Recap / Martha Speaks S 3 E 1 The Martha Show

Go To

After Helen, Carolina, Martha, and T.D. explain that the vocabulary words are about shows (with T.D. and Martha tired from having worked on the script all night), Helen, T.D., and Martha are seen taking a walk on a windy day. When a frisbee blows in T.D.'s face, he throws it for Martha, but it lands on Mrs. Demson's roof. Both kids are nervous they'd get yelled at, and Helen convinces T.D. to fetch it because he threw it. He and Martha get it down with a stick, but Mrs. Demson appears and throws it back onto the roof, saying that everything that falls on her roof stays there.

Then, Mr. Hucky arrives and asks for someone to host a TV show. In the pet store, he explains that he lost his job at the animal network and is now working on kids shows. He claims that talking dogs are popular and hands Helen a list of shows with talking dogs. Martha agrees to have her own TV show, so long as her friends can be in it.

Later, they discuss the situation in Helen's yard, along with Alice and Truman. Helen decides that they first need to decide on the genre of their show. When Alice mentions medical dramas, T.D. thinks they could make one called Doctor Dog with Martha as the doctor. She doesn't want to be a doctor, however, since they work indoors all day, and she wants the show to be a comedy about their day-to-day lives.

Alice thinks this idea isn't exciting enough and wants a show about a giant Martha. Truman wants an educational show about him and Martha as superheroes, while T.D. wants a spy show. Then, Carolina shows up and wants the show to have merchandised toys, but the rest find it too sappy. Then, Martha tells Mr. Hucky, but is shocked to find her costar is Mrs. Demson. To be continued.

Martha and Mrs. Demson watch the pilot episode, but it just shows her telling the audience to play hide and seek while she watches TV. At home, Martha tells the kids, and they get the idea to combine all their ideas. Martha invents a superhero show about her and her friends as superheroes called the Book Bots, who save the day when books get changed. Mr. Hucky accepts it, but Mrs. Demson changes it to make it into a quiz show. Martha and the kids resign, and in return, Mrs. Demson allows them to retrieve the toys from their roof.
