Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.

I was trying to add an image to my Troper's Page, but the image can't appear. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
openAbundance of deadpan snarkers on Nightmare Fuel pages
On Nightmare Fuel pages, there is a swarm of people in Deadpan Snarker mode saying things but meaning the opposite. Common are "lovely" and "sweet dreams". I find this way of talking very obnoxious, but I don't want to remove it because it might be allowed and I don't want to be a pain in the neck.
openWhere would this scene fit? Western Animation
In an episode The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius, Jimmy asks Goddard to use x-ray on Cindy's clothes when she's accused of stealing one of Sheen's Ultra Lord figures, prompting Carl to avert his gaze, Sheen to look on in excitement, and Cindy herself to furiously slap Jimmy across in the face at that suggestion.
Would that fit into Pervert Revenge Mode (even though the x-raying didn't actually happen), Power Perversion Potential, or somewhere else?
openKilling stalking edits
rossaa has made some problematic edits for Killing Stalking, especially on the YMMV page here. Now, I'm aware that the manhwa is extremely divisive due to its content, but I think rossaa's edits still have an agenda to them.
For Draco in Leather Pants, they've cited random Tumblr posts as "evidence" several times. (They do this on other pages as well.) They're also talking/arguing on the page under Evil Is Sexy, and this:
- Many of the fans come also off as too young for such a series, expecting it to be a Yaoi, and then romanticize a abusive relationship.
seems too potshot-y. It was deleted by another troper, but rossaa re-added it. They also added this:
- The popularity the series gained in TikTok only further proves this point, something that includes abuse, rape and murder and is intended for adults, is used by teenage fangirls for their fetishes, romanticizing abusive relationships.
They've also blanked the Funny page for the manhwa.
Edited by iamconstantineopenWord of Saint Paul status Live Action TV
What happens when a Word of Saint Paul entry becomes canon? I asked this question on the discussion page for The Umbrella Academy in reference to the entry about Klaus's sexuality, but I'm also curious as to the general protocol.
openEllipses in Manga Quotes
This is a little bit of a weird question. In manga, ellipses are often present in excess. My understanding is that this allows dialogue to flow between different speech bubbles and pages. However, this frequently inhibits the flow of dialogue when it's written "regularly" (as sentences rather than sentence fragments in separate speech bubbles).
When we are including quotes from a manga, are we permitted to remove the ellipses that do not make sense? Sometimes, due to the form of the manga, a quote is two sentences long and there are ellipses between every three words, which does not work when the quote doesn't need to be separated by speech bubbles.
Please let me know if this doesn't make sense. I...wasn't really sure how to explain this.
openStreet Fighter Shout Out
Ryu
"His Hadouken might be a reference to the Kamehameha. In the anime Street Fighter II V, it's even charged up the same way as Roshi's Kamehameha. The Shinkuu Hadouken even becomes pretty much a Kamehameha in the Marvel vs. Capcom series. Hadouken also literally translates as Wave Motion Fist. Takashi Nishiyama mentioned this particular reference in an interview with 1up (sadly, no longer online)".
Actually, his Hadouken is a reference to a famous 1974 anime in Japan called Space Battleship Yamato. Takashi Nishiyama credits the anime for that. In the anime, there is a super weapon called the Hadouho (Wave Motion Gun). It charges up a beam of energy and fires it to it's target. Hadouho/Wave Motion Gun is where the Hadouken got it's origin.
openProblematic entry in YMMV/KamenRiderZeroOne
These days a problematic Arc Fatigue entry has appeared on Kamen Rider Zero-One.
the entry (currently commented out) in question is this:
- Arc Fatigue: Many fans believe that the Workplace Competition arc dragged on for far too long, and that the time spent on the arc could have been used instead to dive into other more interesting stories or developing the characters.
I had to delete the entry because it was not an example since this arc barely lasted the same as the first arc and it was a complaint.
Later that entry was re-added by TrueChaos without an explanation, then I had to delete that problematic entry again with its deletion reason and enter into a conversation with TrueChaos.
After the conversation and after clarifying several things, we reached a point where we need more help.
Moving the entry to one of two tropes (or both) It's the Same, Now It Sucks! for its repetitiveness and Padding because while it is entertaining and contributes a lot to the plot of the show it feels long to some extent or the option to leave it in Arc Fatigue because supposedly it doesn't add anything to the show and ruins the pacing.
Edited by RicardoRenegadoopenMassive amounts of ZCE in the ''Zettai Karen Children'' Character Page Anime
I was looking over the page for Zettai Karen Children and I noticed an astounding amount of ZCE, both just blank trope names and "Trope Name: Is this" entries, as well as a great deal of improper punctuation/capitalization and other such issues. I nuked most of the ZCE entries, but if anyone who's watched this anime can help restore them with the context they need, it would be very much appreciated.
openProper use of No Body Left Behind
I have seen the No Body Left Behind trope being used for examples that are better covered by I'm Melting!, Reduced to Dust or Defeat Equals Explosion.
Reading the description of No Body Left Behind, it seems to cover mainly "fading into nothingness" and not the above cases.
What is the proper use of the trope? Is it superfluous when I'm Melting!, Reduced to Dust or Defeat Equals Explosion examples are already present?
openShinsekai Into The Depths
I am ready to recreate this page because I have a few examples of tropes that I can add to the page. The game is a Metroidvania with a plot that takes place After The End and fully inverts Super Not-Drowning Skills. With permission, I'd like the page reinstated and I can add these few tropes.
openNo Title
Fanfic.Outside Context Problem has a one-line description, no indices, only four examples, exactly one wick (not even a crosswick, just an unrelated wick), and seemingly no effort in over a year to fix any of these problems except a wick to Needs Wiki Magic Love.
Is this page worth keeping?
openInitially commented-out zero context examples
so i've been seeing stuff like this happen a lot on the pages i follow, and they always seem to be by the same person. is this allowed? right now i'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and assuming they'll make them not ZCEs later, which is probably why they started off commented.
openHow to properly add to this trope?
I am trying to add to the "Mythology Gag" for Marle's character page under FF 7 R but I think my input method was wrong. I looked under "how to post an example" but didn't find what I was looking for.
Mine is the text under "Mythology Gag" that says: " - And according to lore from FFX, "Marlena", is the Cactuar word for "Grandma", which definitely fits Marle."
Any help or page links are appreciated
openThe script page for Spider-Man 4 be restored?
I read the reason it was deleted was the script not being made publicly available. It actually was for years (around the early 2010s, 2012-2013 if I remember right), including the production details. It has been covered by a few YouTubers: Example #1, Example #2, Example #3, Example #4.
I saw several unmade films have pages, why not this one which has a legit poster?

openForums get stuck at the top as a blue link
Does anyone else sometimes have a bug where in a section of the forums (such as the list of forums under “Wiki and Forums”), one of the forums gets stuck at the top (as in it always seems like it had the most recent post) for some time, with it constantly showing as a blue link as well?

The quote page for Neon Genesis Evangelion includes several quotes from influential figures such as Kurt Vonnegut and Jean-Paul Sartre. It seems to me that these quotes are here primarily to comment on the main themes and philosophies of Evangelion, but of course, the quotes do not directly mention Evangelion itself.
Please note that I only have basic knowledge of Evangelion, as I have not watched the anime. If these quotes are directly referenced within the anime, forgive me. But the quote page does not clarify this, so if this is indeed not the case, would this be breaking the rules?
