FallDown

     Kikuchi Ryou
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ryou_fullbody_2.png
Age: 17
Height: 170 cm
Birthday: July 5

Delinquent 2nd year high school student. He works a couple of part time jobs to take care of his little sister. An athletic young man with keen intuition, he's surprisingly a big fan of strawberry donuts. The bunny Mamiya claims to be his dad.

  • Bash Brothers: With Natsume in his DownFall route.
  • Blood Knight: Despite his efforts, he can't stop fighting,
  • Big Brother Instinct: Towards his little sister, Midori. He would do anything for her, up to and including trying to murder their mother.
  • Covered with Scars: According to Natsume in DownFall. The player never sees them, though.
  • Identity Amnesia: In Keito's FallDown route. Ryou forgets everything about himself, only managing to recall his name because of the dogtags he wears.
  • Japanese Delinquents: Not by choice. He never picks fights, but other delinquents seem to really want to fight Ryou, and Ryou never turns down or runs away from a fight.
  • Morality Chain: His little sister, Midori. As he states in DownFall:
Kikuchi Ryou: "Midori's presence always helps me... By looking at the world through Midori's eyes, I'm able to keep my pride as a person without giving up on life."
  • Odd Friendship: Model student Minato is Childhood Friends with the delinquent Ryou. They get along well, and are comfortable showing more of their true selves to each other.
  • Promotion to Parent: Works day and night despite being a high school student (he lied about his age) to support his sister, as their mother is abusive and rarely home.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Strawberry donuts. He states that he doesn't like eating, but when Natsume says he got him strawberry donuts, Ryou decides he doesn't mind eating after all.
    • Strawberry donuts were what Osamu, his mother's ex-boyfriend, gave him as a child.
  • Tsundere: A mild case of the harsh variety. Ryou is normally prickly and unapproachable, but as his childhood friend Minato claims, he's just shy. Ryou dotes on his little sister Midori and shows quite a bit of concern in his friends' routes (i.e. Minato and Keito) when their mental states start spiraling.
    • He also opens up quite a bit to Natsume in his DownFall route. By the end of it, he's rather dere, bashfully telling Natsume that he doesn't want to be misunderstood, especially by Natsume.
  • Tsurime Eyes: They serve to emphasize his harsh exterior.
  • When He Smiles: He rarely smiles, but when he does, it's heart-warming.

     Toujou Minato
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/minato_fullbody_0.png
Age: 17
Height: 172 cm
Birthday: May 21

Modern 2nd year high school student. A good-looking young man who can make friends with anybody. The black-belt judo player's biggest secret is his unexpected part-time job. The gas-masked Mamiya loves high places and Minato.

  • Cuteness Proximity: Towards Midori, Ryou's little sister. Minato absolutely adores her and wants to spoil her rotten. From Ryou's FallDown route:
Minato let go of me and rushed to Midori as soon as he saw her. Even Suou was amazed by how quickly his attitude changed.
  • Ikemen: In a Cast Full of Pretty Boys, Minato manages to take the cake.
  • Odd Friendship: Model student Minato is Childhood Friends with the delinquent Ryou. They get along well, and are comfortable showing more of their true selves to each other.
  • Parental Neglect: Minato's parents work late and are never home. It contributes to his overwhelming feelings of loneliness.
  • Stronger Than They Look: He's actually a black belt in judo.

     Morichika Haruki
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/haruki_fullbody_0.png
Age: 22
Height: 181 cm
Birthday: April 15

Playboy. A womanizer loved by older women who treat him like a little brother. A habitual smoker, he likes movies and dislikes loud places. The nurse Mamiya is always nice to this friendless man in poor health.

  • Birds of a Feather: Haruki and Mayuri. She started opening up to him when they were patient and nurse because she realized they're both painfully alone.
  • Meaningful Name: He was named Haruki because he was born in spring.

     Suou Keito
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/keito_fullbody.png
Age: 15
Height: 190 cm
Birthday: February 29

Puppy-like 1st year high school student. He was raised in a happy family, but he finds everything boring and daydreams often. Normally a kind young man, he sometimes acts as greedy and arrogant as a devil. The invisible Mamiya has been his best friend since he was little.

  • Cloudcuckoolander: Deconstructed. His cloudcuckoolander tendencies lead to him having difficulty distinguishing his dreams from reality.
  • Dumb Jock: Keito, the resident Cloudcuckoolander, is actually pretty athletic. He's on the lacrosse team.
  • Gentle Giant: He's the tallest member of the cast, but he wouldn't hurt a fly until his delusions start spilling out of control near the end of FallDown.
  • I Just Want to Be Special: The main source of conflict for Keito's routes. His dreams are a form of Escapism from his dull, ordinary life.
  • Innocent Blue Eyes: Fitting for his naivete.
  • Lovable Jock: Definitely the friendliest and most open member of the cast.
  • Sleepwalking: Frequently does this during his FallDown route.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Peaches. In his letter to Ryou, he states his favorite food is peaches with gratin.
  • Unreliable Narrator: This is present in all of the FallDown routes, but it is most prominent in Keito's. He refuses to acknowledge that he's sleepwalking at night.

DownFall

     Touma
Age: 17
Height: 183 cm

Music school student. A diligent, air-headed young man who dislikes Arisugawa for throwing his weight around. He takes care of his sickly younger brother. He met his Mamiya through stargazing, and they became best friends.

     Ni'igaki
Age: 17
Height: 164 cm

Magazine model high school student. Her beauty is enough to turn heads. The thorny girl doesn't open up easily to others. At the shared residence, she plays the role of a straight man in a comedy act. Her Mamiya used to be a school teacher who spent time with her after school.

     Arisugawa
Age: 27
Height: 172 cm

Children's book writer. A man of both arrogance and caring who loves drinking, smoking, and reading. He and Samejima fight like cats and dogs. His Mamiya used to proofread his writings.

     Samejima
Age: 27
Height: 188 cm
Birthday: February 28

Police officer. A member of Suou's father's team at the police force. The vegetable-hating foodie likes Suou and takes care of him. He killed his immortal Mamiya over and over again.

  • Does Not Like Spam: Despite being a gourmet, Samejima absolutely refuses to eat his vegetables.
  • Eyes Always Shut: To highlight his mysterious nature.
  • Red Herring: Samejima's presence in Keito's route is meant to confuse the reader into thinking that the events of the pink house take place in the same year as Natsume's funeral.

Other (unmarked spoilers)

     The Protagonist

Natsume Souichirou

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/natsume_fullbody_9.png
Birthday: December 22

The protagonist, who died before the beginning of the story. He subsequently became a Spectator. A goofy yet loyal man who tries his hardest. He's quick to shout and displays his emotions openly. He fears no risk for the sake of saving the four friends he loves. He opposes and hates Mamiya.

  • Badass Longcoat: Shown off most in Ryou's DownFall route, where he uses his body's detective abilities to ward off Ryou's persuers.
  • Bodyguarding a Badass: What he tries to do with Ryou in DownFall.
  • Full-Name Basis: Natsume refers to all his friends by full name, only changing it up at the end of some DownFall routes, most notably Minato's.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: All he wants to do is save his four friends.
  • Hero Worship: Natsume Souichirou looked up to and admired Ryou when he was alive.
  • Hiding Behind Your Bangs: His left eye is covered up to add to his mystique.
  • Ironic Name: He was named Natsume ("summer eye") despite being born in winter.
  • Lie to the Beholder: Natsume Souichirou, when he was alive, is implied to have looked like his in-game sprite. However, as a Spectator, the other characters now see him as someone different.
  • Prone to Tears: Natsume cries quite a bit over the course of trying to save his friends.
  • Younger Than They Look: He's a 17-year old high school boy occupying the body of a 23-year old detective. This comes to play most in Ryou and Suou's routes.
    • In Ryou's route, Natsume desperately tries to embody the type of adult who can protect Ryou.
    • In Suou's route, Natsume talks to Samejima, an actual functioning adult (unlike Haruki), and finds himself nervous.

     Leader of the Mamiyas

Mamiya Yumehisa

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mamiya_fullbody.png

The mysterious unexisting leader of the other Mamiyas. His objective is to exist in the world by whatever means necessary. He uses Natsume to carry his plan forward. He's concerned about the friends he had before his death.
