Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. Some locked pages have ongoing cleanup threads, like Complete Monster (Thread), Five-Man Band (Thread), and Magnificent Bastard (Thread). Other than purely technical requests, edits to these pages ought to be discussed in these threads first.
  9. Also, we do not do direct edits (other than changing wicks) to Magnificent Bastard or Complete Monster example lists. Rather, you need to do the edit to a sandbox page that follows the format Sandbox.Magnificent Bastard<Name of the example subpage> and Sandbox.Monster<Name of the example subpage> (e.g for Monster.Disney it's Sandbox.Monster Disney) and ask for it to be swapped in on Saturday for Magnificent Bastard and on Monday for Complete Monster.
  10. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

NOTE: Edited with OP's permission.

If the current write-up for Black Lagoon's Chaka on the anime subpage for CM could be replaced by this rewrite, which better emphasises his crimes?

  • Black Lagoon is a Crapsack World, filled with terrible people, but none manage to be quite as hateful (or fundamentally petty) as Chaka. A Yakuza lieutenant with a penchant for Domestic Abuse, Chaka makes his entrance beating up Rock in an effort to impress Revy. When the battle between the Yakuza and the Russian mob goes badly for the Yakuza, Chaka kidnaps and brutalises Yukio, his boss' teenage daughter, beating her bloody, and planning to sell her to a sexual sadist as part of his plan to take control of the remnants of the Yakuza. When Revy and Ginji arrive to bail her out, Chaka shoots through his own men to try and get at them, kills another man for daring to try and run away, then runs away himself, leaving his men to be massacred. Childish, stupid, and completely out of his depth, Chaka manages to make an impression only through his complete lack of concience, loyalty, or human decency.

Thank you.

Instances of Abuse Is Okay When It Is Female on Male needs to be changed to Double Standard: Abuse, Female on Male in the Double Standard page. Also, that entry needs to be moved to the "sexist against both" folder, since the description for the trope mentions that "the basic Double Standard at work in this trope is sexist on both sides: no woman is strong enough to harm a man, so any man weak enough to be harmed by a woman isn't a real man, and that's funny."

Edit: Also, I'm not sure if it should go here or Tech Wishlist, but could something to the effect of "If you're looking for names of TV shows and other works whose names you can't remember, post it in You Know That Show." be added to the description at the top of Lost And Found? There are some people who assume these questions go to Lost and Found based on the name, and there's nothing to direct them to the correct place except tropers answering their queries.

On the Monster.Anime And Manga page, the Franchise.Deadman Wonderland entry should start "The "blood-bending" Deadmen in Deadman Wonderland", to correct both the pothole to a page that doesn't exist and since work titles aren't supposed to be potholed.

Would it be okay to have the following added to the page for Osama bin Laden (I'm currently writing an essay on him and found this out)?

  • Bastard Understudy: Bin Laden got his start as the protege of Palestinian cleric and Islamist ideologue Abdullah Azzam. Azzam mentored bin Laden during his time in Afghanistan, organized the opening of their training camps there and along the Pakistani border, formulated much of al-Qaeda's ideology, and depending on who you ask may actually have written their charter. When he was killed in 1988 (by who we do not know) bin Laden stepped up as the heir apparent to radical Islamism in general and command of al-Qaeda in particular.

4903, 4905, 4906: Done.

4904: The first part of the Double Standard edit is done. As it's written, the entry fits the section it's in more clearly than in "sexist against either". Your logic is sound, and another mod might move it, but I'm going to leave it be for now...maybe it needs to be rewritten to make your point more clear. As for the Lost And Found request, that's an Eddie thing.

4907: That seems sound, but I've asked for staff input on adding it.

On the subject of Rape Is a Special Kind of Evil, TomClancy needs to be changed to Creator/TomClancy, and the Complete Monster pothole removed from the entry (the soldiers so potholed don't qualify, under the tighter rules for the trope).

A very long time ago we voted to have Lucifer removed from the Supernatural section on the Live Action TV subpage for Complete Monster. Sometime after our removal, but before the page was locked, somebody readded it. If it could please be removed again? Thank you.

If the possessed man from Season 7 could be removed from the section for Supernatural on the Live Action TV subpage. His actions are all offscreen and it has been determined he does not count. Thank you.

Have come to a consensus on some of the entries on the Fire Emblem Complete Monster page located here. The votes have been tallied in this post. Request a removal for the entry for Sonia (Under the Elibe section) and Valter (Under the Sacred Stones section)

More Supernatural clean up for the Live Action subpage on Complete Monster. If Azazel and the entry for Famine, War, and Pestilence could be cut? General consensus is that they do not qualify.

EDIT: Really minor request, but on the Complete Monster subpage for film, there's a small change I'd like made to the entry for Frank from Once Upon A Time In The West. If the link to Playing Against Type could be removed from Henry Fonda's name and be replaced with a link to the page for Henry Fonda? Minor, I know, but it's been bothering me, and the entry for Angel Eyes from another of the director's films has a link to his actor, Lee Van Cleef.

For Monster.Cartoon Network, add the WesternAnimation/ namespace to Courage the Cowardly Dog, Ed Edd n' Eddy's Big Picture Show, Generator Rex, Hot Wheels: Battle Force 5, Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island, The Secret Saturdays, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Sym-Bionic Titan, and Totally Spies! The Powerpuff Girls needs a "the" added before it gets the namespace.

Yeah, I know that's a lot to fix. I'd usually do it myself, but you get the idea.

Please add SKX to Monster.Video Games.

We've reached an agreement.

  • Serial Killer X, aka Leland Vanhorn from Condemned. Any sympathy he may have had as a Serial-Killer Killer is undermined by the various innocents he kills. He even murders his own uncle after the latter nursed him back to health after the events of the first game. The only reason he kills other serial killers in the first place is so he can adopt their methods as his own. He also doesn't have the excuse of being driven insane by the Oro's sonic emitters like the rest of the city, as he clearly enjoys it.

More clean-up for the Complete Monster subpages.

If the current examples for Bokurano on the anime subpage could all be removed and replaced with this write-up for Hagatai? It's been determined that he's the only one who qualifies.

  • The manga version of Hagatai from Bokurano seduces his girlfriend's middle school aged sister, convincing her that he loves her, only to then have her gangraped. He then blackmails her into staying silent, while he moves on to his next target. His motivation, beyond ephebophilia, is the sick thrill that he gets out of hurting her, while knowing that her family continues to trust him. He may not have been an alien, or the operator of a Humongous Mecha, but when it comes to being just plain disgusting, no one else in the manga comes close.

Secondly, if the current write-up for Alistair from Supernatural on the Live Action TV page could be swapped out for this new one?

  • Alistair is Hell's Grand Inquisitor, and is responsible for supervising the torture of newly arrived souls. When Dean arrives in Hell, Alistair tortures him for thirty years, offering to stop if Dean will accept his offer and torment other souls on Alistair's behalf. When Dean accepts, one of the seals imprisoning Lucifer is broken, a fact that Alistair frequently taunts Dean about during their subsequent encounters. During the hunt for Anna Milton, Alistair captures Ruby and begins cutting pieces away from her with her own knife, before trying to overpower and murder Castiel. He murders several Reapers later in the series, and does his best to kill Sam and Dean and banish Castiel, before being finally put out of commish. An utterly sadistic bully, Alistair is rivaled only by Lilith when it comes to being the worst demon in the series.
