The Guild

    Ouranos

Ouranos

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/uranus_zenshin.png
Voiced by: Tōru Ōkawa (JP), Marty Fleck (EN) Foreign VAs

A god that controls the adventurer's Guild. The first god to descend to Gekai and offer blessings, his prayers are responsible for keeping the Dungeon in check.

  • Adaptational Heroism: In the original myths Ouranos was an evil tyrant.
  • Big Good: He leads the Guild, which is responsible for keeping order in Orario. However, there is an agreement that the Guild must not become another Familia, and thus Ouranos doesn't seem to have much power. In his own words, he rules, but he does not govern. As the story progresses it becomes apparent that Ouranos has a much greater role within the Guild then he first appears to. He assists Loki Familia in their hunt for Enyo, and protects the Xenos.
  • Inconsistent Spelling: The dub credits on HiDive spell his name as "Uranus" much like the planet named after the original Titan.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: His assurance alone that his prayers will keep monsters from invading Orario is enough to calm Royman down when all hell is breaking loose. He ultimately ends up bending, if not breaking, the agreement he had made with the Guild to be strictly neutral in the affairs between Familias, but he does this in the best interest of everyone.
  • The Omniscient Council of Vagueness: During that brief period where we know that they're doing something behind the scenes but the main characters aren't directly involved. After that, we know that they're working to fight threats within the dungeon and protect the Xenos, but the protagonists are still on a need to know basis, so this might not be the only thing they're hiding.

    Fels

Fels

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fels.png
Voiced by: Mikako Komatsu (JP), David Matranga (EN) Foreign VAs

A mysterious mage who is affiliated with Ouranos.

  • Ambiguous Gender: It's not clearly exactly what gender Fels is given the cloak that he's wearing. Turns out Fels is just a living skeleton. There's no way of knowing whether Fels was a man or a woman before being reduced to bones.
  • The Archmage: Was once the Sage, and thus one of the greatest mages ever.
  • Black Cloak: Fels' standard form of attire. This helps mask the fact that they are an undead sorcerer.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Fels is first seen in a dark cloak which masks his identity, and his appearance under it is frightening. However, as he's allied with the Guild, he's one of the good guys.
  • Fountain of Youth: Upon being sucked into the dream world during Nightmare Academia, Fels gets turned into a little girl.
  • Head Bob: As Fels’ face is always obscured along with lacking an emotable face, Fels tends to use these to convey surprise.
  • Mysterious Backer: Fels serve this role for the main characters at first, being genuinely benevolent, but limited by the non-interference clause imposed on Ouranos. As a result, Fels must keep all activities a secret, even after revealing allegiance and motives.
  • Our Liches Are Different: He was once the Sage who created the Philosopher's Stone, which granted him immortality. However, it turned him into a monster. Underneath his robes, he is actually a skeleton.
  • Walking Spoiler: Even putting Fels in this folder is a bit of a spoiler, since in the beginning Fels seems to be an antagonist.

    Royman Mardeel

Royman Mardeel

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mpv_shot0009.jpg
Voiced by: Ryo Sugisaki (JP), Mark Mendelsohn (EN)

The leader of the Guild and de-facto ruler of Orario.
  • Atrocious Alias: He is derogatorily called "The Guild Pig" for being fat which is highly unusual for elves.
  • Gonk: He's rather short by elf standards and years of good living have made him rather portly, to the point he is called "The Guild Pig". This is noted to be extremely unusual for an elf. In each volume, when he is introduced, we hear this... again and again.
  • The Hedonist: This is responsible for Royman's appearance, or maybe it is because of Post-Stress Overeating.
  • Obstructive Bureaucrat: Despite Eina calling on him to step in, he just sits on his ass while the Apollo Familia are attacking Bell and Hestia in broad daylight.
  • Pointy Ears: Since he's an elf, his ears are long and pointy.

    Eina Tulle

Eina Tulle

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eina_tulle_danmachi.png
Voiced by: Haruka Tomatsu (JP), Shelby Blocker (EN) Foreign VAs

The half-elf receptionist of the Dungeon Guild.

Eina acts as Bell's advisor who looks out for his well-being when it comes to his adventures in the dungeon. She starts to become concerned upon realizing that he is leveling up quicker than normal.

  • Affectionate Gesture to the Head: She loves bopping Bell on the nose as a sign of her affection.
  • Cool Big Sis: Is this towards Bell, constantly watching out for his well-being.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: She's an elf-human hybrid.
  • Marshmallow Hell: Even Eina does this to Bell when they go out shopping.
  • Ms. Exposition: Her job as a Guild worker is to advise newbie adventurers like Bell and educate them on the dangers of the dungeon to improve their chances of survival. This involves explaining concepts to Bell and by extension the viewer.
  • Older Than They Look: She plays the part of a mature office lady while working at the guild, but she teasingly points out that she looks younger in her casual clothes as Bell gawks at her.
  • Pointy Ears: She has pointed ears because she's a half-elf.
  • Sexy Mentor: She serves as an adviser and mentor for Bell. Eina has an unprofessional tendency to get attached to her pupils, though, unusual among Guild receptionists (who know the downsides of loving someone that could die any day now.) She seems to harbor feelings for Bell and is not above flirtatiously teasing him.
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: After being free from Freya's brainwashing that made her forget Bell, she immediately heads to the Freya familia to rescue him, completely uncaring of a potential civil war.
  • She Cleans Up Nicely: She's already fairly pretty in her usual appearance, but she's a whole deal more attractive when she's out of her work clothes and having her glasses off.

    Misha Flot
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/misha_flot.png
Voiced by: Chinami Hashimoto (JP), Kelley Peters (EN) Foreign VAs

A pink-haired human worker of Guild.

    Rose Fannett
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rose_fannett.jpg

A werewolf receptionist of Guild.

  • Little Bit Beastly: Like with Bete, she is a werewolf who looks like a human woman with wolf ears and a tail.

Hostess of Fertility

    Mia Grand

Mia Grand

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mia_grand.png
Voiced by: Yuka Keichou (JP), Brenda Valdevia (EN) Foreign VAs

The owner of the pub.

Mia is a retired dwarf adventurer, and chooses only to hire women to work at her establishment. She also has a soft-spot for Bell due to knowing that one of her employees likes him.

  • Apron Matron: She rules the Pub with an iron fist (literally). She's also a Large Ham with a personality and presence that no one would dare to mess with her, and would personally take on an entire familia if someone messes with her employee.
  • Big Beautiful Woman: She's quite curvaceous despite being fairly chubby.
  • Chef of Iron: A powerful ex-adventurer on top of being a skilled chef whose pub is among the most popular in all of Orario.
  • Declaration of Protection: Deliver one at the end of Episode Lyu:
Mia: I'm not only your master, but also your 'Mother', and that makes you my 'Daughter'. Everything in this pub belongs to me, and I'm not going let any idiots to have any funny idea with my property.
  • Large and in Charge: A good six feet tall and a bit on the chubby side. No one dares to mess with her.
  • Our Dwarves Are All the Same: She's an extremely burly bartender who is a former adventurer, but at 180cm, she's taller than many female humans in the story, much less dwarves. Particularly strange given that Gareth, the other major Dwarf character, plays this straight (he's 151cm tall, or just below 5 feet. 170cm, roughly average height for a Japanese man, is explicitly noted to be tall for a dwarf, so dwarves are shorter than average.
  • Red Baron: Retired or not, as expected she has a well known title. Demi Ymir, the Little Giant.
  • Retired Badass: She makes it quite clear who is in charge of her pub, able to casually split a table in two with a single blow while reminding troublemakers to pay their tab. She used to be the Level 6 Captain of the Freya Familia, the same position that Finn holds in the Loki Familia.
  • Shockingly Expensive Bill: How she gets her employees, not that she cares if they could ever pay it off.
  • Stout Strength: Mia's somewhat chubby-looking, but that dwarf biology seems to come with dwarf strength, as seen when she destroys one of the tables to stop a Bar Brawl.
  • Saloon Owner: Owner of the Hostess of Fertility.
  • Supreme Chef: Her food is considered delicious by all of her patrons, to the point that even elite familia like the Loki Familia frequent it.

    Syr Flover

Syr Flover

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/syr_flover_danmachi.png
Voiced by: Shizuka Ishigami (JP), Juliet Simmons (EN) Foreign VAs

A waitress working at the pub.

Syr has a crush on Bell, and provides him with supplies for his trips to the dungeon.

  • Becoming the Mask: A variant, as after the Freya Familia is disbanded in a War Game and absorbed into the Hestia Familia, Freya chooses to forsake her goddess identity and become Syr full-time.
  • Beware the Nice Ones:
    • Her whisper to Liliruca after the latter gets caught holding stolen property shows that she clearly has a dark side underneath her harmless maid persona. In the novels, she even gives a potent glare to Mia when she wouldn't let her take a day off to hang out with Bell. Not that it worked, but having the guts to do that against someone who can intimidate high-level adventurers is impressive.
    • The other girls at the pub have even said on more than one occasion that Syr "is a witch"; not maliciously, but in her many abilities that she uses to her advantage.
    • When Hermes asks Mia about sending a message to Freya, Syr asks him why Bell was also in the Pleasure District. Though she does nothing more than ask him that, the aura she's giving off at that moment scares him.
  • Born Lucky: Invoked, she somehow seemed to gain this trait from Bell after touching his hand.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl:
    • Though subtle, Syr is visibly shocked when Bell excitedly holds Lyu's hand after she shows him the knife they recovered from Liliruca but he thought he dropped in the dungeon. Lyu at least tries to tell Bell to say and do this to Syr.
    • At one point she manipulates Bell into giving her a lap pillow, and later goes on to brag about it to Ais, who goes through a variety of emotions throughout the conversation. She likely did so, knowing about Bell's infatuation with the girl.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Underestimating Syr will be the last mistake you ever make. She's yet to get into a proper fight, but her badassness comes from her ability to persuade and dissuade others in situations that always gets her on top.
  • Crush Blush: Shows several towards and regarding Bell.
  • Foreshadowing: There are several hints to Syr's real identity as Freya's human disguise.
    • In Norse mythology, Syr is one of Freya's aliases.
    • Syr and Freya are both Lethal Chefs.
    • She's Older Than They Look, which is also true for the Gods in the setting.
    • They both have similar eye and hair colors.
  • God Was My Copilot: The seemingly normal waitress Syr is Freya's human disguise that she uses to get close to Bell and secretly assist in his rapid growth in power.
  • Guile Hero: She may not be one for actual action like Ryuu, but her ability to read people and her overall incredible skill at poker was vital for them rescuing Anna.
  • Hidden Depths:
    • She has the connections necessary to obtain a falsified invite to a prestigious and exclusive casino, the acting skills to put up a convincing ruse, and the ability to charm several male gods to help sell the ruse. Even Lyu was shocked by the first part alone.
    • She's also very good at reading people, to the point that was able to unnerve some slavers in a poker game, and her own colleagues say it's like she knows every move they'll make in a poker game. While explaining her ability to read people to said slavers, she brings up a certain goddess'note  similar ability to read people.
  • Horrifying the Horror: She manages to make Hermes sweat bullets after poking holes in his story of Bell being in trouble, leading a flustered Hermes to tell her she shouldn't go around scaring gods. Bonus points she does all this with a sweet smile on her face.
  • Inconsistent Spelling: Seal or Syr? The latter is an alias once used by Freya in Norse mythology, which foreshadows her true identity as Freya herself.
  • Lethal Chef: The Drama CD goes even says her food is more likely to knock out a Level 4 adventurer than be edible. So far, Bell is the only one who can eat her cooking without adverse side effects. One has to wonder how Bell managed to acquire his Abnormal Resistance skill...
  • Mama Bear: Displays this during the Holiday campaign Winter Magic Miracle from Memoria Freese when Noelle goes missing.
  • Meido: Her job at the pub.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity:
    • Syr acts like a sweet yet somewhat ditzy girl, but once you believe it, you've fallen into her trap. She's surprisingly manipulative and devious for what her personality and sweet looks imply.
    • In her "Grand Casino" mission, she's able to play, basically bankrupt, and completely destroy the richest men at her poker table... and they were working together!
  • Older Than They Look: Shockingly enough, she appears during the events of Astraea Record seven years before the main story looking no older or younger than she does in the present despite being officially 18.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: She's the perky and sociable Red to Lyu's cool and reserved Blue.
  • Religious and Mythological Theme Naming: Syr is one of Freya's aliases in Norse mythology. This is a major hint as Syr is indeed Freya's disguise.
  • Sexy Backless Outfit: Her Pure Bride attire from Memoria Freese shows off the back of her body's upper half.
  • Super Power Lottery: Invoked, does Syr truly have powers like her co-workers imply, or is she just "observant" as she claims? Either way, Syr has demonstrated a laundry list of "abilities" that even Lyu is amazed by.
    • Syr appeared to have "borrowed" Bell's Born Lucky abilities just by touching his hand. How that is even possible wasn't explained at the time.
    • During a poker game, she can determine what a player's hand is by reading their eyes and easily manipulate the game into her favor.
    • There are multiple moments where Syr whispers into people's ears, causing them to panic and go into a fear-induced stupor.
  • Through His Stomach: She consistently provides Bell with lunches for his dungeon expeditions. The problem is her cooking is abysmal.
  • Two Aliases, One Character: Syr is actually Freya when she takes the form of a girl in her familia who made a magic pact with her in the past. Freya uses her Syr identity mainly to get close to Bell without anyone suspecting anything.
  • Walking Spoiler: It's made painfully clear that there's more to Syr than meets the eye. Freya calls Syr her "Important Daughter", and she just so happens to find a priceless grimoire lying around that she hands to Bell not long after Freya becomes infatuated with him.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: A minor one and Played for Laughs when she brings Bell back to the diner to have him do the dishes she neglected to do. This does at least give him an opportunity to talk to Lyu a little bit about adventuring and how to become stronger.

    Ryuu Lyon

Ryuu Lyon

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lyu_lyon.png
Voiced by: Saori Hayami (JP), Genevieve Simmons (EN) Foreign VAs

Introduced as an elf who works as a waitress at the Hostess of Fertility who is best friends with Syr. It's later revealed she is a former adventurer and quite an experienced one.

  • Action Girl: Quite a capable fighter, particularly after Bell finds out she used to be an adventurer just like him. According to the author, if she had continued being an Adventurer, she would have reached Level 6 around the same time as Ais, one of the most talented adventurers in the series.
  • Adaptational Badass: In the light novel, she single-handedly takes on a third of Apollo Familia – that's a little over 30 members – holding them off while Bell hunts down Hyacinth. In the anime, she takes on, and defeats, half of them all by herself.
  • Almighty Janitor: While she usually works as a waitress, she's actually an incredibly powerful adventurer.
  • Badass Boast: Delivers one as it relates to the following trope.
Ryuu: I'm afraid I have more important concerns than my race's hatred [toward the Crozzos]. If helping a friend is shameful, then I'll be as shameful as I have to be!
  • Batman Grabs a Gun: Despite the fact that the Crozzo family's weapons devastated the Elven homelands, she gladly takes up and uses Welf's swords to help Bell in book 6. An Elf in the Apollo Familia even tries to call her out on it.
  • Berserk Button:
    • Do not ever mention "The Lion of the Gale" around her. She goes into a murderous rage that terrifies level 4 adventurers.
    • Everything involving Evilus and the destruction of the Astraea Familia will quickly earn her attention and anger.
  • Beware the Quiet Ones: She will beat up anyone who tries to harass her with a mug, and she is utterly ruthless when it comes to Evilus.
  • Beyond the Impossible: In a world where getting to Level 2 is next to impossible for most normal Adventurers, Ryuu is the first and only Adventurer to ever level up twice in one update.
  • Brutal Honesty: Ryuu holds nothing back and speaks her mind whenever asked her opinion.
  • Can't Catch Up: Her goddess has left Orario and she's been completely blacklisted by the Guild, meaning that she has no way to update her status. Because of this, she can't grow any stronger than she already has. Even while strengthened by Uchide no Kozuchi, she's defeated by Ais while buying time for the Hestia Familia to evacuate the Xenos back into the Dungeon. She even remarks on this, as Ais has left her in the dust in as little as five years when they were more or less equal during Orario's darkest days. This changes when she was finally able level up and she ended up doing so twice in one update, putting her at Level 6.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl:
    • In spite of the fact she's a Shipper on Deck for Syr and Bell, in the Familia Chronicle spin-off, she was uncomfortable when Syr showed off what she looked like in a dress to Bell.
    • During episode 2 of season 3, she initially refuses to go into the dungeon with Bell's group. However, she quickly changes her mind when Aisha offers to go, and hints that she wanted Bell to pay for her services with his body. While Ryuu claims she was going to protect his chastity for Syr, she also threw her restaurant plate at Aisha rather hard.
  • Clothing Damage: Her and Bell's fight against the Juggernaut heavily damages their clothes, leaving them near-naked in the dungeon.
  • The Comically Serious: She's almost always incredibly deadpan, in sharp contrast to the more emotive Anya and Syr.
  • Covert Pervert: In the OVA, Is It Wrong to Expect a Hot Spring in a Dungeon?, when Bell gets exposed, she covers her eyes while peeking through her fingers.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: She tells Bell more about her past in episode 12. The Astraea Familia which she belonged to was ambushed by the Ruoua Familia, a familia working with Evilus, and everyone but herself was killed. She then went on a Roaring Rampage of Revenge, wiping out the Rudra Familia. And not just the Rudra Familia, but their friends, their families, anyone who did business with them, and even started murdering guild employees who were colluding with them. She was blacklisted from the guild as a result, and would have died in some back alley were it not for Syr bumping into her and bringing her to Mia.
  • Does Not Know Her Own Strength: The other waitresses who are themselves mostly also retired high-leveled adventurers who don't like training with her because she has trouble holding back.
  • Elves Versus Dwarves: In this case, Elves vs Amazons. She has this relationship with Aisha, with the two constantly at odds due to the clashing culture of their species.
  • Guest-Star Party Member: Ryu on occasion assists the Hestia familia, whether by happenstance or on purpose. She was a great help in the battle against the Black Goliath, managed to take out a significant portion of the Apollo familia, and she and Bell fought side by side against the Juggernaut.
    • Sixth Ranger: In Volume 19, She finally joins the Hestia familia after defeating Freya during the War Game.
  • Hates Being Touched: Like many other Elves, she doesn't allow others to touch her and will knock away any hand going to touch her. The only three persons she allows to touch her are Bell, Syr and Alise. Played for Laughs with Anya who persistently tries to hug her and gets knocked the across the room by Ryuu in Episode Ryuu.
  • Improbable Weapon User: In one chapter, she throws an apple at someone so hard that the apple breaks into pieces upon impact. She also tosses a coin at Lili's hand, which causes her to drop Bell's knife which she had stolen from him. She stops a blade aimed at Bell from troublemakers in the bar with the handle of her beer mug, and in episode 12, she nearly gives Bell a Close-Call Haircut when she tosses something at him after he accidentally runs into her bathing. The tree next to him has a huge hole in it from whatever she threw at him.
  • Lethal Chef: She is completely senseless when comes to cooking. It is really hard to tell whose cooking is worse, hers or Syr's.
  • Matchmaker Crush: Despite wanting Bell and Syr together she ends up falling in love with Bell herself.
  • Magic Knight: She is both a very skilled swordsmen and powerful mage.
  • Meaningful Rename: She renames herself Ryuu Astraea after her former familia's Goddess when she finally joins the Hestia Familia. She initially wanted to change her surname to Cranel, but Hestia and Lili objected.
  • Meido: Her job at the pub.
  • Ninja Maid: A Meido combined with being a seasoned adventurer, hence the trope.
  • Not So Above It All: In spite of the fact that she's a badass and stoic elf, she's still capable of being embarrassed when her stomach growls in hunger at the wrong moment.
  • Older and Wiser: Her appearance in Astraea Record retroactively makes her this in the present. She was far more hot-headed and emotional in her days as part of the Astraea Familia, butting heads with fellow adventurer Kaguya and flying into rages unheard of for Ryuu in the present.
  • One-Man Army:
    • In volume 6, she takes on about 1/3 of Apollo Familia members (which is about 30 people) on her own, without using magic or a magic sword, and triumphs. This makes "The Mysterious Adventurer" an instant hit in Orario.
    • Before this, she ended up at the Hostess of Fertility after her familia was slaughtered by a Juggernaut as part of one of Evilus' traps. Ryuu is so heartbroken that she single-handedly slaughters the Rudra Familia and its associates in such a horrific display that she was blacklisted by the Guild.
  • Pointy Ears: As an elf, she has long and pointy ears.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Blue to Syr's Red.
  • Rei Ayanami Expy: She's a stoic elf girl with bobbed green hair and has a Dark and Troubled Past.
  • Retired Badass: She's a former Level 4 adventurer. She still takes up Jobs from time to time, but most of them are to rescue and help others rather than to actually go adventuring in the Dungeon.
  • The Rival: To Aisha. After meeeting, the two are often at odds with each other as two of Bell's primary allies outside the familia, but constantly end up in Teeth-Clenched Teamwork.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: She sought revenge for her murdered comrades in the city, but because of the way she did it, she was blacklisted from the Guild. The extent of her rampage is elaborated in Episode Ryuu:
She spared no one in her quest for revenge... including merchants who sold to her enemies... and adventurers themselves. However, [the Guild were] forced to take action [...] because her rampage... even went as far as Guild employees who colluded with her targets.
    • That explanation up there doesn't do her revenge justice. She murdered the entire remainder of the Rudra Familia (those who had not also been killed by a Juggernaut). Then she murdered all of their friends. Then she murdered their families. Then she murdered everyone who ever did business with them. Then she murdered members of the guild who had worked with them. She basically went on a massive killing spree of anyone remotely associated with Evilus or Rudra. Her actions destroyed at least 27 organizations and sent no less than four gods back to heaven. It was so horrible, the Guild was forced to blacklist her and brand her a fugitive.
  • Shipper on Deck: She supports Syr's crush on Bell.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: She is very stoic most of the time, but gets warm up to the people she trust, turns out she is a very kind and caring person.
  • Sweet Polly Oliver: While undercover at Orario's largest casino, she dresses up as a young male Elf noble with Syr as her escort and easily passes through without arousing suspicion. Bell and his companions only recognized her because the former is a regular at the Hostess of Fertility along with their prior adventure together in the Dungeon and the latter were once beaten by her.
  • Tragic Keepsake: The pair of short swords Kodachi Futaba she uses were gifts from a far-eastern member of Astraea Familia. Those were the only weapons she didn't leave at the Astraea Familia grave.
  • Undying Loyalty: To Syr, because Syr saved her from dying of despair in a back alley. She'll basically do anything if Sy is the one asking.
  • Wholesome Crossdresser: In order to infiltrate the Casino in Episode Ryuu, Ryuu goes undercover as "Mr. Maximilian", complete with tight-fitting suit.
  • Wooden Katanas Are Even Better: Her main weapon Alvs Lumina is actually just a wooden sword. Justified as it is made from a branch of holy tree from her home forest. It has surprisingly high attack power and durability, boosts the user's magic power, and is highly compatible with Elven magic. Considering Ryuu's combat style, this is the perfect weapon for her.
  • Vengeance Feels Empty: After finally getting her revenge and destroying Evilus, the only thing Ryuu felt was not a sense of accomplishment, but cold and empty. She was fully prepared to die in a dark alleyway for all the sins she committed. Thankfully, Syr found her first.
  • You Remind Me of X: Syr often reminds her of Alise and Astraea.
  • You Wouldn't Like Me When I'm Angry!: Says this combined with a Death Glare to an adventurer when he angrily confronts Bell for protecting Liliruca after she stole something from him. Fortunately the guy walks away.

Others

    Goibniu

Goibniu

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/goibniu_danmachi.png
Voiced by: Eizou Tsuda (JP), Jay Hickman (EN)\ Foreign VAs

The God of the Goibniu Familia.

  • Elderly Immortal: The first amongst the gods seen to look rather aged. He still has well-toned muscles from working in the forge though.
  • Ultimate Blacksmith: He's derived from the smithing and hospitality god who was the personal blacksmith of Tuatha De Denann, the premier god of Celtic Mythology. His familia is smaller and not as well-known as Hephaestus's, but is full of high-level blacksmiths who create extremely powerful equipment to such an extent that it is the preferred choice for high-leveled members of Loki's familia. The familia's creations include Tiona's Urga (which had the property of being able to cut through nearly anything) and Ais's Desperate (which would never chip, break, melt, or otherwise falter thanks to its Durandal property, but it could dull.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: Surprisingly enough. All he wears is a pair of trousers and an apron wrapped around his waist.

    Demeter

Demeter

The Goddess of the Demeter Familia.

  • Green Thumb: Same as her basis in Greek Mythology. Her Familia specializes in the creation of high-quality produce rather than fighting monsters.
  • Hot Goddess: She's incredibly curvaceous and is considered beautiful like the other goddesses.
  • Odd Friendship: She's good friends with Freya, the leader of the most powerful familia in Orario, despite their familia's drastically different methods and goals. In Memoria Freese, the fact that Freya forgot about a spa appointment they made centuries ago was enough for Demeter to concoct a highly convoluted plan to "kidnap" Freya just to tell her that You Are Not Alone.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: As the "Queen-Colonel", she disguises herself by wearing a pair of tacky sunglasses. Virtually everyone sees right through it, but she continues as if her identity was perfectly concealed.

A Level 2 Adventurer who initially resented Bell's rise to fame but grows to respect him

  • Combat Pragmatist: He makes himself invisible during his fight with Bell to gain the advantage.
  • Invisibility Cloak: He can turn invisible with the magic item Hades Head.
  • Karmic Jackpot: Almost literally. Mord's respect for Bell and the Hestia Familia leads him to be one of two people who bet on the Hestia Familia in the War Game between them and the Apollo Familia. Mord is richly rewarded for his confidence in them when they win — the hefty amount of money he bet and the low odds set for the Hestia Familia's victory means he gets a very large payout.
  • The Resenter: Resented Bell's rapid advancement and even went so far as to attack him in the dungeon over it. He gets over it after Bell defeats the Black Goliath.
  • Rugged Scar: He has two long scars on his face, one on his left cheek, and the other across his forehead.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: He starts out as a jealous jerkass who eventually becomes a supporter of Bell.
