Marshal Moo Montana

Voiced by: Pat Fraley

The leader of the C.O.W.-Boys.

  • The Ace: Moo Montana is seen as a capable and competent individual who's loved and respected by nearly everyone, especially Cody.
  • Actor Allusion: He's not the first marshal Pat Fraley's voiced in a Saturday-Morning Cartoon (in fact he used the exact same voice for both).
  • Alliterative Name: His first and last name both start with M.
  • Chick Magnet: He's had numerous women interested in him.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: The first episode has Montana get so flustered by Lily's proximity that he fumbles his Mad Libs Catchphrase - the Code of the West says many things, but "your eyes are beautiful" is probably not one of them.
    • He was also enamored by Sadie Wowcow flirting with him during her entrance.
  • Four-Temperament Ensemble: Moo Montana is Choleric.
  • Freudian Trio: He's the ego to Cowlarado's id and Dakota's superego.
  • Genius Bruiser: He's both highly intelligent and a capable fighter.
  • The Gunslinger: His trusty pistol is his preferred weapon, and he's one of the best shots in all of Moo Mesa.
  • The Hero: He is the main hero and leader of the C.O.W.-Boys.
  • Heroic Spirit: His determination is one of his defining factors.
  • I Gave My Word: In "No Face to Hide", he's sure Sheriff Terrorbull somehow cheated his way into winning the bet but, until he can prove it, he'll leave Cowtown for good as agreed. When Lily Bovine asks him not to, he regretfully says he gave his word.
  • The Leader: Of the C.O.W. Boys of course.
  • Strong and Skilled: He both a capable rider and one of the best shots in the series. Justified as he is The Leader and has to keep his skills up so he can lead the others properly during their missions.
  • Trademark Favorite Drink: Lily's sarsaparilla served at the Tumbleweed.

Dakota Dude

Voiced by: Jim Cummings

The strongest member of the C.O.W.-Boys.

  • Alliterative Name: Both parts of his name begin with the letter D.
  • Amazon Chaser: He falls in love with the tomboyish Cowlamity Kate.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: He prefers to use his hands in a battle as opposed to a weapon.
  • Berserk Button: Never threaten or disrespect Cowlamity Kate.
  • The Big Guy: He is the strongest of the three bovine lawmen.
  • Blue Is Heroic: He's blue and a brave hero as well.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Dakota, after being defeated by Skull Duggery and his gang in "Skull Duggery Rides Again", ends up having his mind controlled by them.
  • Charles Atlas Superpower: He can lift boulders and other heavy objects over his head with ease.
  • Fatal Flaw: Wrath. He's usually quite calm, but on the rare occasion he loses his temper, something bad always happens. This is the main reason he was defeated and brainwashed by Skull Duggery and his gang in "Skull Duggery Rides Again".
  • Four-Temperament Ensemble: Dakota is Phlegmatic.
  • Freudian Trio: He's the superego to Moo's ego and Cowlarado's id.
  • Genius Bruiser: He's actually both quite strong and intelligent, which makes sense considering that he took school very seriously when he was younger.
  • Number Two: When Moo wasn't around, Dakota would often take up the role as leader.
  • The Quiet One: He speaks a lot less than his friends.
  • Top-Heavy Guy: He has a muscular torso that is far bigger than his legs.

  • Brainy Brunette: He's smart enough to invent Moo Mesa's first telephone which is instrumental to helping the C.O.W. Boys defeat Mules Burne in the episode "The Wild Wild Pest".
  • Child Prodigy: He was able to make a working telephone for others in Moo Mesa to use with ease.
  • Happily Adopted: He has no known parents, but is shown to be perfectly fine living with Miss Lily.
  • Hero-Worshipper: For Moo, to the point he wishes to become a deputy.
  • Kid-Appeal Character: Cody is a perfect example of this.

  • Fiery Redhead: Sheriff Terrorbull counts because his hide is red and he's often very angry.
  • Final Boss: He is the final boss of the arcade game, in his Masked Bull disguise.
  • A Fool for a Client: Subverted in "Bulls of a Feather". When Sheriff Terrorbull is taken to court for his crimes as the Masked Bull, he doesn't have a lawyer but Judge Bulloney does the cross-examination and shows a good reason to deem the prosecution's witness unreliable.
  • Genius Bruiser: He's both very intelligent and very powerful.

  • Karma Houdini Warranty: In the arcade game, however, he is thrown into Cowtown Jail at the end of the game.

  • The Man Behind the Man: Mayor Bulloney is the reason the Masked Bull commits his crimes and keeps coming back.
  • Mayor Pain: He's a corrupt mayor.
  • Purple Is Powerful: In a political sense. He's purple and is the mayor of Cowtown.
  • The Unfought: He makes a brief appearance in the arcade game, but is never faced in a boss fight.

  • From Nobody to Nightmare: A literal example when the greedy miner Tom Duggery was revived from death, he became a vengeful ghost with spectral powers.
  • Knight of Cerebus: He's one of the most dangerous villains in the series.

A mad scientist wolf who lives alone. Bat Blastagun conspired with him in "How the West was Shrunk".

The Great Bovini

A ringmaster who owned a crystal he used to hypnotize people.

  • Evil Sounds Deep: At times he could reach this point.
  • Mind-Control Eyes: He has a stone that he uses to hypnotize people into stealing for him. The stone shrinks the victims' eyes. Boot Hill Buzzard, whose eyes are already that small, isn't affected.
