Go To

The Saga of Shirou's Summons is an Anthology of short stories and One-Shot Fic set in Fate/stay night, by fanfic authors Pallan Minerva and Aberron. It is now complete at 63 chapters.

At it's core, the story revolves around Shirou summoning Servants other than Saber and then examining what his relationship with them would be like, or how it could affect the Fifth Holy Grail War.

Also available on Archive of Our Own here: Saga of Shirou's Summons.

It now has a spin-off called Heart of the Truth (Archive of Our Own link here), which will focus on Shirou summoning Kiyohime.

It now has a spin-off called Rust, Dust & Guts, where the forces of Hell invade Fuyuki, leading to Shirou summoning the Doom Slayer from Doom Eternal. Sadly, this story has been cancelled and put up for adoption.

The Saga of Shirou's Summons contains examples of

  • Babies Ever After: Hassan of the Hundred Persona's chapter focuses on her supporting Shirou during the birth of his and Sakura's first child.
    • The final chapter shows Shirou and Saber Lily's children playing with Taiga.
  • Badass Creed: EMIYA Alter has this:
I am the bone of my sword.
My steel is in tatters and my heart bound in frost.
I have broken over a thousand blades.
Given up hope, thrown away ideals.
Chipped away at my soul until it was nothing but dust.
In the end, these hands never held anything.
So, as I pray... Unlimited Lost Works.
  • Big Brother Mentor: How Cu Chulainn treats Shirou during their chapters together.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: Both of Mephistopheles' chapters are him holding one-sided discussions with the reader regarding Shirou, Sakura, and the nature of fiction.
  • Breather Episode: Occasionally a straight comedy or light and fluffy chapter will be squeezed in between far more serious sections.
  • Christmas Episode: Santa Alter naturally gets this chapter.
  • Chronic Hero Syndrome: Shirou, as per canon. Some of his servants respect him for this, some of them... don't.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Tamamo shows shades of this.
  • Clueless Chick-Magnet: In several of the various stories, Shirou is either totally oblivious or in complete denial about how Sakura, Rin, or his servants view him.
    • Tamamo calls him out on being this, noting that it's going to damage his friendships if he doesn't give the people around him closure and firm boundaries.
  • Dark Fic: While many of the chapters and scenes are fairly light and fluffy, some of the veer hard into this territory.
  • Deliberate Values Dissonance: As expected, a great many servants are baffled by Shirou's definitions of morality, or outright reject his in favor of their own.
    • Perhaps the most blatant being Iskander casually referencing how poisoning several of his sisters was the best way to kill them.
  • Duel to the Death: Cu Chulainn teaches Shirou how to force one of these via rune magic, and Shirou uses it along with Gae Bolg to defeat Kuzuki.
  • Enraged by Idiocy: Mash Alter's constant state of mind when dealing with her master.
  • Exactly What I Aimed At: EMIYA Alter hurls his bladed gun at Hijikata, who sidesteps it and beats on him. It turns out he was really passing it to Jeanne Alter, who picks it up and shoots Hijikata in the back.
  • Forced Transformation: Circe's chapter ends with her turning Sakura into a pig.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Each of the many sub-stories revolves around the idea that, for various reasons, Shirou summons a servant besides Saber.
  • Evil Versus Evil: Kiara's First Interlude Chapter pits her in a verbal sparring match against Kirei.
  • Harem Seeker: Taiga becomes concerned Shirou has become one of these during the Tamamo chapters.
  • I Did What I Had to Do: Cu tells Shirou they did what they had to when Caster calls them out for being the villains in her story.
  • I'm Having Soul Pains: Caster of Midrash doesn't enjoy trying to peer into the future.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Done in a darker, more sober fashion during Tamamo-no-Mae IV.
  • Magi Babble: Circe tries to teach Shirou about magecraft. Unfortunately, he cannot understand any of her terms.
  • Mercy Kill: First Hassan kills the children trapped beneath the church.
  • Mundane Utility: Santa Alter abuses the Santa part of her nature in order to create a chimney and rocking chair in Shirou's home... much to his displeasure as she tore apart his shed and furniture for the parts to do so.
  • Mutual Kill: Penthesilea dies taking down Avenger Gorgon in her chapter.
  • Mystery of the Week: The Dantes' plot takes this format.
  • Pretender Diss: Saber Alter compares Shirou unfavorably to Kiritsugu.
Saber Alter: You are a reflection of your father's image upon the water, nothing but an ephemeral copy, unworthy of his name.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge:
    • The end of Iskander II sets one of these up after Gil kills Illya.
    • For unknown reasons, Gorgon Avenger killed her master and is ripping apart the city, forcing Shirou and Penthesilea to stop her.
  • Samaritan Syndrome: A great many of the servants call Shirou out for having this attitude, especially as he often doesn't have the power, skill, or wealth to actually make good on his ideals.
    • Caster of Midrash and Illya call him out for refusing payment for work, pointing out that he's setting himself to be taken advantage of, and actually hurting his future ability to do good.
  • Secret Test of Character: Shirou fails one of these when he allows Caster to become Semiramis's new master, and after giving him a harsh speech, Semiramis declares that she will make him ill for a week to keep him out of the war, only to give him a more moderate illness to see if he can truly become a hero on his own terms.

  • Slice of Life: A few of the chapters are little more than examinations of what Shirou's home life might be when a servant is around.
  • We ARE Struggling Together: Mash Alter fights with Shirou and their allies just as often as she fights with their enemies.
  • Yandere: Kiyohime's stereotypical behavior is given a bit more depth. While she is madly in love with her master thanks to her madness enhancement, she's tangentially aware that something is wrong with her mind and constantly struggles against it.
