    A-F
  • 100% Heroism Rating: Danny's become the most popular guy on the planet after the Disasteroid incident.
  • Abhorrent Admirer: Paulina to Danny. Not because she is ugly, she is considered very attractive at first. It’s her personality that’s the big turn-off.
  • Abduction Is Love: Paulina has no problem kidnapping Danny to make him hers, but him and Team Phantom have VERY much of a problem with it.
  • Abusive Parents: After Vlad changes the timeline so Jack dies and he marries Maddie instead, he is shown to be a very controlling and emotionally abusive stepfather to Danny and Jazz.
  • Action Girl:
    • Ember, Sam and Dani are all very competent fighters.
    • In the sequel, in the alternate universe, Sam has become the leader of a group of rebels called the Earth's Freedom Brigade who are bent on liberating the world from Plasmius' tyranny.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Ember develops a genuine fondness for Danny for his good nature after hanging out with him while under the effects of Cupid's love arrow and later helps save him from Paulina.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Paulina was just a stuck-up Alpha Bitch in the show but in this story, she's a full-blown psychopathic Yandere.
  • Adaptational Villainy:
    • Cupid in this story is a very spiteful, sadistic prankster. Fortunately, he grows out of it during the sequel.
    • Paulina is far more malicious and violent than in the cartoon, to the point of an Attempted Rape on Danny.
  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: Danny outright begs Dani, Sam, and Ember to save him from Paulina's control.
  • All-Powerful Bystander: Clockwork, but he is always willing to help Danny due to his fondness toward the halfa and his pity towards Ember during the course of the story.
  • All Women Are Lustful:
    • Paulina is a dark deconstruction of this trope as her lust for Danny causes her to do many villainous deeds which she is ultimately punished for in the end.
    • Cupid also claims that his mother Aphrodite is this as well and Clockwork implies that it’s true.
  • Alpha Bitch: Paulina to a T.
  • And I Must Scream: Despite being hit by one of Cupid's love arrows, Danny has enough willpower to be aware that he's under Paulina's control and hates it to the point he begs Sam, Dani, and Ember to save him until Paulina hits him with a second love arrow that puts him completely under her control.
  • Antagonistic Offspring: Cupid has a very strained relationship with his mother Aphrodite, which is partly fueled by her Really Gets Around history. They patch things up by the end of the sequel.
  • Anti-Nepotism: Paulina's parents seek to avoid making the same mistakes with Priscilla that they made with Paulina by raising their second daughter to value hard work and ethics over looks and wealth.
  • Anti-Villain: Kitty is more of a troublemaker than a villain, as she admits she doesn't hate Danny and just finds him to be a pest at worst. Kitty even encourages Ember to date Danny because she's aware of his good qualities.
  • Anything but That!: Paulina reacts like this when Aphrodite is about to make her ugly again in "Unshattered Bonds".
  • Arbitrary Skepticism: Vlad notes that, as someone who lived for years in a haunted town, Paulina shouldn't be surprised that aliens exist as well.
  • Attempted Homewrecker: Paulina doesn’t care if Danny is dating another woman and still harasses him as she feels entitled to him. Sam even brings this up in court when she tells everyone about when Paulina sexually harassed Danny for months while he was dating the former.
  • Ax-Crazy: Paulina was already unstable in the first story but in the sequel, she goes completely off the rails and is willing to kill Danny and Ember when they ruin her wedding to Danny.
  • Babies Ever After: Unshattered Bond ends with all of the couples having kids, and the lead couple, Danny and Ember, are happy parents to four: two boys and two girls.
  • Bad Boss: In the alternate timeline in the sequel, Paulina is extremely bossy and rude to Vlad's waiting staff. Ember, who overshadowed a maid to infiltrate the palace, can barely control her temper while dealing with Paulina's snobby attitude but settles for tricking the spoiled brat into eating a sandwich that she spat in while nobody was looking.
  • Beauty Equals Goodness: Invoked. Aphrodite reveals that the first ugly curse she put on Paulina would've been lifted if she had changed for the better. Subverted with the second ugly curse Aphrodite casts on Paulina since it's permanent.
  • Beauty Is Bad: Paulina is an attractive girl that is the most morally repugnant person in the story. The "beauty" part is subverted when Aphrodite punishes her for this by casting a spell that makes her as unattractive outside as she is inside.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: The last time Desiree granted a ghost's wish for a date, she "granted it in her usual way by giving them a big, hideous, lovesick troll of a ghost that had the unfortunate wisher heading for the hills".
  • Beauty to Beast: Aphrodite does this to Paulina twice as punishment for her crimes by casting a curse that makes Paulina's physical body match her inner ugliness by first transforming her into a deformed hunchback creature, then a hideous witch.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Danny's genuine kindness to Ember is what motivates her to help save him from Paulina and eventually cements her Heel–Face Turn.
  • Believing Their Own Lies:
    • As far as Paulina is concerned, it’s Dani, Ember, and Sam’s fault she isn’t with Danny and not her own for being a bitchy Yandere.
    • Vlad thinks he’s entitled to everything he wants and his despicable actions are everyone else’s fault for not giving him what he thinks he deserves.
  • Berserk Button: Ember and Kitty do not like being insulted, nor do they tolerate anyone insulting their boyfriends Danny and Johnny respectively, as Spectra finds out the hard way.
  • Beta Couple: Kitty and Johnny. Tucker and Jazz are eventually revealed to be one as well, and Sam ultimately becomes this with a boy named Christopher.
  • Beyond Redemption: Clockwork has no sympathy for the final fates of Vlad and Paulina, which is an eternity in the Unworld, as they brought it on themselves and earned it due to rejection of any chance to change their ways.
  • Big Bad:
    • Cupid is this during the first half of the story but Paulina soon takes his place after she captures him and steals his arrows.
    • The sequel has this title shared between Vlad and Paulina, who do a Villainous Team Up to take over the world and have their respective crushes for themselves.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Danny is very protective of both of his sisters, much to their annoyance.
  • Big Brother Worship: Just like in canon, Dani cares very much about her adoptive older brother Danny and they are very close.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Sam, Dani, and Ember rush to save Danny from Paulina.
  • The Big Damn Kiss: Ember gives one to a brainwashed Danny to break him free from the effects of Cupid’s arrows.
  • Big Good: Clockwork is the closest one in the DP universe in general.
  • Bitch Slap:
    • Both of Paulina's parents slap her while she's imprisoned at the police station out of anger for the crimes she committed.
    • Ember gives Cupid one in the sequel when he refuses to help her stop Vlad and Paulina, as well as save his mother and the universe.
  • Boisterous Weakling: Paulina sure loves to talk a big game but only proves to be a threat to the heroes when she has the element of surprise and a brainwashed Danny to fight for her. As soon as he's free from her control, Sam doesn't waste any time knocking Paulina out cold with a single blow to the head.
  • Brainwashed Bride: Gender-Inverted. Paulina steals Cupid's love arrows to use them to force Danny to fall in love with her.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Paulina uses Cupid's love arrows to turn Danny into her slave and forces him to attack Sam, Dani, and Ember when they come to stop her.
  • Brought Down to Normal: In the sequel, one of Vlad's punishments for tampering with reality is to be permanently stripped of his ghost powers.
  • Brutal Honesty: Danny makes it clear to Paulina he'd rather be with any girl but her.
  • Bullying a Dragon:
    • Kitty and Ember get into a fight with Penelope Spectra when she insults them and their boyfriends.
    • Paulina makes the mistake of making permanent enemies out of Team Phantom and Ember McLain.
  • Category Traitor: With the exception of Kitty, all of Danny's enemies regard Ember as this when she befriends Danny.
  • Celebrity Is Overrated: Danny doesn’t enjoy constantly being hounded by fans and the media or the fact that the only reason his fan girls want him is for his fame.
  • Chastity Couple: Unshattered Bonds reveals that Danny and Ember are waiting until marriage to become intimate, per Danny's insistence.
  • Chick Magnet: Danny after he saved the world from the Disasteroid. He doesn’t like the attention from his crazy fan girls and would much prefer a girl who actually cares about him, not his fame.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl:
    • Paulina is this in spades, which motivates her to use Cupid's Arrow to ensure Danny only loves her.
    • Also Ember towards Danny, when she's under the love spell.
    • Sam subverts this, as while she is slightly jealous of seeing Danny with a new girl, she acts very mature about it and doesn’t allow it to interfere with their friendship. Sam even accepts the growing bond between Danny and Ember at the end of the fic and gives them some privacy so they can discus their relationship.
  • Combat Pragmatist:
    • Sam has no problem knocking Paulina out with a punch to the face when she's distracted by seeing Danny's duplicate disappear.
    • In the alternate timeline, Ember gives Paulina a black eye while she's unconscious.
  • Control Freak: Both Paulina and Vlad are this to Danny in the alternate timeline in the sequel. Paulina treats Danny like property and is very clingy towards him while Vlad pretty much runs Danny's life for him by making him try out for the football team, join the A-Listers, and pressuring him into marrying Paulina.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: Skulker doesn’t take Ember dumping him well and becomes furious when he thinks there is a relationship between her and Danny.
  • Curse Escape Clause: When Aphrodite first cursed Paulina into being ugly, she set it so Paulina could regain her beauty by becoming a better person. At the end of "Unshattered Bonds", Aphrodite explains that becoming a ghost after her eventual death would have also lifted the curse but she decides to remove both escape clauses as punishment for Paulina helping Vlad to damage reality.
  • Cute Ghost Girl: Ember. Dani is a pre-teen version of this.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Chapter 10 reveals Ember’s past... and it's not pretty.
  • Dating Catwoman: This fic plays a bit with the PhantomRocker shipping.
  • Death Glare: Danny gives an epic one to Paulina during her trial that makes her flinch a bit and mentally calls her a “bitch”.
  • Defiant Captive: Even while tied up by the Fenton Fisher, Danny still insults Paulina and spits in her face.
  • Delayed Reaction: When Danny asks if Skulker's girlfriend lives in Canada, Skulker starts explaining where in the Ghost Zone she lives before realizing what Danny meant.
  • De-power: In "Unshattered Bonds", the Observants remove Vlad's powers as punishment for his crimes. The Head Observant says that, even if Vlad does become a real ghost after his death, he won't have any power other than "the standard flight, invisibility and intangibility".
  • Disinherited Child: Paulina's parents disinherit her as punishment for her crimes and make their second daughter, Priscilla, their heir. If that doesn't work, they'll go with Paulina's cousins Amelia or Carlos.
  • Domestic Abuse: In Unshattered Bonds, Paulina is shown to be very possessive of Danny while he's in her captivity, treating him as her property, being very manipulative, and not caring about his personal feelings. It's obvious that had the marriage gone through, he would have been miserable.
  • Double Standard: Abuse, Female on Male: Averted. This story does not sugarcoat the effects of sexual harassment or that a female harassing a male can be just as bad as vice-versa.
  • Downer Beginning: The story starts with Danny breaking up with Sam, him having be hounded by the media and his friends, and being harassed by his most repulsive Abhorrent Admirer Paulina.
  • Driven to Suicide: Narrowly averted. After being released from juvie and enduring years of homelessness, Paulina considers taking her own life several times, but always chickens out.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: After Danny suffers a breakup with Sam and countless harassment from would-be girlfriends, and Ember suffers a breakup with Skulker and being resentful, the two end up falling in love and ultimately become a couple.
  • Embarrassing First Name: Ember’s real name is eventually revealed to be Amberline.
  • Enemy Mine: Dani and Sam form one with Ember to rescue Danny from Paulina.
  • Entitled Bitch:
    • Vlad only cares about power and getting together with Maddie.
    • This is Paulina's general mindset. She expects Danny to be with her regardless of his opinion on the matter and as far as she's concerned, her parents are supposed to bail her out of jail and help her get her beauty back from Aphrodite despite her crimes. Even after losing everything following her arrest and imprisonment, she still refuses to consider changing her ways and remains convinced that Danny should marry her and she doesn't deserve her lot.
  • Entitled to Have You: Paulina has this attitude towards Danny, who no longer fancies her.
  • Enraged by Idiocy: Roy is frustrated with his client Paulina’s idiocy to no end since she’s making his job of defending her at her trial a lot harder by refusing to keep quiet. At one point, he has to kick her just to shut her up.
  • Even Evil Has Standards:
    • Ember is outraged that Paulina almost raped Danny.
    • Even Vlad finds Paulina annoying and only works with her out of necessity.
    • Ember and Kitty attack Penelope Spectra for insulting them and their boyfriends.
    • In the sequel, even when Maddie turns on him in the alternate timeline, Vlad refuses to hurt her. Jazz, however, isn't so fortunate.
  • Everyone Has Standards:
    • Danny admits he'd rather spend Valentine's Day with his enemy Ember McLain than his most annoying Abhorrent Admirer, Paulina.
    • Despite her crimes, Aphrodite felt it was too cruel to condemn Paulina to an eternity of ugliness so she designed her first curse to break if Paulina either became a better person or died. She changes her mind when Paulina proves to be irredeemable after almost destroying reality in the sequel and casts a second curse that makes her even uglier than the first curse and can't be reversed so she has to spend life and death being ugly.
    • Paulina's parents might spoil her rotten, but they realize she crossed a line by trying to rape Danny. They disinherit then cut Paulina out of their lives, to the point they have another daughter.
    • Roy Matthews is one of the best criminal defense attorneys in the district but he knows Paulina is doomed at her trial since there’s too much evidence to get her out of the trouble she got herself in. The best he hopes for is a miracle and maybe a reduced sentence.
    • Roy doesn’t want to defend Paulina in court after he learns that he’s going against Danny Phantom and only agrees when her family promises to pay him a fortune.
    • At Paulina’s trial, her parents are embarrassed to no end by her unhealthy obsession with Danny, especially when she publicly declares her love for him.
  • Evil All Along: Paulina reveals how unhinged she is when she kidnaps Danny and brainwashes him into being her slave with Cupid's love arrows.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: Paulina consistently demonstrates this throughout the stories.
    • Paulina offers Dani the chance to be spared if she backs down because Paulina considers Dani to be her sister-in-law. Dani vehemently refuses since she'd never let Danny become a slave to a horrible witch like Paulina.
    • Paulina actually expects her parents to bail her out of jail and help her get her good looks back from Aphrodite, only to be shocked when they instead disown her and completely cut ties with her. Paulina thinks they're cutting her off just because she's ugly but they clarify they're doing it because they're ashamed of her crimes and the monster she's chosen to become.
    • Paulina is genuinely incapable of grasping why Danny would hate her despite being nothing but a selfish and sociopathic stalker who brainwashed and tried to make him kill his loved ones.
    • Aphrodite lampshades that Vlad and Paulina are incapable of grasping what true love is since they only regard people as property/trophies and don't comprehend why they can't force Maddie and Danny to like them. The Fentons end up turning on them with Ember's help because of this.
  • Evil Counterpart: Paulina is this to Ember as they're both prideful girls with short tempers that love being the center of attention and developed an interest in Danny despite not liking him at first. But while Ember's feelings for Danny started off fake because she was under the effects of Cupid's love arrows, she genuinely fell in love with him because of his kind nature, and his support inspired her to change for the better by renouncing her villainous ways and joining Danny's side. Paulina, however, only feels lust and entitlement toward Danny because of his powers and popularity, and her behavior grows steadily worse as her obsession reaches new levels that turn her into a villain.
  • Evil Is Petty:
    • Paulina is willing to team up with Vlad and put all of time at risk just for the chance to get her beauty back and make Danny hers.
    • Vlad and Paulina are fine with messing up the timeline just to get everything they want, unthinking and uncaring about the potential consequences of their actions.
    • In the sequel's alternate timeline, Vlad helps Paulina set up a wedding for her and Danny since he's aware Danny will be miserable married to someone as awful as her.
  • Evil Makes You Ugly: Aphrodite casts a curse on Paulina that does this to her as punishment for stealing and abusing Cupid's love arrows by forcing her body to match her inner beauty… which Paulina has none of so it just turns her into a deformed, hunchbacked creature. In the sequel, Aphrodite admits the curse would've been broken had Paulina become a better person or died and became a ghost, since she felt it was too cruel to subject someone to spend the afterlife ugly. However, she decides that Paulina doesn't deserve that mercy after endangering the timeline and casts an even worse curse on her that can't be broken by becoming a better person or dying, making her look like a hideous old witch.
  • Extreme Doormat: In the alternate timeline, Danny is very submissive to his stepfather Vlad and girlfriend Paulina no matter how controlling they are. However, some encouragement from Ember and being bossed around one too many times by them is what motivates Danny to rebel.
  • Famed In-Story: Danny is this due to saving the world and revealing his secret, which is a problem for him.
  • Fate Worse than Death:
    • Instead of killing Paulina, Aphrodite punishes her for her crimes by cursing her to be as hideously unattractive on the outside as she is on the inside since a narcissist like Paulina would be completely miserable from losing her beauty. Aphrodite even admits that the punishment from stealing from gods is usually death, but settled for casting an ugly curse on Paulina for the rest of her life since it's a crueler fate for someone like her.
    • In the sequel, as punishment for tampering with the timeline, Clockwork, Aphrodite, and the Observants permanently strip Vlad of his ghost powers while Aphrodite casts an even worse curse on Paulina that can't be broken by death or changing for the better and makes her look like a decrepit, elderly witch. She also places a hex on Vlad and Paulina to make them completely forget about their fake lives with Maddie and Danny in the alternate timeline. Finally, both are sentenced to spend eternity in the Unworld, a dimension in between the Ghost Zone and Earth where the worse of the worst are sent; it's completely inescapable and neither can use any powers, human or ghost wise, there. As part of of their punishment, they'll also both be bound to the Unworld's Realm of Reflection, which is a special area made completely of reflective crystals that are almost like mirrors, where they lose their sanity obsessing over their foiled desires.
    • Vlad believes being forced to live with Paulina is this for Danny.
  • Fighting from the Inside: At first, being hit by one of Cupid's love arrows doesn't completely put Danny under Paulina's control since he has enough free will to defy her order to attack Sam, Ember, and Dani and instead begs them to save him. Subverted when a second love arrow puts Danny completely under Paulina's control.
  • A Fool for a Client: Defense attorney Roy Matthews is unable to keep his client Paulina under control during her trial because her stubborn pride and inability to shut up causes her to sabotage her own case by stupidly confirming her crimes and even trying to attack the judge after her sentencing. This only earns her an ecto-blast from Ember and getting thrown out by court security, then sent to the Bludworth Youth Correctional Facility.
  • Forceful Kiss: Ember gives a couple to Danny while she’s under the spell, much to his shock. Paulina also gives one to Danny after kidnapping and restraining him, which is treated much more disturbingly.
  • The Four Loves: During chapter 18, Aphrodite says that Danny, Sam and Dani each represent one of the four kinds of love, though she choses not to tell Ember the type of love she expressed since Aphrodite wants her to figure it out on her own.
  • Friendly Enemy: Kitty admits she doesn't hate Danny as she only regards him as a pest instead of an enemy and is fine with Ember dating him.

    G-Y
  • Girlfriend in Canada: Not believing Skulker really has a girlfriend, Danny asks if she lives in Canada.
  • Good Counterpart: Paulina's parents are raising her younger sister Priscilla to be this to Paulina by giving her discipline and tough love so she lacks the sociopathy and snobbery of her Spoiled Brat older sister.
  • Green-Eyed Monster:
    • Paulina makes it clear that she is very jealous of seeing Danny around another girl and it eventually cements her as a villain.
    • Sam thankfully averts this as she genuinely cares about Danny and accepts his choice of liking Ember if it makes him happy.
  • Grew a Spine: In the alternate timeline in the sequel, Danny struggles to stand up to his controlling stepfather Vlad but finally does so at his wedding to Paulina thanks to some encouragement from Ember and being pushed too far by Vlad.
  • Happily Adopted: Dani.
  • Hated by All: Because of her crimes, nobody wants anything to do with Paulina; not Team Phantom, not the A-Listers, not Amity Park, and not even her own family. In the sequel, Vlad is the only one willing to work with her and that's purely out of necessity, as he makes it clear he can't stand someone as annoying as Paulina. He later dreads being stuck with her in the Unworld forever.
  • Heel–Face Turn: After being freed from the spell and despite getting her heart broken, Ember still chose to help save Danny from Paulina, which would be her first step towards redemption.
  • Heel Realization: Ember realizes how evil she was by putting people under her control when she sees Paulina doing it to Danny.
  • Henpecked Husband: Danny was going to become this to Paulina in the alternate timeline because he's unable to stand up to her bossy, controlling, domineering, and manipulative personality until Ember made him realize what a harpy she is.
  • Hopeless Suitor: Danny wants nothing to do with Paulina and even in the alternate timeline in the sequel, he grows to hate her enough to side with Ember in stopping Paulina and Vlad.
  • How the Mighty Have Fallen:
    • Cupid and Paulina are subjected to this big time at the end of the story, both at the hands of Cupid’s mother, Aphrodite.
    • According to the deleted scenes, even the A-Listers had their lives flushed down the pan: Star works at a cheap diner, Dash is divorced and working a blue-collar job just to pay child support and his looks have vanished, Dale and Ashley had to marry as he got her pregnant and now Dale works in a factory, and finally Steven ended up addicted to crack.
    • The sequel even has both Vlad and Paulina banished to the Unworld, where they ended up going insane.
  • Idiot Ball: Paulina left behind a mountain of evidence for Team Phantom to use against her in court, like her fingerprints on the Fenton gadgets she stole and the porn she’s been sending Danny that she kept in her phone. Also, Paulina ruins her own defense at trial through her ego, stubbornness, and stupidity since she’s incapable of keeping her mouth shut, revealing her obsession with Danny and eventually admitting her crimes. Paulina’s attempt to attack the judge at the end of the trial not only fails thanks to Ember’s intervention, but lands her in even more trouble.
  • If I Can't Have You…: Paulina outright says this to Danny in the sequel's alternate timeline since she'd rather he be dead than let Ember take him from her again.
  • I Gave My Word: In the sequel, Vlad keeps his promise to restore Paulina’s beauty and her old life as a rich heir, along with helping her make Danny hers.
  • I Have No Daughter!: After her crimes are foiled and exposed, Paulina gets disowned by her parents, who outright call her a monster and tell her she's nothing to them now.
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: Danny used to feel this way, but now it’s more of a sense that he is tired of the press and his fans interfering with his life. It's implied he longs for the days when he still had his secret and was able to blend in in broad daylight.
  • I Just Want to Be Special: Ember.
  • "I Know You're in There Somewhere" Fight: During Ember’s fight with a brainwashed Danny Phantom, she tries to get through to him by pointing out that Paulina is just using him by making him attack Sam and Dani. When that doesn’t work, Ember settles for breaking him free from Cupid’s arrows with a kiss.
  • I Love You Because I Can't Control You: Implied to be part of the reason for Aphrodite’s attraction to Clockwork since he is immune to her and Cupid’s powers. However, he does agree to spend Valentine’s day with her in the final chapter.
  • Inadequate Inheritor: Paulina's parents realize she's this after her crimes and disinherit her to the point they'll give their money to one of her cousins if they don't have any more children of their own.
  • Insufferable Imbecile: Roy Matthews has this opinion of his client Paulina when she sabotages their case by shouting out her obsession with Danny and admits to her own crimes.
  • I Take Offense to That Last One: Played for Drama. When Ember gets angry with Skulker in the flashback, she tells him about his many flaws (that he's bad boyfriend, doesn't know how to treat a girl, etc.) but Skulker only gets angry when she says that he's a bad hunter. Ember realises that he doesn't care about her, prompting her to break up with him and beat him to a pulp.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: Paulina's parents are ashamed that she is more concerned about being cut off than the fact that her parents are no longer with her when they disown her at the police station.
  • Just a Kid: Paulina’s status as a minor is the only thing keeping her out of jail when she’s convicted. She is sent to the Bludworth Youth Correctional Facility until she’s 21 years old, then placed on probation for 5 years upon her release. She will also be given a restraining order that prohibits her from coming within 50 feet of the Fentons, the Mansons, and Ember.
  • Karmic Transformation: Paulina, who built her whole life on having people lust after her for her looks, is transformed by Aphrodite so that she's now as ugly on the outside as she is on the inside.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: After being released from Bludworth, Paulina tries to find her parents because she assumes they've gotten over their hatred of her by now, but gives up when she sees that they "replaced" her with their second daughter, Priscilla.
  • A Lighter Shade of Black: Kitty is the least antagonistic of Danny's enemies and is fine with him dating Ember as she knows he's a good guy.
  • Love Potion: The premise of the story is Ember being placed under a love spell by Cupid and forced to fall in love with her worst enemy: Danny.
  • Love Redeems: Ember's love for Danny makes her pull a Heel–Face Turn.
  • Mad Love: Doesn't get any madder than Paulina wanting to enslave Danny and have him kill his loved ones.
  • Mask of Sanity: At first, Paulina just seems to be a typical Spoiled Brat and annoying fangirl but she quickly shows her true colors as an unhinged sociopath with an unhealthy obsession with Danny.
  • Mirror-Cracking Ugly: When the mirror Paulina uses to see how ugly Aphrodite made her in "Unshattered Bonds" cracked, the narration makes it unclear if it was because of her horrified scream upon seeing herself, or if it was her face that did it to the mirror.
  • Moral Myopia: As far as Paulina is concerned, kidnapping, enslaving, and trying to force herself onto Danny is okay but casting an ugly curse on her and arresting her for her crimes is unforgivable.
  • Murder the Hypotenuse: In the alternate timeline, Vlad does this to Jack so he can marry Maddie. Paulina also tries to do this Ember so she can't take Danny from her.
  • Never My Fault: Vlad and Paulina can't get it through their heads that their horrible actions made everyone hate them.
  • Nice Girl:
    • Priscilla has none of her older sister Paulina's negative qualities and is a total sweetheart.
    • Paulina describes her cousin Amelia as a geeky bookworm who values brains more than looks.
  • Nice Guy:
    • Danny is this in general.
    • Paulina describes her cousin Carlos as a major "goody-goody" who has no problem calling her out on her bratty behavior.
  • Not Afraid of You Anymore: During the climax of "Unshattered Bonds", Danny tells Vlad he's "NOT that scared little boy anymore...".
  • Not Good with Rejection: Paulina in spades.
  • Nothing Personal: Roy doesn’t have anything personal against Team Phantom and only agreed to defend Paulina at her trial because her parents promised to pay him a lot of money.
  • Only in It for the Money: Defense attorney Roy Matthews has nothing against Team Phantom and is only defending Paulina in court because her father offered him so much money to try and get his daughter out of the mess she got herself on.
  • Pair the Smart Ones: Tech geek Tucker Foley eventually starts dating honor student Jazz Fenton.
  • Parents as People: Paulina's parents realize that overindulging their daughter played a role in shaping her into a monster and strive to avoid making the same mistakes with Priscilla.
  • Pay Evil unto Evil: In the sequel, Ember gives Paulina a black eye after knocking her out with her guitar
  • Pet the Dog:
    • Paulina’s parents have cut ties with her but they still hire a good defense attorney for her trial, not that it helps since Paulina sabotaged her own defense through her stupidity and is sentenced to juvie.
    • It's extremely minor but Paulina does return Priscilla's ball to her.
    • Vlad actually keeps his promise to restore Paulina's beauty and help her marry Danny in the alternate timeline.
  • Positive Friend Influence: Danny's good nature helps inspire Ember to become a better person.
  • The Power of Love:
    • As a side effect of being under Cupid’s love spell, Ember gets frequent power boosts during the story and it’s what gives her the power she needs to save Danny from Paulina’s warped love spell at the end.
    • Ember's genuine love for Danny breaks him free from Paulina's control when she kisses him.
  • Proud Beauty: Paulina, to the point that Aphrodite says her narcissism rivals that of Narcissus.
  • Psychopathic Manchild:
    • Paulina is completely spoiled and immature, and throws tantrums every time things don't go her way.
    • At the end of the day, Vlad is little more than an entitled, petulant Spoiled Brat who also throws tantrums whenever things don’t go his way, making him no more mature than Paulina.
  • Punished with Ugly: Paulina's ultimate fate courtesy of Aphrodite's curse, a befitting end for a narcissistic Alpha Bitch turned villain.
  • Rags to Riches: In the sequel, Paulina and Vlad regain their wealthy lives thanks to altering the timeline and become akin to royalty when Vlad takes over the planet and Paulina plans to marry his stepson, Prince Danny. Of course, they lose all this in the end after being stopped by Danny and Ember, then are banished to the Unworld for eternity.
  • Raise Him Right This Time: Paulina's parents move to a middle-class neighborhood to raise Priscilla with a stricter, yet loving hand so she'll be a good person who values morals and hard work over looks, status, and wealth.
  • Really Gets Around: Cupid implies that Aphrodite was this in her youth. She doesn't deny it.
  • Redeeming Replacement: The Sanchez's are hoping to make Priscilla this for Paulina.
  • Replacement Goldfish: Sometime while Paulina was in prison, her parents had another daughter named Priscilla, who they take great pains to raise to become a better person than her older sister.
  • Rich Bitch: Paulina.
  • Riches to Rags:
    • After exposing his true half-ghost nature and failing to stop the Disasteroid in "Phantom Planet", Vlad is no longer one of the wealthiest people on the planet as he is reduced to a fugitive living in space.
    • Paulina goes from a beautiful, popular girl and wealthy heiress to an ugly homeless woman surviving off eating from the trash and shelters after serving her sentence at Bludworth Youth Correctional Facility since her parents cut ties with her after her trial and none of her old associates want anything to do with her anymore because of her crimes.
  • Ripple-Effect-Proof Memory: When Vlad and Paulina alter reality, Ember retains her memories of the original timeline because Clockwork gave her a time medallion. It's later revealed that Cupid remembers the original timeline because spirits of love are immune to time alterations.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Connections!: Paulina tries to intimidate the cops into releasing her from prison by threatening to sic her rich parents on them. Subverted because the police ignore her threats and Paulina's parents refuse to bail her out of the trouble she got herself in since they accept she brought it on herself.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Money!: After being defeated and told that she will be facing serious charges, Paulina tries to pull this card by saying that her father’s lawyers won’t allow her to be arrested. However, Sam, who is Secretly Wealthy, points out the number of crimes Paulina committed and that the former also has access to good lawyers who will make sure she doesn’t get away with them.
  • Shallow Cannot Comprehend True Love: Vlad and Paulina can't get it through their heads that Maddie and Danny despise them for being horrible people because they're too narcissistic to understand what's wrong with themselves.
  • Shipper on Deck:
    • Kitty supports Ember's relationship with Danny because she knows he's boyfriend material from when she dated him while overshadowing Paulina.
    • The "Deleted Scenes" reveal that Danielle is an avid supporter of Danny and Ember's relationship.
  • Shipper with an Agenda: Vlad only helps Paulina marry Danny because she’s proven to be a useful ally and he figures being stuck with someone as unbearable as her is punishment enough for Danny.
  • Sibling Yin-Yang: Paulina is a snobby bully turned sociopathic yandere while her younger sister Priscilla is an innocent Nice Girl.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: Even when Cupid's power is wearing off, Ember develops a genuine attraction to Danny, who has none of the negative qualities her past boyfriends had.
  • Smarter Than You Look: Despite usually being The Ditz, Paulina is able to persuade Vlad into teaming up with her in the sequel by telling him he needs her to get past Aphrodite since men are helpless against her beauty.
  • Sore Loser: Vlad and Paulina can't stand losing.
  • Spiteful Spit: Danny spits in Paulina's face while she has him tied up with the Fenton Fisher.
  • Spoiled Brat: This is Paulina's personality in a nutshell since she can't take "no" for an answer and is entitled to inhuman levels. Her parents work hard to avoid turning their second daughter Priscilla into one by raising her with love and discipline so she actually knows right from wrong.
  • Stalker with a Crush: Paulina towards Danny and taken to very disturbing levels.
  • Stupid Evil:
    • Vlad and Paulina are willing to put reality at risk just to get what they want by using Clcokwork's time staff to alter the past.
    • To say Paulina's obsession with Danny completely ruined her life is a giant understatement.
      • Paulina’s stubborn pride causes her to ruin her own defense at trial when she reveals her unhealthy fixation with Danny and unthinkingly admits her crimes.
  • Tantrum Throwing: Paulina throws a loud one when Danny tells her he hates her for brainwashing him until Ember slaps her. Then she throws an even louder one when Aphrodite casts an ugly curse on her until Clockwork freezes her in time just to shut her up.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Vlad does NOT like working with a Spoiled Brat like Paulina in the sequel and only agrees to a partnership because he needs her to get past Aphrodite.
  • Teen Idol: Ember's ultimate desire is to be this and Danny is okay with it as long as she doesn’t force people into liking her music. He even reveals that he thinks she doesn’t need to do it.
  • Tempting Fate: In "Unshattered Bonds", Ember's role in Chapter 3 ends with her believing nothing could ruin things for her. The next scene shows Vlad returning to Earth.
  • This Is Unforgivable!: Team Phantom, Clockwork, Aphrodite, and the Observers decide that Vlad and Paulina went too far by almost destroying the timeline and punish them by trapping them in the Unworld for eternity.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass:
    • Paulina goes from an Abhorrent Admirer and Stalker with a Crush to an insanely possessive yandere who's fine with essentially turning Danny into her own personal Sex Slave.
    • Penelope Spectra becomes more rude and hostile to Ember and Kitty when the former starts dating Danny, accusing Ember of being a traitor for siding with the enemy. She takes it further by insulting them and their boyfriends, which earns her an ecto-ray.
  • Took a Level in Kindness:
    • After genuinely falling in love with Danny, Ember drops her plans to take over the world and settles for just becoming a popular singer.
    • In the sequel, Cupid becomes moved by Ember's sincere love for Danny and agrees to help her save him.
  • Tragic Villain: Ember eventually reveals that she was severely bullied when she was alive and tragically died in a house fire after being stood up on a date with the guy she had a huge crush on.
  • Tranquil Fury: In the alternate timeline when Ember infiltrates Vlad's castle as a servant, she has to suppress her rage when around Paulina, which isn't easy given the Spoiled Brat's snobby and unpleasant attitude, so she settles for getting payback by tricking the Hispanic girl into eating a sandwich she spat in.
  • Turned Off By The Jerkass: Ember McLain is one of Danny’s enemies and he finds her FAR more appealing than his yandere Abhorrent Admirer, Paulina Sanchez.
  • Uneven Hybrid: In Unshattered Bonds, Danny and Ember have four children, all of whom are only 1/4 human due to their father being a human-ghost hybrid and their mother being a full ghost. They apparently cannot morph as a result.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Paulina has three:
    • When Aphrodite casts her first ugly curse on Paulina, she throws a really loud tantrum that forces Clockwork to freeze her in time just to shut her up.
    • When Paulina's parents disown and cut ties with her at the police station, she's reduced to a crying mess.
    • Both Vlad and Paulina (who also has to suffer a second ugly curse from Aphrodite) are reduced to screaming when they're banished to the Unworld.
  • Villainesses Want Heroes: Played with a bit in Ember's case.
  • Violently Protective Girlfriend: Ember (under the spell) becomes this towards Danny. After the spell is lifted, she is still very protective of Danny and will not hesitate to give anyone who harms him a good ass-whooping.
  • Wasted Beauty: Danny no longer cares about Paulina's looks and just sees her for the annoying, spoiled mean girl she truly is. The "beauty" part is subverted when Aphrodite curses Paulina to be just as ugly on the outside as she is on the inside.
  • Why Did You Make Me Hit You?: Paulina says this to Danny after slapping him when he spits in her face for kidnapping and tying him up with the Fenton Fisher.
  • Wicked Stepfather: It's an understatement that Vlad is a horrible parent to the Fenton kids in the alternate timeline as he's controlling, demanding, and downright emotionally abusive by forcing Danny to join the Casper High football team, making him ditch Sam and Tucker to join the A-Listers, nagging him to get better grades, and pressuring him to marry Paulina.
  • World's Most Beautiful Woman: Paulina certainly believes she is this, due to her massive ego and status as the Alpha Bitch. However, the real owner of this title is Cupid's mother Aphrodite.
  • Yandere:
    • Paulina, especially towards the end. She even said this line after Danny turns her down in chapter 8.
Paulina: Ghost boy... Who said you even have a choice?
    • Vlad becomes one to Maddie in the sequel by being willing to manipulate reality and kill Jack just to take his family from him.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Clockwork all but says this to Ember in chapter 13 when he tries to convince her to save Danny from Paulina.
  • You Monster!: Paulina's parents say this to her out of shame for their daughter's heinous crimes and cut off all ties with her.
