Cleanup thread: Magnificent Bastard

Go To

During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.

Specific issues include:

  • Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
  • A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
  • Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
  • Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
  • Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.

It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.

Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:

     Previous post
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.

  • Why do a cleanup?: This trope definitely exists and has a well documented history of use. That being said, it frequently gets misused to a character who meets one of the components, namely that they are smart, charming while not necessarily even being a villain, or create good plans. While these are components, there is also a certain personality required, not to mention that all of the above are required to be present for a character to be a true Magnificent Bastard. As the trope attracts interest, it unfortunately brings in a lot of misuse and I thought the best way to rectify this would be a Perpetual Cleanup Thread, as is being done and has seen success with Complete Monster.

  • What makes a Magnificent Bastard: Below is a list of the individual components to make this character. Note that they must all be present, not just some, which has lead to frequent misuse:
    • Must be intelligent: Goes without saying, to be a Magnificent Bastard, the character has to be smart in the first place and use their brain to work towards whatever their end goal may be;
    • Must be a Bastard: While going overboard in how vile the character is can be detrimental, a key aspect is the Bastard part of the trope, whether the character is an out-and-out antagonist in the work, some manner of Villain Protagonist, or something in between, they at least have some unscrupulous qualities to qualify for this trope;
    • Must not be too detestable: Again, there is a ceiling on how bad the character can be before they just become too nefarious, blocking out the Magnificent part of the trope. A genocidal racist or child-raping Sadist aren't going to make the cut;
    • Think on their feet: In addition to being a Chessmaster, a Magnificent Bastard, if the character deals with situations in which their initial plan is ruined, has to be able to pull a Xanatos Speed Chess and at least come up with a competent strategy to make up for lost time, otherwise they fail for being unable to think in tough spots;
    • Have charm: Even if they don't necessarily make every character they meet fall in love with them and can even be detested by others, the audience has to find an amicable social relation to the character, or they are failing to make the impact required for this trope.

  • What to do if a character is listed on a page but has not been approved?: They need to be removed, all candidates need to come through the cleanup thread first. The character could well count but they need to be analyzed properly and voted on first.

  • Do we list Playing With this trope?: No; as a YMMV trope, this cannot be Played With, so we only want examples that are Played Straight.

  • What do I do if I want a character to be listed as a Magnificent Bastard?: The greatest success Complete Monster saw for its cleanup effort was from the invention of the effort post format, so, borrowing from that, a troper wishing to propose a Magnificent Bastard will create such a post in the following format:
    • Begin by describing The work, this will help establish the setting the character is in and for the reader to understand what kind of a scenario they are in;
    • Summarize The character's actions, this will provide a listing for readers to understand what they do and how it applies to this trope because charm and lack of smugness are so crucial, this is a good time to be incorporating exactly the flavor of how they operate to explain this;
    • List circumstances in which the character must Think on their feet, these are times where a wrench might be thrown in their initial plan and they have to adapt on the spot or even come up with a new scheme all together, this is also a good time to explain how the villain reacts to defeat when they have to face it, a true Magnificent Bastard won't break down into tears at the thought of death, they should have known such a possibility could occur and be able to handle it with more dignity;
    • The competition, similar to the Heinous Standard dealt with for a Complete Monster, this section is to deal with how successful the character is in carrying out their plans compared to other characters. While, as a villain, they probably are going to lose in the end, it is good to explain how other characters handle the same situation. There is no exceptionalism case to be made for this trope but explaining the variety helps the reader have a better understanding of the proposal.

  • How do you know when the character's arc is done so they can be proposed? When their tenure as a villain or antagonist finishes. This could happen in a single Story Arc in an entire work, a single work of a franchise, or the whole series in general. We'll show lenience to Long-Runners with constantly recurring candidates or series with outstanding continuities (ex. comic books), and it's entirely possible to count in a work or two but not in general for a reason like Depending on the Writer.

  • What about candidates evil because of external sources? Those Made of Evil can qualify if they show enough individuality and tactical acumen — in other words, they have the personality to fulfill the magnificence requirement. Conversely, those brainwashed, especially if they're a better person without it, may fail the individuality aspect and cannot count.

  • What if they are under orders from a higher-up? Depends. If the boss created the plans down to the letter and the candidate is just following them, sounds like we should discuss the boss instead. However, if the candidate takes creative liberties with the orders, adds their own charm and flair to them, fills in holes in the orders, and/or actively deals with obstacles their boss did not talk about, the candidate shows enough individual thinking to qualify.

  • What about Character Development? An MB is something a character can develop into... a nice person who plots well might become more morally gray as the work goes on and hits the "Bastard" criteria, thus making them viable. Likewise, a Smug Snake might shed their ego, become more understanding of the threat others pose and gain the personality or "Magnificent" criteria, likewise making them viable. Conversely, a character who looks like this trope might suffer from a Sanity Slippage or just get outed as not being as smart as they thought they were and become incompatible with MB.

  • Can an MB be a good guy? Not in the conventional sense... it is required they have at least some dubious traits lest they fail the "Bastard" criteria. That being said, a character who pulls a Heel–Face Turn or eventually stops taking villainous actions is still fair game: as there was a point in time where they were both "Magnificent" and a "Bastard" at the same time and they've merely adapted as time goes on. Now... if such a character begins showing other issues (i.e.: becomes prone to freak outs or starts getting outwitted) then they're compromising their Magnificence and will probably be deemed a cut. What's important is stylishly operating while at least for some time being willing to take at best underhanded methods to see a job done. A Heel–Face Turn in itself isn't a disqualifier but they do have to have been "Magnificent" and a "Bastard" at the same time and afterwards can't start slipping on the former front.

  • What about characters whose stories can take different routes?: When proposing a character in a form of media that has them in multiple story routes. Said character must be consistent with their characteristics in all routes. (ex.: Can't have an example who shows promise on one route yet fails in another.) The only exception is if a later installment of the series confirms the character's actions which made them worth proposing are the canon route.

  • Is there a timeframe rule like with Complete Monster?: Yes, please wait two weeks until after the work has concluded before proposing a character (again, usually using the North American air date). As is the case with CM, we want to give a reasonable time frame so that everyone interested in seeing the work has done so and can participate in the discussion without having anything spoiled.

  • What about groups like with Complete Monster?: This is a point of divergence between the two tropes. While CM does not allow for a single entry encompassing more than three characters lest their heinousness for crimes becomes too watered down, with MB as long as they are treated as one "unit" it is acceptable to lump all characters provided they share acts of charm and intelligence.

  • Can I propose my own work's character as a Magnificent Bastard?: No, this is a YMMV subject and the creator of a content is way too biased to be able to evaluate the criteria we're looking for without a second opinion taking over. That being said, you are more than welcome to encourage someone to consume your creation and if they feel a character counts, are more than welcome to suggest them.

Thread rules

When voting a troper must specify the effort post they're voting on and cannot merely vote on "Everything I missed" as in the past it has indicated the poster didn't read the effort post and is guessing instead of analyzing.

Resolved items

In general, a character listed on this trope is considered "settled". This means they should not be challenged unless information used to list them was incorrect or information was missed in the initial discussion.

However, when re-litigating a candidate, the same rules apply for when they were originally proposed. If they do not have five or more upvotes than downvotes for approval upon a re-litigation, including votes from the initial discussion if they do not change, then they are a cut.

This especially applies to the characters listed below, who have been discussed excessively and repeated attempts to get them listed/cut may result in punitive action for bogging down the thread.

Definitely an MB

Definitely not an MB

  • South Park: The show's frequent use of vulgar comedy and mean-spirited humor leaves any potential candidates devoid of the dignity or charm to qualify.

It's been several hours since I posted the Siren so here's my last ep of the day.

A while ago you said when I did 2,000 words or over it should be for characters who appear in multiple seasons of long-running works, and Catwoman qualifies there.

What does Catwoman do?'

Her debut two-parter shows her disarming a museum guar with a whip and drugging him with her cats scratchingg him while the claws are seemingly dipped in sedative. She steals at statue that acts as a clue to pirate treasure willed to the city and sends a message falsely implying she wants to rob a collection with the statue's twin is in to divert the cops and Batman (although they do steal the twin form another location). She whispered near one of her men when he questions her orders. She traps Batman and Robin in a maze with traps like spikes, a tiger, and a bomb, but the bob is a dud which hs a bubble with the word "meow" pop out and she gives them lots of chances. She double-crosses and knocks out her remaining goon in the climax, then seemingly falls to her death when she won't let go of the toto while hanging form a cliff. She survives and resurfaces, though.

In the between seasons, movie, she helps kidnap Bruce Wayne and tries to learn more about Batman all while posing as a Russian journalist. She odes trip and knock herself out running but also does a lot of planning to abduct the U.N. leaders and hold them for ransom after gassing their guards and pushes batman and Robin off a oat and into the water during the climax.

In her first season 2 appearance she has cat burglars audition for her burglar school by stealing, and the ones who aren't caught are admitted to her gang and stealing cat-themed cheap stuff they parachute out of windows. A reporter who is supposed to plant a story to trap her is working with her, so her gang ambushes Batman and Robin, paralyze them with darts and knock them out the window. They survive due to a pre-arranged safety net. They track her down agin and are caught and put in a trap to boil the but escape. Then she kidnaps and impersonates an old woman abotu to spend a quarter of a million dollars buying two violins. She has a Nic conversation with the guard escorting her to the meeting and gives him som of the money as a tip. She tries to steal the violins and keep the money but Robin surprises her. However, her goons are hiding in the room and appear behind Robin. They have a pocket inside to flee otuthe window in in case the building is surrounded but Batman tries to keep them from using it. She whacks Robin on the head once in the fight and tries to flee out the window with the loot. She is corned and gives up, and is greatful when Batman saves her from falling. This is when her attraction to him really picks up and she considers reforming.

When she next returns, she claims to be reformed and leader but has a device to steal voices and tests it on a talk show host while leaving clues to make the heroes go after Penguin or the Riddler. She steals Gordon's voice and inflates Wayne Manor disguised as a dance instructor to steal and ransom the voices of two arriving rock stars. She's allergic to some flowers though and sneezes off her disguise. Batman and Robin go to the dance studio and are captured. Catwoman contemplates setting up Robin with her female minion to make him and Batman malleable to defecting but decides against it and puts them in a deathtrap. They escape but she steals the singers voices and barges into a TV studio to make her ransom demand. She admits to owing Batman hr life and loving the sound of hsi voice when he arrests her and can't bring herself to kill him or take his voice when he finally corners her.

In "The Sandman Cometh/ The Catwoman Goeth" she's allied with European crook the Sandman and appear less frequently. She quickly grows suspicious of a crony leaving on a mndihgt errand, follows her, and catches her making a call to the cops and identifying herself as Policewoman Mooney. Catwoman catches her. She and Sandman both plot to betray each other andCatwoman picks up on how he says things like "I'll have," not "we have." She seems bothered when a brainwashed Robin says he killed Batman for Sandman. She forces Robin and Mooney into a dangerous maze. When Catwoman gets confirmation she's being betrayed, she admits where Robin and Mooney are and gives Batman information on Sandman then tries to flee but its arrested by he cops. She also flirts a lot with him.

In her next two parter, she has her own young female apprentice, Pussycat to try and imitate the Batman and Robin dynamic. She has Pussycat flirt with Robin and then use a mind control potion with which she scratches him with a cat claw with to turn Robin evil and bring him to their side. Her gang breaks into Wayne Manor, accompanied by Robin. They blow the safe to steal a bunch of valuables. She brags about her plan to put back in the same condition. Add verifying out, she shows some annoyance and Pussycat maintaining her music ambitions and singing for the rest of the gang in a The Cast Showoff scene. She says Pussycat can’t do both and did voluntarily join her before but does consent to letting the music show. She says no one should get more applause than Catwoman when the others clap but does admit the song was nice despite earlier saying she wouldn’t listen to it. She’s stealing a million in small bills to buy the blupeinrts or the city mint She points out that as a 12 time loser he will face the same prison since whatever she's caught doing for her next crime, she might as well think big. Rob lots of rich locals for their money. She captures Batman and puts him in a death trump which would kill him immediately as they all stand by. Offering him the choice between voluntarily taking the substance that will turn him evil, or being killed by the newly amoral labin. Batman agrees, but tricks Catwoman into letting him take a supposed dietary pill which turns out to be an antidote, allowing him to fake under her spell. When Robin and Pussycat are captured, she has Batman take her to the bat cave to continue planning but he keeps her from learning the location. They raid the mint But Batman reveals his ruse. Catwoman nearly escapes, But after a car and foot chase seemingly forced to her death in the ocean, making Batman cry. She does return later, though.

Her next two parter has her being released from prison on parole and promising to reform under the supervision of Bruce Wayne. She enrolls in college, and recruits a new gang. They steal a bad man statue to model the dimensions for a Batman suit their of their own that the gang is making. Turn the statues so the theft will look like a simple prank, then use the new costume to commit robberies. A new caulk who doesn't know the lay of the land arrest Batman as the suspected thief. Catwoman finds this amusing. Catwoman organizes a student protest to provide cover for her next scheme. Batman and Robin end up in another death trapped trying to stop her And she intends to have them spurned by boiling liquid in view of the student protesters. Very escape, the Catwoman has stolen a pair of cat's eye opal's hearing to her annoyance the fences she goes to think they're cursed and won't buy them. She eventually agrees to a less advantageous deal than she wanted and, admitting it's fair under the circumstances. It turns out Batman was planning ahead though comment had replaced the gems with thinks before she ever captured him. Unsuccessfully tries to seduce into her side, and when that fails to kill him again. She sounds sad and Morse after beat and telling Batman they're doomed to travel in different directions. She also tells the disillusioned prison warden not to blame himself for her failure to reform.

In season three she's played by a new performer has undergone an uncommented on Race Liftmand continues with the same kind of capers as before in her three appearances (one a two-parter). Those episodes alone wouldn’t make her either an obvious candidate or obviously disqualified but the second is better and has a Joker team up. She pretends to kidnap joker, who initially acts reformed. She uses a telescopic lens to spy on Gordon's office And shoots a message from the window. She guesses that Batman will come back to the hotel room she shooting from bye tracing the angle of the shot And leaves behind some clues to mislead him. She can't laments and praises to goons she brings into her team up with Joker. See the sun signs to find and steal a last cash gunpowder to use In a heist instead of ordinary dynamite just for the sake of being stylish. They steal clues, sabotage band girls motorcycle hiding outside the scene of 1 crime, then kidnap Batgirl And tie her in some twine Catwoman printed which tightens with body heat. Joker ask why didn't it attack for me if it heroes, and Catwoman says that the odds were to stacked against just the two of them and two henchmen. Batgirl escapes, though. Catwoman arranges for a crooked lawyer to represent her and joker, while personally arranging for the jury to be flooded with criminals. This almost gets the crooks acquitted before Batman sees through the trick when one crooks phony mustache is off. She gets grabbed by the cops and kept out of most of he ensuring final fight. With Batman ask when she'll ever learn that she can't outwit the law, she merely replies that one time she may succeed in her efforts.

In the two ambiguously canon animated sequel movies, she teams up for old colleagues Riddler, joker, Penguin to steal a device which can open parallel universes. She scratch is Batman with a chemical to try and turn him evil, something similar to a gimmick from this show. Instead it makes him a Knight Templar. Quartz betray her, but she escapes during the confusion of a fight where Batman is particularly ruthless to them. She later allies with Robin to stop Batman from becoming a dictator, and together they break all of that second league super criminals out of the state penitentiary (using a kind of ball and chains that make them float out) to fight Batman and his new army of evil clones with. Helps the heroes catch joker, Penguin, Riddler after Batman is restored to normal and they realized that the other free super villains engineered the whole theme. She then tries to escape with all of the paintings that they stole during the distraction of the evil batman's rampage. When Batman stops her she's seemingly she uses to fall into a smokestack to her death. Like in the show, this is in the end and she returns in the next movie, ‘’Batman vs. Two-Face’’, in prison and getting regular visits from Batman, who's while seeming ready to reform and be with him. When he misses one of their dates, she knocks out her lawyer who during a visit, dresses the lawyer in her costume and in his scapes. It is slightly implied that the lawyer may become Catwoman herself, and that it isn't the same Catwoman and all of her appearances in this show and at the time in 60s movie, but this is a bit of retroactive continuity. catwoman attends an auction where batman is being held prisoner and his identity is being auctioned off but decides to rescue him instead and help fight the villains. At the end of the movie, she attends a bachelor auction to bid on Batman, seemingly reformed for good.

Magnificent

There are several times for shishou standards and the regrets wanting to hurt to Batman, or trying per hunter schemes. If the movies are Keenan, Shelton who does reform. A lot of her schemes are genuinely clever and mislead Batman for a while. She's really unpleasant to some of her henchman but is oddly pleasant to other ones she occasionally makes an effort to end up finding back rather than submitting to arrest, unlike most of the female villains from the show with its Would Not Hit a Girl values. She escapes justice by faking her own death a few times, when hardly any villains in the show get away.

Bitch

She tries to kill the heroes regularly. She's a thief and a double crosser she doesn't like sharing on many occasions. She can be vain and pretty ruthless to her henchman when they irritate her (the main reason I initially passed her over) but only ever tries to betray them in one episode. She helps kidnap Bruce Wayne and has no remorse about that toying with his infections in the movie. the live action movie has her essentially trying to take over the world.

Alrighty, second Killer7 candidate.

Who is He?

"I feel my blood rushing through my body once more. Yes, this is it. This feeling is coming back to me! The sensation of killing. The doom and darkness. The dark streets, they're calling me... calling me to the ultimate ring!"

Dan Smith, “The Hellion,” is the slickest, coolest member of the killer7, as well as one of the most sociopathic.

What does he do?

Originally the student of twisted killer Curtis Blackburn, who killed him after fellow assassin Shigeki "Badman" Birkin sold him out, Dan revived, only to be encountered by Emir Parkreiner, who also killed him.

But once Dan was resurrected again by Harman Smith as a member of the killer7, that’s when he became cooler. Now a smooth-talking, snarky badass who takes great pride in killing Heaven Smiles, Dan also gets the most screen time compared to the other members of the killer7, behind only Garcian and Harman.

In one of his most triumphant moments, Dan encounters Curtis and, through a tricky duel involving the timing of a dove taking off, is able to defeat him, killing him with his own machine that he used to cleanse little girls of their organs. Later killing Handsome Black despite earlier dropping his revolver, Dan later faces off against Handsome Blue in a duel on Broadway, NY and easily takes him out. But, Dan’s eventually killed once again in Colburn Elementary by one of Greg Nightmare’s indestructible Seven Black Smiles, but not without putting up a good fight.

But you can’t keep a good man (or literal split personality) down, because despite everything, Dan resurrects once more to become the instigator for Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes.

Seeking payback against Badman for selling him out to Curtis, Dan’s able to track him down in a secret hotel room using nothing but his keen sense of smell. After Badman reveals he sold him out to Curtis to get information on Travis Touchdown’s whereabouts (since Travis killed his daughter, Badgirl), Dan has his associate Christopher Mills track down Travis’s hideout in Texas for him.

So Dan makes a deal Badman over the phone: kill Travis and bring his daughter Badgirl back to life, or he’ll die. Barging into the confused Badman’s room, Dan hands him a Death Ball, which can help bring Badgirl back to life, and gives him the orders to kill Travis Touchdown before departing. And while Travis doesn’t die, Badman’s able to collect the remaining Death Balls and resurrect Badgirl.

Is he charming? Intelligent? Able to think on his feet?

Dan represents the ego of the killer7, displaying a sense of dry wit, skill in weapons, and charisma this side of Spike Spiegel, killing his targets with ease.

But through his cutscene in TSA, Dan also displays keen intellect, able to track down Badman and Travis with ease, while still showing his dark sense of humor as he closes in on his terrified target.

Is he a bastard? Too much of one?

Dan relishes in the killing of Heaven Smiles and his targets, as seen in his quote above. There’s a reason why the team's associate Iwazaru calls him “The Hellion.” Plus, he used to be a criminal, working for Curtis in his organ harvesting operation.

But after he’s revived by Harman, Dan starts showing a bit of a soft spot, fighting against Heaven Smile and detesting the fact that Curtis rapes little girls before harvesting their organs (he never took part in the rapes). He even gets some little moments as well, like when he tosses some extra change to a guitar player in Italy.

Verdict?

Keep. There's a reason why Dan's one of Suda's most popular characters.

  • Batman (1966)
    • "The Puzzles are coming /The Duo is Slumming": The Puzzler is an aviation-obsessed criminal who loves quoting Shakespeare and dares the heroes to catch him with clues derived from the bard's plays. He convinces a wealthy tycoon that he has a legitimate business proposition to rob the man. His endgame is to steal an experimental military plane and then ransom it back to its builder even though a foreign power would pay more, because "I may be an arch-villain, but I am a one hundred percent naturalized American arch-villain!" After being captured, he takes complete responsibility for his plan's failure and respectfully salutes Batman for the depth of his Shakespeare knowledge.

Yes to Siren, Catwoman, Dan, Puzzler and switching to a yes on Julie. I feel like just because the Heroes find her out doesn't mean she doesn't count. Most MBs don't win after all. I can think of like two MB that win: David Xanatos and someone else and that's if we push the definition of winning. I think most of the ones that technically "win" are anti Heroes.

Yes to Catwoman and Dan Smith.

I've been away from home for the past few days so I'm just now getting to the Cuphead write up, and I've also decided not to bother with the other candidate I had considered from DLC. Also, I thought Dood had a group from there planned to ep, but it's been like a week since the two week mark. I can do the EP if he's busy with other things.

  • Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course: Chef Saltbaker is first introduced as a kind and jovial baker seeking to create the Wondertart to bring Ms. Chalice back to life, but in truth has his own devious ambitions. Manipulating Cuphead and Mugman under false pretenses to gather the ingredients for the Wondertart, Saltbaker intended to bake one of their souls into it and use the power to become a god. In a titanic battle, Saltbaker creatively uses the Wondertart's ingredients as weapons against the brothers and later morphs the very salt of his being into deadly traps against them while attacking them with his empowered heart. While he is ultimately defeated and arrested, he fights to the bitter end and comes to genuinely enjoy his once humiliating community service. Ultimately embracing redemption, Chef Saltbaker proves a memorable final antagonist for the saga.

Next up from Power Rangers Time Force

Who is Steelix?

This one is from Time Force Traitor. Steelix is a steel-themed Mutant who used to work for Time Force and was Pink Ranger Jem's partner. Steelix was dirty though and was secretly selling secrets to Time Force's archfoe Ransik. Steelix was arrested by Jem and swore revenge against Jem for imprisoning him in the Cryoprison.

He's freed in the present, and stalks Jen to learn of her whereabouts. Eventually he ambushes her in an alley and steals her morpher. She gets away from him barely but he sends a message that he wants to meet in public. Well the rangers are on stakeout, Steelix sends a message to her by using a voice clip to draw her attention and get her to the abandoned warehouse district.

Anyway they fight and trade blows pretty evenly, her kicking his blaster away and grabbing him by the arm but he than uses it to grab her and trips her. They continue and he pivots using the wall to kick her multiple times. She gets her morpher back and they trade attacks. He asks if she wants to be Partner's again before teleporting out if range when she leaps for him. He captures her and uses a mind control spray on her (this made more sense in the Sentai) to have her turn against the rangers. Which is helped by them arriving at the right time so he makes his escape well letting them deal with her.

Wes stays to help her well the others struggle against him who's able to smartly counter every move they have. He has them on the ropes till Wes gets Jem to be cured through the power of love I guess.

Like even when the Rangers arrive, he sends Cyclobots to handle them and is able to still fight Jem pretty evenly with his blaster even taking her down and responding with a comment of "What a Pity". Anyway in the smoke, Jem uh flies (?) into the air and uses the distraction to hit him. But he's not done just yet and grows with a pun.

  • Jem: Let's go Steelix
  • Steelix: Did you say Grow?

Anyway well Giant he shoots down their attacks one by one even blasting them back. Till they overwhelm him and send him back to Cryoprison.

Magnificent?

His voice is smooth and cool sounding and he carries a decent amount of dry wit in speaking. He's got this really cool presence and snarky attitude. He basically fooled Time Force we'll stealing their secrets.

He's also one of the best fighters of the Mutants, able to think off new strategies on the dime in battle and counter anything.

Plus knows how to stalk and trap his opponents cleverly like Jem. And organise to have her take out the others. Pretty cunning i'd say so.

He also doesn't really suffer a major VB. Just going with a This Cannot Be!.

Bastard?

Well I mean Steelix wants revenge against Jem but well he doesn't really do anything bad for this show. No targeting of civilians or tbh anything even that bad to her besides you know sending her against Wes. Like their are plenty of way more sadistic and vile Mutants and who aren't nearly this cool. Plus you know PG 7 show. I don't think it overshadow his coolness since he also doesn't even do anything majorly bad.

Conclusion?

Also his episode if someone wants to check

Unrelated note. But uh his sentai Adel counterpart wouldn't keep for issues. This plot their was Adel is a creep who has a Yandere crush on Jem's counterpart.
