The Roster for Super Brawl 2

Super Brawl is Adobe Flash-based Browser Fighting Game series. The first game was called Jingle Brawl, and released on December 26, 2009 (hence the title).

The premise is simple, 5note  Nicktoons characters star in a highly simplified combat system, with only a punch Three-Strike Combo, a kick, a jumping kick, and a single Special Attack for every character. There’s not much of a story to speak of, but it appears to be a fight for King Julien’s throne, since the Player Character is shown on it if you beat the tournament mode.

The game received several updates over the course of its life, each relating to the specific time period in which it was released. Super Brawl during the Super Bowl season, Super Brawl Summer at summertime, and finally Super Fall Brawl in the fall of 2010.

The Game Was Followed up by several sequels like:

  • Super Brawl 2
  • Super Brawl 3: Good vs. Evil
  • Super Brawl 4
  • Super Brawl World
  • Super Brawl Universe
  • Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, the first console game in the franchise.

Tropes

  • Art-Style Clash: The characters are pulled straight from their original series, leading to a mix of 2D and 3D characters fighting each other.
  • Christmas Episode: As the title of the first game suggests, Jingle Brawl was themed around and released during Christmas. However, the theming only really extents to the menus and the game lacks much in the way of holiday relations outside of that.
  • Chromosome Casting: Until Bessie’s appearance in Summer, the entire roster was male outside of background and Assist Characters.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness:
    • There are no Limit Breaks whatsoever, making this the only mainline entry not to include them.
    • SpongeBob has a completely unique design compared to his home series, and is presented as a Ryu parody, complete with the outfit and the moves. Later entries would make SpongeBob much closer to his depictions in other media while having his own moves.
    • Timmy is playable only as Cleft the Boy-Chin Wonder, later games (with the exception of 4) would make Timmy playable either as himself or with Cleft as a separate character.
    • Patrick wields a towel due to him being added in Summer, he’d be empty-handed in every appearance after 2.
  • Promoted to Playable: In the first game, Sandy, Skipper and Kyle all were background characters that appeared in stages while Chum Chum followed Fanboy around. In Super Brawl 2 they became playable
