Character pages are a large chunk of the wiki, but they're often filled with problems that don't get resolved. These problems include:
- Zero Context Examples
- Indentation problems, including bulleting tropes under supertropes or tropeslashing
- Spoiler tag misuse
- A lack of alphabetization
- Empty character folders
- Plagiarized character descriptions
- Misused tropes, or tropes that don't belong on character pages
- Broken or incorrect formatting
- Subjective / Trivia trope mentions
Per How to Create a Character Page, character pages should only include tropes that describe the characters. These tropes should fall under Characterization Tropes or one of its related indexes, Unless they're recurring character traits (distinctive things that the character does repeatedly). If you're unsure what counts as a character trope, you can ask about that at Are These Character Tropes.
All characters must have at least one contextualized trope for their section or folder to be visible. If you find a character that has no contextualized tropes present, comment out the entire section and add this tag:

- Inanimate objects and locations on character pages have their own cleanup thread

Eh, it's for a random roleplay with and equally bad works page. Not much to really spoil there... and honestly, Idk if either page is salvageable.
(But I should probably take it to the Roleplay thread then shouldn't I...)

Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessOnce I saw "SHSL Fashionista", I noped out of it pretty quickly.
(Don't highlight my spoiler tag if you're unfamiliar with Danganronpa!)
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.Fair enough.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessCharacters. The Grand Heist II has wall-to-wall ZC Es.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportThe few tropes on Characters.Monocity that have context could be moved to the main work page. I also LOL'd that someone thinks Welsh is a trope.

Keet cleanupThey'd have to be moved anyway; the page is doomed for Darth if we can't find a link to the RP itself.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI'd like to post a list of the character pages I frequently work on so that they can be further improved or proofread them and find mistakes I may have missed or made:
- Viridescent
- Remnant Inferis: DOOM
- Ask White Pearl and Steven (almost!) anything
- Defenders of the Universe
- The Virtue of Revenge
- TFA Kaleidoscope
- Same Difference
- Darkfire1220's Challenger
- Empathy
- A Man of Iron
- BlazBlue - Ragna the Bloodedge
- The Mighty Thor The Character
- Friendly Foreign Exchange Student Spider-Man!
Any help that can be provided in improving and fixing any mistakes would be appreciated.
All the info on Characters.RWBY Cherish was removed because "The series is taken in a new direction, so all of the current information is being deleted." Should it just be cut?
I'm concerned about the current status of the Sonic the Hedgehog - Antagonists page.
The page splits up characters using "Eras" as Sonic Generations does, with there being three eras: "Classic", "Dreamcast", and "Modern". While this was an effective way to separate periods of Sonic history at the time Generations came out, it's becoming more and more obsolete; since the idea of splitting the eras into more than just "Classic" and "Modern" hasn't been explored much more by the series, the "Modern Era" section of the character page now covers fifteen years of Sonic games. By contrast, the "Classic Era" (assuming it ends with Sonic R) covers six years of games (1991-1997), while the "Dreamcast Era" (assuming it ends with Sonic Riders, which was released the same year as the explicitly-stated "Modern" game Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), but predates it by about 9 months) covers eight years (1998-2006).
Furthermore, the console and Nintendo 3DS versions of Generations are inconsistent on what counts as the "Dreamcast Era". The 3DS version counts "Dreamcast" as only the Sega Dreamcast itself (indicated by the Sonic Adventure games being the only two games in the era, and a boss from Sonic Heroes serving as the boss of the game's "Modern" section), the console versions count The Sixth Generation Of Console Video Games as a whole as being within the "Dreamcast Era" (shown by Heroes being one of the three games represented in its "Dreamcast" section). The character page, meanwhile, contradicts itself by counting Shadow the Hedgehog as part of the "Dreamcast Era", but counting Sonic Rush and Sonic Riders as part of the "Modern Era".
Overall, I don't think the "Era" system works as a means of separating the characters on the antagonists page, especially when it's the only page to do so.
Agreed.
Caught Characters.Legacies, which is a mess of ZCEs. Also, there's a link to Hot Mom.
Contains 20% less fat than the leading value brand!Characters.Path Of Exile is a mess I want to untangle eventually. Spoilers in the description, terrible Example Indentation (and subbulleted tropes), Zero Context Examples that are only partially commented out, a bunch of empty/untroped and therefore useless character headers (a few I've already commented out), and the page organization itself is incomplete (someone hadn't drafted all 10 Acts, so they just... left it off at Act 7. And since then editors are mostly adding info about post-Act content, which is where the bulk of modern Path of Exile content is anyway). It's just a relic of old troping that's accumulated over time.
I want to make more drastic organization changes (probably split Act content into the 5 towns + other characters while the the rest remains) but for now I'm cross-posting this with discussion there and highlighting the things that objectively violate wiki policy and should be fixed.
(x3) Dividing Dreamcast and Modern is a bad idea in general. Fans don't agree on where one ends and where one begins. In Sega's mind there's just Classic and Modern.

Sonic Generations was split into Classic, Dreamcast, and Modern, though. This thread proposed reorganizing the character pages into Heroes, Villains, and Others from each era. The classic era pages exist as sandboxes (Sonic The Hedgehog Classic Era Heroes and so on), but there hasn't been much progress.

Keet cleanupCharacters.Survivor Xover Version
Way too many ZC Es. If we comment them all out, a lot of character entries would be blank.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportI vote we move the good examples over and cutlist.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessThe Ideal Sponger Life Carpa Kingdom could easily be moved back into The Ideal Sponger Life with minimal losses.
Contains 20% less fat than the leading value brand!Characters.Bobbys World. I don't even know where to start with this: no character images, one line descriptions, tons of ZCEs... the dog doesn't even have any tropes!
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢Cut, cut, cut.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessCompletely fair. I'll comb through the examples when I wake up and see if there's anything salvageable before sending it off to the scrap heap.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢I don't think cutting the Bobby's World characters page is necessary, but that's just my opinion. I've seen FAR worse characters pages than this. For example Characters.Zoobles

I'm mainly a fan of underrated media. How is the "Anime, Manga, and Other Adaptations" section on Characters.Pokemon organized? Shouldn't it be alphabetically or by release?
Edited by Pichu-kun on Jan 21st 2020 at 4:25:44 AM
We have no policy for this; it can go in any order that makes sense.
Then Characters.Zoobles should be cut as well. The existence of worse pages doesn't give pages below the wiki's standards a pass.
Anything that's getting cut should have any valid examples moved over to the main page first, of course.
Right. I feel that any characters page where only 25% or less of it is complete and accurate should be cut.

From the little I saw before clicking out (don't want to be spoiled on source work), there's nothing worth saving.
