The main protagonist, Feng Lian Wan, gets Trapped in Another World after getting summoned by unknown powers while playing a VR game with a Brain/Computer Interface. With the help of a System based on the VR game, she must navigate the perils of a cultivation world where Might Makes Right and countless people feel feel oppressed by her very existence.

General Tropes

  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Feng Lian Wan's false friend, Sang Ran. On the surface, she is seemingly a kind and gentle girl. In truth, she is a treacherous, backstabbing sociopath.
  • Cain and Abel: Han Ying Zhong's family was massacred by a demon cultivator, and his brother was kidnapped by her. Han Ying Zhong joined a righteous sect, while his brother was forced into a demonic one. Nowadays, even if Han Ying Zhong's brother isn't exactly happy about what was done to him, he is also very eager to kill his brother and has crossed swords with him many times.
  • The Chosen One: While they refuse to divulge anything to her, Yan Mo Ge and Wen Ren Zui seem to think that Feng Lian Wan is the key to defeating the Heavenly Emperor.
  • Cross Player: Thanks to her mask item, Feng Lian Wan has two characters in one account. One of them is based on her true appearance, the other is a man named Yan Mo Ge. Yan Mo Ge is by far the more famous of her two characters, and countless women would undoubtedly be heartbroken if they knew the true identity behind the account. It does turn out that a real Yan Mo Ge actually does exist, and he had loaned Feng Lian Wan a way to borrow his power and appearance, without her understanding the truth.
  • Familiar: Feng Lian Wan has had three "pets" as defined by her System. One a spirit that can shape shift into any tool she knows about, one a Master of Illusion with Mind Reading powers, and one a gluttonous bird with Invisibility.
  • Feeling Oppressed by Their Existence: Most of Feng Lian Wan's adversaries hate her for the pettiest of reasons and seem to take offense at her very existence, going to absurd lengths to be rid of her.
    • Ci Ning hates her because her apprentice, Han Ying Zhong, went to the trouble of making up for accidentally harming an Innocent Bystander instead of just ignoring or finishing off what was at the time just a worthless mortal.
    • A lot of girls are jealous that Han Ying Zhong would show attention to her to the point that they setup multiple murder plots, just because they feel that she is not good enough for him.
    • Sang Ran hates her because Feng Lian Wan managed to obtain a number of things that she wanted, like the Nine Reincarnation Mirror and Elder Mu's apprenticeship.
  • For the Evulz: Sang Ran orders Han Ying Zhong, the last surviving Xuan Ji Sect member Feng Lian Wan respects at this point, to betray her by taking the lives of the sect elders hostage, all for no other reason than her own petty amusement.
  • Frame-Up: Sang Ran frames Feng Lian Wan with the murder of numerous fellow sect members. While the sect leader finds the circumstances suspicious, he considers Sang Ran more valuable than Feng Lian Wan and doesn't investigate very carefully. Meanwhile, Ci Ning, a sect elder with a ridiculously petty grudge against Feng Lian Wan, uses the chance to torture her. Feng Lian Wan is forced to flee as a fugitive before Ci Ning's followers can kill her.
  • Grand Theft Me: Feng Lian Wan encounters the ghost of an Old Master that died at sea. He is Too Desperate to Be Picky, so while he complains about Feng Lian Wan being a female with seven spirit roots, stealing her body is still better than being a ghost. It backfires, since even though her cultivation is lower, her willpower is considerably stronger. She proceeds to eat part of his soul, stealing his knowledge, before forcing the rest of him into the afterlife.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Feng Lian Wan's sect leader recognizes her potential, but never lifts a finger to help her out as numerous members of the sect bully her due to believing that Misery Builds Character. He isn't necessarily wrong, but it also means that when Feng Lian Wan is the victim of a Frame-Up and sentenced to death, she is too filled with resentment to forgive them when the truth is exposed, with the latest incident simply being the final straw out of many. After humiliating them, she leaves the sect for good, taking her talents and accomplishments with her.
  • Made a Slave: The Land of Heavenly Prayers is filled with a lot more qi than the continent the story starts in, making it far wealthier and more powerful. The Land of Heavenly Prayers allows the best of the best young prodigies in as immigrants. Not a single one of them has ever returned, and it is assumed that this is because they are reaping so many benefits from their new country that they have forgotten all about their home country. The real reason is because the sects of the Land of Heavenly Prayers enjoy the luxury of turning the imported big fish from the little pond into disposable slaves. Feng Lian Wan manages to avoid sharing the fate of her compatriots by joining a shabby sect with few members but deep roots, meaning they are too desperate for more people to enslave them while still holding just enough power to keep troublemakers at bay.
  • Master of All: Yan Mo Ge has all seven types of Elemental Powers and was the first to master the Dangerous Forbidden Technique known as the Secret of Chaos.
  • Master of None: Feng Lian Wan has all seven types of Elemental Powers, meaning she needs equal mastery in every one of them to increase her cultivation rank, whereas most people only need to master two or three. As a result, she can do more things, but lacks the raw power a person with the same amount of work and fewer elements would have. She works around it using a Dangerous Forbidden Technique called the Secret of Chaos, which can master all seven elements quickly, but with the risk of driving its user insane if they use it incorrectly.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: When the queen of a country forced a close friend of Yan Mo Ge to perform a Heroic Suicide, Yan Mo Ge killed the queen and annihilated her entire country in Tranquil Fury.
  • Rewarded as a Traitor Deserves: One of Feng Lian Wan's Familiars, Hai Dai, betrays her to Sang Ran due to murderous jealousy. As soon as the backstab is complete and Hai Dai outlives her usefulness, Sang Ran kills Hai Dai instead of accepting her as a familiar, because she can't trust a familiar that was willing to betray her previous master.
  • Ship Sinking: Feng Lian Wan gets close to several handsome and talented men. Every single one of them aside from Yan Mo Ge are too weak to stand up to Sang Ran and are forced to betray Feng Lian Wan due to the Hostage Situations said antagonist set up. Even if their betrayal was forced, Feng Lian Wan no longer has any positive feelings for them and becomes an official couple with Yan Mo Ge.
  • Spirit Cultivation Genre: This is a cultivation world, revolving around using Supernatural Martial Arts to achieve immortality.
  • Tsundere: Yan Mo Ge is verbally abusive, occasionally even up to the point of giving his companions death threats, but he also goes out of his way to help them out while making excuses and denying that he is doing so at all.
  • Uplifted Animal: If a completely ordinary animal is assisted in cultivation, they can become sapient. Such animals are known as demon cultuvators. However, unlike divine beasts, their sapience is entirely reliant on their cultivation, so they will revert to normal animals if their cultivation is destroyed.
  • Villainous Lineage: The Eastern Imperial clan is one of the strongest families in this world. Members can be identified by their cyan colored hair. They got this powerful by being a family of manipulative sociopaths, stealing from others while using tricks to maintain a good reputation. One of their past queens tried to steal Yan Mo Ge's secrets, caused Yan Mo Ge's best friend to perform a Heroic Suicide, and ended up being killed in Revenge. Sang Ran is the clan's current heir.
  • World's Strongest Man: The title is shared between Yan Mo Ge and his friendly rival, Wen Ren Zui. While they are the strongest in this world, there are also hints of one person stronger than even the two of them, the Heavenly Emperor, who is implied to be the final antagonist.
  • Yandere: Hai Dai was once assisted by Yan Mo Ge in the ancient past and stuck to him like glue. She was extremely hostile to his other companions, to the point that they mutually hated her. When Yan Mo Ge needed to spend the next ten thousand years in a death like state, he abandoned her. Hai Dai eventually ended up coerced into serving Feng Lian Wan as a Familiar. Upon learning that Feng Lian Wan was tied to Yan Mo Ge, she jealously betrayed Feng Lian Wan to Sang Ran.
