     Kanna Kanichi, SHSL Perfection

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kanna_01.png
Kanna Kanichi; Super High School Level Perfection

Ultimate Perfection, although not many people believe him. Despite that, he really does seem flawless at everything. He's surprisingly humble.

  • Badass Cape: Golden and black, matching his outfit. Kanna is never seen without some sort of cape. Even in his beachwear, he wears a transparent cape.
  • Cape Swish: Often does this for dramatic effect.
  • The Dandy: Easily the most fussy about his appearance and looks. Certainly moreso than Shigeru.
  • Declarative Finger: Most of Kanna's art depicts him as pointing in some capacity. Usually in this way.
  • Guyliner: As previously mentioned, he wears eyeliner with quite on-point wings.
  • Jack of All Trades: His talent lends itself to this and he uses his knowledge to help others with their own talents. See Master of All.
  • The Leader: He's usually the first to volunteer to do something and his natural charisma and talent lend themselves to people looking to him for advice.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: His hair reaches midback while in a high ponytail.
  • Master of All: His talent is 'perfection'. He has stated that he will study something until he has mastered it. And he has mastered a lot.
  • Nice Guy: Though most people expect him to have a large ego, Kanna is quite humble. He views his talent as a way to help other people rather than flaunt his own abilities.
  • The Paragon:
  • The Perfectionist: Evidenced by his talent, though it extends further than this. Kanna is very meticulous in everything he does. In fact, he was the last person to finish exploring the first floor, noting how he'd just reached the Dining Hall by the time the first motive was revealed.
  • Wardrobe Wound: Very much so. He despises getting his clothes dirty and he hates wrinkles. It goes as far as him purposefully wearing tight clothing to prevent excessive wrinkling. He will get quite depressed if his clothing is torn in any way.

     Haru Tanioto, SHSL Cellist

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/haru_80.png
Haru Tanioto; Super High School Level Cellist

A generally helpful individual, but there is a darkness that plagues him. His ability to read emotions is unparalleled. He's also the protagonist of this crazy story.

  • Amateur Sleuth: As the protagonist, he is the audience's view of the investigations and he heads the trials. However, he believes that he is merely the one who pieces together other people's deductions.
  • Catchphrase:
    • "No, that's wrong!" and "I agree with that!" Staples for Danganronpa protagonists. The former being when he finds a contradiction in a debate and the latter when he's backing up someone's point.
    • "That's it!" and "It's all coming together!" are his go-to's when completing a 'minigame', the former being Hangman's Gambit: Ver.Sub and the latter being Logic Dive.
    • Finally, "I will cut through those words!" and "It's time to finish this!" with the higher stakes minigames, being Rebuttal Showdown and Panic Talk Action respectively.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Orange hair, orange eyes.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Due to his reserved and pessimistic nature, sometimes his responses to other people come off this way.
  • The Empath: Haru is astonishingly good at reading emotions, detecting feelings buried in someone's heart. Because of this, ironically though, he's been numbed. Though he tries his hardest, sometimes he finds it difficult to empathize completely.
  • Perpetual Poverty: Living with just his father, he barely gets by even after being accepted into Hope's Peak which is guaranteed success. His cello is proof of it, being a battered, cheap instrument.
  • The Reliable One: Thanks to him taking charge in trials and his emotion-reading ability, people often come to Haru for support, something he's not super keen about.
  • Songs of Solace: It's heavily implied that playing is something that lets out his negative emotions.
  • The Summation: At the end of trials during the Closing Argument section. He goes through the case step-by-step, justified in-story as either a way to explain something convoluted or to prove to the Blackened that there is no way anyone else could have committed the crime.

     Shigeru Fujioka, SHSL Cosmetologist

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shigeru.png
Shigeru Fujioka; Super High School Level Cosmetologist

A very flamboyant boy. He strives to see the beauty in everyone, even if he has to force it out. He enjoys teasing people with makeup.

  • Cute Little Fangs: His left canine tooth protrudes and is always seen, even with his mouth closed. Whether it makes him cute, though, is subjective.
  • Guyliner: His winged eyeliner (and makeup in general) is expected due to his talent.
  • Nice Guy: Between having good relationships with nearly everyone and actively seeking people who are hurting emotionally, Shigeru is definitely the sympathetic person in the group.
  • Pink Means Feminine: Pink shirt? Check. Pink highlight? Check. Femininity? Check. He hits all of the boxes.
  • Pretty Boy: Again, natural for the cosmetologist.
  • Proud Beauty: Though he's not boastful about it, Shigeru takes pride in his upkeeping of himself.
  • Verbal Tic: Shigeru has a habit of repeating words in succession and ending a lot of his sentences with 'No?'
"My, my, best to face your fear then, no?"

     Rikuto Honda, SHSL Welder

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rikuto.png
Rikuto Honda; Super High School Level Welder

Quite mysterious, but he just doesn't think personal details are necessary. You could easily call him the strong, silent type. He's always wearing his welding mask, no exceptions.

  • The Big Guy: The tallest of the group at 6'3".
  • Cool Mask: Is always wearing his welding mask. He even wears it to bed. How he sees is a mystery.
  • Full-Name Basis: For guys at least. He will refer to them as (Given Name) (Family Name) Sir. Ex. Haru Tanioto Sir. For girls, he omits the given name and adds 'Ma'am'.
  • The Quiet One: Doesn't talk much. He usually only speaks when directly asked a question and gives short responses. When he decides to talk, though, he often has very important things to say.
  • School Is for Losers: Never attended class except on very special occasions, instead shutting himself in his room practicing his craft.
  • Spiky Hair: His short black hair is slicked up into spikes, not dissimilar to a flame.
  • The Stoic: As previously mentioned, he doesn't talk much. He describes himself as 'the strong, silent type'.

     Nori Sasaki, SHSL Politician

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nori_3.png
Nori Sasaki; Super High School Level Politician

He's quite immature, but he prides himself on being a politician who cares about the people he wants to represent. No one's really sure why he keeps his hair so feminine, but no one's really asked either.

  • Audience Surrogate: Out of everyone, Nori has the most realistic reactions to being kidnapped and thrust into a game of murder. Horror and despair.
  • Girlish Pigtails: His hair is quite long, though it is kept up in pigtails. He does this on purpose, though his reasoning is unclear.
  • Lovable Coward: Both in the story and meta. Nori is paranoid due to the situation and that's recognized. Kouki, in particular, has a soft spot for him due to this.
  • Nervous Wreck: He often spirals into ramblings of paranoia, needing to be snapped out of it by someone.
  • The Nicknamer: Nori's odd way of nicknaming people comes from taking the last syllable of the family name and the first syllable of the given name. Ex. Sasaki Nori > Kino.
  • Sharp-Dressed Man: Fitting of a politician, he's in a full suit. However, under it is just a short-sleeved t-shirt and his sleeves are rolled up. Not to mention, his pants are a little too big.
  • Signature Headgear: His moon hairpins.
  • Tiny Schoolboy: The shortest male character in the group at 5'4".

     Amari Hoshino, SHSL Bodyguard

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/amari_6.png
Amari Hoshino; Super High School Level Bodyguard

Purposeful. She has a sense of duty, but that doesn't stop her from being sociable. Amari will help anyone to the best of her abilities so long as she thinks they have a good reason.

  • Badass Arm-Fold: A default stance for her.
  • Gentle Giant: With her tall stature and muscular build, Amari can look scary at first, frightening Haru when they first met. In actuality, she's quite kind-hearted and easily willing to make friends.
  • Good Old Fisticuffs: Though she is proficient in many, many weapons, Amari is most often seen in hand-to-hand combat.
  • Muscles Are Meaningful: She has a strict training regimen and maintains her build to best serve her clients.
  • Not Afraid to Die: As a bodyguard, her outlook on the game is quite simple. If she is to go out, it is to protect someone else.

     Kouki Maekawa, SHSL Abstract Artist

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kouki.png
Kouki Maekawa; Super High School Level Abstract Artist

Bubbly and positive, but often a bit rash and ditzy. Kouki gets really fired up about things she believes are right and is very stubborn, forming strong opinions.

  • Curtains Match the Window: Though they are slightly different shades, her hair and eyes are both brown.
  • Deuteragonist: To Haru. They go through investigations together and she often backs him up in trials.
  • Expressive Hair: Specifically her ahoge. Normally at a normal arc, when she is sad, it becomes wobbly and when she's angry, it will spike. This is not expressed in the writing, however, but is in the art.
  • Idiot Hair: Common for Danganronpa, Kouki has an ahoge. What's not common is that this is typically the mark of the protagonist, which Kouki is not.
  • Sailor Fuku: Her school uniform is the outfit she's stuck with.
  • School Uniforms are the New Black: ...Sorta. She doesn't exactly have a choice in clothing.
  • Technician vs. Performer: The Performer to Yukari's Technician. While her approach is mainly bold accusation and expressing dislike, Yukari will counter with trickery and underhanded comments if countering at all.

     Yamato Yukimura, SHSL Ringmaster

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yamato_15.png
Yamato Yukimura; Super High School Level Ringmaster

While he puts on a presentation of a welcoming ringmaster, he's really kind of a jerk underneath it all. He tries his best, but his own overwhelming negativity and snappy attitude usually win out. But he's still always smiling, no matter how forced.

  • Bad Liar: He puts on an act of positivity! Except everyone sees through it with the possible exception of Mei.
  • The Cynic: Guess who's not willing to trust anyone? Yep, it's Yamato. At one point, he goes to explore a room himself because he doesn't trust the people who did actually explore it. He complains about this to Amari no less, who was part of that exploration group.
"Ugh, this is miserable! Anyway, I brought you here because I heard that you, Kanna, and Shigeru investigated here. I figured I'd get your input because, honestly, I don't trust a perfectionist and an airhead to investigate much of anything."
  • It's All About Me: Easily the most narcissistic in the group. Yamato's ego is his most apparent trait.
  • Jerkass: He is not subtle at all when insulting people, especially so to Nori. His introduction had him actively mocking Haru for being boring by pretending to not remember who he is despite being in the same class as him.
  • Large Ham: Everything he does is over the top and exaggerated. Fitting for a circus man.
  • Stepford Smiler: He's incredibly pessimistic and it shows. It's not farfetched to say that Yamato has something big troubling him.

     Shohei Takanichi, SHSL Barista

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shohei.png
Shohei Takanichi; Super High School Level Barista

Always jittery, one can assume he's always over-caffeinated. Despite that, he seems nice enough and is the master at making really terrible jokes. Is paranoid beyond belief.

  • Fainting: Whenever he sees a corpse, he's guaranteed to go down.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: Easily the most foul-mouthed of the cast. Marise comes close, but Shohei drops curses everywhere at everyone.
  • Smarter Than You Look: The paranoid, jittery barista doesn't seem like he has much going for him and even says that he can't contribute much, but he's actually one of the smartest people in the whole group.
  • Speech Impediment: Thanks to his constant caffeine overdose, Shohei has a stutter. If he drops it... You're probably in trouble.
  • Spell My Name With An S: Due to the awkwardness of romaji, Shohei can also be written as Syohei.
  • The Paranoiac: Always watch your back... always watch your back... always...
  • Pungeon Master: He drops a latte puns, usually relating to coffee. Whether it's a dark roast or a form of espresso, he's the master of bad joke. Brewtiful, isn't it?

     Yudai Shimizu, SHSL Mask Maker

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yudai.png
Yudai Shimizu; Super High School Level Mask Maker

One of the more mysterious people as he never talks about himself. He likes to compare things to water and his metaphors and analogies leave many people confused.

  • Aloof Ally: He is not fond of expressing himself. He carries with him a neutral expression at all times.
  • Cryptic Conversation: Between his borderline archaic speech, odd sentence structure, and water metaphors, his dialogue is often convoluted. It gets even worse if he's talking to Yukari.
  • Expressive Hair: His "horns" often match his emotions. That is if he's showing any. The slight curve straightens out when angry or becomes wavy when sad.
  • Good Old Ways: Yudai is very fond of traditional Japanese customs down to his attire and his oni mask that he always carries.
  • High-Class Gloves: While not necessarily a sign of status, Yudai's gloves are quite elaborate and important. Even though his sleeves often cover them, they are branded with the crest of his former high school, Neptune's Trident School, and he is never seen without them.
  • Improbable Hairstyle: See above for his gravity-defying horns.
  • Kimono Is Traditional: Keeping in line with his love of Japanese traditions.
  • Mysterious Past: Even between his classmates, the only thing known about him is that he transferred into the first-year class partway through the semester.
  • Spell My Name With An S: Proper Japanese spelling would have his name written as Yuudai.

     Ami Yumekuu, SHSL Hypnotist

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ami_55.png
Ami Yumekuu; Super High School Level Hypnotist

Pretty soft-spoken and shows disdain her talent. She despises the stigma that comes along with it. All she really wants to do is lead a relatively normal life. She is incredibly intelligent but doesn't have the self-confidence to back it up.

  • Beware the Nice Ones: While usually amicable and easy to get along with, if you piss her off, she'll snap hard at you. And lest we forget that she's a hypnotist.
  • Catchphrase: "It's alright."
  • Eyes Out of Sight: Her thick bangs completely cover the top half of her face. This is even lampshaded by Marise.
"Are you looking at me, Miss Emo? It's hard to tell under all that hair. How do you even see anyway?"
  • Hypno Pendulum: Her pocket watch. Except she's never actually been seen using it for a hypnotism.
  • Instant Expert: Ami is very quick to figure things out. So quick, in fact, it astonishes even Yukari. Her lack of self-confidence offsets this, however, and she is shy to share her deductions and skill.
  • Messy Hair: Her ponytail is ridiculously ratted and tangled. She never brushes it, so it's a mess of frizzy, fluffy hair.
  • Nice Girl: Despite her talent and perhaps slightly intimidating appearance, Ami is actually one of the nicest people in the shelter.
  • Tomboyish Ponytail: She keeps it in a ponytail to prevent it from flaring out everywhere and maintain at least some level of order, but this also means it's often hidden behind her back, poking out in spots.

     Marise Kita, SHSL Mystery Novelist

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/marise.png
Marise Kita; Super High School Level Mystery Novelist

A lazy brat who appears a lot younger than she actually is. She seems to have a distaste for pretty much everything. Fond of the word 'loser', she constantly belittles people and isn't afraid to express her opinion. Regularly swears.

  • Bookworm: As an author, she understands that a good way to further her own writing is by reading. She's quite picky, though.
  • Bratty Half-Pint: She stands at a tiny 4'6" but she's not afraid to dish out the insults and sass.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: She's smart and, as a mystery novelist, understands how to handle the situation. However, she hates working. She slacks during explorations and even set up the investigations so that she didn't have to do any actual work. Even further, she sticks to accusing the person she thinks is the most suspicious (Mei) even if there is no evidence against her.
  • Fiery Redhead: Ginger as they come.
  • Genre Savvy: Thanks to her talent, she's perfectly equipped for a killing game.
  • Girlish Pigtails: Although she doesn't really fit either girly-girl or tomboy, she often plays the 'helpless little girl' card.
  • Hates Being Touched: Do. Not. Touch. Marise.
  • Little Miss Snarker: Again, 4'6". She often makes offhanded comments about people's stupidity or the situation around her.
  • Older Than She Looks: Often mistaken for being in primary school, she is, in fact, of high school age.
  • Only in It for the Money: She hates writing mystery novels. But since they sell better than her other works, it's what she sticks to.
  • Sweet Tooth: She loves sweets, especially Japanese sweets. Her favorite food is konpeito.
  • Professional Slacker: The only reason she investigates is so that she doesn't have to rely on other people.
  • The Bully: Especially to Mei. She's harsh, demanding, and quick to judge. She doesn't seem to have a filter, either.
  • Tsundere: Well, she's more just the "tsun" part.
  • Tsurime Eyes: Though large, they definitely fall into this category.
  • Typecasting: Even though she writes other genres occasionally, she's only really known for mystery.
  • Youthful Freckles: Youngest looking character? You bet she's got freckles.

     Setsuka, SHSL Doll Maker

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/setsuka.png
Setsuka; Super High School Level Doll Maker

Really an enigma, not even present during the killing game. She acts through her doll, Niseko and is fond of using strange words and confusing analogies.

  • Antiquated Linguistics: Though not Shakespearean, the words she uses that are comprehensible are not what one would consider everyday common words.
  • Catchphrase: "Everyone! Farewell!" Although sometimes "farewell" is replaced with other words.
  • Character Tics: Often seen making the OK symbol. This is actually because she is usually holding a string.
  • Cryptic Conversation: Thanks to her ridiculous manner of speaking, she might as well need a translator. She makes Yukari look normal.
  • EmPHAsis On The Wrong SylLAble: Often in her speech, she draws out strange parts of words or will hold off on syllables. She is also the only character to pronounce every name with perfect Japanese. This is especially notable with Amari where this trope is subverted as she is the one to pronounce it correctly. AH-ma-ree vs everyone else's ah-MA-ree.
  • Evil Is Hammy: Boy is she ever. The way she talks itself often starts quiet and meticulous, then escalates into screeching, and perhaps drifts back down, maybe even into a barely audible whisper.
  • Face Framed in Shadow: Mostly for show, but is lampshaded by the narrator.
  • Giggling Villain: Kukuku... (And yes, each of those "ku"s are separately enunciated.)
  • Hidden Eyes: Hidden in shadow. Although sometimes she is described as her pink glare piercing through.
  • Lack of Empathy: It is not entirely wrong to say that Setsuka does not understand emotion. In fact, it's also not wrong to say that she acts entirely on impulse and not logic.
  • Meaningless Meaningful Words: Unequivicolly, every pronouncement is fabricated from conscientious musings so that she may disconcert the beholder beyond cognizance.
  • Mood-Swinger: So often that midsentence she might switch from delighted to infuriated.
  • Obviously Evil: She boasts about how cruel and wicked she is and she's not just spewing hot air. She openly admits to murder.
"For I am one of the alleged master criminals! Kukuku..."
  • Perfectly Cromulent Word: Kinda. Within her garbled speech, all of the words are actual words, though some may not be used entirely correctly.
  • Pimped-Out Dress: She has the most elaborate outfit of the entire cast with ribbons and several segments. Puffy sleeves, a mandarin collar that's laced up, and a string of traditionally styled pompoms on her right sleeve.
  • Signature Headgear: Her fez-like hat is very important to her.
  • Slasher Smile: Very fond of very creepily grinning.
  • Statuesque Stunner: She stands at an impressive 6' even. One inch below Amari.
  • The Watcher: As she is not physically present in the killing game, she watches through Niseko's eyes.

     Niseko, Setsuka's Doll

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/niseko.png
Niseko

Setsuka's doll. In complete contrast to Setsuka, Niseko is peppy and optimistic and, most surprisingly, friendly. Once you get past the fact that she's an animated doll, she makes for a good friend.

  • Ambiguous Innocence: She seems nice enough, but you mustn't forget that she is still Setsuka's doll.
  • Artificial Intelligence: Equipped with an AI for Setsuka to command as she wishes.
  • Creepy Doll: Self-explanatory.
  • Hime Cut: Her hair is cut in this way and her design, with wide sleeves and a pleated skirt, is reminiscent of a miko.
  • What Measure Is a Non-Human?: Her AI was tampered with, giving her a growing, adapting intelligence. Due to this, her status as a mere doll is called into question.

     Keroko, SHSL Herpetologist

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/keroko.png
Keroko; Super High School Level Herpetologist

A curious girl with the traits of a frog. Since she can't speak, she's quite introverted. Her webbed fingers and long sticky tongue leave many people quite confused on how she can even exist and Keroko wishes she could easily explain. Alas, she can only croak.

  • Animal Motifs: Resembling a frog, you might be surprised to find that she actually has some amphibian traits.
  • Animal Stereotypes: The fact that the herpetologist is a frog may, in fact, mean something. Or perhaps, the very fact that she's seemingly part frog may allude to something darker.
  • Cheerful Child: Her cheeriness is rarely ever broken. She is incredibly hard to break and will never truly get angry.
  • Meaningful Rename: As Yukari said, it's quite convenient that her name is "Keroko", one of the few things she can actually say. As Yukari confirms that this isn't her true name, it's more than likely that Keroko was chosen for this exact reason.
  • Nature Lover: She loves wildlife, especially, given her talent, reptiles and amphibians.
  • Nice Girl: As previously stated, she is very hard to depress. She often tries to lift peoples' spirits but the language barrier makes it hard for her.
  • Older Than She Looks: Keroko is 3'3" with the appearance of a child. But she, like Marise, is also in high school.
  • Secret-Keeper: There's no one better to keep secrets than someone who can't talk.
  • The Unintelligible: Only being able to croak, Keroko cannot directly communicate with the others except Yukari.

     Mei Meiyo, SHSL Ninja

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mei_8.png
Mei Meiyo; Super High School Level Ninja

Duty focused to the point of being socially inept. She doesn't know what many words mean or how many customs work. Her current job is working as an assassin for hire and she is very blunt about it. She kills people and she does not hide that fact.

  • Alliterative Name: Mei Meiyo.
  • Book Dumb: Mei hasn't had any sort of education. Anything you tell her, you're likely going to have to explain.
  • Child Soldier: Trained with her katana since she was a child. She is very adept at swordplay.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Despite being a hitman for others, she is not inherently evil. In fact, she is curious about others.
  • Dual Wielding: Though she usually uses her wakizashi, sometimes she pulls out her katana in combat.
  • Expressive Hair: When flustered, Mei's ahoge pops right up causing her further embarrassment.
  • Family Business: The Meiyo family has served as swordfighters for countless generations.
  • Hyper-Awareness: The most perceptive in the group. Unfortunately, she's not always clear on what she sees.
  • Idiot Hair: Mei has a hidden ahoge that she tries to keep brushed down. It doesn't always stay down, though.
  • Just Following Orders: Has killed people as 'Hit Requests' because she feels she cannot deny them.
  • Last-Name Basis: Only refers to people by family name.
  • Master Swordsman: Though her talent is 'ninja', she wields samurai daishō and is skilled with both blades. Her katana strap reads 'Kenjutsu', Kenjutsu being the art of swords.
  • No Social Skills: Due to her lack of common knowledge, she often can't follow a conversation.
  • Obliviously Evil: Mei doesn't quite understand that murder is not usually considered moral.
  • Picky Eater: She only eats fish and rice. Nothing else. However, this isn't due to choice but because she physically cannot eat anything else. Sweets are, well, too sweet. Spices are too strong. Etc.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: Subverted, despite her appearance and mannerisms, she is not inherently evil.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: She's a swordfighter and has acted as a hitman for many people in the past and sees nothing wrong with it.
  • Repetitive Name: Mei Meiyo.
  • Super Gullible: Just make any comment about killing, murder, or death and suddenly you have a hitman on your side.
  • Technicolor Eyes: She has naturally red eyes.
  • The Scapegoat: Thanks to Marise, she's is almost always the first accused in a trial.
  • The Stoic: Mei Meiyo never smiles.
  • What the Hell Is That Accent?: It's... something.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: With foxes. It's a fear which has extended from her childhood to the present.

     Yukari Nagakage, SHSL Psychoanalyst

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yukari_2.png
Yukari Nagakage; Super High School Level Psychoanalyst

Yukari's goals are unclear, but she seems to have some sort of supernatural ability that manifests in a cloud of red smoke. Somehow, Yukari seems to know everything that's happening all the time. She enjoys teasing people and isn't afraid of what people might think of her.

  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: With her initially innocent face and large bow, she looks quite friendly. But you'll very quickly find that this isn't the case.
  • Blue-and-Orange Morality: If black and white is the status quo, she's far from that. The characters get whiplash from her motivations that seemingly change on a whim but, in fact, it's really her crazed logic.
  • The Chessmaster: She knows what she's doing and everyone is just a pawn in her war against the mastermind.
  • Cryptic Conversation: Disguised as normal speech, thanks to her backward logic and jargon, she's can be quite difficult to understand.
  • Dissonant Serenity: Yukari rarely shows any emotion other than a smile as she teases.
  • Evil Laugh: Kyahahahahahahaha!
  • The Fake Cutie: She's nearly fully matured, but her cutesy style of ribbons and bows are quite childlike.
  • Manipulative Bitch: She's not afraid to use people and then dispose of them. It doesn't matter what people think.
  • Matter Replicator: She can seemingly conjure whatever items she wishes.
  • Meta Guy: She seems to know exactly what's going on. Often citing references from canon Danganronpa games.
  • Pure Energy: Her red smoke.
  • Reality Warper: Often defying gravity or pulling objects out of thin air, it seems like logic holds no grip on Yukari.
  • Solid Clouds: She sometimes uses her smoke as a platform to stand, sit, or lie down on.
  • Stepford Smiler: She's nearly always smiling innocently but she's obviously always plotting and considering every tiny detail. It doesn't take a genius to know that someone so unreadable is hiding something.
  • Symbol Motif Clothing: Her dress depicts a red diamond pattern, reminiscent of the card suit. This is a shoutout to Alice in Wonderland's card theme and it's wacky logic.
  • Technician vs. Performer: The Technician to Kouki's Performer except she usually doesn't fight back or even regard Kouki. To an extent, she also plays this role to Setsuka and is much more active in it, purposefully trying to confuse and infuriate her.
  • Translator Buddy: To Keroko. Since Keroko tries to speak what she means, Yukari who can ascertain her meaning through her subconscious acts as her translator.
  • Verbal Tic: Calling people "love" and ending some of her sentences with "Yes?" Her speech in this regard is opposite to Shigeru.
