"What, may I ask, is Nazz doing in your home?"

"Eddy! You don’t suppose this could be a... ...date!?"
Edd

Eddy's parents have gone out for the night, and leaves him all alone, at least for a few minutes until Nazz shows up at his house. Thinking that Nazz came over for a date, Eddy enlists his friends' help to prepare him for it. But what he doesn't know is that in reality, Eddy's parents hired her to babysit him.

To Sir With Ed provides examples of the following tropes:

  • Adults Are Useless: And how! Even if you never saw another episode of this show, you'd see how the adults are never watching the kids, to the point where they're apparently fine with leaving a kid home alone and getting him a babysitter the same age as him without telling him or even making dinner.
  • Bait-and-Switch: While Eddy is bathing, Nazz calls on him to see how he's doing. Then ominous footsteps are head making they're way to the bathroom, much to Eddy's fear and embarrassment. The door opens and in comes Ed holding a frozen chicken.
  • Bottle Episode: The entire episode, save for one brief scene near the beginning, takes place in and around Eddy's house.
  • Butt-Monkey: Poor, poor Eddy...
  • Cassandra Truth: After "Gogo Nazz Girl" appears at the door, Rolf believed that Jonny lied to him about knowing where Eddy's house was and takes away his recently earned badge. He regrets it when Nazz confirms that it was the right place.
  • Continuity Nod:
  • Downer Ending: After getting humiliated in front of his crush, Eddy gets his tongue stuck in his bedroom door, and Ed puts a diaper on it and calls Eddy a "baby" while the others share one more good laugh at the latter's expense. In the midst of their laughter, Eddy can be heard weakly demanding Ed to open the door, ending the episode.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: When all the kids laugh at Eddy for believing he was on a date with Nazz, Ed joins in! He doesn't seem to get what's so funny, though, and is only laughing because everyone else is already doing it.
  • Funny Background Event: While Eddy and Edd are arguing about Eddy taking a bath, Ed can be seen rummaging in the bathroom's medicine cabinet, throwing all of its contents over his shoulder.
  • Hand-or-Object Underwear: Eddy originally dons the hand variety upon crashing through the ceiling and catching a glance of all the uninvited guests in his living room.
  • Harmless Freezing: Ed when he clings to the chicken ice-sculpture. A few scenes later, he is seen wearing the detached head of the sculpture on his head.
  • Idiot Ball: Eddy doesn't get that he's being babysat by Nazz until the end when she tells him. Apparently, Edd didn't get the hint either and thought it was a date.
  • Improbable Age: Eddy's parents assigned Nazz to babysit Eddy, even though she's only a year or two older than him at most, if not the same age.
  • Jerkass Ball: Nazz is uncharacteristically jerkish in this episode. She never decides to tell Eddy that she's babysitting him in the first place and just enters his house. Later, she invites everyone inside in order to throw a party in a house that isn't hers. To top it off, Nazz bars Eddy from attending the party in his own house just because of an accident and sends him off to bed.
  • Karma Houdini: In an astonishing example of this trope, the absolute worst thing Eddy does is assume Nazz came over to his house for a date, rather than to babysit him, yet he's the only one who gets in trouble for anything when she sends him to bed early... while she's using Eddy's house to throw a party with the other kids. Even his friends seem to get away with destroying his personal belongings.
  • Misplaced Retribution: For some reason, Nazz holds Eddy responsible for all the chaos that happens, even though he was just taking a bath. Even moreso, he's the one that's rightfully miffed about everyone being in his house.
  • Never My Fault: After Nazz reveals she was babysitting Eddy, Edd makes a comment about how he'd be so embarrassed if he were in his shoes when it was him who gave Eddy the false idea that it was a date. Fortunately Eddy didn't forget about it and he rightfully tackles Edd for that one.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: Eddy rightfully beats up Edd for misleading him that led to him being embarrassed.
  • Not Me This Time: Eddy ends up getting punished for something Ed caused by accident.
  • "Oh, Crap!" Smile: Rolf does this when he realizes he still took away Jonny's navigation badge after initially thinking they had the wrong house.
  • Parental Neglect: Eddy's parents go out to dinner and leave him with a babysitter without telling him in advance.
  • Romantic Wingman: Both Double D and Ed try to be this when Eddy becomes too nervous to say or do anything while eating with Nazz.
  • Saw It in a Movie Once: Ed's attempt to suck the venom from Eddy's leg after believing him to have been bitten by a snake is based on this.
  • Tongue-Tied: Eddy ends up babbling like a doofus when he tries to compliment Nazz's macaroni.
