* AdaptationalBackstoryChange: In the show, Luz lives in Connecticut and is regarded as a weirdo due to her tactics. Here, Luz lives in California and has been expelled from her school due to her tactics, leading her to be transferred to St. James and kickstarts the whole story.
* AdaptationPersonalityChange: The canon Luz is a AllLovingHeroine who treats nearly anyone without any malice except to the BigBad Belos. This version is a ByronicHero who has deep hatred towards bad guys who wronged her, especially her former friend Sasha.

* CheatersNeverProsper: PlayedForDrama. Luz attempts to use her Calamity powers in an attempt to beat the flipwart challenge, but the second her eyes change color, she gets electrocuted and sees the opponent's flipwart king wagging its finger and realizes it won't allow her.

** Marcy immediately bonds with Luz and [[spoiler:Amity]] upon discovering they're both fans of the ''Good Witch Azura''. She even collaborating on a fanfic together with Luz, with whom also have a strong love of magic and later discover they also enjoyed Cynthia Coven. Luz also knows the feeling of being alone all too well, and that's why she ends up sympathizing with Marcy after she admits she HatesBeingAlone and didn't want to lose her friends because she was moving.

** To Marcy. Both are teenagers that have a particular interest in fantasy and close friends of Anne who HatesBeingAlone. Marcy serves as Anne's ChildhoodFriend while Luz just met Anne for a few months. Luz is more sensitive to others' feelings and situations while Marcy tends to ignore them due to being InnocentlyInsensitive. Their family lives also contrast. Luz is living with her caring single mother while Marcy is shown to have controlling and strict parents. Luz isn't willing to separate with her mother while Marcy has spent months running away from her parents with no intention to return.
** To Belos. Both have strong influence on Sasha. They both appear to be caring for her. The difference is Luz is genuinely trying to bring out the best of Sasha while Belos is just trying to use her personal feelings for his own gain. In the end, Belos has done more harm to Sasha’s relationships than Luz.
* HeelRealization: {{Implied}}. Luz realizing Sasha's neglectful home life and her mother's missing her bad inspires her to make up with Sahsa for real.
* HomeschooledKids: While Anne and Luz are able to go back to school, they choose to continue their education with online studies since they don't want to fan any rumor flames about their relationship.

* OutOfFocus: Even though she's the main character, not even Luz has appeared in every chapter. She's absent in "What's Anne Been Up To?", "Sasha's Story", "Newtopian News", "Barrel's Warhammer", and "Toadcatcher" all of which focus on Anne, Sasha, Amara, and Sasha & Gustav respectively. Until "The Lyft Ride", she hadn't appeared in any of the one-shots, which are either {{Distant Prologue}}s, occur on earth, or take place at a time where she's not present at the moment.

* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: Luz opts to skip the dinner party since she doesn't want to be anywhere near Sasha and goes to try and get her powers working. Sprig attempts to join her, but it's subverted since Hop Pop forces him to stay.

* AdaptationalJerkass: {{Downplayed}}. Anne in this story has some rather more unpleasant moments such as declaring her end of friendship with Luz and wanting her childhood friends dead after learning their misdeeds. That said, it usually happens under others' influence or stress.
* AdaptationalSexuality: While her orientation is left vague in the canon show, in this AU, Anne is shown to be either lesbian or bisexual. This is shown as she admits to enjoying Luz's kiss, despite initially being shocked when it happened. She's later implied to return the latter's feelings upon reuniting.

** In "Coming Home", Anne is left in shock after saying Marcy deserves her fate for tricking them into being trapped in Amphibia.

* PartingWordsRegret: The last thing she said to Luz before getting zapped to Amphibia was that she's ending their friendship. And by the end of Arc 2, she regrets it, and intends to reconcile with Luz.

* AdaptationalBackstoryChange: In "Literature/MarcysJournalAGuidetoAmphibia", Sasha's parents are revealed to be divorced or separated when she was young. Here, her parents are together until she got transported to Amphibia. Her family life is also appeared to be dysfunctional, as her father is always busy on his business and absent in her life while her mother teaches her to use manipulative skills and female charms to "control" boys.
* AdaptationExpansion: It's never implied how Sasha's manipulative skills come from in the show. Here, it's revealed that she learns from her mother, who uses FemmeFatale charm to get advantages from men.

* AllForNothing: All her plans to keep [[spoiler:Luz away from her crush, Anne]] is ruined when the latter has enough of her controlling behavior.

* ADayInTheLimelight: Sasha, is the first of the original Amphibia Calamity trio to get one in chapter 2 "Fun with Sasha" and gets to shine for the day in "Sasha's Story". She also gets to share the spotlight with Gustav in the one-shot "Toadcatcher" and the chapter "Barrel's Warhammer".

Both are [[LoveMakesYouEvil willing to do anything]] to [[LoveHungry keep their best friends]] who act as their LivingEmotionalCrutch, but ultimately has enough of their awful behaviors. Their start of redemption also [[DoNotTauntCthulhu piss off]] the male BigBad, [[DemonicPossession being possessed by them,]] and end up receiving something from them (Catra a TraumaticHaircut, Sasha [[AScarToRemember a possession scar]])
* FilleFatale: She uses her feminine charms to manipulate boys, something she learns from her mom.
* FreudianExcuse: While it's only {{implied}} in the show, Sasha here has shown to be living in a quite neglectful and unhealthy environment. Her father is always out of work and her mother teaches her how to manipulate boys at a young age. The home life is so bad that she cares more about her friends and Grime, and is willing to sabotage Luz and Anne's relationship when they become closer in fear of losing Anne to Luz.
* FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse: Sasha tells Luz that she needs to help Grime to finish the invasion, who acts more like a father than her real, neglectful one. While Luz is sympathetic with Sasha about her home problems, she tells her that doesn't give her the right to hurt others.

** To Luz. Both are Anne's close friends that have crushes on her. Luz tries to make up for her mistakes to Anne while Sasha doubles down on her action. It's no wonder Anne chooses Luz in the end.
** To Amara. Both are LonelyRichKid that live in a rich but neglectful environment and are friends with Anne at some point. Amara lives with her classist parents while Sasha has a DisappearedDad. While Amara is able to see the errors of her ways stemmed from her family life, Sasha cannot. She is also able to overcome her mental problems with the help of her new friends while Sasha couldn't due to the worsening influence of TheVoice Belos.
* GoAndSinNoMore: To prove herself that she has changed, she has to offer help to Emmanuel, the leader of the Rebellion.

* HumbleGoal: [[spoiler:Despite doing bad things to Luz and her friends, all she wants is to have her crush Anne to date her, who she loves for quite some time.]]

* InferioritySuperiorityComplex: [[spoiler: It's shown despite acting hostile to others (mainly Luz), all she wants to gain approval and attention from her loved ones.]]

Needless to say, the poor young girl shouldn't be going through that much at her age as she now ends up nearly broken.

* SecretlySelfish: Played with and played straight. Sasha convinces Anne that Luz was only friends with them just to come on to Anne in order to convince Anne to cut ties with her. And at the same time, Sasha gave off a few hints that she wanted Anne to date her.

She then scolded Marcy for thinking that she was serious about going to another world when she's not thinking straight, leaving her mom alone in the process.

* SoapboxSadie: If you ever talk something bad or insensitive about frogs, or defend Grime or other toads for any reason, she definitely scolds you about your low opinions about frogs and your defense of toads. [[spoiler: She gets better later on though.]]
