Trivia / Tian Ya Ke

Go To

  • Acting for Two: Other than the main characters, the side character voice actors often take up the roles of background characters or other side characters.
  • And You Thought It Would Fail: Many lost faith for the Audio Drama adaption to ever get finished when it took five years for two episodes to come out. Thankfully, they were wrong, it did take another three years with it airing in 2021.
  • Banned in China: Not banned per se, but Priest had to lock down the novel on JJWXC as of of October 2021 (alongside Sha Po Lang (Novel) and Zhen Hun), due to the looming danger of laws concerning LGBT+ content. This made the original text available only through means of piracy.
  • Breakthrough Hit: For the Western fandom. Tian Ya Ke became more prominent technically because of its Live-Action Adaptation, it still garnered attention to the author and made Priest more recognisable in the Western circles.
  • Directed by Cast Member: The director of the audio drama, Ke Muqing, is also the voice for Jing Beiyuan.
    • Not only that, but he also sings both of the audio drama's opening songs (天涯客: Tiān Yá Kè/Faraway Wanderers and 天涯寻春: Tiānyá xún chūn/Seeking For The Spring)
  • Fan Translation: All available translations that are not Thai are fan-translated, they can be seen here.
  • Line to God: Fans used to reach out to Priest when she was writing her novels and answer them concerning the characters and such.
  • Long-Runner Cast Turnover: From the old cast, only Xia Lei (Zhou Zishu) and Xie Tiantian (Wen Kexing) were brought back for the 2021 release.
    • Because of that, their lines for the episodes they previously recorded were redone.
  • Missing Episode: Missing chapter. Extra five: Wandering Jinghau, is an extra that shows the characters five years later; is only available in the traditional Chinese edition.
  • No Export for You: Inverted, ironically. Tian Ya Ke doesn't have a Chinese physical release, only a Taiwanese-release that's in traditional Chinese.
  • Older Than They Think: The audio drama has existed as far as 2013, with the first episode being released that year and the second in 2018. It was only when they received the budget for it did they officiate the audio drama.
  • Promoted Fanboy: Some of the Audio Drama's artworks were illustrated by fans of Tian Ya Ke, and had drawn previous fanart before like He Xianghuan and He Shanyu.
  • Repurposed Pop Song: For the old audio drama, they used pre-existing songs and covered them (转弯: Zhuǎnwān/Turn, originally sang by Wu Qilong - covered by W.K and 盛开在南方的殇之花: Shèngkāi zài nánfāng de shāng zhī huā/The Flower of Sorrow Blooming in the South covered by Jiang Sheng)
  • Role Reprise: Considering it had been five years for the old audio drama and then three years for the new one, making up a total of eight years, it's a surprise that Xia Lei and Xie Tiantian still played their respective characters.
