I want to be a Hero of Justice. That is my dream... I think.

Jaune Arc Story: Game of The Wizard is a The Gamer/RWBY crossover fanfic (also contains a lot of Fate/Stay Night elements and many more) by Mugen no Tenma. It starts pre-series, with a pinch or two of Alternate Universe Fic... well, nope, more like a clusterfuck of Alternate Universe Fic.

Being a student of Signal Academy in his graduation years, Jaune Arc starts seeing strange blue screens, titles and levels appear above people's heads, and weird things begin to happen to him, as if he was in a game... after meeting a man that looks so familiar in his eyes, for some reason. Then Jaune realizes he has become a Gamer, with all the RPG-Mechanics Verse shenanigans that involves. At first ecstatic about finally unlocking his Semblance, his life takes an unwanted turn when he accidentally gets himself involved with something bigger than he should deal with, along with the knowledge that his life would never be the same again. Annoyed and excited at this development, little does he know that this is far from the limit of the "fun" he will encounter…

This fanfic contains examples of:

  • Bedmate Reveal: The chapter "Sister, Friend, Yang (Part I)" has Jaune waking up to see Noire, his eldest sister, laying in front of him, having slept on his bed totally on purpose to tease (and seduce) him.
  • Berserk Button: Don't stab anyone in front of Jaune. Adam learned it the hard way.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Jaune as Hei Lang rescues Weiss from Grey's attack in "True and Fake (Part I)". Also when Blake is about to be finished off by Adam in "Rage Is Unbreakable", Jaune taps into his Unstoppable Rage to invoke this.
  • Big Bad: Salem. Makes her first appearance in "Interlude III: The Dark Cabal", discussing her future plans and schemes with her underlings.
  • Broken Record: Cang Long, after Jaune delivered quite a delicious counter attack and stole his "Mark of Grimmbane". "Disappear. You mongrel are an eyesore. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel. You mongrel!".
  • Cat Fight: Yang and Noire in the chapter "Sister, Friend, Yang (Part II)". Jaune totally had no idea what are they fighting over.
  • Circling Monologue: Cang Long gives one to Jaune in his disguise as Hei Lang in "The Fateful Night: Clash of Ideals".
  • Cool Mask: Jaune gets one in order to pretend to hide his identity. He got it after killing an Alpha Beowolf, a boss Grimm.
  • Dark Messiah: Cang Long is definitely one. Claims to be aiming to destroy all evils on Remnant, but who knows...
  • The Dreaded: Everyone who encounters him, or even catches a glimpse of his capability, including a skilled Atlas Specialist such as Winter Schnee and powerful Huntress such as Noire Arc, are very understandably wary of his incredible power. Jaune himself doesn't want to face him again after having a near-death experience in his fight against him.
  • Having a Blast: Jaune's Fist skill is definitely this, and can be combined with Megaton Punch, as demonstrated against Adam.
  • Healing Hands: Jaune's Withershins Restoration lets him do this.
  • Hellish Pupils: Cang Long and Hei Lang both has golden eyes with sharp-edged pupils.
  • Heroic BSoD: Occurs to Jaune as Hei Lang, after Cang Long stabbed Weiss with Black Keys. Fortunately, this turns out to be an illusion set up by Cang Long to break his spirit, so this doesn't stick too long.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: Being best friends and really close to each other, a lot of people considered Jaune and Hetero as this, with some of accusing them being Ho Yay towards each other. Both are really not amused.
  • Hyperspace Arsenal: Jaune with his seemingly bottomless Inventory.
  • Killing Intent: Cang Long temporarily paralyzed Jaune with this in "Unexpected Turn Of Events". Apparently, any full-fledged fighter can do that too.
  • Marshmallow Hell: Noire subjects Jaune to this in front of Yang and Hetero. Hilarity Ensues. Jaune apparently enjoyed that.
  • Not What It Looks Like: Jaune tries to say this when Yang and Hetero caught him in the middle of being stripped of his pajamas by Noire. That didn't work out very well.
  • No-Sell: All of Jaune's attempts to fight Cang Long ended up as minor annoyances at best, and ignored like nothing at worst.
  • Playing with Fire: One of Cang Long Servants have this as his ability. Yang's Semblance can also be considered this combined with Critical Status Buff.
  • Power Copying: One of Nous Anima's abilities is this. And the user apparently can use the copied power as effectively as the original user, if not more.
  • The Power of Hate: The semblance of Jaune's oldest sister, Noire, is focusing on this. Jaune learned it via Nous Anima.
  • Power-Upgrading Deformation: Activation of many powers partially or completely changes Jaune’s body. Most notably when he changes into Hei Lang, nobody could tell they are the same person.
  • Power Tattoo: The Mark of Grimmbane.
  • Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: Jaune as Hei Lang gives Adam one in the beginning of "A Very Much Needed Talk".
  • Red Baron: The Descendant of Grimmbane, The First Huntsman, The Grimm Slayer.
  • Rescue Hug: Weiss gives Jaune this after he protected her from an exploding car and on the verge of passing out. A Heartwarming moment that showed that Weiss does care about him.
  • Slashed Throat: Raven threatened Jaune as Hei Lang with this. Jaune is freaking out inside.
  • Unstoppable Rage: This is what makes Jaune deliver the Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs mentioned above to Adam. Apparently even Gamer's Mind isn't enough to quell his rage. Helps that he's using Yang's Semblance to do it.
  • Utopia Justifies the Means: Cang Long is definitely embracing this mindset, by destroying anyone or anything he deems evil.
  • Time Master: The skill in Jaune's arsenal of Nous Anima, "Gears of Time" is apparently this, since he can slow down the time around him and accelerates himself for limited time. Even he doesn't know whose power it was.
