Main Characters

Zhou Zishu (周子舒) — Zhou Xu (周絮)

Voiced by: Xia Lei (夏磊)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1_180.png

“If I can recover from one wound, can I recover from the other? Since I can’t, I’d say that seizing the day to eat and drink, and enjoy life’s pleasures would be time rather better spent.”

The current Master of Siji Manor, previously the founder of Tian Chuang and its former Master.

  • Adaptation Expansion: In the audio drama, Zhou Zishu's voice gets noticeably softer as the story goes on, morose in his inner thoughts.
  • Adaptational Attractiveness: Under his disguise as stated in the Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette point, he's far from looking typically pretty. The official artwork however never addresses this and draws Zhou Zishu as fairly healthy looking with no hint of sickness.
  • Affluent Ascetic: Zhou Zishu still retains his wealth, he simply doesn't want to live that life anymore.
  • All There in the Manual: Some of Zhou Zishu's backstory can be discovered in the prequel novel Qi Ye, giving more insight on some flashbacks and mentioned names.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Zhou Zishu confesses to Wen Kexing that no one has been this sincere to him in so long.
  • Beautiful All Along: When Zhou Zishu finally removed his disguise and showed his true face, Wen Kexing was so taken back that he had to reaffirm his sexuality:
Wen Kexing: Did I... Did I mention to you I like men?
  • Brought Down to Badass: The nails effect on Zhou Zishu caused him to lose two thirds of his martial arts, he still remains to be considerably powerful though, being able to fight off multiple people at once.
  • Can't Live with Them, Can't Live Without Them: Zhou Zishu is always complaining about Wen Kexing's clinginess, yet when he left for a while, Zhou Zishu seemed rather upset and a little disappointed.
  • Character Tic: Zhou Zishu has the tendency to cast his eyes down, whether when he's thinking or during a conversation with someone.
  • Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette: Intensified with the nails, Zhou Zishu is described to looking extremely pale, bloodless lips, prominent brow bones framing sunken eye-sockets and face devoid of any colour.
  • Everybody's Dead, Dave: With all the people from Qi Ye either gone or dead, and with Liang Jiuxiao gone, he was left the last living member of the Siji Manor.
  • Hidden Heart of Gold: Zhou Zishu just can't bring himself to be hurtful towards Zhang Chengling for too long, nor can he ignore Wen Kexing when he's being sincere.
  • Hyper-Awareness: Being the Master of Tian Chuang, Zhou Zishu has excellent observation skills, noticing small details and making often correct assumptions from that. This also comes in handy whenever he would bother with the jinghau's politics and conspiracies.
  • Ice King: Aside from his cold demeanour and heartless aura, he is described to be cold physically as well. Of course, Defrosting Ice King happens as the story progresses.
  • If It's You, It's Okay: Comically inverted. Zhou Zishu doesn't have any issue with being attracted to men, he has an issue it being Wen Kexing.
  • I Regret Nothing: Zhou Zishu doesn't seem to have any remorse over his actins. If anything, any reference to the events of Qi Ye other than reoccuring nightmares, Zhou Zishu is shown to be lamenting over his current state of depression and the loss of Liang Jiuxiao rather than the morality of his actions.
  • No Badass to His Valet: While everyone fears the Master of the Ghost Valley, even Gu Xiang herself, Zhou Zishu couldn't care less about that fact, and in fact, doesn't treat him any different than before.
  • Not What It Looks Like: Zhou Zishu has a hard time convincing people that there is nothing between him and Wen Kexing, mainly due to Wen Kexing acting in front of everyone as if there is.
  • Manly Bi: Accompanied with Men Don't Cry often directed at Zhang Chengling, jabs at Wen Kexing's feminine-like traits and casual time period sexism, Zhou Zishu poses as a very masculine man.
  • Master of Disguise: Zhou Zishu. For a decent portion of the novel, he wears a fake face to hide his true identity that conceals his facial structure, he managed to escape Tian Chuang through this way.
  • Master of the Mixed Message: While not as much as Wen Kexing, his own thoughts often conflict with his actions, and whether he likes Wen Kexing back is ambiguous in earlier chapters for a first time read. Zhou Zishu being a tsundere also contributes to this.
  • Meaningful Rename: Not exactly a rename. The character Xu [絮] in his disguise name is the one for willow catkins, it can be taken as a symbol of freedom, as they are weightless and fly away easily.
    • It's importance is signified when Wen Kexing keeps using the nickname A-Xu for him.
  • Multilayer Façade: Zhou Zishu at some point wore two masks on top of each other.
  • Physical Scars, Psychological Scars: The scars caused by the seven nails reflect on how Zhou Zishu prefers this path of pain instead of remaining with Tian Chuang, as this caused him to be severely depressed.
  • Riches to Rags: Subverted. Zhou Zishu consciously stepped down from Tian Chuang and left the palace altogether, all so he could live freely his last remaining days as a miserable looking beggar, despite him feeling joyous.
  • Stronger Than They Look: Zhou Zishu catches opponents off with his remaining strength, such as lifting up a man while Zhou Zishu is all skinny and shrivelled up.
  • Sue Donym: He never thought of an undercover name as Zhou Zishu technically doesn't exist within the court's records, so he gives his own name... with a bit of alteration.
  • The Greatest Story Never Told: Zhou Zishu single-handedly is the reason why everyone is living in a golden era, having set up a scheme to eliminate the catastrophic choices for the throne and holding ground to defend the Capital. Yet, nobody knows and therefore, nobody knows who they are talking to, as now he just appears as a simple man.
  • Tough Love: At first, Zhang Chengling thinks he hates him due to that, but Wen Kexing assures him that this is simply the way he displays love.
  • Tsundere: A stoic one, but one regardless, to the point that it makes him an Unreliable Narrator for his own romance.
  • Unreliable Narrator: The novel is primarily told from Zhou Zishu's perspective, both his lack of care for wordly matters and constant misreading of Wen Kexing's actions makes the reader double check some chapters.
  • Walking the Earth: This is how Zhou Zishu wanted to spend his remaining days, simply wandering around jinghau.
  • Would Hurt a Child: It's mentioned that Zhou Zishu is accustomed to this in regards to killing Jiang Xue, a four year old.
  • Your Days Are Numbered: He has seven nails implanted into his body, and has three years to live as they slowly deteriorate his physical and mental health.

     Wen Kexing (溫客行)

Voiced by: Xie Tiantian (谢添天)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1_695.png

“In this world, there is only one thing that can destroy evil spirits… and it’s the human heart.”

The Master of the Ghost Valley, and the son of the Sage Doctor Wen Ruyu and the Genius Physician Gu Miaomiao.

  • Adaptation Inspiration: Extremely minor. In the novel, Wen Kexing didn't have a fan as a defining trait, however, due to the live-action giving Wen Kexing a Combat Hand Fan, multiple official artworks followed this.
    • In the physical Thai version merch, the symbol of Wen Kexing was the fan.
  • All Gays are Promiscuous: Subverted. Due to his Really Gets Around, Zhou Zishu assumes this of him, and that he is only chasing Zhou Zishu for sex.
  • Ambiguous Situation: In the novel, it's never stated outright what exactly' happened in the Ghost Valley nor what happened with the former Ghost Valley Master, all what's known that it was very bad''.
  • Anti-Hero: Wen Kexing simply doesn't do much to the business of jinghau, to the people involved in his suffering however...
  • Barbarian Longhair: In comparison to Zhou Zishu's tied up ponytail, in the official artworks, Wen Kexing's hair is often untied and wild with long bangs that drape over his face.
  • Blood Is the New Black: As Wen Kexing exited the quarters of the former Ghost Valley Master, he was drenched in so much blood that others questioned whether it was the robes colours or not.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: Played for laughs. Wen Kexing gets immediately jealous if Zhou Zishu as much as looks at someone else or vice versa.
  • Crocodile Tears: This is how Wen Kexing resolved the "conflict" in the first extra.
  • Cry Laughing: Whenever Wen Kexing's mask slips, this often happens.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Wen Kexing has a very brutal fighting style, and the only occasion where he seems to know more formal martial arts were a weak replica of his fathers, Wen Ruyu.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: His upbringing in the Ghost Valley alone fits this trope, let alone on how and why he got in there in the first place.
  • Delighting in Riddles: This is his means of speaking about Ghost Valley matters with Gu Xiang in front of others. It's also how he keeps playing around with Zhou Zishu.
  • Disaster Dominoes: Since his arrival in the Ghost Valley, Wen Kexing has done nothing but plot his revenge, mastering a chain of events that brought up the conflict and culminate into people over the Lapis Armour unknown that it has been lost many years ago and it was all in vain.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: Wen Kexing climbed the ranks in the Ghost Valley until he became it's master and becoming The Dreaded. Even Gu Xiang keeps her distance.
  • Has a Type: Wen Kexing prefers his men to be perfumed, smooth skinned and soft. Zhou Zishu is anything but that though, and Wen Kexing finds himself in love with the sickly looking, eyebags and all, tall and narrow waisted A-Xu.
  • Heroes Fight Barehanded: Wen Kexing's weapon of choice is his hands, and it's not because he fears killing people, quite the opposite.
  • Hidden Depths: At a first glance, Wen Kexing seems to be a pestering man who is after Zhou Zishu for his beauty. He is far more complex and emotionally charged than what meets the eye.
  • In Touch with His Feminine Side: Not as much as to become a stereotype, but enough for Zhou Zishu to question his masculinity multiple times.
  • Kling On Promotion: In order to ascend as the Ghost Valley Master, he uprose and killed the former Ghost Valley Master himself and declared himself as the new authority.
  • Let Me Tell You a Story: Wen Kexing is known to tell stories and babble, much to Zhou Zishu's dismay, as the novel reaches its end, those stories get a whole lot darker in retrospect.
  • Lodged-Blade Recycling: With his battle against Mo Huaiyang, he delivers the final blow by stabbing him with the broken sword that Zhao Jing stabbed Wen Kexing with.
  • Love Martyr: Wen Kexing truly loves Zhou Zishu to the point of obsession, and his façade cracks whenever he's faced with the ordeal of Zhou Zishu's impending death. Thankfully, the feeling is mutual.
  • Millionaire Playboy: It's heavily implied that Wen Kexing has a lot of money, well enough to indulge himself often with male courtesans who are classy and expensive.
  • Neck Snap: Wen Kexing's favourite method of execution.
  • Normally, I Would Be Dead Now: Wen Kexing drags his half immobile body in order to avenge Gu Xiang.
  • No Sense of Personal Space: Sometimes borderlines on harassment with Zhou Zishu, it's good to keep in mind that Zhou Zishu can fend off for himself.
  • Master of the Mixed Message: Partly due to the novel being written mostly in Zhou Zishu's unreliable POV. Wen Kexing with his unreadable face in the first chapters, never states outright his feelings in a manner that's clear, he sometimes plays it as a joke or acts as if he's only in it for the sex. Even if it's debunked, this gives both the readers and Zhou Zishu grief.
  • Peaceful in Death: Wen Kexing embraced death this way when he was about to be killed by the Scorpians, finding no reasons to live after his plans succeeded and Gu Xiang dead.
  • Really Gets Around: Even without Wen Kexing stating that fact himself, Gu Xiang blurts it out a couple of times. Gu Xiang even thinks that Wen Kexing's sad state was because of a hookup.
Gu Xiang:: What are you staring at me for? He went to sleep with his men. Would you have me wait outside the window to listen in on their noises?
  • Sad Clown: In order to cope with his trauma, Wen Kexing often smiles it off and laughs, and tells fictionalised stories of his traumatic past, it's rare when someone catches him off-guard.
  • Slap-Slap-Kiss: This is how he and Zhou Zishu's first kiss went, Zhou Zishu provoked him into anger and Wen Kexing retaliated by kissing him.
  • Training from Hell: In a place where it's either kill or to be killed, a nine year old Wen Kexing had to endure the abuse and horrible environment of the Ghost Valley in order to survive.
  • The Tease: Wen Kexing is an extremely flirty man, shameless about his attraction to men, specifically Zhou Zishu.
  • Wise Beyond Their Years: Growing up in the Ghost Valley, Wen Kexing was forced to mature in order to survive and also protect Gu Xiang.
  • You Are Who You Eat: This is how Wen Kexing justified cannibalising on his own father's corpse so the Ghosts wouldn't kill him, stating to himself how he was made of flesh and blood and came from Wen Ruyu, so it was okay. Subverting the Familial Cannibalism Surprise.

     Zhang Chengling (張成嶺)

Voiced by: Feng Xiu (风袖)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1_266.png

“Why do you all want me dead? What did I do? Why can everybody else live, but I can’t?!”

The youngest son of Zhang Yusen and the last living member of the Nanhe Sect, currently Zhou Zishu's disciple.

  • At Least I Admit It: Zhang Chengling does not contribute any good to the Nanhe Sect, all he does is getting spoilt and pampered, and he knows that and never denies it.
  • Berserk Button: Implying that Zhou Zishu is anything but benevolent does the trick.
Gu Xiang: Nope, that’s not it. His shifu surname isn't "Zhou", but "Tang". And he’s a top-grade dirty old pervert!
Zhang Chengling: You’re lying! My shifu isn’t a dirty old pervert at all!
  • Character Development: Throughout the novel, Zhang Chengling starts going from passive to aggressive, even in his inner thoughts, and if he can't stand up for himself, then he tries to stand up for others and help them.
  • Cuddle Bug: Zhang Chengling never hesitates to leap into the arms of either Zhou Zishu or Wen Kexing when given the chance.
  • Determinator: No matter how much he is belittled or rejected by Zhou Zishu, his persistence keeps going on, so much that it makes both Wen Kexing and Zhou Zishu unsettled by the fire in his eyes.
  • Distressed Dude: Everyone seems to either want to kidnap him or kill him, Zhang Chengling's lack of martial arts certainly doesn't help with the situation, he's often easily lured into traps and ambushes, with Zhou Zishu coming to the rescue everytime.
  • Family of Choice: With the main group, especially with Zhou Zishu, whom he hugs as if he was dearer than his own father.
  • Fat and Proud: He used to be on the more chubby side and didn't mind it, although he's quickly stripped of this trope when he's on the road all homeless and barely eating anything.
  • Hero of Another Story: In a typical wuxia novel, Zhang Chengling would be the main protagonist and have all the events dedicated to him. This is not the case however, as the focus is on Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing due to it being a danmei.
  • How the Mighty Have Fallen: Within a night, Zhang Chengling goes from being in one of the most powerful sects and protected, to a homeless orphan whose being tossed constantly by greater forces.
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: Zhang Chengling was barely interested in being the hero, in fact, he didn't mind being a normal commoner. The struggle is highlighted when he says that he genuinely tried to be good at Kung Fu and his studies, but he's simply mediocre.
  • Incompletely Trained: In contrast to his two brothers, Chengling wasn't the brightest of the bunch, either in the martial arts or educational aspect, he is often looked down upon due to this.
  • Impoverished Patrician: Zhang Chengling is the son of the deceased great Zhang Yusen... and that's pretty much it.
  • Insult of Endearment: Tyke, little idiot, brat... name it all.
  • Last of His Kind: After the complete wipe out of the Nanhe sect, it is up to Zhang Chengling to save his sect from completely vanishing.
  • Orphan's Ordeal: One of the most prominent events that kickstarted the chain of events is the massacre of the Nanhe Sect, let it be Zhang Chengling's role as Zhou Zishu's disciple or his role as one of the few who may have an idea about the Lapis armour whereabouts.
  • Please, Don't Leave Me: Following the night where Zhou Zishu rescued Zhang Chengling, he instantly took Zhou Zishu as a guardian and begged him to not leave while crying.
  • Precocious Crush: A rather innocent instance. Zhang Chengling sees that Jing Beiyuan is the prettiest person he had ever seen.
  • Prone to Tears: Zhang Chengling seems to be always one hair away from crying, he doesn't stop that habit no matter how much he's scolded for it, they aren't always sad tears.
  • Spoiled Sweet: Despite being extremely spoiled, Zhang Chengling is very polite, rarely speaks back and treats everyone with respect.
  • Survivor Guilt: Not only he was the only survivor out of everyone in the Nanhe Sect, he was also the most useless one, as everyone liked to remind him. He finds himself thinking that he should have been the one to die instead.
Zhang Chengling: (thinking) If I can’t survive, then I should just die.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: Zhang Chengling is far from being dotted on by the group, however, they all protect him and love him in their own ways as the youngest of the group.
  • The Quiet One: Out of the main characters, Zhang Chengling speaks the least, as he has issues with using words and he takes most jabs without a word.
  • The So-Called Coward: Zhang Chengling is many things, including being the weakest character and therefore, many expect him to run at the first sight of danger, this is from the case as he's fuelled by his determination and survivor's guilt,
  • Third Wheel: The fifth wheel out of the group.
  • Unexpected Successor: Out of Zhang Yusen's children, Zhang Chengling was the least expected one to carry on the Nanhe Sect's legacy and uphold it.
  • You Can't Go Home Again: No matter how much he cries, there is no home anymore.
  • You Remind Me of X: Zhang Chengling reminds Zhou Zishu of his deceased shidi, Liang Jiuxiao, which is a major reason why he softens up to the boy.

     Gu Xiang (顧湘)

Voiced by: Yin Xiong - Su Wan (音熊-苏婉)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1_540.png

“Pooh, blabbermouth, how dare you speak the truth all the time! Pooh, glib tongue! How dare you point out that the sun rises in the east, even if it’s nothing we haven’t seen countless times before...”

The "servant" of Wen Kexing and the Zi sha of the Ghost Valley.

  • Action Girl: Gu Xiang is capable of good martial arts, even if they were not par with her master.
  • Ambiguous Disorder: Some of Gu Xiang's traits and quirks apply to this trope, she doesn't have a filter for her thoughts most of the time, see No Social Skills for more and she often needs Wen Kexing to explain things for her, she is self aware of those traits.
  • Bad Liar: Unlike her master, Gu Xiang can't bullshit her way out of a situation, shown when she tried to lie to Jing Beiyuan because she was unsure of his intentions, and he immediately caught onto her lies.
  • Beauty Is Bad: Despite the appearance of a young maiden with a soft voice, she is quite vicious.
  • Brutal Honesty: Gu Xiang speaks before she thinks, resulting in this most of the time.
  • Character Tic: Gu Xiang's dialogue is often accompanied with interjections such as Oh!.
  • Dead Guy Junior: The Gu in her name comes from Wen Kexing's mother, Gu Miaomiao, albeit with different characters.
  • Hot-Blooded: She's very easy to excite and anger, immediately resorting to violence when things don't go her way.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: While her delivery was harsh, she's not wrong when she told Zhang Chengling that there is nothing to do for his now dead family and that crying won't get them back.
  • Last Request: Before she dies, she tearfully asks Wen Kexing to kill Mo Huaiyang for killing both her and Cao Weining. Wen Kexing fulfils said wish shortly after.
  • Meaningful Name: According to Wen Kexing, he found her in a river, hence why he named her Xiang [湘]. The character is derived from the real Chinese river Xiangjiang [湘江].
  • Mistaken for Romance: Zhou Zishu assumes her to be Wen Kexing's concubine at first, that gets debunked rather quickly.
  • Like Father, Like Son: Like Father, Like Daughter. Gu Xiang exhibits a lot of similarities with Wen Kexing, as he had technically raised her.
  • Living Emotional Crutch: For Wen Kexing, she was the only tie to his humanity.
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: In the Ghost Valley, she's referred to as Zǐ shā (紫煞: Purple Danger).
  • Never Learned to Read: When writing Uncle Li's tomb, she misspelled the word righteous as rightus.
  • No Indoor Voice: She even chastises herself for that.
  • No Social Skills: Aside from Gu Xiang's lack of literacy, she seems to be questioning of everything around here and constantly asking Wen Kexing for guidance.
    • It is also worth noting that the way she wrote Uncle Li's tomb was rather informal, indicating that she was also lacking in terms of traditions.
  • Not So Above It All: Gu Xiang was puzzled by her master's persuasion and love for Zhou Zishu, until she also fell in love with Cao Weining.
  • Pitbull Dates Puppy: Gu Xiang, the Purple Danger, falls in love with Cao Weining, the gentle boy of Qing Feng Sect.
  • Purple Is Powerful: Her theme is all purple, her nickname and her robes.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The "Red" to Cao Weining's blue.
  • Satisfied Street Rat: Having never seen the human world, Gu Xiang is already used to the Ghost Valley's style of living and has no interest of abiding by the rules, often calling the more chivalrous sects as the so called orthodox.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: Gu Xiang has quite the foul mouth and never hesitates to use it.
  • Taking the Bullet: With Wen Kexing weak and injured, Lao Meng took his shot and threw darts of explosion at him, not wanting to lose another person, Gu Xiang throws herself at Wen Kexing and takes the hit, killing her almost instantly.
  • The Leader: Played for laughs. She's the one lead the young group of Zhang Chengling, Cao Weining and Gao Xiaolian.
  • The One Who Made It Out: She was among a bunch of other kidnapped kids in the Ghost Valley, she was the only one who managed to survive. Gu Xiang even managed to see the human world.
  • WomanChild: She falls in this trope due to her being relatively sheltered by Wen Kexing and never stepping a foot in the human world as far as she can remember. Especially that a girl at her age should be more of a "proper young maiden", making her stand out further.

     Cao Weining (曹蔚寧)

Voiced by: Lu Shujun (吕书君)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1_487.png

“As the poem goes "after a night of wind and bears, how many are the fallen tears"... Since ancient times the word ‘love’ has been the one that hurts the most. But then, what can we do?”

The junior top disciple of the Qingfeng Sword Sect.

  • Big Brother Instinct: Downplayed. He's the one to sometimes guide Zhang Chengling and protect him from the neverending assassination attempts.
  • Blue Is Heroic: Cao Weining's sect colours are blue.
  • Endearingly Dorky: Reciting poetry wrong and mixing it up and having an awkward yet puppy love for Gu Xiang makes even Zhou Zishu find Cao Weining endearing.
  • Gibberish of Love: When introducing himself to Gu Xiang for the first time, he keeps stammering and mixing up his own name and title.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Cao Weining was not a bit bothered by the possibility of Gu Xiang moving on and living with another person, as long as she's happy, he's happy.
Cao Weining: That’d be just fine, and I look forward to it. It would be best if she can’t remember a bit of what I look like anymore. Once she passes before me — bright-eyed, worry-free, and happy — and I see her move on, I’ll have no worries, myself.
Hu Jia: You don’t feel unhappy?
Cao Weining: What would I be unhappy about? That’s my wife, not my enemy. How would seeing her be okay make me unhappy?
  • Kindhearted Simpleton: What he lacks in literature and social awarness, he makes up in kindness and gentleness.
  • Love at First Sight: Gu Xiang as much as passed by him and he was instantly smitten with her, reciting poetry in love for her.
  • Nice Guy: Not once did Cao Weining treat anyone rudely even when it was justified, always being respectful and trying to mitigate things.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The Blue to Gu Xiang's "Red".
  • Scarf of Asskicking: Seen in one concept art wearing one.
  • Shipper on Deck: For Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing. Cao Weining thought they were close brothers, but when that was debunked, he assured that he didn't think it was strange anymore and proceeded to recite romantic poetry for them.
  • Simple, yet Opulent: It's described that Cao Weining's attire and xiao seem simple yet upon a closer look, they look like they are crafted from the finest material, the xiao is also obviously made out of jade to the common eye.
  • Skilled, but Naive: For a disciple his age, Cao Weining shows remarkable skill, though in worldly matters, he is not as remarkable.
  • The Heart: Cao Weining is quite gentle and most soft-spoken person in the cast, he tries his best to solve any sort of problem and help when possible.

Voiced by: Sun Ye (孙晔)

  • BFS: Ye Baiyi's sword, Changqing, is described to be big and heavy.
  • Big Eater: Ye Baiyi is noted to be a big eater, not leaving any leftovers for anyone and his chopsticks always moving.
  • Brutal Honesty: Because he spent most of his life in the mountains isolated, Ye Baiyi's social skills aren't the best, being blunt and straight-forward.
Ye Baiyi: Your meridians have almost withered completely [...] in fact, channeling more energy into you will break your dying meridians, and you can only perish.
Zhou Zishu: (sighing) Sir, why must you indirectly mock me like that? I have never wronged you before, so please don’t repeat that matter, it’s not a nice thing to talk about.
  • Meaningful Name: Báiyī (白衣) directly translates into "White Clothes", befitting for his apperance.
  • The Ageless: Ye Baiyi has well passed a hundered years, yet retains the appearance of a man in his late twenties.
  • Who Wants to Live Forever?: The main reason Ye Baiyi gets out of isolation and starts eating normal food again, despite it breaking his immortality, is because he's tired of living.
