     Bigmouth
Bigmouth (Grossbouf)
Voiced by: Lennie Weinrib - The Smurfs TV series, Davis Freeman (English dub, 2021 CGI series)

The ogre who lives in the Smurf forest.

  • Adaptational Villainy: In the 2021 series, Bigmouth isn't friends with the Smurfs as in the original show. He wants to eat the Smurfs for unknown reasons. This is more in-line with his initial appearance in the comics and cartoons prior to his Heel–Face Turn.
  • Anti-Villain: In the original cartoon, Bigmouth was never actively malicious, but his simple-minded nature often made him a perfect tool for Gargamel to take advantage of.
  • Ascended Extra: He was a one-shot character in the original comics and never reappeared in future comics during Peyo's lifetime. He has a bigger presence in the animated series where he's a supporting character.
  • Big Eater: In the cartoon series, he's prone to getting extremely hungry which is his usual motivation for Gargamel and The Smurfs.
  • The Bus Came Back: He returned in the 2014 comic "Smurfs Monsters" in the story "Bigmouth and the Lizards" after being absent from the franchise for 38 years.
  • Hulk Speak: Mostly in the cartoon show adaptation, and pretty much with all ogres in the show. This is carried over to the 2021 animated series.
  • I Just Want to Have Friends: What instigates his Heel–Face Turn in the original cartoon. He's lonely and generally shunned (both due to his lack of social skills and people being scared of ogres). Clockwork Smurf befriending him does a lot for his mood.
  • No Social Skills: One reason Bigmouth had few friends is because he tries too hard to get them, and on the rare occasion he did, his lack of social graces often drove those new friends away. This is showcased most brilliantly in "Bigmouth's Friend," where he walks in on a family picnic and simply wants to play, not knowing that they wanted family time together (and not someone walking in uninvited).
  • Our Ogres Are Hungrier: He's constantly hungry as seen in his comic debut and animated series.
  • Third-Person Person: In the cartoon show, he refers himself as "Big Mouth".
  • Wild Card: Would play either a hero or a villain depending on which will get him some more food. Became a permanent Heel–Face Turn after the Season 5 episode "Bigmouth's Friend," after a series of events that include Gargamel cruelly insulting him and telling him to go away, and then helping the Smurfs and King Gerard stop Lord Balthazar's attempted coup after Balthazar destroys Clockwork Smurf.

     Bignose
Bignose

Bigmouth's girlfriend. Appears only in the Animated Adaptation.

     Dame Barbara/Lady Bard
Dame Barbara/Lady Bard
Voiced by: Ginette Garcin [Original French version]; Unknown Voice Actor [United Kingdom English dub]; Unknown Voice Actor [United States English dub] - The Smurfs and the Magic Flute
Linda Gary - The Smurfs cartoon show

The King's governess as well as Princess Savina's tutor who happens to detests Peewit.

  • Butt-Monkey: Deliberately and unintentionally for Peewit, it’s no wonder why she loathes the guy.
  • Flat Character: She doesn't get as much focus as the other 'Johan and Peewit' characters, as she is nothing more than a tutor to the Princess and would often get violent when someone mistreats her. At least, for the most part.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Whenever Peewit mistreats her or destroys something accidentally to make her upset.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Unlike the King, Johan, Peewit, and Princess Sabina, she never meets the Smurfs and is unaware of their existence.
  • Put on a Bus: Alongside Princess Sabina, she was dropped after Season 2 (excepting a cameo in Season 4's "Blue Eyes Returns").

     Odile Anjelou
Odile Anjelou
Played by: Sofia Vergara - The Smurfs movie

The CEO of Anjelou cosmetics who encounters Gargamel, appearing only in the live-action movie series.

     The Great Book Of Spells
The Great Book Of Spells

An ancient magical artifact found in Gargamel's basement, The Great Book of Spells can only be awakened once a month, on the full moon, and immediately returns to slumber at sunset of that day. It is never explained, in series, how Gargamel got his hands on this artifact, but it is never moved from that location, and very few characters know of its existence. In order to greet this artifact, or make a request, the supplicant must speak in rhyme. Characters who don't know this are instructed by The Book Of Spells, personally.

Gargamel: Oh Great Book of Spells, upon whose pages dwell secrets no one tells, awake for Gargamel!
Scruple: Oh Great Book of Spells. My name is Scruple. Teach me all you have to tell. I wish to be your pupil.
  • Artifact of Doom: Misuse can easily lead to this, as Scruple found out first hand.
  • Deadpan Snarker: He has his moments.
Book of Spells: Even though I have this form, these covers were not meant to keep me warm.
  • Empathic Weapon: The Great Book of Spells may not be a weapon, but he is clearly sentient and responds not just to the words of a request, but the motivations and emotions behind it.
  • Power at a Price: His entire existence works around this. In exchange for answering a request, he always gives the supplicant a mission. The harder, or more demanding a request, the more taxing the mission.
  • Punch-Clock Hero / Punch-Clock Villain: He is only awake one day a month and must answer requests properly asked of him during that time.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: On his last appearance in the series, Scruple and a handful of Smurfs appeared before him on the cusp of sunset. While The Book of Spells was going to completely ignore Scruple's request for a new magic wand, due to lack of time, he did answer the much harder request from the Smurfs because the request was reasonable.
Book of Spells: There is no more time...!
Smurfs: Stop the ice before we freeze. Oh, please, please, please!
Book of Spells: Ahh. At last, a reasonable request. Cackle like a chicken twice, and that will put an end to ice.
    Smurfs: Baka-Kaw! Baka-Kaw!
    [The magically summoned glacier disappears.]
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: The Book Of Spells never appears in the series after Scruple's and the Smurfs' encounter with it, but the incident highlights how Revenge is Gargamel's primary motivation in everything he does. Gargamel was willing to completely overlook the Smurfs Scruple had in hand, purely for the sake of getting revenge on Scruple for all the pain and humiliation he endured that episode.
