Ranking Event Bosses

    Hollow Guardian

Hollow Guardian (ホロウ・ガーディアン)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hollowguardian_2.png
First appearance: The One That the Hollow Guardian Seeks (虚ろなる守護者の求めしもの)

  • Blade Below the Shoulder: Has two swords replacing her hands. The detached sleeves make it hard to see how are they attached to her arms.
  • Butter Face: She has quite a nice figure... Despite the nightmarish face and arm swords.
  • Energy Weapon: Shoots a purple laser similar to Twin Sword Demon's, but from her face.
  • Male Gaze: Many a player and Tao certainly think she looks hot... Ex, whoever, does not share that thought.
  • Miniboss: The party encounters her again in the 50th floor of the event "Shout LOOOVE at the Top of the Sky".
  • Spin Attack: Jumps and rolling slashes at you with her hands.

    Blazing Phoenix

Blazing Phoenix (炎の不死鳥)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/phoenix_92.png

Appearances: Wings of Desire - The False Legend of the Phoenix | Oz's Unexpected Reunion | My Captain, His Last Bow (mentioned) | Fortem Story Zone
Weakness: Pierce and Ice

  • Affectionate Nickname: Adah calls him Fenny when they befriend sometime before Oz's Unexpected Reunion, and so does everyone else after that.
  • Badass in Distress: Happens to him off-screen in My Captain, His Last Bow; apparently some random prince managed to capture him somehow. This is no small feat, considering he is quite powerful on his own. Adah and Fam spend the entirety of the event in a mission to rescue Fenny.
  • The Bus Came Back: After 3 years of being absent from the game, he finally made another appearance, in the last stage of Fortem Story Zone.
  • Dash Attack: Charges and launches himself to impale the player with his beak.
  • Demonic Possession: The Witch of the West posesses his body in Oz's Unexpected Reunion, forcing the party to Beat the Curse Out of Him.
  • Fireballs: Spits 3 fireballs from his mouth, which inflict Burn.
  • Foreshadowing: In My Captain, His Last Bow, Shane makes an out-of-nowhere comment that they will probably never see Penny again. Which was the writers' way of saying that he is not going to make another appearance anytime soon, with the subtlety of at brick to your face. Even his return in Fortem Story Zone is met with zero fanfare.
  • Forgotten First Meeting: Ex and Shane fail to remember him in Fortem Story Zone. It did not help that the bird had become a mindless monster by then. It is rather jarring because Tao's Family and the Phoenix remained on good terms, and was a close friend to Adah.
  • Half-Dressed Cartoon Animal: Calling him cartoon animal would be a bit of a stretch, but the Phoenix sports black pants with spiked poleyns. They are more notable on his battle sprite.
  • Having a Blast: Is able to create ranged explosions.
  • The Phoenix
  • Plot-Irrelevant Villain: In Fortem Story Zone, he merely returned for a Mini-Boss fight with no impact to the plot.
  • Toothy Bird: So many that it probably borders into More Teeth than the Osmond Family.

  • All There in the Manual: The backstories of these monsters are (super vaguely) explained in the descriptions of the many items they drop. Hope you got some screenshots!
  • And I Must Scream: You craft various weapons with parts of their bodies. This includes their very souls. Think about it for a sec.
  • Monster Organ Trafficking: Defeating them nets you their body parts, which you need to use to craft weapons featured on their events.
  • Moveset Clone: Their alternate forms still use the same attacks, only difference being the elements they are associated with.
  • Palette Swap: With the exception of the Gorillas and Alice/Snow, all of them have an alternate form which basically boils down to a different color palette with another main element.
  • Plot-Irrelevant Villain: Their events have no story whatsoever, and very few of them actually show up in the main plot (Mega Cocco Black being the most developed in comparison to the other monsters because of his many appearances in the story). First appearance: Little Red Riding Hood's Report Part 2 (ずきんちゃんの届け物 後編)
Weakness: Pierce and Darkness

  • Battle Couple: Both her and King Black try to stop King Midas' invasion in Aesop's Story Zone. They also aid Aesop as imagines for her costumed version.
  • Dual Boss: With the black Mega Cocco in the Recollection Cave of her event.
  • Enemy Summoner: Averted. In contrast of the regular Mega Coccos, she never summons chicken mooks to the wave. The fight already starts with three Coccos accompanying her.
  • Eyes Always Shut: At least in her artwork.
  • Gold-Colored Superiority: Curiosly, she shares the same gold-colored mooks as Mega Cocco Hyper FO.
  • One-Winged Angel: Her true form is of a Mega Cocco.
  • Palette Swap: Her appearance is almost the same as Hyper's (aside from the birdie with a crown). Her moveset isn't any different either.

First appearance: (七人の悪魔科学者編 前編) / (七人の悪魔科学者編 後編)
Weakness: Strike and Darkness

  • Dual Boss: Both of her forms can be fought together in the event "Machina Battle".
  • Heel–Face Brainwashing: In the event A Bouquet for Those who Passsed Away Part 2, Mecha Paracelsus is the first opponent to be fought at the Tower of Fortem. Following her defeat, she is reprogrammed by Paracelsus to obey his commands. All the intel she is able to offer is that there are two more enemies ahead (Chaos Therese and Shadow Dorloto). Chaos Therese responds by killing the robot girl for her "treachery", even though Mecha Paracelsus did not really have a choice on the matter.
  • Heel–Face Door-Slam: Mecha Paracelsus only gets to tag along with the party for a couple of minutes before getting destroyed by Chaos Therese, who already has sore spot for any sign of betrayal. This enrages Paracelsus, who kills Chaos Therese after being defeated by the party.
  • Kamehame Hadoken: One of her moves.
  • Laser Blade: Her regular attack is generating an energy blade from her hand and slash the opponent with it. And is followed by two punches.
  • Palette Swap: Take a guess. The only notable differences are those horns on her forehead.
  • Robot Girl: A female version of Paracelsus.
  • Shock and Awe: Can release an electrical explosion that is easily dodgeable, as it takes some seconds to land on the floor.

With Oscar
First appearance: 過ぎ去りし者達に花束を Part 1
Weakness: None

  • Barrier Warrior: Raises her hands to summon a harmful mirror barrier that protects her and raises her defense power. Attackers are gonna have a bad time if they get close to her.
  • Climax Boss: In "Grimms Notes' Story Zone", she's the final obstacle before the party crosses the portal to jump into the Final World.
  • Elemental Punch: The punches he delivers are infused with ice.
  • Giant Woman: She's a giantess, twice as tall as any of the playable characters.
  • Mirror Monster: Most of her moveset is mirror-themed, which is expected from her.
  • Reflecting Laser: Summons a mirror to fire a laser that later comes back by another mirror in the other side of the battlefield.
  • Wolverine Claws: Her basic attack is turning the spikes on her knuckles into long claws and attack her opponent with them.

    The Three Little Pigs

Little Pig (こぶた) / Chaos Little Pig (カオス・こぶた) / Chaos 3 Little Pigs (カオス・三匹のこぶた)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lilpig_1.png
Chaos Little Pig
First appearance: Part 1 (獣たちの番だ! 前編)
Weakness: Strike, Light and Fire

  • BFG: They are armed with cannons as Chaos Tellers.
  • Devil in Plain Sight: The characters treat them as just some plain villagers, even though their default expression flat out screams they are plotting something.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: The reason they caused a commotion among the Bremen band is because nobody appreciated their job as carpenters, nor did they ever get recognition for their hard work. They caused troubles in order to vent their pent-up anger. At the end, it takes Reina giving the pigs some encouraging words for them to let her go.
  • Fusion Dance: In the second part, the three fuse together to form a giant version of themselves.
  • Terrible Trio: You fight the three pigs together in Part 1.
  • Obviously Evil: They pose as just some villagers, but not only do they have unique character portraits which signal their importance, they sport devilish grins that indicate they are up to no good.
  • One-Winged Angel: They simultaneously turn into Chaos Tellers when they get cornered at the end of Part 1.
  • Same-Sex Triplets: They all look the same, even when they become Chaos Tellers.
  • Shockwave Stomp: One of them can stomp the floor with enough strength to make a bunch of brick ceilings fall.
  • Smug Smiler: Their default facial expression.

Beanstalk Capture Event Bosses

    In General

  • Battle Theme Music: This. It only plays when you fight them in their respective events. When fought in other quests, they simply get the regular boss music.
  • The Rival: None of them are Chaos Tellers per se, but most of the Sky heroes have some sort of grudge or a score that has to be settled with these guys.

    Sky Giant

Sky Giant (天空の巨人)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gn_skygiant.png
First appearance: Reason to Climb a Big Tree (大木に登る理由)

  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Living up to his name, he's the tallest of all he beanstalk events' bosses.
  • Dual Boss: He and Demon Rothbart are the final opponents in the Boss Rush event "Waltz of the Demon and the Giant.
  • Wolfpack Boss: He pops up in the last fight of the Boss Rush event "Force of Mythology" if you kill all the mooks, enforcing this trope if you didn't kill Theseus and the Ruin Dragon beforehand.
  • Spikes of Villainy: His armor and club are adorned with lots of spikes. Though he isn't really villanous... At least as the guardian of his beanstalk.
  • You Can Talk?: Reina gets surpised when she hears him talk after his defeat.

    Fake Frog Prince

Fake Frog Prince (偽カエルの王子)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gn_fakefrogprince.png
First appearance: Loyalty of Steel (鋼の忠誠)
Weakness: Magic and Lightning

  • Identity Impersonator: He is actually an entity that took the Frog Prince's appearance to test the loyalty and resolve of Heinrich. The actual one would not appear until the release of Repage.
  • Multipurpose Tongue: One of his attacks is punching enemies with his tongue.
  • Overly-Long Tongue: Being a frog, he can shoot out his tongue to attack.
  • Verbal Tic: Sometimes ends his sentences with "geko geko geko", the Japanese croaking of a frog.
  • You Have Failed Me: Dismisses Heinrich for not being able to protect him from his curse, saying he doesn't need a vassal like him. Tao doesn't take this very well.

    Demon Rothbart

Demon Rothbart (悪魔ロットバルト)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rothbart.png
First appearance: White and Black Grand Fouette (白と黒のグランフェッテ)

  • Dual Boss: Rothbart and Sky Giant are the final opponents in the Boss Rush event "Waltz of the Demon and the Giant.

    Witch Jorinde

Witch Jorinde (魔女ヨリンデ)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wjorinde.png

Roaring Thunder Spirit (轟雷精)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/raisei.png
First appearance: Lightning Knight's Sin and Punishment (雷光騎士の罪と罰)
Weakness: Strike and Darkness

  • Dual Boss: Forms an alliance with Armed Rhino in the last fight of the Boss Rush event "Key of Dark Attack".
  • Dual Wielding: His combat weapons are a lance and a hammer.
  • Irony: Thunder Spirit is a being made of Shock and Awe... And he still can be paralyzed. It seems like he got aware of it, because his new form is immune to Paralysis (but still not to Stun).
  • Shock and Awe: His body armor is completely animated by lightning. Naturally, his moveset is based on this element.
  • Upgraded Boss: As "Roaring Thunder Spirit", being this form the final opponent from the Boss Rush event "High Voltage".

    King Lackland

King Lackland (ラックランド王)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lackland_9.png

    Captain Flint

Captain Flint (フリント船長)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/flint_2.png
First appearance: My Captain, Last Greeting (我が船長、最後の挨拶)

  • Adaptational Early Appearance: In the anime. Dragon Pirate Silver sees a brief illusion of Captain Flint grinning, right before his death.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: Flint is alluded a lot of times by Silver, who often angsts about being an inferior pirate to him, which has caused Silver to become a Chaos Teller in one occasion, and a Shadow in another one.

    Bandits Leader Kodjia

Bandits Leader Kodjia (盗賊の頭コジア)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kodjia_2.png

First appearance: Marital Relationship Is Like a Slow Growing Tree (夫婦仲とは成長の遅い木の如し)

  • Boulder Bludgeon: Not only he can lift a giant rock from the ground, said rock also gets imbued with electricity.
  • Cool Helmet: To complement his gladiator design, his helmet is stylized after those worn by Roman soldiers.
  • Dual Boss: Fought alongside Ruin Dragon in the Boss Rush event "Force of Mythology".
  • Glowing Eyes of Doom: Through his helmet, red glowing eyes can be seen.
  • The Faceless: Unlike Knight of the Silver Moon, he never removes his mask.
  • Shock and Awe: Theseus posesses dominance over this element.

    Alexandra

Alexandra (アレクサンドラ)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/alexandra_7.png
First appearance: An Angry Daughter and a Melancholic Mother (怒れる娘と憂う母)

  • Abusive Mom: She does not treat her daughter kindly, and doesn't hesitate to kill her by the time both of them reach at the top of the tree.
  • Dual Boss: In the Search event "Top of the Sky", she fights alongside a random beanstalk villain (Sky Giant, King Lackland, or Witch Gothel), regardless if one of them was defeated in a previous wave.
  • More Dakka: Can jump and shoot what's basically a shower of bullets.
  • Sword and Gun: Wields a sword and a shotgun in battle.

Raid/Tower Event Bosses

    In General

  • Battle Theme Music: This. And just like the Beanstalk Guardians, this track won't play when you fight Shadows in other quests.
  • Boss-Only Level: Second parts of Raid events (which are only available in Multiplayer Zone) involve fighting only the Shadow boss in 1 wave with no mooks around.
  • Suddenly Voiced: It comes as a surprise that the Shadows actually have voiced dialogues, in a game where no enemies ever say anything in battle, not even the final bosses. Though averted in the case of Shadows originating from tower events, and when they are fought outside their Raid events.

    Shadow Hagoromo Tennyo

Shadow Hagoromo Tennyo (シャドウ・羽衣天女)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shagoromo_1.png
Weakness: Light
Voiced by: Seria Fukagawa

  • Sinister Scythe: Her personal weapon.
  • Voice of the Legion: She's one of the only two character in the game with this filter applied to her voice (the other being Shadow Dinah).

    Shadow Son Goku

Shadow Son Goku (シャドウ・孫悟空)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sgoku_6.png
Weakness: Ice and Light
Voiced by: Hitomi Yoshida

  • Dual Boss: In the last fight of the event "Meteora Kung Fu", which is a Boss Rush consisting only in characters from Journey to the West, she fights you alongside Wild Bull Demon King.
  • Expy: Of Ozaru.
  • Killer Gorilla: She ain't that cute girl with a BFS anymore.
  • Vocal Dissonance: When you see an agressive and bulky female gorilla like her, you would expect her to at least have a deep voice. Hitomi Yoshida doesn't even bother to give her a deeper voice.

    Shadow Dinah

Shadow Dinah (シャドウ・ダイナ)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sdinah_3.png
Weakness: Slash and Magic
Voiced by: Yumi Uchiyama

    Shadow Dorloto

Shadow Dorloto (シャドウ・ドーロット)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sdorloto_6.png
Weakness: Strike, Magic and Darkness
Voiced by: Kana Ueda

    Shadow Chopin

Shadow Chopin (シャドウ・ショパン)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/schopin.png
Weakness: Strike, Pierce and Darkness
Voiced by: Satoshi Hino

    Bander Boojum

Bander Boojum (バンダーブージャム)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/noshadow.png
Weakness: Lightning and Light

  • Amplifier Artifact: In the second part of the event he can generate two Field Objects called "Boojum Crystals". One of these reduces the party's attack power, and the other one increases his defense. Needless to say, this will make the fight waaaay too tedious than it should be.
  • My Friends... and Zoidberg: He is not a Shadow like the rest of the raid event bosses.
  • The Voiceless: Zigzagged. Despite having no voice actor listed (he can't even talk), Bander Boojum does have unique voiced screams and roars.

Other Bosses

    Giant UFO

Giant UFO (巨大UFO)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ufo_6.png
First appearance: Gakken Mu X Grimms Notes (月刊ムー×グリムノーツ)
Weakness: Strike

  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Suffered from this for more than 3 years, until it was brought back as the boss of the multiplayer event "Mysterious Disk! SOS".
  • Flunky Boss: It's almost impossible to fight this thing alone, since it often spawns miniature versions of itself (and random villains) to the battlefield.
  • Flying Saucer: Who would have guessed?
  • Instant Thunder: Has the ability to call down lightning strikes right at you, complete with paralyzis.
  • King Mook: You fight many small UFOs in battle, and this one is the leader, is the biggest one, has many skills at it's disposition, and is fought in the last wave.
  • Magic Meteor: Able to call dozens of meteors with it's antennae, which may get your hero stunned.
  • Stationary Boss: Despite being shown flying around in cutscenes, this giant UFO won't move from it's place in battle. It makes up for this by putting a good fight and letting it's minions screw you around.
  • Status Buff: It's only non-damaging skill involves decreasing the party's defense.

    Mad Reindeer

Mad Reindeer (マッドトナカイ)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/madreindeericon.png
First appearance: Holy Night Present (聖なる夜のプレゼント)
A giant blue deer that is always accompanying the Santa bosses.

  • Amazing Technicolor Wildlife: This reindeer's body has blue fur.
  • Came Back Strong: Downplayed. He returned in a Restriction event with enhanced stats, but he's only difficult to kill because you're forced to equip 3* weapons, and you also have to deal with Decosori Santa FO at the same time.
  • Dash Attack: His eyes shine when he prepares to charge at the player.
  • Dual Boss: Always does battle alongside any Santa Claus. You never get to fight him alone.
    • First with Mad Santa in his debut event... And both of them are pushovers there.
    • He also comes back accompanying Decosori Santa FO for a Restriction event from December 2018. And he's not fucking around this time.
  • Making a Splash: One of his moves is making a water explosion.
  • Vertebrate with Extra Limbs: A winged deer. Even his cape is designed around them.
  • Zero-Effort Boss: In the event were he came from, he can be easily killed with mere attacks of a weak 3* hero. Making him probably the easiest boss in the game.

    Chaos Yggdrasil

Chaos Yggdrasil (カオス・ユグドラシル)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cyggdrasil.png
First appearance: VP Lenneth X Grimms Notes (VPレナス×グリムノーツ)
