Umeko Hirayama/Seiko Hirayama
SHSL "Amnesiac" SHSL Detective
The protagonist. A girl with no recollection of her memories, including her talent.
As of Chapter 6's trial, Umeko is still alive.
- Amateur Sleuth: Plays this role during investigations.
- Amnesiac Hero: Is the only one who cannot remember her own talent or her life before the Killing Game.
- Idiot Hair: As per Danganronpa protagonist standard.
- The Hero: The main protagonist of the fic.
- The Leader: While Eizo, Hanako, and Azuma hold this title officially between the class, Umeko is this when it comes to investigations and class trials. Umeko then officially becomes this by Chapter 6 after Eizo, Hanako, and Azuma's deaths.
- Robotic Reveal: Umeko is revealed to be a robot during Chapter 6.
Hanako Asato
SHSL Band Leader
A calm and rational young lady with strong leadership skills and a calculating personality. She was the former leader of the band she created. However, for unknown reasons, she left the band and disbanded the group.
She is the culprit of Chapter 4, strapping Wakako to an electric chair to be electrocuted to death as part of a plan to end the killing game with everyone's deaths.
Miyumi Ishibashi
SHSL Ventriloquist
A sweet young lady with a strong love for her dolls and a passion for ventriloquism. She comes off as eccentric to others due to the amount of time she spends with her dolls, but she is otherwise relatively normal.
As of Chapter 6's trial, Miyumi is still alive.
- Break the Cutie: All throughout the killing game, Miyumi has shown to be Prone to Tears whenever something bad happened, combined with the fact that she has a rather childish mindset at worst, she was in for a ride with the events of the fic. The most marking being: Seeing her friends dying right in front of her, losing her precious dolls (friends) lots of times, specially at the Chapter 3 crime scene, only regaining her later on shredded to pieces. Being accused of being the killer of not one, but two of her classmates shortly after being almost killed by the boy she was in love and almost being drowned by a psychopat, being accused again and almost sentenced to death for electrocuting a friend.
- Shrinking Violet: She is very shy around the others.
Shizuko Ikehara
SHSL Actress
A professional actress who has starred in movie, television, and theatre roles. She is arrogant and holds herself to high standards due to being in the public eye for so long. She is the culprit of Chapter 2, stabbing Kaori to death after she interfered with her plan to kill Eisuke.
- Devil in Plain Sight: Shizuko has no problems in reminding everyone that she thinks no one around there is even worth of her time, mostly calling them commoners.
- Master Actor: It's her SHSL talent. She uses her acting talent in an attempt to frame Hanako as the Chapter 2 culprit.
- Playing the Victim Card: At Chapter 2, Shizuko pretended to be attacked by The Beast alongised an unsuspecting Umeko, later on the Chapter, even going as far as jumping from a window and pretending being attacked by The Beast to cover up from an injury her victim (Kaori) made on her while struggling.
Kaori Nishimoto
SHSL Dog Whisperer
A quiet girl with an affinity for understanding and communicating with dogs. She herself prefers spending more time with her canine companions than other people.
She is the victim of Chapter 2, stabbed to death by Shizuko after learning the truth about the Beast and her plan.
Samira St. Clair
SHSL Street Artist
A street artist with a talent for creating murals and graffiti. Her passion for creating art has led her to brushing with the law and even ended up with her getting kicked out of her family's house. Although she is rather brash at times, she normally has good intentions. As of Chapter 6's trial, Samira is still alive.
- Lady Swears-a-Lot: She has quite the filthy mouth, and drops about one swear word per sentence.
Fukumi Furutani
SHSL Daredevil
A girl with a passion for thrills, being almost a magnet for dangerous situations while enojoying it. She has a no hold back police when it comes to adrenaline, easily being one, if not, The boldest girl in the group. She is one of the victims of Chapter 3, being killed by Taro to be kept quiet about his attempted murder on Miyumi and the subsequent murder of Eiso. Died via blunt force trauma on the forehead from the momentum of the rollercoaster, while not wearing a seatbelt.
- Genki Girl: A wild ball of energy who never seems to lose her happiness.
- Thrill Seeker: As the SHSL Daredevil, she gets an adrenaline rush whenever she does incredibly dangerous things.
Wakako Noguchi
SHSL Reality TV Star
A girl addicted to attention and a little bit of a fame monger, she was recognized worldwide by he debuts on reality shows and making her presence known. With a like for gossip and drama, she is certain to spice up the competition, even if she has to use underhand tactics. She is the victim of Chapter 4, being kidnapped by Hanako for being an easy target at the time and then restrained to a chair, which after a while would electrocute the person.
- High-Voltage Death: She's strapped to a chair and electrocuted to death in Chapter 4.
- Shameless Fanservice Girl: She's quite aware of her voluptuous figure, and milks her looks for all they're worth to survive the killing game.
Eizo Oshima/ Eisuke Oshima
SHSL Commander
A boy best known for his heritage, Eizo has the true passion of a commander, aspiring to lead the group to a safe future. At least that's what he shows, deep down he is insecure of not being enough, he became an overachiever and a perfectionist by heart. He is one of the victims of Chapter 3, being killed by Taro after saving Miyumi's life from a oncoming rollercoaster sent by Taro. Died via being smashed against a wall by said rollercoaster.
- Asshole Victim: Although it can be discussed, since Eizo was only trying his best for the group and didn't know of Eisuke's existence. Now this one is one, if not the most, asshole victim, not only killing his own father in cold blood, he scheemed to kill someone with Shizuko, trying to kill various characters, once again trying to kill a classmate and liking to see people suffer.
- Kick the Dog: Quite literally. Eisuke was the one who killed Buddy.
- Split Personality: He has a split personality, Eisuke Oshima.
Mordecai Fisher
SHSL Marksman
A boy with a lot of stories to tell, but not enough proof to show. His weird outlandish personality is what makes him unforgettable, since he is sure to surprise you with his deeds. Along with this, Mordecai also follows a moral code of honor, recognizing others as heroes when they show him honor. As of Chapter 6's trial, Mordecai is still alive.
- The Big Guy: One of the (if not the) tallest of the students, and is also physically capable as well.
- Chuunibyou: Dresses up in a cape and acts like a hero, and loves to tell wild stories of the villains and monsters he's defeated despite only being a teenager.
- Expy: With his hammy personality, strong desire to protect his friends, and strange manner of dress, he's a dead ringer for Gundham Tanaka. Unlike Gundham, however, he survives to the Chapter 6 trial.
- I Call It "Vera": He calls his crossbow "Betsy".
- Improbable Aiming Skills: Mordecai is the SHSL Marksman, but we don't see him using his talent for most of the story because his crossbow was taken away from him by Monokuma. After he retrieves his crossbow in Chapter 5, we see just how good his aim is.
Ichiro Umemoto
SHSL Botanist
He is the victim of Chapter 5, being killed by Azuma for being in the wrong place, since his probable target was Yoshihiki, the assumed person at the tower. Died via stabbing on the back by a jagged piece of metal carried by Azuma.
- Took a Level in Kindness: As the story progresses, Ichiro goes from someone who was cold and aloof towards everyone to being openly friendly and optimistic.
- Tsundere: Cold and reclusive, but with a secret soft side.
Azuma Takemoto
SHSL Spy Ordinary Spy
A young man living a life of secrecy as a spy working under government programs. He is exceptionally skilled at infiltration, stealth, and martial arts. Although he has been in many dangerous situations, he has never killed any of his opponents, only knocking them out. Despite being in the world of espionage, he's a friendly and modest young man. He is the culprit of Chapter 5, killing Ichiro via a stab to the back with a metal rod on top of the Clock Tower.
Taro Tahara
SHSL Bookworm
An excitable and sociable young boy with a love for reading books about anything and everything. Despite his strong stutter and social awkwardness,he is always willing to start a conversation with anyone as long as he's not reading. He is the culprit of Chapter 3, killing Eizo and Fukumi in a double-murder using the mechanism of the coasters in the Tunnel of Love while under the influence of personality-altering drugs in an attempt to escape back to his mother and father who were under threat by Monokuma.
- Shrinking Violet: Because of his stutter, he is shy around the others.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: In Chapter 3 class trial, acting condescending and manipulative, trying to appeal his classmates of his innocence, even when the evidence strongly suggested otherwise. Although, this was influenced by Monokuma's motive, which implemented another person's personality, in this case: Yoshihiki's.
Nagatomo Yamaoka
SHSL Thief
A mysterious young man who seems to know more about the killing game than he lets on. He is the killer of Chapter 1, killing Kenji by blunt force trauma with a trophey. In the class trial, it's discovered his intended victim was Ichiro, probably for being an easy kill, per say. By the time Chapter 6 comes around, it's discovered that "Kenji's" body was actually a double killed by Kenji himself, incriminating Nagatomo in the process. Since the latter was blackmailed, he was forced to continue the plan. Executed via being crushed by an excessive amount of monocoins in a safe room.
- Gentleman Thief: He may steal valuables, but he's very polite and always returns whatever he steals afterwards- most of the time. Doesn't stop him from committing murder in Chapter 1, though.
- Impossible Theft: Nagatomo is the SHSL Thief, so it's unsurprising when he manages to steal Umeko's hairclip and wristwatch in the span their first conversation together.
- Small Role, Big Impact: Despite his early death in Chapter 1, Nagomoto proves to leave quite an impact that lasts all throughout the story.
- Sympathetic Murderer: During the Chapter 6 trial, it's revealed that he only committed murder to protect his sister from the Copycats of Despair.
Kenji Enomoto/Mastermind
SHSL Skateboarder SHSL Lucky Student
He is the victim of Chapter 1, being ambushed by Nagatomo in an armor set at the rec. room. Died via blunt force trauma at the forehead by a trophel. By the time Chapter 6 comes, it's safe to say that Kenji never died and the body was an android, along with the fact that Kenji himself killed his copy and made Nagatomo take the fall. This was made so Kenji could watch the killing game by far, since he was the Mastermind the whole time.
- Big Bad: Revealed to be the true Mastermind during the Chapter 6 trial.
- Casanova Wannabe: Described as a self-proclaimed ladies' man. However, his incessant flirting gets him nowhere with Wakako.
Yoshihiki Kawamura
SHSL Prankster
As of Chapter 6's trial, Yoshihiki is still alive.
- The Prankster: Pranking others is literally his talent, and he really has a field day with it at any given opportunity.
Monokuma
- Big Bad: The headmaster of the class and the one presenting the motives.
