- Acting for Two:
- Fred Tatasciore voices Tuna, Hamburg, Chuck's Great Leader, Meep and Gortho.
- Keith Ferguson voices Papa G and Carl.
- Grey Griffin voices Carla, Ramona, Boss Fiosa and Violet Vanish.
- Christian Lanz voices Carlos, Carlax and Crimson Vision.
- Eric Bauza voices Fry, Mstr Wlkzn and Emerald Wing.
- Cast the Runner-Up: Nicolas Cantu was Kid's voice actor in the original pilot, but grew out of the role from puberty. He would then be cast as Ensign Mainstay in the show proper.
- Children Voicing Children:
- Kid is voiced by child voice actor Jack Fisher.
- Rosa is voiced by Lily Rose Silver, another child voice actor.
- Diagnosis of God: Kid suffers from road safety anxiety due to being in the car accident that killed his parents.
- The Other Darrin: For the original pilot for the series in 2017, Kid was voiced by Nicolas Cantu. Once the show entered full production the next year, he aged out of the role due to puberty, with Jack Fisher taking over the role for the series proper. Cantu would remain on the show as Ensign Mainstay.
- Production Posse:
- Voice actors Keith Ferguson, Tom Kenny, and Grey Delisle, veterans of Craig's previous projects, return to play Papa G, Stuck Chuck, and Carla respectively.
- The show also reunites Craig with Rob Renzetti, who he had previously collaborated with on 2 Stupid Dogs and Dexter's Laboratory.
- Several of the crewmembers from Wander Over Yonder such as Frank Angones, Dave Thomas, Justin Nichols, Andy Bean, Sam Riegel, and Ben Balistreri have rejoined Craig for this project. Mercury Filmworks, who animated the first season of Wander, are back to animate Kid Cosmic.
- Promoted Fangirl: Amanda C. Miller was a big fan of The Powerpuff Girls as she grew up, hence why she was excited to voice Jo in the series.
- Real-Life Relative: Married couple Laura Bailey and Travis Willingham voice the fantasy world versions of Kid's mom and dad.
- Refitted for Sequel: Or rather, refitted for next project. The Earth Force Enforcement Force was based on the Star Force Enforcement Force, an idea that was supposed to be used in Wander over Yonder's third season before that show got cancelled.
- Release Date Change: Craig McCracken claims the show was supposed to premiere in 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic delayed production. It wouldn't officially premiere until February 2021 as a result.
- Saved from Development Hell: Craig had the concept for Kid Cosmic in mind since 2009 (like Wander over Yonder, he originally envisioned it as a graphic novel), but had kept it on the backburner for many years. At that time, syndicated television was still the most dominant media, which meant that shows had to rely on standalone stories with no real room for plot development and character growth, and he felt its Story Arc approach would be deemed too risky. Come the success of shows like Gravity Falls and Steven Universe however, and the growing demand in streaming and binge-watching, Craig started to realize that audiences actually were invested in serialised stories, which convinced him to give the idea another shot.
- Torch the Franchise and Run: The third season wraps things up in a way that a continuation isn't possible, particularly in that Fantos is killed by Erodius, the Cosmic Stones giving the heroes their powers are permanently disabled and Papa G is left wheelchair-bound due to sacrificing the 14th stone that enabled his longevity in order to end Erodius' rampage for good. This is most likely to prevent Netflix from renewing the series for more episodes without any involvement from Craig McCracken. Though given Netflix's massive cancellations to its Kids and Family shows that happened soon after Kid Cosmic ended, it's not like they were going to follow it up anyways.
- What Could Have Been:
- A tweet from Craig made about a year before the series' announcement reveals that it was originally in development at Disney XD, with the pilot in question getting leaked to the internet in 2024. Disney would ultimately pass on greenlighting a full series, however, with Netflix picking it up instead.
- The Disney pilot includes an over-credits scene in case the animatic was ever fully animated for a television broadcast. It's of Papa G saying hi to Chuck in Kid's trailer.
- In Craig's early production art, Kid and Rosa were initially designed without noses (in keeping with the main characters of his previous shows), whilst Tuna Sandwich has a slightly different face.
- Originally, 30 episodes were proposed (with each season having 10 episodes each), but the crew realized that the story worked better with fewer episodes (with seasons 2 and 3 having eight and six episodes, respectively), which brought the episode count down to 24 total.
- Word of Gay: Craig confirmed that Fry and Hamburg are a couple.
- Word of God:
- Sometime after the first season's release, Craig stated that Papa G is Kid's maternal grandfather. After Season 3 came out, he gave additional clarification that since Papa G is 112 years old, Kid's mom is not his daughter, but Kid is related to him on her side.
- When asked about the character's ages, Craig McCracken said that Kid is 9-10, Jo is 16-17, Tuna Sandwich is 5-6 (which translates to 30-40 in cat years), Rosa is 4, and he couldn't talk about Papa G. Season 3 eventually reveals that Papa G is 112 years old.
- Kid's mom made his cape for him when he was little, which is why it looks so small on him now.
- Working Title: Kid from Planet Earth.
