    Kohina Ichimatsu
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/240503_1161.jpg

An elementary school student and a self-proclaimed "doll", Kohina is the protagonist of the series. Not much is known about her except that for some reason she lives alone in a fairly large house, is very emotionally detached and is addicted to ramen noodles.

Voiced by: Ryō Hirohashi

  • Art Shift: Is portrayed in a much less stylized manner whenever she has major Not So Stoic moments.
  • The Beastmaster: Well, she does have quite a few animal yokai at her beck and call.
  • Berserk Button: Don't try to take her noodles away from her. Kokkuri found out the hard way.
  • Beware the Quiet Ones: Even if she claims to be an emotionless doll, you shouldn't mess with her or her noodles. Kohina can be scary when provoked.
  • Can't Live with Them, Can't Live Without Them: In the first episode, she's annoyed about Kokkuri suddenly moving in with her and getting in the way of her and her beloved cup noodles. After she seemingly gets rid of him, Kohina begins to feel lonely and misses Kokkuri to the point of crying.
  • The Comically Serious: Her completely emotionless behaviour can be pretty hilarious.
  • Comically Small Bribe: It is rather easy for somebody to bribe Kohina. A cup of instant noodles is all it took for her to allow Inugami to stay in the house.
  • Cuteness Proximity: She has a soft spot for cute animals, especially cats.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: There are occasional hints that whatever happened in Kohina's life that caused her to live alone in a fairly large house, call herself a doll, and become so invested in curses and divination, it WAS NOT pretty.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: She starts out as an Emotionless Girl who doesn't mind living alone and doesn't want anything to do with Kokkuri, but after Kokkuri starts living with her she begins to enjoy his company and is slowly opening up to him.
  • Devoted to You: Both Kokkuri and Inugami would do anything for her. Inugami tends to take it to creepy extents, though...
  • Did You Just Scam Cthulhu?: She's quite capable of tricking ancient spirits and minor deities into giving her what she wants.
  • Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette: She has black hair and pale skin, combined with her emotionless personality she really looks like a creepy doll.
  • Emotionless Girl: Pretty much her defining character trait, to the point she doesn't consider herself a real human being.
  • Even the Girls Want Her: She has two stalkers; the Sex Shifter Inugami and the Cat Girl Tama.
  • Happily Adopted: Kokkuri appointed himself as Kohina's adoptive father. Kohina isn't fond of him at first, but eventually warms up to him and they mostly act as a true family.
  • Heroic BSoD: Speaking of bribes, when she found the cash that Shigaraki used to bribe her was a transfigured leaf she didn't take it too well.
  • Loners Are Freaks: This pretty much sums up how the rest of society views her. Kokkuri is of this opinion also and is actively trying to make her a more social person to avoid this trope.
  • Meaningful Name: Kohina calls herself a doll. Her surname, Ichimatsu, refers to one of the most famous Japanese dolls.
  • Minor Living Alone: She was living alone by herself in a mansion until Kokkuri showed up. There's no mention of what happened to her parents, only that she hasn't eaten with anyone in a long time.
  • Mysterious Past: The circumstances which causes her to live all by herself is unknown. At one point, she tells Kokkuri that her family had been murdered, only to declare right afterwards that she just made that story up. We are never told what actually happened to her parents or why they aren't around. When Kohina tries to imagine herself as being a part of a family, she sees her three housemates instead.
  • Not Allowed to Grow Up: She occasionally lampshades how she never gets older despite numerous season changes and holidays. This is a plot point in the finale.
  • Rei Ayanami Expy: A young girl with short hair and pale skin who calls herself an emotionless doll, but later develops a Sugar-and-Ice Personality.
  • Reincarnation: She's the reincarnation of a young ill girl who saved Kokkuri hundreds of years ago.
  • The Stoic: The expression on her face seldom changes and she claims to lack emotions. But she has her weak spots - namely Kokkuri and cup noodles.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: She insists she's a doll without any emotions, but it soon becomes obvious that's not true as she grows to care about Kokkuri and enjoy his company.
  • Super-Deformed: She's usually drawn in chibi mode, though once-in-a-while she is portrayed in a more traditional anime style.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Delivered one to Kokkuri, although Played for Laughs.
Kohina: You're neither spirit-like nor fox-like. Your only identifying characteristic is how you like doing housework even though you're a man. It's not even that unusual in the 3d world these days. When you become just another woman who likes housework, that distinction fades, and your already weak personality grows even weaker. You need to find another quality to promote.
Kokkuri: I wasn't asking for an editor's opinion...
  • Third-Person Person: Tends to refer to herself by her family name.
  • Touched by Vorlons: Kohina eventually gains the ability to see ghosts and minor spirits as a result of living close to powerful spirits like Kokkuri, Inugami, and Shigaraki. This is not a good thing, as most of these spirits are hateful and hungry.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: She loves her instant noodles and her love of ramen is often used by the other characters to bribe her.
  • The Unsmile: Whenever Kohina tries to force herself to smile, her face distorts and sometimes her eyes and mouth fall off.
  • Verbal Tic: "Na no desu".
  • Weirdness Magnet: She could reclassify her house as a youkai zoo.
  • When She Smiles: Given her rather detached nature when she does crack a genuine smile it is a major event.

    Kokkuri
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/240509_8190.jpg

The deuteragonist of the series, Kokkuri is a kitsune who is centuries old. He was summoned into the house by Kohina when she played a divination game by herself. Horrified by her terrible eating habits, her lack of friends and lack of adult supervision; he decides to stay and watch over her.

Voiced by: Daisuke Ono, Ryōko Shiraishi (female form)

  • Age Insecurity: He claims to be 25 years old, but when Kohina brings out a Lie Detector, he angrily refuses to tell her his real age.
  • Androcles' Lion: Many hundreds of years ago, Kokkuri was saved by Kohina's past incarnation after he was shot by a hunter. To repay her, Kokkuri decided to devote himself to taking care of her and try to make her smile. Thinking that he still haven't repaid his debt enough when she died, Kokkuri swore to keep taking care of her in her next incarnations.
  • Asian Fox Spirit: He's a centuries-old fox spirit. More specifically, he's who the fortune-telling game "Kokkuri" is named after, as it's often believed that the being summoned by the game is a fox spirit.
  • Attractive Bent-Gender: No one would blame Shigaraki for hitting on female!Kokkuri.
  • Berserk Button: He easily snaps when someone mentions his non-existent hair loss problems or calls him an old man.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Kokkuri is a nice and caring guy, but he has little patience to his housemates' antics.
  • Chick Magnet: All of Kohina's female classmates fall head-over-heels for him when he shows up at school disguised as a student.
  • Deuteragonist: The second most important character after Kohina.
  • Distracted by My Own Sexy: He's charmed by his own reflection when he turns into a woman.
  • Don't You Dare Pity Me!: Kokkuri hates letting someone else do something for him when he thinks he's capable of doing it himself, even if he's not.
  • Eyes Always Shut: His fox form has the trademark Kitsune shut eyes. He only opens his eyes in human form.
  • Frying Pan of Doom: When he gets into a fight he usually uses this as his preferred weapon.
  • Good Parents: He may have his missteps, but he honestly does try his hardest to be a good father-figure to Kohina. She just happens to be wily enough to wiggle out of his attempts at parenting of her own accord.
  • House Husband: He isn't married, but effectively acts as Kohina's adoptive single dad. He takes on the household chores, manages the budget, and does his best to make sure that his "daughter" can live a healthy and happy life.
  • I Have Many Names: His name changes to match the times or people's perception of him.
  • I Will Find You: He promised to take care of Kohina in a past life. Judging by the initial setting, he was looking for a long time.
  • Inconvenient Summons: Kohina one time summoned him when he was in the bath. She then called the police when he approached her wearing only a Modesty Towel.
  • Insistent Terminology: He is Kohina's guardian, not a stalker.
  • In Touch with His Feminine Side: He's very good at cooking and other domestic duties. He also uses lotions, ointments and several skin care products.
  • Interspecies Adoption: He's a fox spirit and is raising an orphaned human child.
  • I Owe You My Life: Kohina saved him in a past life and when she died, Kokkuri swore to keep looking after her in her next lifetimes to repay his debt.
  • Know-Nothing Know-It-All: According to legend he is supposed to be a fountain of knowledge and wisdom. In reality, Google has him beat by a long shot.
  • Like an Old Married Couple: With Shigaraki. They have known each other for very long time and were even roommates before. Their constant bickering makes them look like a married couple, which is especially emphasized when Kokkuri turns into a woman.
  • Little Bit Beastly: He looks like a young man with fox ears and tail. Lampshaded when Kohina actually thought he was a cosplayer when she first saw him.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: He's very attractive and has long white hair.
  • Master of Illusion: Typical of a kitsune he has the power to create illusions, using leaves as the base materials for the spell. Kohina immediately tries to figure out ways to use said ability to acquire ramen.
  • Mystical White Hair: He's an Asian Fox Spirit whose human form is a beautiful man with long white hair.
  • Narcissist: He's very vain, to the point the other characters flat out call him a narcissist.
  • Nice Guy: He's nice, polite and protective.
  • No-Respect Guy: He takes care of everything in the household and without him, his housemates couldn't live on their own. Still he never receives the respect he deserves.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: He has had so many names he's lost track of which is his real one.
  • Only Sane Man: He is the most level-headed member of the household (not like that is saying much).
  • Papa Wolf: He goes pretty damn far in making sure Kohina is alright. This includes spiriting her away for years to prevent her from dying.
  • Parental Substitute: He tries to act like a father figure to Kohina. He doesn't always succeed.
  • Physical God: Though never referred to as one, he's powerful and famous enough to have a shrine dedicated to him at least.
  • Pink Means Feminine: After he's turned into a woman, he wears pink kimono instead of his usual blue. Also counts as Pink Girl, Blue Boy.
  • Playing with Fire: He can summon fireballs.
  • The Promise: He made a promise to Kohina's past incarnation to find her and take care of her in every of her lifetimes.
  • Really 700 Years Old: If he lent money to Shigaraki in the Meiji Era, he sure as hell ain't 25 years old despite his claims and youthful looks.
  • Reincarnation Friendship: He was friends with Kohina's past life and now is keeping his promise to take care of her after she reincarnated.
  • Ridiculously Cute Critter: His fox form is incredibly adorable.
  • Sex Shifter: When Kohina asks him if he can turn into a woman like Inugami, Kokkuri says he can, but doesn't like to do it.
  • Shapeshifter Mode Lock: He gets trapped in female form after opening a cursed box. He only turns back to normal when Shigaraki kisses him, to both's disgust.
  • So Beautiful, It's a Curse: Kokkuri doesn't like to turn into a woman because men won't stop hitting on his female form.
  • Stalker without a Crush: He had watched Kohina from a distance since she was little, because she'd been the only person who ever came to his shrine. He calls it being a guardian. She calls it stalking.
  • Supernatural Gold Eyes: His human form has gold eyes as a sign that he's actually an Asian Fox Spirit.
  • Team Mom: He plays the role of the mother in the unusual Family of Choice he has formed with Kohina and their two housemates/pests. Lampshaded when Kohina shows her appreciation by giving him a carnation during Mother's Day.
  • Tsundere: When he's stuck in female form, Kokkuri keeps insulting and beating up Shigaraki as usual, but Female!Kokkuri can't help to blush when Shigaraki shows his gentlemanly side.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Shigaraki's laziness and messiness annoy Kokkuri to no end, but Kokkuri still can tolerate Shigaraki more than Inugami as long as the former isn't a bad influence to Kohina.
  • Walking Techbane: Kokkuri manages to completely fry a laptop by attempting to check the next day's weather using Google.

    Inugami
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/240507_7235.jpg

In his past life, Inugami was an abandoned dog that Kohina had once shown kindness to. Now though, he is a Sex Shifter Yandere Eldritch Abomination with a single-minded focus on Kohina.

Voiced by: Takahiro Sakurai, Chiwa Saitō (female form)

  • Ambiguous Gender Identity: Inugami often presents himself as male, but mentions he actually doesn't remember his original gender and can freely switch between male and female forms.
  • Attractive Bent-Gender: Shigaraki only likes him when he is a girl because he looks hot in that form.
  • Badass in a Nice Suit: His Limited Wardrobe consists uniquely of suits and he knows how to use a gun.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Kohina was the only one who took notice of him and held him when he was an abandoned puppy, and thus he has become Kohina-sexual as a result.
  • The Chew Toy: He gets beat up and hurt more than any other character and is universally the least liked member of the household.
  • Comedic Lolicon: He's disgustingly open about his sexual attraction to the elementary schooler Kohina. Since Kokkuri is there to protect Kohina, Inugami never gets to do anything gross to her and is mainly a target of slapstick, usually as retribution for his lolicon antics.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: He won't let anyone get too close to his dear Kohina.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: He effortlessly kills a youkai attacking Kohina, all without her even noticing.
  • A Dog Named "Dog": An inugami named Inugami.
  • Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette: He has black hair and pale skin and he's a creepy and dangerous Yandere stalker.
  • Formal Characters Use Keigo: He speaks in a formal tone, which suits his butler nature.
  • Freudian Excuse: He blames his extreme misanthropy on the neglect he received as a living puppy and the brutality of the ritual that turned him into a spirit.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Nobody in the house likes him since they treat him as an annoyance. The only one who occasionally enjoys his company is Shigaraki, just because he thinks Inugami's female form is hot. When he runs away to get some attention, nobody bothers to go look for him, even though he was right at the garden.
  • Guns Akimbo: When he fights, his preferred weapons of choice is a pair of semi-automatic pistols.
  • The Gunslinger: He's the only character in the show to use firearms and promotional artwork often shows him with a gun in hand.
  • Hates Everyone Equally: Not just everyone, everything, with only a couple of exceptions.
  • Humanoid Abomination: You don't want to see his true self.
  • Interspecies Romance: He's an inugami who has the hots for a human girl.
  • Iron Butt-Monkey: Some of his physical abuses include getting blended into Inugami smoothie, getting smacked into the moon, impaled with a knife on a wall, outright murdered by Kokkuri for finding out his secret, getting burned on atmospheric re-entry, and more.
  • Jerkass: He treats everyone other than Kohina as scum. He even admits the only thing he loves besides Kohina is the suffering of others.
  • Little Bit Beastly: When he is in his female form, he has dog-ears and a tail.
  • Lovable Sex Maniac: He really wants to get into Kohina's pants. Fortunately, Kokkuri is around to keep him in line.
  • Love at First Sight: Fell for Kohina during their first meeting when he was an abandoned puppy and she noticed him.
  • Loving Details: He knows everything about Kohina: her likes, dislikes, height, weight, measurements, BMI, bone density, the number and locations of her moles and genetic makeup. Needless to say, Kokkuri finds this disgusting.
  • Mad Love: He's crazy about Kohina, who mostly ignores him or treats him as a minor nuisance.
  • Mysterious Protector: He keeps Kohina safe from violent youkai while stalking her.
  • Power Perversion Potential: He tries using his Sex Shifter transformation ability to take a bath with Kohina, to Kokkuri's dismay.
  • Red Armband of Leadership: He's got one with the word "dog" on it.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: He has these; they're either to highlight his supernatural nature or just to show how unhinged he is. It is up for debate.
  • Ridiculously Cute Critter: Invoked. He based his dog form on trendy mascots in order to appeal to Kohina.
  • The Runaway: In episode 9, he decides to run away to get Kohina worried about him... However, he only hid in the garden and nobody wants to look for him. At the end, he really runs away from the house, but he returns on his own.
  • Sadist: There is only one thing in the world, besides Kohina, that Inugami doesn't hate: the suffering of others. He also gets disturbingly turned on at the idea of Kohina suffering from too much instant noodles.
  • Sex Shifter: He can switch between male and female forms at will since he doesn't remember his original gender.
  • Shadow Archetype: He's really the same as Kokkuri, just far more creepy and dangerous.
  • Sharp-Dressed Man: He may be a Yandere creep, but he has good fashion sense as he only wears suits.
  • Single-Target Sexuality: He is Kohina-sexual. Kokkuri is understandably horrified.
  • Stalker with a Crush: He openly admits he is his beloved Kohina's stalker and Kokkuri finds him dangerous.
  • They Killed Kenny Again: He dies every couple of chapters, but always comes back.
  • Too Kinky to Torture: Inugami enjoys the idea of Kohina abusing and belittling him far more than being affectionate or sweet.
  • Troll: He just loves to mess with Kokkuri and piss him off to amuse himself.
  • Yandere: He's creepily and dangerously possessive towards Kohina. He points a gun at Yamamoto just so he could have the seat next to Kohina.
  • Youkai: An inugami, to be specific.
  • Younger Than He Looks: As much of an adult as he may look, Chapter 4 of the manga reveals he is 5 years old - he died at age 3 (in dog years) and has been a spirit for 2 years.

    Shigaraki
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/240505_8023.jpg

An old Tanuki that has a history with Kokkuri, Shigaraki pretty much invited himself into the house to free-load off of Kokkuri (something he has done before). He loves alcohol, women and gambling and generally causing mischief for humans in general.

Voiced by: Joji Nakata

  • The Alcoholic: He carries a jug of sake around with him all the time and seems to have a perpetual buzz going on.
  • The Atoner: He funds an orphanage for the children of families he's destroyed.
  • Attractive Bent-Gender: Averted, unlike the other guys. It's implied his Incredibly Conspicuous Drag is the best he can do.
  • Breakout Character: He has his own two-volume spin-off manga, Gugure! Shigaraki-san.
  • Chivalrous Pervert: He loves women (even if they're a Sex Shifter such as Inugami), but his actions towards female Kokkuri show that he can be a gentleman towards them too.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: He's quite handy with his staff should the need arise...
  • Dirty Old Man: He will hit on a pretty young woman the second he sees her. Even if that young woman is Inugami. And he's proud of it. It helps that he's aged pretty well.
  • Flanderization: Over the series, his Hidden Heart of Gold is mostly overshadowed by his Lazy Bum nature.
  • Friend to All Children: The kids at the orphanage love him, and he gets along reasonably well with Kohina.
  • Gag Penis: Well, Gag Balls, as per the Tanuki myth. Not shown, but implied when he first showed his real Tanuki form.
  • The Gambling Addict: Let's put it this way; his idea for increasing the fortune of the family he was staying with before moving in with Kohina and Kokkuri was to take all their money and go bet on the horses. Three guesses how that turned out.
  • Handsome Lech: He's a shameless womanizer who flirts even with Inugami's and Kokkuri's female forms.
  • Hidden Heart of Gold: When Kokkuri and the others find out he funds an orphanage, Shigaraki claims he's only doing it to trick the children of families he's destroyed into thinking he's a good person. It's obvious he's lying, though.
  • Incredibly Conspicuous Drag: His poor attempts to disguise himself as Kohina to appeal to Inugami fool no one due to his muscular build and hairy legs, and it just disgusts Inugami more than anything else.
Shigaraki: (still in his Kohina disguise) The dog seemed down, so I tried being nice to him, but he cried and ran away.
Kokkuri: In that situation, I'd run, too.
  • Jackass Genie: Kohina found out the hard way when asking him if he had an animal form that he has a way of perverting requests.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He's lazy, irresponsible, selfish and greedy, but he's a good guy deep down.
  • Ladykiller in Love: He is absolutely smitten with Kokkuri when he becomes trapped in female form. He swears to kick all his vices (except flirting with women) and even get a job to support "her" if Kokkuri agrees to marry him.
  • Lazy Bum: He is a proud NEET and doesn't bother helping out with the house. His signature stance is lying down while drinking his sake.
  • Like an Old Married Couple: With Kokkuri. They have known each other for ages and were roommates at one point. When he proposes to Kokkuri's female form, Shigaraki even lampshades they already act like an old married couple when they're both men anyway.
  • Loophole Abuse: His powers only work if he's using them to deceive humans, so he can get away with benign or helpful things so long as he's lying by doing so.
  • Lovable Sex Maniac: He tries to peep on the girls on the hot springs and reads dirty magazines.
  • Mr. Vice Guy: He is an alcoholic, a con-artist, a gambling addict, a womanizer and a chain-smoker.
  • NEET: Kokkuri describes him as this though Shigaraki denies it. He does meet most of the criteria though.
  • Only Friend: He ends up becoming the only person Jimeko can get along with.
  • Oral Fixation: When he's turned into a kid, he changes his cigarette for a Chupa Chup.
  • Papa Wolf: As laid back as he is, never ever threaten children around him. The final chapter implies he's been upholding the barrier protecting Kohina, at great personal pain if his wounds are to be believed.
  • The Prankster: As a tanuki, it's part of his nature to prank others.
  • Really 700 Years Old: Much like Kokkuri, who was his roommate back in the Meiji Era.
  • Ridiculously Cute Critter: Subverted. His tanuki form is... unsightly, to say the least. His half-human/half-tanuki form is even worse and grosses Kohina out. He catches on soon enough, and adopts a more cuddly form in order to appeal to women.
  • Rugged Scar: He has a cut over his right eye.
  • Scars Are Forever: After he got that scar over his right eye in Ep 6, his subsequent appearances always include the scar, even in the OP & ED.
  • Silver Fox: He possesses a muscular physique and straightforwardly masculine charm, as opposed to Kokkuri and Inugami's slender bishounen appeal.
  • Smoking Is Cool: He usually smokes and despite everything there are times he can act really cool.
  • Tanuki: He's a prankster who drinks and gambles a lot. His real form looks just like the stereotypical tanuki right down to the giant testicles. He later changes his tanuki form to be cuter.
  • Tattooed Crook: He has some impressive Yakuza style tattoos across his back and shoulders.
  • The Thing That Would Not Leave: Shigaraki just decided he likes crashing at Kokkuri's place and refuses to leave while making him clean up his messes for him. He claims they were roommates in the past, but what actually happened was that Shigaraki made a hole in the wall of his apartment to connect it to Kokkuri's because he wanted him to be his house cleaner.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: With Kokkuri. In all the time they have known each other, Shigaraki has been Kokkuri's slobby housemate who constantly irritates him, but it's not hard to see them as old friends.

    Yamamoto
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/257879_9848.jpg

Yamamoto is a perfectly ordinary boy. Any rumors about him being an alien are baseless slander.

  • Alien Among Us: An alien that goes to Kohina's school. Weird in that he doesn't even bother to properly disguise himself, yet everyone still hasn't noticed he's an alien.
  • Bad Liar: His imitation of human speech is... lacking.
  • Blatant Lies: When he meets Kokkuri and insists that he's human.
Yamamoto: Yamamoto is an Earthling. (touches Kokkuri's finger with his own) E! T!
Kokkuri: Earthlings don't call themselves Earthlings!
  • Catchphrase: E! T!
  • The Greys: Or so they say.
  • Hugh Mann: He doesn't even bother with disguising himself. Doesn't stop everyone from being fooled.
  • Last-Name Basis: Only his last name is given and used.
  • Nice Guy: Kohina thinks so, saying he's popular with classmates because he's nice and good at taking care of people. Her claims go unfounded as he didn't actually help her up when she tripped in a flashback, and him "looking after" his "younger sister" is more... disturbing than heartwarming.
  • Pretty Boy: When describing him to Kokkuri, Kohina says he's the "intelligent-looking slim boy with the bright eyes", leading Kokkuri to picture him as one. His expectations are immediately subverted when he gets a peek of him and sees that he's... an alien.
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: Absolutely no one at Kohina's school, not even Kohina herself, seems to notice that he's an alien. Apparently being grey, flying bikes, touching people's fingers while saying "E! T!" and throwing up his "sister" is considered normal.

    Jimeko
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/257877_9745.jpg

Kohina's ridiculously tsundere classmate and self-proclaimed "bully", whose main acts of "bullying" include leaving flowers at Kohina's desk.

Voiced by: Hisako Kanemoto

  • Deconstructed Character Archetype: She's a deconstruction of the Tsundere archetype. Not only does she come off as an ordinary Jerkass to everyone (and thus alienating the entire class), but also she fails to earn Kohina's friendship, only provoking mild irritation in her. And earns an uppercut for her efforts.
  • Detrimental Determination: Setting out to put a vase of flowers on Kohina's desk every day to "bully" her only hurt her wallet, and finding out what she'd been doing only caused Kohina to worry Jimeko wasn't looking after herself more.
  • Fiery Redhead: She's a short-tempered Tsundere with light orange-brown hair.
  • Girlish Pigtails: She has the stereotypical twintails of a Tsundere.
  • Hair Intakes: The two "cat ears" in her hair.
  • I Just Want to Have Friends: What she really wants more than anything is to make friends. Too bad she's too Tsundere to get along with anyone.
  • Loving Bully: A platonic version: she's always bullying Kohina because she wants to befriend her, but her inept social skills screw it up and her "bullying" methods aren't even mean-spirited anyway.
  • No Social Skills: Someone merely trying to start a conversation with her causes her to turn Tsundere and run away in embarrassment. Since she has no idea of how to make friends normally, she bullies Kohina to attract her attention, but she even screws that up and Kohina doesn't even realize Jimeko is trying to bully her.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Her real name isn't given. Jimeko is simply a nickname, derived from ijime ko ("bully"), that Kohina made up for her since she doesn't actually remember her name. The narrator goes along with it too.
  • Poke the Poodle: She puts a pretty vase of flowers on Kohina's desk every day. Kohina didn't even know this was supposed to be bullying until Jimeko pointed it out.
  • Stalker without a Crush: She's usually seen hiding behind something and spying on Kohina because she doesn't know how to befriend her.
  • Super-Deformed: Much like Kohina, she's most often drawn in a chibi-fied style that switches to a more realistic look during dramatic or serious moments.
  • Tsundere: Despite her wish to make friends, she gets embarrassed around her classmates and puts on an abrasive front that only leaves her friendless. She's even referred to as a tsundere by the narration.

    Tama

A cat goddess that runs a cafe in town. She is obsessed with frightening, macabre dolls and wants to add Kohina to her collection.

Voiced by: Yukana

  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: She seems friendly enough, but Kohina quickly learns that she's violently possessive and demanding.
  • Cat Girl: She's a cat deity who takes the form of a cute girl. She even peppers her speech with "nya"s.
  • Cats Are Mean: She's a cat goddess and in her introduction she stalks and kidnaps Kohina to turn her into her doll.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Her possessiveness of Kohina puts even Inugami to shame. She starts destroying cup noodles when it becomes apparent that Kohina likes them more than her.
  • Collector of the Strange: She collects creepy dolls and wants to add Kohina to her collection.
  • Cute and Psycho: On one moment, she's cute, cheerful and friendly. Then she turns into a violent and creepy nutjob.
  • Defeat Means Friendship: Despite kidnapping Kohina, after Kohina defeats her they're apparently on good enough terms that no one (except Inugami) raises objections about her joining them when they go to a hot spring.
  • Drunk on Milk: Like in Real Life, Matatabi (Japanese Catnip) would make her high.
  • Girl with Psycho Weapon: She's a cute Cat Girl whose weapon of choice is a very large kitchen knife.
  • Girlish Pigtails: She wears her hair in twintails.
  • Hide Your Otherness: Her human form's cat ears aren't visible since she wears her headdress most of the time.
  • Hime Cut: Her human form has blunt bangs, cheek-length sidelocks, and long Girlish Pigtails. The hairstyle goes well with her kimono.
  • Lethal Chef: She made a curry and ended up with an Eldritch Abomination with Combat Tentacles, which then ate Kohina, and the others had to fight it to free her.
  • Little Bit Beastly: Her human form keeps her cat ears and cat tail.
  • Love at First Sight: When she first appears she seems to fall for Kokkuri right away. Later, she reveals she really fell for Kohina instead because she thinks she's a doll she must add to her collection.
  • Nightmare Fetishist: She has an obsession for really macabre dolls and her shop looks more like a haunted house than a cafe. There's a reason her cafe doesn't see much business.
  • Odd Job Gods: She is explicitly referred to as a goddess, yet her only job is...running a very unpopular cafe.
  • Psycho Lesbian: Her obsession with Kohina makes even Inugami look normal in comparison.
  • Psycho Pink: Tama is a pink cat and can turn into a pink-haired girl. She's also quite a whacko with creepy tastes.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: Downplayed. She wears a red kimono and black accessories, and is introduced as Kohina's other obsessive stalker with comedic Yandere tendencies. However, she just acts weird and crazy instead of outright evil and doesn't intentionally cause trouble after her introduction.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: Subverted. She takes the appearance of a girl with pink hair and seems fairly cute and harmless, but her true self is a Nightmare Fetishist with a weird obsession with creepy dolls and Kohina.
  • Stalker with a Crush: She's first introduced when Kokkuri notices her shyly following him and Kohina around, and he assumes she likes him. When they finally confront each other, Tama makes her confession... to Kohina, whom she fell in love with at first sight because she thinks she's a doll.
  • Tsurime Eyes: Her human form has sharp, feline eyes to highlight her being a Cat Girl.
  • Yandere: She manages to be even creepier and more possessive than Inugami with her obsession with Kohina.
  • Your Mom: Kohina taunted her that her mother's been skinned and turned into a Shamisen. She did not take it well.

    Tengu
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/257881_2913.jpg

A local mountain god that takes the form of a masked man. He's quite knowledgeable and is willing to share for the right price.

Voiced by: Kosuke Toriumi

  • All Gays Are Pedophiles: He's openly gay and his preference is...younger.
  • Comedic Shotacon: He's very open about his attraction to young boys, and it's played entirely for humor.
  • Cool Mask: Sports one, unsurprising since he is a Tengu, a type of youkai that's associated with magic and martial arts.
  • Dirty Old Man: He's incredibly old since he is a youkai, but he also openly has a thing for young boys.
  • A Dog Named "Dog": A tengu named Tengu.
  • The Faceless: He takes great pains to keep his face hidden.
  • The Gods Must Be Lazy: He's quite capable of solving all the problems people come to him for, but he prefers to laze about and let others buy information off him to do it themselves.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Accuses Kokkuri of being a paedophile when he himself is one as well.
  • I Love You Because I Can't Control You: Well, maybe not love, but he takes an interest in Kohina after she wasn't interested in his face.
  • Knowledge Broker: He's a mountain god hence knows everything that happens in the mountains. It's why Shigaraki suggests going to him to find out what Kureha's deal is.
  • So Beautiful, It's a Curse: Why he keeps his face covered; anyone who looks at him is entranced.
  • Straight Gay: He's a Tengu and thus lacks any particular feminine traits, yet he's openly gay for young boys.
  • Super-Deformed: Like the other youkai, he has his own super deformed version of himself that he often uses. In the anime he's in this form the whole time and so doesn't even show his true form at all except for in the OP.
  • Tengu: It's right there in his name, and he wears the traditional long-nosed mask and has wings to complete the image.
