  • In an episode of Friends, Joey and Chandler watch Wheel of Fortune. There is an incomplete puzzle of _OUNT RUSH_ORE showing during a round, and Joey says the answer is COUNT RUSHMORE. Chandler tells him there's no such thing.
    Joey: Yeah? Then who's the guy who painted the faces on the mountain?
  • Full House: In "The Test", Kimmy is watching Wheel of Fortune on TV while D.J. is trying to study for her college aptitude test. D.J. then shuts off the TV, reminding Kimmy that she's supposed to be studying as well. Kimmy retaliates by saying that they can learn a lot from Vanna White, since she knows where every letter on the board is. Vanna later appears in D.J.'s nightmare, where she grades both Kimmy and D.J.'s exam papers, then reveals that Kimmy got accepted into Stanford University for her perfect score, while D.J. failed every single question on her test and got accepted into Clown University.

  • The song "John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16" by Keith Urban contains the line "I'm a TV dinner on a tray trying to figure out the Wheel of Fortune."

Puppet Shows

  • Sesame Street:
    • One sketch is titled "Squeal of Fortune", hosted by Pat Playjacks. Count Von Count and Prairie Dawn appear as the contestants. The goal of the game is to correctly guess how many times the pig will squeal when the wheel it is occupying is spun. The Count wins the game when he correctly guesses that the pig will squeal three times, and chooses the pig as his prize so he can count its squeals whenever he wants. At the end of the sketch, an eel shows up, asking Pat if he's on Eel of Fortune, to which Pat tells him it's in the studio next door.
    • A street story has María as a reluctant contestant on Sightword, hosted by Matt Playback. He shows up uninvited three times to have her solve Wheel-style word puzzles: first while she is repairing Mrs. Nußbaum's alarm clock, then at Hooper's Store, and finally in her bathroom as she brushes her teeth before bed. Each time she solves a puzzle, he gives her a silly prize.

  • In South Park: Chef's Luv Shack, one of the bonus rounds is titled "Wheel of Fortuitousness".

Web Comics

  • The Less Than Epic Adventures of TJ and Amal: TJ claims to be asleep and dreaming about being on "Wheel of Fortune" naked when Amal asks if he's awake when he starts cuddling him. His attempt at describing his supposed dream he's in the middle of is ruined when Amal sucks on his fingers and gets him in a different mood.

  • Animaniacs (1993):
    • At the end of the Pinky and the Brain short, "Win Big", after Brain loses his chance at winning the $99,000 he needs to fund the Infindibulator on Gyp-Parody, Pinky suggests they watch Wheel of Misfortune, as well as $10,000 Pile of Mud.
    • In "Bumbie's Mom", Skippy starts bawling after seeing Bumbie's Mom getting shot. Slappy, who had fallen asleep, wakes up and shouts "PAT! I'd like to buy a vowel!"
    • A recurring segment on the show is "Wheel of Morality", where Yakko spins the titular wheel to see what the episode's moral is, which is usually a Spoof Aesop.note  The wheel has a "Bankrupt" space, and in one episode, the Warners land on a space where they win a free trip to Tahiti. In another episode, Wakko says "Pat, I'd like to buy a vowel.", to which Yakko tells him "Wrong wheel."
  • Family Guy:
    • "A Hero Sits Next Door" begins with Peter, Chris and Brian watching Wheel of Fortune. When the puzzle shown is revealed to say "GO _UCK YOURSELF", a lady on the show solves it by saying "GO TUCK YOURSELF IN". Chris tells Peter he was close, and Peter says he still can't believe they missed "MY HAIRY AUNT" as a phrase.
    • "I Take Thee Quagmire" begins with Peter appearing on the final round of Wheel of Fortune, where his category is "Actor and Show". Peter uses a Z, 4, three Qs, and a Batman symbol as his five consonants and one vowel, which gets him nowhere. He then correctly guesses "ALEX KARRAS IN WEBSTER". One of the prizes he chooses with his $1,300 winnings is one free week of maid service, getting the episode's main plot underway.
  • One post-opening sequence line from Garfield and Friends was "I'd like to buy a vowel, please."note 
  • Rugrats (1991): In "Game Show Didi", when Didi wins Super Stumpers, Didi chooses a gold-plated dalmatian as her prize, a reference to the infamous ceramic dalmatian from Wheel of Fortune's prize showcase.
  • The Simpsons:
  • The South Park episode "With Apologies To Jesse Jackson" has Randy go on the show and say the N-word on national television, thinking it was the answer to the clue "People Who Annoy You" (the actual answer was "naggers")
  • Tiny Toon Adventures: The third episode of the series is entitled "The Wheel O' Comedy". In this episode, Babs forces Buster to cancel Spectacular Day, so the two rabbits spin a special wheel to determine the characters that star in each segment. Also, in the episode's third segment, "Win, Lose, or Ker-Plowie", Babs plays Vanna Pink, a parody of Vanna White, the lady who uncovers the letters.
