    Doughy Latchkey

Doughy Latchkey

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/doughey.png
Voiced by: Scott Adsit

Orel's best friend.

  • Abusive Parents: Doughy's parents have never grown out of their "high school sweethearts" phase, still acting like teenagers and wearing their uniforms despite being full-grown adults. They outright neglect Doughy by giving him money and ushering him to get out of the house so that he won't bother them.
  • Butt-Monkey: He's subject to a lot of physical pratfalls, especially at Hurtball.
  • The Ditz: The kid's not all there upstairs.
  • Easily Forgiven: If "Abstinence" is anything to go by, it seems that Orel had forgiven Doughy for what he did in "Trigger" and the two had made up.
  • I Just Want to Be Loved: His parents treat him more like an Annoying Younger Sibling, resulting in him being badly affection starved.
  • Jerkass Ball: He holds this in "Trigger”.
  • Loving a Shadow: He probably only had a crush on Miss Sculptham because she called him "son," something his parents don't.
  • Meaningful Name: His surname refers to latchkey kids.
  • Nice, Mean, and In-Between: Out of Orel's main group of friends, he's the nicest one.
  • Parental Neglect: His parents constantly want him out of the house so they can just cuddle and make out together.
  • Precocious Crush: On Miss Sculptham, since she called him "son" (albeit she's apathetic to teaching in general).
  • Visual Pun: The lost episode "Abstinence" has him constantly ruining people's chances for sex. So what does his dad give him as a job? To stop roosters from fornicating at the farm.
  • Yes-Man: Toward Orel, he usually attempts to talk him out from his ideas, but always ends up helping him go through them.
    Tommy Littler

Tommy Littler

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/moral_orel_tommy_0.png
Voiced by: Britta Phillips

One of Orel's friends.

  • Jerkass Ball: He's generally a decent kid, but he's holds this in Beforel Orel, where he took advantage of Orel's naivety in by making him perform dangerous stunts for amusement.
  • Nice, Mean, and In-Between: Out of Orel's main group of friends, he's the in-between. Whilst he has had moments of teasing and picking on Orel, episodes like "God's Blunders" shows that he does have an altruistic side to him as he defended the "special education" class's students from being bullied.
  • The Smart Guy: Tommy is pretty knowledgable when it comes to scientific subjects and apparently enjoys studying. He's also one of the few residents to question Moralton's religious dogma.
    "Kid One"

Kid One

Voiced by:

One of Orel's friends.

  • Flat Character: Not much is known about him, outside of being one of Orel's friends.
  • No Name Given: His name is never revealed for unknown reasons, usually being referred to as "him" by his friends. It becomes a running gag, to the point where he immediately gets interrupted by Orel in his attempt to reveal his name in Beforel Orel.
    Joe Secondopinionson

Joe Secondopinionson

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/joesec_2053.jpg
Voiced by: Jay Johnston

Coach Stopframe's nephew and another friend of Orel's. Also, Nurse Bendy's son.

  • Actually Pretty Funny: While Joe initially hijacks the microphones during Orel's movie to mock it, he genuinely enjoys the scenes recounting Orel's brief crack addiction from "Charity." At least until Orel complains that Joe is ruining the movie; then Joe goes back to hating it.
  • Attention Whore: His bullying antics are just to make sure all eyes are on him.
  • Blowing a Raspberry: Almost bordering on Character Tics, to the point he does it at Bendy's teddy bear.
  • The Bully: A classic archetype for Orel to deal with. Of course, that also gets deconstructed in Season 3, as it's revealed that his violent behavior is a mask for his insecurities and fears formed from his home life.
  • Don't You Dare Pity Me!: In "Dumb," Joe tells Orel that his mom died giving birth to him (as his father always claimed). When Orel appears to feel bad for him, Joe gets angry and threatens to beat him up.
  • Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: His bonding with Nurse Bendy is one of the few sweet moments in Season 3.
  • Freudian Excuse: Joe is unquestionably a total brat. Having no parents that can adequately care for him in any way can make this happen.
  • Hate Sink: Joe is a cruel and obnoxious brat. He turns out to be a subversion when we discover what the cause of his behavior is and he reconciles with his mother. The true hate sink is his father, who raped Nursed Bendy when she was a teenager, causing her extreme emotional problems.
  • Hidden Depths: "Oral's Movie Premiere" hints that Joe is the one of the few people who is fully aware of how screwed-up and dysfunctional Moralton actually is.
  • Jerkass: He's an angry bully who is usually picking on Orel and Shapey.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: After being depicted as a complete jerk, he slowly begins to get better when he meets his real mother, Nurse Bendy.
  • Kids Are Cruel: He was this before he and his mother bond, doing things like throwing rocks at cars and beating up gay kids.
  • Nice, Mean, and In-Between: Out of Orel's main group of friends, he's by far the cruelest one. Whilst Orel does still consider Joe a friend, the latter shows very little respect towards him and frequently bullies him.
  • Son of a Whore: Specifically, Nurse Bendy. However, he doesn't mind it at all.
    Billy Figurelli

Billy Figurelli

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/moral_orel_billy.png
Another one of Orel's friends, and Sal Figurelli's son.
  • Demoted to Extra: He was originally in Orel's circle of friends, but he isn't seen as much after "Elemental Orel", only making cameo appearances from then on. The only involvement with Orel seems to be in "Innocence", but even then his screen time was cut very short.
    Christina Posabule

Christina Posabule

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chrpos_3636.jpg
Voiced by: Carolyn Lawrence

Orel's Distaff Counterpart and mutual crush.

  • Cheerful Child: Just as cheerful as Orel since they're both similar in personality.
  • Distaff Counterpart: To Orel as they both come from hardcore Protestant familes, have an optimistic attitude and are voiced by the same actress. Rev. Putty even refers to her as Orel's "little Orelette."
  • Happily Married: To Orel in the far off finale.
  • Meaningful Name: Parodied. Clay says that her name means "tiny little female Christ." In reality, "Christina" is a female form of "Christian", both derivatives of the Latin name "Christinus", meaning "follower of Christ."
  • Official Couple: With Orel, especially in "Closeface" when they dance together.
  • Satellite Love Interest: It's hard to describe her other than being Orel's mutual crush.

    Block Posabule

Block Posabule

Voiced by: Tigger Stamatopoulos

Christina's younger brother, even more of a carbon copy of Shapey than she is of Orel.

  • Bratty Half-Pint: Just like Shapey he is spoiled and screams just as often.
  • Fiery Redhead: He is a redhead who is just as loud and bratty as his adopted brother Shapey.
  • Happily Adopted: In spite of both of his sets of parents being horrendously neglective, he couldn't be happier having a new brother in Shapey.
  • Parental Abandonment: Orel and Bloberta attempted to bring him back to the Posabules after they accidentally took Shapey with them - he ran off the first time, and Poppet shut the door without much ado when he clung to Bloberta instead of coming back to her.
  • Positive Friend Influence: Block and Shapey start mellowing out after the two start living together. Had the series not been cancelled, "Nurture" would have shown how they helped each other emotionally mature instead of only getting the chance to exhibit their changes at the end of "Sacrifice".
  • Stock Audio Clip: Most of his lines and noises such as laughing and screaming are reused.

Adults

    Ms. Censordoll

Ms. Frances Clara Censordoll

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fracen_4475.jpg
Voiced by: Jay Johnston; Scott Adsit (Season 3)

The fun-hating librarian who's obsessed with eggs and censoring what she finds "immoral".

  • Abusive Parents: Her mother, for some unknown reason, had her reproductive organs removed when she was a baby.
  • Child Hater: According to the episode Alone, she says, "Babies are the Devil's scabies."
  • Evil Matriarch: Miss Censordoll aspires to be one for the entire town. She actually runs for mayor as "Town Mayor-triarch".
  • Freudian Excuse: She had her ovaries and other sexual organs removed as a child. This has caused her to be the a rather unstable matriarch-to-be with a fetish for eggs.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: She was meant to be this, but the series' cancellation subverted it. Originally, Censordoll was meant to be the one who made Clay shoot Orel with voodoo for some unknown reason, but due to the cancellation, this plot point was removed and Clay shot Orel of his own volition.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: In "Offensiveness", she recruits Orel into her protest group that pickets things for the silliest reasons. Eventually he starts protesting the grocery store for selling eggs, her favorite food, because they come out of a chicken's private parts. When she tries to change his mind, he simply repeats back to her what she said earlier: "We shouldn't tolerate evil just because it's a convenience."
  • Holier Than Thou: Bordering on A God Am I. This is due to her mother removing her ovaries when she was just a baby, which has deluded her into believing that she is just like God.
Reverend Putty (on the radio): We need others in our lives as a constant reminder that we're not the center of the universe. Because there's only one person who's reserved that particular section of the cosmos. And you know who that is, ladies...
    Ms. Censordoll: Yes... ME!!!
  • Hollywood Voodoo: She was originally meant to practice this, using a doll of Clay to make him shoot Orel in Nature. However, this was subverted on a meta level, as the plot point never got into the show, although she still fiddles with figurines resembling Orel and Clay in Alone, which were supposed to be revealed as the voodoo dolls.
  • Karma Houdini: Thanks to the show being cut short, she's never really punished for her manipulative and hypocritical ways.
  • Knight Templar: Out of all the adults in Moralton, she is by far the strictest when it comes to upholding God's law.
  • Larynx Dissonance: Miss Censordoll is voiced by a man.
  • Meaningful Name: If you shorten her name to just the initials, you get FCC, a reference to the Federal Communications Commission.
  • Not So Above It All: After Orel gets her favorite food (eggs) banned from Moralton, she joins the rest of the townspeople in buying eggs at a black-market club.
  • Old Maid: She just turned 40 in the series, and is a bitter single woman with a sexual interest in eggs.
  • Scary Librarian: She routinely burns books she thinks might be the least bit provocative — right next to the library's circulation desk. Case in point: she tears a Bible in half and burns one half for having "Jewish parts".
  • A Sinister Clue: She's shown as left-handed in "Offensiveness" and "Alone".
  • Straw Hypocrite: Even more so than the citizens of Moralton. When Orel started a protest against eggs, she went along with it because she felt it would help her image, even though she loved eggs to the point of obsession (and also because she figured she could secretly keep the mayor from ever banning them). After the protest led to a citywide ban on eggs, she was forced to buy them illegally. Word of God stated that if the series continued on, she would've been a practitioner of voodoo.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Eggs, especially pickled (from the jar on her desk) or under-fried and "extra-slithery" (served by Mr. Figurelli).
  • Younger Than They Look: Hard to imagine that she just turned 40, it's implied that her lack of reproductive organs is why she aged so badly.

    Coach Stopframe

Coach Daniel(le) Stopframe

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dansto_2628.jpg
Voiced by: Jay Johnston; Scott Adsit (Season 3)

Orel's gym teacher and Shapey's biological father.

  • Affably Evil: He's a pretty chill guy for someone who has orgies and takes part in Satanic rituals in his spare time.
  • Arc Symbol: Rotating crosses, to symbolize his wishy-washy religious affiliation.
  • Depraved Bisexual: His obsession with Clay notwithstanding, Stopframe is also a sometimes-Satanist, and in one episode sleeps with a group of prositutes — and one dog.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: He does legitimately care about Orel. What convinces him to finally cut ties with Clay is finding out that Clay shot Orel and lied to him about it.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: He's by no means a good person, but even he eventually sees Clay for what he is. Also he was visibly repulsed by the Satanists and their hedonistic ways to the point where he actually mouths "What the f**k?"
    • Coach Stopframe is told by Clay that his son Orel came between him and the bear when he shot Orel's leg. But when Orel tells him the truth, that Clay shot his leg while drunk and blamed the bear, he was disgusted. You can hear the anger and disgust in his voice when he tells Orel that his coming between him and the bear is one of the lies Clay made up.
Orel: And then he told everyone that I accidentally shot myself, or the bear shot me.
Stopframe: (frowning) Or that you got between the bear and him.
  • Gender-Blender Name: His name is Daniel. But it's pronounced like the feminine "Danielle". Doesn't help that in "Numb" a note from him has him spell it the feminine way.
  • Hollywood Satanism: An on-again-off-again Satanist who regularly tries to play both God and Satan to get what he wants.
  • Karma Houdini: Not only does Clay never find out that Stopframe fathered Shapey with Bloberta (although Clay had a funny feeling that there was something up) but he was never caught for starting the fire that almost destroyed Moralton in "In God's Image".
  • Mistaken for Pedophile: He spends time with Orel as a father figure in the series finale and genuinely gets along with him. When Clay comes in and sees them having fun, he immediately accuses him of sexually abusing Orel, though as a reflection of how screwed-up he is, Clay frames it as though he had caught Stopframe having an affair with Orel.
  • Parental Substitute: In the series finale, he spends time with Orel as a father figure, and they genuinely have fun. Clay instantly misconstrues this as him and Orel having an affair.
  • Pet the Dog: For all his vices, Stopframe does seem to genuinely like Orel;
    • In "Maturity," he can be seen at Orel's surprise birthday party, and in "The Best Christmas Ever," he compliments Orel's athletic abilities.
    • In the finale, he gives Orel some much needed advice. Alongside this, he learns what kind of person Clay really is through the way he treats his family. Once he eyes are open, he cuts all ties immediately.
  • Stalker with a Crush: For Clay, even going to such lengths as having an affair with his wife to feel closer to him and not-so-discreetly taking pictures of Clay through his bedroom window. He quickly gets over it when he sees just how much of an awful man Clay is.
  • Single-Target Sexuality: Also for Clay. Until the third season finale.

    Reverend Putty

Reverend Rod Putty

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/reverend.png
Voiced by: William Salyers

The Moralton's church's pastor.

  • Character Development: One of the few adults to genuinely and unambiguously change for the better. This is greatly shown in "Innocence" where he realizes that while Orel is at fault for all the chaos he has caused throughout town, he knows not to pin it all on Orel; as the adults he gets his misinformed advice from are also responsible.
  • Chick Magnet: Has had at least 4 womennote  lust after him on-screen.
  • Deadpan Snarker: His sermons are peppered with all kinds of jabs at the holy book.
  • Defeat Equals Friendship: At the start of the series, Putty clearly barely tolerates Orel's devotion toward him, occasionally graduating to outright hatred but interspersed with attempts at genuine advice. At his Despair Event Horizon, Putty finally gets a date with a woman, only for the woman to reveal she's actually his daughter. Putty is convinced that everything in his life is a sham, even mockingly letting Orel stand at the pulpit to talk about God's love. Orel then discusses that God's love comes in faith, friendship, and family, but not often in all three. Putty's moved into his Heel–Face Turn, and genuinely tries to help Orel thereafter.
  • Dodgy Toupee: His rug isn't fooling anyone.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: The main reason he gets burned from his job is he has a lot of the responsibility for dealing with such a miserable flock (and Orel, who while well-meaning is a nightmare to manage), but none of the benefits. Due to the superficiality of faith in Moralton, the reverend is simultaneously the most respected and most hated man in town.
  • Euphemistic Names: Rod Putty = semen.
  • Everyone Has Standards: In "Alone," Putty's radio sermon is interrupted by a man reporting the death of convicted rapist Cecil Creepler. The reporter then goes on to describe how the criminal was apprehended when Miss Sculptham "heroically" allowed him to invade her house and assault her; Putty admonishes the reporter for including so many grisly details.
  • Good Shepherd: Surprisingly, by the end of the show, Putty has firmly become one of these.
  • Heel–Face Turn: The only adult in the entire series to unambiguously do this.
  • Heel–Faith Turn: As Putty mellows out, he also develops a renewed faith as well.
  • Heteronormative Crusader: Makes sermons about his disgust for homosexuals, hinting toward his disdain for Coach Stopframe's behavior. He ultimately does evolve from this out of love for his lesbian daughter Stephanie.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He starts out as bigoted and hypocritical like the other adults. But he comes to love his daughter Stephanie and even as a softer side towards Orel.
  • Jizzed in My Pants: When Bloberta tries to proposition to him, Putty ejaculates in his pants and embarrassed, asks Bloberta to go away.
  • Kick the Dog: In "Sundays," a recently divorced Florence Papermouth brings an extremely reluctant Putty back to her apartment so they can have sex. Putty ends up crying out the name of Florence's conventionally attractive roommate (and former friend) Dottie, whom he's actually attracted to, and immediately exclaims "My God, What Have I Done?" afterwards. In response, Florence tries to reassure Putty that she's not upset, only for him to clarify that he was referring to doing the deed with her. Cue Florence bursting into tears, and even Dottie (who was listening in through the door) being visibly taken aback.
  • Knight in Sour Armor: He's a cynical man, but he eventually tries to do right by his flock.
  • Luke, You Are My Father: He is Stephanie's father.
  • Lust Object: Of Gladys Foamwire. She, a religious nut even by Moralton's standards, rigorously stalked him and memorized his patterns, before sneaking into his house and stealing his trash bin full of tissues. The result of this was Stephanie.
  • Not So Above It All: In "Closeface", he bonds with his daughter after finding out that they both have a snarky sense of humor.
  • Only Sane Man: Putty has many of the faults and cynicism that most Mortalon residents have, but he seems more self aware and even at one point tries to have the town stop trying to give Orel lessons since he always misinterprets them and screws something up. As the show progresses he's one of the only people to try and address his own flaws and eventually becomes one of the few to try and reach out to Orel.
  • Open-Minded Parent: He becomes more accepting of homosexuals thanks to his love for Stephanie. In "Closeface," he reveals that the reason he disapproved of Stephanie's relationship with Kim back in her high-school days wasn't because they were both girls, but because he could tell Kim was just using Stephanie.
  • Pet the Dog: Upon realizing that his entire congregation is miserable, including Orel, Putty takes it upon himself to cheer them all up.
    • In "Closeface," Putty reveals to Stephanie that he felt bad for her the night she and Kim kissed in front of him, because it was clear to him that Kim never cared about Stephanie. This is especially noteworthy, as not only does Putty claim to the present day that "integration is just a theme," but this was long before Putty found out Stephanie was his daughter.
  • Sex Is Evil, and I Am Horny: Despite being a pastor, which means preaching against sex for pleasure and definitely masturbation, he masturbates himself and is very sexually frustrated.
  • Smoking Hot Sex: After hooking up with some prostitutes, he's seen smoking a cigarette during a sermon.
  • Snark Knight: Amongst his fellow fundamentalists. He knows fully well how screwed up Moralton is.
  • Straw Hypocrite: Like most adults, and one of the few to grow out of it.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: After the events of "Be Fruitful and Multiply".

    Stephanie Foamwire-Putty

Stephanie Foamwire-Putty

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/stephanie.png
Voiced by: Britta Phillips

The atheistic owner of Buried Pleasures and the most rational person in the entire town. Also Rev. Putty's daughter.

  • Butch Lesbian: Lots of piercings, has short hair, always wearing black, and runs a sex shop.
  • Character Tics: She makes new piercings on herself whenever she gets too emotional.
  • Cool Big Sis: To Orel as she gives him much saner advice than anyone else in all of Moralton.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Hell, she's a downright pleasant individual and the nicest person out of the rest of the town.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: She's in her twenties and has a solid friendship with the twelve-year-old Orel.
  • Nice Girl: She is grateful towards her loved ones and gives Orel well-meaning advice.
  • Only Sane Man: Stephanie's the only recurring adult character who takes her relationship with Orel seriously and responsibly.
  • Parental Substitute: Stephanie's so maternal to Orel, in fact, she gives herself another piercing to tamp down her rising parental instincts for him, as she knows he's got a crush on her.
  • The Pastor's Queer Kid: In the season 3 episode "Closeface", we learn that she is a lesbian because she was in a relationship with Kim (Doughy's mother) back when they were in school. Of course, Doughy's mom thought it was just a way to get Karl to notice her. We also learn that Reverend Putty knows his daughter's a lesbian, and is actually okay with that. Her relationship with her father eventually improves enough that, in a Freeze-Frame Bonus in "Dumb", she's scratched out the "Foamwire" part of her last name on her apartment doorbell, just leaving "Putty".

    Miss Sculptham

Miss Agnes Sculptham

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/missagnes.png
Voiced by: Britta Phillips

The schoolteacher who Doughy had a crush on and really doesn't seem to like her job.

  • Apathetic Teacher: You can barely call what she does teaching in the first place.
  • Beehive Hairdo: Her hairstyle.
  • Child by Rape: She becomes pregnant after being raped by Creepler.
  • Deadpan Snarker: She's really bored and uncaring while on the clock, so her students get a lot of snarky lessons.
  • Does Not Like Men: It's implied that she doesn't like men in the lost episode "Raped", where, after finding out that she's (still) pregnant, she tells the fetus, "Oh, I hope you don’t turn out to be a man."
  • Dye or Die: In an attempt to get raped by Creepler.
  • Gold Digger: Towards Doughy.
  • Good Girls Avoid Abortion: Possibly plays this trope straight if you didn't consider her to be "good." Word of God says that her coathanger abortion wasn't successful, as she was pregnant with twins and only killed one.
  • No-Dialogue Episode: To add to its shock value, she does not speak a word during "Alone." note
  • Rape Leads to Insanity: As shown in "Alone," being sexually assaulted by Creepler has taken a toll on her mental state.

    Nurse Bendy

Nurse Nursula Bendy

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nurben_6092.jpg
Voiced by: Britta Phillips

The Town Bicycle nurse of the school and the Moralton's hospital. Also, Joe's mom.

  • Age-Gap Romance: When Nurse Bendy got pregnant with Joe, she was only 12 years old, which would have put Dr. Secondopinionson at about 75 when he impregnated Nurse Bendy. No wonder she's got so many issues.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Granted, Joe may be the neighborhood bully, but he is the only one who respects Nurse Bendy in contrast to the other residents seeing her as a sex toy. This gets her and Joe to bond.
  • Brainless Beauty: Deconstructed when she shows that she really wants to have children and raise a normal family, but the stereotype of being a nymphomaniac keeps her from fulfilling it.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: She was molested by her biological parents, was a statutory rape victim to someone 60 years her senior (and was impregnated by him, no less!), fell victim to sexual abuse countlessly, etc.
  • The Ditz: She's not a very bright individual.
  • Dumb Blonde: A blonde nurse who is incompetent at her job, and the only reason she got hired was because others find her attractive. Downplayed, as she's not a natural blonde.
  • Dye or Die: Her real hair is black. Like her son, Joe.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: After all her psychological troubles, she got to reunite with her biological son and moves on from her "toy children".
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Downplayed. She has her flaws, but she's easily much more pleasant than most of the other adults in Moralton.
  • Hidden Depths: When she's stopped being used as the town bicycle, she reveals a nice personality under it. She's also aware despite her low intelligence that the men of the town only see her as a sex object and wants to be seen as more.
  • Hired for Their Looks: And hoo boy did it do a number on her mental status.
  • Hospital Hottie: Why she has the job in the first place. She's not very good at the medical stuff.
  • Missing Mom: To Joe. However, the two eventually do meet.
  • The Mistress: To Principal Fakey.
  • Really Gets Around: She's well known around town for having dozens of sexual partners, which takes a toll on her mental health as seen in "Alone".
  • School Nurse: Though she doesn't really do much nursing.
  • Stepford Smiler: When she's off the clock. Otherwise, she usually has a tired, frowning look on her face.
  • Teen Pregnancy: She had given birth to Joe when she was only 13.
  • Womanchild: "Alone" shows her lifestyle to be strongly reminscent of that of a 7-year-old, playing with her stuffed toys and acting like they're real people.

    Ms. Secondopinionson

Miss Secondopinionson

Voiced by: Jeff Bryan Davis

Joe's half-sister.

  • Beware the Nice Ones: Downplayed. She pointedly does absolutely nothing to stop Joe from beating the shit out of their father once Joe's discovered the truth about his mom, with the obvious implication she let it happen because Dr. Secondopinionson raped Nurse Bendy when she was 12.
  • Hypercompetent Sidekick: To Principal Fakey.
  • Ironic Echo: Joe spends the entirety of "Dumb" ignoring his half-sister's attempts to discipline him by declaring "You're not my mom!" After Joe learns the truth about his mom and takes his frustration out on his dad, he asks Ms. Secondopinionson why she never told him the truth. Her response?
Ms. Secondopinionson: Why should I tell you anything? I'm not your mom.
  • Larynx Dissonance: Miss Secondopinionson is voiced by a man.
  • Nice Girl: She shows nothing but patience and consideration towards her brother Joe's wild behavior, and is still willing to look after her elderly father despite the fact that he raped an adolescent girl and got her pregnant. She then gently nudges Joe to go live with Nurse Bendy, right after she allowed Joe to deliver a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown to their dad for what he did.
  • Only Sane Man: Comes off this way in her family, as her elderly father has debilitating dementia, and her half-brother Joe is a Bratty Half-Pint.
  • Practically Different Generations: She's in her mid-to-late twenties, and has a twelve-year-old half-brother.
  • Professional Voice Dissonance: When doing her job as a secretary, she speaks in a feminine, nasally voice by holding her nose; she also does it when talking on the phone both at work and at home. Her actual speaking voice is deep and masculine.
  • Promotion to Parent: Along with caring for her elderly, Alzheimer's-stricken father, she's also the primary caretaker of her younger half-brother, Joe. At the end of "Dumb," Joe goes to live with his actual mother.
  • Vocal Dissonance: She's a young woman with a naturally deep, masculine voice.

    Dr. Potterswheel

Dr. Quentin Xavier Potterswheel

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/quepot_8684.jpg
Voiced by: Scott Adsit

The town's gynecologist, who's obsessed with gore.

  • Comically Inept Healing: He's a pretty terrible doctor when it comes down to it. When Orel has a gunshot wound to the foot, his advice is to eat a lot of fatty foods to clog up his arteries, thereby minimizing bleeding. This is played for laughs at first, but not so much when it starts to sink in how having such an inept doctor hurts the town.
Dr. Potterswheel: (Looking at a flat-lining Orel) It isn't healthy to be dead that long.
  • Dr. Feelgood: Which might have resulted in his wife's death—he kept giving her painkillers rather than actually treating her wounds.
  • Dr. Jerk: Very snarky and not really good at his job, all things considered.
  • Everyone Has Standards:
    • When Clay tries provoking him into a fight, most notably insulting his dead wife and his malpractice. Potterswheel and the others just blow him off rather than stoop to his level.
    • Similarly he stops Papermouth from pistol-whipping Clay after Clay hits his Berserk Button.
  • Lack of Empathy: Not very caring for a doctor.
  • Never My Fault: Death is God's fault, not his.
  • Nightmare Fetishist: He's turned on by Bloberta mutilating her lower region. It's strongly implied that his wife indulging him in this is what led to her death.
  • The Noseless: Unlike everyone else, he has no visible nose.

    Principal Fakey

Principal Norm Fakey

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/norfak_8937.jpg
Voiced by: Jay Johnston

The School's principal who's in an affair with Nurse Bendy.

  • Harmful to Minors: After finding out he caught an STD, he walks around school angrily while screaming.
  • Hate Sink: Not as bad as Clay or Cecil, but the show makes it clear that he's not meant to be liked. He's a hypocritical, misogynistic adulterer who regularly cheats on his wife with Nurse Bendy. Whilst there were instances of him feeling guilty of his actions, it was mostly out of fear of him getting caught or being forced to be held accountable for what he did, evidenced by how he continued going through with his affair.
  • Implausible Deniability: Does this to himself after taking Orel's advice, saying that he's been as faithful as ever as he's having sex with Nurse Bendy.
  • Insane Troll Logic: Upon finding out he caught an STD, he ends up believing it's because his wife has been cheating. The fact that he caught it from Nurse Bendy (who he's been having an affair with, and who has multiple partners) never even crosses his mind.
  • I Was Quite a Looker: Formerly Coach Fakey, and appeared to be in good shape.
  • Lack of Empathy: He doesn't actually feel bad for cheating on his wife, he just feels bad for himself and fears the idea of being caught. He also doesn't at all care for what Nurse Bendy wants, and essentially treats her like a sex slave.
  • Ugly Guy, Hot Wife: Was this with his wife, as well as Ugly Guy, Hot Girlfriend to Nurse Bendy.

    Officer Papermouth

Officer Roger Papermouth

Voiced by: Jay Johnston
One of Moralton's police officers.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: When Officer Papermouth sees his recent ex-wife Florence taking Rev. Putty up to her apartment to be intimate, he takes his daughter's beloved Teddy bear (a gift from Florence) while she's sleeping and empties his gun into it. For what it's worth, he immediately regrets it afterwards.
  • Everyone Has Standards: When Clay goes off on him over Papermouth's own insecurities, he just takes it. When Clay makes a derogatory comment to the bartender Dolly, hereto shown only as a friendly individual to all of them, Papermouth slams Clay's head on the bar and is about to pistol whip him when Dr. Potterswheel stops him.
  • Heel Realization: After he shoots up his daughter's teddy bear.
  • Police Are Useless: Quite often, which is part of the reason Florence left him.
  • Understanding Boyfriend: Would have been this to Bloberta.

Officer Papermouth's ex-wife.

  • Abhorrent Admirer: To Reverend Putty. Until "Sundays" completely dashes away her expectations of him.
  • Ascended Extra: She's merely a background character often seen at Church and occasionally in Moralton throughout the whole show. It isn't until "Sundays" we actually learn about her (which features most of her appearances).
  • A Day in the Limelight: "Sundays."
  • Big Eater: It's why she's so fat!
  • Extreme Doormat: Subverted with most people, as she's one of the few people in Moralton actually prepared to stand up for herself rather than put up with another's abuse or shameful behaviour. Played straight with Reverend Putty though for whom she'll put up with anything, including him calling out her roommate's name during sex. His open regret over sleeping with her before they even get out of bed is a step too far, though.
  • Fat and Skinny: Fat to Dottie's Skinny.
  • Formerly Fat: Would have become this, had the show not been cancelled.
  • Good Parents: She does seem to have a good relationship with her daughter, as the girl's Teddy bear comes with a heart that says "Love, Mom."
  • Odd Couple: With Dottie. She's shyer and is easily put down or dismissed by Dottie.

Florence's friend and she was more of a background character until "Sundays".

  • Abusive Parents: "Love" shows her angrily spanking her daughter in public after the little girl says she misses her dad.
  • A Day in the Limelight: "Sundays", where we get more characterization out of her.
  • Everyone Has Standards: When Dottie listens in on Florence and Rev. Putty having sex, she initially smiles when Putty cries out her name instead. However, even she's visibly taken aback when Putty immediately makes it clear that he regrets doing the deed with Florence, causing the latter to cry.
  • Fat and Skinny: Skinny to Florence's Fat. At one point, Dottie mocks the latter because of her weight while claiming it to be constructive criticism.
  • Motor Mouth: Once she has more speaking roles in "Sundays", she talks way faster than anyone else in the show, to the point that it's almost overwhelming.
  • Not So Stoic: When Florence breaks off their friendship after one passive-aggressive jab too many, the normally confident and outspoken Dottie bursts into tears.
  • Odd Couple: With Florence. Most of what she does with Florence is mock her weight and dismiss her, along with being more assertive and domineering.
  • Passive-Aggressive Kombat: She repeatedly makes jabs about Florence's appearance and weight, despite considering her a friend. Florence is aware she does this and calls her out on it; ultimately, Florence ends up breaking off their friendship after one comment too many.
  • Sour Outside, Sad Inside: Barely lets anyone get a word in edgewise, openly mocks Florence's size, and flirts with Reverend Putty in front of her just because she can. However, she breaks down crying when it costs her her friendship with Florence and seems quite insecure in general after her husband left her.
  • Weight Woe: She is bulimic.

    Mr. Creepler

Cecil Creepler

The ice-cream man also secretly a rapist.

  • Asshole Victim: After finding out he got killed in his prison cell, it's honestly well-deserved for his disgusting, depraved rapist actions. Doesn't stop Sculptham from having feelings for him, though.
  • Bad Humor Truck: He's Moralton's local ice cream man and is a serial rapist and child molester.
  • Cerebus Call-Back: His attempts to lure Doughy into his van in "Love" were mostly played for Black Comedy. "Alone" reveals that he's actually a notorious Serial Rapist, shining a much darker light on his previous actions.
  • Depraved Bisexual: He is known for raping women, and wanted Doughy to come into his van so he could do the same to him.
  • Driven to Suicide: He was found dead in his jail cell. A planned episode of Season 3 Raped would've had him do so in response to Miss Sculptham terminating the pregnancies.
  • The Eeyore: A very mopey man who rarely smiles. It only adds to how... off he is compared to everybody else.
  • Faux Affably Evil: He may look like a nice, friendly ice cream man, but in reality, he's a vile pedophile and rapist.
  • Hate Sink: Even compared to the other citizens of Moralton, he's a sadistic rapist without the slightest bit of redeeming qualities. While many of the characters on this show are either complete jerks or insane religious fundamentalists, all of them, including Clay, at least have sort of moral restraint or a good excuse for their behavior. Creepler has none of that.
  • Knight of Cerebus: By far the darkest character in the show. His rape spree is taken dead seriously, and his role in the episode "Alone" solidifies the series' transformation into a psychological drama.
  • Lack of Empathy: Being a sociopath, he's doesn't fell any sort of empathy to his victims that he just sexually assaulted.
  • Meaningful Name: His last name Creepler is fitting as he's a depraved serial rapist and pedophile.
  • Obviously Evil: His voice and demeanor are so blatantly off-putting that even Orel is wary of him.
  • Pædo Hunt: Tried to elicit Doughy into getting into the back of his van so that he can molest him, only to backfire at the end of the episode.
  • Perpetual Frowner: He doesn't smile unless he's aroused.
  • Rape Is a Special Kind of Evil: He's a serial rapist, and is the most unlikable and evil character in the whole series, surpassing Clay in sheer unlikability and amorality in every conceivable way.
  • Serial Rapist: Through some serious Cerebus Syndrome, Creepler is revealed to have raped eight women in the infamous Season 3 episode "Alone".
  • The Sociopath: He's a sociopathic rapist and pedophile who doesn't feel any remorse for his depraved actions or any of the victims he raped.
  • Would Hurt a Child: While he's raped 8 women, kids aren't off his menu, either.

    Kim and Karl

Kim and Karl Latchkey

Voiced by: KK Dodds (Kim), Jay Johnston (Karl), Dino Stamatopoulos (Karl, Abstinence)
Doughy's parents
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: In the first episode, Doughy claims "cleanliness is next to godliness" is something his mother says, making it sound like his parents are akin to Oral's in strictness. While not totally out of the realm of possibility, this certainly doesn't sound like the Kim we would eventually meet.
  • Girl on Girl Is Hot: Karl was attracted to Kim pretending to have feelings for Stephanie and kissing her.
  • I Have No Son!: Doughy feeling flattered when someone calls him "son" implies they never called him "son" once.
  • Jerkass: They purposefully neglect Doughy. Kim also toyed with Stephanie's feelings when they were teens.
  • Parental Neglect: They are too busy making out to pay attention to Doughy. They even pay him to leave them alone.
  • Manchild: Both act more like teenagers than adults, they even still wear their school uniforms.
