Find a Trope:
openHug on sight
Every time Character 1 sees Character 2, they instantly hug them. That's practically their way of saying hello.
openFrom duel to battle
Is there a trope for when a small fight (such as a one-on-one duel) escalates into a much larger fight, possibly a Big Badass Battle Sequence? Kinda like what happened on Geonosis in Attack of the Clones.
openThe last to know, etc.
A character that is always the last to know, least important, etc.
Examples: Abby was the last to know that her brother Adam was alive between her two siblings, parents, and Adam's exes. Abby was the last to know Adam had been shot. Abby was never given a position in her father's business. Abby herself said "I know Dad loves all his children, just not equally." No one could deny it.
openFight=Breakup Live Action TV
In both Star Trek Deep Space Nine and Friends the romantic relationship-inexperienced guy (Chandler and Odo) believe that having a fight means that the relationship is over, and the wiser woman (Monica and Kira) have to explain that it was just a fight, you work through it. Does this happen anywhere else?
openOne-song concert Film
A concert is shown where the performer(s) only do(es) one song. It may or may not be made clear that the song we see comprises the entire show. Might appear in TV or musicals as well.
Examples that spring to mind immediately: Yo-Yo Ma playing Bach’s first suite for unaccompanied cello (actually just the first movement) on “The West Wing” (S 2 E 10, “Noël”); Lucy T. Slut singing “Special” in “Avenue Q”; Lili von Shtupp singing “I’m Tired” in “Blazing Saddles.”
Is there a name for this? Or is it a subset of something more general?

Main.Holy Relic is a redlink with 2 wicks.
Do we have a trope for it?
Edited by MaladyopenMistaken for flirting
The hero see a nice girl, who seems to be flirting with him, but she's actually flirting with the other guy behind him.
openLocation Trope? Live Action TV
Do we have this one?
Alice is visiting Texas, and Bob, a local in the city, asks where she's from.
Alice says "I'm from New York, born and bred."
Bob says "Oh, I've been there, Manhattan was good".
Alice then says "Not that New York, another one."
Other than Names The Same is there a trope about it not being that place?
openVertical cut.
Is there a trope for when someone is vertically cut in half ? Or should I just use Half the Man He Used to Be ?
Edited by jOSEFdelavilleopenIs there a trope for there being multiple heroes of a work, that work together?
Is there a trope for there being multiple heroes of a work, that work together?
Instead of there being a singular hero?
I've just looked through Heroes, the index of heroes, and only found Five-Man Band, which is more than I want, and has roles instead of being generic.
openNonbinary equivalent of Fangirl or Fanboy
Exactly What It Says on the Tin . Just wondering if there's at least a term for it. I'm rather sure there isn't one as of yet, due to a lack of nonbinary characters in typical media.
openMistake / time travel trope - what trope is this? Live Action TV
Alice and Bob decide to Time Travel from Wednesday 27 November 2019 (the In-Universe, not Real Time date) to Tuesday 27 November 1990. When they get there, Bob notices that it's Wednesday 27 November 1990 on a poster advertising a concert coming up WED 27 NOV 1990, but he knows that something's wrong, as he's seen on a calendar in the present day, that the day is supposed to be a Tuesday. Alice has no idea what he's going on about?
Is there a Time Travel Tropes trope for when someone travels back in time and notices the day of the week is wrong, or something like that?
Edited by Merseyuser1resolved Angry Nerd Western Animation
What trope(s) could be applied to characters that are stereotypically nerdy, and are angry at each other (for getting fandom stuff wrong, being too nerdy, ruining their chances at socializing or dating, ruining the fandom, being into creepy or obnoxious stuff, taking financial advantage of others interests, destroying valuable fandom material, or demanding they get a job)?
openWhat Might Have Been (in-verse) Live Action TV
TV shows that feature alternate realities can invite the phenomenon of "what if?" wherein people question or wonder what might have happened had they done X instead of Y. One such example is the Counterpart TV series. I'm not sure what it would be called for an in-verse version as opposed to the Trivia trope for real-world examples of what-if thinking about popular media.
openUnwilling Conqueror
Something like the opposite of The Quisling: a member of the invading army who doesn't want to be there and gladly subscribes to the Occupiers Out of Our Country rhetoric, although it doesn't usually extend to actively collaborating with La Résistance.
openUnofficial work by the official artist(s)
When the artist (or one of several) in a work creates an unofficial derivative work from it.
I remember we have this (launched from TLP), but I forgot the name...
openPeer Pressure makes you Stupid
Do we have a trope for when someone does something stupid just because everybody else is doing it?
openViewer gender reveal
Is there something like Unsettling Gender-Reveal, but where the reveal is specifically to the audience, not the other characters?
What I'm thinking of is a scene where the viewer is directly shown something about a transgender or crossdresser, or Gender Bender character's body that indicates their trans status or true gender/sex. An example of this is the scene in Degrassi S 10 E 15 My Body Is A Cage where Adam is shown binding his chest; the viewer gets to see him in an undershirt with the outline of his breasts visible. A very different example is the "Goodbye Horses" scene in Silence of the Lambs.
This kind of scene seems de rigeur in portraying trans characters in mainstream media. Is it covered by an existing Gender Reveal subtrope?
Edited by protondonoropenEldritch area of effect
The ancient artifact is so alien and powerful that just being near it is enough to feel the efects. It assymilates and twists the surroundings because of it's dark powers Something like the walking wasteland trope and eldritch location combined The best example i can think of it rn are the markers of Dead Space, also the meteorite in Annihilation, the eldrazi from MTG show aspects of it

Two flavors of this I suppose. The trope name for choosing a faction at character creations (Horde vs Alliance), and the trope for joinable in game groups (Bards, Wizards, Assassins, Thieves etc in Skyrim). Thank you, I just cannot seem to dig up the name.
