  • When he learnt that they are the same person, or at least share a body, Jackson comments on how Holt is the reason why he wakes up in strange places with no memory of what happened. That's disturbing when you think about it.
    • He was probably referring to the time Holt got thrown out of a movie theater and Jackson woke up in an alley, which was probably weird for him, but he's apparently used to it.
  • Robecca’s backstory from Friday Night Frights. She was said to be the first female SKRM champion, but that the male players felt so threatned by her that she was disasembled. In other words, she was murdered and dismembered solely for being a successful woman in a male-dominated space. Also becomes a Fridge Horror when one considers the parallels to real-life femicides…
    • On top of that, she’s reanimated and brought back to life after Ghoulia put her back together from all of the missing parts she found. This means that Ghoulia had essentially been collecting Robecca’s dismembered body parts in order to do so.
  • 13 Wishes has some of the darkest and most disturbing events seen in the franchise yet, all due to Howleen's corruption by Whisp.
    • The Shadow Ghouls: Evil Knockoffs of the ghouls we know who replace the wish-banished monsters. They have washed-out complexions and lack any compassion... and what's more unsettling is that Djinni was planning to turn all monsterkind into these to follow her whims.
    • The freaky-ass faces Djinni makes when the eclipse occurs at both the opening and closing scenes of the special— both when she's trying to convince the Finders to give her ultimate power.
    • What happens to Lagoona. Howleen wishes for Gil's parents to like her, which transforms her into a freshwater monster. Unfortunately, Lagoona slowly goes insane, obsessed with needlessly caring for Gil, and reveling in fresh water.
    • Howleen's wish on Cleo. Howleen wishes for Cleo to be a nobody. This leads to everyone forgetting Cleo existed, meaning she lost her friends, boyfriend, and social life as a whole. And if that wasn't bad enough Howleen mocks her for it later in the film, having Deuce go to Howleen at a party that she decided to take over even though it was Cleo's. This is all right before she sends Cleo to the lantern.
    • The school under Howleen/Whisp is turned into a cult to Howleen- all forced to wear masks of her face and practically worship her. Considering that this all arose from her desire to be popular, it's a rather extreme case of Be Careful What You Wish For. Also, Bloodgood, the Big Good and the franchise's most rational character, is fired early on, leaving nobody to stop this from happening.
    • Howleen's progression is frightening, too. By the climax, she's drained of color, and practically drained of her soul until she looks in Whisp's mirror and realizes what she's done.
  • The cat in the catacombs in "HooDude VooDoo", and how it almost chomps Clawdeen. The catacombs and underbelly of the school in general, really: small flying Cthulhu-babies, three headed cats, and the mother-freaking Kraken hang out herenote  Eldritch Location for sure.
  • The Trick-or-Treatment machine and all of the Fridge Horror implications of being a monster in a human community that have frightening parallels to the Salem witch trials. There's also the fact that Bloodgood, the most consistently responsible adult character, does nothing to help except call the monster elder council, and seems only slightly upset that a teenager is going to die. Either Holt's just that annoying, or this situation isn't uncommon- the humans just had a person/monster-sized cage ready to go, and everyone except the students directly involved was remarkably casual about the whole thing.
  • Cleo's backstory as revealed in her Gloom and Bloom diary: Her uncle betrayed the De Niles, and locked them in a tomb. The only reason they survived is because of magic bandages that mummified them, which they cannot remove under pain of death. They were then betrayed again when Amanita Nightshade (who was germinating in Nefera's prize Corpse Flower) escaped and never came back for them, leaving them locked in a dark tomb for that much longer. The whole incident gave Cleo permanent fear of the dark.
  • Draculaura's recent diary, which expands on the details of how she became a vampire.
    • Her father was a Roman soldier, killed in battle.
    • Her mother died of plague, and she would have too if not for Dracula coming home in time to bite her. It was the only option left to save her life.
    • The "more famous" other Dracula? Stated to be Vlad III the Impaler... which means that everything he did during his reign likely also happened in their world as well.
  • And on that note, Draculaura's decision to not drink blood was something rather recent, meaning she did drink it to survive, likely for centuries. And the other vampires? The writers may not overly dwell on it happening, but come on...
  • An unintentional example is Lorna's character artwork, which multiple reviews have stated to be rather frightening.
  • The fact that Dr. Jekyll even had offspring and descendants means that either Mattel's intended backstory revises a few details, or it follows the adaptations that gave him a love interest or two, which begs the question of whether his lover had a child with Jekyll or Hyde.
    • Technically, the original novella never elaborates on what Hyde was getting up to beyond general vague debauchery, and given the famous Victorian repression, it's not unreasonable to assume he did something that could result in offspring.
  • Luna has red eyes and Scarah has blank white eyes.
  • If Astranova didn’t wake up on time, her spaceship would have crashed into the sun.
  • Frankie in the pilot episode “putting on her face”. We don’t see it, but does she literally sleep without her face, or is she simply putting on makeup?
    • Based on the noises from off-screen, she literally sleeps without her face.
  • Frankie’s friends getting trapped in her grandfather’s robot after being unfused, and then she ends up going into a coma. We understand that she used her electricity to save them, but Jinafire was right to warn her. If it weren’t for the school recharging the machine, Frankie would have never woken up.
  • Deuce’s dragon has been turned to stone, seemingly never returning to normal. That being said, Mr. Zarr is never seen again after “Substitute Creature”.
  • Toralei almost drowning in the pool. Good thing Lagoona was there.
  • Principal Revenant going power-hungry with her detention chains, and eventually kidnapping Monster High’s ghost population.
  • Valentine takes the term “stealing your heart” a little TOO literally...
    • To be more specific, he hypnotizes girls until they're completely in love with him, then steals their souls. The implications of that are incredibly creepy, even more so when you remember that all the girls he does this to are apparently dead inside afterwards.
  • In “The Nine Lives Of Toralei”, we get Toralei’s backstory. She was the smallest sextuplet and was orphaned. While her siblings were adopted, she was all alone and had to fend for herself, until she was eventually arrested for juvenile delinquency and Bloodgood invited her and the Werecat Twins to Monster High. Keep in mind that Toralei is only 15, and was living on the streets since she was A KITTEN with nobody to take care of her. It’s a miracle she’s still alive.
    • Let’s not forget Fangelica. She’s a child vampire who was all alone for centuries until Draculaura and her friends rescued her.
  • It’s a good thing Ari’s a ghost, otherwise Moanica could have killed her.
  • The arranged marriage between Cleo and Seth in “Boo York”. Granted they’re both thousands of years old, but have the minds of teenagers and Cleo is still in high school. If they were humans, this would be illegal, since the movie is set in 2015 and child marriage in America is considered a no-no. Thankfully, Seth falls for Catty, Cleo gets back together with Deuce, and no one gets married.
  • Clawdeen threatening Draculaura: “If she wasn’t immortal, I would...”
  • Moanatella throwing Clawdeen and Garott in the slammer in “Scaris: City of Frights.”
  • Vandala has half of one of her legs missing. She’s a pirate and a ghost, but yikes.
  • Zomby Gaga is the most skeletal of all the zombies, so her face is pretty jarring compared to Ghoulia, Slo-Mo, and Moanica.
  • In “Great Scarrier Reef”, Lagoona’s flashback to when her and Kala were children leading up to Lagoona’s stage fright, along with why Kala was so mean in the first place, are pretty troubling for anyone who’s ever been bullied.
  • The subject of racism. Clawd is dating Draculaura. Lagoona is dating Gil. Both couples work out their differences and are generally happy. Then you have Lorna and Finn. Finn broke up with Lorna right before the Gloom and Bloom Dance, leaving her dateless and depressed. Gil offers to go with her, with an enraged Lagoona accusing Gil of cheating. It’s bad enough that Lorna had to go through that, but now his girlfriend is angry with him. Given that Gil’s parents hate saltwater monsters like Lagoona, this could have been disastrous. Thank goodness Gil and Lagoona apologized.
  • Do NOT anger Nefera. This is the same mummy who got her own sister Cleo framed for having a party, convinced Cleo and Deuce to break up, tried to steal the Comet Crystal and have Cleo married off to Seth, and disbanded Toralei’s fearleading team. Also, she’s a spoiled and bratty daddy’s girl. “Backstabber” doesn’t even BEGIN to describe her.
  • Frankie nearly frying her schoolmates in the pool.
  • Gil being rescued from an island with an active volcano.
  • The running gag of tentacles popping out of a locker and grabbing someone.
  • Moanica’s Zomboy army. Her bio says that she can’t turn humans via a bite like a typical zombie, but there are dozens of helpless victims that she has converted into zombies. She has also vandalized a neighborhood, caused a massive blackout, put Frankie on electrical overload, and kidnapped and tried to MURDER a pop star. Man, this girl is evil.
    • She also has glowing eyes, fangs, and retractable claws, and unlike the other zombies, she can RUN. She’s truly someone you don’t want to mess with.
  • In G3, despite Lagoona is still a sweet character, she now is a Cute But Psycho girl, that is obsessed with telenovelas... where romances end with cannibalism. She constantly talks about organs and chomp apart limbs, that altrough is funny, is a bit discordant if you are used to the G1 calm Lagoona.
  • G3 episode, Pyramid Scheme, Nefera almost fall to an underworld of lava.
