    Tara Bell
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tara_belle_beverly_hills_teens_234.jpg

Voiced by: Karen Bernstein

  • A Day in the Limelight: "Down and Out in the Teen Club" and "Diet Please"
  • Big Eater: Which became a issue when she needed to drop a few pounds to qualify for a beauty contest.
  • Catchphrase: "I do declare".
  • Color-Coded Characters: Pink
  • Naïve Everygirl: Polite and ladylike to a fault, Tara’s demeanor sometimes is mistaken for naivete.
  • Nice Girl: She is usually gentle and polite to everyone.
  • Out of Focus: While she is also secondary to the likes of Larke, Bianca or Pierce she starts to fall into this in later episodes. Tara's last significant appearance is in "The Kindest Cut of All" and her last appearance with any speaking lines is "McTech, P.I.". She does show up in the two part series finale, but only in a non-speaking cameo role.
  • Southern Belle: She possesses a pronounced Deep South accent.
  • Upper-Class Twit: She once said "A quarter? That's one of those little round things, right?" when talking about money with her friends. In her Broke Episode, her reaction is "That's not fair, I was born to be rich!" and she breaks down crying.

    Wilshire Brentwood

Voiced by: Michael Beattie

  • A Day in the Limelight: In "My Fair Wilshire" where he was made over by Pierce, Radley, Larke and Tara to get Bianca's attention. It worked but he didn't like the new Bianca and went back to his old self.
  • Butt-Monkey: He's… not treated the best.
  • Dogged Nice Guy: He is in love with Bianca that breaks his heart again and again.
  • Extreme Doormat: He is always bossed around by Bianca, and follows her orders no matter how much she is mean to him.
  • Hopeless Suitor: His hopeless crush on Bianca. He will never have a chance with her.
  • Lovable Coward: Demonstrated in "Rampage".
Bianca: (kidnapped by a gorilla) Wilshire, help me!
    Wilshire: (shaking in fear) How?
  • Minion with an F in Evil: He is usually a minion to Bianca in her schemes, despite being a very nice guy. He's just too shy and loyal to protest.
  • Nice Guy: Often proves himself to be this. After winning a valuable prize in a contest, he donates it to a children's charity instead of being swayed by newfound wealth.
  • No Accounting for Taste: His attraction to Bianca. Only he knows why.
  • Older Than They Look: It's occasionally implied Wilshire is slightly older than everyone else.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: The rare times Bianca is nice to him. There are also at least two episodes where he wins contests.
  • Undying Loyalty: His blind love and devotion to Bianca. Sometimes he even likes when she gets angry at him.
  • Yes-Man: He always blindly follows Bianca and does whatever she wants him to do.

    Nikki Darling

    Bianca Dupree
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_niyjazaoav1qkw6v6o5_500.png

  • Alpha Bitch: She is a rich, manipulative, and snobby diva who is constantly scheming against Class Princess Larke.
  • Attention Whore: Gets jealous whenever Larke gets more attention than her.
  • Bad Boss: She is very cruel to her chauffeur and Yes-Man Wilshire.
  • Beauty Is Bad: Just as beautiful as she is mean. However, Larke and the other beautiful girls in the cast, subvert this trope.
  • Born Unlucky: Nothing goes right for her, although she usually brings it on herself, to Hoist by Her Own Petard levels.
  • Color-Coded Characters: Magenta/dark pink
  • Even Evil Has Standards: In "Downhill Racer", when she realizes her latest scheme might get Larke killed, she risked her own life to rescue her and later withdrew from the competition.
  • Expy: She's basically Veronica, from Archie Comics, without her redeeming characteristics.
  • Failure Is the Only Option: She never succeeded, ever. She even remarked on it once, Breaking the Fourth Wall style.
  • The Fashionista: After shopping, she is afraid her new clothing will be out of fashion before she gets home.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: It can be explained by the rest being very nice people, which may be the only reason why they allow Bianca to hang out with them. They also frequently team up against Bianca to punish her for her schemes.
  • Friendly Enemy: While being the closest the show has to a recurring villain, she's frequently seen hanging out with many of the other characters, even joining in on some of their fun such as a Slumber Party.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: She wants to win the heart of Troy. She is very jealous of Larke's relationship with him and is constantly scheming to ruin it, since Bianca has a major crush on him as well.
  • Hopeless Suitor: To Troy. It's very obvious that he only likes Larke, despite all of Bianca's attempts to win his his heart.
  • It's All About Me: She never cares about anyone other than herself.
  • I Am Very British: She speaks with a British accent that comes and goes.
  • Jerkass: Bianca has nearly zero redeeming traits, at least on the surface.
  • Karmic Butt-Monkey: The biggest Butt-Monkey on the show but she brings it on herself. It is usually the result of her own schemes backfiring on her.
  • Laughably Evil: She is the most villainous character, but her Rich Bitch attitude is Played for Laughs, and she always fails at the end of the episode.
  • Lethal Chef: Seen in the episode where she lost her memory and tried to be nice by baking a cake.
  • Light Feminine and Dark Feminine: Dark to Larke's Light. She is the ruthless and manipulative girl with black hair, while Larke is the good-hearted blonde girl.
  • Manipulative Bitch: At least she tries to manipulate the situations to get her way, but her manipulations always fail.
  • Pink Means Feminine: Her main dress is dark pink, as is her evening dress.
  • Pretty in Mink: Has worn a few furs, like a brown fur wrap with her evening dress.
  • Rich Bitch: The funny thing is that most of the other cast is also filthy rich, so she just fills the bitch part, although she seems to be slightly richer than them.
  • Rich in Dollars, Poor in Sense: She is forced to drive herself one episode, and she's horrible at it.
  • Sore Loser: Bianca holds a costume contest for Halloween, and after a couple Dresses the Same situations with Larke, Bianca still loses and then throws everyone out of her mansion. Her being a Sore Loser is either the ending or the entire premise of half the episodes.
  • Spotlight-Stealing Squad: Many episodes are focused on her or feature her heavily, to the point where she's the closest thing the show has to a consistent main character and nearly a Villain Protagonist.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: The rare times she gets a happy ending. Such as "Bianca's Diary" where she is not the antagonist, and the other teens help her to get her revenge.
  • Token Evil Teammate: She is part of the main cast's friend circle, despite being the closest thing to a villain on the show, and very willing to sabotage and backstab her so-called friends.
  • Unknown Rival: To Larke. Several times, she tries to compete with her, when Larke isn't even aware that Bianca wants to sabotage her.
  • Upper-Class Twit: In addition to their wealth and privilege, she tends to be snobby, thoughtless, and rude. She also has no idea how to perform basic tasks.
  • Villainous Crush: Her crush on Troy. She often comes up with plans to steal him away from Larke.
  • Villain Protagonist: She and Pierce are the main antagonists in most episodes. Many of these episodes focus on Bianca's point of view more rather than the the good guys.
  • Wasted Beauty: Bianca's beauty is acknowledged even by other characters, but her personality is really unlikable and she fails to attract Troy's attention.

    Troy Jeffries
Voiced by: Jonathan Potts

  • Advertised Extra: Troy is in most of the episodes and is important in the sense that he is Larke's boyfriend and the target of Bianca's affections but few episodes are actually told from his point of view and he is far less developed than Pierce, Chester or Wiltshire
  • Big Man on Campus: He is the most popular guy in Beverly Hills, the perfect male counterpart to Class Princess Larke.
  • Chick Magnet: Almost every female character wants him.
  • The Everyman: Personality wise maybe. The dude is rich and doesn't really relate to the viewers but maybe him playing football does. But he's made to be so perfect that he doesn't resonate to an average person.
  • Lovable Jock: He is into sports, and a likable guy.
  • The Generic Guy: He doesn't have much of a personality besides being Larke's boyfriend.
  • Nice Guy: He is usually friendly to everyone. He doesn't like Bianca, but he is polite to her until she goes too far.
  • Satellite Love Interest: Most of the time he only serves as Larke's boyfriend and the object of Bianca's affections. It's extremely rare for him to get a A Day in the Limelight that doesn't involve Larke or Bianca.
  • Straight Man: To every guy in the show. He doesn't go through much slapstick (unless there's a gag with all the characters getting slapstick collectively), and literally has no issues in the show.

    Chester McTech

Voiced by: Sean Roberge

  • Adorably Precocious Child: Girls think he's adorable.
  • Child Prodigy: The youngest, but by far the smartest, member of the cast.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: His inventions usually get plots going.
  • Grade Skipper: Chester has skipped several grades to become a 10-year-old freshman (and honor student) at Beverly Hills High School.
  • Kid-Appeal Character: He was very clearly meant to be a cute character for the younger audience. Interestingly enough, he's actually one of the more developed characters.
  • Labcoat of Science and Medicine: Wears always this.
  • Lovable Nerd: For a boy his age, he certainly doesn't lack female attention. He even managed to land a date with Larke (accidentally at that).
  • Nice Guy: Always willing to help, using his inventions, whenever the rest of the cast has a problem.
  • Odd Friendship: Some episodes give him one with Radley.
  • Precocious Crush: Chester seems to have a crush on both Larke and Bianca. He often blushes when Larke is around him, but there are some episodes (like "Jillian's Lesson") where he claims to be in love with Bianca.
  • Puppy Love: He and Jillian start to like each other in "Jillian's Lesson".
  • Shorter Means Smarter: Much shorter and younger than everyone else, and easily the smartest character.
  • The Short Guy with Glasses: He is a bespectacled and short boy.
  • Tagalong Kid: He's significantly younger than most of the cast, but still often hangs out with the protagonists.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: He is afraid of spiders and heights.

    Switchboard
Voiced by: Joanna Schellenberg

  • A Day in the Limelight: "Nothing but Gossip"
  • Butt-Monkey: Most other characters usually treat her as a nuisance.
  • Genki Girl: Probably the perkiest of all the girls on the show.
  • Gossipy Hens: Her defining trait is that she likes to gossip.
  • Informed Attribute: She's considered the least attractive of the girls, and there's one episode where Gig is horrified at the idea of dating her because he wanted "a beautiful girl like Larke or Tara". Switchboard's character design makes her look as beautiful as the other girls, just with big glasses.
  • Innocently Insensitive: She genuinely doesn't seem to understand how irritating others find her gossipy habits.
  • Motor Mouth: When she starts talking, it's hard to calm her down.
  • Ms. Exposition: Her role in most of her appearances. She tends to dip into Captain Obvious territory.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Her real name is Brenda McTech.

    Larke Tanner
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/larke.jpg

Voiced by: Mary Long

  • Academic Athlete: She is good at many sports, and she was able to give the correct answer to questions of general knowledge in a contest.
  • The Ace: "I'm just your average shark fighting cover girl." Larke is a successful working teen model who excels at numerous sports and general knowledge. She's admitted she's an inferior surfer to Bianca but otherwise there seems very little she can't do.
  • Always Someone Better: She always defeats Bianca at everything.
  • Born Lucky: In contrast to Bianca being Born Unlucky. Even when Bianca successfully sabotages Larke (such as ruining Larke's haircut in "The Makeover"), Larke always ends up winning anyway.
  • Class Princess: She is the most popular girl in Beverly Hills, not just because she is pretty but also because of her kind and caring personality.
  • Cool Big Sis: She's also a proud surrogate sister to Chester McTech, who has bailed her out of numerous fixes.
  • Dude Magnet: All the boys want to date her.
  • Everyone Loves Blondes: Blonde and the most popular girl. Even the raven-haired beauty Bianca is overshadowed by Larke.
  • The Fashionista: She is a model and often wins many of the contests that she enters, although her rival Bianca tries hard to sabotage her.
  • Foil: Kind-hearted and sweet to the core, she is Bianca’s complete opposite.
  • The Generic Girl: Surprisingly, since she is also the main character. She is mostly characterized as the nice Girl Next Door, so she doesn't have any quirks compared to most of the other characters.
  • Girly Girl with a Tomboy Streak: A sweet, rich, and fashionable Class Princess with a pink car, a pink and girly bedroom, and she likes modeling and entering beauty contests. But several episodes show her being good at sports.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: She's blonde and one of the most honest and kindest girls on campus and in town.
  • Innocent Blue Eyes: Has blue eyes that match her innocent personality and Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold.
  • Kindhearted Cat Lover: She is very affectionate to her pet cat Tiara.
  • Light Feminine and Dark Feminine: Light to Bianca's Dark. Bianca is the ruthless and manipulative girl with black hair, while Larke is the good-hearted blonde girl.
  • Loved by All: Everyone loves her, except for Bianca, who is extremely envious of Larke's success. At best, she and Bianca can be Vitriolic Best Buds.
  • Nice Girl: A very caring girl, always ready to help her friends.
  • Ms. Fanservice: In-Universe, at least.
  • Pink Means Feminine: She drives a bright pink Ferrari.
  • Spoiled Sweet: Like everyone in the cast, she is rich and can buy anything. She is also the kindest and most willing to help others.
  • You Go, Girl!: There are times where she proves to be even better than boys at sports competitions.

    Jillian Thorndyke

  • Annoying Younger Sibling: To Pierce.
  • Boys Have Cooties: The idea of embracing boys is "totally yucky" for her when she first appears. Changes her mind before the end of the episode.
  • Bratty Half-Pint: She is very much a brat to her brother Pierce, although she usually gets along better with the other characters.
  • Cousin Oliver: Not quite, but she doesn't seem to appear until episode 24. She does have a blink-and-you'll-miss-it appearance in the intro, though she looks kind of different.
  • Little Miss Snarker: She often teases her brother with snarky remarks.
  • Puppy Love: She and Chester start to like each other in "Jillian's Lesson".
  • Precocious Crush: Lke all the girls, she has a crush on Troy.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Averted. She and Pierce only share a passing resemblance.
  • Tagalong Kid: Sometimes, she hangs out with her brother's friends, much to Pierce's annoyance.
  • Unmoving Plaid: Her shirt is a notable example.

    Pierce Thorndyke III

Voiced by: Stephen McMulkin

  • Athletically Challenged: Any time there is some sport or physical activity to do, he claims to be great at it, but always ends up failing and embarrassing himself.
  • Balloon Belly: He gains one that threatens to pop open his shirt after being fed a whole picnic in "Bianca's Diary".
  • Butt-Monkey: Even when he's not being a jerk, he tends to suffer Amusing Injuries or humiliations, often due to bad luck or incompetence.
  • Camp Straight: He talks and acts in an effeminate way, usually looking at the mirror, gushing over his own appearance and his "perfect hair". But he's also a Casanova Wannabe obsessed with girls.
  • Casanova Wannabe: He likes to think of himself as The Casanova and hits on all the girls around him. He just gets turned down over and over again.
  • Dirty Coward: In dangerous situations, he is often the most cowardly of the group, although he obviously doesn't want to admit it.
  • Disappointing Older Sibling: To his little sister Jillian. She has a low opinion of Pierce and often belittles him.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Often treated like this. In "Look Deep Into My Eyes", the other Teen Club members can't think of a single thing they like about him.
  • Handsome Lech: He is good-looking (though not as much as he thinks), but his egotistical personality turns off all the girls, especially since he always makes sexist remarks about all the ladies finding him irresistible.
  • It's All About Me: He's willing to lie, cheat, and backstab others to get his way, although he does it less often than Bianca.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Has a few moments of decency, and is shown to be at least a better person than Bianca most of the time.
  • Karmic Butt-Monkey: Like Bianca, he is a jerkish and arrogant character who often suffers misfortune and humiliation.
  • Narcissist: So vain and self-obsessed that in one episode he doesn't even know the meaning of the word "humble".
  • Pet the Dog: He gets occasional moments where he'll spontaneously do nice things for someone, even if he does them in his typical jerkish and self-centered way.
  • Prince Charming Wannabe: He thinks he is a suave and charismatic ladies man. Nobody else thinks so, especially not the girls.
  • Ship Tease: With Bianca in many episodes ("A Time to Remember", "Jillian's Lesson", "Pierce's Hundred Dollars", "Bianca's Diary", and others). Although the attraction is mostly one-sided on Pierce's part, and Bianca usually treats Pierce as a nuisance.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: His defining trait. He thinks very highly of himself, and overestimates his own popularity.
  • Spotlight-Stealing Squad: He's a close contender with Bianca for the sheer number of plots or subplots that revolve around him, and even in episodes where he is a minor character he tends to get a big scene or two (being the resident Butt-Monkey these tend to involve humiliation.)
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: In "Poll Climbers," Pierce loses the election for class president. Larke, looking to cheer him up, agrees to go on a date with him and even says that he has the potential to be a good boyfriend.
  • Upper-Class Twit: Like Bianca, he is snobby, thoughtless, rude, and cluless about basic tasks. He also qualifies as Rich in Dollars, Poor in Sense.
  • Villainous Crush: His crush on Larke (and many of the other girls for that matter). He often comes up with plans to get them fall in love with him.
  • Villain Protagonist: He and Bianca are the main antagonists. Some episodes focus greatly on Pierce's point of view more rather than the the good guys.
