solace didn't keep much in the way of physical belongings, but did keep a small collection of 45's that she cherished, being a young punk behind the lines of the soviet union.

eires nada was never much for anime, but damn if they don't love themself some fucking sailor moon.

I like to keep my audience riveted.Xerius comes from a race of psionic Human Aliens with incredible psionic ability. High-level Mind Manipulation and Telekinesis... yet they're not a dominant race around the galaxy because their immune system is utterly terrible, and even relatively harmless pathogens can become lethal to them. Mortality rates can get pretty high for them. As such, he needs to wear a sterile isolation suit whenever he wants to exit his spaceship, and its systems run on on a good bit of his psionic power.
If he takes that suit off it means he means business and can and will fight at full power, although he'll fall ill in a matter of minutes. When this happens it becomes more of a "try to survive until he falls ill" than a fight.
...ehehPeople who have only recently met her tend to assume that Aseyu ul'Valmonth vashon'Suela's libertine views on sex and acceptable conversational topics extend to the rest of her behavior. They don't; for religious and philosophical reasons, she abstains strictly from all intoxicants, even caffeine, and while she isn't opposed to others using drugs or alcohol per se, her long-term polyamorous relationships are only ever with those who rarely or never do so.
Sigmund Clark and Alice Winters have a long-term in-joke wherein Alice intermittently tries to get Sigmund to admit the possibility that they are all fictional characters in a fictional universe. Or, to be more specific, that the famous "cogito ergo sum" is based upon flawed premises and, despite perceiving themselves as conscious, thinking beings, they cannot outright cannot dismiss the possibility that they are a network of thoughts contained within a writer's mind, existing in a static work like a movie, comic book, or novel. Alice has no special meta-knowledge and lives in a world where the fourth wall is completely solid aside from occasionally being leaned on (usually by her); it's just a way to keep Sigmund on his toes. In fact, she'd worry Sigmund, who is over a decade her senior, was starting losing his edge if she ever actually convinced him.

Were you inspired by Bubble Boy, a real-life person who had no immune system and wore a protective suit?
edited 22nd Jul '17 7:10:16 AM by hellomoto
Nope, I was actually inspired by 1. The War of the Worlds Martians and 2. Mass Effect Quarians, both of whom are alien races with terribly weak immune systems.

...ehehFor my characters, when Kung-Fu Wizard Lei starts pondering a problem or forming a theory, she has a habit of stopping mid conversation or mid sentence to consider something that's occurred to her, suddenly muttering to herself about something completely unrelated to whatever she was just talking about.
When outsiders to the group wonder why nobody stops Lei when she gets like this, they're told Theo, the group's leader, won't let them because he finds it sexy.
Aubrey- In addition to wanting to become a master mage, wants to create and market the perfect cocktail.

Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men?Prince Lyf and Princess Sugar are members of two different royal families in a world based on the various food groups. Everyone in this world appears to be Anthropomorphic Food except members of royalty, who appear human.
They only appear human on the outside, however, since Lyf and Sugar are most definitely not human on the inside — their flesh and organs appear to be replaced by ever-shifting food (fruits/veggies for Lyf, various sweet foods for Sugar). If you for example cut off Sugar's arm, you'd see a cross section of cake one time, the same incident could cause a cross-section of chocolate for example.
Dismemberment is a very minor inconvenience for them and foodpeople since they get put back together in the current or next "scene" thanks to Toon Physics. It does hurt like heck, however.
...ehehWhen people discover Thuexatiqome is a Time Abyss, they usually pepper them with questions about historical eras. Disappointment inevitably results; for the vast majority of their existence they aimlessly wandered Mesopotamia, Persia, and occasionally western Afghanistan, consciously avoiding major urban centers or anything that threatened to be historically interesting after a Noodle Incident in Ur. (Which happened well after The Epic Of Gilgamesh was written, they hasten to add.)

"Leftover items still have value!"I'll do one about my main trio:
- George has a thing for goth girls.
- Phil kept the facehugging cephalopod he met on the bus as a pet.
- Liz is a closet fan of Tom And Jerry.
Preston Yarrans, the closest we get to the Evil Genius, is actually terrible at chess, but continues to play because he hopes he'll get better at it.
Kate Tully doesn't own a TV; she cannot stand sitting around doing nothing, and would rather spend her spare time doing something practical. As a result, her office has a perpetual smell of cleaning supplies and all her work colleagues own about five handcrafted birdhouses each.
Ben Travers, Vincent Hawkyns, and Reuben Whormby, the cameramen that Emma ropes into her plan, are all named after characters from Doctor Who, specifically the episode that was hijacked by the Max Headroom incident. Hawkyns is also writing his own script for a film that will, in the future, be turned into a film and star an expy of Adam Sandler. Whormby is also a fan of sailing and is friends with a naval officer named Peter Payne, hoping that the two of them together can save up enough to purchase their own vessal. Travers is also a fairly good marathon runner and has managed to get a time of under three hours.
I now use the account Bennings if you care at allArilay is a Technopath cyborg who perceives both her reconstructed body and every other machine that she controls at any given moment as part of her body. This is because one of her Electronic Telepathy microchips was specifically cross-wired to the part of her brain responsible for proprioceptionnote during her Emergency Transformation.
Sometimes when Arilay plugs into or wirelessly connects to a spaceship in order to pilot it, a glitch will accidentally map some random controls as an erogenous zone in addition to their usual function, which leads to awkwardness if someone uses those controls.
If not for this anchor I'd be dancing between the stars. At least I can try to write better vampire stories than Twilight.I'll do a bit about my characters (partly because only three people 'have' quirks to begin with): I haven't been active in a long time. Please forgive my bad markup.
- Akiko: Has a quirk of smiling when she's lying. She's a prostitute, so she does a lot of both. You know, that kind of tight-lipped smile that almost reaches the eyes.
- Seiichi: Akiko's husband. Tries his best to be a tough manly-man without succumbing to toxic levels of masculinity. Two quirks: he wants to talk about feelings and things (which weirds out his wife), and he likes making clothing out of pelts and skins and is damn handy with a needle. The first is a quirk mainly for his time and place of Medieval and early modern Japan.
- Yuuta: A monk. Akiko's first serious and positive relationship. He's prone to falling asleep while meditating and has learned how to disguise it. Of course he berates anyone else for doing this.
- Jing: A [Main/Kitsune] from China. Has a few screws loose and more than a couple fingers missing. He always likes to be touching something, very hands-on. Without personal space boundaries, that "thing" is usually a someone.
- Mizuki: Akiko and Seiichi's daughter. Likes to sing when she thinks she's alone, or when she's working. She can't sing well.
- Akira: Akiko's son and Mizuki's younger brother. Ends up being a blacksmith. Enjoys cooking more than his wife does.
- Inagi: He's a major antagonist for a significant part of the story, and the guy who had Seiichi's job (of tribe chief, basically). He's an obligate carnivore who happens to really, really like tiny berries.
Edward Sutherland can't show emotion naturally.
Apparently this version of Hyde looks like a Jojo's character. According to people who have seen that anime and I guess understand it.A (intentionally) unnamed character of mine has the passive ability to make anybody or anything unable to ask for his name no matter what. If it's a lifeform or sentient being or somebody trying to get at him with a speaking device, they will lack any motivation to ask his name. If it's a machine recording "What is your name" or "May I know your name" or anything thereof, it'll malfunction or fail to speak the recording. If it's written letters, the person or object will be subtly compelled not to show it.

...ehehThe Witch of the Wood rarely accepts money as payment for her services. While she understands the idea of material wealth, she rarely has a use for it, as she can easily grow her own food, sew her own clothing and gather firewood and building materials in her forest home, and the times where she needs to buy anything in human settlements are incredibly rare (and rarer still ever since she started growing her own tea leaves).
Instead, she offers her magical services in return for physical goods or else favours and services (not that kind, you perv) equal in value to the service rendered. The only instance in which she accepts money as payment is when she is asked to perform a task so trivial that she does not think there's a trade insignificant enough to be equal to it.
One of my characters is Lei. One of her quirks is a tendency to, when deep in thought, begin talking to herself. However, to someone who actually listens to her, it almost sounds like she's having an actual conversation they can only hear her half of. When the other characters meet Lei's twin sister, however, it begins to make sense.
The two routinely carry on a quick fire conversation between one another without ever missing a beat. The others realize that what they took as her taking to hearing was, in fact, Lei imagining her sister's responses, essentially simulating Twin Banter to aid her thought process.

Shaira, despite being an Immortal Assassin and Aloof Dark-Haired Girl was actually once married with three children, the loss of whom she still mourns deep down.
Nikolai is obsessive about making sure he always has enough food on hand.
Bjorn can't resist showing off his magic skills to people who aren't magically gifted. Particularly if they're unknowingly Mugging the Monster, with him being the monster in question. Because in that case, he does it painfully.

"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisEva has a tendency to brush her cheek against her shoulder when feeling uneasy.
Ignatia absolutely loves to dance. It actually helped her get used to her wings and tail after her Freak Lab Accident.
Maequoql likes to levitate tiny rocks near whoever she's contacting when she's making long-distance telepathic calls to strangers and acquaintances. She doesn't bother levitating if she's contacting family or fellow members of the Web of Friendship.

Aria appears to be a normal Terran (basically a human but slightly stronger, tougher, faster, hardy) for all intents and purposes... except she lacks a soul. Thanks to having her soul forcefully put into a strange bio-metallic Organic Technology mech, it now resides there, and if she goes too far from it she will drop dead (the mech can respawn another body for her). She's also quite the snarker and even calls the mech "Lucifer" simply because "Some ****ers sold my soul to it, so I decided to name it that."
