Sonic's Family Life is a YouTube animated series made by Archie Sonic and Sonic SatAM fan JayFoxFire.
The series is one of the many possible possible Alternate Sonic Continuities, taking place in the near future, after the Freedom Fighters defeated Dr. Eggman (here referred solely as Dr. Robotnik) once and for all. The series view the Freedom Fighters settling down and having their families.
"Sonic's Family Life" has examples of (TBA):
- 20 Minutes into the Future: The series happens in the near future.
- Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: There's no romance between Tails and Mina Mongoose. Word of God is that Tails will end up with Zooey.
- Adapted Out: Happens to Sonia and Manik (Sonic and Sally's children in the Mobius: X Years Later continuity), being replaced by four Canon Foreigners: Christina, Jonathan, Amanda and Cory.
- Alternate Continuity: Of course, this is a Fan Work based on the Sonic the Hedgehog (Archie Comics).
- Due to the high presence of Canon Foreigners among the next generation, this series is different to the Mobius: X Years Later continuity shown in the Archie Comics.
- Alternate History: The infamous event known as "The Slap" (when Sally slapped Sonic in the comics) never happened, while the events of Sonic Unleashed did. (Maybe this is the reason behind the Canon Foreigners?)
- Author Appeal: Jay Fox Fire just loves Sword Art Online. Most of the music used in the series originates from there.
- Canon Foreigner:
- There are a lot of these among the children of the Freedom Fighters: Christina, Jonathan, Reuben Walrus, Bindy D'Coolette... The only ones that originate from the Mobius: X Years Later continuity are the D'Coolette twins (Jacques and Belle) and Lara-Su.
- There's also Renee, Rotor's wife.
- Of course, since this is a Fan Work, all these are Original Characters.
- Canon Immigrant: The series is set in the pre-reboot Archie-verse, judging by the presence of characters copyright-claimed by Ken Penders like Julie-Su and Mina Mongoose. However, there are characters from various other continuities present in this series, like Professor Pickle and Zooey.
- Good Parents: The Freedom Fighters that have children (in other words, all of them) are this.
- Lampshaded in Sonic and Sally's case:
Jules: "Sonic, I've heard you and Sally raised Tails all by yourselves. If you can do that, I'm sure you'll be the Best father you can be. Are you kidding? You're great with kids!" - Happily Married: All couples which have at least one member of the Knothole Freedom Fighters are this. We already have Antoine and Bunnie, and this series puts three more couples under this trope:
- Sonic and Sally, the main couple of the series;
- Rotor and Canon Foreigner Renee;
- Per//// Word of God, Shard and Nicole.
- Word of God also is that Tails and Zooey would eventually be this as well.
- Killed Off for Real: Robotnik.
- Last-Name Basis: Eggman is only referred to as Robotnik in this series. Also, despite some fan requests, he's Deader than Dead.
- Last of His Kind: Due to Word of God being that Shard is alive and well, he becomes the last Metal Sonic in existence. Oddly enough, Shard is also the first Metal Sonic.
- Lighter and Softer: A series stuffed with Heartwarming Moments based on the dark Archie Comics? Definitely fits this trope. Subverted due to Word of God being that Sally suffers of PTSD due to the infamous Mecha Sally Saga.
- Meaningful Rename: At their wedding, Sonic and Sally change their last names to "Hedgeacorn", a portmanteau between "Hedgehog" and "Acorn". Meaningful because it symbolizes the union between the Hedgehog and Acorn families.
- Mythology Gag: Each episode starts with the intro of Sonic SatAM.
- Word of God is that Tails and Zooey will have a daughter named Cosmo. Even her clothing resembles the Cosmo from Sonic X, as seen here.
- At one point, Christina and Jonathan can be seen playing Sonic Adventure 2.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Sonic sheds more tears in this series than anywhere in his franchise. Justified since this is a Fan Work; SEGA's mandates have no power over Fan Works.
- Shout-Out:
- Sonic is revealed to have a Chip plush.
- On a Christmas, Christina gets a Blaze the Cat plush.
- According to Word of God, Mina is married with a certain Memphis Tennesse.
- Spaghetti Kiss: In the second episode, Sonic and Sally, who were spending their honeymoon in Spagonia, do this. Lampshaded by Sonic:Sonic: "What? We were doing the Lady and the Tramp thing over here! Sheesh..."
- Wedding Episode: Unlike most cases of this trope, this series has the Wedding Episode being the first one. It's Sonic and Sally's wedding.
