With so many characters, it's practically inevitable that some of them would have interesting parallels and contrasts to each other. Perhaps more so than in either canon.

    Hachiman Hikigaya

  • Yukino and Hachiman are Birds of a Feather, but they contrast heavily in their social backgrounds, relationships with their families, their quirks, and long-term goals for heroism. Yukino is from a very affluent family that's tied to Endeavor (the top 2 pro-hero in the country). Her sister is also a popular up-and-comer who's landed several lucrative endorsement deals. Hachiman is more middle-class with Workaholic parents. Yukino has a very strained relationship with her older sister, resentful of how high she's climbed in the social ladder and is now determined to eventually outshine her. Haruno, for her part, is also something of a Big Sister Bully who often provokes and belittles her younger sister and is more than willing to give a Hannibal Lecture on her sister's idealism. In contrast, Hachiman adores his little sister and considers his relationship with her one of the most positive aspects of his life. Yukino's Quirk is highly versatile and combat-oriented, while Hachiman's is next-to-useless without a metric ton of backstage preparation. Finally, despite Yukino's rather selfish agenda towards her sister, she genuinely believes in the merits of heroism and wishes to be a great one in her own right. Hachiman couldn't care less about heroism and thinks it's a gigantic society-wide scam; he's only in it for his own selfish reasons.

  • Yuigahama is an optimistic and spirited girl who always tries to see the best in things. However, she has relatively low self-esteem and honestly couldn't see herself as being much of a hero despite her rather impressive Quirk. Hachiman is a cynical introvert with serious self-loathing issues and thinks he'd make a terrible hero — not only for his personality and weak Quirk but also because he thinks the whole occupation is near-suicidal.

  • Hayama is basically the exact opposite of Hachiman. Hayama's good-looking, charismatic, people-oriented, and has a very heroic quirk. However, Hachiman is noted for his determination; once he has a goal he's adequately motivated for, he will achieve it or die trying. Meanwhile, Hayama has no real goals in his training to become a hero as he only pursued it because that's what everybody expected of him. Consequently, Hayama has failed to make the kind of impact that Hachiman has had on class 1-A and has more or less faded into the background.

  • Bakugo is a loud, aggressive, and thuggish Born Winner, with an impressive combat-oriented quirk, who wants nothing less than to be the greatest pro-hero in the world. Hachiman is a stoic introvert who, at best, has a high-versatility, low-power Quirk, and no greater ambitions than to get his satisfaction, whether it be showing up everybody who didn't believe in him, or avenging his Only Friend. Beyond that, they develop an interesting understanding with each other because they are both incredibly driven individuals. Even Yukino notes that he and Bakugo are surprisingly similar in possessing excellent natural instincts and a bull-headed drive to succeed. Due to this relationship, Hachiman is the only one Bakugo seems to actually listen and defer to.

  • Yaoyorozu and Hachiman both have low-power, high-versatility Quirks that are only as effective as their intelligence, creativity, and presence of mind can make them, as well as dietary requirements to make them function properly. They also have self-confidence issues related to this, but it affects them differently. Yaoyorozu's a Teen Genius who can think up multiple solutions to a given problem at once, but that also makes her very prone to decision paralysis, which is especially bad for heroics because battle and emergency situations will rarely give her enough time for her to determinate an optimal course of action. Hachiman instead thinks his mere presence in the Heroics Course is one big fraud, which ironically makes him very effective in a crisis because he's pretty much used to working under the stress of fearing that his next mistake will finish him. For additional irony, Yaoyorozu has come to admire him for his decisiveness and effectiveness when the chips are down. In contrast, Hachiman chalks it all up to lacking the luxury of hesitation when everyone else is "the real deal" and thus so much better than him.

  • Hachiman and Midoriya both suffered discrimination due to their Quirk status but found a new lease on life and better social standings at U.A. thanks to a chance encounter with All Might. However, Midoriya suffered abuse from his peers because he was Quirkless but remained a die-hard idealist with dreams of becoming a pro-hero to emulate his idol and inspire those around him due to his Chronic Hero Syndrome and unwavering determination. Meanwhile, Hachiman did have a Quirk, but it was next-to-useless, he responded to his ostracization by becoming The Cynic, and only applied to U.A. for entirely selfish reasons; he does have some genuinely heroic instincts and can handle himself in stressful situations, but he doesn't consider himself a hero and hates the fact that he's become The Leader to his class just because he's an accidental Social Expert.

  • Monoma and Hachiman are two power copying chessmasters that usually resort to underhanded and unheroic tactics to get ahead, but with a few key differences; aside from the logistical differences in their Quirk, they both feel like their power is lacking in some way and have to rely on their brains to get any use out of them, making them both Weak, but Skilled. But while Hachiman's copy quirk effectively creates a weaker knock-off of the original, his quirk options and duration are virtually unlimited. Monoma on the other hand can wield his borrowed quirks in their original power, but as a consequence is far more limited in how many he can hold and for how long. Hachiman is a stoic and Deadpan Snarker who's charismatic enough to give rousing speeches when he needs to, was voted as the class representative by a large margin, and (unintentionally) became a source of inspiration for his classmates. Meanwhile, Monoma is a loud and obnoxious Smug Snake whose's "leadership" for his class is largely self-appointed and is The Friend Nobody Likes. Monoma is the Sitcom Arch-Nemesis who thinks of Hachiman as a rival that must be taken down a peg or three. At the same time, Hachiman sees him as just another obstacle his way.

  • Kirishima is a loud Large Ham and Boisterous Bruiser, contrasting with Hachiman's more reserved personality. While Kirishima is rather Book Dumb and opts for a Boring, but Practical approach to his Super-Toughness, Hachiman is Weak, but Skilled, and has to rely on his brains and his Awesome by Analysis by necessity if he wants his Difficult, but Awesome Quirk to do anything useful. While people like Orimoto believe Hachiman is going through a "high school reinvention" phase, Kirishima is doing just that by Becoming the Mask.

  • Both Asui and Hikigaya are brutally honest doting older siblings who had only a single friend before U.A. They're both also fairly attractive despite a noted unattractive feature (Tsuyu's face can't emote, while Hikigaya has "dead fish eyes"), and are both Jack of All Stats Heroes that lack raw power, who are most effective when working with others. However, Asui's contributions as a teammate come from her possessing high mobility and strength from her Quirk combined with a high Cooperative nature that makes her an excellent support member. Hikigaya's is due to the sheer versatility of his Quirk allowing him to take any role within a group, be it supporting, offensive, defensive, covering weaknesses, and/or enhancing strengths. Asui also possesses Nerves of Steel and is always calm no matter how dangerous the situation, while Hikigaya only appears calm, but is often secretly terrified and is simply good at acting under pressure.

  • Todoroki and Hachiman get off to a bad start, mainly because of how similar they are. They're both Byronic Heroes with poor social skills who are primarily motivated by spite. However, Todoroki is even more socially awkward than Hachiman due to his upbringing. His Quirk is better than Hachiman's in almost every way, and while Hachiman loves his father, Todoroki hates his.

  • Mineta is a Tiny Schoolboy and a shameless pervert with an underwhelming quirk who mainly wanted to be a hero for fame and to get girlfriends. Hachiman is a tall Byronic Hero with a weak quirk who has some moments of mild perversion due to being a teenage boy, but he's nowhere near Mineta's levels. They were both the lowest-scoring participants in the entrance exam, but since Hachiman did literally one point better, he got Mineta's place. They also both possess unwavering determination in achieving their goals, with Mineta resolving to bite the bullet and join the General Studies course in the slim hope of getting a spot in the hero course, and Hachiman going above and beyond to avenge his friend.

  • Saki and Hachiman are both hard-working loners with weak quirks who deeply love their siblings. However, Saki genuinely wants to pursue a career in the pro-hero business as a fashion designer. At the same time, Hachiman never bought into the idea of heroics and is only going along with it as far as it will take him towards his own personal satisfaction.

  • To Mirio. Even though they haven't properly met, Mirio does seem to be his upperclassman counterpart, probably more-so than he is for Mirdoriya. Firstly, the very nature of their Difficult, but Awesome Quirks and how they responded to it; Mirio was a born optimist who worked hard to train his unwieldy Quirk into something that made him a pro in all but name, in contrast to Hachiman who is a self-identified cynic who also had to train like Hell (and get a few lucky breaks) to get to where he is now. Mirio's Quirk is a rather straight-forward intangibility power that he has mastered to the point that he's nearly untouchable in a fight, and has plenty of tricks and fake-outs that gives him an edge of unpredictability (and has plenty of Charles Atlas Superpower to make him Strong and Skilled). Hachiman works best as a Combat and Support hero due to his high-versatility, low-power Quirk, but the sheer breadth of Quirks he has along with the knowledge he receives makes him a very formidable opponent. They're both the Mr. Fanservice, but Mirio's shirtless scenes are a result of his power and he's clearly long stopped being embarrassed by it, while Hachiman is very insecure and not-at-all prepared to be the center of that kind of attention. And in terms of personality, they're almost black and white—Mirio is an outgoing, Book Dumb, Perpetual Smiler, a Friend to All Children, and an all-around Nice Guy with a very open and approachable demeanor whose motivated by happiness. Hachiman is serious, intelligent, withdrawn, emotionally conflicted, goal-oriented to a fault, pessimistic yet very charismatic, and mainly motivated by personal vindication and revenge. They've both been touted pretty early on to be promising pro-heroes in the making, but Mirio is The Cape, while Hachiman is very much The Cowl.

    Yukino Yukinoshita

  • Yui is an optimistic Plucky Girl who wears her heart on her sleeve, while Yukino has a very guarded personality owing to the osterization she experienced because of her Quirk. Even their Animal Motifs are opposite, with Yui's dogs and Yukino's cats. However, despite the contrasts, they've developed an Odd Friendship due to Yui's friendliness and Yukino's receptiveness. Even their fighting styles are similar, requiring precise movements and agility to work effectively, with Yui's thread-springs giving her long jumps, while Yukino's background in Aikido gives her the training she needs to utilize her Super-Strength and enhanced speed.

  • Bakugo and Yukino are Born Winners with powerful combat-oriented Quirk, excellent natural and learned instincts, a talent for musical instruments (drums and guitars respectively), intelligence to spare, and deep down, they both have an Inferiority Superiority Complex to certain degrees. However, Yukino always saw her Quirk are more of a curse because it made her dangerous to be around until she got it under control. Bakugo's Quirk gave him nothing but praise and adulation his whole life, which just inflated his ego to mammoth proportions. Therefore, Yukino sees him as a brash thug, while Bakugo sees her as nothing but an ice queen. Even their powers are mirror-opposites, where Bakugo's explosions create heat that can propel him through the air or blast opponents away, Yukino creates ice in the air around her by absorbing ambient heat and converting that into strength.

  • Miura is headstrong and confidant, while Yukino is more quietly assertive. Additionally, Miura is actually interested in the business side of pro-heroism and sees that as a positive, whereas Yukino her experience with her sister has tainted that idea in her mind, and she prefers more traditional forms of heroism.

  • Ashido is a congenial Fun Personified, while Yukino is a reserved Aloof Dark-Haired Girl. Their quirks are very different - liquid vs temperature - but their fighting styles are similar, emphasizing mobility; Ashido's training in dance matched with Yukino's Aikido. They also have I Shall Taunt You tendencies, but Yukino's is more dry-cutting remarks as opposed to Ashido's zingers. Additionally, they both have budding crushes on boys in their class — Ashido has a crush on Kirishima, but Can't Spit It Out, while Yukino is still sorting out her feelings regarding Hachiman, but his ability to continually subvert her expectations has caught her interest.

  • Toru is bubbly and an all-around cutie, while Yukino is more a Troubled, but Cute. Toru overcompensates for her permanent invisibility with her attention-grabbing personality, while Yukino's Quirk and Brutal Honesty actively drove people away. Because Toru needs to be completely naked for her Quirk to be effective, she's very vulnerable to drastic temperature changes. Yukino can stick her hand into liquid nitrogen and be no worse for wear but is constantly in danger of absorbing too much heat and raising her internal body temperature to dangerous levels. Even how their individual Ship Tease with Hachiman is different — Yukino and Hachiman are combative and snarky, which just shows how similar they are personality-wise. With Toru, it started when Hachiman recognized her strength, put faith in her skills, and solidified when he gave her Intimate Healing.

  • Asui and Yukino are both attractive Heroines with enhanced strength and maneuverability and a propensity for Brutal Honesty. They both also come from a largely friendless background and wish to become Rescue-type Heroes. However, Asui's lack of friends before U.A. was due to her focus on studying and responsibilities as the eldest sibling, and was still approached by one friend. Yukino is the youngest daughter who was completely ostracized because of her unstable Quirk, and never had anyone reach out to her. While Tsuyu's Quirk lacks raw power it does allow for lateral maneuverability, and is perfect for being a Rescue Hero. Yukino's Quirk allows her to be a heavy hitter, that can slide around horizontal surfaces, and can easily hurt people; making it detrimental for directly rescuing others. Asui also is extremely weak in cold and rapidly cooling temperatures, while Yukino empowers herself by sucking in heat to suddenly make her surroundings colder.

  • Tokoyami and Yukino both have powers where their strength is affected by environmental conditions, and they feel their quirks are more a curse that they must master due to being easy to hurt others if their powers go out of control. Both are talented guitarists and rather serious individuals. But while Yukino's serious attitude manifests as Brutal Honesty and Deadpan Snarker tendencies, Tokoyami is a Cold Ham, whose overly dramatic statements are hard to take seriously. Yukino is also one of the top of the class in academics, while Tokoyami is subpar at best.

  • Orimoto and Yukino are both dedicated heroes, but the latter is a Broken Ace, while the former is more of a Class Princess. Orimoto was very popular in her old school and widely liked, while Yukino was an outcast. They also greatly differ in how they treat Hachiman; with Orimoto being such a positive person, she doesn't realize how deeply she hurt him and thinks nothing has changed between them, while Yukino slowly begins to see him as an equal.

  • Sagami was born with a powerful fire-based quirk that made everyone believe she was a natural fit to be a pro-hero, Yukino's unstable ice-based quirk insulated her from praise. Sagami was so sure of her own success that she miserably failed to get into the hero course and was shunted into General Studies, while Yukino passed easily. Yukino greatly values the friendships she's made while in U.A. (especially Yui's), with them being the first genuine companionships she's ever made. Meanwhile, Sagami was a total Alpha Bitch who never lacked for hangers-on and was very belittling to Yui.

  • Yaoyorozu and Yukino are both intelligent young women from affluent families (though Yaoyorozu is clearly richer), who shunned more appropriate career paths to pursue one in heroism. However, Momo had no other reasons to be a hero than pure altruism, and while Yukino does have some heroic instincts, she mainly wants to prove she can be as good or better than her sister. Beyond that, while they both have issues with self-esteem, Yaoyorozu is an all-around Spoiled Sweet Nice Girl, whereas Yukino is a stoic Deadpan Snarker. Their respective romances with Hachiman are also different, with Yaoyorozu putting him on a pedestal and admiring his decisiveness, while Yukino finds his ability to keep up with their Snark-to-Snark Combat and his general unpredictability very stimulating.

  • Kawasaki and Yukino are both fiercely independent Statuesque Stunners who're pursuing careers in pro-heroism and are both loners as a consequence of their quirks and personalities; Kawasaki is a Tomboy with a very weak quirk, so she's never been one to make friends. Yukino was shunned because she couldn't control her dangerous Quirk, and her aloof cynical attitude left much to be desired. Kawasaki adores her siblings, while Yukino resents her older sister.

  • Yukino and Todoroki. Both have Quirks that revolve around cold and heat, but while Todoroki generates ice and fire for range attacks, Yukino sucks in heat which freezes her surroundings to empower herself as a close-quarters combatant. Both similarly have No Social Skills and come from a Friendless Background, but while Todoroki completely misses social cues due to being isolated by his father in order to focus only on training; Yukino is simply brutally honest no matter the feelings of others due to being bullied as a child. Finally, both have troubled relationships with older family members, but while Yukino doesn't particularly like her older sister on a personal level, she respects Haruno's achievements and wishes to surpass them. Todoroki, by contrast, absolutely hates his father and wishes to achieve things while completely rejecting him.

  • To Midoriya, surprisingly. Yukino is a young girl from an affluent family that is full of strife and resentment, while Midoriya is from a working-class family with a workaholic father and a stay-at-home mother, but it's very clear that they love each other. Yukino's Quirk creates an aura of kinetic energy she absorbs from the surrounding heat, which she uses to augment her strength and speed, but it causes her core body temperature to rise rapidly as the air in her immediate vicinity drops to freezing cold—making her power a danger to herself and others. Midoriya's Quirk also places a cost on his body which necessitates him relying on hit-and-run attacks and short bursts of power, and he still doesn't know the full extent of it yet. They both experienced osterization because of the nature of their Quirks—Yukino's being unstable, while Midoriya was Quirkless—which shaped their worldviews. Surprisingly, they both share in being The Idealist—Yukino does believe in the ideals of heroism and helping those in need with no thought of reward, just like Midoriya. However, Midoriya aims to be the next Symbol of Peace that saves everyone with a brave smile, while Yukino has a low opinion of celebrity superheroes, feeling it's not as important as saving lives.

    Yui Yuigahama

  • Bakugo wants to be a pro-hero more than anything, and has based his entire personality around his dream. He is very hot-headed and sees everything as a competition to be the best. Meanwhile, Yuigahama was basically peer-pressured into signing up for UA, and was having second thoughts the day of the entrance exam. She also a natural people-pleaser who just wants everyone to get along. They both are The Nicknamer, but Yui does it as a show of affection and friendship, while Bakugo does it in a demeaning way and so he doesn't have to put in the effort of remembering people's names. They also contrast in their respective Odd Friendship with introverts–Yui sticks to Yukino like glue (sometimes literally) and helps bring her out of her shell by spending time with her and figuring out her interests (such as sending her videos of kittens). As for Bakugo, his "friendship" with Hikigaya was founded on seeing him as a Worthy Opponent with the power and determination to keep him sharp, but he also respects his intelligence and integrity enough that he'll defend him and try to look out for him (in his own abrasive way).

  • Miura is pompous, whereas Yui is quiet. Miura also has deeper goals than just basic heroics and is much more forward-thinking, while Yui has a more "go-with-the-flow" attitude toward it all.

  • Ashido and Yui are two spirited girls who must use their quirks creatively and with an emphasis on speed and agility to fight. But Ashido is much more extroverted and effortlessly Fun Personified, while Yui has some self-esteem issues she tries to cover up with a brave face.

  • Kirishima and Yui are both overcompensating for deeper insecurities with more confident and friendly personas and share the position of The Heart of their class. Additionally, Yui can make her clothes act as Power Armor, while Kirishima can literally make his skin tougher.

  • Yui and Midoriya both have qualities that make them ideal pro-heroes in the making, possessing impressive Quirks, a desire to help others with a brave smile, but are held back by their deeper insecurities; Midoriya, due to his years of being Quirkless, has a serious case of imposter syndrome and is constantly doubting himself (and it's only gotten worse now that he feels he hasn't truly accomplished anything on his own merits), while Yui's depression and low self-esteem makes her feel unfit to be the hero she wants to be. Finally, they both wish to emulate a person they look up to (All Might and Hachiman, respectively), but they are mainly motivated by subtly different aspects of heroism—Midoriya is motivated by Justice, while Yui is motivated by Happiness. Both also have a friendship with Bakugo and give him a personal nickname he doesn't like, but while Midoriya's is a childhood nickname that's a Berserk Button, and he is genuinely intimidated by Bakugo's attitude. Yui's is due to her being The Nicknamer that simply annoys him, while she either ignores Bakugo's attitude or fights back. Finally, both of their Quirks can be shown to harm them, though while Midoriya ends up breaking his bones due to being unable to control the sheer raw power of his Quirk, Yui's is only a mild case of bruising from telekinetically moving her clothes for greater speed but making her body rattle around inside as a result.

  • Toru tries to compensate for her invisibility by being more extroverted, while Yui is more quiet and more friendly. She is a stealth hero, while Yui is a battle hero. They both develop crushes for Hachiman because he did something heroic and inadvertently romantic.

  • Uraraka and Yui both come from humble origins, but Uraraka wants to be a hero to earn money for her family, while Yui is genuinely motivated by altruism.

  • Orimoto, like Yui, is kind-hearted and friendly to everybody, but she has a problem with being Innocently Insensitive, and is rather oblivious to other people's feelings. Yui tries to think and empathize with other people all of the time.

  • Sagami was always confident to the point of arrogance, while Yui was insecure. Sagami is condescending, whereas Yui is sincere. In the end, Yui's honest hard work got her a spot in the most prestigious hero-course in the world, while Sagami was relegated to Gen Ed.

    Hayato Hayama

  • Hayama shares a similar history with Bakugo. Both were popular kids who were considered The Ace among their class and were given constant praise while having a childhood friend who was ostracized. Come UA, and both find themselves outperformed by others, and especially Hachiman. However, while Bakugo is a loud, egotistical jerk with a temper who belittles and insults others, Hayama is a perpetual Nice Guy that tries to get along with everyone. Bakugo was also the main instigator in causing Midoriya to be bullied when they were younger, while Hayama wished to help Yukino but was unable. Bakugo also has an unshakeable drive to be the best Hero to the point of aiming to surpass All Might, while Hayama has no greater motivation than that being a Hero was expected of him.

  • To Kirishima. Both are Nice Guys whose outward personalities hide an inner conflict and have Boring, but Practical Quirks centered around their bodies gaining Super-Toughness. But while Kirishima is a Large Ham who tries to make up for a lack of confidence in himself, Hayama is more soft-spoken and hides a cynical side to not hurt his relationships and status. Their powers and styles also are opposite as Kirishima's power is purely defensive and doesn't give him any greater mobility, making him act like an immovable wall, Hayama's power toughens his body while he's flying and thus necessitates him to be in constant motion.

  • Hayama and Shinso are opposites in almost every way. Where Hayama is good-looking, popular, nice, athletic, and possesses a naturally heroic Quirk; Shinso is thuggish looking, was ostracized growing up, is cynical and a bit of a jerk, and is perceived as having a Quirk that is naturally villainous. Shinso is also a Gen Ed student who is driven to become a Hero, while Hayama got into the Hero course only because of others' expectations.

  • To Midoriya. While Hayama is a confident, good-looking, charismatic, Big Man on Campus, and born with a very heroic Quirk, he doesn't actually have interest in a heroic career and was peer-pressured into it, and is something of a Bitch in Sheep's Clothing due to his bad case of Bystander Syndrome in his past. Midoriya is an awkward, funny-looking, and painfully shy Quirkless boy who nonetheless is obsessed with heroes and dreams of being the next Number 1 Pro-Hero in the world, and has the self-sacrificing nature and determination to do it. They also contrast in their feelings toward Hachiman; they both feel a bit overshadowed by him, but Midoriya's experience with Bakugo makes him a little more resigned to it, and while he admires Hachiman for his better qualities, Midoriya continues to push forward with his ambitions and achieve things on his own merits. Hayama, meanwhile, internally admits he's not used to someone so effortlessly outshining and attributes Hachiman's success to pure luck. Despite that, he can't bring himself to actually resent/hate him and realizes it was his own lack of ambition that's held him back.

    Yumiko Miura

  • Miura's history, personality, and career path make her one to Hayama. Both are good-looking and sociable, have Quirks that are considered Heroic, and were popular before coming to UA. Both also are focused on suppressing their more jerkish attitudes. But while Hayama is genuinely a Nice Guy who hides a more cynical attitude in order to not hurt his image and relationships, Miura is more of a Jerk with a Heart of Gold, who consciously acts nicer in order to live up to the image of a Hero. Hayama thus avoids conflicts and tries to have everyone get along, while Miura speaks out about her views on situations. Hayama also became a Hero due to everyone expecting it of him, while Miura is genuinely driven to become a Hero that can help others.

  • Miura and Jiro are both The Gadfly as well as Squishy Wizard heroes whose powers rely on a particular sense. Miura is a very feminine girl with long hair that ends in Ojou Ringlets, whereas Jiro is tomboyish with Boyish Short Hair. Jiro's Quirk also gives her Super-Hearing, while Miura's eyes have no enhancement to help her shoot her light arrows, but she does have an innate understanding of trajectories.

  • To Ashido. Both are attractive girls with great figures, possess athletic abilities from mundane hobbies, and have an attraction to a classmate. But while Aishido is a fun-loving Genki Girl, whose athleticism comes from a passion for dancing, Miura is level-headed and more critical and has ability in sports.

  • Miura and Kirishima are almost complete opposites. He's a Hot-Blooded, Large Ham whose Quirk grants him Super-Toughness while being a close-range combatant. She's a Squishy Wizard who must fight at distance and with a cool and confident personality. Kirishima also expresses enthusiasm and passion for any display of competition, while Miura views any unnecessary or out-of-hand conflict as stupid and pointless. However, they are both trying to Become The Mask—Kirishima tries to project a manly persona in the hopes of overcoming his cowardice; Miura is implied to be just as self-centered as her canon-counterpart, but she's actively forcing herself to be nicer because she feels that how a hero should be.

  • It's implied that she and Sagami aren't all that different in terms of being a Bitch in Sheep's Clothing, but while Miura at some point consciously made the decision to start acting like a hero and get serious about her career plans, Sagami stayed the same, believing that her raw power would get her where she wanted to go.

  • Her "more heroic than thou" attitude is directly compared to Iida's by Hikigaya. Interestingly, their shared behavior comes from a similar source of wanting to live up to a heroic ideal–though, in the latter's case, it's more because he's trying to act more like his older brother, while Miura is simply that pompous in general, but is consciously trying to reign it in.

    Kakeru Tobe

  • Tobe and Kirishima are both Large Hams who dye their hair (red for Kirishima and blonde for Tobe), but Kirishima is putting on a front in order to cover up his insecurities, while Tobe is, by all accounts, just like that normally. Tobe has a crush on a girl in another class, while Kirishima's obsession with his definition of "manliness" makes him a Chaste Hero. Finally, Tobe appears to be far more judgemental than Kirishima.

  • Kaminari and Tobe are both in the running for Class Clown with their attention-grabbing antics and Book Dumb personalities. Kaminari, however, is usually the butt of jokes and wants to be taken seriously, while Tobe is something of an Attention Whore. They both need equipment for their Quirks to properly function, but Kaminari just needs a few specialized gadgets and ops for Civvie Spandex, while Tobe's uniform is described as a "walking weapon rack" for any situation he could be in. And, Kaminari was on Todoroki's team in the Cavalry Battle, so he really wants to let bygones be bygones over the latter's betrayal, while Tobe is the first to start developing a grudge and calling them out.

  • Also serves one to Ida. While Ida is one of the smartest students in the class, a Lightning Bruiser, and approaches everything as Serious Business; Tobe is Book Dumb, fights from a distance by telekinetically throwing things, and generally care-free. However, both are Nice Guys and Large Hams that act as sources of comedy within their class, but Ida is the Comically Serious that makes bizarre arm gestures he doesn't seem conscious of, while Tobe is a Class Clown and something of an Attention Whore. Both strike an Odd Friendship in the story.

    Hitoshi Shinso

  • Hachiman was bullied because his Quirk was useless, Shinso was bullied because his power was villainous. As such, they both developed cynical outlooks on life and heroism, and they both have to use their brains to get ahead. However, Shinso legitimately wants to be a hero to prove the naysayers wrong, while Hachiman never gave a damn about heroism.

  • Mineta wanted to be a hero for fame and girls, while Shinso has genuine heroic aspirations. Mineta's an obnoxious pervert, while Shinso is quiet and shy. They're both color-coded for purple.

  • Sagami is essentially everything Shinso expects from "riajuus" — she's pretty, has great people skills, is very high-and-mighty, fame-obsessed, and was blessed with a heroic combat-oriented quirk. However, because her overconfidence ruined her chances, she's certainly swallowed that serving of humble pie, which has made him more sympathetic to her plight.

  • Kawasaki is another non-hero student with a bad attitude, but she's right where she wants to be as a future fashion designer, while Shinso desperately wants to advance to the hero course.

  • Saika is a General Ed student like Shinso. Saika is a cute, effeminate Nice Guy, while Shinso is Creepy Good with a Face of a Thug appearance. Saika was born with a Quirk suited for Hero work, while Shinso has Quirk regarded as perfect for a villain. Saika is perfectly happy as a General Ed student, while Shinso aspires to enter the Hero course.

    Saki Kawasaki

  • Saki and Mei. Both are Hero Support students who spend much of their time working on their creations; but while Mei is a Gadgeteer Genius who is obsessed with her inventions that she creates wholesale to the point she cares little for social interactions, Kawasaki is a fashion designer who makes clever use of what's already available, and has to spend long hours of work to compensate for a lack of genius talent, which hurts her sibling relationships whom she loves.

  • She and Yaoyorozu are both Statuesque Stunners who can be mistaken for being older than they actually are, have a focus in creating items, and who both have a crush on Hachiman. But while Yaoyorozu is an only child from an affluent family, Kawasaki has younger siblings as part of a financially struggling family. While Yaoyorozu creates nearly anything from her Quirk and her Teen Genius intellect, Kawasaki creates costumes from sewing them by hand and puts in hours of work coming up with designs. And while Yaoyorozu mainly interacts with Hachiman during school, Kawasaki mainly interacts with him when classes are out.

  • To Yui. They both design Hero costumes and have an interest in Hachiman, but while Saki is a Jerk with a Heart of Gold who is secure in her goal in becoming a fashion designer, Yui is an All-Loving Hero who is uncertain in her choosing the Hero profession. And while making new clothes is easy for Yui due to her Quirk, she has no talent for design, while Kawasaki does have skill with design, but has to sew everything the normal way.

  • Sagami sought to become a Hero, but expected her naturally powerful Quirk to be enough by itself to succeed without any further effort, and failed as a result. Saki was born with a Boring, but Practical power that helps her put in hours of work necessary to compete in the Support Course, and is succeeding in her dream.

    Meguri Shiromeguri

  • Meguri contrasts in several ways with her kohai Hikigaya. Where Hikigaya is intelligent, cynical, introverted, and a loner, Meguri is ditzy, cheerful, out-going, optimistic, and team-spirited. Where both posses Quirks with powerful analysis ability, Hikigaya's is focused on analyzing Quirks in order to copy them, whereas Meguri's scans and analysis her surroundings at a significant range. Both are practicing martial artist, but while Hikigaya is just a beginner who is learning in order to compliment his Super-Strength quirks and have a more reliable option to his Quirk's Discard and Draw nature, Meguri is an experienced practitioner whose Quirk greatly aides in her martial art abilities, but is limited to it being her only offensive and defensive option.

  • Quite a bit with Mirio. Both are cheerful, optimistic, and out-going 3rd year Heroes in training, who are considered two of the best U.A. ever produced. Both take on a mentorship role with a Class 1-A student. They both also fight mainly by observing and predicting their opponents, and despite having powerful Quirks, are limited to normal human levels of physical feats. Mirio, however, trained his body into peak physical condition to the point he can break normal people's bones with a punch, had to train hard to master his unwieldy Intangibility to avoid attacks, and his ability to analyze his opponents comes from normal observation. Meguri in contrast focused purely on her martial arts skill, must dodge or redirect attacks in order to avoid injury, and her ability to read her opponent is entirely based on her Quirk; all of which is made easier by the sheer amount of detail her Quirk gives her about everything happening around her, and required no additional effort to utilize.

  • Third-year students Meguri and Nejire are friendly, cheerful girls who are airheaded yet so skilled and capable, they both are part of UA's Big Four. But Nejire has trouble focusing her attention outside of her Hero work, and fights at a distance, while Meguri's Quirk makes her aware of everything in a given range, and fights using martial arts.

    Shizuka Hiratsuka

  • All Might is the Big Good and the most popular superhero in the world, while Cyberpunch is a minor B-lister at best, however, they're both dedicated heroes who genuinely believe in what they're doing. Interestingly, they both contrast in their mentor/student relationship — All Might is a source of inspiration for Midoriya, but he kind of sucks at being a teacher and doesn't know how to properly guide his protege through the hurdles he's facing. Meanwhile, Hiratsuka turns out to be just the kind of teacher Hachiman needs, not just in respecting his intelligence and not sugar-coating the grimier aspects of the job, but also figuring out how Hachiman can stress his Quirk, something literally no one else could ever do.

  • Eraser Head is another "underground hero" who was never one for the spotlight, but Aizawa consciously chose that reputation because he loathed the celebrity-culture of pro-heroism, while Hiratsuka is so low on the ranking because of heteromorph prejudice and because the police get the lion's-share of the credit for her busted cases. Additionally, they both take their respective roles as teachers very seriously.

  • Midnight and Cyberpunch are both respected female heroes in teaching positions, but Nemuri is a Hot-Blooded Lovable Sex Maniac, which contrasts with the latter's more professional personality. They both hate it when their respective ages are brought up, especially in the negative, and they both are equally passionate about guiding youths away from destructive paths; Hiratsuka with her dojo for at-risk kids, and Nemuri with her unorthodox teaching methods. Though, Midnight believes that repression is why some kids turn to villainy, while Cyberpunch thinks it's just good old-fashioned prejudice.

  • Mirko and Cyberpunch are both heteromorphic pro-heroes, but the former is the more famous of the two, which irritates Hiratsuka to no end as she feels Mirko hasn't done nearly half as much for the heteromorphic community as she has. Mirko, for her part, is aware of the animosity and just doesn't care. Mirko is a hero for the action and thrill of it, while Hiratsuka became a hero through personal tragedy.

  • Campestris is a young up-and-comer who's a Nominal Hero at best, while Hiratsuka is an older and experienced Knight in Sour Armor. Haruno believes that the logistics and business side of pro-heroism is what truly matters, while Cyberpunch still believes in grassroots efforts.

  • To Slidin' Go. Both are cynical, low ranking, street level Heroes that take an 1-A student as an intern, who they proceed to teach about the failings of society. But while Cyberpunch shares with Hikigaya her experience with Heteromorph prejudice, she also shows him her methods of helping troubled youths to turn away from crime; showing herself to be a true hero. Slidin' Go, however, is heavily implied to frame a delinquent for a more serious crime in order to pitch to Hayama the oppressive nature of Quirk laws; hinting at his true status as an anarchist villain.

  • Also with Sir Nighteye. They are both Investigative Heroes with small agencies, unusual fan interests (Sir Nighteye being an Otaku, and Cyberpunch enjoying B-list horror films respectively), and take on a Class 1-A student as an intern. However, while Sir Nighteye is The Stoic, and The Fatalist who believes it's impossible to change one's fate, Cyberpunch is more laidback, and helps at risk groups specifically in order to change their path in life. Sir Nighteye also holds that humor and wit in a Hero are the most essential characteristics to giving people hope, while Cyberpunch maintains that some people need role models similar to them in which to empathize with.

  • To Komachi. Hiratsuka had an older brother who faced Heteromorph bigotry, and pursued a career in pro-heroism which ultimately cost him his life; very worryingly similar to the relationship Komachi has now with her older brother, who endured bullying due to his weak Quirk, and is constantly having brushes with death. While Cyberpunch represents a possible future for Hachiman, she's a less optimistic but equally possible future for Komachi.

    Haruno Yukinoshita

  • Contrasts heavily with All Might. While All Might is the Big Good, The Idealist, and Symbol of Peace whose Heroism is born out of a genuine desire to help people, Haruno is a cynical Nominal Hero who's more in the Hero Industry for her own desires and doesn't believe true altruistic people even exist. All Might gained fame as a by-product of his incredible heroic acts and sheer drive to help others, whereas Campestris is more focused on being a Celebrity Superhero where any aid given to others is the by-product. Lastly both similarly put on a facade while hiding things from the public, but while All Might's persona is genuine, he has to hide his more human side for the sake of the public not losing hope; Campestris on the other hand is a Bitch in Sheep's Clothing, whose outward demeanor is entirely fabricated so as not to hurt her public image.

  • Endeavor. Both are unpleasant people, but Endeavor only cares about how his power and performance are perceived rather than his personality, and is the Number 2 Hero in the country despite his Jerkass demeanor. Campestris, meanwhile, ignores active hero work, and hides her real personality in order to climb the Hero ranks by popularity alone. Both have strained relationships with younger family members they try to guide, but while Haruno views Yukino's hostility with amusement, and tries to instruct her on the shady business side of the Hero Industry; Endeavor is practically oblivious to the reasons behind Shoto's rebellious attitude, and focuses only on Quirk development.

  • Campestris and Midnight are both experts on public perception, as well as Ms. Fanservice Heroines whose Quirks work best with more skin exposure to knock people unconscious. But while Campestris models her look in a very precise manner to be attractive but not too offensive in order to appeal to as wide an audience as possible, Midnight is provocative simply because she personally likes it, and would be even lewder if the law didn't prevent it. Campestris also only uses her social knowledge to benefit herself, while Midnight is a teacher who wishes to make sure other student Heroes are equipped to handle public scrutiny.
