Well, if you want crossover with Gate, why not just cross it with XCOM 2? ADVENT was busy try to keeping order, Bradford cannot decide if this... stuff is a boon or another danger, Dr. Vahlen makes contact with either Yao (Hilarity Ensues) or Tuuka (Awkwardness Ensues). Oh, and Elders and whoever open The Gate start butting heads on principle, with Rory and The Chosen start playing mouse-and-cat.

Of course, The Empire shall burn but nobody cares for them anyway.

It's not a crossover with Gate except in the Spiritual Successor sense, i.e. it takes the essence of the premise but the details and, most importantly, the fantasy setting are all my original design (be it actually original or an alternate version of an establishing setting).

Also, when I say that, say, Lyrical Nanoha is part of the crossover, I don't mean canon!Lyrical Nanoha, but rather a AU version where almost the entire cast are mundane humans born on Earth, with the rest being either denizens of the other world or Earth-born animals that some way or the other gain sapience due to contact with something in/from the other world (so you could, for example, have Arf be a normal dog all her life until she gets hit with a magic blast intended for Fate, only for the aftermath to leave her as a Little Bit Beastly who can now communicate properly with her beloved mistress).

I think I'm gonna keep XCOM out of the equation of this crossover, if only because I do not want actual aliens (let alone ones like the Elders) being involved in anyway. It's supposed to be a "mundane modern world vs. fantastic pre-industrial world" story in the first place, and Psychic Powers existing in the former independently of contact with the latter would ruin the "mundane" aspect.

Hey now, I could always decide to do a Gate/XCOM crossover later on. I already have plans for a C&C Tiberium Series/Gate crossover, too... one in which the Tiberiumverse I'm using is a hypothetical one in which GDI and Nod managed to establish a long-lasting peace between each other (I think I summarized my hypothetical scenario for such a thing on the C&C thread). And then their alliance expanded with the inclusion of the Forgotten as a global confederation of Tiberium Mutant neo-tribal nations.

The poor Saderan Empire, having to face Mammoth tanks, Avatar warmechs, and Mutants riding giant acid-spewing dragon/worm-like Tiberium-mutated monstrosities that they've taken to calling "Olgoi-Khorkhoi", all fighting alongside each other.

I dunno, 3 ways war between GDI, Nod, (and maybe Scrin) and a honest-to-goodness literal Death God sounds awesome in my book. Of course, poor civilians in the crossfire but, well, eggs and omelettes and all that.

So a new story setup that I wanted to use to rework my older one regarding gamer adventures with various modern Western Cartoon/Anime characters some pages back.

The story would be set on world filled with the official Cartoon and Anime characters being real, living among humans and doing shows for them about.

During 80s to 90s, the emergence of modern technology and electronics starting to make their way to Toon Worlds + Anime Worlds starts to grow - which leads to a profession meant to work in these worlds being established. These consist of mechanics that go fix these electronics among other things that might get affected by such worlds, due exaggeration and "life" that is breath into these things.

The story would start during 1998, where Pokemon Red & Blue had managed to become huge hits, which of course, gets the attention of certain Toons living in the 90s. One of them would be playing the game regularly when they hear about rumors about certain ways to break the game. They inadvertently come across Missing No, and catch the glitch Pokemon: What they don’t expect to happen is that this being actually manages to gain enough sentience due now being in the Toon Dimension, and starts taking over the very Gameboy Color that this Toon was using, almost turning it and the character into a glitch mess. The workers are called in to dispose of this glitch Gameboy Color, one of them being a female veteran mechanic - she manages to reset the game in order to seal Missigno away, but lost her eye in the process, as that got glitched and was rendered numb.

Years pass, upon which this veteran ("Kiyomi") has a new female mechanic America coming to her office, who she tutors and teaches the ins and outs + secrets of the job from her glory days. This new mechanic tends to explore how the drawn things might be able to resemble ones in real life, and attempts to fix those or even retool ones based on the functions from the originals.

Named the new mechanic "Lime" for now. - she's become quite a professional, and has had her workload quite exploded after winning awards for "Employee of the Year" for being long-time preferred mechanic for certain big stars she bonded over time - such as Nami, Taichi Kamiya, Lilo & Nani, Courage, Negi Springfield and Haruhi Fujioka.

Lately she had frequented helping out Stan Pines, Okabe Rintarou (if reluctantly) and Reigen Arataka (Even moreso) with their electronical troubles.

If to continue further with my next story plans: One day Lime would be to remove important chips from some to-be-disposed VR headsets that allow Toons and Anime to get inside videogames, which are strangely hit with similar phenomenon to Missingno-incident back in the late 90s (They can't conjure their powers for some reason). Sometime later she meets a bit of a timid and bumbling detective, who she takes into the modern Toontown among other worlds out there to investigate the mystery, while also introducing the guy, completely foreign to the Toon/Anime conventions and practices out there for rather funny dynamics.

I thought this would be an interesting and modern take on people living among Anime characters or Toons, perhaps even being able to forge certain types of bonds or friendships with them as they might become their "frequent" customer. There'd be also various sub-professions within this job that specialize more on digital characters (like DigiDestined and their Digimon) or other stuff.

What ya'll think, is this a good set-up to do a multi-crossover OC-fanfic?

Why? Are OCs considered bad around here? I mean, I've seen some fanfics with OCs in them that managed to land even here in TV Tropes as recommendations... wild mass guess

I made an OC not out of some self-insertion/wish-fulfillment, but in order to put shift the focus into a more manageable form through observing smaller group of original characters interacting with official characters and put the theme of the fic (emergent of technology + animated worlds) around together to a better cohesive whole via this mechanic job-thing.

Mostly because it would much more convoluted and a turn-off to the general audience to have the focus on various hand-picked official characters that makes it hard for the audience to see who are supposed to be focused the main characters.

Whenever I had wrote it in smaller, easier terms, generalizations had poured about from people I presented them at. Most people usually have dismissed my ideas right away due how they sound "disastrous" on paper or something along the lines of, even if I try really hard to rectify the usual issues that they mention about them (to a good success, actually).

I hope you have time to read that fully sometime as much as wall-o-text it looks.

I feel like there's a stealth joke that you didn't actually mention OCs until the very end of your wall o' text.

And to say everyone was turned off at the mention of OCs is a gross generalization. Some of us have wound up using a veritable legion of OCs.

[up] Either I did forget to mention this had OCs, or just felt it wouldn't be as s effective as telling my concept in it's whole to let and see if it's good enough to bypass the fact it has OCs. Seeing how you made "stealth joke"-remark... success?

On generalization, @SC Mof281411th's reply came came off as pretty harsh, yet direct, so I didn't have much else to go off from. And I had bit of a bad day then, since I had left some passive-aggressive replies...sad

But I still like to know what was with that reply, anyway. Though I also wonder if there's something else wrong with what I presented...

Few people want to read fanfics for the author's thinly-veiled SI OC, they want to read it for the characters of the fandom the fic is supposedly about. Hence such an announcement of the significance of OC's is summary poison. It's possible to LIKE an OC in the story, but only after a LOT of time has passed. In a 50-chap fic, if you introduce an OC by the tenth chapter and they're likeable enough and don't steal the show from the characters the reader actually want to read about, you can maybe get away with a 1-chapter OC-centric sidestory at around chapter 45. A fic ABOUT OC's from the start? It'll be a tough sell, especially if other factors like pace, an Original Setting, and overshadowing the canon characters in appearances come into it. If you're going to do that anyway, just make it's an original story. Surprisingly, you get a lot more leeway if you write an original story, than a supposed 'fanfic' staring OCs. It's the written equivalent of letting you have more racist humor in a TV show if you have an all-ethnic, non-white cast.

And really, your summary can be shortened by saying "Roger Rabbit-like setting with modern Cartoon and Anime branching out into video game cutscene acting via virtual reality. Conspiracy ensues."

[up] Good points, really - though I kind of disagree on the making this a original story. Since this concept does take heavily from Who Framed Roger Rabbit, I think it would then go that section in fanfiction-sites or be labeled as "WFRR"-fanfic. IDK it could pass like this as an orginal story.

Ironically enough bigger sites like FF.Net features fics using similar premise as the movie with authors' own OCs in WFRR-section. So I could go make my story present in that vein.

Finally, that kind of summarization is exactly why I was presented with responses like "WTH" or "That sounds like disaster".

Still trying to work on making my Crossover AU work. A question:

If I were to limit all of the Anime and Cartoons to only those very profilic ones from 2010s, would that sound accessible to most people today? I think I could use this to springboard an interesting exploration of modern anime + cartoons versus old ones from 2000s + 90s, along with how both mediums have started to get more familiar with one another as information exchange had rapidly evolved from the millennial times.

Limiting yourself to a decade or two might make things easier, depending on what you want to do with your story.

The titles I picked were mainly centralizing on videogames/Isekai-anime/Sci-Fi with three main characters from My Hero Academia (Izuku), The Amazing World Of Gumball (Gumball) and Wreck It Ralph (Vanellope) respectively.

- Konosuba is featured briefly in the beginning but cuts off later.

The crossover AU had this plot I had been working on:

Before I start:

The AU here is inspired heavily by CN City-bumpers from Cartoon Network's Powerhouse Era - except being highly modern and with best of technology + services to be considered a "celebrity resort". It's also the only city where both cartoons and anime meet up together: the reguirement being that their show has had a dub in both English and Japanese before and have some degree of mainstream popularity in both countries. Named this city "Atomburg". Go for this thread incase you want to read about it.

Finally the characters are considered Animated Actors in this AU.

Overall plot goes as follows:

After having a decisive duel in a fighting tournament, Gumball and Izuku join up as temporary friends to play through VR-powered remakes of old videogames together - being able to use the powers or abilities attributed to famous videogame heroes. The story starts with them trying to get in a "hidden area" at Zelda 1, but get attacked by epileptic seizures. Later on they both find out that Izuku has lost his signature "Full Cowl"-power while Gumball can't exactly bend reality for comedic effect temporarily anymore, both needed for their stories.

Both then discover that they aren't alone with the phenomenon as Fix-It-Felix himself who had been involved with these VR-addons has also been struck - his Golden Hammer goes missing as he goes comatose for a brief time. After waking up, he finds himself "hopless".

As the VR-Addon support gets removed via an update, Gumball and Izuku attempt to find out what's going on, starting from meeting Kite from .hack. They then hear about an incident happening at the end of 90s involving Pokemon-games at the time, and how that might be posing a threat to others as well due locking out the powers inside their brains.

Story would then involve fighting this infamous glitched being having been born accidentally from the 90s and lots of cheat code abuse/arbitrary code execution/pushing games to their limits - basically taking gamebreaking up to eleven ala Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

^ Seems like an impeccable matchup together. Now to just pin down what you wanna concentrate on with this crossover idea.

On that end, I'm trying to see how to work My Hero Academia with Little Witch Academia. Been wondering how to differentiate Witches and Quirk-users.

I mostly had settled on that Witches can't receives Quirks themselves, instead they have "Magic" - A.K.A that world's "Mana", as that existed long before Quirks had become a thing. I went with this in order to concentrate making Witches and Heroes enough different from each other, with Witches being able to do various magic themselves but might specialize on various ones seen around the world in many mythologies or cultures. Though I had even toyed around with an antagonist that would have access to both a Quirk and Magic.

On that end, I had been imagining of building on the individual specialization each Witch possesses in the series in order to really stand well with the Heroes and their Quirks that keep getting built further on. Mostly came to this during watching the TV-series that had Akko take in mastering the Animal Transformation Spell she had see Chariot do in her shows.

I've failed to come up with a good counterpart for Chopper, and I'm kinda on the fence about both Yamcha and Alucard, and even Hiei.

Any suggestions would be good here.

Double Post because I finally thought of a final member for that other team:

Yarne. He works because he's also got beast attributes, transforms (even if he only does it once) and is a video game character to Choppers anime character. The fact that Awakening is the only Fire Emblem game I've played kinda eliminates any other choices from the franchise (I could use a male Manakete Morgan, but I feel like there's more that can be done with Yarne).

So to sum up:

1) Team 1:

2) Team 2:

....wow. I did it.

Now to never actually make this fic.

OK, I have a crossover fanfic idea that I just can't get out of my head, but I do have a major concern about it, which is that it's a Fusion Fic of Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite, and that no one would be interested in reading it since everyone seems to hate the story of that game (even though I personally don't think it's that bad.)

Anyway, the idea is to take the basic premise of Marvel Infinite's plot, in which two villains from two different universes use CosmicKeystones to merge their universes together, with the heroes from both universes teaming up to stop them. Except in my version, the Marvel characters are replaced with Arrowverse characters and the Capcom characters replaced with Rare characters. And the villains playing the role of Ultron-Sigma are known other than Savitar and Mizar.

In other words, Barry keeps fucking everything up, even when it's ''not even the same Barry!" tongue

And I do, more or less, know what characters I'm going to use for the other roles (barring me changing my mind, of course.) So, is this something people would be interested in reading?

Also I need some quest votes, por fabor. Thanks.
