Undeads

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/undead_mark.png
Undeads are the kaijin of the show. There are 52 or rather, 53 Undeads each competing in the Battle Fight, with the victor's species gaining dominance over the world. The winner of the previous Battle Fight ten thousand years ago was the Human Undead, resulting in the dominance of humanity.

Most of the "numbered" Undead are only capable of speaking their own language; however, those belonging to the so-called Royal Club can take on human disguise and speak human languages like Japanese. Their motivations are diverse and complex, from one fond of humanity (Tarantula Undead/Noboru Shima) to one with very sinister designs (Spider Undead).

    General Tropes
  • All There in the Manual: Only around half of the Royal Clubs have their human aliases said in the series.
  • Ambiguously Human: Unlike the rest of the Undeads, Category Two of Hearts Human Undead is hardly different in appearance from his descendants (A.K.A all of humanity).
  • Arc Villain: The Royal Club Undead generally serve as this, with several taking the focus for a time in between the regular Monster of the Week battles.
  • Bat Out of Hell: Category Eight of Diamonds Bat Undead.
  • Bears Are Bad News: Category Six of Clubs Polar Undead.
  • Bee Afraid: Category Two of Clubs Bee Undead.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Noboru Shima/Tarantula Undead aka the King of Clubs, is perhaps one of the nicest characters in the series. The biggest example though is the Human Undead, an incredibly kind person who is merely the 2 of Hearts... yet was the one who won the last Battle Fight, even sealing THE JOKER HIMSELF.
  • Bewitched Amphibians: Category Three of Diamonds Frog Undead.
  • Bondage Is Bad: Many of them have a distinctly S & M style to their designs.
  • Complete Immortality: The Undead cannot die, only be sealed.
  • Contrasting Sequel Antagonist: To the Orphnochs, both being animal monsters that imperil innocent civilians and contain higher-class members (Lucky Clover and Royal Club Undead). Notable difference include:
    • Undeads are immortal while some of the Orphnochs feature fatal issues in exchange for their evolution rates, with only one managing to become immortal at the cost of their humanity.
    • Undeads tend to go against each other due to their perception of the Battle Fight while the Orphnochs are more unified and only go after traitors that refuse to imperil humans.
    • Regarding their higher class members, the Lucky Clover have only four positions for membership yet at least three members have been around for most of their series, yet there have been 11 Royal Clubs, and for the most part, are all never seen together, let alone the fact that none of them are around for the whole series.
  • Creepy Centipedes: Category Ten of Hearts Centipede Undead.
  • The Dragon: Tortoise Undead to Azumi, Scarab Undead to King.
  • Dreadful Dragonfly: Category Four of Hearts Dragonfly Undead.
  • Electric Jellyfish: Category Seven of Clubs Jellyfish Undead.
  • Evil vs. Evil: Being competitors of the Battle Fight, many tend to fight each other as much as they fight the Riders.
  • Flies Equals Evil: Category Six of Diamonds Fly Undead.
  • Full-Boar Action: Category Four of Spades Boar Undead.
  • Hell Hound: Artifical Undead Kerberos.
  • Hollywood Chameleons: Category Ten of Diamonds Chameleon Undead.
  • Horsing Around: Category Nine of Diamonds Zebra Undead.
  • Japanese Beetle Brothers: Category Ace of Spades Beetle Undead and Category Ace of Diamonds Stag Undead. Also Category King of Spades Caucasus Undead and Category King of Diamonds Giraffa Undead.
  • King of Beasts: Category Three of Spades Lion Undead.
  • Lethal Joke Character: Somehow, the extremely lowly Human Undead was the one that won the previous Battle Fight. What makes this even more amazing is Hajime said the Human Undead sealed him the last time. Somehow the Human Undead sealed the Joker!
  • Lizard Folk: Category Two of Spades Lizard Undead.
  • Macabre Moth Motif: Category Eight of Hearts Moth Undead.
  • The Marvelous Deer: Category Six of Spades Deer Undead.
  • Mole Miner: Category Three of Clubs Mole Undead.
  • Mythology Gag: Not only is there the Spider Undead, serving as a minor antagonist throughout the series, but the first Undead we see Garren and Blade fight is the Bat Undead. Both are references to the first Kamen Rider monsters.
  • Noble Bird of Prey: Takahara/Category Jack of Spades Eagle Undead and Category Six of Hearts Hawk Undead.
  • Non-Lethal K.O.: Undead cannot die, requiring the Kamen Riders to seal them into Rouse Cards. Future sequels completely subvert this though.
  • Our Minotaurs Are Different: Category Eight of Spades Buffalo Undead.
  • Panthera Awesome: Hikaru Jo/Category Queen of Clubs Tiger Undead and Category Nine of Spades Jaguar Undead.
  • Plant Person: Category Seven of Hearts Plant Undead and Miyuki Yoshinaga/Category Queen of Hearts Orchid Undead.
  • Prehistoric Monster: Category Seven of Spades Trilobite Undead, who is humanoid and larger than your typical trilobite.
  • Rhino Rampage: Category Four of Clubs Rhinoceros Undead.
  • Sapient Cetaceans: Category Five of Diamonds Whale Undead.
  • Scarab Power: Category Ten of Spades Scarab Undead.
  • Scary Scorpions: Category Eight of Clubs Scorpion Undead.
  • Shy Shelled Animal: Category Two of Diamonds Armadillo Undead, Category Five of Hearts Shell Undead, and Category Seven of Diamonds Tortoise Undead.
  • Slaying Mantis: Category Ace of Hearts Mantis Undead and Category King of Hearts Paradoxa Undead.
  • The Marvelous Deer: Category Six of Spades Deer Undead.
  • The Smurfette Principle: Three out of four Undead are female, all of the Category Queen. Except for the Capricorn/Queen of Spades Undead, who is male.
  • The Swarm: Category Five of Spades Locust Undead.
  • Tentacled Terror: Category Nine of Clubs Squid Undead.
  • Threatening Shark: Category Three of Hearts Hammerhead Undead.
  • Toothy Bird: Category Four of Diamonds Pecker Undead.

Category Ace

    Spider Undead

Spider Undead

Portrayed by: Katsumi Shiono (growls), Kiyoyuki Yanada (talking voice)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/spider_undead.png
The Category Ace of Clubs Undead required to be sealed for Leangle's transformation. Due to being improperly sealed, Spider ends up being a gradual corrupting influence on Mutsuki.
  • Blood Knight: The Spider Undead is this, much like the rest of his kin.
  • The Corrupter: By allowing himself to be sealed, the Spider Undead somehow caused the process to be incomplete. Thus, similar to the Human Undead, he is able to influence others with his own personality. Later subverted once properly sealed.
  • Demonic Possession: At various points, the Spider Undead has taken almost full control over Mutsuki and other hosts, causing much trouble for everyone.

    Chalice, the Mantis Undead
The Category Ace of Hearts Undead, whose card is used by Hajime to turn into his Rider form.
  • 24-Hour Armor: Supplemental material tells that his rider-like appearance comes from him wearing a suit of armor. He is never seen without said armor, however.
  • The Ace: Is dubbed "The Legendary Undead" by many of his peers for his enormous battle prowess. Oddly, this is completely subverted when unsealed by Leangle, being defeated in seconds by the Joker Undead.
  • Posthumous Character: Sort off. He was sealed before the start of the series, but his identity is still important to the story. Several undead, for example, mistake Hajime for being the actual Chalice.
  • The Worf Effect: In his only onscreen appearance, he easily gets bested by the Joker Undead.

Royal Club Undeads

    Isaka/Peacock Undead

Isaka/Peacock Undead

Portrayed by: Yasukaze Motomiya (live), Eitoku (suit)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/isaka.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/peacock_undead.png
The Category Jack of Diamonds Undead and the first of the Royal Club Undead to appear in the series.
  • Agony Beam: Isaka can torture other Undeads this way.
  • Arc Villain: From #5-15.
  • Contrasting Sequel Antagonist: To Masahiko Minami, both being shady Mad Scientist figures that experiment on others for their own gain. What separates them is that apart from Isaka not being human, he is also around for a given portion of the show's first quarter, while Minami was only around in the final stretch of his series. While defeated, both end up causing another character's gradual Face–Heel Turn.
  • Cool Shades: Sports these in human appearance. Having them taken off mean serious business for him.
  • The Corrupter: Deceives Tachibana into working for him by telling him that Schuld Kestner seaweed can eliminate fear and by soaking him in a watered glass container full of it.
  • Dark Is Evil: Wears mainly black in human form, his Undead form being black and blue, and does not hide how menacing he is.
  • Eyes Do Not Belong There: About three additional eyes in his chest area in his Undead form.
  • Fantastic Drug: His Schuld Kestner seaweed.
  • Fireballs: Can shoot plenty of blue ones either from his hand in battle or as part of a getaway.
  • Flight: Can float and stand still in midair.
  • He Knows Too Much: When Sayoko took notice of his actions, Isaka threatened her with a warning that he would end her if she kept on interfering. Sayoko continued to try to help Tachibana out of his predicament, resulting in Isaka making clear on his promise.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: His murder of Sayoko eventually resulted in Garren curb-stomping him and sealing him.
  • Irony: Spider Undead was sealed by Tachibana on the order of Isaka, who was trying to create his perfect Rider. Despite all the time and effort he has invested into creating the Leangle belt and arranging for Spider Undead to be sealed, he never got to see said Rider, let alone use him, as he was sealed by Tachibana shortly after. Still, his influence stretches much further into the story.
  • Mad Bomber: Once had his men use a timed bomb on the Jacaranda Cafe and later his first lab once he declared it to be useless.
  • Mad Scientist: If conducting experiments, creating a Rider belt, putting Tachibana in a water tank of Schuld Kestner seaweed to get him in his control, and testing Leangle's power on several teenage boys he had kidnapped are any indication.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Has manipulated Tachibana and several workers to help him in his schemes.
  • Mind Manipulation: The very workers that helped him in his schemes were revealed to be brainwashed by him and have no memory of what they were doing in #16.
  • Opportunistic Bastard: During Isaka's experiment with Kenzaki, Hajime noticing the latter's power level increasing enrages him enough to join in on the fight. When questioned, Isaka tells his men to analyze Hajime as well.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Even as the first of the Royal Clubs to sealed, his actions of finding a suitable candidate for Leangle resulted an improperly sealed Spider Undead eventually finding its way into Mutsuki and corrupting him, prompting Kenzaki and the others to struggle in trying to free him for almost the rest of the series.
  • The Sociopath: Isaka doesn't exhibit any genuine emotions, brainwashes and manipulates those he sees fit for his plans, and disposes of those who stand in the way of his schemes.
  • This Cannot Be!: Once Garren finally defeated him, also doubled as his last words.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Whether it be including teenage boys in his experiments or having a bomb blow up in the Jacaranda Cafe that might include Amane in the explosion.
    Miyuki Yoshinaga/Orchid Undead

Miyuki Yoshinaga/Orchid Undead

Portrayed by: Mika Hijii

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/miyuki_yoshinaga.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/orchid_undead.png
The Category Queen of Hearts Undead.
  • Ambiguous Situation: Whether or not Kotaro was able to move her was left uncertain, especially given her reaction before Hajime arrived at their location.
  • Arc Villain: From #20-25.
  • Backhanded Apology: Right after Daichi told her that he didn't like to fight that much and lifted up her chin, Miyuki fakes an apology for staging him before attempting to off him herself, declaring him and Hajime to be pests to her. This led to Daichi injuring her in the resulting fight.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: First introduced as a Nice Girl who ended up being Kotaro's girlfriend, but in reality was trying to lure him into a trap to kill him.
  • Contrasting Sequel Antagonist: To Saeko Kageyama/Lobster Orphnoch. Both are part of their respective monster races, are Faux Affably Evil, and for the most part, tend to smile a lot. However, Saeko has been around for most of her series, has a few of her fellow Orphnochs that actually respect her, has slight Pet the Dog moments with one of her equals, is usually more calm and soft-spoken, and in the end is mostly a Karma Houdini; Miyuki, on the other hand, was only around for 6 episodes of the series, often manipulates and/or gets despised by her fellow Undeads, is Secretly Selfish, masks a more bubbly, friendly facade in her voice, and her ultimate downfall before getting sealed was due to one of her schemes backfiring and ending in her getting injured.
  • Cute and Psycho: Very attractive and sports a seemingly gentle nature, yet masks a very cunning and menacing side to her that Yazawa even described as scary.
  • Did Not Think This Through: Miyuki lamented how foolish her idea of setting Hajime and Daichi backfired before passing out from her injury.
  • Dropped a Bridge on Her: What her final fight against Hajime resulted in: the Rider being able to easily slash her down with one attack and getting unceremoniously sealed without her getting some proper closure.
  • Enemy Mine: Attempted to help Mutsuki against a werewolf he was struggling with out of the fact that they inconvenience her, but not only did he refused, the Undead Hunters then made their presence known not long after.
  • Even Evil Can Be Loved: Despite how she treated him, Kotaro saved her and believed she can change and was extremely upset at Hajime for sealing her.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: When Kotaro saved her and hospitalized her in his car, being unable to cope with human emotion, she questioned his act of kindness, even telling her of how she treated him and that she's an Undead.
  • Evil Is Not a Toy: After seeing Daichi trounce 3 of the Riders without a flinch, Miyuki decides to lure Hajime to the pool area in hopes that the Rider gets minced by her fellow Royal Club. After Daichi knocks Hajime down, he notices Miyuki watching them, which prompts her to run away and get chased by him.
  • Faux Action Girl: While definitely not a slouch in battle, being an Undead, she doesn't seem to be able to actually win the fights she's in, often having to escape to survive.
  • Faux Affably Evil: Miyuki acts kind and gentle but deep down only cares about herself, having manipulating those into doing her dirty work and betraying/striking on whoever has their guard let down.
  • Flower Motifs: Not only is Miyuki a flower-based Undead, part of what she wears in human form have flowery designs.
  • Hoist by Her Own Petard: Lured Hajime into Daichi's location, resulting in the two fighting when her fellow Undead noticed her watching them. When Daichi confronted her of her action, stating it very clear to her that he didn't like to fight much, she feigned an apology to him in order to let his guard down, but he eventually overpowered her and she was left injured.
  • It's All About Me: Miyuki only cares about herself and her chances of being the last standing Undead, even stating that her setting up Hajime and Daichi to fight each other was to ensure that she would take their powers once they both fell.
  • Light Is Not Good: Wears bright clothing and has a flowery theme, yet her manipulative nature says otherwise about her.
  • Manipulative Bitch: She often makes others who she alliances with to do her dirty work and feigns being kind towards Kotaro and later Mutsuki.
  • Perpetual Smiler: Has a cheery, sweet demeanor and usually smiles a lot even when she's manipulative.
  • Slasher Smile: Had one upon having an idea of having Hajime and Daichi fight each other in an attempt to either get the Rider out of the way or take both of their powers.
  • The Sociopath: For her seemingly gentle nature, Miyuki is shown to be very manipulative and selfish, even attempting to kill the one person who loved her and hospitalize her injuries twice.
  • Technopath: Jammed the signals of the Undead Searcher when Kotaro allowed her to use it.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Knocked Kotaro out once Chalice finds her, with Miyuki assuming her Undead form to fight him while she was still recovering from her injuries from Daichi. Thus, Hajime was able to easily curp-stomp her and seal her in spite of Kotaro's objections. Honestly, had she not engaged in battle at that point, she would've lasted longer in the modern Battle Fight.
  • Ungrateful Bitch: Miyuki's response to Kotaro hospitalizing her injuries? She inconspiciously tried to strangle him to death, but Hajime arrival made her knock him unconscious instead.
  • Villain Has a Point:
    • When Takahara chastised her for attacking Chalice, Miyuki then replies if he was sure that the Chalice he encountered was the same one he knew (i.e. Mantis). Sure enough, Takahara eventually realized his mistake via the different buckles.
    • As ungrateful and bewildered as she was at the moment, Miyuki did point out to Kotaro when he decided to let her go on the grounds that she stops imperiling innocents that she's an Undead and that meant that she has no guarantee of fulfilling that promise.
    Yazawa/Capricorn Undead

Yazawa/Capricorn Undead

Portrayed by: Atsushi Korechika

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yazawa.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/capricorn_undead.png
The Category Queen of Spades Undead.
  • Affably Evil: While genuinely evil, he acts somewhat laid-back and chill with Kenzaki.
  • Cool Shades: Sports small circular ones in human form.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Downplayed. Yazawa complained about Miyuki's cunning nature while he was enraged about her not helping him in the chance to finish off Blade but still continued to help her after being told of Kenzaki's soft heart with Kotaro.
  • Evil Is Hammy: And how, ranging from his howling to some of his physical mannerisms.
  • Extreme Omni-Goat: His animal motif and is a rather rash Undead.
  • Fireballs: Can shout some from his mouth.
  • Smug Snake: Told Kenzaki that he was a Royal Club, signifying being much stronger, yet that first fight ended in Kenzaki wounding him on his left arm.
  • The One Guy: The only male Queen Undead.
  • Villainous Breakdown: After Blade managed to wound him, Yazawa felt humiliated from the injury and started screaming and kicking down objects.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Gets treated as a Monster of the Week that last for two episodes despite being a Royal Club.
    Takahara/Eagle Undead

Takahara/Eagle Undead

Portrayed by: Yasufumi Hayashi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/takahara.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eagle_undead.png
The Category Jack of Spades Undead.
  • Evil Genius: His analytical personality and appearance notates this.
  • Fair-Play Villain: Believes that all creatures have an equal chance to see who is superior.
  • Flight: Befitting his animal motif, Takahara can actually use his wings to fly places.
  • Foreshadowing: His last words somewhat end up being this, especially with how the show's final battle ended up being Kenzaki fighting Hajime.
  • Mistaken Identity: Mistook Hajime for Mantis, which in the end, doubles as his Fatal Flaw, upon realizing last minute that the buckles were different.
  • The Promise: Had a promise between himself and Chalice that they would be the last two Undead standing, even saving Hajime from danger. Once he realized that Hajime's Rider appearance was his sealed comrade's apperance, he started attacking him and when asked after being defeated, he stated that the promise was for him and Mantis to fight each other for last right before turning back into his Undead appearance to be sealed.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Like Yazawa, he only lasted in the two episodes he appeared in.
    Shinmei/Wolf Undead

Shinmei/Wolf Undead

Portrayed by: Masashi Kagami

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shinmei.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wolf_undead.png
The Category Jack of Hearts Undead, proclaiming himself to be an "Undead Hunter".
  • Ax-Crazy: Shinmei has a rather feral and mangy personality, very much fitting his Undead form.
  • Badass Biker: Shown to be a very excellent motorcyclist when riding the Black Fang.
  • Broken Pedestal: Kenzaki, Tachibana, and the rest of the Undead Hunters looked up to him as an esteemed leader with how he claimed to wishing to restore BOARD. Shinmei revealing his true colors to the two Riders led to them being outright furious at him for using them.
  • Evil Laugh: After Tachibana ousted him in his true nature and goals.
  • He Knows Too Much: Attempted to dispose of Miyuki for meddling in his affairs, even refusing to alliance with her when she offered him, only to stop once Daichi noticed their squabble and went right up to them.
  • Idiot Ball: Had Shinmei not attempted to maim Kenzaki behind his back after the latter complimented him, then he wouldn't have been exposed by Tachibana.
  • I Lied: Called himself an Undead Hunter who takes down the mysterious werewolves and asked Kenzaki, Tachibana and his fellow Undead Hunters to help him with finishing the Black Fang. Once it was finished, Shinmei promptly used it to finish off his own men, with Kenzaki and Tachibana enraged for Shinmei's actions towards them, especially since he was the one who turned many of his victims into those werewolves.
  • Kick the Dog: Cruelly gloats to and laughs at Kenzaki and Tachibana for thinking they could restore BOARD.
  • Mask of Sanity: As part of the Undead Hunters, Shinmei acts like a serious, focused squad leader claiming to protect innocents with his guns. Once his cover was blown, however, he proved to quite a maniacal individual.
  • Mole in Charge: Infitrated human society and started the Undead Hunters for his schemes.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: In a way, by having his Undead Hunters target Miyuki, Shinmei somewhat indirectly pressed a series of events that ended in the downfalls of not only the latter, but also Daichi's.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Has the same two-episode deal Yazawa and Takahara had.
    Daichi/Elephant Undead

Daichi/Elephant Undead

Portrayed by: Kairi Narita

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/daichi_44.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/elephant_undead.png
The Category Jack of Clubs Undead.
  • Affably Evil: Daichi acts pacifistic and doesn't really wish to fight much. When Mutsuki told him to show his true from, Daichi reluctantly stated he had no choice but to do so, even keeping that same chagrin when he meets Hajime.
  • Berserk Button: Never force him in a position to where he has to actually fight.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: Is a very powerful fighter but usually is laid back and only fights back when he knows his opponent's limits.
  • The Brute: Is extremely powerful in battle and uses maces to fight back.
  • Bullying the Dragon: Even though he makes it clear of his disinterest in fighting, any of the Riders in his vicinity at the time still try to battle and seal him to dismay, usually ending in a Curb-Stomp Battle in Daichi's favor. This led to Daichi envisioning a mirage that he could defeat all four of them after finding out that Hajime is the Joker and causing a rampage on public property that ended in his sealing.
  • Climax Boss: When properly enraged, Daichi is a very ferocious opponent and gave the Riders a very hard time when he fought them. It took Shima's arrival and him giving Kenzaki his Rouse Absorber for Daichi to be defeated and sealed.
  • The Dog Bites Back: Daichi did not take Miyuki's chicanery very well. Him confronting her for this act led to a fight between the two and with his mighty power, Daichi ended up injuring Miyuki, and had it not been for Hajime getting in the way, would've dealt much more deeper blows to her.
  • The Dreaded: Miyuki and Shinmei somewhat fear Daichi due to his immense strength, to the point where the two stop their conflict and try to reason with him at first before three of the Riders arrive.
  • Epic Flail: Another weapon he uses in battle.
  • Force Field: Had an electrical one with one of his fights with Hajime under a staired tunnel to ensure no interruptions.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: In #26, while in a pool, he envisioned himself defeating the four Riders and started attacking in order to get their attention but Shima's assistance in the battle ended with Blade in Jack Form dealing and sealing Daichi.
  • Honorable Elephant: His animal motif, with elephant skulls as his shoulders, and is usually laid back and pacifistic.
  • The Bus Came Back: Briefly unsealed by Mutsuki in #45 to help him against Kerberos, only to be resealed again.
  • Unwitting Pawn: To Miyuki, being used by her to either finish Hajime for her or have him and the Rider dealing fatal blows to each other so she would end up taking their powers for herself.
    Noboru Shima/Tarantula Undead

Noboru Shima/Tarantula Undead

Portrayed by: Kazunari Aizawa

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/noboru_shima.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tarantula_undead.png
The Category King of Clubs Undead and an old friend of Karasuma in Tibet.
  • Blow You Away: Can sense others' auras from the wind and has a few other wind-related abilities.
  • Empathy Pet: Owns a yellow canary bird named Natural.
  • Graceful Loser: He allowed Mutsuki to seal him away, while also questioning the former if he wanted world peace and to fight for justice.
    • He is this as a whole, as despite not winning the previous Battle Fight, he cherishes life beyond just his descendants.
  • In the Back: Shot Kenzaki because he didn't want the Rider to make him miss his chance of being sealed by Mutsuki.
  • Irony: Shima's associated animal species are tarantulas, yet is the nicest of the Royal Clubs, especially in contrast to Isaka being associated with peacocks and Miyuki with orchids.
  • Loved by All: Most of the main characters that had met him like him to some degree for his kindness and desire for peace, to the point where Kenzaki and a few of the others got upset after he got sealed.
  • Mentor Archetype: To the main gang during his tenure.
  • Nice Guy: A wise, pacifistic individual who values human compassion and peace.
  • The Power of Love: Upon his awareness of Nozomi, Shima's attempts of snapping Mutsuki to his senses involves a wind ball that conveyed Nozomi's feelings of the lad.
  • Spanner in the Works: Karasuma entrusted him the Rouze Absorber, which he later gave to Kenzaki for him to use Jack Form to defeat and seal Daichi. Shima even got himself intentionally struck by Mutsuki to get sealed by him in order to undo Spider's corruption of him. Of course while he was sealed, it didn't have any effect of freeing Mutsuki from Spider's control until Hikaru also got sealed.
  • The Bus Came Back: Appeared in Mutsuki's subconscious in #42 to help him defeat Spider.
  • Token Good Teammate: The most pacifistic and friendly of the Royal Clubs, wanting peace for humanity and Earth.
  • Was It All a Lie?: Once they found out that he was an Undead, Kenzaki berated him for supposedly lying to them about himself and his intentions, only for Shima to rebuke that and state that he meant every word of what he confessed to them.
    Azumi/Serpent Undead

Azumi/Serpent Undead

Portrayed by: Mio Fukuzumi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/azumi_7.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/serpent_undead.png
The Category Queen of Diamonds Undead.
  • Evil Laugh: Much of her screentime has her doing this and does this much more than the other Undead.
  • Filler Villain: Her duration in the show was during a Breather Arc of Hajime's amnesia and meeting his lookalike who is a takoyaki maker.
  • Medusa: Her Undead appearance pretty much has that resemblance.
  • Not in the Face!: Ryo ended using a taiyaki plate while it was hot and slammed it on her face while she was in Undead form, causing Azumi to writhe in pain.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Yet another Royal Club Undead that lasts unsealed for two episodes.
    King/Caucasus Undead

King/Caucasus Undead

Portrayed by: Makoto Kamijo

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/king_19.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/caucasus_undead.png
The Category King of Spades Undead.
  • Arc Villain: From #31-34.
  • BFS: Wields a powerful sword in battle, which Kenzaki later broke in his final battle against him and used the broken part to slash him.
  • Blackmail: King attempted to post Hajime's Rider identity to Haruka and Amane if he didn't show him his Joker form.
  • Contrasting Sequel Antagonist: Being an amusement-seeking teenage(-looking) villain, King is one to Jun Shibaura/Kamen Rider Gai. Apart from the fact that Jun is a Rider while King is a higher class monster, what contrasts them is that Shibaura's amusement comes from manipulating his fellow Riders and once taking over ORE Journal while mistreating the staff, whereas King's involves taking pictures on his phone while making fake gossip to ruin the reputations of his victims.
  • The GM Is a Cheating Bastard: Had the Scarab Undead pause time on his opposition so he can either escape or fight back.
  • It Amused Me: Enjoys causing trouble and messing with others with his phone. In general, King messes up a lot of stuff to provide amusement to himself. Even when King "saved" Nozomi from some thugs, Kenzaki pointed out that it wasn't from any altruism whatsoever.
  • Irony: Despite his immense powers, Kenzaki/Blade ultimately defeats King without any powerups whatsoever. It's actually fitting, since it showed how much the former has matured as a fighter.
  • Jacob Marley Warning: Before being sealed, he smugly warns Kenzaki to be careful or he would end up controlling him like what happened with Mutsuki.
  • Jerkass: Does not hesitate to show how smug and unrepentant he is with his misdeeds with a smile on his face.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: His demented take of amusement by messing with others bites him back when the same method was used against him in front of a crowd.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Despite his childish attitude, he is physically the strongest Undead among the Category Ace, being able to easily overpower Blade in Jack Form.
  • Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: Has a shield he can use in battle, which is invisible whenever he's in human form.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Only lasted onscreen for four episodes and yet King managed to inflict enough damage control by confiscating most of Hajime's cards from him and later giving them to Mutsuki, indirectly leading to a series of events that has Hajime losing control as the Joker.
  • The Sociopath: King takes great pleasure and amusement to mess with others to incite more enjoyment onto himself. No matter what false claims he has such as "protecting" Nozomi or that he doesn't wish to fight the other Undeads, it gets made very clear that he treats these all as a game to him. There's also the fact that he has no consideration his victims' feelings and how he claimed his messes would have him damage the world.
  • Sore Loser: Is this towards Kenzaki once defeated.
  • Technopath: Is very skilled with cellular photography and uses his pictures to post under his false gossiping.
  • Teens Are Monsters: King assumes the appearance of a teenage boy and enjoys ruining others' lives by his slandering.
    Hikaru Jo/Tiger Undead

Hikaru Jo/Tiger Undead

Portrayed by: Akane Hamasaki

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tiger_undead.png
The Category Queen Of Clubs Undead.
  • Bullying the Dragon: Like Daichi, Hikaru ended up on the receiving end of this by Kenzaki, who wasn't aware of her prowess at the time.
  • Dark Action Girl: A female Undead who is a very powerful fighter.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Sometimes, Hikaru would make fun of or mock Mutsuki whenever she has the chance.
  • The Dragon: Undeads generally act independent and fight each other for the dominance of their species, a fact that shows Hikaru's great devotion to the Stone of Sealing, thus making her an odd take of this trope, wanting the Battle Fight to go on so she can win nobly.
  • Foil: To Miyuki. While both are Category Queen Undeads and had their injuries tended to, Hikaru is a fierce fighter who despises underhanded methods, grew to care for Mutsuki, and ultimately redeems herself; Miyuki pretends to act nice but is a cunning manipulator, mistreated the one person who was nice to her, and only slightly redeemed herself in the end.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Helps the heroes and Nozomi by allowing Mutsuki to seal her away. Once combined with Shima's powers, Mutsuki becomes freed from the Spider Undead's influence.
  • Love Redeems: Of the platonic kind. She ends up helping Mutsuki be freed from the Spider Undead's influence, while also encouraging him to move past his trauma.
  • Noble Demon: Possesses great pride and fights with dignity, and is usually a more honorable fighter.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Becomes extremely ecstatic and enraged upon learning that the Battle Fight happening in modern times was fake. This is what makes her decide to help Mutsuki.
  • Villainous Friendship: Spends half of her screentime on the show with the corrupted Mutsuki, with him even offering her an onigiri.
  • Was It All a Lie?: Her reaction from learning from Kanai and Tennoji of the Battle Fight being fake.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Unflinchingly berated Kenzaki for the fact that assuming King Form was what got Hajime forced back into being the Joker.
    Kanai/Giraffa Undead

Kanai/Giraffa Undead

Portrayed by: Akira Kubodera

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/giraffa_undead.png
The Category King of Diamonds Undead, the last of the Royal Club Undead to appear in the series, and the first to learn the truth of the Battle Fight.
  • Anti-Villain: The first to find out that the Battle Fight is fake and while he manipulated the Riders in him being among the last standing Undead, even he doesn't want Joker to be the winner and destroy the planet.
  • The Chessmaster: After discovering Tennoji rigged the Battle Fight from the start, Kanai used the Riders to defeat him so he could seize the Kerberos card for himself and use it to come out the victor.
  • Evil Genius: Made evident with the glasses, calm personality, and pragmatic manipulations.
  • Genius Bruiser: Like the rest of the Category Kings, he is this. Notably, he even managed to hold his own against Hajime as WILD CHALICE.
  • Insistent Terminology: His ideal version of peace is where there are no humans around.
  • Interim Villain: After Tennoji was dealt with, he served as the villain in between him and the Joker Undead.
  • Pay Evil unto Evil: Smugly told Tennoji that the one being "sealed" was him before mortally wounding him on his face.
  • Redemption Rejection: When Mutsuki asks him for the possibility of him coexisting with humans, Kanai brushes it off.
  • The Starscream: Kills Tennoji off after deciding to be the last Undead remaining in the Battle Fight, manipulating the Riders to defeat him.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Even though Mutsuki saved him from Tennoji, Kanai never truly felt gratitude for this, only faking it to manipulate the Kamen Riders.

Category 2-10 Undeads

    Human Undead

Portrayed by: Ryoji Morimoto

Category 2 of Hearts. The winner of the previous Battle Fight and thus the originator of mankind.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Purposefully allowed himself to be sealed by Joker, in order to influence him from the inside
  • Humanity Is Infectious: Uses this trope against Joker Undead, as his influence causes Joker to learn empathy and thus curb his bloodlust.
  • Humans Are Special: Is the winner of the previous Battle Fight, despite the competitors representing several dangerous animals, such as tigers, scorpions and bears.
  • Posthumous Character: Is sealed before the start of the show, but his presence has major influence on the setting. For example, winning the previous Battle Fight caused humanity to flourish and become Earth's dominant species. His form is also used the Joker Undead to assume the identity of Aikawa Hajime.
  • Riddle for the Ages:
    • It is unrevealed whether he was sealed after the previous Battle Fight, or if he co-existed with his descendants over ages.
    • It is also unknown what his abilities as an Undead are, barring immense intelligence.
    • Furthermore, considering how Hajime is barely able to hold his own against other Undeads while in his human form, it is questionable how the Human Undead could ever defeat the Joker Undead and win the Battle Fight.

Artificial Undeads

    Trial Series

Trial Series

Voiced by: Junichi Haruta (Trial B), Yuki Anai (Trial D), Kousei Amano (Trial E), Katsumi Shiono (Trial F), Takahiro Hojo (Trial G)

A series of artificial Undeads created by BOARD by combining human and Undead DNA with machinery. Their purpose is to remove potential threats from the Battle Fight that could interfere with Tennoji's endgame.
  • Brain Uploading: Trial B was programmed with the memories of its creator, Yoshito Hirose, so he could protect Shiori even after his death.
  • Cyber Cyclops: Trial B has only a single eye in the center of its head.
  • Evil Counterpart: Each of them (except for Trial B) were modeled after data on the fighting style of one of the Riders.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: All of them were created from mixing human DNA together with Undead DNA and robotics.
  • Skeletons in the Coat Closet: Trial G has a skull for a head.
    Titan Undead

Another artificial Undead created by BOARD, this time by combining two sealed Undeads: The Scorpion Undead and Chameleon Undead.
  • All Your Powers Combined: Possesses the poison ability of the Scorpion Undead with the Chameleon Undead's invisibility and shapeshifting abilities.
  • Divide and Conquer: The purpose of the Titan Undead was to get the Riders to fight among each other so they'd be distracted from realizing the truth behind the fake Battle Fight.
  • Evil Knockoff: Transforms into a copy of Leangle in order to fool the Riders.
  • Hollywood Chameleon: As is typical for a chameleon monster it can turn invisible.
  • Hybrid Monster: Was created by fusing two sealed Undeads together, having the buckles of both on its body.
  • Mythology Gag: An apparent homage to Gelshocker, whose monsters are composites of two animals.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Titan stinging Mutsuki resulted not only in the latter becoming feral and gradually losing himself to Spider, but also gave Hikaru the opportunity to get herself sealed by the Rider so the lad could have the courage to finally be set free and properly defeat and seal Spider.
  • Shapeshifter: Can imitate the forms of all four Riders, in and out of their suits as well as their weapons and bikes, and even takes tries to fool them into believing it's Amane.
    Kerberos

Kerberos

Voiced by: Katsumi Shiono

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/krbl_kerberos_undead.png
An artificial Category Ace Undead created by Hiroshi Tennoji from the DNA of all of the Undead. In The Missing Ace, Kerberos is required to be sealed for Glaive's transformation with copies utilized by Larc and Lance.
  • All Your Powers Combined: Possesses the DNA of all the Undead.
  • Evil Is Not a Toy: It's first action upon being created is to kill the scientists that just finished making it.
  • Fusion Dance: After having the Riders seal Kerberos from him, Tennoji uses the Kerberos Rouze Card to fuse with his creation and become Kerberos II to win the Battle Fight himself.
  • Hell Hound: Clearly modeled after one, as it possesses two extra heads on its shoulders and its name is a corruption of "Cerberus".
  • Story-Breaker Power: Possesses powers far beyond that of other Undeads, to the extent of being a tough opponent for Blade in King Form. This was deliberately invoked its creator, as the purpose behind Kerberos was to rig the Battle Fight so he would win.
  • World's Strongest Man: Barring Kenzaki/Blade, the Kerberos Undead is the most formidable fighter in-series, exceeding the prowess of all other Undeads.

Beings associated with the Undead

    Stone of Sealing

Stone of Sealing

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/stone_of_sealing_1.jpg
An ancient black slab which is used by the "Master" to connect with the mortal realm. It also created the Undead for the Battle Fight 10,000 years ago.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: It created the Undead and set up the Battle Fight, but is distant from the overall conflict while the plot is about dealing with its creations.
  • Restart the World: Once the Joker Undead is the last Undead standing, the Stone begins deploying Darkroaches to destroy all life on Earth so the cycle can begin anew.
  • Shout-Out: It greatly resembles the Monoliths from 2001: A Space Odyssey in it's role of setting up life in prehistory and appearance especially when it appears to seal a defeated Undead.
