Main Quest's Chaos Tellers

    In General
  • Body Horror: A few of them go for a One-Winged Angel transformation, rather than a simple change of wardrobe. Even to the point of getting horribly disfigured in the process.
  • The Corrupter: Chaos Tellers can transform people with Books of Fate into Villains, with attuning the Story Zone the only way to turn them back.
  • Evil Makeover: Those who do not mutate into some hideous monster simply pull off an Evil Costume Switch.
  • Monster of the Week: Finding and defeating the Chaos tellers is a requirement to restoring order to the Story Zones.
  • Reality Warper: Can basically re-write the fates in anyone's Book of Fates, completely destroying the narrative in a Story Zone making them this. Blank Tome wielders having no fates to begin with makes them immune to their machinations, giving them the power to fight them.

Grimms Notes

    Chaos Godmother

Chaos Godmother (カオス・ゴッドマザー)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cgodmother.png

Voiced by: Yui Horie (Anime)
Weakness: Ice
Appears in: Cinderella Story Zone | Cracked Glass Slippers (Chaos Cinderella's Hero Episode) | Snow White Story Zone | Battle of Princess | The Ash Girl and the Glass Knight | All Creation Story Zone | To You Who Faces Your Destiny | Behind the Mask (Loki's Hero Episode) | Chaos Galahad's Conspiracy | Dorothea's Trial Part 1 | Sleeping Wild

  • Adaptational Badass: In the anime she's way stronger and faster than her game counterpart, who is just a pushover.
  • Catchphrase: "Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo!"
  • Dual Boss: In the event "Chaos Galahad's Strategy", Chaos Godmother and Chaos Cinderella make a duo as the Cinderella Team.
  • Glasgow Grin: An ear-to-ear permanent grin which she never drops.
  • Goldfish Poop Gang: The party fights her a lot of times in the game. She never puts a good fight, even on higher difficulties. This is because of her very slow speed and having only two attacks, which are very predictable.
  • Lazy Artist: Her wheels are not drawn in her portrait. You're not supposed to see the lower part in cutscenes.
  • Love Makes You Evil: Her love for Cinderella is the reason why she became a Chaos Teller.
  • Scary Teeth: That giant grin doesn't help either. The teeth are black and white in the game, and shark-like in the anime.
  • Starter Villain: She's the very first Chaos Teller faced by Ex and co. And quite an incompetent when it comes to fighting.
  • Warmup Boss: Justified, considering she's the game's first real boss. All of her attacks are very telegraphed, and she moves around with a turtle's pace.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Her reason for becoming a Chaos Teller is to protect Cinderella, even if it means putting her in a deep slumber while turning the rest of the kingdom into villains.

    Little Red Wolf

Little Red Wolf (リトル・レッド・ウルフ)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/littleredwolf.png
First appearance: Little Red Riding Hood Story Zone (赤ずきんの想区)
Weakness: Ice
Voiced by: Risa Taneda (Anime)

  • Adapted Out: Not her in the anime, but the basket she's always carrying around, even during fights.
  • Dual Boss: Little Red Wolf and Chaos Red Riding Hood fight together in the event "Chaos Galahad's Strategy", as the Red Riding Team.
  • Evil All Along: Ex's group mistakes Little Red as a victim of the Chaos Teller, not knowing that she IS the Chaos Teller.
  • Enemy Summoner: By waving her hand, she can summon wolves in battle, and just Boogie Villains in the anime.
  • Our Werewolves Are Different: Her form as a Chaos Teller is that of a humanoid Lycanthrope.
  • Playing with Fire: Gains fire skills in the anime, such as releasing a burning laser with her hand, and clawing and kicks imbued with flames.
  • Twinkle in the Eye: Does this before delivering a beatdown to Alice in the anime.

    Dragon Pirate John Silver

Dragon Pirate John Silver (龍賊ジョン・シルバー)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dsilver_2.png
First appearance: Treasure Island Story Zone (宝島の想区)
Weakness: Lightning
Voiced by: Hiroshi Shirokuma (Anime)

  • Adaptational Name Change: Zig-zagged. His name was changed to Chaos Silver in the anime, but he was also reffered as that during his appearance in Chaos Jack's symbol event. Averted in the soundtrack's tracklist, where he still keeps his original name.
  • Adapted Out: His parrot buddy doesn't appear in the anime.
  • Always Someone Better: He resents the fact that he's unable to surpass Captain Flint.
  • Despair Event Horizon: He knows from his Book of Fate that his dream to find the buried treasure and become the greatest pirate is doomed to fail, which attributes to his reason to become a Chaos Teller in an attempt to fight that fate.
  • Dual Boss: The Dragon Pirate and Chaos Jim work work together as the Treasure Island Team in the event "Chaos Galahad's Strategy".
  • Pirate Parrot: In this form, Silver has one following him around.

    Windmill Giant

Windmill Giant (風車の巨人)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/windmillgiant.png
First appearance: Don Quixote Story Zone (ドン・キホーテの想区)
Weakness: Light

  • Blow You Away: Creates tornadoes by swinging his arms and spinning the attached windmills faster, followed by a down attack with a hand.
  • Dash Attack: One so slow that leaves him exposed to attacks before charging head-first.
  • Dual Boss: In the Recollection Cave of C. Pinocchio's event, he assists the latter in battle.
  • Floating Limbs: His detached hands, which are also Giant Hands of Doom. Fortunately for you, these aren't separate targets. Once he goes down, the hands fall apart.
  • Giant Space Flea Out Of Nowhere: There is absolutely NO indication that a random inanimate object has become a Chaos Teller other than Don Quixote's imagination.
  • Shout-Out: His introduction in the anime, where he's creeping over the town's wall, is a clear reference to Attack on Titan.
  • Kill It with Fire: Dies incinerated by Little Red Riding Hood's fire skill.
  • The Voiceless: No wonder he doesn't have a seiyuu in the anime. Though he roars in the game... Somehow.

    Merciless Snow Queen

Merciless Snow Queen (無慈悲な雪の女王)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/msnowqueen.png
First appearance: The Snow Queen Story Zone (雪の女王の想区)
Weakness: Fire
Voiced by: Yuu Kobayashi (Anime)

  • Adaptational Wimp: A big offender from the anime. Instead of being the tough and competent boss she was in the game, this Chaos Teller only taunts the party, throws some ice attacks, and gets killed by a single special attack from behind. All of this in a matter of seconds.
  • Enemy Summoner: Can summon three Snowmen to the fight 5 times. This ability goes unused in the anime.
  • Gemstone Assault: Actually the first boss who reuses Gerda's special attack, an explosive icycle, also shared with a number of other ice-themed bosses.
  • Yandere: Is gaga for Kai and will do anything to ensure he remains hers, even if it means killing his Childhood Friend Gerda.

    Emperor

Greedy Sultan - Emperor (強欲なる皇帝・エンペラー)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/emperor_41.png
First appearance: Aladdin Story Zone (アラジンの想区)
Weakness: None
Voiced by: Kousuke Echigoya (Anime)
A sultan that took Aladdin's lamp and seeked to rule everything with its power.
  • Adaptational Badass: In-game he is a cowardly prick whose staff is a mere decoration. The anime however has him actually using it and putting up a decent fight.
  • Dual Boss: Never fought without the Lamp Spirit's help.
  • Enemy Summoner: The first thing he'll do is summon the Lamp Spirit and then stay behind him. If the genie is killed, he'll summon two at the same time.
  • "Get Back Here!" Boss: He'll always run away and let the Lamp Spirit do the fighting. Subverted in the anime, where he never abandons his throne and uses his rod to fight, mocking Kai for thinking he was helpless.
  • Long-Range Fighter: In the anime he shoots magic projectiles from his wand to Kai, taking the latter by surprise.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: While he is outright evil in Aladdin Story Zone, this case gets averted in the event "Appearance of Demon Emperor", as he is just a different sultan, who still retains the bloodshot eyes (apparently because of an illness). Even lampshaded by Shane, as she still does not trust him because of his red eyes.
  • Sickness Equals Redness: In the event "Appearance of Demon Emperor", the reason he has red eyes is because he was congested due to not being able to sleep at night.
  • Throne Room Throwdown: The sultan is confronted inside his palace's throne room.

    Lamp Spirit

Greedy Sultan - Lamp Spirit (強欲なる皇帝・ランプの精)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lampspirit.png
First appearance: Aladdin Story Zone (アラジンの想区)
Weakness: Ice
Voiced by: Taro Kiuchi (Anime)
Aids the Emperor in battle, and respawns every time he is defeated.

    Two-Headed Giant Oni

Two-Headed Giant Oni (双頭の大鬼)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2headdemon_8.png
First appearance: Momotaro Story Zone (桃太郎の想区)
Weakness: Light and Darkness
Voiced by: Minoru Inaba and Reiko Suzuki (Anime)

  • Abnormal Limb Rotation Range: Before turning into this Chaos Teller, Momotaro's grandparents do this right in front of him.
  • Evil Old Folks: Prior to their transformation.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: This boss has a special death animation, where both heads become pale, forming a disgusted expression while they're falling to the ground (also present when doing some of their attacks). They don't do this in the anime.
  • Flaming Meteor: Has the ability to rain down five meteors at random places. The right head goes pale when doing this.
  • Multiple Head Case: Those two heads belong to Momotaro's grandparents. One of them specializes on regular attacks, while the other on magic.
  • Savage Spiked Weapons: Their melee weapon is a big spiked club with it's top burning.
  • Thief Bag: They carry around three bags full of golden coins.

    Demon Priest

Infernal Demon Priest (地獄の悪魔司祭)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/evilpriest_2.png
First appearance: Jeanne Story Zone (ジャンヌの想区)
Weakness: Light
Voiced by: Yoji Ueda (Anime)

  • Adapted Out: The iconic trumpet angels on his shoulders were replaced with simple small wings in the anime. Talk about lazyness.
  • Badass Preacher: Villanous example.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: After bursting into Jeanne's mansion, he defeats Ex with no effort and kidnaps the girl.
  • Flash Step: In battle he can teleport and attack the player from behind.
  • Dual Boss: Assists Chaos Juliet in the Recollection Cave of her event.
  • Human Shield: In the anime he teleports behind Jeanne d'Arc and dares the party to attack him.
  • No Body Left Behind: Unlike other Chaos Tellers, he just vanishes after his defeat. Probably because he was anger and hatred materialized, nothing else.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Played straight in the game. The anime gives him black sclera with red pupils.
  • The Power of Hate: According to himself, he was "born from England's anger and hatred".

    Heartless Queen

Heartless Queen (ハートレス・クイーン)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/heartlessqueen.png
First appearance: Wonderland Story Zone (不思議の国の想区)
Weakness: Fire
Voiced by: Sayaka Ohara (Anime)

  • Adaptational Name Change: Her name was changed to Chaos Queen of Hearts in the anime (despite the game having another character with the same name who wouldn't be introduced until much later after Repage's launch). Averted in the soundtrack's tracklist, where she is still reffered as Heartless Queen.
  • Enemy Summoner: Calls in Trump Soldiers to the fight.

    Jabberwock

Poem Dragon Jabberwock (詩竜ジャバウォック)

Jabberwock FO (ジャバウォック・FO)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jabberwock_7.png
First appearance: Looking-Glass World Story Zone (鏡の国の想区)
Weakness: Light
Voiced by: Junji Majima (Anime)

  • Alien Blood: His eyes at least bleed purple, as shown in the anime.
  • Attack Backfire: His Field Object form would be more difficult to kill if he just stopped bringing his tail to the field. For every time it is destroyed, the skill bar is refilled with two points. Since this battle takes place in the multiplayer zone, where each player has their own skill bar, and the minimum amount required to execute a skill can be two or three points, you can already guess how does that end for him.
  • The Dragon: To Loki. He even calls Jabberwock "his mascot".
  • Friendship Denial: His reaction to Ex's The Power of Friendship speech in the anime, before dying.
Jabberwock: Lonely? Me? Friends... I... do not need them...
  • Eye Scream: Suffers this in the anime. Reina/Alice suggests Shane/Gerda to go for the eyes, followed by her summoning an icycle that pierces his left eye, leaving an opening for Reina to attack the dragon. Not too long after, Ex/Ludwig rips his right eye off with his sword, which is enough for Jabberwock to bite the dust.
  • Stationary Boss: Due to his sheer size, Jabberwock only gets to move around his head and left hand in battle.
  • The Stinger: He appears briefly in Wonderland Story Zone after the party deals with the Heartless Queen.
  • Tail Slap: Can make his tail burst from the ground and attack from the left side of the screen. As Jabberwock FO, he will make the tail will stay there until you destroy it.
  • Upgraded Boss: Jabberwock FO, fought in a Restriction event from April 2019. Downplayed, as he's only strong because you're forced to be equipped only with copper weapons.

    Bull Demon King (♀)

Bull Demon King (牛魔王(♀))

Wild Bull Demon King (猛牛魔王)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bulldemonking_9.png
First appearance: Journey to the West Story Zone (西遊記の想区)
Weakness: Ice

  • Berserk Button: Go ahead and try to insinuate she's a guy
  • Brutish Bulls: Jarringly, she doesn't have a human appearance like the rest of the Journey to the West cast.
  • Dash Attack: One of her moves is releasing a shock wave and charging head-first into her opponents.
  • Dual Boss: Has a knack of allying with Chaos Son Goku to take you on. It's rather fitting, considering both of them used to be comrade of arms.
    • She helps her in the last fights of the latter's symbol event.
    • They team up again to form the Journey to the West Team in the event "Chaos Galahad's Strategy".
    • Wild Bull Demon King and Shadow Son Goku gang up in the Boss Rush event "Meteora Kung Fu", where you fight all the characters from Journey to the West.
  • Dual Wielding: Has two axes as weapons.
  • Unsettling Gender-Reveal: The angry bull reveals Reina that she is in fact female (after the later asked why "he" wanted to hang out with a group of girls like Son Goku's). Reina gets quite surprised, of course.
  • Upgraded Boss: Wild Bull Demon King. Her (?) new gimmick is bursting another shock wave, which hits even harder, that grants more power and defense to herself and all the enemies in battle (which is only Shadow Son Goku).

Oz Mark 99 (オズ・マーク99)

Chaos Dante (カオス・ダンテ)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cdante_9.png
First appearance: Romeo and Juliet Story Zone (ロミオとジュリエットの想区)
Weakness: Magic and Darkness

  • Dual Boss: With Kuzunoha in the penultimate wave of the event "Recollection of Boss Rush", right before fighting Morrigan. This is actually an allusion to their position as the Imagines of Morrigan when she's wearing her author costume.
  • Elemental Powers: Dante uses dark skills, while Beatrice's only spell is based on light.
  • Guardian Entity: Saint Beatrice, the ghost lady resting on his shoulder.
  • The Lost Lenore: Apparently Beatrice was this to him.

  • Useless Accessory: Carries a katana in his back, which never uses.

First appearance: French Revolution Story Zone (フランス革命の想区)
Weakness: Slash, Magic and Light

  • BFS: He wields a fairly big sword with one hand.
  • Face of a Thug: By looking a his facial expression, you may assume Sanson must be a sadistic nutcase. In actuality, he is a decent guy who is loyal to the crown and despises his executioner job.
  • The Executioner: It is Charles-Henri Sanson himself, it goes without saying!
  • Slasher Smile: Sporst one that does not reflect his actual personality.

    Chaos Therese

  • Heel–Face Door-Slam: Just after she finally snaps and stops her quest of becoming a princess, Hecate shows up and blows her flute to turn her evil again. Not only that, the flute is also used to force Carabosse into fighting the party. This lady just can't catch a break.
  • Killed Off for Real: Courtesy of Prometheus, in order to transfer her Chaos Teller job to Lira's Essence.
  • Shock and Awe: Her element.
  • You Can Barely Stand: After she gets knocked down for the third time, Aurora chastises Hecate for still forcing Carabosse to fight even when she's fatally wounded.

First appearance: Alice Story Zone (アリスの想区)
Weakness: Ice

  • Enemy Mine: In "Final World Part 2", he comes to help the party to fend off the giant Nobodies. He remarks that he only does it because while he does dislike the party, he dislikes Chaos even more, and he'll go back to terrorize them as soon as they are finished with their business.
  • Palette Swap: He's basically this, with only his artwork being on a different pose.

    Prometheus

    Fir Tree

  • Enemy Summoner: The flying egg plays Hecate's flute to summon Mega Villains in battle.
  • Slasher Smile: The egg creature has a creepily realistic grin insde its cracked spot.

Chaos Pied Piper (カオス・笛吹き男)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gn_cpiper.png
First appearance: Snow Ashes Story Zone (灰雪姫の想区)
Weakness: Pierce and Light

  • Defiant to the End: Before being Killed Off for Real, he manages to deal an injury on Revol, and the Antelope gloats that even if he's killed, the Magic Mirror's curse will remain the same.
  • Demonic Possession: Because the Pied Piper was such an incorruptible soul to let himself fall into temptation, Morrigan had forcibly turned him into a Chaos Teller by injecting the soul of the demon from The Armless Maiden. The Pied Piper's will was so strong that it left the demon very weakened. Present day, the demon remained the dominant soul.
  • Fusion Dance:
    • This is not Pied Piper himself, but the demon from The Armless Maiden possessing his body. When Morrigan turned him into a Chaos Teller, he was in such a weakened state because the Pied Piper's soul remained strong, leading to being easily defeated by Wilhelm. The demon's face and big horns rest over Chaos Pied Piper's hat.
    • And It does not end there. When Deus Prometheus revives him for a rematch, he merged the soul of the Antelope from "The Magic Mirror" inside the Pied Piper's body. The Antelope's soul remained dominant in this case, taunting the Magic Mirror about the curse he cast upon her back when he was killed by Gopani-Kufa. The Antelope is seen in the back of Chaos Pied Piper's head (and it is strangely present from the beginning).
  • Instrumental Weapon: He's got a large flute with a scythe blade attached to it.
  • Slasher Smile: Has a permanent Joker-like smile.

    Chaos King Midas

Chaos King Midas (カオス・ミダス王)

Other Variations: Glittering King MidasJP

  • Adaptational Villainy: Went from a guy who was horrorified of his Midas Touch powers, to someone who intentionally uses them to turn people into gold statues in his story zone.

  • Chained by Fashion: Has a spiked belt keeping his mouth closed. Which explains why he never tries to talk.
  • Cool Crown
  • Early-Bird Cameo: His name is mentioned in the description of an item that was available since 2016.
  • Facial Markings: Has some golden marks over his cheeks.
  • Face–Monster Turn: Turned in to an antropomorphic donkey-like Chaos Teller by the Mirror Maiden.
  • Exploding Barrels: Glittering King Midas' Field Object, which is just a reharsh of Soldier Gorilla FO's.
  • Midas Touch: The troper namer himself. Though he never petrifies anyone in battle, only paralyses.
  • Upgraded Boss: Glitering King Midas, from the Boss Rush event "Glittering King".

    Deus Prometheus

    Chaos Haltière

Chaos Haltière (カオス・アルティエール)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cartiere.png

Weakness: None
Appears in: Grimms Notes Story Zone

  • Abusive Parents: She always treated Fam like dirt, and with full of contempt. A flashbacks shows Fam trying to apologize for being useless, but Haltière was having none of it and guilt-tripped Fam into thanking her for raising a terrible child. The abuse also extends to Noémie and Dorothée, who were part of the bullying too; once their incompetence in dealing with the party is made clear to Haltière, she proceeds to absorb their souls so she can get a power boost.
  • Arc Villain: She is the main antagonist of the subplot of Fam's family origins.
  • Blindfolded Vision: How does she even see with that mask covering her eyes?
  • Combat Hand Fan: Just like Kuzunoha, she uses this to perform her attacks.
  • The Dreaded: To Fam. She gets terrified to the point of being reduced to an apologetic dog in the presence of Haltière. Even her other two daughters are afraid of the prospect of failing to meet their mother's expectations.
  • Fireballs: Can throw a giant fire projectile with her fan.
  • Gonk: Implied to be one. The Ugly Duckling gets to see her without her mask while she is eating, which embarrasses Haltière. After she leaves, he notes how ugly she is.
  • Hate Sink: The game wastes no time showing the players how much of a spiteful bitch Haltière is. An Abusive Mom who is the source of many of Fam's traumas, watching Haltière receiving a "The Reason You Suck" Speech from Revol (connected with Morrigan), followed by an ass-kicking from the party is utterly satisfying.
  • Lean and Mean: She is one of the tallest characters from the game, and also an asshole towards her stepdaughter.
  • Playing with Fire: All of her skills involve fire and can inflict Burn.
  • Ordered Apology: Tries to force Fam to aplogize to her, stating that it is what children should do whenever they make mistakes.
  • Tornado Move: Creates fire tornadoes by swinging her fan.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: As soon as she sees how Noémie and Dorothée failed to put a stop on the party, Haltière summons them back to her mansion and absorbs their souls to get a power boost.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: The party abandons Haltière and her daughters on the Fifth Island following her defeat, and they are not seen again for the remainder of the game.

Chaos Andersen (カオス・アンデルセン)

First appearance: Part 1 (終局の世界・前編)
Weakness: None

  • Blow You Away: Kai creates a ranged tornado with his axe, which will also debuff the player's attack power.
  • Energy Weapon : The Fir Tree does this.
  • Body of Bodies: Gerda, Kai, a Tin Soldier, and a black-colored Fir Tree are protruding from his back. While they contribute in battle, it looks like they're giving Andersen's back and feet a hard time.
  • Informed Attribute: The party comments he has become an otherwordly hideous monster, and makes insane noises with his footsteps; Andersen still looks vaguely human, and during gameplay he just walks without making any noise... He's also as slow as a snail.

    Chaos Archteller

Three eyes
Six Eyes
First appearance: Part 2 (終局の世界・後編)
Weakness: None

  • Bolt of Divine Retribution: Can make the sky go darker (than it is already) and summon various lightning strikes to wherever the player is standing. If you happen to be behind him, he'll just fire it right in front.
  • The Faceless: At first. His eyes gradually appear while the party defeats each of his servants. By the time he's finally confronted, Chaos Archteller has six eyes on his face.
  • Final Boss: The final enemy you'll face in the game, and he's by far the HARDEST boss the game had to offer.
  • Fusion Dance: Chaos Archteller is the result of a fusion between... Well, Chaos and the Archteller.
  • No-Sell: No weaknesses, cannot be knocked back, nor be affected with status ailments.
  • Odd Friendship: In the end he decides to become friends with Chaos.
  • Our Centaurs Are Different: He resembles one, except he has six elephant-like legs covered in purple gaps, and doesn't even use them all to walk... Two of those are hanging right below his waist.
  • Pillar of Light: Back-jumps to the side of the battlefield to summon four of these through the whole screen.
  • Rooftop Confrontation: How to make a final battle more epic? By taking it place in the rooftop of a skycraper, of course!
  • Status Buff: Is able to buff both his attack power and the Nobodies' present.
  • The Voice: Doesn't have a visible body until he fuses with Chaos.
