In General
- Adaptational Badass: Since Cinderella Gray skews much more towards the competitive side of horse-racing, all the characters who appear in other media are depicted here as significantly more serious and badass. This is not to say that they don't have their goofy moments too...
Berno Light
Voiced by: Miyari Nemoto (Cinderella Gray PV)
- Motor Mouth: She prattled about horseshoes for a while while Oguri Cap spaced out.
- Nice Girl: Notably the first girl who actively tried to befriend Oguri Cap.
- Ojou: A rather lowkey one, but her family owned a large sporting goods store specializing in horsegirl racing equipment.
- Original Generation: First appeared in Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray. She was based on a Kasamatsu-based real-life horse although her name did not reflect this factnote
- Visual Pun: Although the staff couldn't use the name Twin Bee, they managed to work it into her character design. She's got two hair decorations in the shape of the letter B, that are both angled to be prominently visible from the front.note
Fujimasa March
- The Ace: A scholarship girl, and very fast on the track.
- Always Someone Better: Oguri Cap, of course.
- Original Generation: First appeared in Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray. She was based on the (at the time) Kasamatsu-based racehorse March Tosho.
- Unknown Rival: The dynamic between her and Oguri Cap so far. Oguri Cap barely noticed her, making her resort to actively seeking Oguri Cap.
Norn Ace
- Alpha Bitch: Highly adversarial against Oguri Cap at first, but softened after her utter defeat.
- Original Generation: First appeared in Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray. While there was a Kasamatsu-based racehorse name North Hero at the time, the manga author explicitly stated in a tweet that she's not meant to be based on any real-life horse (the reasoning being her antagonist status).
Akitsu Teio
- Original Generation: She first appeared in the Cinderella Gray manga.
- No Historical Figures Were Harmed: She was based on Nippo Teio.
Dicta Striker
- No Historical Figures Were Harmed: She was based on Soccer Boy. Her name is also a sneaky reference to Dictus (Soccer Boy's sire)
Lord Royal
- Original Generation: She only appears in the Cinderella Gray manga.
- No Historical Figures Were Harmed: She's based on Legend Teio.
Toni Bianca
- Original Generation: She only appears in the Cinderella Gray manga.
- No Historical Figures Were Harmed: She's based on legendary Irish racehorse Tony Bin.
Moonlight Lunacy
- British Stuffiness: Subverted; her very first panel sets up this expectation, and then she proceeds to immediately roast Fujii.
- No Historical Figures Were Harmed: She's based on British racehorse Moon Madness.
- Not So Stoic: In an amusing interlude, she's shown developing a taste for Japanese convenience-store jelly do... er, riceballs.
- The Ojou: Visually, she plays this to the hilt. It comes with being a British character in a multiethnic cast.
- Original Generation: She only appears in the Cinderella Gray manga.
Michelle My Baby
- Amazonian Beauty: In a rare move for the franchise, she's depicted with a visible six-pack in her first appearance, and clearly rocks the look.
- Ambiguously Brown: Averted; considering her height, American nationality and fondness for basketball, she's clearly meant to be African-American.
- No Historical Figures Were Harmed: She's based on American racehorse My Big Boy.
- Original Generation: She only appears in the Cinderella Gray manga.
- Sassy Black Woman: Checks all the boxes, being the only clearly-Black character in the franchise and also the most outgoing and openly friendly of the foreign horsegirls.
- Statuesque Stunner: Most of the foreign horsegirls introduced for the Japan Cup arc are this, but Michelle takes the cake at 195 cm (6'4").
Ellerslie Pride
- No Historical Figures Were Harmed: She's based on New Zealand racehorse Bonecrusher; her name is a Shout-Out to a particular statue of Bonecrusher that dubs him "the pride of Ellerslie".
- Original Generation: She only appears in the Cinderella Gray manga.
Obey Your Master
- Anime Hair: Blonde, incredibly dishevelled and spiky and with blue tips.
- Catholic School Girls Rule: Her racing outfit invokes this trope. As expected, it's also a Custom Uniform of Sexy.
- Crazy-Prepared: She came to Japan with thorough research not only on the opposing horsegirls, but on their entire support teams - a reference to how Pay the Butler's race team prepared for the Japan Cup.
- Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Her first few scenes have her acting like a ditzy goofball, and Berno notes that her race record has been decidedly mediocre compared to her distinguished opponents. And then she not only unmasks Berno's disguise, but also reveals that she knows her name.
- I Just Want to Be You: In a flashback, the then-introverted and unsuccessful Obey is seen speaking with an unnamed rival who advises her to "do her homework". She not only follows said advice, but reinvents her entire look (including star-shaped contacts) to match said rival.
- No Historical Figures Were Harmed: She's based on American racehorse Pay the Butler.
- No Name Given: Her name isn't revealed for a few chapters.
- Original Generation: She only appears in the Cinderella Gray manga.
- Room Full of Crazy: Turns her hotel room into something like this, with the walls practically wallpapered with news articles and information about her opponents.
- Worthy Opponent: Visits Tamamo Cross to pay her respects after defeating her in the Japan Cup.
Kitahara Jo
A trainer in the Kasamatsu Tracen Academy, who coached Oguri Cap in her early years.
- Dark and Troubled Past: Implied to be a wastrel in his youth by his uncle.
- Original Generation: First appeared in Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray.
- Shockingly Expensive Bill: Gets hit by one when he sent Berno Light and Oguri Cap shopping for the latter's shoes.
Oguri Cap's Mother
Oguri Cap's birth mother, who was a racer herself in her early years. She managed to cure Oguri Cap's weak knee and turned it into her strength.
- Original Generation: First appeared in Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray.
- Perpetual Poverty: Implied to be caused by Oguri Cap's food bill. It got so bad that sending Oguri cap to Tracen (implied to be fairly expensive in itself) is an improvement.
Musaka Ginjiro
A trainer from Central and Kitahara Jo's uncle.
- Alternate Character Reading: Jo constantly refers to him as Roppei, the alternate reading of the kanji for Musaka. He doesn't like this.
- Original Generation: First appeared in Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray.
Sensuke Fujii
An influential horse-racing reporter.
- Intrepid Reporter: He has enough influence to go straight to Symboli Rudolf with a petition signed by ten thousand people. All this is to persuade URA to allow Oguri Cap to run in Japan Derby. It fails, though.
- Original Generation: He first appeared in Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray manga.
Komiyama Katsumi
Tamamo Cross's trainer.
- Original Generation: First appeared in Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray.
Nase Fumino
Super Creek's trainer.
Voiced by:
- Original Generation: She only appears in the Cinderella Gray manga.
- No Historical Figures Were Harmed: As Super Creek's then-inexperienced trainer in Cinderella Gray, she's essentially the Umaverse's Distaff Counterpart of legendary jockey Take Yutaka.
