- This fic was great. Misa's characterization was spot-on and her relationship with L was spellbinding to watch develop. Even the ending was the perfect mix of ambiguous, bittersweet and hopeful. Definitely recommend a look.

- Synopsis: After her mother dies, a young girl is sent to Wammy's House where she takes on the alias Patience. She stays there for years, and meets some of her best friends there, including Mello. That is, until he left. While everyone else is focused on the Kira case, Patience has her own investigation. Curious about her birth mother and finding a lead in Japan, she tags along with Near in the hopes that the Kira investigation will eventually lead them there. However, before she heads off, her friend Allison begs Patience to bring Mello back. Determined to keep her word, Patience comes to realize that Mello is another mystery she is going to have to solve.
- Comments: An interesting fanfiction, in that it is a mystery within a mystery, to an extent. While everyone is trying to solve the Kira mystery—one we all know the answer to—we focus in on a mystery which we the readers have not yet solved. The story is written in first person, with the occasional shift to third-person omniscient. Later on in the story, another narrator—another character in the story—is added and tells the story, as well as part of her own. One thing that is unique about this story, albeit hard to notice, is that the narrators write in significantly different styles. One, who is from America, writes in American-English and writes down the correct spelling of words, whereas the other, who is from England, writes in British-English and writes down words based on how she hears them, each differing depending on the speaker's accent.
- Although not very far along, this story has pretty good potential. The only big problem that I see is that the author does a lot of copy and paste from the original scenes, which is understandable, yet tends to get boring. However, to prevent that from happening, the author often adds witty comments from a comic relief character they created.
- Gets a lot more interesting as it gets further in. Written over a few years, and you can see the author's writing skills improve.

- Comments: This troper was actually pretty surprised this story wasn't up here yet. Risembool Ranger does a fantastic job with her OCs, as well as creates a plausible AU setting where L and Gee end up working with each other, sets up a deliciously fascinating murder case, and - oh yeah! includes all the awkwardness that comes out of having L as your crush and partner. It was fantastic, and the sequel will be up in the future sometime. Hopefully.
