Click to see her starting from Chapter 27

A 13-year-old Afro-Latina girl who became friends with Anne and her friends after she got expelled from her last school and started attending St. James. She represents the purple gem of courage on the Calamity Box.

  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade:
    • In canon Luz was clearly comfortable in her sexual orientation, being more flustered at the prospect of people flirting with her than whether they were male or female. Here, she does not realize this about herself until halfway through the first arc, and having her first crush on a girl leaves her with anxiety over the whole thing.
    • Rather than choosing to remain in the other world like in canon, Luz is dragged along to Amphibia when the girls open the Calamity Box, and spends the first few days desperately trying to survive. To make things worse, this occurred shortly after having a falling out with Anne.
  • Adaptational Backstory Change: In the show, Luz lives in Connecticut and is regarded as a weirdo due to her tactics. Here, Luz lives in California and had been expelled from her last school due to her tactics, leading her to be transferred to St. James and kickstarting the whole story.
  • Adaptation Personality Change: The canon Luz is a All-Loving Heroine who treats nearly anyone without any malice except for the irredeemable Emperor Belos. This version is a Byronic Hero who has a deep hatred towards anyone who wronged her, especially her former friend Sasha.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: In canon, she ended up in Ship Tease with Amity before the pair eventually got together and remained that way for the rest of the series. Here, Luz gets paired up with Anne while Amity gets Ship Tease with Marcy before they even meet.
  • Age Lift: No, "regression". Luz is aged down by a year.
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: As Uodeela begins training her in using her Calamity powers, Luz starts her lesson off managing to focus but gets a random thought and admits she has trouble emptying her mind. When she hears Uodeela tell her to imagine bending air, Luz begins to describe the Avatar franchise forcing Uodeela to yell at her so she'll concentrate.
  • Be Yourself: Luz is a strong believer in this, and it's the reason why she refuses to fall in line with Sasha's demands.
  • Byronic Hero: This version of Luz is more angrier and edgier due to being manipulated by Sasha into kissing Anne and ruin their friendship, being sent to Amphibia against her will, and Uodeela being stuck as a Red Heron.
  • Cheaters Never Prosper: Played for Drama. Luz attempts to use her Calamity powers in an attempt to beat the flipwart challenge, but the second her eyes change color, she gets electrocuted and sees the opponent's flipwart king wagging its finger, realizing it won't allow her.
  • Coming-Out Story: Luz did research and found several of these online in order to figure out her recent feelings for Anne. She eventually realizes she's bisexual since she's always been attracted to guys up until now.
  • Commonality Connection:
    • Luz and Anne bond over anime and The Legend of Korra.
    • Marcy immediately bonds with Luz upon discovering they're both fans of the Good Witch Azura. She even collaborating on a fanfic together with Luz, with whom also have a strong love of magic and later discover they also enjoyed Cynthia Coven. Luz also knows the feeling of being alone all too well, and that's why she ends up sympathizing with Marcy after she admits she Hates Being Alone and didn't want to lose her friends because she was moving.
  • Crazy-Prepared: To counter the heat of the fourth temple, Luz brought a potion that keeps the drinker cool in hot environments. She gives it to the Plantars so they can stay hydrated.
  • Crush Blush: Upon developing a crush on Anne, Luz's cheeks flush just from being around her.
  • A Day in the Limelight: In a rare instance for a protagonist, Luz is the star of the one-shot "Luz Around Town" for the first time in the series.
  • Didn't Think This Through: In trying to stick it to Sasha and be herself by wearing the otter costume, Luz hadn't taken into account how difficult it would be for her to dance in it.
  • Double Weapon: From Chapter 27 to Chapter 40, she wields Uodeela's staff, the end of which has been sharpened so it can double as a spear.
  • Foil:
    • To Marcy. Both are teenagers that have a particular interest in fantasy and close friends of Anne who Hates Being Alone. Marcy serves as Anne's Childhood Friend while Luz had only known Anne for a few months. Luz is more sensitive to others' feelings and situations while Marcy tends to ignore them due to being Innocently Insensitive. Their family lives also contrast with Luz living with her caring single mother, while Marcy is shown to have controlling and strict parents, and Luz wasn't willing to separate from her mother while Marcy has spent months running away from her parents with no intention of returning.
    • To Belos. Both have strong influence on Sasha. They both appear to be caring for her, but the difference is Luz had genuinely tried to bring out the best of Sasha while Belos is just trying to use her personal feelings for his own gain. In the end, Belos has done more harm to Sasha’s relationships than Luz.
  • Heel Realization: Implied. Luz realizing Sasha's neglectful home life and her mother's missing her inspires her to make up with Sahsa for real.
  • Homeschooled Kids: Becomes one in Arc 5. While Anne and Luz are able to go back to school, they choose to continue their education with online studies since they don't want to fan any rumor flames about their relationship.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: As much as Luz hopes Anne'll want to date her when they return to Earth, she knows it's Anne's choice and if she chooses to date Sasha, then Luz will have to accept it.
  • Large Ham: After being challenged by Mr. Boonchuy in a games of Smash, Luz dramatically said she would do it for thr honor of dating Anne.
  • Like Brother and Sister: Gender-Inverted. Unbeknownst to Luz, Marcy treats Luz as the sister Marcy never had as she's the only one sharing her interests. This is why Marcy had been devastated she's moving, because she might never see Luz again.
  • Official Couple: As of "Coming Home", she has entered a relationship with Anne.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Everyone's come to know Luz as always being sweet and eternally accepting, so to see her consumed by fury and declaring her hatred towards Sasha and Grime is very surprising and concerning.
  • Out of Focus: Even though she's the main character, not even Luz has appeared in every chapter. She's absent in "What's Anne Been Up To?", "Sasha's Story", "Newtopian News", "Barrel's Warhammer", and "Toadcatcher" all of which focus on Anne, Sasha, Amara, and Sasha & Gustav respectively. She's naturally absent in the second half of Arc 5 save as a projection in "Turning Point" and the Season Finale because the story shows what's been happening in Amphibia since she and her friends were sent to Earth. Until "The Lyft Ride", she hadn't appeared in any of the one-shots, which are either Distant Prologues, occur on earth, or take place at a time where she's not present at the moment.
  • Purple Is Powerful: She represents the purple gem of Courage from the Calamity Box, and she becomes a force to be reckoned with when her powers allow her to start utilizing potions that give her elemental abilities.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: In "Dinner and a Show", Luz opts to skip the dinner party since she doesn't want to be anywhere near Sasha and goes to try and get her powers working. Sprig attempts to join her, but it's subverted since Hop Pop forces him to stay.
  • Secret-Keeper:
    • Upon realizing Lilly sees no reason to tell her father about her temporarily death, Luz agrees to keep it to herself.
    • Luz refrains from telling everyone about her calamity powers, not wanting Anne and Marcy to be disappointed if they don't acquire their own.
  • Significant Wardrobe Shift: When she starts attending St. James Middle, Luz has to wear the school's uniform which resembles Anne's but with dark blue tights. She ends up in Amphibia wearing it and it gets stained by mud. Before Luz sets off for Wartwood to meet up with Anne, Lilly, Gustav and Amara give her a new outfit for her journey, complete with new boots, gloves, cloak, and accessories.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Luz manages to tap into her Calamity gem powers earlier than Anne did in canon, allowing her to utilize her potions more effectively in a fight.
  • Tranquil Fury: After hearing Sasha's "apology", Luz starts to speak in a cold tone that builds to a calm one dripping with rage before blowing up at Sasha.

    Anne Boonchuy

Anne Savisa Boonchuy

A 13-year-old Thai-American girl who befriends Luz and makes her part of her friend group. True to canon, she finds a music box that sends her and her friends to Amphibia and tries to find a way to get back home. She represents the blue gem of heart on the Calamity Box.

  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade:
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Downplayed. Anne in this story has some rather more unpleasant moments such as ending her friendship with Luz and wanting her childhood friends dead after learning their misdeeds. That said, it usually happens under others' influence or stress.
  • Adaptational Sexuality: While her orientation is left vague in the canon show, in this AU, Anne is shown to be either a lesbian or bisexual. This is shown as she admits to enjoying Luz's kiss, despite initially being shocked when it happened. She's later implied to return the latter's feelings upon reuniting.
  • Anger Born of Worry: Anne has a few moments that stem from her concern for Luz:
    • She's so furious with Sasha over her actions, she suggests leaving her in Amphibia to face execution for them since she allowed the fight between Luz and Beatrix to happen.
    • Later when she learns that Luz intentionally fought Beatrix to keep her from joining the invasion, she lays into Luz for putting herself in danger.
  • Bridal Carry:
    • In "Frobo and the Toads", Anne carries an unconscious Luz back home this way, and Luz smiles when she does.
    • Anne does this again as she carries Luz out of the arena in arms as she fades into unconsciousness in "True Colors (Part One)".
  • Closet Key: She serves as Luz's, since Anne's her first female crush.
  • Commonality Connection: Luz and Anne bond over anime and The Legend of Korra.
  • Crush Blush: She has a few of these once she develops feelings for Luz.
  • Cuteness Proximity: Seeing Luz imitate an otter gets Anne cooing over how cute she looks.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Anne gets hers in the chapter "Adventures with Anne".
  • Deuteragonist: Anne serves as this for the series at first, but is replaced by Uodeela in Arc 2. She regains the role in Arc 4.
  • Foil: To Emperor Belos, as they both feel betrayed by the ones they loved. The main difference is that Anne tries to make amends with them while Belos doubles down on his hatred to the point of hurting those that weren't involved in it at all.
  • Heel Realization: Anne breaks down in tears when she remembers her declaration of hatred and death to Sasha, as she realizes she can't face Ms. Waybright if her daughter is dead in Amphibia.
  • Homeschooled Kids: Becomes one in Arc 5 as While Anne and Luz are able to go back to school, they choose to continue their education with online studies since they don't want to fan any rumor flames about their relationship.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: She has this kind of moment on several occasions in the story.
    • In "What's Anne Been Up To?", after thinking about Luz for the last few weeks, Anne begins to feel guilty about ending their friendship, especially after she worries that it could've been the last thing she said to her.
    • In "Mist Reunion", Anne fully regrets ending her friendship with Luz, more so after being shown Luz crying when she did it.
    • In "Coming Home", Anne is left in shock after saying Marcy deserves her fate for tricking the girls into being trapped in Amphibia.
    • In "A Lie That is True", Anne cries in regret for asking for Sasha's execution in "True Colors" and her declaration of hatred to her childhood friend.
  • Official Couple: She and Luz have a Relationship Upgrade in "Coming Home".
  • Parting-Words Regret: The last thing she said to Luz before getting zapped to Amphibia was that she's ending their friendship. By the end of Arc 2, she regrets it, and intends to reconcile with Luz.
  • Significant Wardrobe Shift: Per the recommendation of Luz, Marcy and the Plantars, Anne dons Polianna Plantar's armor consisting of a chestplate with the family's insignia, gauntlets and boots, complete with Tritonio's sword.
  • That Came Out Wrong: Anne, out of growing frustration over Luz saying Marcy could be dead, shouts that Marcy deserved her fate after what she did to them. This causes Luz to run away from everyone while Anne collapses to her knees in regret.

    Sasha Waybright

Sasha Waybright

One of Anne's closet friends, she developed a one-sided distain towards Luz out of paranoia that she'd convince Anne and Marcy to abandon her. Shortly after arriving in Amphibia, Sasha was captured and imprisoned by Grime only to earn his favor and become appointed as his second-in-command, working alongside him to find her lost friends and bring them back home, even if it means harming the friends they make. She represents the pink gem of strength on the Calamity Box.

  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: In canon, it's implied that Sasha's parents divorced when she was quite young. Here, they didn't get divorced and had martial problems until after Sasha disappeared. Moreover, her father is neglectful to her and only cares about work and the goods he provided.
  • Adaptational Backstory Change: In Marcy's Journal: A Guide to Amphibia, Sasha's parents are revealed to be divorced or separated when she was young. Here, her parents are together until she got transported to Amphibia. Her family life also appeared to be dysfunctional, as her father is always on business and absent in her life while her mother teaches her to use manipulative skills and female charms to "control" boys.
  • Adaptation Expansion: It's never implied how Sasha's manipulative skills come from in the show. Here, it's revealed that she learned them from her mother, who uses Femme Fatale charm to take advantage of men.
  • Adaptational Villainy: The author confirmed in a response to a comment for Arc 4's trailer that Sasha's a bit more malicious than in canon due to being influenced by The Voice.
  • All for Nothing: All her plans to keep Luz away from her crush, Anne are ruined when the latter has enough of her controlling behavior.
  • Ambiguous Situation: The one-shot "Sasha's Advice" has a scene in which Sasha suggests to practice kissing with Anne, leaving the latter confused. Furthermore, Luz implies that Sasha might have a crush on Anne too, not just her. No longer ambiguous as of "The Fourth Temple", as Sasha is confirmed to have a crush on Anne.
  • Attention Whore: Downplayed. Sasha desperately craves attention, but she mostly wants it from Anne and her father. She even goes as far as to sabotage Anne's relationship with Luz.
  • Bound and Gagged: Per Andrias' orders and Anne's request respectively, Yunan brings Sasha to the throne room in chains and her mouth gagged so she doesn't cause anymore trouble. Unfortunately, this stops her from warning everyone about Andrias lying to them.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: Her reason of distain to Luz is because she has developed a crush on Anne, her childhood friend.
  • Crossing the Burnt Bridge: In addition of learning her mistakes in "Turning Point", Sasha also faces the Frog Rebellion (including Percy and Braddock) who she fought before.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Downplayed. She acts colder to Luz as she and Anne become closer. She also states that she must date Anne when Belos proposes letting his nephew date her when things go south.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Sasha is the first of the original Amphibia Calamity trio to get one in "Fun with Sasha", and gets to shine for the day in "Sasha's Story". She also gets to share the spotlight with Gustav in the one-shot "Toadcatcher" and the chapter "Barrel's Warhammer".
  • Demonic Possession: Just as the Red Heron was given the cure, Belos takes possession of Sasha, intending to slaughter Grime and the rest of her comrades just because Maddie and Gustav are magic users. The possession only ends when Sasha kills herself.
  • Disney Death: To get rid of Belos, Sasha stabs herself. Thankfully, Gustav had an Elixir of Life and was able to bring her back to life.
  • Do Not Taunt Cthulhu: After Sasha rejects Belos and shows her fearlessness to him, he ends up possessing her and leaves her a hideous scar on the right side of her face.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Sasha is uncomfortable with the plan involving Beatrix battling Luz to the death just to keep her from getting in the Toad Army's way during the rebellion in Newtopia.
  • Evil Is Petty: Sasha becomes friends with Gustav hoping to show off their friendship to Anne and make her regret choosing Sprig over her. It makes Gustav feel less guilty over lying to her.
  • Expy: Surprisingly, this version of Sasha ends up as one to Catra. Both are Tragic Villains with Inferiority Superiority Complex and Insecure Love Interests to their childhood friends. Both have serious parent issues from bad parental figures and strong desires of being loved. They end up being jealous of their crushes' new friends and go to extreme measures to break them up to prevent their crushes from leaving them. They also join another lord in their conquering to gain approval and attention they lack in the past. Both are willing to do anything to keep their best friends who act as their Living Emotional Crutch, but ultimately has enough of their awful behaviors. After realizing how their actions hurt their loved ones, they pull a Heel–Face Turn and face the people they hurt before. Their start of redemption also piss off the male Big Bad, being possessed by them, and end up receiving something from them (Catra a Traumatic Haircut, Sasha a scar from being possessed).
  • Fille Fatale: She uses her feminine charms to manipulate boys, something she learned from her mom.
  • Freudian Excuse: While it's only implied in the show, Sasha here has shown to be living in a quite neglectful and unhealthy environment. Her father is always working and her mother teaches her how to manipulate boys at a young age. The home life is so bad that she cares more about her friends and Grime, and is willing to sabotage Luz and Anne's relationship when they become closer in fear of losing Anne to Luz.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: Sasha tells Luz that she needs to help Grime finish the invasion, who acts more like a father than her real, neglectful one. While Luz is sympathetic with Sasha about her home problems, she tells her that doesn't give her the right to hurt others.
  • Foil:
    • To Luz. Both are Anne's close friends who have crushes on her. Luz tries to make up for her mistakes to Anne while Sasha doubles down on her toxic behavior. It's no wonder Anne chooses Luz in the end.
    • To Amara. Both are Lonely Rich Kids that live in a rich but neglectful environment and are friends with Anne at some point. Amara lives with her classist parents while Sasha has a Disappeared Dad. While Amara is able to see the errors of her ways stemmed from her family life, Sasha cannot and is also able to overcome her mental problems with the help of her new friends, while Sasha couldn't due to the worsening influence of Belos.
  • Go and Sin No More: To prove that she has changed, she has to offer help to Emmanuel, the leader of the Rebellion.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: After losing the scare dare challenge and hearing a strange voice, Sasha starts to become paranoid that Luz will steal Anne and Marcy's friendship from her. It gets to the point that upon learning of Luz crushing on Anne, Sasha sets her up to make a fool of herself, then convinces a distraught Anne to end her friendship with Luz. It gains even more ground with the implications that Sasha has a crush on Anne, too.
  • Hates Being Alone: At one point, she breaks down when Belos creates a vision of Anne rejecting her to be with Luz.
  • Hearing Voices: Sasha hears one which freaks her out enough to lose a Scare Dare Challenge. She soon begins to hear it more often, brushing it off as either someone else speaking or strange thoughts.
  • Humble Goal: Despite doing bad things to Luz and her friends, all she wants is to date her crush Anne, who she's loved for quite some time.
  • I Just Want to Be Loved: Sasha desperately tries to gain attention from others as her father is always absent from her life.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: To end Belos' control over her, Sasha shoves her sword through her chest; it works, and she's soon brought back to life.
  • Inferiority Superiority Complex: It's shown that despite acting hostile to others (mainly Luz), all she wants to gain approval and attention from her loved ones.
  • Insecure Love Interest: In "True Colors", she admits that all she wants is for Anne to be together with her for her true self, not all the things she did.
  • I've Come Too Far: The main reason for Sasha's Redemption Rejection below, feeling she's already burned her bridges, so she might as well keep on her current path.
  • Just a Kid: Deconstructed in "The New Resistance". When Emmanuel learns Sasha's only around 14, he offers her encouragement to learn from her mistakes. However by that time, she ended up in bad terms with her friends, got a nasty scar from Belos's possession, and faced people who want her dead or worse for all the bad things she's done in the past that she deeply regrets. Needless to say, the poor young girl shouldn't be going through that much at her age as she now ends up nearly broken.
  • Living Emotional Crutch: Overlaps with Clingy Jealous Girl. Although she doesn't say it out loud, she highly depends on Anne's company partly because of Parental Neglect, even going as far as to sabotage her relationship with Luz when they become closer.
  • Lonely Rich Kid: Sasha's father is always away on business trips and is rarely at home, making her feel lonely even though she has his money for sleepovers and other activities. It's also implied that she doesn't have any real friends aside from Anne and Marcy at school.
  • Looking for Love in All the Wrong Places: Sasha tries desperately to gain love from her father and Anne. The former doesn't work as he only cares for her appreciation for the things he provided. The latter fails as her repeated attempts to push Luz away ends up endangering Anne and damaging their relationship.
  • Love Hungry: Sasha tries different ways to make Anne stay with her, even ruining her friendship with Luz to accomplish that.
  • Love Makes You Evil: A part of her motivation is to prevent Luz from dating Anne, her childhood friend who she develops a crush on.
  • Moral Myopia: Sasha cannot understand why Anne and later Luz would choose to protect the frogs and salamander respectively who took them in despite admitting that she sees Grime as a better father figure than her own dad.
  • Once Done, Never Forgotten: Luz repeatedly brings up Tadpole Pond, having the image of Grime cutting off Uodeela's tail as Sasha did nothing but watch with a sadistic grin burned into her memory.
  • Psychotic Smirk: Sasha has one when Grime cut off Uodeela's tail
  • Redemption Rejection: Luz's attempts to get Sasha to call off the attack on Tadpole Pond fail, with Sasha leading the charge despite her hesitation.
  • Relationship Sabotage: Sasha sabotages Luz's friendship with Anne as she also has a crush on Anne.
  • A Scar to Remember: While the scar Sasha got from Anne on her left cheek heals, she gains one in the shape of a triangle over her original one as well as her right eye, neither of which the Elixir of Life could heal. The latter serves as a permanent reminder of Belos' possession.
  • Secretly Selfish: Played with and played straight. Sasha convinces Anne that Luz was only friends with them just to come on to her in order to convince Anne to cut ties with Luz. At the same time, Sasha gave off a few hints that she wanted Anne to date her.
  • Seven Deadly Sins: This version of Sasha has displayed all seven traits in some ways:
    • Sloth: She doesn't try earning Anne's affection by changing herself, or going home by making amends with Luz and Anne.
    • Envy: She resents Luz for being closer to Anne than her, to the point of sabotaging their friendship.
    • Greed: Even being a Rich Bitch in the human world can't stop her from trying to gain power in Amphibia and Anne's affection using questionable means.
    • Pride: Partly because of her upbringings, Sasha often thinks about herself and what she wants, even when she thinks she's doing it to help others.
    • Wrath: She resorts to violence or tantrums when she's losing control of the situation she idealized.
    • Gluttony: She hungers for love and attention from others, even going to extremes to gain them.
    • Lust: Even when her crush towards Anne is genuine, it has reached to an unhealthy level of obsession when she's trying to sabotage Luz and Anne's relationship.
  • Sore Loser: Emmanuel points out the clear fact that Sasha really hates losing after the battle of Tadpole Pond.
  • Toxic Friend Influence: Sasha proposes that Anne test the speed of her bike riding down a path that's often full of people in Chapter 1.
  • Troubled Teen: Her neglectful family background and her mother's teachings of manipulations leading her to be a controlling person that tries to prevent Luz from getting with Anne, who she has a crush on. Bonus points adding to The Voice from her head, which is actually from Emperor Belos.
  • Tragic Villain: Sasha's neglectful family life (mainly from her father) ends up causing her to be lonely and desperate for others' love, even when it means going to extremes because of that.

    Marcy Wu

Marcy Wu

Anne's oldest friend, she got transported to Amphibia along with her friends and ended up in the city of Newtopia where she became the pupil of its ruler, King Andrias. She represents the green gem of wit on the Calamity Box.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: In canon, it's implied that Marcy has a tough relationship with her parents. Here, it is further explained that her parents are quite strict with her studies and controlling of her, which partly strained their relationship.
  • Adaptational Sexuality: In canon, Marcy has some Ambiguously Gay moments with Anne and Sasha and her real-life journal depicts a lot of illustrations supporting it. Here, Marcy is confirmed to be a lesbian.
  • Blow You Away: Upon discovering the wind glyph, Marcy begins utilizing it and learns how to hover using tornadoes.
  • Closet Geek: While Sasha complains about Marcy's tabletop game, Marcy retorts that Sasha is actually fairly good at it, having formed her own barbarian tribe.
  • Commonality Connection:
    • Marcy immediately bonds with Luz upon discovering they're both fans of the Good Witch Azura. She even collaborating on a fanfic together with Luz, with whom also have a strong love of magic and later discover they also enjoyed Cynthia Coven. Luz also knows the feeling of being alone all too well, and that's why she ends up sympathizing with Marcy after she admits she Hates Being Alone and didn't want to lose her friends because she was moving.
    • Like with Luz, Marcy starts to bond with Amity once they discover they're both Good Witch Azura fans.
  • Cuteness Proximity: After Marcy sees and gushes over the cat ears on Luz's hoodie, she gets one in green for herself.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Marcy takes the spotlight in the chapter "Writing with Marcy".
  • Demonic Possession: Marcy still gets possessed by the Core for her intellect, but not so it can have a host body.
  • Did I Just Say That Out Loud?: Marcy's reaction upon realizing she called Amity cute out loud: she quickly says she's still delirious.
  • Heroic BSoD: Marcy had already been stuck in one after betraying her friends and while comatose. Her fragile emotional state worsens when Amity forces her to confess that she's responsible for her suffering among everything else Andrias has done, and she breaks down crying which causes Amity to regret her words.
  • It's All My Fault: After Amity blames her for her kidnapping, Marcy breaks down into tears when she realizes her actions has led to her friends' predicament and ruined others' lives by helping Andrias, admitting that she caused all of this herself.
  • Like Brother and Sister: Gender-Inverted. The night before the girls left for Newtopia to go home, Marcy confesses to a sleeping Luz that she sees her as the sister Marcy never had and is devastated she's moving, so she might never see Luz again.
  • Shipper on Deck: Marcy proves herself to be one for Anne and Luz in "Here, There, and Elsewhere" since she leaves the room with Sprig after giving Luz a makeover to give them some privacy.
  • Ship Tease: She finds herself having some with Amity Blight after they start to bond in captivity.
  • The Stations of the Canon: Marcy's time in Amphibia up until the temple quest remains the same. Sadly, she ends up getting stabbed by Andrias, before getting possessed by the Core and becoming "Darcy".
  • What the Hell, Hero?: After Luz hears Marcy's confession, she tells Marcy (and everyone else in the room) that her father died at a young age, leaving her and her mom. She then scolds Marcy for thinking that she was serious about going to another world when she hadn't been thinking straight at the time, leaving her mom alone in the process.

    Camila Noceda

Camila Noceda

Luz's single mother who has her transfer to St. James at the recommendation of Oum Boonchuy, Anne's mother who she becomes close friends with after their daughters vanish.
  • Actually Pretty Funny: Camila can't help laughing when she learns why Anne always calls the Thai elders the "Ba train".
  • Adaptation Expansion: It's only revealed that Camila is bullied in her high school years in the show. Here, she's revealed to be raised Catholic and acts as one of the Immigrant Parents. It's also revealed that she met her husband Manny at a Mana concert.
  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Camila told the Thai elders about how Luz used to call shed snakeskin "pajamas".
  • Commonality Connection: Camila and Mrs. Boonchuy bond over being immigrants to America in search of a better life (Being Dominican and Thai respectively) as well as having very energetic daughters.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Since the one-shot "Bonding Through Grief" is set on Earth, it focuses on Camila and Oum.
  • Experimented in College: Implied. Camila states she stopped going to church while she was in college because she questioned what she was taught about her catholic upbringing.
  • Immigrant Parents: Camila is revealed to be one in the story.
  • Open-Minded Parent: Although Camila is shocked by the possibility that her daughter ran away out of fear towards how she'd react to her orientations, she doesn't hesitate to say she still would've accepted them regardless.
    • Additionally, Camila goes on to say that after Luz was born, she started attending church again so she could raise her daughter to have a good moral grounding.
  • Pet the Dog: Before dropping Luz off, Camila gives her Azura book back as a reward for her work around the house.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Although Camila was angry with Luz for getting expelled, she doesn't scold her right away, waiting a good amount of time for it to sink in before punishing her and telling her they'll find a way around it.
  • Secret Secret-Keeper: Camila refrains from telling her respective daughter about her knowledge of what happened at the dance, deciding to let her relax after learning everything that's happened.
  • Tranquil Fury: Camila remains very calm but angry when she chews out Ms. Bryant.

    Bee and Oum Boonchuy

Anne's parents. They run a restaurant called "Thai Go", and Oum becomes close friends with Camila before and after Luz, Anne and their friends are sent to Amphibia.

  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Bee retains his habit of showing off Anne's baby pictures on his phone.
  • Chew-Out Fake-Out: Bee seems ready to lay into Luz for kissing Anne at the dance, then it turns out he was just messing with her, to his family's shock and annoyance. Of course, Luz proceeds to go along with it.
  • Secret Secret-Keeper: The Boonchuys refrain from telling their daughter about their knowledge of what happened at the dance, deciding to let her relax after learning everything that's happened.

A LAPD detective who investigates the girls' disappearance.
  • Canon Foreigner: The character isn't included in the canon.
  • Fantasy-Forbidding Mother: Downplayed, as her mother doesn't approve of Katie's occupation due to her values, saying it's "a man's job".
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: By making Luz to do a statement about her disappearance for solving the case, she causes Luz to have an emotional breakdown, earning Camila's glare.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: She doesn't put up with the Waybrights' argument or Ms Byrant's bigotry. In "A Lie That Is True", she is exasperated that Camila and the Boonchuys have hidden the fact that their daughters returned and asks them to do a statement regarding the girls' disappearance. When Mr. X takes over, she strongly states her disapproval of his tactics, even when he's in a higher position.

    Melissa Waybright

Melissa Waybright

Sasha's mother.
  • Femme Fatale: Melissa has expertise on using her feminine charms to manipulate men and taught her daughter the same tactics, thereby making Sasha a Fille Fatale.
  • Gone Horribly Right: Melissa teaches Sasha how to use her feminine skills to take advantage of boys. She uses them and it works, on both boys, her female friends, and others. This although allowing her to gain advantages, it also ruins her personal friendships as others begin to leave her for being manipulative to them.
  • Like Mother, Like Daughter: Melissa taught Sasha to use charm to manipulate boys to her advantage, which she does on a regular basis.
  • Manipulative Bitch: Melissa uses manipulation to get males to help her do the work. She's also the one Sasha learns manipulation from.
  • Parents as People: Despite teaching Sasha how to be manipulative and being rather demanding and pushy to the Boonchuys' about her daughter's whereabouts after learning that Anne and Luz both returned without the other two, Melissa still cares about Sasha in her own way and is genuinely worried about where she disappeared to.

    Chris Waybright

Chris Waybright

Sasha's father and a businessman.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: It's heavily implied in canon that he actually cared for Sasha, appearing with his former wife to see her when the trio returned from Amphibia. Here, he's neglectful towards Sasha and decides to forget about her after getting divorced. To the point where Anne begins to despise him.
  • Dramatically Missing the Point: Throughout several points in the story, Chris thinks that Sasha should be grateful for what he provided, and calls her out as being ungrateful when she runs away with others, unaware of other possible factors. In reality, what Sasha wants the most is to spending time with him, and that by finding another family only for appreciation he received, he earns Anne's disgust as he chooses to ignore his missing daughter in favor of being appreciated.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: Chris expects his family to thank him for providing for them. Given that he's a textbook Narcissist, it's hard to not give gratitude without pissing him off.
  • Entitled Bastard: Chris barely spends time with his daughter Sasha, yet he thinks he should receive her gratitude and calls her ungrateful when she has gone missing without thinking other possibilities.
  • Happiness Is Mandatory: Chris takes lessons from inspirational videos and adopt the mindset that he should let go his past and focus on the present and being happiness, leaving Sasha behind in the process. It's ultimately his toxic positiveity that leads Anne to despise him hard.
  • Hate Sink: Chris believes Sasha ran away because she didn't want to be at home with her parents and didn't understand that Sasha only wants to spend time with him. Instead of trying to find Sasha and making an effort to become better, he raucously claimed Sasha being ungrateful and not caring her whereabouts. After divorcing Melissa, he took advice from inspirational videos that led to him dating a woman younger than him with kids who he'd become a father figure for. He also takes them mainly for being more appreciative for things he provided than his original family and forgets about Sasha. This makes him an in-universe one as well, as Anne begins to grow a large amount of contempt towards him for not even being concerned over his missing daughter.
  • It's All About Me: While Chris says he had a bad time with his previous family, it's become clear that all he wants from them are gratitude and respect. He chooses his own happiness first and ditches them for a new one. Even worse, he never once consider he's part of his problems and instead calls out others for their legitimate concerns.
  • Karma Houdini: He still receives no competence despite his terrible treatment to his former family.
  • Mirror Character: Apart from the level of destructiveness, he's one to Belos. Both are powerful men who expects gratitude from others for doing them "good" and never consider their own problems as theirs, instead blaming others. They end up being bad influences on Sasha.
  • Narcissist: Chris thinks that for all the things he provides for his family, he deserves their gratitude. After Sasha's missing and his divorce with Melissa, he chooses to find a new family and forget his old one, thinking they are ungrateful to him. He is ignorant to others' problems and only thinks about himself, yet he expects gratitude and respect from others for the good things he's done.
  • Never My Fault: Chris never once considered Sasha running away has something to do with him, instead blaming her for her actions and ungratefulness. It's implied that he also view this way in his previous marriage.
  • Parents as People: Chris gives his daughter Sasha well-meaning advice about using flattery to form relationships and mentions giving donations to the school to ensure they go easy on her, but in doing so unintentionally undermines her confidence in her own abilities and she misinterprets his advice on business relationships as advice on personal relationships.
  • Wants a Prize for Basic Decency: Chris jumps to conclusion that Sasha running away from home as being ungrateful to him when he provided for her. He finds another family after divorcing Melissa and takes only for appreciating his work. This causes Anne to hate him in the gut.

Amphibia

Tadpole Pond

    Uodeela

Uodeela

A red salamander who's over 500 years old, she's the only teacher of magic left in all of Amphibia. After teaching Maddie Flour, she takes on Lilly, Gustav and Amara as her apprentices and later takes Luz in while helping her find a way home.

  • Adaptational Angst Downgrade: In canon, Eda is forced the curse that turns her into the Owl Beast at a young age, making her an outcast. Here, she turns into a red heron willingly by drinking potions.
  • Adaptational Heroism: While Eda openly rebelled against the Coven system in canon, it didn't go far beyond petty crime and refusing to join a Coven, mainly looking out for herself. Uodeela is much more proactive, being part of a rebellion against the toads tyranny, and regularly intercepts their 'tax collections' to distribute the money back to the people.
  • Adapted Out:
    • Word of God confirms that Eda's sister Lilith has no direct counterpart in Amphibia, making Uodeela an only child in this universe.
    • Word of God also confirms that Eda's adopted son King has no counterpart in Amphibia.
  • Alternate Self: She's the Amphibian counterpart to Eda Clawthorne.
  • Brought Down to Normal: During the battle of Tadpole Pond, Grime manages to steal Uodeela's staff and destroy her magic gem, making her vulnerable to the toad soldiers' attacks.
  • Curse: Uodeela's combo potion serves as half, turning her into a giant red heron. She can change back at will.
  • Deuteragonist: She becomes this in Arc 2 and keeps it until the end of Arc 3, where it returns to Anne.
  • Parental Substitute: Like Eda, Uodeela has become a mother figure to Luz.
  • Properly Paranoid: Uodeela becomes concerned that since Luz absorbed power from a Calamity gem, then her friends might've too. And because of her fight with Anne, they may unintentionally use their powers against each other should they have another fight.

    Lilly

Lilly

A timid but curious sky-blue frog who befriends Luz during their apprenticeship.

  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: In the show, although Willow is bullied of being of late bloomer throughout her life, she still has a happy family life and makes friends with Gus. Here, apart from being discriminated of being a frog, she also has to watch her mother get killed.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Downplayed. Willow is a kind and shy girl in the original show. While Lillly shows this side in the story, she's also angrier to others due to her Adaptational Angst Upgrade.
  • Adaptation Personality Change: In the show, Willow is a Shrinking Violet who represses her negative emotions. Here, she's shown to be angrier and edgier.
  • Alternate Self: To Willow Park.
  • Armor-Piercing Response: Lilly has a tendency to give a short one to those she despises:
    • She calls out harshly on Amara's attitude when Luz's in danger in "Tomato Terror".
    • After Yunan casually says that Lilly's pretty good for a frog, as frogs are usually peasants, Lilly sarcastically said that she can't be as good as Yunan because she's a frog.
    • After Sasha stopped Grime from talking to prevent further tension, Lilly straight up tells her that Luz and Anne wouldn't mind her striking her down for defending Grime, as Sasha betrayed Luz and Anne said that she hated Sasha. Sasha is noticeably taken aback from this statement.
  • Berserk Button: Lilly doesn't take Amara calling her species plebeian lying down. She also doesn't like it when toads and newts say something relatively low about the frogs. She does get better though.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Lilly shows up with Gustav to help pull Luz back from the tomato plant trying to eat her. They hold out long enough for Uodeela to arrive to kill it.
  • Blue Is Heroic: She has light sky blue skin with dark blue hair and isn't afraid to take on the toad soldiers.
  • Break Them by Talking: Lilly gives an Armor-Piercing Response that Anne hated her now, and that she and Luz wouldn't mind her striking her down for defending Grime. Sasha is basically speechless after hearing that.
  • Brutal Honesty: Lilly tells Sasha that Anne said that she hated her, and that she and Luz wouldn't mind if Lilly strikes her down. Sasha is hurt real bad by this, as this basically implies she deserves death for betraying her friends and joining Grime.
  • Byronic Hero: This version of the character is more angrier and edgier due to her mother being executed in the past.
  • Character Development: Having a talk with Bella helps Lilly realize that not only frogs are being oppressed, but also toads and newts, and that the system enforced by Andrias and other elite newts is at fault. Having stepped out of her mindset allows Lilly to reunite the Resistance.
  • Child Soldiers: She's part of her father's frog rebellion against the toads.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: She witnessed her mother being fed to a Venus Flytrap.
  • Disney Death: Gets killed by Fens during The Battle of Tadpole Pond, she was thankfully revived by Amara, using the Elixir of Life.
  • Heel Realization: Upon realizing the hard life of Bella, she apologized to her for assuming her as an elite newt. She also apologized to Sasha for being cruel to her when she hasn't wronged her personally.
  • Heroes Prefer Swords: Lilly becomes Glen's successor after acquiring his sword, the Masamune.
  • Making a Splash: Lilly gains the ability to make water spouts and create tidal waves from wielding the Masamune which gives her magical abilities. She seems to specialize in this.
  • Misplaced Retribution: Being discriminated as a frog leads her to believe all toads are bullies and all newts are elite bastards. She gets out of this belief after her talk with Bella.
  • Missing Mom: Three years prior to The Battle of Tadpole Pond, her mother Lupe was fed to a Venus Flytrap for "treasonous slander".
  • Soapbox Sadie: If you ever talk something bad or insensitive about frogs, or defend Grime or other toad soliders for any reason, she definitely scolds you about your low opinions about frogs and your defense of toads. She gets better later on though.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Lily's Armor-Piercing Response doubles as one, calling out Amara for her attitude in "Tomato Terror".
  • Tragic Bigot: She's implied to have low opinions of newts and toads as the two species have oppressed her and other frogs. She gets out of this mindset after having a chat with Bella and works with Grime.
  • Troubled Teen: Due to her Dark and Troubled Past, Lilly on more than one occasion calls out other harshly for treating her bad in the slightest way because she's a frog. She's also declared that she has no problem killing toads and striking a teenage Sasha down.

    Gustav

Gustav "Gus"

A young, green toad boy who came to study under Uodeela due to being looked down upon by the soldiers of Toad Tower. He's later revealed to be Percy's son.

  • Adaptation Personality Change: In the show, Gus is an enthusiastic and talented young witch who has trouble being used by others. His defining characteristics is his curiosity to human life. Here, he's become a tragic Boomerang Bigot after learning the toads did many harm to the frogs.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Sasha takes to calling him Gus after she meets him.
  • Alternate Self: Amphibia's version of Gus Porter.
  • Becoming the Mask: Downplayed, while he still working against the Toad Army, Gustav (along with Percy and Braddock) likes Sasha better when she isn't burning villages to the ground.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Gustav shows up with Lilly to help pull Luz back from the tomato plant trying to eat her. They hold out long enough for Uodeela to arrive to kill it.
  • Boomerang Bigot: He's a toad who starts hating the toads after learning the great harm they cause to the frogs.
  • Commonality Connection: Gustav and Amara are revealed to have bonded over a series of music sessions. The two practice with their respective instruments, an ocarina and harp.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Gustav gets to share the spotlight with Sasha in the one-shot "Toadcatcher" and the chapter "Barrel's Warhammer".
  • Making a Splash: Gustav learns the glyph for water magic, so he can shoot water blasts at his enemies.
  • The Mole: After the battle of Tadpole Pond, he along with Percy and Braddock decide to spy on Grime and Sasha. Come ''Barrel's Warhammer", they get kicked out of the Toad Army, partly due to Grime's suspicions towards the young toad.

    Amara Light

Amara Light

A pink newt from Newtopia who was raised to believe newts were above the other species. However, befriending Luz and being taught otherwise by Uodeela helped her realize that was not the case.

  • The Ace: Due to her studying before her apprenticeship, Amara successfully makes the Elixir of Light on the first try.
  • Adapted Out: Amity's older siblings Edric and Emira have no direct counterpart in Amphibia, making Amara an only child in this universe.
  • Alternate Self: She's Amity Blight's, and has a similar name to boot.
  • An Arm and a Leg: In protecting the Plantars from Frakes, Amara loses one of her arms along with her tail.
  • Awesomeness by Analysis: Amara is able to deduce what exactly put Luz to sleep based on the powder around her mouth. Justified, since she was able to study the creatures of the wilds before leaving for her apprenticeship. She's also able to help Anne through her emotions twice when she regrets saying terrible things to her childhood friends Sasha and Marcy.
  • Brainy Brunette: She has long brown hair and did a lot of studying growing up.
  • Coming-Out Story: Amara comes out as a lesbian to Luz, but admits she's known this about herself for some time.

  • A Day in the Limelight: Amara receives focus as her past and the roots of her initial specist mindset are deconstructed in the one-shot "Amara's Upbringing".
  • Dream Walker: Amara somehow finds herself being able to do this and comes into contact with Raine through her dreams.
  • Friendless Background: Amara didn't have any friends and any kids she knew were.
  • Genre Savvy: Unlike the Plantars who spent the last month on Earth binge-watching "Primthistle Manor", Amara has been researching Earth culture and has become quite knowledgeable in several things such as pensions. She also informs the Planters of how the newts kept their tax money for themselves without using it to improve the frogs' towns.
  • Good Is Not Soft: Amara was a Jerkass at her worst, and becomes significantly nicer after her Character Development. Nevertheless, during "The Battle of Tadpole Pond!" she shows zero hesitation blinding Fens and leading Uodeela in her heron form to her, especially after the toad nearly killed Lilly.
  • Hidden Depths: Amara has a deep appreciation of art. She also has some fighting capabilities a she's a practitioner of Newt-jitzu, a newt-based Martial Art used by the Newtopian royal army that a friend taught her at her parents' request.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Amara says Polly isn't smart enough to fix Frobo: she meant she didn't know enough about robotics to warrant activating him before the girls were properly prepared to turn him on. This drives Polly to work harder while pushing Luz and Amara away.
  • Insufferable Genius: Downplayed. While Amara isn't outright rude, her gushing knowledge about Earth annoys the Planatar more than once. Anne even has to stop her from keep talking more about Christmas's history.
  • Pink Is Feminine: Her skin tone is pink and she exhibits traditional feminine traits.
  • Warrior Therapist: She has read and learned more about emotions and mental health during her stay in Newtophia, which allows her to help Anne with her emotions on two occasions and understand Sasha's Freudian Excuse that leads to her controlling behaviors.

The frog family from Wartwood who take Anne in during her time in Amphibia. Composed of adventure-seeking kids Sprig & Polly and their protective grandfather Hopediah "Hop Pop", they try to help Anne and her friends return home.

  • A Day in the Limelight: Sprig and Polly have some focus in the chapter "Frobo and the Toads".
  • Dramatically Missing the Point: Sprig sneaks away to help the Lyft driver with a catering delivery for Thai Go and repeatedly doesn't understand why leaving the restaurant without telling anybody and stowing away in somebody's car was such a big deal.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Sprig brings up the possibility that Sasha, Marcy and Luz encountered one of Amphibia's dangerous creatures and may be dead, worrying Anne. Polly glares at him for bringing it up.
  • It's All My Fault: The Plantars push Amara into having Dr. Frakes use her portal to reach Amphibia despite Amara's protests. When it leads to their capture on top of Amara losing her tail and right arm, they take resposibility for her injuries.
  • The Matchmaker: Sprig and Polly attempt to be this for Luz and Anne. In Sprig's case, it's to repay Anne for when she was this for him and Ivy.
  • Secret-Keeper: Hop Pop keeps the girls in the dark about burying the Calamity Box, but is feeling guilty about it.
  • Shipper on Deck:
    • Sprig reveals his full support to Luz and Anne dating, even suggests having a double date with them and Ivy.
    • Polly also offers to help Luz get together with Anne for her own reasons.

Swampshire

    Lupe

Lupe

Lilly's mother.
  • Posthumous Character: Been dead three years prior to Luz and her friends' arrival in Amphibia.
  • Walking Spoiler: The fact that she died and how much of an impact it had on Emmanuel and Lilly is hard to talk about without spoilers.

The Rebellion

    Emmanuel

Emmanuel

Lilly's father and leader of the Rebellion.

  • Canon Foreigner: Subverted. In the show, Willow has two dads, Gilbert and Harvey, but here her counterpart Lilly has a dad and a mom who has died years ago. It's still unknown whether Emmanuel is based on Gilbert or Harvey or is an original character.
  • He Who Fights Monsters: Downplayed. Emmanuel's role as leader of the Rebellion makes sure that he's heroic, but he's still willing to do questionable things such as spreading Hop Pop's election to others which almost got him killed and willing to put Sasha, a child, down when necessary.
  • Moral Myopia: He's willing to kill Grime, Sasha's substitute father, in front of her, despite the fact that he witnesses his wife executed in front of him years before.
  • Revenge Before Reason: Emmanuel remembers his promise to Valeriana that he will work with Grime after the Toad Rebellion is defeated, but he still decides to kill him as revenge for killing his wife.
  • Saying Too Much: Lilly's father pushes it a bit close to the vest asking Anne if she's from another world. But when he asks if she knows about other humans possibly being in Amphibia, Anne pins him down and demands answers.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Emmanuel treats Sasha as an equally dangerous treat to Grime, and he's implied to be willing to put her down when necessary. Subverted later on as he didn't realize Sasha is a child by then. When he does, he offers encouragement that it's normal to learn from the consequences of mistakes and regrets made at her age.

    Valeriana

Valeriana

Toad Army

    Grime

Captain Grime

Captain of the south tower.

  • Adaptational Villainy: Downplayed. While the show's already established him as a ruthless toad lord from the start, he's shown more of his antagonistic actions here.
  • Parental Substitute: While it's only implied in the show, Sasha explicitly says Grime is like a father to her, mainly because her real father is neglectful to her.

    Bufo

Captain Bufo

Captain of the east tower.

  • Death by Adaptation: In canon, he makes a cameo in "All In". Here, he gets decapitated by General Yunan during the Toad Rebellion.

    Beatrix

Captain Beatrix

Captain of the west tower, and Grime's older sister.

  • Ascended Extra: She was added to the fic's version of "True Colors".
  • Dirty Coward: As Gustav puts it, for all of Beatrix's talk about wanting to face a strong opponent she escaped when she got it due to the risk of being arrested.

Newtopia

    King Andrias

King Andrias Leviathan

King of Amphibia

  • Adaptational Villainy: Arc 5 shows King Andrias stepping up his own villainous game, sending a Cloak-Bot to the Boiling Isles to kidnap witchlings around the girls' age to examine like the other creatures his ancestors stole from other worlds.
  • Would Hurt a Child: King Andrias has his canon moments of trying to crush Polly, drop Sprig out of the palace and stabbing Marcy; on top of those, he drops Luz with Sprig and has no qualms hurting Lilly while she fights him so the others can escape through the portal to Earth.

    Lady Odalys Light

Lady Odalys Light

Amara's mother.

  • Alternate Self: She's a newt version of Odalia Blight.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Odalys has both her arms cut off when Alyssa uses a barrier spell that summons two which take up the same space as Olivia's arms.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Alister and Odalys are shown working for Andrias and experimenting on the captured witches from the Boiling Isles in the chapter "Two Worlds, Two Families".
  • A Day in the Limelight: Alister and Odalys are shown working for Andrias and experimenting on the captured witches from the Boiling Isles in the chapter "Two Worlds, Two Families".
  • Dirty Coward: Odalys and Alister hid away in a panic room while the toads ransacked the city along with their home. Their butler is also one after running away during the chaos.
  • Hate Sink: A classist, racist bitch who looks down on anyone who isn't a newt from an elite family and shows little concern for her daughter's safety or happiness, barely reacting when she hears a heron attacked her. What's more, she helped set up Newtopia University's equivalent of student loans, which she explicitly states was made to prevent the middle and lower class students from being able to move up in the world.
  • Hoist by Her Own Petard: Odalys though she had all the cards with the shock collar remote and could just use that to subdue Raine, Vincent, and Odalys, only for Lilly to destroy the remote. Then when she threatens to kill Alyssa to force the others to surrender under the assumption she ran out of bile, Alyssa activates a spell circle that results in two barriers cutting off Odalys' arms.
  • Kick the Dog: Even after Vincent begged her to stop her torment to Amity, Odalys continued doing it with a twisted smile.
  • Psychotic Smirk: Odalys bears one every time she tortures the witches. It's most highlighted while she's shocking Amity after Vincent tells her to do it.
  • Sanity Slippage: Odalys starts losing her mind after being one-upped by Alyssa, ordering the Frobots to gun down the adult witches and Lilly.
  • Saying Too Much: Odalys begins to mention that Andrias and his army could have a better chance of taking down Emperor Belos if they could get some information out of Amity, forcing Andrias to change the subject so Olivia and Yunan don't learn about her.
  • Skewed Priorities: When Amara tells her that she lost her tail after being attacked by a heron (one of the most dangerous predators in Amphibia), the newt is more appalled that her daughter walked around tailless in public than the fact that she was almost killed.
  • Smug Snake: Just like Odalia, Odalys will do anything if it means she'll reign supreme. She works with Andrias so her mind can be uploaded into the Core, repeatedly says all species are inferior to newts, and takes any advantage over those who disagree with her claims to come out of a fight triumphant.

    Lord Alister Light

Lord Alister Light

Amara's father.

  • Adaptational Villainy: In the show, Alador is shown to be goofy and hyperfocused on his experiements, leading him to ignore his daughter Amity. He's willing to do better and stands up to Odalia once she revealed to be aiding Belos' genocide plan. Here, he's a willing accomplice of Odalys in aiding Andrias’ invasion of Earth.
  • Alternate Self: He's the newt counterpart of Alador Blight, but more cunning.
  • Dirty Coward: Odalys and Alister hid away in a panic room while the toads ransacked the city along with their home. Their butler is also one after running away during the chaos.
  • Hate Sink: Unlike Alador, Alister is equally despicable as his wife Odalys. They torture the adult witches by injecting syringes into their bile sacs and draining them dry so they can't use their magic, threaten to torture Amity should they step out of line, and laugh at the witchling after forcing her to eat bugs, the only rations they supply.
  • Pet the Dog: Because he sees Amity's similarities to Amara, Alister shows concern when Odalys tortures her and forces his wife to stop.
  • Smug Snake: Alister condescendingly flaunts his knowledge and tactical mind during his meeting with Uodeela to the point that he casually tells her he knows where she lives due to his sources.
  • The Strategist: Alister figures out all three outcomes for how Uodeela's uprising against the toads will work out and how all of them will fail.

Past Characters

    Sheresade

Sheresade

Uodeela's late grandmother, and one of King Andrias' companions who stole the Calamity Box 1,000 years ago.

  • Fantastic Racism: Following the rewrites, Sheresade has a deep grudge against humans due to Philip Wittebane betraying and nearly murdering her. It's subverted after she meets kinder humans while hiding the Calamity Box on Earth long before his time.

The Boiling Isles (Spoilers)

    Raine Whispers

Raine Whispers

A bard Amara meets while dream walking. They were kidnapped by a Cloak-Bot sent by Andrias along with a few other witches so he could examine how they use magic.

  • Parental Substitute: They're implied to be becoming one to Sasha as they offer her words of comfort and she felt her mother's warmth in them.

    Emperor Belos

Emperor Belos

Ruler of the Boiling Isles, and the mysterious voice that Sasha's been hearing.

  • Glory Hound: Belos, of course. The bastard is perfectly fine with Andrias' invasion as he believes he can just return to Earth, defeat the mad king, and win humanity's adulation so he can convince them to wipe out witchkind. He clearly doesn't realize or care that the risk of lives lost is far greater from Andrias (not to mention actually possible from him) than the inhabitants of the Boiling Isles.
  • A God Am I: On one instance, he declares himself as a better god than the Guardian as he prefers gods that strike down sinners (which he thinks he's doing) rather than just watching events unfold.
  • Hate Sink: The story emphasizes more on his detestable nature than in the show he originated from, evaluating him into this status. He persuades Sasha, a 13-year-old child, into ruining her friendship with Anne and Luz and uses her personal feelings to push her into committing evil acts, all for a plan of sending Luz to the Boiling Isles to indirectly help him commit genocide over witches through a Stable Time Loop. When Sasha began shutting him out, he takes possession of her, intending to slaughter Grime and the rest of her comrades just because Maddie and Gustav are magic users, which only ends when Sasha temporarily kills herself.
  • Hypocrite:
    • For all his talk about protecting humanity, Belos chooses to just ignore the threat Andrias' invasion poses to Earth, putting his agenda of killing off witchkind first.
    • Belos haunts Sasha of being rejected by her loved ones, yet his entire plan is because he's jealous of his brother falling in love with a witch.
  • Lack of Empathy: Belos doesn't care about ruining Sasha's personal relationships with others nor have any feelings when she kills herself to get rid of his possession. He also doesn't care about the people potentially killed or suffered from Andrias' invasion, even though he plans the witches' genocide for saving humanity. His apathy is exaggerated to the point that the Collector has adopted his mindset.
  • Misplaced Retribution: Exaggerated. While Belos has already planned on his Final Solution on witches as his brother falls in love with one, he wants to kill witches in Amphibia as well solely because they're magic users.
  • Relationship Sabotage: By pushing Sasha further into villainy, he effectively ruins Sasha's friendship with Luz and Anne.
  • Shipper with an Agenda: Played for Horror. Belos wanted Sasha to join him as a soldier in order to set up her and Hunter, believing that Caleb's betrayal (and that of every other grimwalker) stems from his brother "being bewitched into falling in love with a witch".
  • Villain Has a Point: In the first dream, Sasha accuses Belos of making her taint her friendship with Anne, Marcy, and Luz, he then points out that all he did was make the suggestions. She later admits that he was right, and that her actions were hers.

    Amity Blight

Amity Blight

A young witchling who was kidnapped by a Cloak-Bot to be examined by Andrias. She is the only child among the prisoners.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Amity gets this right off her debut: she's kidnapped and imprisoned by the Amphibian counterparts of her parents and treated like a science experiment, is given electric shocks as punishment should she or the other captured witches not comply with demands, and she has to repeatedly endure the other witches being tortured as Odalys and Alister drain them of their magic bile by injecting needles into their chests. Worse, she ends up getting possessed by the Core alongside Marcy.
  • Commonality Connection: She starts to bond with Marcy upon learning they both like the Good Witch Azura.
  • Demonic Possession: The Core possesses Amity at the exact same time as Marcy so it can have two host bodies, one with access to magic.
  • Instant Expert: Like Marcy, Amity quickly masters the entire ruleset of flipwart after being forced to memorize the rules in a few days. As such, she defeats Alister in their match.
  • Irony: She's tortured by the Amphibian counterparts of her Abusive Parents and befriends Willow's counterpart Lilly.
  • Ship Tease: After Amity starts bonding with Marcy, she shows signs of developing a crush on her.

    Alyssa and Vincent Farmer

Alyssa and Vincent Farmer

A witch couple and parents who ally with Raine in order to escape Andrias' imprisonment and save Amity.
