  • A lot of fans are under the idea that Bun, a classified "Badmon" who is incapable of evolving past the Child Level, has the ability to raise his stats to Adult or even Perfect Levels in a pinch, to explain how he defeated DeathMetalGreymon, but that he can only do it when in danger of dying, which is why he can never win any of the following, friendlier fights. There is nothing in C'mon Digimon to suggest this; the seemingly invincible Deathmon's tamer, Shinichiro Josaki, was bated by Kentaro Kamon into making the monster vulnerable to a new attack Shinichiro did not realize Kentaro and Bun had developed.
  • The most infamous scene of Digimon V-Tamer 01 is of a freshly hatched Baby Digimon killing an Ultimate Level monster in one attack, which is used to argue said Baby is among the most powerful Digimon ever. Thing is, that Baby wasn't freshly hatched, it had already evolved off panel and the Ultimate it killed was already on the verge of death note .
  • Canon Immigrant Ryo Akiyama's WonderSwan games were never released in English and only one saw one fan translation. However, one fan extrapolated from his and Ken Ichijouji's friendship in the games that Ryo also knew Ken's older brother. Over the years this extrapolation, and its getting picked up by other fans, has quietly snowballed into the odd Digimon Adventure 02 fan with an interest in pre-series Ken believing that the three of them as friends is canon.
  • Related to the Ryo example above, it is generally believed by many that Ryo's nemesis (and actual Digimon partner, but that's a long story) is the Greater-Scope Villain of the entire Digimon Adventure universe, and that he is responsible for unleashing Apocalymon and setting the events of the series in motion. There's just one problem with that: this is never actually stated in the games in which Millenniumon appears. Millenniumon is responsible for a lot of bad things that happened, yes, but he's far from the "puppet-master" he's believed to be by a large percentage of the fanbase - including some on this very wiki.
    • Continuing the Ryo thing, that he supposedly has the powers to access other universes and timelines under his power, due to holding the status of "Legendary Tamer." While it has occurred in the games proper, it's mainly been due to outside influence, like Moon=Millenniumon deciding to blow both of them to kingdom come, or ENIAC opening portals for him.
  • The name "Masaharu" was used by fans for Yamato and Takeru's father for a long while. Later on, it was revealed that his real name is "Hiroaki", which is an example of The Danza. A lot of people still like "Masaharu" better.
  • In Digimon Tamers, the young pair of siblings, Ai and Mako, were never given a last name in the series. Several fanfictions tend to give them the name "Terada."
    • That Ai and Mako are twins at all is also fanon. Ai and Mako aren't actually the same age.
  • The Quadrants; officially, they refer to different regions of the Digital World, with each parallel DigiWorld having its own four. A section of the fandom regard Adventure's entire DigiWorld as being in the Eastern Quadrant and the Tamers one in the Southern, despite next to no evidence supporting this theory.
  • An infrequently-cited theory is that Tailmon's/Gatomon's Ultimate form hinges of the absence (Holydramon) or presence (Ofanimon) of her Holy Ring (or "tail ring" as Gatomon calls hers). Officially it's Jossed, as various media depict Gatomon with said object evolving into Holydramon.
  • While none of the Adventure kids' future children have canon names, you can rest assured that fanworks will depict Ken and Yolei/Miyako as having named their eldest son after Ken's deceased brother: Sam/Osamu.
