This page is for the random schoolboys who give Ayano-chan someone to play off of and give Akademi High School a bit more depth. They don't particularly advance the main story, although some may serve as side quests, provide buffs, or become part of your elaborate schemes - and all serve as "walking security cameras" to prevent Ayano from eliminating her rivals too easily.

    Tropes common to all boys

Tropes common to all boys

  • Covert Pervert: Well, someone's buying panty shot photos from Info-chan.
  • Dies Wide Open: Corpses in this game generally have their eyes open.
  • Driven to Suicide: This may be a possibility in the final game if you destroy their reputation enough – since you can technically gossip about anyone (except Senpai, Info-chan, the student you are gossiping with, and yourself) – albeit only through sheer determination and malice on the player's part.
  • Heroic Bystander: If Yan-chan murders someone in front of a sufficiently large group of them, they'll pin her down and capture her.
  • Oh, Crap!: When witnessing something bad happen.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: As of July 1st, 2020 several students have been given official names in addition to their punny nicknames, they are still referred to by these nicknames currently.
  • Ordinary High-School Student: Are this - most of them, at least.
  • Put on a Bus: All of the Rainbow Boys save Riku were removed from the game in the August 18th, 2018 build because they weren't contributing anything to the game and YandereDev wanted to free up room for more important characters. That said, YandereDev brought them back in 1980s Mode.
  • Spear Counterpart: The first six boys to be introduced to the game all had the same color scheme as one of the original six girls. In the early debug builds, they were also in the same homeroom as that girl. Originally, they shared a club with that girl as well, though eventually the boys were in no club, and the girls were in the cooking club.
  • Teacher's Pet: All the boys were originally coded with this personality. Whenever they saw something bad, they would run straight to get a teacher. They have been significantly diversified since then.
  • Theme Naming: Seen in a few different ways.
    • The Rainbow Boys. Like their female counterparts, their names were taken from a list of the most common Japanese names in 2012.
    • The Occult Club boys' names are all puns related to the occult.
    • The Martial Arts Club boys' names are references to both their hobby and their strength levels.
    • The Cooking Club boys' names are a reference to their preferred foods.
    • The delinquents have names that reference the placement of their scars.
    • The Gaming Club boys have names that reference a video game.
    • The Sports Club have names that reference a sea creature.
    • The Science Club have names that relate to science.
    • The Art Club boys have names that reference art supplies.
    • The Photography Club boys have names that reference Scooby-Doo characters (this is also true of the girls).
  • Wide Eyes and Shrunken Irises: When scared. Or stabbed in the face.

    Clubless Male Students

Kyuji Konagawa

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kyuji_konagawa.png

"I'm not a bad guy, I'm just... not good at talking to girls..."

A student who was popular and sociable until a few weeks ago, when he suddenly became very withdrawn and distant. He doesn't seem to be willing to discuss his feelings with anyone and prefers to be alone with his thoughts. As of the August 31st, 2020 build, he can be paired with Osana if you use the Matchmaking elimination method.

  • Alliterative Name: Kyuji Konagawa.
  • Cannot Talk to Women: It turns out this is the reason he suddenly became a loner after previously being more sociable, as his difficulty talking to girls is preventing him from courting Osana. Ayano can help him to do if she uses the Matchmaking elimination method.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: If Ayano helps him change his appearance, and if he listens to Ayano's advice for conversation topics and gifts for all five weekdays, Kyuji can end up dating his crush Osana.
  • Gentleman and a Scholar: He's already polite, but Ayano will need to help him improve his scholarship and fulfill this trope to make him attractive to Osana if Ayano's using the Matchmaking elimination method.
  • The Makeover: To matchmake him with Osana, Ayano will need to tell Kyuji to change his appearance in certain ways: tan skin, glasses, a ponytail, and piercings.
  • Misunderstood Loner with a Heart of Gold: When Ayano speaks to Kyuji, Kyuji turns out to be a pleasant person; he just has trouble talking to girls.
  • Nice Guy: What he turns out to be when Ayano speaks to him.
  • Not What It Looks Like: Kyuji insists that he just has trouble talking to girls; he's not a creep. But he admits that he probably looks like one, since he hangs out where Osana is but has trouble speaking to her.
  • Shrinking Violet: He used to be popular, but now he has difficulty talking to girls, which is why he hasn't confessed his feelings to Osana sooner.
  • Significant Green-Eyed Redhead: One of the only students to have these features, and now that the "official demo" has been released as of August 31st, 2020, he is revealed to be Osana's suitor.
  • Used to Be More Social: Until only a few weeks ago.

Otohiko Meichi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/new_student_2_6.png
A clumsy and sickly student who often oversleeps and arrives late to school. He's often bullied for his girly appearance and mannerisms.
  • Cute Clumsy Boy: Trips over his own feet at the front gate.
  • Delicate and Sickly: He is very frail and sickly and spends a lot of time in the Nurse's office. This contributes to the speculation that he is Muja's suitor.
  • Girly Run: One of his feminine mannerisms.
  • In Touch with His Feminine Side: Has feminine mannerisms.
  • Late for School: Subverted. He arrives at school later than other students, but he makes it to class just in time.
  • Not a Morning Person: Often oversleeps and shows up late.
  • Off with His Head!: If you close the school's gates at the right time once he trips in front of the entrance, his head will get crushed.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: A rare male example.
  • Your Head Asplode: Every day, he trips at the front gate, and his head is conveniently where the gates would close. If you close the gates at the right time, then what you expect will happen.

Hazu Kashibuchi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hazu_kashibuchi.png

"I'm not good at anything except sewing, but...if you ever need anything - like, a spare uniform, maybe - I'd be happy to help!"

A very timid student. His worst fear is having negative social interactions, so he chooses to seclude himself from others. He is exceptionally talented at sewing and can often be found in the Sewing Room.

  • Because You Were Nice to Me: If you get him a drink, he'll offer you a spare uniform any time you need one afterward.
  • Lonely Doll Boy: The desk to the left of where he sits in the back of the sewing room has a large number of fabric dolls on it. He likely made them himself.
  • Shrinking Violet: Very shy and tends to seclude himself in the sewing room.
  • Textile Work Is Feminine: He is shy, timid, and very skilled at sewing.

Toga Tabara

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/toga_tabara.png
A student who is struggling to determine what he is going to do with his life after graduating. Last year, he spent time as a member of each club but didn't feel like he belonged with any of them. He can often be seen wandering the school aimlessly, deep in thought, contemplating his future.

    Martial Arts Club
The members of the school's Martial Arts Club were introduced to the game in November 2015. They were the first students to have the Heroic persona, meaning that they will attempt to apprehend you, triggering a game over if you fail the minigame.

Budo Matsuyama/Budo Masuta

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/martial_leader.png

"Defeat is a state of mind! No one is ever defeated until defeat has been accepted as a reality!"

Voiced by: Patrick Seymour

The president of the Martial Arts Club, introduced into the game with the school expansion in mid-November 2015. He has messy black hair and dark gray eyes, and his persona is Heroic. He's the strongest member of his club (and likely the third strongest student overall*), which you'll find out the hard way if he sees you attacking people. He is in class 3-2.

  • Asskicking Leads to Leadership: He attained the position of president of the Martial Arts club by beating his predecessor in single combat.
  • Badass Arm-Fold: His default idle stance includes this.
  • Badass Bystander: If he sees you kill someone, he will attempt to take you down - with his bare hands, no less.
  • Bully Hunter: His profile on the website states that he has a distaste for bullies and delinquents and is quick to rush to the aid of anyone being picked on. Ironically, he does nothing if the Bullies pick on him.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Will deliver one to you if he sees you hurt someone and you haven't significantly leveled up your P.E. stats.
  • Defeating the Undefeatable: He ended up defeating his predecessor, Raibaru, and breaking her 100 matches winning streak. Doing this got him promoted to club leader in the first place.
  • Determinator: See the above quote. He considers defeat to be all in one's head.
  • Dramatic Irony: When you ask him about his club, he pitches it by mentioning that "If you join our club, I guarantee that you'll be able to defend yourself from anyone that might try to hurt you!" What he doesn't know is that he's talking to someone more likely to use what he taught her to hurt others.
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation:
    • Despite being described as a Bully Hunter, he does nothing if he sees the Bullies picking on someone. He doesn't even retaliate if they pick on him!
    • He's supposed to be one of the strongest students in the school and defeated Raibaru in single combat yet is still capable of being killed by conventional attacks while his predecessor Raibaru is not.
  • Get Out!: If he (somehow) survives witnessing you commit murder, his response to you attempting to join the Martial Arts Club is quite succinct.
"You are not welcome here! Leave at once!"
  • I'm Not Afraid of You: Nonverbal example. Even at zero atmosphere, his default mode doesn't change at all, making him stand out in the crowd of scared classmates. According to YandereDev, this is a bug, though Heroic personalities will likely have their animations be less fearful and more watchful.
  • Klingon Promotion: An accidental example. After he defeated the previous president in single combat, said previous president decided she now had an excuse to retire and left the club in his hands.
  • Martial Arts Headband: Much like the rest of his club.
  • Meaningful Name: "Budō" (武道) translates to "Martial Arts" – as in the famous Nippon Budokan sports arena. "Masuta" is how the Japanese say "master".note  So his name means "martial arts master".
  • Nice Guy: He's said to be known for his friendly and approachable attitude, which is one of the reasons for his popularity at Akademi High. Indeed, he's very affable when you speak to him in his club room.
  • The Power of Love: It's rumored among the students that the reason he became so dedicated to martial arts at first is that he had a crush on his predecessor (Raibaru) and wanted to impress her, but she ended up stepping down as club president upon his defeating her.
  • Rank Scales with Asskicking: He's the head of the Martial Arts club, and he'll easily kick your ass if you're not strong enough.
  • Spirited Competitor: He is practically incapable of turning down any challenge he comes across.
  • Surpassed the Teacher: In Raibaru's backstory, he was her star pupil until he defeated her in a duel, at which point she retired and passed the club to him. The student has now become the teacher.
  • Weak, but Skilled: He's merely at Peak Human Conditioning, as opposed to Raibaru being classified as Invincible. That said, he still bested her in single combat, and earned the right to lead the Martial Arts Club.
  • World's Best Warrior: Earned the right to this title when he took the club.
  • World's Strongest Man: Strongest male student and third strongest student overall.

Sho Kunikida/Sho Kunin

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shofeb19th2019_5.png

A brown-haired male student who is also a member of the Martial Arts Club. Naturally, this means he has a Heroic persona. His strength is mid-level – weaker than Budo and Mina but stronger than Juku or Shima. He's in Class 2-2.

  • Anime Hair: The February 2016 "hair update" gave him a style resembling a pointy mini-pompadour.
  • Big Damn Heroes: He made national news when he singlehandedly saved a woman from a group of muggers.
  • Martial Arts Headband: Wears one like the rest of the club.
  • Punny Name: Shokunin can mean "Journeyman", which is his position in the club under Budo.
  • Surpassed the Teacher: It's expected that he'll surpass Budo's skill and become the martial arts club leader when Budo graduates.

Juku Renbutsu/July Ren

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jukufeb19th2019.png

A light-brown-haired student who is another member of the Martial Arts Club. He joined because of his love of martial arts movies and isn't the most dedicated to actual self-defense. He's the only Teacher's Pet in the group, and his self-defense is Very Weak. He is in Class 1-2.

  • Ironic Name: Jukuren (熟練) means "skilled" or "proficient"; he's the weakest member of the Martial Arts club.
  • Martial Arts Headband: Notice a theme?
  • What the Fu Are You Doing?: He's more interested in replicating movie martial arts moves than in actually learning self-defense techniques.

    Occult Club
The male members of Akademi's Occult Club. They spend much of their free time in the clubroom researching the paranormal or trying to summon a demon.

Shin Higaonna/Shin Higaku

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shin_higaku_1.png

The Occult Club's second-in-command, introduced in the New Year 2016 build. Since Oka will be a Rival in the final game, he'll run the club until her week (and after if she's "removed"*). He is a Teacher's Pet, the only one in the Occult Club. He is in Class 3-2.

  • The Lancer: To Oka, who tasked him to run the Occult Club in her absence.
  • Messy Hair: His hair looks like a shorter, more masculine version of Oka's.
  • Number Two: Seems to be this to Oka since he runs the Occult Club if she's not at school.
  • Punny Name: Shinhigaku (神秘学) means "occultism" in Japanese.
  • Spear Counterpart: He and Oka are the only Occult Club members who don't have their right eyes covered, and he will run the club in her place until her week.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: If you kill someone in front of him, he'll call you a demon for it.
We study demons, but we don't admire them. You are banished... demon.

Chojo Terajima/Chojo Tekina

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2_8_2016___chojopicture.png

A boy in the Occult Club with bangs covering his right eye. He is a coward, in class 2-1.

  • Eye Scream: Like the rest of the Occult Club members (other than Shin or Oka), he covers his right eye. Some speculate it's because of an injury.
  • Punny Name: His is a play on chojoteki na (超常的な), which means "paranormal".

Daku Atsuzawa/Daku Atsu

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2_8_2016___dakupicture.png

A boy in the Occult Club, who can be identified by his glasses that are opaque in the right eye. A member of Class 1-1, he has the coward persona.

  • All the Other Reindeer: In the "Bullies and Phone Addicts" video, he is targeted for bullying by Musume's Girl Posse.
  • Eye Scream: He continues the motif of his club-mates by having one of his lenses be opaque. It may be because of an injury.
  • Punny Name: His name is the katakana transliteration of "dark arts".
  • Scary Shiny Glasses: One of the lenses in his glasses has this appearance, and he is interested in the occult. Student Info tells us that it's opaque in design, and no one has ever seen his other eye.

    Art Club
The male members of Akademi's Art Club, who by and large spend their time painting subjects they find interesting in Akademi's halls. It's probably not a good idea to casually stroll through the halls looking like a murder suspect anymore...

Geiju Tsuburaya/Geiju Tsuka

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/geiju_tsuka.png

"We paint. We sculpt. We craft."

The president of the Art Club.

  • Ambiguously Related: As of July 1st, 2020, he shares his last name with Shoku, the Vice President of the cooking club.
  • Fiery Redhead: Inverted; his hair is red, but he's a shy and quiet person.
  • Get Out!: While far more polite than most examples of this trope, he asks you to leave if you try to join the Art Club after he witnesses you committing murder.
    "Please leave."
  • Punny Name: His name is derived from "geijutsuka", meaning "artist".
  • The Quiet One: He is known for being a man of few words.
  • Terse Talker: His sentences are restricted to about two words each.

Enji Yodogawa/Enpitsu Byoga

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/enpitsu_byoga.png

A vain member of the art club. Only paints beautiful subjects... and self-portraits. He has the social butterfly persona and spends his time painting a picture of a small sculpture of a woman.

Boru Sadatoshi/Borupen Sashiki

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/borupen_saishiki.png

A brooding member of the Art Club. Exclusively paints dark and morbid subjects and would be in the Occult Club if the Art Club didn't exist. He spends all his time outside the occult club, painting a skull found on a table there. He has the Spiteful persona.

  • Darker and Edgier: His artworks. He is currently the only student with a Spiteful persona.
  • Emo Teen: Gives off this vibe as an edgy person.
  • False Friend: He often interacts with members of his club, but if any one (or all) of them have a low enough reputation, he'll immediately turn on them without batting an eye.
  • No Sympathy: Despite having a low reputation (and potential bully victim) himself, he doesn't sympathize with bully victims who are murdered, infact, he even delights himself in seeing their demise.
  • Perpetual Frowner: Ignoring his profile picture above, his face is always locked in an angry grimace (except when Ayano kills anyone he hates where he'll sport a sinister smirk instead).
  • Psychotic Smirk: Gets a rather sinister looking one complete with Finger-Tenting upon witnessing the death of a person he hates.
  • Punny Name: Ballpen.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: Played With. He has black hair and red eyes and is Spiteful, meaning that he will take pleasure at the murder of someone who is bullying him. But while technically not evil, the fact that he is delightful at the sight of someone he hates dead regardless of circumstances (like bully victims for example) makes him one.
  • The Resenter: He didn't have a Spiteful persona for nothing.
  • Technicolor Eyes: He has bright red peepers.

    Gaming Club
The male members of Akademi's Gaming Club, an informal club not officially recognized by the Akademi staff. They are obsessed with a Pokémon GO-esque Magical Girl Pretty Miyuki Augmented Reality game and wander the school's halls trying to kill monsters from the game.

Gema Takagaki/Gema Taku

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gema_taku.png

"Can't you tell what our club is about just from the name alone?! Do you have brain damage or something?! Or did you just come here to look down on us because we have a different hobby than you?"

Voiced by: Steve "Warky" Nunez

The president of the Gaming Club.

  • Chick Magnet: After the player tells him why the bullies find him so unattractive, he changes his appearance and becomes one of these - so much that those same girls spend their lunchtime staring at him.
  • Friendless Background: He's described as antisocial and difficult to get along with. It wasn't until he started the Gaming Club that he developed a friend group.
  • He Cleans Up Nicely: He wants to go on a date with one of the bullies, and after telling him why they find him so unattractive, he completely changes his appearance - for the better.
  • I Just Want to Have Friends: Although his unpleasant attitude doesn't help much.
  • Jerkass: He's not a very nice person.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: If you propose leaving his club, but change your mind.
Gema: Why would you even bring up the subject if you didn't actually intend to leave? It's like you're testing all of my dialogue options just to hear my voiced lines, or something. Weirdo.
  • Nerd Glasses: He wears some round glasses with swirls in their lenses.
  • Opaque Nerd Glasses: Has the spiral variety (think Umino/Melvin from Sailor Moon).
  • Otaku: Is completely obsessed with video games and anime.
  • Perma-Stubble: He has constant unkempt stubble, indicating that he neglects his hygiene to play video games.
  • Punny Name: His name is Engrish for "Game Attack" or "Game Otaku".
  • Shout-Out: To the Leeroy Jenkins Video during his club activity.
Gema: I'm uh, coming' up with uh, thirty-two-point-three-three, uh...repeating, of course, uh, percentage of survival.
  • Sore Loser: Is a very sore loser with competitive games.

Ryuto Ippongo

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ryuto_ippongo.png

"Nobody understands the bond between me and my bandana..."

Voiced by: Lucas Boggie

Introduced into the game in September 2015, he was the first male student outside of the Rainbow Boys and Senpai. Belongs to the Gaming Club. He has a crush on Pippi Osu, and it is stated the feeling is mutual - though neither party knows it. Ryuto has spiky red hair, red eyes*, and a bright red bandana.

  • Anime Hair: Hoo boy. Blood red with black highlights, spiked in a way that would impress Goku. The style was streamlined in the October 2015 update that made his design less infringing, but it's still pretty crazy.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: He spends time playing games with Pippi for hours every single day, yet she has no idea he likes her. For what it's worth, the same applies to her.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: He's convinced that his red headband is the source of his energy and power. When he loses it, he tells Yan-chan that he "can feel his life force draining away".
  • Curtains Match the Window: His eyes are red, like his hair. Originally, his eyes were grey, averting this, but they were changed along with his hairstyle and eyebrows to make his design less infringing (see expy below).
  • Dramatic Irony: If you complete his task, he says this:
"My bandana! You found it! You've saved my life! I'll be in your debt forever! Unless you, like, kill someone in front of me or something like that, haha!"
    • This can, of course, be subverted if you have Yan-chan not murder anyone in front of him.
  • Everyone Can See It: According to Midori on мσм0кι's (non-canonical) SoundCloud account, Ryuto and Pippi are this.
  • Expy: Confirmed to be a thinly-veiled parody of Ryuta Ippongi from Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan. His crush on Pippi Osu certainly makes a lot of sense in that case.
  • Phoneaholic Teenager: Has the "Phone Addict" persona as of the February 20, 2018 build, and spends all his time playing mobile games.
  • The Power of Love: If Ayano murders Pippi in front of him, he'll come at her with all the strength of a maxed-out Heroic student.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: He goes ballistic if you kill Pippi Osu in front of him.
  • Unstoppable Rage: He'll jack you up from here to next Wednesday if he sees you kill his Love Interest.

    Photography Club
The male members of Akademi's Photograpy Club, otherwise known as The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything club. They joined the club as an excuse to goof off with friends, but their desire to make a name for themselves could prove to be a formidable threat to Yandere-chan should her "activities" catch their investigative attention.

Fred Jones/Fureddo Jonzu

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fureddo.png

The president of the Photography Club. Doesn't actually preside over any photography. Has the Sleuth persona, which means that he reacts like a Heroic persona when the school atmosphere is high, but when it drops below 90% (equivalent to 1 student being murdered and the body found, or two students going missing), he'll get more watchful and paranoid. When it drops below 80%, he'll start investigating every student in the school individually, including Yandere-chan. When he sees something suspicious at that point, he'll react as a Phone Addict would. Uniquely for the Photography club, his self-defense level is Strong, and if he sees you commit murder before School Atmosphere drops, he'll react like a Hero.

  • Beware the Silly Ones: The Photography Club was originally just an excuse for some laid-back students to hang out, but if the School Atmosphere drops too low, and the presence of a murderer on campus becomes apparent, the club goes into Sleuth mode and can easily become Yan-chan's biggest threat.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Initially an easygoing goofball (though with the Heroic persona, unique to Photography Club members), he'll step up his game at lower atmospheres and will be able to dish out game overs to any careless murderers.
  • Expy: Of Fred Jones.
  • Iconic Item: His profile on the official site shows him wearing a blue ascot, similar to his inspiration's famous orange one. Before Christmas 2018, it was red, resembling Fred even more.
  • Idiot Hair: He has a small cowlick on the right side of his head, likely to help demonstrate his generally carefree nature.
  • The Leader: His profile describes him as a "Natural-born Leader".
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: He's laid-back and friendly, but once the school atmosphere drops, he gets serious along with it and can easily catch you out and give you a game over.
  • Nice Guy: He's a very kind, friendly boy who cares deeply about his friends and the rest of the school. He's more than happy to let Ayano into the club and invites her to hang out with him and the rest of the gang when she joins up.
  • Punny Name: His name is just Engrish for "Fred Jones", the character he's an Expy of.

Rojasu Norubiru

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rojasu_norubiru_2.png

A member of the Photography club and the most laid-back student at school. Has the Sleuth persona, meaning he gets more dangerous to the player as School Atmosphere drops. Before the atmosphere dropping, he'll react like a Social Butterfly, but if you kill another Photography Club member in front of him, he'll react like a Hero. Getaway with murder while he (or any other Photography club member) is a witness, and he'll switch to the Stalker persona, meaning that he'll follow Yandere-chan around hoping to catch her in the act again.

Sukubi Dubidu

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sukubi_dubidu_2.png

One of the Photography Club Members. Is known for being lazy, eating snacks in class, and taking naps. Has the Sleuth persona.

  • Ambiguously Brown: So far, the only student other than the bullies to have tan skin. It's intimated that Musume and her friends have artificial tans. Sukubi's tan just might be natural.
  • Ambiguously Gay: One of his stories is that he has a master in the bondage club who wants everyone to know that Sukubi belongs to him. However, YandereDev has said he might have only added the male pronouns for extra shock value.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Some of his stories are... odd. To say the least.
  • Humanity Ensues: One of Sukubi's stories about the dog collar he wears is that he's actually a Great Dane and was turned human by a magical dog collar.
  • Kindhearted Cat Lover: Inverted. His interests tab reveal that for some reason he hates cats.
  • Multiple-Choice Past: Every time someone asks about the dog collar he wears, he gives a different answer.
  • Punny Name: Three words: Scooby-Dooby-Doo!
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: He goes feral if you kill a member of the Photography Club in front of him.

    Science Club
The male members of Akademi High's science club. They want to be recognized by actual invention companies while still in high school and have invented some tools to achieve that goal - tools Ayano can potentially use. They also will occasionally go and get things from the school's storage closets, preventing Ayano from storing corpses there until the end of the day. Their weakness is listed as "Noise Complaints."

Kaga Kusha

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/science_leader.png
Welcome... to my lair! I mean... the Science Club. What do you seek?

Voiced by: Patrick Seymour

The brilliant, eccentric president of the Science Club. His hobbies include plotting world domination, trying to build a giant robot, and stalking Megami Saikou.

  • Alliterative Name: Kaga Kusha.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: For all his craziness, he is legitimately intelligent – the smartest student in the school. The only reason he hasn't skipped to college yet is because of his world domination plans, which somehow involve Akademi and the Saikou family, who fund the school.
  • Child Prodigy: According to his profile on the official website…
"He was reading by age 2, writing by age 4, could speak multiple languages by age 6, demonstrated a genius-level IQ by age 8, and passed multiple college-level proficiency tests before age 10."
  • Evil Laugh: Does this when you join the Science Club.
  • Expendable Clone: At the end of the March 2017 Update Video, he is shown to have dozens of Midori Gurin clones dormant in glass containers, waiting to release a new one once the currently active clone dies. This may or may not be canon to the game itself.
  • Kindhearted Cat Lover: Inverted. According to his interests tab, he hates cats.
  • Humongous Mecha: The Science Club's activity is to try to construct a giant robot, although the idea could be suggested by Meka.
  • Labcoat of Science and Medicine: His official artwork shows him wearing one over his school uniform. Sure enough, he and the rest of his club wear them in-game - even when they're in English class.
  • Large Ham: Speaks in a very dramatic, over the top manner.
  • Mad Scientist: Very much so.
  • Punny Name: His name is derived from "kagaku-sha", meaning "scientist".
  • Red Armband of Leadership: He wears one decorated with an Erlenmeyer flask symbol, representing his position as leader of the Science Club.
  • Stalker without a Crush: He frequently stalks Megami Saikou, which may have something to do with his expressed goal of taking control of her family's company. Whether or not he has a crush on her in addition to that is up in the air.
    • His in-game profile originally stated he had no crush, but it was later changed to ????.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: His experiments tend to be explosive. Indeed, his weakness is stated to be noise complaints.
  • Take Over the World: He openly speaks of his ambitions for world domination though he doesn't divulge the specifics of his master plan beyond saying that his enrollment in Akademi is merely "the first step" to his ambitions. However, the fact that he wants to take over the powerful Saikou Corp conglomerate, and regularly stalks the heiress of said conglomerate who attends that school, gives a good idea of his plan.
  • Teen Genius: Smart enough to skip to college - but he's in Akademi instead to advance his world domination plans.
  • Verbal Backspace: Does this several times when he accidentally mentions his plans for world domination, which he apparently thinks are still a secret.
  • We Have Reserves: His appearance in The Stinger of the March 2017 update has him saying something to this effect when activating another Midori Gurin clone after the previous one dies.

Horo Guramu

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/horo_guramu.png

A brilliant young man who wants to bring science fiction into reality. Has made international news due to his contributions to the field of holographic and is presumably the one behind the holographic screens in the Science Club room. His persona is Teacher's Pet.

Yaku Zaishi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yaku_zaishi.png
Voiced by: Nathan Sharp note

A chemist who loves observing chemical reactions but gets evasive whenever questioned about his intentions.

    Sports Club
Asu Rito's club. They spend their time running on the school's track and swimming in its pool, and their need to change into and out of gym clothes and swimsuits means that the Locker Room isn't quite the hideout it used to be for the yandere looking to clean up some evidence.

Itachi Zametora

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/itachi_zametora.png
"Tch… you really think you got what it takes to roll with us?"

Substitute leader of the sports club. He is a gruff and competitive boy who never misses a chance to show off his impressive strength. His persona is Hero, and he is at Peak Physical Strength.

  • Big Ol' Eyebrows: They're even more impressive than Ryuto's first design.
  • Expy: His red hair and goatee, being a member of the sports club, and having a Jerk with a Heart of Gold personality all make him very similar to Leon Kuwata.
  • Foil: To Asu Rito. While Asu is cheery and positive, Itachi is gruff and unfriendly towards everyone.
  • Get Out!: If he (somehow) survives seeing you commit murder, his response to you trying to join the Sports Club is brutal.
"You're lucky I'm not snapping your neck right where you stand. Get out of here."
  • Goggles Do Nothing: Okay, so he does use his goggles for swimming, but he wears them for the entire school day and not just when he's in the pool.
  • Hypocrite: According to YandereDev, he thinks people who don't stand up for themselves when they are being bullied deserve it, but if you lower his reputation, so Musume claps erasers on his head, he doesn't stand up for himself at all.
  • Jerk Jock: He speaks rather rudely and even makes it clear you wouldn't be in the sports club if Asu hadn't told him anyone could join.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: His personality profile pegs him as 'unfriendly' (if his rude dialogue didn't), but he is a Hero and will thus risk his own life to take you down if he sees that you've murdered someone. Plus, he is willing to respect Asu's wishes in her absence, even when he doesn't agree with her.
  • Meaningful Name: His last name comes from the Japanese word for 'Tiger Shark'.
  • Significant Green-Eyed Redhead: Subverted - the fact that he's the Sports Club second-in-command implies that he might be Asu Rito's suitor, but her suitor is more likely to be Iruka Dorofino.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: He has the same strength level as Budo, but it's phrased as 'Peak Physical Strength' instead of 'Martial Arts Master'.

Unagi Denkashiza

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/unagi_denkashiza.png

A member of the Sports Club in Class 2-2. He is a former delinquent, and although he hasn't caused any trouble at Akademi, his reputation means that he has a hard time making friends. He has a Hero persona and a strength level of Strong.

  • Hero with Bad Publicity: Despite having the Hero persona, most students are afraid of him because of his background as a delinquent.
  • Kindhearted Cat Lover: Inverted. He's a former delinquent, and his interests tab reveal that he hates cats.
  • Meaningful Name: His name translates to 'Eel Electrocution Flash'- or 'Electric Eel' if you want to be short about it.

Mantaro Sashimasu

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mantaro_sashimasu.png

A member of the sports club, in Class 1-1. He is a friendly kid who sees Budo Masuta as a role model. While he isn't as strong and fast as his club members (and indeed, his strength is Very Weak), he never gives up. He has the Hero persona.

  • Beware the Nice Ones: He's a Nice Guy, but he will still attempt to take Yandere-chan down if he sees that she's committed murder.
  • Determinator: He may not be as strong as his clubmates, but he keeps up by sheer stubbornness and refusal to quit.
  • Nice Guy: A total sweetheart.

Iruka Dorofino

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/iruka_dorufino.png

A member of the sports club in class 1-2. A very quiet boy who takes club activities incredibly seriously. It's rumored that he joined in the first place to impress someone he had a crush on. His persona is Heroic, and his strength level is Weak.

  • Beware the Quiet Ones: He's a quiet, introverted kid, and although he isn't very strong, he can get the jump on Yandere-chan if she forgot to level up her Strength, carried a two-handed weapon, or just sucked at the 'struggle' minigame.
  • Punny Name: 'Iruka' is Japanese for 'Dolphin', and 'Dorofino' is Engrish for, you guessed it, dolphin. So his name is 'Dolphin Dolphin'.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Played with. He is not evil or sinister, but if he catches Ayano murdering someone or trying to dispose of a corpse and hasn't raised her physical education to a certain level, he can put her ass in jail.
  • The Quiet One: He rarely talks.

Hojiro Zameshiro

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hojiro_zameshiro.png

A member of the sports club who attends class 3-1. Sees Itachi as his rival and consistently strives to surpass him - despite Itachi ignoring him for the most part. His persona is Hero, and his self-defense level is Very Strong.

Trusted to operate the Cooking Club when the leader is not present. A connoisseur of good food, with a very discerning palate. Dreams of becoming a world-famous 5-star chef. His persona is Social Butterfly. He prepares foie gras.

  • Get Out!: If you try to join the Cooking Club after he's seen you commit murder, he gives a quiet yet horrified response:
"You... killed someone. Someone who had friends. Loved ones. Hopes. Dreams. Plans for the future. Memories of the past. And... ah... all of that was just... wiped out. How could you do that? ... you need to leave."
  • Idiot Hair: Has a spiral-shaped lock of hair jutting out from his head; may represent his sweet and friendly personality
  • Nice Guy: Is very friendly and jovial when talking to the player.

Kenko Sukoyaka

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kenkonew.png

Committed to maintaining a healthy diet; intends to stay away from junk food for his entire life. He doesn't judge others for their dietary choices, but he evangelizes the benefits of healthy food at every opportunity. His persona is Social Butterfly. He prepares quiches.

  • Foil: To Saki Miyu. While Saki prefers unhealthy sweets, Kenko frequently extols the values of healthy food and aims to abstain from junk food his entire life.
  • Granola Guy: Downplayed. He does speak frequently of the benefits of healthy food and certainly has the look, but he doesn't judge the dietary choices of those around him.

Seiyo Akanishi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/seiyo_akanishi.png

Ethnically and nationally Japanese, but obsessed with everything Western: from Western cartoons to Western food. Loves to use English words in everyday speech. Believes he was a cowboy in a previous life. He prepares miniature hamburgers.

Riku Somatomo/Riku Soma

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rikudec2018.png

"It's good to find someone else who shares my appreciation for felines. Best of luck to you!"

Voiced by: Jonah Scott

A friendly student with a love of cats and a thick upper-class British accent. A member of the Drama Club, as of August 18th, 2018. His hair and eyes are purple. He has a crush on Kokona Haruka, and Yan-chan can try to make the feeling mutual.

  • Cannot Spit It Out: Watches Kokona from afar until Yan-chan steps in and helps him out.
  • Hidden Depths: He's very rich but tries (and fails) to hide it so his friends won't think less of him.
  • Kindhearted Cat Lover: According to his task, he loves kittens. This turned out to be important for the Matchmaking build.
  • Longing Look: Before all of Kokona's events were removed, he would go to watch her making octo-dogs in the Cooking Club.
  • Nice Guy: A polite young man who will happily pay off his girlfriend's family debts.
  • Official Couple: With Kokona if you play Matchmaker.
  • Ojou: A male example. According to his profile as of the Matchmaking Update, he comes from a wealthy family. He tries to keep it a secret, but his unusual way of talking gives him away.
  • Quintessential British Gentleman: This is what his "unusual" speech pattern sounds like.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: He goes nuclear if you kill Kokona Haruka in front of him while they are dating.
  • Satellite Love Interest: In a meta sense; practically everything interesting and distinguishing about his character was added specifically so that he could serve as Kokona's suitor for Ayano to set up with her.
  • Secretly Wealthy: He comes from a rich family but prefers people not to know it. His affected speech pattern is a dead giveaway though.
  • Stalker with a Crush: He used to spy on Kokona with lovey-dovey eyes while she was making octo-dogs in the Cooking Club. Even if he was already dating her, he would still hang outside and stare at her.

    The Delinquents
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yansim_delinquents.png
From left to right: Umeji Kizuguchi, Dairoku Surikizu, Gaku Hikitsuri, Hokuto Furukizu, and Hayanari Tsumeato.
A group of five delinquents, who spend their time hanging out near the incinerator. They all have the Violent personality, which means that holding a weapon in front of them or having committed murder will cause them to fight Yandere-chan.

Tropes that apply to all delinquents

  • Animal Motif: Downplayed, Genka Kunahito compares them to ducks during her report because they started imitating and following Osoro "like baby ducks following their mother" and their blond hair invokes the image of duckling.
  • Archenemy: The Bullies. The Delinquents hate them for bullying them to near suicide and breaking one of Gaku's arms. If they see a dead Bully, they will react like a Spiteful student, a.k.a. they will be delighted to see her dead.
  • Break the Cutie: What they went through at the hands of bullies, before they became the delinquents they are now. In the "Delinquent Backstory" video, The Guidance Counselor mentions that they were considered the meekest students of Akademi. In the same video, Gaku appears with his arm in a cast, suggesting he was a victim of a physical assault at the hands of the Bullies.
  • Bullying a Dragon: If they see Ayano kill a Bully, they won't turn her in because they hate the Bullies. However, even after seeing her commit murder, they will still act like jerks around her, calling her a loser and cracking jokes about breaking her cello if she has the case. Not exactly a smart move.
  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: The delinquents each have a color theme—Dairoku is blue, Gaku is red/brown, Umeji is yellow, Hokuto is purple, and Hayanari is black.
  • Defeat Equals Friendship: To join the Delinquents, Ayano has to pick a fight with each of them and win. Downplayed as you still have to do a favor for each one afterward before being let into their circle.
  • Delinquent Hair: They have all bleached their hair blond.
  • Determinator: If they see you commit murder, they won't stop attacking you until you stop moving or they stop breathing.
  • The Dreaded: Feared by all the students at Akademi.
  • Driven to Suicide: They were all targets of severe bullying, to the point where they were seriously considering a Suicide Pact. If it wasn't for Osoro, they wouldn't be alive anymore.
  • Everyone Has Standards: The delinquents will not fight to the death if challenged and will disengage once either side is too beaten up to continue. However, if they witness the murder of their fellow students, or spot Yan-chan carrying a corpse, they will attack without mercy until either you go down or they are dead. And despite being delinquents, they will contact the police to get Yan-chan arrested for murder once they've knocked her out.
  • Expository Hairstyle Change: More like "Expository Hair Color Change". Previously, they had pink, orange, purple, red, and light blue hair, but when they became delinquents, they all bleached their hair blond to look more like Osoro, their leader. They also have noticeably more messy haircuts.
  • Foil: To the Bullies. The Bullies are jerks just like the Delinquents. However, the Bullies are all female, while the Delinquents are all male except for Osoro. The Bullies actively harass other students, while the Delinquents keep to themselves and don't cause trouble unless they feel threatened. The Delinquents are fighters, while the Bullies are not. The Bullies are just bitches to people because they feel like it, while the Delinquents are the way they are because of how they suffered. The Delinquents are feared, while the Bullies are thought of as good people. Osoro, the leader of the Delinquents, is a Jerk with a Heart of Gold, while Musume, leader of the Bullies, is a Hate Sink.
  • Freudian Excuse: The way they disrespect school staff is somewhat understandable, considering that the Guidance Counselor did nothing to help them when they were being bullied.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: They used to be defenseless boys who were victims of bullying, but at present, they are completely the opposite. The other kids fear them and nobody dares to bully them anymore.
  • Gameplay and Story Integration: If you kill a Bully in front of them, they'll act like a Spiteful student. It's explained in the backstory that the Delinquents were once bully targets themselves, so it makes sense that they'd have that reaction.
"Heh, good riddance... they deserved it!"
  • Harder Than Hard: Joining the delinquents will give Ayano a low reputation that cannot return to neutral or high levels, potentially locking her out of other opportunities, making other individuals warier of her actions, and potentially causing a Game Over. However, she gets the ability to intimidate other students into doing tasks for her, meaning countless opportunities that can normally only be unlocked by befriending each student individually are instantly available.
  • Hated by All: The rest of the students either fear or hate them, or both. They all have -100 in "Liked" and "Respected" but a perfect 100 in "Feared".
  • Hero-Worshipper: They respect Osoro because she was able to single-handedly, bare-fisted defeat at least ten bullies. Her victory over her tormentors is what inspired them to become delinquents in the first place.
  • Honor Among Thieves: They care for each other, along with other outcasts and misfits, and will even befriend Ayano if she proves herself.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: Their tasks indicate that they see Ayano as a 'good girl' who wouldn't have the guts to break the rules, even if they've seen her running around covered in blood, carrying weapons, visibly insane, laughing like a maniac. They still think this even if they've seen her murder a bully.
  • Idiot Ball: See Bullying a Dragon and Horrible Judge of Character above. There's also the fact that, while they won't bust you for murdering a bully since they think she deserved it, they fail to make the connection between that murder and any others that might have already occurred or may happen to occur on campus, failing to realize that you are responsible for those murders too.
  • If You're So Evil, Eat This Kitten!: Most of their tasks involve proving that you are willing to break the rules, like stealing the answers to a test and getting a hold of alcohol, cigarettes, and weapons.
  • Implacable Man: If you're badly beaten in a fight, they'll back off and walk away with a taunt. But if they know that you killed someone, they'll attempt to smack you into unconsciousness, and unless you put them down by killing them after the fight, they won't stop coming until you are well and truly KO'd.
  • A Lighter Shade of Black: Sure, they're delinquents, but they're nowhere near as bad as Ayano (if you play her as a villain), Info-chan, the bullies, or quite possibly the Saikou family. They do not commit, aid in, or approve of murder (and will, in fact, mess you up if they see that you are guilty of it), they look out for each other and will befriend you if you prove yourself, and they are mostly willing to keep to themselves if you don't mess with them.
  • Never Be Hurt Again: They were once ordinary students who were bullied at Akademi, and became delinquents so everyone would fear them instead. They consider being feared and hated much better than being mocked and bullied.
  • Nonconformist Dyed Hair: When they became delinquents, they dyed their hair blond. Ironically, their natural hair colours were even more unusual.
  • Not Distracted by the Sexy: Seduction doesn't work on any of them.
  • The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: Despite being delinquents, they are not shown causing trouble on campus. They seem perfectly willing to keep to themselves and, while they do insult and threaten Ayano if she goes into their territory, they won't actually attack her unless she pulls a weapon on them, tries to attack them, kills someone in front of them, or is seen holding a corpse or body part. In one video, YandereDev confirms that they keep to themselves and don't cause trouble unless they feel threatened. The Bullies are honestly bigger delinquents than they are.
  • Pet the Dog: According to YandereDev on Reddit, if a bullied student, who is thinking about killing themself, asks the Delinquents to join them for protection, they will do their best to try to help said student in some way without losing their 'tough guy' image.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: They say the name of this trope verbatim when reacting to the sight of a corpse.
  • Shrinking Violet: They used to be shy boys who were constantly bullied and unable to defend themselves. That changed when they met Osoro, who single-handedly defeated at least 10 bullies and started to respect and imitate her.
  • Sour Outside, Sad Inside: They act like thugs, but deep down inside, they're still hurting from the bullying they used to go through.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: They started acting like jerks to make sure no one picks on them ever again.
  • Toxic Friend Influence: Osoro taught them to be rude to fellow students, disrespect staff, and show up late to class.
  • True Companions: They were friends long before they became delinquents. After they started being bullied, they opted to commit suicide together. When they found a friend in Osoro Shidesu, they formed a gang with her. Throughout everything, they have stayed together.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: They used to be a lot nicer and shyer before they became delinquents.
  • Villainy-Free Villain: They are rude to the staff and their fellow students, cut class, and carry around weapons, but they don't go around picking on people or otherwise causing trouble. They only fight when they feel threatened, and they will stop when their opponent is too injured to continue fighting. For delinquents, they are pretty tame.
  • Who's Laughing Now?: The bullies used to pick on them, but now fear them and will downright refuse even to talk to them.
  • With Friends Like These...: Even after you befriend them and join their group, they will still respond rudely to any attempts to complement them, note  apologize to them, ask them to distract someone, or ask them to leave the area.
  • Would Hit a Girl: None of them have any problem attacking Ayano if they feel threatened or see her kill someone or trying to dispose of a corpse. They will also shove her away if she walks into them.

Umeji Kizuguchi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/umejiborders.png
Osoro's right-hand man who takes charge of the delinquents during her suspension. He has a scar over his right eye and an orange color scheme.
  • Batter Up!: His weapon of choice is a baseball bat.
  • Number Two: He is this to Osoro. He is her replacement "club" leader while she's absent prior to her rival week.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: Well, his hair used to be pink before dying it blonde. His interests also state that he likes cats, cooking, and gardening.
  • Snipe Hunt: Asks you to bring him $100 for his task because he thinks you can't or won't do it.
  • Sweet Tooth: According to Mulberry, Umeji is fond of sweet foods. If this is not enough evidence, this picture shows him offering some to Osoro and this one shows him right before becoming a delinquent.
