As do I, not only for the vulgarity, but also for the attitude. It's a "Look, this trope is bad" quote. The current quote is fine.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.

Pull that quote. It's in bad taste.

By the way, removed Wallbonking's quote, and someone already moved The Missionary's.

Speech-Centric Work: I know the quote is by one of the giants of filming, but I still feel it's too negative.

As far as the Handsome Lech quote goes, I think the Flash one is a little funnier, but the Escaflowne Abridged one is better because it actually mentions attractiveness.

Edit. Realized I was in the wrong thread... Sigh. I need to have a discussion with three overly affectionate cats.

Speech-Centric Work: I don't know, it's a little dismissive but it's not actively hostile. He doesn't come out and say that "photographs of people talking" is necessarily a bad thing, even if it is implied.

I'd say keep unless we can find a better one.

The current quote on Stuff Blowing Up seems a little complainy. How's this one instead?

I'll swap the quotes on Handsome Lech and leave a note. The Escaflowne one won. :-)

[up][up] That page has so many great quotes I kind of wonder why we use the current one... I'm partial to these two, among others.

Goddess of Explosions: Anyway, what is your wish?
Princess Pitch: More explosions.
Goddess of Explosions: Your wish is granted!!!
— Hyper Princess Pitch

"There are no problems which cannot be solved by judicious use of high explosives."
— British Commando motto, World War 2

[up]The "judicious use of high explosives" one reminded me of this:

"As the size of an explosion increases, the number of social situations it is incapable of solving approaches zero."
— Vaarsuvius, The Order of the Stick

The quote on Everyone Is Gay is just a restatement of the trope title, and most of those on the Quotes page are similar.

[up][up] That's on the quotes page too, as are some other similar sayings, but I prefer the British commandos' motto because Real Life example and, secondarily, British commandos. :)

Attributing the motto specifically to British commandos is not really sourced. Pretty much every form of military combat arms has been associated with that saying or some variant. Field artillery, combat engineers, US Marines...

The official motto of the Royal Marine Commandos is "Per mare, per terram (by sea, by land)."

The page quote on Morality Pet is terrible. It is illustrating another trope entirely. This has nothing to do with a team mascot. I'd say ditch it and go for one on the quotes page.

[up]Ditch that quote, it has no relevance to the trope. The ones in the Quotes page aren't that good either, though, and some of them have the exact same problem as the current - but if nothing else, I like the Claymore one best.

Anyway, Can't Get in Trouble for Nuthin' have two page quote. The first one seem to fit better, as the second one sounds more like Karma Houdini than this trope.

[up] I'd say the first one. I canned the quote on Morality Pet. It is blank for now.

[up]Removed. I don't particularly like the first quote either, though.

The quote in Dream Weaver doesn't remotely describe the trope. The only quote I can think of is the following line from Inception:

  • "We create the world of the dream, you bring the subject into that dream, and they fill it with their secrets."

...but it might be more suitable for Dream Stealer if we add in Ariadne's following line ("Then we break in and steal it?")

[up] I like the Inception quote for Dream Stealer. The Dream Weaver one, I'd move to its quote sub-page.

Decontamination Chamber has two quotes, but I don't particularly fancy either. I'd move both to quote sub-page.

[up]If we have to keep one of them, I think the first one is better.

Vomiting Cop still has two quotes (I believe the concensus was heading for the second one), and so does New Job Episode (I like Donald Duck's myself).

Also, would this be an acceptable quote for Difficult, but Awesome?

The Cop Killer quote is a solid five-line paragraph. No quotes page, but there has to be something better than that.

The Inception quote is added to Dream Stealer.

I've deleted the second one.

Well, There's this possibility for Cop Killer, from Damon Runyon's story "Earthquake", but it's not a great deal shorter. (It takes up three lines rather than four on my monitor.)

"But in the meantime I hear rumours that Johnny Brannigan is out of town looking for Earthquake, because it seems that while misconducting himself Earthquake severely injures a copper by the name of Mulcahy. In fact, it seems that Earthquake injures him so severely that Mulcahy hauls off and dies, and if there is one thing that is against the law in this town it is injuring a copper in such a manner. In fact, it is apt to cause great indignation among other coppers."

OR

Most of the first line could be cut, using just this part:

"...while misconducting himself Earthquake severely injures a copper by the name of Mulcahy. In fact, it seems that Earthquake injures him so severely that Mulcahy hauls off and dies, and if there is one thing that is against the law in this town it is injuring a copper in such a manner. In fact, it is apt to cause great indignation among other coppers."

On the page it will be 2 and a fraction lines long if we do that.

OR

It can be trimmed even further, to:

"...it seems that Earthquake injures him so severely that Mulcahy hauls off and dies, and if there is one thing that is against the law in this town it is injuring a copper in such a manner. In fact, it is apt to cause great indignation among other coppers."

A little less than two full lines long.
