Has a cover, but file size is almost 1 MB too large. Number of adjustment layers to make a dusk appearance probably did it. It's on story links.

  • Brutal Honesty:
Cú Chulainn: I swear it doesn't matter the era, humans are and will always be a pain in the ass!
  • Bullet Dodges You: Cú Chulainn's Protection From Arrows skill has a slightly misleading name. It isn't just arrows it blocks but it can be that any projectile attack is knocked away before they even touch him.
  • Calling Your Attack: The name of a Servant's Noble Phantasm, their trump card, is said right before use. This is a requirement to use the weapon or skill's true power. However, the use of one has to be strategicly planned, since the name of the Noble Phantasm is the one the hero, an actual historical or mythological figure, used in their legend or is linked to, it can give out their True Name. The name requirement is Averted for some Noble Phantasms. Examples are Achilles' Andreias Amarantos and Dromeus Komētēs, both being continuously active. He just needs to whistle to summon Troias Tragōidia.

  • Cool Mask: Hassan wears a white mask shaped like a skull. It hides that he doesn't have a face.
  • Cool Sword:
    • Altera's Photon Ray has a tricolor blade and used to belong to the War God Mars.
    • The sword Cú Chulainn used when he was alive, Cruaidín Catutchenn, is demonic and has a glowing blade.
  • Conveniently Unverifiable Cover Story:
    • The coma incidents weren't explained as the people in the affected buildings being drained but rather as a series of gas leaks.
    • Kirei has to come up with a story to conceal any supernatural messes made during the War.
  • Covered with Scars: Assumed Cú Chulainn is since he's a lifelong warrior but if he is, they're so faint that they can only be seen up close. The only noticeable one is on the side of his neck from someone's failed attempt to cut his head off.
  • Creepy Doll: Ren has a collection of dolls that freak his roommate, Akira, out.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Servants are more powerful than those considered the strongest humans and though it is possible for a Servant to be defeated by one if they can bypass a Servant's Nigh-Invulnerability, it usually requires another Servant to kill one.
  • Curse: Gandr is a Nordic curse where a bullet of magical energy has to hit the victim to be invoked. It can be one of two ways in severity. The single-action type is able to make someone with magic circuits sick basically. A Finn shot is capable of destrying the victim's heart.
  • Cute Little Fangs: Cú Chulainn has canine teeth that are a little longer than a normal person's.

  • Determinator:
    • Even though Himori gets run through by the Bronze-Link Manipulator, he doesn't care about further damage done to his body as he tries to disconnect it.
    • Cú Chulainn is probably one of the best Heroic Spirits in the Throne of Heroes when it comes to survival. As proof, in another War in another timeline he lasted 12 straight hours against Gilgamesh, who is probably the strongest Heroic Spirit.
  • Do Not Call Me "Paul": Altera dislikes the sound of the name Atilla.

  • The End of the World as We Know It: Sefar coming to Earth from the Umbral Star was seen as this.
  • Endearingly Dorky: Despite his attempts at being dignified and that his subordinates fear and respect him, Reisi can act like a dork at times, such as when he thinks his Servant is a werewolf since the man has some canine traits like a sharp sense of smell despite the fact he can see all of Cú Chulainn's stats, including that he isn't one, that it can rule out his common sense.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": All the Servants are referred to by their Class Name example
  • Everyone Can See It: The entire Red Clan knows Izumo has a thing for Seri.
  • Exposed to the Elements: As the bodies of Servants are resistant to temperature extremes, they wouldn't need to wear any gear to protect from it (they can still feel different temperatures).
  • Familiar: Morrigan uses crows as her familiars.
  • First-Name Basis: Cú Chulainn refers to everyone in the Blue Clan by their given name.
  • Flight: Medea can fly on her own. Achilles has to be on his chariot in order to fly.

  • Form-Fitting Wardrobe: Cú Chulainn's Celtic outfit leaves little to the imagination regarding how ripped he is.

  • Götterdämmerung: While Sefar was razing the Earth, she was striking down gods. All this began the decline of the Age of the Gods.
  • The Gunslinger: Tenkei fights with a revolver.
  • Healing Hands: Cú Chulainn is capable of healing injuries with his rune magecraft.
  • Healing Factor: A trait of all Servants. How fast they can regenerate depends on the severity of the injury and the amount of mana they have, a flesh wound typically closed in a second.
  • Heroes Gone Fishing: Cú Chulainn has fishing as a hobby that relaxes him.
  • Horsing Around:
    • White Bean Tofu Stew is a horse Strain in the care of SCEPTER 4. It had kicked Andy in the face three times.
    • One of Cú Chulainn's horses when he was alive, Liath Macha, had kicked him in the face. He thinks that's the hardest Láeg ever laughed at him.

  • I Regret Nothing: Cú Chulainn doesn't regret his past because he thinks it's stupid to want to change events gone by.
  • Invisibility: Spirit form puts the Servant in a state where they can't harm nor be harmed. This is ideal for scouting purposes since only a Servant can see those in spirit form. But anyone with a high Presence Concealment rank is invisible even to Servants.
  • Is It Something You Eat?: Cú Chulainn thinks the term sexual harassment refers to weapons or food.
  • It's Personal: Since Reisi is too idealistic, which Tenkei hates, he wants the Blue King to die.
  • Knight Templar Parent: Achilles calls Izumo a helicopter mom to Anna since he always has strict safety rules for her.

    M-W

  • Magic Must Defeat Magic: Servants' bodies reject science so only attacks with a supernatural enhancement can damage them.
  • The Medic: Scáthach made Cú Chulainn an expert at treating injuries from combat for when he can't rely on his runes.
  • Mistaken for Pedophile: Achilles was about to take Anna on his chariot and one of his horses, Xanthus, accused him of being a lolicon.
  • Moment Killer: Reisi cockblocked Cú Chulainn, who was about to have sex with Achilles, an enemy Servant.

    • For lighting cigarettes, he uses a really weak Ansuz rune.
    • Medea used her Noble Phantasm, Rule Breaker, to try killing a mouse.
  • Nice Guy: Even though Cú Chulainn can be vulgar, savage, and crude at times, he's actually a really kind person. Seri describes his touch as incredibly gentle.
  • Nigh-Invulnerable: Servants are spirits. Because of this, they're incredibly durable and conventional weaponry is useless on them. They can only be harmed by attacks with a magical, spiritual, or conceptual enchantment. Include their Class and Personal skills and they can be a pain to fight. Anything contaminated with magical energy can also damage them.
  • No-Sell: Because of Andreias Amarantos, Achilles can't be harmed by anyone lacking Divinity or without a Divine Construct, aside from his heel. Damaging it badly enough causes this Noble Phantasm to go away until his next summoning.
  • Normally, I Would Be Dead Now: The Battle Continuation skill allows a Servant to remain alive for a time even after having a fatal wound dealt, such as the loss of their spirit core.
  • Not Quite Flight: Platforms of mana can be created to give the user footing in the air.
  • Not What It Looks Like: Himori and Yuujirou see Reisi's face in Seri's boobs, Seri hurriedly telling them he just tripped after the two Clansmen assume their King and his lieutenant have something going on.
  • One-Man Army: Cú Chulainn was literally one when he was alive. He single-handedly fought in and even won a war. Some of his survival was owed to his use of guerrilla tactics.
  • Our Fairies Are Different: The Six Great Mother and Father fairies in the Reverse Side of the World forged the sword that killed Sefar.
  • Our Homunculi Are Different: Homunculi are artificial humans. Lorelei von Einzbern is a clone of Justeaze Lizrich von Einzbern. As such, she has magic circuits that allow her to be the vessel for the Lesser Grail.
  • Our Gods Are Different: Gods used to be the dominant species so belief in the divine used to dominate the world. The main vessels for the 12 Olympian Gods were machines. Sefar was regarded as a distant god-like being.
  • Our Spirits Are Different: Though Servants appear to be creatures of flesh and blood, they are in fact Heroic Spirits from any time period and held in a place existing outside of reality, known as the Throne of Heroes. They can go into spirit form to be freed of any bindings and to phase through solid objects.
  • Our Vampires Are Different: Dead Apostles are vampires. Like vampires, blood powers them. They can go out in the day, but sunlight steadily degrades the blood's genetic material, which is required for Dead Apostles to live.
  • Our Werewolves Are Different: When Andy thinks that Cú Chulainn's a werewolf, he imagines his wolf form is bipedal with blue fur and red eyes. In addition, he also thought the Servant was going to howl at the full moon on night 3.

  • Person of Mass Destruction: Sefar was gradually destroying the world and wouldn't stop until only ocean remains.
  • Playing with Fire: Since he's the Red King, Mikoto can use this element.
  • Power Tattoo: Command Seals look like red tattoos on the back of the right hand of the Masters. But they can be used to give their Servant an absolute order. As each is only made up of three strokes, a Command Seal can only be used three times. A Servant can sense if a human has one and one that has a Servant can be sensed as leaking mana.
  • Professional Gambler: Thanks to Gilgamesh's Golden Rule skill, he's a natural winner at gambling. He considers it just a chore of reclaiming what's already his.
  • Public Bathhouse Scene: The entire Special Squad washes off the sweat from sparring against Cú Chulainn, joined by Reisi and Cú Chulainn.
  • Pure Magic Being: Servants, though they look to have bodies like humans, are in fact humanoids comprised of magical energy. Their status as spirits is the reason they have a superhuman level of strength and can be hard to kill. But Servants require mana to survive like humans require blood.
  • Really 700 Years Old: A Servant's physical appearance shouldn't distract from the fact that five out of these seven are from BC.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning:
    • Cú Chulainn, Gilgamesh, and Altera have red eyes. If you value your life then don't piss them off.
    • Zouken, who has red eyes, is a Dead Apostle.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni:
    • The Red is the free-spirited and with a devil-may-care attitude Cú Chulainn and the Blue is the orderly and rational Blue Clan.
    • HOMRA could also be the red oni since Cú Chulainn matches them, according to Seri.
    • The Knights of the Red Branch are a free-spirited group that could stage a battle one day then party that same night to forget all about it. The Blue Clan is the opposite, which is why Cú Chulainn struggles to fit in.
  • Runic Magic: Cú Chulainn is capable of using Odin's 18 runes, but it was ranked down from Primordial Rune since his Class isn't Caster.

    • Achilles got this from Misaki after phasing through a wall in front of him.
    • Akira's reaction after Reisi speaking behind him without knowing the man's right there.
  • Semi-Divine: Some Servants have the Divinity skill, which can come from them being a demigod. These are Cú Chulainn, Achilles, Heracles, and Gilgamesh. Altera has a high rank in Divinity due to formerly being Sefar.

  • Soul Eating: Servants have to drain others in order to live, be it steadily taking mana or draining someone enough to kill them.
  • Specs of Awesome: Reisi is the only King who wears glasses. As you could find out the hard way, he isn't a King for nothing.
  • The Speechless: Heracles only roars. He is able to speak telepathically, but only when he isn't fighting.
  • Spider-Sense: Cú Chulainn jumped out of range for Zabaniya before it could be activated but he doesn't know why.
  • Spiky Hair: It wasn't from hair gel that the top of Cú Chulainn's hair sticks up but from washing it in lime water.
  • Spit Take: Achilles' reaction to Izumo saying the former once had sex with a dead body. Achilles told Izumo it didn't happen in the timeline he's from and to never bring it up again.
  • Squishy Wizard: Medea is great at magecraft but is hopeless with self-defense.
  • Super-Empowering: Medea uses her magecraft to reinforce Ichigen enough so he can fight Servants on equal footing.
  • Super-Hearing: Cú Chulainn can hear someone breathing from 40 meters away.
  • Super-Strength: Cú Chulainn can basically bench press something weighing billions of tons. He shows he can definitely handle a lot more weight than a human can by kicking a 300 ton jumbo jet a kilometer away without breaking a sweat. And this is with him being in a severely weakened state! This is shit any Servant with at least B-rank Strength can do.
  • Sword of Damocles: When a King goes over a certain mana output, a physical mass of power in the shape of a sword called a Sword of Damocles materializes over them.
  • Thanks for the Mammary: Subverted. When Reisi fell into Seri, she thought his hands would end up on her boobs, not the sides of her chest.

  • Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: Cú Chulainn wanted to have sex with Emer when he was 14.
  • Unaffected by Spice:

    • Kirei was able to consume two plates of super-spicy mapo tofu without so much as flinching.
  • Urban Fantasy: The story take place in the Tokyo Metropolis at the end of December 2012.

  • Warrior Prince: Cú Chulainn is a prince and is a member of the Knights of the Red Branch.
  • Weapon-Based Characterization: Hassan, an Assassin Servant who prefers fighting from the shadows, uses knives as weapons.
  • Weapon of Mass Destruction: Noble Phantasms have varying levels of destructive power. Those on the low end, Anti-Army, are only effective for wiping out large amounts of people. The highest classification is Anti-World/Anti-Planet. The name of the category tells you the scale the area of effect is capable of being at.
  • Workaholic: Reisi stayed up working until almost 5 in the morning!
  • World's Best Warrior: There are actually three. Saber, Lancer, and Archer, collectively called the Three Knight Classes, are supposedly the strongest Servants in a straight fight during a Grail War.
  • Worthy Opponent: Gilgamesh and Enkidu enjoyed fighting each other and were laughing at the end of it.
