Have an idea for a new trope, but don't know for sure if it's a good idea? Did Trope Finder give you similar concepts, but not exactly what you wanted? Are you just looking for a focus to a broader idea?
You've come to the right place!
On this thread, you can share your ideas with the masses before making that TLP draft, so if there's any lingering uncertainty about the validity of your idea or you just want some help pinning down a good idea, ask away and help others out, too!
A related sandbox I need to pitch is the Trope Idea Salvage Yard. If you've an idea but can't personally work on it, you can add it to the yard and let someone else create the draft. Or you can browse it yourself if you need more draft ideas, whether or not you feel they should be mentioned here first.
Got ideas for non-trope pages you need help with? Never fear, the New Page Workshop Thread is here!
With that out of the way: Let's discuss some ideas.

I mean, it could get a wick check surely...
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessMaybe I will do one sometime. It sounds like the trope might be too vague.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallOh it def needs TRS if only to clarify the description since the scope is kind of ambiguous until you look at the laconic.
But the question was if theres room for a trope for things like a cow appearing spontaneously or in a random location and that would be covered under the current version of Drop the Cow.

Then it's just a subtrope.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessIt could be, but not a cow specific version as Twiddles suggested, I don't think. Runs into the exact same issue as has been discussed with a lot of the "Everything Is Better With" tropes. If its broadened to " any animal appearing suddenly for comedic purposes", that would be better.
I didn't suggest a cow-specific version.
Probably also related to Non Sequitur.

I read the "like cows" as more of an intention than an example, then. My mistake.
Many And I Must Scream examples are of people who are fully conscious yet completely unable to do anything. For And I Must Scream that is mostly misuse but “Prolonged unconciousness without control is a Fate Worse than Death” might be a valid trope.
Why waste time when you can see the last sunset last? And I Must Scream will go to TRS once the And I Must Scream Wick Check is done. May as well save a split for then.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessCan Only Move the Eyes has the definition that And I Must Scream is often misused for, but the title doesn't make that clear, so I added it to Tropes Needing TRS a while ago.
Have we a trope about Quirky Little Figurines?
Thinking about fictional ones like the G.U.Y.S in Steven Universe. Or Yondu's affection for Trolls in Guardians of the Galaxy or Jimmy bribing the clerk with Beanie Babies in Better Call Saul. Has anything of that sort been listed?
Kinda reminds me of that King of the Hill episode where Hank's mum were using these cute figures to cope with her abusive marriage.
There's also a Beanie Babies parody in iCarly and the collector is depicted as unmanly and weird.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Ten from Transformers: More than Meets the Eye makes cute little scale figures of the cast to express his affection for them!

Trope-tan is here! ➯ my pronouns are ze/hirPart of the thugs' Hidden Depths in Tangled: "And Vladimir collects ceramic unicorns..."
Did a little research. We have Kitsch Collection but it focuses more on the collectors than on the figurines themselves, and also includes other items like paintings. Do you think this would be a subtrope of that?

Edna Walker just started a sandbox for animals and their stock cartoon forms. Anyone got any examples?
Check out my forum game: Rate the above YMMV.two more sandboxes, Stock Cartoon Monkey and Stock Cartoon Songbird. Have any idea on description and examples?
Um, I don't think we need a trope for every stock animal portrayal. One supertrope is enough.
Macron's notesYeah, I was gonna say, I don't really get it.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure Purenesssmall rant incoming but this was kind of the thing I was afraid of since we recently had a stock penguin and a stock alligator trope go through the TLP. i get there's a pattern of representation but if all of the examples are just some version of "yes, the animal in this work indeed follows the stock depiction as laid out in the trope description", I feel like it'd be much better to just merge them all into one definition-only supertrope and be done with it....
Indeed. I was not convinced about those drafts, but couldn't say anything against them. But in aggregate, just creating different stock drafts for dogs, sheep, fish, etc; it will simply create too much clutter.
Here's the stock alligator trope, Green Gators.
Green Gators is a subtrope of Typical Cartoon Animal Colors but is not about stock alligator depictions. Even when alligators are drawn realistically, they're still depicted as green.
And nobody's saying we should have pages for every stock animal depiction. We just think a stock animal supertrope should have at least 4 subtrope pages, like how Stock Food Depictions has Cartoon Meat, Cartoon Cheese, ISO-Standard Urban Groceries, and Every Pizza Is Pepperoni.
Check out my forum game: Rate the above YMMV.
Maybe Drop the Cow needs TRS for being too vague? Either that or I'm just jumping to conclusions.
