WMG / Krypton

Go To

Eventually, a crazy wrench will be thrown into the show's plot, one that will fundamentally change everything the show is capable of being
And what will this twist be? Krypton doesn't get destroyed. Adam Strange will inadvertently (or intentionally) cause changes with his time travel and it will result in Seg-El preventing the planet's destruction. This will give the show free reign to do anything it wants and not have to develop the characters just to have to have them die.
  • Superman's baby rocket will still be launched, but Krypton will be trapped in another dimension like Gallifrey in post-revival Doctor Who and it's gone for all intents and purposes until they find a way to get out.
  • Confirmed! At the climax of 1x10, Seg is sucked into the Phantom Zone in the process of banishing Brainiac. As Val-El is trying to keep him from being sucked in, Superman's cape fully returns to a pristine state. But then, after the portal closes with Seg inside the Phantom Zone and Dru-Zod destroys the computer to stop Val-El from getting him out, the symbol on the cape changes to the ZOD family crest. Adam Strange finding a statue of Dru-Zod in a bottled Earth city in what is presumably the present is just icing on the cake.
    • Season 2 will have someone try to fix the timeline.

Some of the Kryptonians will visit Earth at some point
This will explain why Jor-El chose to send his son to that specific planet. They could also get in some Mythology Gags by showing, or at least mentioning, characters like the Waynes, Alan Scott, Jay Garrick, etc.
  • This could happen during Brainiac's invasion, when Val-El is proven correct that there is other life in the universe.
  • This would also tie-in the series to Smallville, where a young Jor-El actually chooses the Kent Family after meeting Jonathan's father.

The first alien race Krypton will encounter are the Thanagarians.
Word of God says Hawkgirl will also appear. She'll likely be a time-traveling Shayera Hol who's working with or is following Adam Strange back in time.
  • Additionally, Seg-El will encounter Kalmoran, the hero of Thanagar who led his people against the Polaran Empire.
  • Technically, Adam Strange, Brainiac and Lobo are "aliens" to Kryptonians. But if that means a 'massive encounter' with another alien race, then there's the series' end when Nyssa sees Winged Humanoids flying over her, so... confirmed?

Seg-El and Lyta-Zod's romance is doomed to failure.
Unless they plan to make Superman and Zod related in this adaptation, Seg-El and Lyta will fall out of love as Lyta becomes more like her mother and like Zod.
  • Seg breaks up with Lyta as soon as the pilot. That doesn't mean they can't reconcile at some point.
  • Lyta's mother might be killed in circumstances involving Seg, Black Zero and the rankless will led her to believing her mother is right and becomes like her.
    • With more revelation of Brainiac's abduction of Kandor, it's likely this will happen. And Lyta's failure to protect Kandor may have led to their failed relationship.
    • This is even more likely, now that Lyta fully supports Zod's new regime.
    • Jossed? That Lyta who was loyal to Zod was actually a clone, Seg and Lyta are together again by the end of Season 2. I really hope the show can get renewed elsewhere.

Additionally, Nimda An-Dor will appear.
She's Superman's grandmother in the Silver Age while she's hardly mentioned at all in most continuities. She may also undergo an Adaptational Name Change or become a full-on Canon Foreigner anyway. She turns out to be a childhood friend of Seg-El and her family were close friends with the House of El until Val-El's exile.
  • Jossed.
    • Except Nyssa-Vex (a Canon Foreigner) turned out to be Jor-El's mother all along.

Seg and Lyta will become Nightwing and Flamebird.
If they're going up against a threat as great as Braniac, they can't accomplish much as Badass Normals.
  • Alternately, Nyssa will become Flamebird, now that Lyta joins Zod's new regime in the season one finale. And Seg has got to escape from the Phantome Zone to ensure his grandson's existence.
  • Jossed.

Brainiac disguised himself as AI!Val-El, and possibly even Val-El himself
.This makes a disturbing amount of sense. Who else could navigate the Phantom Zone and return sane? Who else has the tools and resources to create a near-perfect AI in the middle of the apocalypse? Who else would want revenge on the House of El, but would also want to leave them alive so they can breed different incarnations of Superman to fuel his curiosity? And who else would be arrogant and skillfully intelligent enough to disguse themselves as Val-El, get themselves discredited so the House of El is stripped of their rank and fame, and guide the surviving family members to defeat him, so that he can test himself in a war against different El-led kryptonian death squads just so he can sate his curiosity? Why, BRAINIAC!!!
  • Jossed. He took control of the Voice of Rao, and Val-El returned to become a Big Good.

Superman will appear eventually.
Supergirl gave him sizable guest roles after dancing around the issue for a season. And it would be neat to have three incumbent live-action Supermen (from this, Supergirl and the DCEU), which would set a record (Superman Returns was made and released during seasons 5 and 6 of Smallville).

Superman will appear and he'll be Seg-El's Identical Grandson.
It helps explain how Adam Strange was able to identify Seg despite him not wearing the House El insignia. And Cameron Cuffe would probably be pumped, who wouldn't?

The series is set in the same universe as the recent Earth-2 comics.
The house of Zod and the House of El are connected in a positive way in both universe, the known members of House of Zod are black in both universes, and the second Superman in Earth-2 is a Zod with the same personal name (Val) as Superman's great great grandfather in Krypton.

Adam Strange is bisexual.
While "House of Zod" shows him checking a male Sagitari guard's ass, it's possible he still loves Rannian woman Alanna if they're not already married, as in the comics.
  • Confirmed as "Savage Night" hints at his failed romance with Alanna.

Nyssa will renounce the Vex name and family.
Because of her father and also having learned of her origins, Nyssa chooses to declare her son an El, and changes his name from Cor into Zor. (And there will come an offhand mention that one of her "sisters" who lives in the other city has a daughter named Car-Vex in that city's Genesis Chamber.)

General Zod gains possession of Brainiac's ship and technology.
With these, General Dru-Zod returns to Earth and is the one who bottles the Earth city that Adam Strange found himself in near the end of season one. Even though Dru-Zod has succeeded in erasing Superman out of existence, the city he chooses to bottle is Metropolis, simply as an act of total spite towards Kal-El.

Under Dru-Zod's leadership, Krypton will undergo a Face-Heel turn as a species. The speech about Krypton becoming an intergalactic empire seems to hint at this.

In the Alternate Timeline where Strange ended up in, Kal-El was a soldier for General Zod and that's why the cape changed.
Dru-Zod is not a man who would waste resources, especially potential ones- including a genius scientist and his son. Dru-Zod was able to find Nyssa, and have his half-brother Cor-Vex (or Jor-El), raised in his household. And then he would have his nephew be raised to be loyal to him as a soldier.

Jayna will renounce the Zod name and family.
She realize Lyta was right to question authority and their tradition, only to find her daughter beginning to embrace it. But on a brighter side, she's glad to learn that her brother is still alive, who also renounce their family tradition. However, Dru-Zod might kill them both for disgracing the family name. Even if Zod never traveled back in time, Jayna would have renounce the Zod name eventually, due to her brother talking some sense into her. This could be why Lyta never mentioned her mom or uncle to Zod while raising him in the original timeline, since they brought her shame.
  • Confirmed on the part where she renounce the family tradition. Zod may have been the one who branded Jayna a fugitive, for no other reason but likely to keep her away from the increasingly doubtful Lyta. Jossed on the part of her brother being alive. He was Jayna's hallucination.

Daron-Vex will be out of the picture for most of Season 2.
And will only return in the season finale. He'll explain what he's been up to, setting up the Story Arc for season 3.
  • Jossed, he gets killed in the season premiere, shot in the head by Lyta while Nyssa demanded answers from him.

Dru-Zod killed his own mother.
He left out the part where he strangled her out of shame and disgust for her weakness.

Brainiac's invasion (and other alien encounters) is the reason Krypton isolated themselves until its inevitable destruction.

Darox-Vex would return as a clone.
