Eh, even new pages with an influx of edits don't get maintained until someone steps in, like I did for Encanto and The Batman (2022). Someone has to be the first one to do it, and most casual editors don't really seem to give a shit.

I know Hoenn Wars has a couple, I don't know if I commented out them all but there's something

I just commented out a SLEW of ZCE on Hellcats. Out of the 8-9 characters listed, only 4 have a viable trope example and it's one a piece. I don't know the show so if no one can add more details, I'm going to move the two examples over to the main page and send it to the Cut List

I just checked that a there were a lot of ZCE in Never Heard That One Before Webcomics folder that only said "This happened" and just had a link... Which in many cases no longer worked, so I hid a lot in that folder.

Had to comment out a fuckton of "character from work, end of sentence" examples on Creepy Shadowed Undereyes... appearance tropes make us sad 😔

At most I've found only one solid example.

Webcomic.Nil Points is sorta dead? But it existed, so move to Darth, I guess?

Not like we can confirm anything about it without pictures, which weren't archived?

[up] Yeah, if there are three good examples. If not, go ahead with cut listing.

Cut the ones that had literally no context. The character ZCE-s can likely be repaired with info from Cast page.

Also too tired to trawl imageless comic pages for Schedule Slip. Unless this from the about page counts that I'll use:

There's no set update schedule right now, but there should be a new page every few days if nothing bad happens to me. Like a goblin attack, or getting food poisoning.

Cringe Comedy has a lot of ZC Es, mostly of the "work: this happens" variety.

Commented out some ZCE in World of Pun, but it turned out to be a bigger job than I immediately have time for. The big issue is entries that say the work has a lot of puns, but gives no examples of what those puns are.

I think Flagship Franchise needs to be looked into with regards to ZCE's. I can expand some entries myself, but others (such as the Anime and Manga, Literature, Comic Books, etc, I am not familiar with. Also, in many cases, Entries are just lists of "Most popular works of era", which may not even be franchises.

[up] I think that trope needs TRS because the description is quite unclear.

Weren't you the one who started the wick check? I can see if I can assist when I have time.

Commented out bunch of stuff on Manga.Chotto Edo Made and now... can the page be saved?

Also check out the YMMV subpage, the last edit was a decade ago

EDIT: Aaaaand this one. Manga.Cute Idiotic Couple

There's even a misplaced YMMV item on the front page. A Take That, Scrappy! entry which says it's satisfying seeing someone getting stabbed multiple times in the head. (WHAT)

Real quick, from Webcomic.Grrl Power:

  • Background Magic Field: One gets established as a physical law of the universe that fuels all magic. Deus elaborates it in a physics model of overlapping quantum fields that for magic is specifically called Thaumion.

Is this enough context for this trope? ~Dvandemon added the original version (a standard "this trope happens" ZCE), we hid it, they expanded it to this. It still looks like a ZCE to us, but we're not gonna re-hide it without getting a second opinion.

(Hi Dvan, please read the complete page on this wiki's context rules; "You can read the comic to find out instead of hiding wicks" is not an acceptable excuse.)

I was in the process of crosswicking a trope I launched, and I noticed that Transformers Victory has too many ZCE of the "Is this" kind.

I commented out a bunch on The Ashleys and taken both of its subpages to the cutlist because almost every single example on them has low context.

Hi, I'm hoping to learn how to do zero context examples better:

How would I go about fixing?

https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/TabletopGame/WaterdeepDragonHeist

  • Enemy Civil War: The Xanathar Thieves Guild and Manshoon's faction of the Zhentarim were initially allied in their attempts to find the Dragon's Hoard. However, due to the disappearance of the Stone of Golorr (which leads to the hoard), the two factions are now at war by the beginning of the module. Furthermore, the Doom Raiders adventuring band (a faction of the Zhentarim), reject Manshoon's leadership and are fighting him for control of Waterdeep's illicit trades.

Synchronity was very helpful but I'm curious how a corrected version would look. I'd like to how large a entry it should be.

Examples in the Enemy Civil War page:

  • Deconstructed in Marvel Comics' Earth X. Mephisto has deliberately created multiple universes full of lesser Devils, precisely so they will fight and plot against one another, creating chaos that spawns disasters while also obfuscating his own plans.

  • In The DCU, the mini-series Reign In Hell features a civil war for the control of Hell fought between the demon princes Neron and Lord Satanus.

Seem to be less than helpful.

[up] I'll admit I don't encounter the trope often, but the above entry is missing the part where the Xanathar Thieves Guild and Manshoon's faction of the Zhentarim are evil/the story's bad guys. What the trope needs is:

  • These 2+ factions are the bad guys
  • They're at war with each other

So...

  • The Xanathar Thieves Guild [who do x bad thing] and Manshoon's faction of the Zhentarim [who do x bad thing]...
  • The Xanathar Thieves Guild and Manshoon's faction of the Zhentarim [who once had a shared goal of committing genocide]...
  • The [villainous groups founded by really bad people, the] Xanathar Thieves Guild and Manshoon's faction of the Zhentarim...

The DC and Marvel examples you pointed out assume readers think Demons and Hell are baddies even without knowing the works. They tend to be baddies, but if you're strict about it, they lack the "enemy"/"evil" requirement of the trope.

I see.

Its a case of fandom myopia on my part because the Zhentarim are the main baddies of FR.

:)

Edit:

  • Enemy Civil War: Two of the antagonist factions of the module, the Xanathar Thieves Guild and Manshoon's faction of the Zhentarim, were initially allied in their attempts to find the Dragon's Hoard before the PCs. However, due to the disappearance of the Stone of Golorr (which leads to the hoard), the factions are now at war by the beginning of the module. Furthermore, the Doom Raiders adventuring band (a faction of the Zhentarim), reject Manshoon's leadership and are fighting him for control of Waterdeep's illicit trades.

I think that covers it.

Characters/Survivor is split into nearly four dozen pages, many of them filled with zero context examples. If there's any other Survivor fans here, it might be good to work on these a bit.
