     Season 1

The Horrible Test Flight of Doom

  • Dib tries to expose Zim's latest evil plan to the class. Zim counters this by lamely claiming that he was raising money for orphaned baby piranhas, which he thinks are birds.
  • When GIR first shows up, he’s covered in pudding for some reason. We never get an explanation for this.
  • The reason Skoodge can't come along when Zim chases after Dib — he needs to stay behind and clear out an infestation of mutant gerbils. Zim bluntly tells him that he'll probably end up needing to replace most of his skin.
  • When Dib flees from the airborne confrontation with Zim, Zim gloats for a moment before remembering to chase after him.
  • The Spittle Runner crashes through a giant billboard which reads "Welcome To Bransloatia, Home Of The World's Biggest Signs".
  • Norlock bluntly admits he pirates internet and cable for his castle.
  • Dib is surprised that the best name Norlock could come up with for his pet giant wolf was "Phil".
    • Dib tricks Phil into helping him escape by promising him some ham. When he can't produce some upon being freed, he points to something behind Phil and then runs when Phil's distracted. It takes Phil five minutes to realize he's looking at a blank wall.

Parent Teacher Redux

  • Phil arrives at Zim's base and knocks the door down right on top of Skoodge, walking over him when entering.
  • Skoodge's poor attempt at being intimidating:
Dib: […] I know that you're never this happy around Skool unless you're planning something. And I'm not going to rest until I find out what it is and stop you.
Skoodge: Joke's on you, Dib-Human. We haven't actually come up with a plan yet! …That sounded more like a boast in my head.
Zim: Skoodge, be silent and leave the evil gloating to the professionals!
  • Norlock rises dramatically out of his coffin… and smacks his head against a low-hanging pipe in the roof of the storage closet Zim put him in.
  • Zim revealing he keeps cows in his basement to experiment on.
  • Norlock's first meeting with the Robo-Parents:
Robo-Dad: Hello son. Did you have a nice trip to the potato factory?
Robo-Mom: Here dear, have some meatloaf. (backhands Robo-Dad in the face with a frying pan)
  • Dib is going into a rant about how he's keeping an eye out for Zim and won't be caught off guard, when Zim suddenly appears right behind him.
  • Professor Membrane casually suggesting that he repeatedly dropped Dib on his head as an infant.
  • While she might have just been sarcastically mocking him, Jessica seems confused when Dib insists that Zim and Skoodge are aliens but that their "grandfather" is a vampire.
  • After a rant by Zim that makes no sense, Dib asks if he even listens to himself. Skoodge admits that he thinks Zim just tunes in and out, before cheerfully promising to say something nice at Dib’s funeral and walking away.
  • Norlock mentions that it was his idea for Caligula to make his horse a Senator, though he admits they were both blind drunk at the time and he didn't think Caligula would actually do it.
  • Gaz tries to hire Norlock to feed on her teacher because his cheerfulness annoys her. Norlock counters that that much cheerfulness might make him burst into flame.
  • Norlock is dumbfounded when he manages to hypnotize Mrs. Slunchy into unconsciousness in seconds, when it usually takes several minutes.
  • Norlock flirting with Miss Bitters upon meeting her, much to the shock and disgust of Zim and Skoodge.
    • Then there's this bit, when Norlock asks how his "grandsons" are doing in her class:
Miss Bitters: Skoodge is a sycophantic idiot, and Zim is a moronic lunatic.

The Hideous Returning Girl

  • Dib is incredulous when Zim actually takes offense at Tak wanting revenge on him instead of Zim.
  • Zim rants so long about Tak to the Tallest that Purple falls asleep standing up.
  • Zim and Norlock are utterly nonchalant to Phil trying to eat Skoodge.
  • When BS-ing about why they "can’t" stop Tak from also trying to conquer Earth at the same time as Zim, Purple holds up what he calls the "Tallest Law Book", which is actually just a fast food takeout menu.
  • Tak tries to reclaim the Spittle Runner, only for it to violently malfunction and eject her, sending her flying across the city. Dib can only stare at this in disbelief, before deciding to call this a win and go to bed.

GIR and Phil's (and Minimoose's) Excellent Adventure

  • The Running Gag of poor Minimoose getting literally dragged along by GIR and repeatedly slammed into things, causing his lasers to go off and blow things up.
  • GIR cheerfully states that Phil ate a hobo.
  • This Shout-Out to Ed, Edd n Eddy when GIR is trying to stop Phil from eating MIMI:
GIR: Puppy, come back! Don't eat the kitty! If you do, her mistress will get mad and tell Master, and Master will tell Mr. Vampire, and Mr. Vampire will say 'not now, I just got home from work’!
  • After Phil gets hit by a car (doing more damage to it than him):
Driver: I’m okay! The airbags worked!
Minimoose's lasers hit the car and blow it up.
    Driver: Less okay!
  • Nny's casual reaction to the sight of MIMI running through the skool, with Phil in pursuit and dragging GIR and Minimoose with him.
  • MIMI switches into blue-eyed mode while in the cafeteria, and hallucinates some spilled meat as turning into people and inviting her to play with "them".
  • Dib apparently once got caught breaking into a zoo. He claims he was hunting a chupacabra that was feeding on the animals in the petting zoo.
  • GIR pulling a Duck Season, Rabbit Season routine on Dib to get him to insult his own head.
  • After Minimoose blows up MacMeaties, Dib's only reaction is to note that he'll probably be blamed for it, before he quickly leaves the area.
  • At the end of the chapter, GIR and Minimoose are right back where they started, sitting on the couch and watching the Scary Monkey Show. Minimoose, perhaps seeing the absurdity in this, face plants.

Dib and the Library of Doom

  • Dib's exasperation at why the senior Swollen Eyeball agents won't let him access the Network's library.
Dib: Let Me Get This Straight.... You won't grant me access to the journal until I present proof of Norlock's existence. But the only way I can get that proof and live to tell about it is if I beat him, which I can't do unless I have the journal. Which I can't have unless I beat him?!
Agent Nessie: Circular logic's a bitch, isn't it?
  • The narration acknowledges Dib's "admittedly flimsy" justification for breaking into the library.
  • Dib trying to explain to Ms. Bookman why he needs to get into the library vault, only to realize immediately afterwards that it doesn't sound believable at all.
  • Dib growing increasingly frustrated at the ridiculous, Indiana Jones-style Death Traps acting as security for the library.
    • Especially his reaction to seeing that the entrance to the vault is surrounded by a pool of lava.
"How did they manage to dig a pool of lava in the middle of a city?! There's no volcanoes nearby, and we're not that far down!"
  • While charging through a hallway that shoots darts, covering himself with a pot to protect himself, Dib starts to get an adrenaline high and reflects on things are going his way… then he runs into a wall.
  • After everything Dib goes through to get Van Helsing's journal, it turns out to be totally useless, being full of worthless anecdotes. Ms. Bookman points out that it's an old man's journal, so what did he expect?
    • Also, how Ms. Bookman gets there — it turns out that there's an elevator that leads right into the vault. To say that Dib is upset to find out there was such an easy way in is an understatement.

With Friends Like These…

  • Dib makes an offhand reference to a Radioactive Macaroni scheme carried off by Zim offscreen.
  • Dib's utter disbelief at the twins being more invested in one of their arguments than saving him from Tak's giant cyborg rat monster.

Return of the Saucer Morons

  • Dib and Steve hike through the woods to reach the crash site of the Meekrob ship… only to find out that there was a road they could have followed to get there more easily.
  • To explain to Skoodge why he's never tried to recruit the Children of the Bright and Shining Saucer as collaborators, Zim merely points to the guy who wants aliens to bless the corns on his toes. Which is then followed by this:
Zim: These people are idiots even by human standards. And I have a hard enough time getting anything done without surrounding myself with morons.
GIR: (coating a squirrel with peanut butter) I'ma gonna eat this squirrel!
    Zim: Good for you.
  • The Running Gag of Yoa "translating" for the Blotch, only to admit she's mostly guessing.
  • The Children's testing for Dib and Steve's "worthiness" to reach the ship involves dragging them into a tent filled with torture devices, gym equipment, medical tools, and for some reason, a pen of livestock.
  • Zim approaches the Children disguised as a government official and claims that the Meekrob ship is radioactive and will cause explosive tumors. He then notes that that's not a bad idea and whispers to Skoodge to write it down for later use.
    • When Desmond Flapp asks Zim if he thinks the Children are stupid, Zim gives a Blunt "Yes" in response.
  • The very first example of Zim being unable to remember either of the twins' names takes it up a notch compared to further down the line, as he doesn't even remember encountering them in the previous chapter, even when Steve spells it out for him.
  • The Children all whip out Torches and Pitchforks to chase Dib and Steve, leading to this exchange:
Dib: Question logic later, run now!
  • Skoodge apparently once mangled a greeting in Vortian into "I would like to fill your pants with shrimp".
Zim: …Huh, I always wondered why that waitress slapped you.
  • Tak is shocked to find that the code to open the Meekrob ship's door is "open the door". She decides to give them the benefit of a doubt and assume that it was meant to be too obvious to use.
  • Dib isn't entirely impressed with Steve's makeshift blasters, noting that one of them is marked "Made in Taiwan" (as Steve salvaged some parts from a junkyard).
  • Dib and Steve try to charge into the fight between the Irkens over the ship's memory cores, only to slip and slide down the crystalline ramp and slam into Skoodge, knocking him off the platform they’re all on.
  • Zim and Skoodge's dumbfounded reaction to Tak stealing the latter's ship.

Clash of the Goths

  • A bit of Black Comedy — when Gaz accidentally spills Nny's mop bucket over herself and freaks out over it, he's confused at her reaction, because that wasn't the bucket he uses to clean up blood.
  • One of Viera's pranks against Gaz involves magically dressing her up as a clown.
  • Dib walks in on the aftermath of Gaz and Viera's fight, leaving him completely confused. His bewilderment isn't helped any by Viera's casual dismissal of the situation.

Dib the Dreamwalker

  • Dib enters Gaz's dream and is surprised to find himself in a sunny field, then outright shocked to find her wearing a girly dress and having a tea party with living stuffed animals. Around the time these animals drag a screaming Gaz off for a makeover, he realizes that this is her version of a nightmare.
  • Viera's dream has her a superhero in a Batman (1966)-style setting, complete (to Dib's surprise) with sound effect bubbles.
  • Steve's dream is just him standing in a void, playing with a yo-yo. Dib isn't impressed.
  • Tak's dream is the Tallest praising her… and letting a crowd of Irkens treat Zim like a piñata.
  • GIR's dream is as bizarre as you'd expect from him, featuring anthropomorphic food and animals dancing in a club. When a giant banana shows up and starts singing "Peanut Butter Jelly Time", Dib gives up and leaves.
  • Zim's dream has him ruling over Earth and tormenting Team Save Earth. Except the twins are presented as faceless blobs (due to Zim not bothering to remember anything about them), while Dib has a grotesquely huge head and talks in a nasally, high-pitched tone. And Zim's "torture" for Dream!Dib is being poked in the head repeatedly.

Tenn's Mission of Doom

  • After the Tallest tell him about Tenn's failed mission on Meekrob, Norlock asks whether they've ever managed to reestablish contact with her. This is followed by a long silence as the Tallest realize they've never even tried.
Norlock's question was greeted by total silence, as the Tallest sat there, staring at him. As this dragged on for several minutes, Norlock was sure he could here a cricket chirping somewhere.
  • When a Communications Officer informs the Tallest that they've been ignoring a distress beacon from Tenn for a year, they stare at each other awkwardly, then have the guy Thrown Out the Airlock.
  • The Meekrob seem to have made their security measures so easy at least partially on purpose, in order to lull people accessing restricted files into a false confidence. Tenn is thrown for a loop by this.
  • Tenn distracts the Meekrob guards who found her by throwing her hologram projector at one of them, which bounces harmlessly of them onto the ground. They're left staring at it in confusion for a moment.
  • The Meekrob are also caught off guard when Tenn unleashes the malfunctioning SIR Units on them.

Zim and the Garden of Evil

  • When Zim and Tak complain about the field trip being a waste of time, Miss Bitters gives them both extra credit points. Dib protests this, only to get Death Glared into submission.
  • Zim gets so caught up in an Imagine Spot that he starts acting it out, to the confusion of everyone watching him.
  • Another bit of Black Comedy involving Nny. When the Botanical Garden employee touches his shoulder in a friendly gesture, the narration notes that he ends up violently killing the guy offscreen.
  • This lovely Gilligan Cut when Zim is crowing over his newest Evil Plan idea:
    Zim: I'm a genius!
    (scene cut)
    Computer: You're an idiot.
  • When Norlock walks in on Zim experimenting with some plants:
    Norlock: I didn't realize you'd developed a green thumb.
Norlock: Right, I suppose I walked right into that one.
  • Steve protests Dib's complaints about his blasters, claiming he's worked out all the bugs… and immediately accidentally shoots a hole in the ceiling. He then sheepishly agrees with Dib's point to put a safety switch on it.
    • Later, after blasting one of the plant monsters, he smugly celebrates, only to accidentally fire another shot into the ceiling.
Steve: …Hope Dib blames the plants for that.
  • Dib can't believe people are more scared of the team than the plant monsters. Steve notes that it may have to do with the BFG that Dib is carting around, which Dib got from his dad's anti-Santa arsenal. Viera has trouble computing that last comment.
  • After the plants turn on Zim, Skoodge ends up buried under a pile of debris. Neither Zim nor the humans care, and leave him behind.
Skoodge: Hello? Zim? Dib? Other humans? I'm stuck under here. A little help, please? Anybody? […] I think my spine's broken.
  • In response to being attacked, the Central Root splits open to reveal a gaping maw. Zim casually comments that he doesn't remember designing it to do that.
  • It turns out that the Central Root spits acid. When asked why he would make it capable of doing that, Zim seems confused as to why he wouldn't.
  • After the Central Root is destroyed, Zim tries to claim that his plan all along was to use it to destroy Dib's weapon (which was sacrificed to destroy the Root). As he's in the middle of gloating over this, Tak hits him in the back of the head with a rock, knocking him out.

Norlock vs the Mall

  • Norlock claims that he's a ladies man, but then reveals that he hasn’t had a date since the Peace of Westphalia.
  • Skoodge is still in a full body cast from the events of the previous chapter. And despite him being completely immobile and speechless because of this, Zim acts as if he's still normal.
  • GIR's heartbroken reaction when Norlock destroys the TV in a fit of anger… only to immediately snap out of it when Zim gets his attention.
  • Team Save Earth are left dumbfounded when Norlock brushes right past them to get into an argument with the Sunset convention fans.
  • Zim completely fails to understand what Steve's talking about when he calls Zim a Troll.
Dib: (to Steve) Don't bother. Trust me, trying to explain human terminology to him is a long road to a dead end. It's not worth the headache.
  • Dib and Steve can't believe that Viera is actually eating some of the popcorn GIR brought for Zim while they're watching Norlock go after the convention. Which doesn't stop Steve from having some too later on.
  • Zim's odd reaction when he doesn't like something Steve said:
Zim: Lies! You lie, Not-Dib! From your filthy mouth full of deceit and, um, pork!
Steve: I'm… not eating any pork.
Zim: Shut your filthy mouth full of corn, Not-Dib!
Steve: Okay, before you said my mouth was full of pork, now it's corn? It's bad enough none of your insults make sense, but couldn't you at least keep them consistent?
  • Everyone questioning how over the top Slab Rankle is.
    • After he gives a quasi-Patriotic Fervor speech, while a flag waves behind him, Norlock questions where it came from. Apparently, Rankle had retractable flags hidden all over the Mall, just in case.
    • Rankle's zombie security force is, if anything, even less effective than it was in canon. Viera notes one in particular that is walking repeatedly into a wall.
    • After Rankle sends Norlock flying into the Sunset stars (apparently not caring what happens to them), he starts monologuing to himself about receiving Presidential commendations. Norlock then counterattacks by tossing the actors (and their whole table) at him; Rankle shatters the table and sends the actors flying into the crowd of their fans, who proceed to go feral on them.
    • When Rankle pulls out his final security measure, Norlock sarcastically asks if it's something stupid like radioactive gerbils. Rankle admits that's not a bad idea, with Zim agreeing with him.
    • It turns out that this final measure is Norlock being sealed in a rocket and launched out of the Mall. Dib is more than a little confused by this.
Dib: Wait, wait, wait. Okay, so I can sort of understand the robot tendrils, and the lasers, and maybe even the zombies. But why in the world would you have a giant rocket underneath where that stage was? Were you planning on launching it the whole time, even before Norlock showed up? Why was that there?!

It Came From the Sky

  • Like Zim before her, Tenn's ship is brought crashing out of the sky by a bee.
  • Steve lampshades the fact that yet another alien has come to Earth.
Steve: Are we sitting in some big sign that says 'Please Invade Here’?
  • When Team Save Earth comes across Tenn's crashed ship, Dib starts excitedly taking pictures, only for Viera to point out that he left the lens cap on his camera. Then, Steve brings up the rather obvious point that they should be more focused on capturing the newly crashed alien rather than stopping to take pictures.
  • Team Save Earth aren't impressed when the group of Men in Black that show up turn out to work for an organization whose name has "CREAM" as an acronym. The agent who reveals this awkwardly explains that they didn’t check out how it looked when written down until after they'd trademarked it.
  • Phil and MIMI recognize each other, with her having an Oh, Crap! reaction to seeing him and running off, while he immediately gives chase.
    Norlock: …Well, that happened.
  • Tenn is completely baffled by the stupidity and insane theories put forward by Bill and the other CREAM agents, to the point that her initial reaction is to wonder if she's crashed into a mental hospital.
    • Later, in a spoof on Aliens Speaking English, Tenn finally snaps after having to hear their various attempts to communicate with her and shocks them by revealing she already understands them. The agents all assume she's reading their minds and flee in a panic, to her surprise.
  • Bill channeling Hoss Delgado during his first encounter with Team Save Earth:
Bill: I've seen things that would give you nightmares for life! I've fought mole men living underneath the State Capital building! I've hunted were-elk across the tundra! I've faced off with eight-foot tall zombie elves!
Viera: Wait, hold on. How can they have been elves if they were eight feet tall?
Bill: It was a leap year.
  • Bill is so focused on fighting Norlock that he has no problem telling the Irkens where he's keeping Tenn.
  • Zim demands that Tenn grovel in thanks for him coming to rescue her, trying to stand up taller to look intimidating in the process. Since Tenn just escaped by herself, and also happens to be about six inches taller than Zim, she's not impressed.
  • Bill hides from Norlock in a panic room whose door reads "Definitely Not A Vampire Panic Room". He mentally notes that he's sure even Zim wouldn't go with something that obvious, then amends that to being mostly sure.
  • After Norlock easily beats all of Bill's folklore-based means of countering vampires, he resorts to throwing cheese at him, on the "logic" of vampires being weakened by the color yellow. Norlock has to point out that he's thinking of Green Lantern.
  • Zim snapping at Skoodge for being Mr. Exposition, and then accidentally revealing the existence of the Meekrob crystal and Project Domination to the humans, to Tak and Tenn's exasperation.
  • This wonderful example of A Rare Sentence when Zim is yelling at Norlock for accidentally shattering the crystal:
Norlock: Don't blame me! This wouldn't have happened if your moose hadn't electrocuted me! (beat) Wow, that's a sentence even I've never had a reason to say before.
  • After the CREAM facility is destroyed, Bill gives a heroic monologue about how his quest for the truth will continue… much to the confusion of the paramedics loading him into an ambulance. They decide he's delusional from pain and sedate him.

Tenn Meets World

  • As Zim, Tak and Tenn are arguing over who's the best Invader, Skoodge points out that Larb was officially declared such in the last Invader newsletter.
    Tak: What?!
    Tenn: When?
  • Tenn decides to drown her sorrows over her situation at a diner, only with soda and doughnuts instead of liquor. Though the dialogue still plays out like you’d expect at a bar.
Bartender: Miss, that's the fifth Poop Cola Deluxe you've had. I think you've had enough.
Tenn: I'll tell you when I've had enough!
  • Skoodge gives Tenn some heartfelt advice on how to cope with her situation. She thanks him — not for the advice itself, since she finds it "sad and stupid" but because she feels that if he can survive working with Zim, then he's proving that she can handle working with Tak.
  • Norlock's completely casual reaction to the energy storm Tak accidentally unleashed on Doomsville.

Beach Trip of Doom

  • The reason field trips at the skool are mandatory? The more students go, the more of a tax write-off it is.
  • After Sara makes fun of her, Tak makes her jump out a window. While everyone stares at said window, Tak keeps talking as if nothing happened.
    • Miss Bitters doesn't care about the alleged health condition Tak tries to use to get out of the beach trip.
Miss Bitters: As I said, it's mandatory. And your health problems don't matter, as the skool is not liable for any harm that comes to its students.
    Dib: That… doesn't sound right.
Miss Bitters: Be quiet, Dib, no one cares what you think!
  • Zim decides to make the most of the trip to the beach and blow stuff up, only to find that GIR snuck along and replaced the missiles with jelly jars.
    • GIR also randomly fills his head with fish, attracting a bunch of seagulls that Zim then has to fight off.
  • Zim realizing he didn't think through how to actually catch the sea hydra he just attacked.
  • Dib lampshading the fact that a demon sea hydra is just a little over the top.
  • When Squidman shows up and Zim explains his origin, Skoodge asks why Zim didn't just wipe his memory instead of swapping the man's brain with a squid's. Zim’s confusion makes it clear this never occurred to him.
    • Viera calling out Squidman's special spear, which is the only thing capable of killing the hydra, as a Deus ex Machina, and asking why he didn't use it before they fought it. Squidman admits he dropped the ball on that one.
    • After Squidman destroys the hydra, causing it to explode, he tries to give a heroic speech, only to realize he's forgotten most of it.
    • When the hydra explodes, one of the pieces hits Zim and sends him flying. By sheer bad luck, he crashes into the Bloaty's where Gaz is about to have her lunch, and smashes her pizza. The chapter then ends with her presumably giving him a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown.

Halloween Horror Spectacular

  • When Jessica insults her for not liking Halloween, Tak makes her kick herself in the face. As usual, everyone stares for a moment, then ignores it and moves on.
  • Zim's complete paranoia after what happened in the canonical Halloween episode, which makes him act even more over the top than usual.
    • His defenses for his base against the Halloweenies include stacking every piece of furniture in the house against the door and chaining the Robo-Parents to it (which they don't seem to mind). Norlock casually tosses this barricade aside when leaving the base.
  • Dib's idea of a costume? Dressing up as Zim. Mostly so that if Zim shows up and sees him, he'll be either freaked out or annoyed.
    • Zim does end up seeing Dib in the costume, and is only a little perturbed to be told it's meant to be him:
Zim: Zim is not that ugly!
  • This Shout-Out to Jackie Chan Adventures, after Zim calls the outfit Norlock is wearing in the cemetery a dress:
    Norlock: It's not a dress, it's a sorcerer's ceremonial gown!
    Skoodge: Isn't a gown a dress?
    Norlock: No!
  • Norlock gives a brief speech crowing about how terrifying the monsters he's summoned are… and then GIR points out one that's just a giant head with vestigial limbs attached. Norlock concedes that some of them are just random bits of chaotic energy given physical form.
  • As Norlock's monster summoning is a result of Zim calling him useless, afterwards he asks for an apology, which goes about as well as you'd expect:
Norlock: Well now, I believe someone is owed an apology.
Zim: Yes, yes, Zim accepts your apology.
Norlock: You accept- what do I have to apologize for? You called me useless!
Zim: Because you were. But now you've proven that you're somewhat more useful than I thought you were, and have therefore made up for being so useless before.
Norlock: That's going to be the best I can expect, isn't it?
  • The twins are less than impressed upon meeting Mortos, with Viera in particular asking why he keeps shouting his name.
    • When Dib attempts to ask for his help fighting Norlock's monsters, Mortos tries to get Dib to buy him cotton candy. Dib, naturally, refuses.
    • As Team Save Earth are surrounded by monsters, Mortos completely kills the tension by walking up and asking Dib to pay for the ice cream he just bought. Even the monsters stare at him in confusion.
Dib: Are you kidding me? I specifically said that I wasn't going to pay for things for you this time!
Mortos: I thought you just meant cotton candy?
  • GIR doing a Michael Jackson's Thriller Parody, with zombies acting as the backup dancers.
  • A bit of Black Comedy — a few chapters ago, Norlock said that he could kill someone and waltz their corpse down the street without being noticed. Here, he actually does so.
  • Zim threatens to make Mortos eat his own legs. Norlock claims that he's actually done that to people.
  • Dib tossing the pipe he's using as a weapon into Zim's face.

The Game Changes

  • Senior gives a rather somber statement about Tempting Fate… then admits that he was quoting a fortune cookie he once got.
    • When Purple asks why they keep Senior around despite his sass, he points out because he's the best at what he does, but also because they needed someone to fill the post after they tossed the last guy out the airlock.
  • Purple sarcastically asks if Zim's planning to unleash a flock of flesh-eating seagulls. Zim admits that's not a bad idea.
  • When Team Save Earth enter Zim's base, already trashed from Tak and Tenn breaking in, the broken Robo-Mom grabs Viera's ankle:
Robo-Mom: Well hi there, sweetie. Want some cookies?
(buzzsaws pop out of Robo-Mom's head, Viera panics and blows her up)
Robo-Dad: I love what you've done with your hair, honey!
  • Informed by the Computer that the base has no internal defenses on the lower levels, Zim angrily demands to know what idiot decided that was a good idea. Then ignores the Computer when it points out that he was the one to design the base.
  • The Robot Gopher from "The Girl Who Cried Gnome" is one of the experiments Zim unleashes to fight off Tak and Tenn, and actually manages to be one of the most effective, knocking out Tenn by randomly opening a space-time portal near her.
    • Nick, the boy with the Happiness Probe in his head, is another of the experiments released, with his presence completely confusing Tak.
  • Purple gets completely drunk from only two-and-a-half drinks, and is left rambling incoherently and spouting out random insults at Zim and Skoodge. And while this takes a dark turn as he finally tells Zim the truth about his mission, right after this serious scene he's shown to have passed out on a console, to the annoyance of the technicians manning it.
  • After the last fight at the City Cesspool, GIR leaves by walking right off the ledge, which leads to him slamming right into Skoodge on the street below. Minimoose then comes down and picks them both up before casually floating away.

Gaz vs the Gamers

  • One of the SMOG members contacting another and sending a message in Spy Speak… which his counterpart fails to understand, having not studied the code phrases beforehand.
  • Gaz's disbelief at the incompetence displayed by the SMOG members as they bumble their way through abducting her. She's clearly more embarrassed than angry at how they managed to get the drop on her despite this.
    • She also points out that "SMOG" is a terrible acronym for a secret society of gamers.
  • Iggins' canonical Unexplained Recovery is acknowledged here, with him admitting even he's surprised he's alive.
  • Gaz repeatedly shooting down Iggins' attempts to gloat or monologue.
  • The various game parodies that Gaz and Iggins go through.
  • After winning the competition and usurping Iggins' place as Grandmaster of Gaming, Gaz helpfully points out to the other SMOG members that she wouldn't have had to beat them all up if Iggins hadn't ordered them to bring her to him. The SMOG members pause to think about this, then proceed to mob Iggins.

Showdown of Doom, Part 1

  • In a Call-Back to the Halloween Episode, Zim mentions the "dress" that Norlock was wearing. Norlock's still not amused by the comparison.
  • Zim's brilliant idea for an alias for his revolutionary alter ego? Miz. Though his reasoning for this is actually rather clever.
  • Steve questions why the Doomsville sewers are so big. At first, Dib is able to explain this away by citing how old they are, but when it's later shown that portions are big enough for an entire city made of trash and inhabited by hobos, it's acknowledged as ridiculous.
  • Tenn calling BS on Norlock suddenly being able to walk unaided on ceilings.
  • After the section of sewer the teams are fighting in collapses into the Hobo Town area, the robots are delayed in joining them, only arriving a few minutes later when GIR falls through the hole onto Zim.
  • Skoodge commenting on the Hobo King's Thunderdome reference:
Hobo King: For remember, two men enter, one man leaves!
Skoodge: But there's four of them. And Tak's female.
Hobo Captain: Be quiet when the King speaks!
  • Hobo Joe being immediately taken out of the fight as soon as it starts.
  • Norlock sends a group of hobos attacking him through a portal. When Tenn questions where it goes, he replies that it's supposed to send people to a hellish nightmare world but for some reason just leads to Newark. After pausing to think about this for a moment, he notes that it's the same end result.
  • GIR giving the unconscious Hobo King a makeover. In the process he ends up triggering Tenn's PTSD, and while she's running away from him, she grabs Skoodge and throws him in GIR's direction, but misses and hits Minimoose instead.
  • Dib finally managing to get the Spittle Runner working by hitting it. He's dumbfounded that worked.
  • Zim vents his frustrations over losing the crystal by trashing his base, which includes tossing the Robo-Parents through a window. It's noted that they don't seem to mind.

Showdown of Doom, Part 2

  • Viera isn't impressed that Steve's reaction to Tak and Tenn doubling back to confront their ship in midair is to complain about Tak destroying the bug he worked hard to design and plant on MIMI.
  • Zim has Norlock play Ride of the Valkyries as mood music as he makes his dramatic entrance into the aerial confrontation, only to get annoyed as it keeps playing while he's trying to talk.
  • It's noted that with so many people crammed into Zim's Voot, Skoodge is literally squeezed off to the side.
  • Everyone can only stare in utter disbelief when they see that Zim has converted his downed Voot Cruiser into a sleigh, being pulled by Phil.
  • Dib lampshading how long the riverside fight is taking.

Showdown of Doom, Part 3

  • Tenn distracts the twins by throwing GIR at Viera, with him proceeding to grab her ponytails like reigns and trying to ride her like a horse.
    • Zim and Dib later have him do the same thing to Norlock (specifically, Norlock in his One-Winged Angel form) in order to distract him.
  • When Zim "kills" Norlock in his Lotus-Eater Machine, he dissolves into ichor while saying "what a world".
  • Steve's Lotus-Eater Machine is of him being an Expy of Captain Kirk, while Viera's has her as a Sailor Moon-like Magical Girl Warrior. Dib is in utter disbelief of both of these.
    • While trying to snap Viera out of her illusion, she grabs Dib and slams him into the ground.
    • Viera quickly agreeing to not asking about how Dib became an expert at the Dream Walker spell in exchange for him not asking about her dream illusion, with her quickly saying they should never speak of it again.
  • While MIMI snaps Tak and Tenn out of their dream illusions by means of rebooting their PAKs, Minimoose and GIR are more direct with Skoodge and Zim — Minimoose zaps Skoodge with electricity, while GIR just bites hard on Zim's hand.
  • Dib explains a plan to deal with Phil, which Zim naturally claims credit for.
Dib: What? It was my… no, never mind, not going down this road.
  • How does Tak get Phil's attention for the trap set for him? She sprays Skoodge with BBQ sauce so that Phil will chase him.
  • Zim stabs Norlock in the stomach because he thinks that's where vampires have their hearts. As he explains it, vampires eat blood, blood goes through the heart, so why wouldn't the heart be in the stomach?
Dib: Huh, that… actually kind of makes sense when you think about-
Tak: Would you two shut up and help me kill him already?!
  • When Dib finds Zim cowering behind Project Domination during the fight with Norlock's One-Winged Angel form, Zim spontaneously denies hiding, even though Dib didn't say anything about it.

End of the Beginning

  • What happened to Phil after he was launched out of the Project Domination ship? He ended up with the Children of the Bright and Shining Saucer, who adopted him as their new prophet after he ate the Blotch. And then he starts to eat one of the cult members during a Mysterious Mysteries interview, leading to the show cutting to a "technical difficulties" sign.
  • How karma bites Gaz in the ass for her decision to sell out Team Save Earth to Zim. When it doesn't have the result she wanted, she decides to sabotage the Spittle Runner just to spite them… which leads to her being electrocuted, followed by the ship's security systems launching her through the air in a capsule, crashing into the skool. And while she's lying passed out in a pile of rubble, Miss Bitters orders Nny to make her clean it up when she wakes up.

     Season 2

New Doom, Same as the Old Doom

  • The list of Noodle Incidents that occurred during the Time Skip between Season 1 and Season 2 includes a sentient mutant zucchini monster.
  • Dib's epic Spit Take when Gaz calls Viera his girlfriend.
  • The Tallest getting into an argument over the proper pronunciation of "caramel". According to Senior, they've been doing this for years.
  • It turns out that Zim's ridiculous attempt at an alias actually works, with only Tak realizing he's Miz, to her exasperation.
  • Nyx is so excited to meet Zim that she literally throws herself at his feet, speaking rapid fire about what a big fan she is, and even starts drooling. Zim is understandably confused.
    • Nyx states that for the first week after her PAK was fried, everything tasted yellow.
    • After Nyx explains how she figured out that Zim is Miz, he needs a moment to decipher what she just said.
    • Nyx is completely casual about being imprisoned for knowing too much, which deflates Zim's mood a bit.
    • The Computer is stunned when Nyx dislocates her arm in order to break free, remaining just as casual despite the pain.
  • Zim has Minimoose attack Tak and Tenn's Conversion Engine, only for the attack to have no effect, leaving Zim's team staring awkwardly at the machine for a moment.
  • Skoodge tries to get GIR to help in the fight, only to find he's busy messily eating fried chicken. He decides to not bother trying, and moves on.
  • Zim, Dib, and Tak all still managing to exchange insults and threats even while throttling each other.
  • Nyx helping herself to popcorn while watching the park fight.
  • Tenn is incredulous that Nyx bites her in order to break free of a chokehold.

New Girls and Explosions

  • When trying to prove that Nyx is his sister, Zim gives her a hug, though it's described as him clearly having no idea how hugs work.
    • And then, when called out on where Nyx has been this whole time if she’s his sister, Zim claims she was part of an exchange program in Tibecuador. And "proves" that it's a real country by quickly pasting a post-it note to a globe; Steve questions why he just happened to have that on him.
  • Nyx befriending Gaz (due to a shared love of video games) is so shocking that most of the student body treats it like a sign of the apocalypse and flee the skool.
  • Ying gives a heartfelt speech about why he's so loyal to Nyx… and then GIR kills the mood by walking in with his pig friend, the two proceeding to make a mess all over the base. Ying, who just cleaned the base, gives an Eye Twitch.
    • In response to this, Ying sticks GIR in a plastic ball to keep him from making anymore messes. GIR seems quite pleased with this.
    GIR: I'm a hamster.
  • Nyx giving Zim some advice to try and snap him out of his funk:
Nyx: Ying, what do I always say?
Nyx: What? No… well, yeah, but I meant the other thing.
    Ying: 'Boom'?
Nyx: No! The other other thing!
  • Tak and Tenn somehow getting into an argument over whether Zim or Nyx is a worse threat.
Tenn: I mean, at least Zim's somewhat subtle most of the time-
Tak: Zim wouldn't know subtle if it punched him in the face.
  • To Zim's surprise, Nyx has programmed Ying with detailed criteria for judging the "awesomeness" of explosions.
  • Zim tries to use Nyx's minigun, but the recoil knocks him over and ends up damaging his mech's controls to the point of making it unusable.
  • After Zim is defeated and he, Nyx and Ying are sent flying away, Team Save Earth consider using the ruins of his mech as evidence… only for it to be vaporized in an explosion seconds later.

The Hunt of Doom

  • Arachnos, the first bounty hunter who comes after Dib, leaves a series of snare traps across the forest he's currently in. Unfortunately for her, these traps capture pretty much everything but Dib — bugs, birds, various woodland animals, and even Bigfoot. And then one trap captures a guy on a motorbike, which causes Arachnos to snap and start tearing things out of her traps, but this just causes the motorbike to slam into her ship and blow her up.
    • Afterwards, it turns out that the guy on the bike was somehow left stuck to Bigfoot's back, with the pair left wandering the woods looking for someone to pry him free. Naturally, they pass right through where Team Save Earth were waiting in hiding for Bigfoot, right after they leave the area.
    • A piece of Arachnos' blown up ship lands in front of Team Save Earth. And before they can try and take it for study, it blows up again for no apparent reason.
  • The second bounty hunter, Ma'lack, tries to use Super-Speed to obliterate Dib, but keeps overshooting him by happenstance. The first time, he ends up slamming into a dumpster; the second time, he crashes into the kitchen, where in a bit of Black Comedy the staff are all completely casual about his presence and how Nny ends up dragging him away for torture.
  • Some more Black Comedy — the third bounty hunter, Syrax, breaks into the Membrane house to lay in wait for Dib, but accidentally enters Gaz's room and is promptly attacked by her security dolls. They're later shown dumping his remains in the trash on the sidewalk.
  • Mr. Dwicky returns, having become a bounty hunter after "a series of thrilling adventures" in space, much to Dib's surprise.
  • A minor one, but Havok mentions that he was expecting Zim to be shorter. Which is a pretty solid burn considering the Irkens' belief in the connection between height and competence.
  • Havok takes Dwicky out of commission right before the big fight, and he doesn't show up again until right after Dib has just seemingly killed Havok by causing his ship to fall off a roof and explode.
    Dwicky: …What'd I miss?
  • Only after Dwicky has left the planet again does it occur to Team Save Earth that they could have asked him to provide them with something they could use as proof of the existence of aliens. Dib can only groan and bury his face in his hands.

Career Day 2 — The Interning

  • For some reason, the career evaluation robot does so by performing retinal scans. When Dib questions how that can possibly work, Miss Bitters snaps at him to shut up.
  • Zim starts crowing about how his Character Development since the last Career Day means he's sure to get a better job placement… and in the middle of a sentence, he's cut off and informed he's being assigned as a fast food manager.
    • One he gets to MacMeaties, Zim tries to make the most of it, only to find he's being shoved in an "office" (really a repurposed closet) and forced to do paperwork. While grueling through it, he notes that a small part of him feels bad for Sizz-Lorr… a small part that he then "clubbed, stabbed, shot, set on fire and threw out an airlock" because he doesn't want to feel bad for his former employer/tormentor.
    • Then, it turns out that all that paperwork was just practice for the real thing. Zim promptly goes wild, rampaging through the restaurant before finding himself outside and in the middle of a riot caused by all the events from elsewhere in the chapter mixing together. He then decides to call it a day and go home.
  • After Tak hacks the evaluation robot to get the job she wants (namely being assigned to Deelishus Weenie, which she owns), it malfunctions and zaps Skoodge in the eye with a more powerful than normal scan beam.
    • Tak tries to make use of her assignment to plot further, only to be interrupted as one of the company employees accidentally recreates the Ham Demon. Tak naturally fires the guy, and then brainwashes him to run into traffic.
  • Nyx is less than pleased about being assigned to a paint factory.
Nyx: What am I supposed to learn in a dump like that, anyway?
Nyx: Don't point out the obvious while I'm complaining about something!
    • When she gets to the paint factory, she’s dumbfounded that her assignment is to literally watch paint dry and time how long it takes. She eventually gets bored and wanders off, eventually finding a room where rat people are used as slave labor and freeing them.
  • Dib is assigned to a scientific research center, only to find that it's run by Bill, who proceeds to tie him up because he's convinced that they keep crossing paths because Dib is spying on him. He then tries to prove this by pulling out a String Theory board based entirely on his Insane Troll Logic. Dib, understandably, states that This Is Gonna Suck.
    • When we cut back to them later, Dib has fallen asleep from listening to Bill and gets slapped awake, with Bill saying he's going to have to start over.
Dib: Oh come on, can't you just torture me instead?
    • Upon learning about the rampaging Ham Demon, Bill concludes that it's an invader from an alternate universe where humans evolved from ham instead of apes. Dib is left rolling his eyes when the other CREAM agents take this seriously.
  • Steve's assignment is to be a gofer at a bland corporate office. The first we see of this, he's being shown the vast number of water coolers that the office has, in order to keep employees from dehydrating; to Steve's shock, he's shown the skeleton of a former employee who died from exactly that, still left slumped over in its cubicle.
    • Steve is incredulous that the company's big product that they're working towards is a new kind of paper clip.
  • Viera is assigned to be a personal assistant to a D-list actress, and is left stunned by how incredibly diva-ish and petty the woman is. Also, said actress is completely unable to remember her name, cycling through every other name that starts with a "V". And then "Rebecca", which as Viera notes doesn't even fit the pattern.
    • Said actress later turns out to be some kind of banshee, transforming into her true form when angry at Viera for talking back to her. The rest of the production crew are totally blasé about this, and even casually go along with her demands to grab Viera so she can feed on her flesh.
    • Viera ends up leading the mob chasing her into the office where Steve's assignment is, and quickly fills him in on what's happening:
Viera: Oh, you know, the main actress on the movie set I was assigned to is some kind of banshee or demon or something, and I pissed her off so now she ordered the cast and crew to feed me to her, that's all.
    • To create a distraction, Steve tells the office workers that the movie crew is coming for their coffee. The office workers promptly go berserk, charging the movie crew with all sorts of weapons; one guy even uses the skeleton Steve saw as a makeshift club.
  • For some more Black Comedy, there's Skoodge being assigned to assist Nny at the skool. Poor Skoodge is forced to watch Nny give a tutorial on how to properly disembowel someone, before finally vomiting and passing out; Nny makes a note to make Skoodge clean up the mess when he regains consciousness.
  • Gaz is assigned to Game Slave headquarters, where the woman in charge, Mrs. Albertson, has anyone in violation of corporate rulings being beaten by security guards. Gaz greatly enjoys watching and encouraging this, but karma bites her later, when the rat people burst into the place and cause a mess before leaving, with only Gaz and a janitor as witnesses; the janitor proceeds to blame the mess on Gaz, leaving her to get beaten by the guards.
  • Tenn is assigned to aide Slab Rankle at the Mall, and is clearly less than impressed with his over-the-top attitude.
    • After beating up a group of rat people in the garage, Rankle says he’s going to do the only "humane" thing he can with them. Namely selling them to a big corporation as slave labor.
    Tenn: Is that legal?
Rankle: In some states. Depends on how you define 'legal'.

Rise of the Unknown Rival

  • The chapter opens with Team Save Earth recounting a recent adventure involving Tak and Tenn mind-controlling chupacabras that apparently live under an old tire factory.
    • When Agent Spider Monkey tries to dismiss the team's efforts due to lack of evidence, Dib fires back by asking what he's ever gotten evidence of, leading to this:
Spider Monkey: I'll have you know that I discovered a tribe of Tikoloshe trying to sneak into the country onboard a freighter!
Tunaghost: Hang on, didn't those turn out to just be some rare breed of monkey some rich jackass was smuggling?
Spider Monkey: None of that was ever confirmed!
  • Dib complains about not being able to get the Spittle Runner operational again. Steve suggests punching the console, like he did last time.
  • Team Save Earth are quick to call out the "Haunted House" as over the top and cliched, inadvertently getting a dig in at Spider Monkey/Quis by commenting on this.
  • After the team splits up to check one floor, Steve finds a room full on mannequins that appear to move when he's not looking. He immediately leaves the room.
Steve: I've seen enough horror movies to know how this goes, and I am not dealing with that on my own.
    • After the clown listed below shows up, Steve states that he's sure he's seen that in a movie.
    • And when they flee the clown into the basement, he asks if he's the only one here who's actually seen a horror movie.
  • A Monster Clown shows up and attacks the team… much to Quis' confusion, as he didn't put it there.
    • Naturally, it turns out to be Zim's creation, and he's convinced it'll blend right in because:
Zim: Everyone knows that abandoned houses are where clowns build their nests before they hibernate for the winter.
    Skoodge: …That doesn't sound right.
Zim: Do not question Zim's research!
  • After the team falls through the floor, Viera comments that something broke her fall. It turns out to have been Dib, who she ended sprawling on top of, to her embarrassment.
  • Grabbing an axe, the clown smashes down a door and snarls "Here's Johnny!"… and Nny, who's walking nearby, comments on it.
  • When Viera comments that the basement isn't so bad, the three all look around, expecting that to have been Tempting Fate, but nothing happens. Then after a few moments, zombies burst out of the floor.
    Dib: Yeah, that figures.

Infernal Inspection

  • Red rebukes Purple's laziness, saying he takes their responsibilities seriously. Senior then cheerfully points out that this doesn't seem to extend to doing paperwork, causing Red to snap at him.
  • A meta example: Wiyn's Mook Lieutenant is named Lieutenant Mook.
  • Dite likes dark and gritty movies, yet found Dawn of Justice to be a "nonsensical bloody mess".
  • Peech complains about how when she used to work directly under Wiyn, any mistakes were punished by being made to clean all the toilets on the Massive.
Peech: Do you guys have any idea how many toilets there are on a ship this big?!
Maht: 989,975. (everyone stares at him in surprise) I used to be a janitor before I was re-encoded as a Table Head. Take my word for it.
  • Purple decides he wants to fill a tub with chips and then bathe in them. Red and the Consulars are left dumbfounded by the sheer stupidity of this.
    • Naturally, we find out later that Purple got a rash from this, with Red rubbing this in his face.
  • Purple questioning how the cornered New Order-aligned technician got ahold of a grenade.
  • After Dite kills the technician and saves everyone from his grenade, the Tallest reward her by… giving her the rest of the day off. She's understandably nonplused by the "reward".

Through the Looking Glass

  • As Zim's group is building the Energy Harvester, Zim's instructions are less than helpful:
Zim: No, no, Zim said that those cables rotate into place clockwise!
Ying: I am turning them clockwise, sir.
Zim: I meant my clockwise, not yours!
  • Zim knows better than to ask GIR if he's going to be useful. And while talking to him, admits that he doesn't actually have a plan for what to do with the cosmic energy he's collecting, which Dib overhears and rubs in his face shortly after when he's trying to gloat. And it later turns out Tak overheard that too.
  • GIR being completely uncaring as MIMI slams him repeatedly into the ground.
  • When Tenn identifies the Negative Space Wedgie that the three teams fell through as a Smarkle Rift, Zim naturally tries to claim he figured that out already.
    • And then Tenn tries to clarify things to the humans by comparing it to a Florpus Hole, only to get blank stares in return.
Steve: Are you just making up words because you know we don't know enough about space science to tell?
  • In the middle of saying that all three teams need to work together to get back to their own universe, Dib realizes that Zim's group has already taken off to do things on their own.
  • While Skoodge is weirded out at the thought of meeting another Zim, Nyx is quite happy, saying that she's had dreams about multiple Zims before.
  • Zim is incredulous to find out that his counterpart peacefully uplifts less advanced species, but manages to keep from revealing he's a wannabe conqueror in his own universe. Mostly.
Zim: Zim loves to aid lesser species. That doesn't make me sick at all!
    • Ying is also disappointed to meet his counterpart (a lazy slob). Nyx tells him to laugh it off, only to then react rather badly to finding out that her own counterpart is a bland corporate drone.
Nyx: (being held back by Ying) Kill it! Kill it with FIRE!
    • All three Irkens are dumbfounded to find out that Skoodge's counterpart is a tall and muscular adventurer.
    • Minimoose's counterpart looks and acts exactly like him. Zim notes that some things are universal.
  • Team Save Earth are surprised to find an actual farm smack in the middle of the city, and even more so to find this universe's counterpart to Professor Membrane — a stereotypical hick farmer, complete with accent — running it. And not doing so in an efficient way, either, as he insists on giving free samples to anyone who visits. It takes Steve pointing out the flaws in this (namely, what's to stop people from just taking samples and never buying anything) for him to realize it's not a good business model.
  • The Mirror Universe Gaz turns out to be a girly-girl wearing all pink and with a sickeningly sweet personality. Team Save Earth can only stare at her in slack-jawed shock, though Viera later shifts to having to bite down on uproarious laughter which she only lets out after Anti-Gaz is out of earshot. She specifically asks the boys to remind her to take a picture to mock the main universe Gaz with.
  • Tenn isn't happy to find out that her counterpart is a laid back slacker.
  • Dib and Viera's reactions to being asked if they're a couple like their counterparts is for both of them to give a Big "NO!", then blush and look away from each other awkwardly.
    • Which they do again at the end of the chapter when Steve asks if they're going to discuss the above.
  • Nyx continues to be aggravated by her counterpart's personality, trying to get her to be more of an anarchist, only for Anti-Nyx to keep countering her efforts. She even goes so far as to help the owners of corporate buildings Nyx blows up get their insurance papers in order.
    • It gets to the point that during the fight with Team Enslave Earth, learning that Anti-Nyx is keeping track of damages in order to pay for them leads to Nyx snapping and vaporizing her, only to find out after the battle that Anti-Nyx uses a series of Expendable Clones to sustain herself. This is enough to send Nyx into a screaming fit of mindless rage and frustration.
  • Anti-Zim and Anti-Tak being caught off guard and left utterly scandalized to learn that their main universe counterparts are villains.
  • While Anti-Dib breaks out a Mini-Mecha and Anti-Viera surrounds herself with the flaming silhouette of a demonic harpy, Anti-Steve just flexes his large muscles. Steve comments that that's mildly disappointing.
    • Anti-Steve proceeds to give a speech about how not using his "thinky part" (his brain) makes him the strongest there is. Ying proceeds to kick his ass.
  • To test if it's now possible to pass back through the Smarkle Rift, Zim punts GIR, who flies into it with a happy yell.
  • Skoodge isn't certain he grabbed the right Minimoose before returning to the main universe. Zim tells him that since they were identical it doesn't matter, which Minimoose apparently agrees with.

Space Road Trip

  • Gaz sarcastically asks Nyx if Zim is going to spend Spring Break trying to turn people into giant mushrooms.
  • Dib's annoyance at the fact that there's naturally no one around to see it when Nyx shows up in her ship to pick up Gaz in broad daylight.
  • After observing all the natural wonders of space, Gaz also notes all the billboards for roadside attractions also scattered around.
  • Gaz is in utter disbelief that carjacking parked spaceships is a thing.
  • Due to the Irken security officers not recognizing Gaz as a sentient being, instead of being arrested she's sent to a pound. She's naturally infuriated at this, especially since the animal catcher running the place — Leashlor the Relentless — is an idiot and running on Insane Troll Logic that keeps him from seeing her as anything other than an animal even though she can talk.
    • Leashlor even goes so far as to slap a collar on her and put her through a grooming process that includes forcibly cleaning her, braiding her hair and putting bows in it, and for some reason dumping glitter on her.
  • Ying's response to Grissom's Badass Boast about his control of Slumia:
Grissom: I own this planet. Nothing happens here without my say-so. And if it does, I strike down on the perpetrators like a wrathful god.
  • Leashlor's mother Tammy was apparently also known as "the Relentless". According to him, it's a family name.
  • Nyx arrives at the pound and blows open the entrance. Leashlor points out that the door wasn't locked.
    • Nyx is no more impressed with Leashlor than Gaz is, and rather than arguing with or fighting him just has Ying shift into Battle Mode and knock him out.
  • It turns out that the rival gang on Foodcourtia that Grissom needs Nyx to eliminate is for some reason themed on clowns, even calling themselves the Happy Fun Times Death Clan. Gaz and Nyx are both dumbfounded by this.
  • Before leaving Foodcourtia, Nyx takes the time to blow up Sizz-Lorr's restaurant as payback by proxy for Zim.

Battle of the Fans

  • The Running Gag of toxic fans taking Fandom Rivalry to an unhealthy extreme.
  • Viera's incredulity at Steve treating the mission to the convention like a heist movie.
  • Zim gloats about his ingenious means of getting his group into the convention, which turns out to just be having GIR grab some attendees and stealing their passes. Then said attendees are dumped in the sewer.
  • Martin G. G. Richards, a blatant Expy of George R. R. Martin, is left in utter disbelief that the convention tracked down an old shirt of his that he was wearing when he got third-degree burns from a spilled slice of pizza (which is what led to him writing his novels). Even more so that they expect him to wear it, whether he wants to or not.
    • During the chaos of the rioting convention members being turned into monster by the Ikiwikinomicon, the MC tries to make Richards fight them off. Richards instead tosses the MC to the mob and runs out the back.
  • Zim tasks GIR with finding the memorabilia vault, only for GIR to forget what he's doing and instead lead the group wandering into the subbasement. And when it turns out that the vault really is down there, Skoodge comments on how they failed to notice it sooner.
  • Zim declares his intent to sit back and simply watch the chaos of the monster rampage, until a dragon roasts him. After that, he decides to tactically withdraw.

Tournament of Doom, Part 1

  • The Irken Armada's newest battleship is called Dreadnut instead of Dreadnought, because Purple wanted to call it Donut and didn't give up until the names got merged.
  • Viera being dumbfounded at the sight of Gaz wearing the dog collar she got stuck with two chapters back.
  • Darth repeatedly pulling a Stealth Hi/Bye. The first time he does, Purple is so startled that he jumps into Red's arms. Red drops him a minute later.
  • Team Save Earth meeting the Resisty.
    Steve: 'Resisty'?
Lard Nar: It's not a stupid name, shut up!
Steve: ...I didn't say it was.
    • Lard Nar's description of Zim.
"About this tall, red eyes, huge ego, screams a lot?"
    • Dib and the twins aren't very impressed that the Resisty's master plan is to just steal back the Universe's Most Comfortable Couch. When they suggest a Decapitation Strike instead, Lard Nar is annoyed that no one in his crew came up with that, only for Ixane to point out that she did, and he ignored her.
  • After Zim uses the Exact Words of the invitation in order to force his way into the tournament, Purple blames one particular Advisor and orders him Thrown Out the Airlock. When Peech points out that they're not currently onboard a ship, Purple awkwardly looks around and orders him tossed off the roof instead.
  • The Tallest offer a million monies bonus prize for any Invader who kills Zim in the tournament... and for Skoodge, a thousand monies and a restaurant coupon.
  • Darth describing Zim's mind as a "hurricane made out of barbed wire and broken glass that's been set on fire". Everyone can only blink at the analogy.
  • The Resisty ship's cloaking system isn't working, because Spleenk unplugged it in order to plug in an espresso machine. Lard Nar swears to kill him if they don't all die.

Tournament of Doom, Part 2

  • Shloonktapooxis cries out that he can't feel his legs after the ship crashes, until Ixane points out that he never had legs to begin with, instantly calming him down.
  • When Nyx cheers for Zim, everyone in the stadium is shocked.
  • Zim winning the obstacle course race by just jumping across the u-shaped platform to the finish line. Purple blames one of the Advisors for this and has him tossed off the roof; he then complains that it's just not the same as having someone Thrown Out the Airlock.
  • During the maze round, Zim somehow deflects a teleportation beam with a rock, causing it to bounce off the drone that fired it and hit Invader Flobee instead.
  • GIR accidentally blows up part of the audience during the SIR fight. The Tallest are resigned to this, especially upon learning it wasn't anyone important in their opinion.
  • It's only after spending some time in an Air-Vent Passageway that the humans and Resisty members realize that they don't know where they're going.
Lard Nar: Spleenk, was this one of your ideas? Because I have the sudden urge to hit you.
    Spleenk: Uh, I dunno. Maybe?
  • Zim's art display is a model of his Infinite Energy Absorbing Blob eating Red and Purple, with Red shown using Purple as a shield. When Purple protests this part as unrealistic, Red gives an awkward cough and looks away.
  • Red initially thinks that they can use the above entry as an excuse to eliminate Zim, only for the announcer to say that Invader Slacks is eliminated instead, to cries of outrage from across the arena. When Red asks in disbelief how he could have done worse than what Zim did, the screen displays his entry... a sloppy mishmash of clay and paint with glitter and tiny cardboard pieces glued to it. Not even Slacks can figure what it's supposed to be.
  • When Mook moves in to arrest Nyx for her crimes, he shows a video of her blowing up a snack cart as an example. She says it looks nothing like her.
    • And then their standoff gets interrupted by the attempted bombing of the Tallest by the NIO.
Mook: What the flirk was that?!
  • Purple has apparently been referring to Bob as "Pootchy".
