I know, but is it reasonable to say that it shouldn't be a Main/ with "Disambig" pagetype and propose moving to JustForFun/TropeGrid like similar pages?

Making a TRS thread for moving it out of Main/ would be fine. And Disambig is the wrong page type because it's not a disambiguation page, so I changed it to Fun.

This isn't a pressing issue but I feel like asking. So ~Tropers/costanton11 is queued up for BLAM with the old BLAM wick check. Find. But despite having the "can launch without me" tag, they have no OP written for it.

If an entry gives permission to launch without providing an OP, I feel like it's safe to write your own OP based on the wick check's findings if you feel up to it. The thread for Tri-County Area previously gave permission to launch without having a prewritten OP listed, so I improvised and the thread's proposer was fine with it, and provided further input regarding their original idea.

Plus costanton may be writing one at a later time too. We’ve still got a ways to go after all.

I know it's a ways away though experience tells me that if someone doesn't prepare in advance they don't often go back and finish later. So it's why I decided to ask now, before it potentially becomes a problem.

Also as one of the people who did the wick check and then had no solutions in mind, I feel like I have to ask if they have a plan at all. An OP would explain.

I admit, I haven’t had much experience with creating TRS threads, so I didn’t feel confident writing an OP. However, what was written on the wick check, which is an edited version of what I originally wrote when adding the trope to the “Needs TRS” sandbox sums up the issue I noticed pretty well.

“Big-Lipped Alligator Moment has three rules: it needs to appear unexpectedly with no forewarning, not make sense in context, and have no impact on the story. However, some examples break one or more of these rules, usually the "doesn't make sense in context" one.”

I guess the issue is whether or not the exact definition is common enough to trope.

I was going to suggest a disambig myself, without looking at the trope at least — IIRC the trope was literally created solely because someone wanted to tropeify the NC joke.

I mean, since the solution isn't really clear, we might want to discuss ideas at Trope Talk first. Then we can help you think of ideas to mention in your post.

I haven't looked into Big-Lipped Alligator Moment enough to see if it was created solely to make a page based on a Nostalgia Critic joke, but that's exactly why Frying The Coke was made and later cut. Unless you meant that BLAM is more clearly defined than Frying The Coke was and is just Too Rare to Trope.

Will a wick check be needed for Stupid Statement Dance Mix? It's a variant of Memetic Mutation that is somehow not YMMV.

If not, I'll queue it up.

It's supposedly a subtrope of Instant Humiliation: Just Add YouTube!, which is not YMMV; so I'll say a wick check might be needed to show if it's used as in-universe only, or as an audience reaction.

I might work on Dan Browned in the near future, but I might take a break from TRS work (or at least slow it down) because I'm sick again. (I'm seeing a doctor about it tomorrow.)

Mmmm, now that I just finished my Jerk To Nice Wick Check and made an OP in my sandbox, I'm wondering if I want to do a last-minute change on the queue and swap my You Got Spunk! thread (which is basically the top of the queue right now) with my Jerk-to-Nice-Guy Plot thread. I care about the Jerk-to-Nice-Guy Plot issue more but that might be because I just came off of the wick check and OP stuff, and not that it's a more pressing issue (even though it might be).

IDK. Thoughts?

I don't have a preference but if you feel more strongly about doing Jerk-to-Nice-Guy Plot then I'd do that thread.

I lean toward Jerk-to-Nice-Guy Plot's thread being before You Got Spunk!'s.

They are, I just wasn't sure if I wanted to do it or not.

Side note about Jerk-to-Nice-Guy Plot: I discovered that the original sponsor, Pistols At Dawn, was a ban evader to begin with.

So basically it's a rogue-launched draft that was originally sponsored by a ban evader.

I mean, according to Edit Banned both accounts were in use at the same time and they were actually pretty open about it, lol, but I guess rule wise it doesn't matter.

Either way, this is stuff to address later.
