    General

General

  • Bioweapon Beast: The Shoggoths. They lie dormant in the form of an egg until they are awoken by the Ocarina of Hypnosis instrument. Shoggoths have an insatiable appetite, getting stronger as they absorb mana from the humans they devour. In addition, they are immune to physical attacks, only being damaged by elemental attacks and divine energy. Worst of all, they corrupt the minds of the humans they touch, causing their victims to go into a murderous frenzy. And guess what? By playing longer notes on the Ocarina of Hypnosis instrument, Shoggoths evolve into something far more twisted and far more horrifying: Basilicos.
  • Creepy Centipedes: The Tartarus Worshippers keep Marked Bugs/Branded Worms that look like centipedes in their stomachs with them popping out of any available opening—whether it be the mouth or a gaping wound—once their hosts die.
  • Musical Assassin: The Ocarina of Hypnosis instruments allow for the complete control of both Shoggoths and Basilicos in addition to providing immunity to their <Mind Corruption>. Several Tartarus Worshippers just playing notes on the Ocarina of Hypnosis is enough to put everyone around them in severe danger.
  • No-Sell: The executives of the Tartarus Worshippers provided the members among the raid party Suspicious Potions, which momentarily disable the Slave Marks.
  • Religion of Evil: Seeing as the Tartarus Worshippers are actively trying to summon The God of Demons Tartarus and are wanting to destroy Earth, they definitely are this.
  • Revealing Skill: Any demonic skill reveals that the caster is a Tartarus Worshipper because the user has to have a Marked Bug in order to use said skill. Before obtaining the Potion of True Sight/Potion of Scrutiny, this—in addition to receiving a confession—was the only way to identify Tartarus Worshippers.
  • Right Under Their Noses: The Tartarus Worshippers use the fact that the Priests of Light do not monitor those who have the Slave Mark on them to infiltrate the Temple of Light.
  • The Symbiote: What the Marked Bugs are. In exchange for living inside of the Tartarus Worshippers' stomachs, the Marked Bugs grant enhanced strength while both groups grow stronger the more the Marked Bugs are used. And since the Mark of Tartarus is on the Marked Bugs and not on the Tartarus Worshippers themselves, this allows them to also use The Goddess of Light Aria's powers at the same time. And by using the Stone of Revelation, the user turns into a demon by resonating with the Marked Bug.
  • The Worf Effect: Despite being touted as tough and an elite group of troops trained for completing missions by Zephyr, the Tartarus Worshippers among the raid party members were taken out by Mathias within only 30 seconds after they were forced to attack him.

    Ned Stryer

    Jinryang of the East

Jinryang of the East

Click here to see him without his mask on

The Master of the Dragon King-Style Martial Arts who came from the East. Jinryang of the East crossed the Saraha Desert, a demon-controlled land inaccessible to humans, to Aslan and became the 9th-highest ranking Tartarus Worshipper and one of the twelve apostles. He took two official disciples with them being his own son Jingang and Ned Stryer in addition to Shadow Disciples like Leah Testarossa.

Tropes:

  • Awful Truth: That Jinryang of the East never intended to help Ned get his revenge in the first place and was going to dispose of him. And that Jinryang of the East never intended to help Leah find her long-lost little brother and, in fact, instead sent her to execute her little brother, Ned. Learning this shattered Ned's psyche, and will probably shatter Leah's psyche too once she finds out and actually believes the truth.
  • The Chessmaster: Plotted with Oldin to destroy the Stryer family so he could obtain both Ned and his older sister due to them both having martial bodies, which makes learning and mastering martial arts easy for them.
  • Connected All Along: To Persephone, with techniques being shared between them. Jinryang of the East was also the one who contributed to the fall of Persephone.
  • The Dragon: To Oldin in the previous timeline, after Polaris gave Oldin a very powerful item in the form of a demonic book for brainwashing the Holy One of Light and taking away the Dragon Heart. The book allowed Oldin to take Jinryang of the East as a subordinate and allowed him to grow a force so strong that even Duke Cesare Giornetti could do nothing about it.
  • Extra Eyes: Has a third yellow eye on his forehead that opens sideways.
  • Flash Step: As the Master of the Dragon King-Style Martial Arts, Jinryang of the East can move extremely quickly.
  • Hate Sink: Jinryang of the East’s repulsive actions have made him hated both in-universe and out-of-universe. Zephyr repeatedly cursed Jinryang of the East, and Ned’s admiration quickly turned to hate once he found out the truth. Given how much Leah loves her little brother, once she finds out—and believesthat Jinryang of the East sent her to murder her little brother and lied to her about helping her, she will most likely grow to hate him as well.
  • Icy Blue Eyes: Has chilling blue eyes to indicate how cold and calculating of a person he is.
  • Let's You and Him Fight: Sent Leah to execute the traitor of the Dragon King-Style Martial Arts. All without her knowing that said traitor is actually her long-lost little brother. Which Jinryang of the East knows.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Is a master manipulator who manipulated Ned into infiltrating the Third Parish of the Temple of Light to retrieve the Dragon Heart, and manipulated Leah into executing the traitor who is, unbeknownst to her, her long-lost little brother, which Jinryang of the East KNEW AND DID COMPLETELY ON PURPOSE.
  • The Master: Jinryang of the East is the Master of the Dragon King-Style Martial Arts and used them to rise to a high position among the Tartarus Worshippers, being the 9th-highest ranking member.
  • The Only One I Trust: Jinryang of the East told Ned that Ned was the only one he trusted to retrieve the Dragon Heart. Except not really. Also told Leah that she was the only one he trusted to execute the traitor, except said traitor turns out to be her own little brother.
  • Parental Substitute: After Jinryang of the East took Ned in, Ned considered him to be like a father. That was why Jinryang of the East's betrayal hurt so much.
  • Pride: Stopped Leah from freeing him due to his pride; he doesn't want to look more pathetic for escaping prison without proving his innocence first. Hopefully, his pride will be his downfall...
  • Shock and Awe: As the Master of the Dragon King-Style Martial Arts, Jinryang of the East has the ability to use electricity through explosive acceleration for both offense and defense.
  • The Sociopath: Jinryang of the East is a monstrous person who does whatever it takes to accomplish his goals, not caring the least bit for the lives he destroys. Examples include: plotting with Oldin to destroy the Stryer family to obtain both siblings due to their martial bodies; taking advantage of the shipwreck breaking down a young Leah's brain to then use poisonous incense to make her learn mnemonics that help the flow of mana, an operation that has a 90% mortality rate, all without her knowledge; let Leah think she was broken due to being unable to see faces even though he was responsible for her condition AND he intended for that to happen; keeping both siblings separate despite knowing they are siblings; lying to Ned about wanting to help him get revenge on Oldin; essentially sending Ned to his death when sending him to the Third Parish of the Temple of Light in the guise of an important mission only Ned could do, all because Jinryang of the East thought Ned became useless; lying to Leah about wanting to help her find her long-lost little brother; and ordering Leah to execute the traitor who, unbeknownst to her, IS her long-lost little brother. Jinryang of the East is truly a monster and once Leah finds out and believes the truth about him, hopefully she will loathe him with her entire being, just like Ned does.
  • Villainous Friendship: Seemed to have one with Oldin, with Oldin pouring wine for Jinryang of the East and them doing a toast as they discussed the demonified Crimson Moon Masha and Black Moon Ramiel fighting Blue Dragon Artalis.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: The reason why Jinryang of the East had Ned infiltrate the Temple of Light and retrieve the Dragon Heart; Ned was no longer useful to him. Which was why he allowed Oldin to have Ned killed after he comes back with the Dragon Heart.

    Jingang, Son of the East

Jingang, Son of the East

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jingang.PNG
Click here to see him without his mask on

Jinryang of the East's son and one of his official disciples. Jingang was the best among the Dragon King-Style Martial Arts disciples and was Ned Stryer's senior brother. Jinryang of the East personally trained both Jingang and Ned, and they sparred with each other to hone their skills. Ned considered Jingang to be his brother, but the same could not be said for Jingang...

Tropes:

  • Break the Haughty: After Jingang had been bound and debuffed, Altair taunted Jingang, mocking him for not putting enough thought into his party and for letting his guard down. Jingang roared with rage before Dariel executed him with an arrow to the head.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: In the previous timeline, Jingang was the one who found Ned while he was on the run with the Dragon Heart, beat Ned up, stole it from Ned, and left Ned to die.
  • False Friend: To Ned Stryer. Although Ned considered Jingang to be his own brother, Jingang secretly looked down on Ned, referring to him as the "Western Idiot" who was stubborn and refused the Marked Bug as well as thinking Ned was hopeless. No wonder Jingang had no difficulty in beating Ned within an inch of his life and leaving him for dead in the previous timeline.
  • Flash Step: Thanks to his mastery of the Dragon King-Style Martial Arts, Jingang can move extremely quickly. Altair and Kiara had to slow him down while Elise had to speed Dariel up in order to bridge the gap in speed between the two.
  • Icy Blue Eyes: Has chilling blue eyes to indicate how cold and calculating of a person he is.
  • Ironic Name: "Jingang", meaning "Strong Dragon". Jingang stood absolutely no chance against Altair and her party.
  • Narcissist: Thought of himself as the best and the most correct, and the only one who could become a dragon by attaining a mind and body trained using demonic energy.
  • Off with His Head!: How Jingang died. Dariel blew Jingang's head off with an arrow right as he cursed Altair out, leaving nothing but a bloody stump where it bad been.
  • Pride: Thought he was better and more right than anyone, such as Ned and even his own father.
  • Shock and Awe: As the top disciple the Dragon King-Style Martial Arts, Jingang has the ability to use electricity through explosive acceleration for both offense and defense.
  • Shock Stick: Wields a polearm, and can channel electricity through it to blast his foes.
  • Sir Swearsalot: Has the habit of swearing and calling people "idiots" quite a lot.
  • The Sociopath: Looks down on everyone and is grateful to no one. Despite having spent so much time with Ned, Jingang only ever held contempt for the "Western Idiot", which made it far too easy for Jingang to beat Ned up and leave him for dead in the previous timeline. Meanwhile, Jingang doesn't even respect his own father, thinking Jinryang of the East's desire to return to the East and to reclaim his throne as "nonsense", what with being a royal being useless once the era of demons comes upon the world.
  • You Shall Not Pass!: Tried to do this to Altair and her party as they were heading to the Third Parish of the Temple of Light from the Great Elfen Forest. He ambushed them, cutting off the feet of some of the horses before declaring that he will send them to the after life. However...
  • Underestimating Badassery: Instead of immediately attacking Altair and her party before they could activate any buff skills, Jingang attacked them after they had done so. Jingang wanted to test their powers, and thought he could have beaten them regardless. This led to his quick and effortless defeat. However, even if Jingang had immediately attacked Altair and her party before they could activate any buff skills, they had an ambush plan ready and raring to go, so the end result would probably have still been the same.
  • The Worf Effect: For how strong Jingang was made out to be, he was defeated quite quickly and effortlessly by Altair and her party. Altair used <Dark Hand> to absorb his health and mana as well as <Ghost> to slow him down and confuse him while Kiara bound him with <Steel Vines> which grew tougher the more mana it absorbed from the opponent, allowing Dariel—boosted by Elise's <Angel's Trumpet Song>—to keep up with Jingang and eventually shoot him dead.

The Leader of the Tartarus Worshippers and the highest ranking member. Polaris is also the eldest prince of the Kingdom of Cayenne and Altair's eldest brother in addition to being the youngest cardinal in the Temple of Light.

Tropes:

  • The Archmage: Seeing as Polaris completely ignored the skill usage restriction of Memera's Birdcage and destroyed it, he would also have to be an archmage like Eurydice. This makes sense, due to him also being Eurydice's descendant. He also proved his capabilities by instantaneously stopping Ned and Lucius before Ned could activate the Crow Cape and Lucius could activate Shard of Glory, significantly weakening them.
  • "Ass" in Ambassador: Purposefully worsened relations with the elves, to the point they initially didn’t trust Altair due to her being Polaris’s sister.
  • Battle of Wits: What Polaris engages Zephyr in after learning who Zephyr was. As Zephyr, Altair, and Lucius were announcing their participation in the Ice Dragon Raid, Polaris barged into the Third Parish of the Temple of Light in the guise of thanking Zephyr for his deeds. To make his thanking seem more sincere, Polaris brought the children who lost their families and homes to the undead of the Tomb of the Fallen Princess and the Danakil disaster, and had them sing. Polaris then proceeded to bring up Dungeon Law Article IV Section I, Section II, and Section III, which would have put Zephyr into legal trouble and made him susceptible to arrest...UNLESS Zephyr agrees to do everything without receiving a single penny in the name of The Goddess of Light Aria. Refute, and Zephyr gets into legal trouble once again. Accept, and lose all profits and turn off all investors. Polaris even went through all the trouble of personally asking his father, the king, to pardon Zephyr and got signatures from ten of the parishes of the Temple of Light to formally acknowledge that Zephyr's actions were a miracle from The Goddess of Light Aria and therefore could not be judged by formal laws. This caused all the investors to walk out as they would be unable to make any money back. Altair and Lucius were troubled by what Polaris did, but judging by Zephyr's expression, Polaris may have actually unintentionally helped Zephyr by making him even more famous and powerful with Zephyr only pretending to be angered by Polaris's intervention. Zephyr had a hard time holding in his laughter because Polaris fought Zephyr how humans fight via politics and pressuring with money instead of just outright killing Zephyr in addition to boosting Zephyr's reputation. Zephyr will make sure Polaris will regret missing his opportunity to kill Zephyr when he had the chance.
  • The Bet: Agreed to Zephyr's coin toss with the loser telling one thing the winner wants to hear, with him choosing "tails". Polaris wanted to know why Zephyr was chosen by The Goddess of Light despite not being a Holy One. However, the coin ended up being sliced in half with each half turned to each side, effectively making the bet a draw.
  • Black Magic: Thanks to being the Leader of the Tartarus Worshippers, Polaris has a vast array of powerful dark magical skills at his disposal.
  • Bloody Horror: While Altair and Polaris were younger, she found him drenched in blood and kneeling over the person he had just killed. She ran away in absolute terror as a fiendish hand shot out towards her while frantically shouting that that's not him in her head. Now whether he was possessed that day or her illusions of him were simply shattered...
  • Blue Blood: After coming of age, Polaris was given the title of Grand Duke of Lindell due to being next in line to the throne. However, he gave up his right of succession to become a Priest of Light and returned the Grand Duke of Lindell title to the nation.
  • Connected All Along: Polaris is the descendant of Eurydice and Georgios, two of The Twelve Heroes who fought against the demons a thousand years ago and the Fallen Princess and the Gatekeeper of the Tomb of the Fallen Princess, respectively. After Zephyr purified Eurydice, she transplanted the Dragon Heart into him and after Zephyr defeated and purified Georgios, he took Georgios's sword Gram and the dragon slayer's armor. Polaris is also the eldest brother of Altair Justina Cayenne, Zephyr's lover in their previous and current lives, in addition to being the cousin of Lucius Giornetti, the current Holy One of Light/Saint of Light.
  • Curse: Polaris is very adept at casting curses, as seen with his <Ring of Curses> skill simultaneously casting Curse of Disease, Curse of Pain, and Curse of Decomposition on Ned, Lucius, and Bishop Alfonso, forcing Zephyr to use the Sword of Light and <Yehi Or (Let There Be Light)> to break the curses.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Despite him being the Leader of the Tartarus Worshippers, Polaris still seemed to genuinely love his sister Altair dearly.
  • Evil All Along: Seems to be an upright prince who gave up his right to the throne to serve The Goddess of Light Aria, but in reality, Polaris is the Leader of the Tartarus Worshippers who seek to summon The God of Demons to bring an end to the world.
  • Fake Ultimate Hero: Is this to the people of Aslan. Polaris is the precious star of Aslan who is beloved by all from a young age because of his looks and intelligence...but that is only an act he puts up. In reality, Polaris is the Leader of the Tartarus Worshippers who wishes to summon The God of Demons Tartarus and put an end to the world.
  • Fatal Flaw: Polaris thinking he is human and therefore fighting like one. Because of that, Polaris prefers to beat his opponents via politics and pressuring them with money—which is how humans fight—instead of just outright killing them. Polaris could have just killed Zephyr in the Third Parish of the Temple of Light, but didn't because he thought he had already beaten Zephyr by forcing Zephyr to funnel all profits to Polaris's foundation, which was meant to kill Zephyr's party via making them unable to afford the piling expenses. That was why Zephyr had a hard time holding in his laughter.
  • Good Armor, Evil Armor: Wears evil armor while acting as the Leader of the Tartarus Worshippers complete with Spikes of Villainy, Shoulders of Doom, and a Black Cloak.
  • The Hedonist: In the previous timeline, Polaris spent years enjoying his double life, which was why Zephyr was originally not too concerned with eliminating Oldin and the Twin Knights in the current timeline. Too bad Zephyr did not count for curiosity winning out. However, even in the current timeline, Polaris STILL wants to enjoy his double life, which was part of the reason he had backed off after Zephyr had seemingly agreed to his proposal.
  • Heroic Lineage: Is descended from The Grand Sorceress Princess Eurydice and The Knight Georgios, two of The Twelve Heroes. Too bad he is actively working against them as the current Leader of the Tartarus Worshippers.
  • Living Lie Detector: Polaris has a mana detection skill that allows him to discern if someone is lying or not. That was how he knew that Zephyr really knew his identity.
  • The Mentor: Seemed to act like one to Cardinal Oldin Lasker, giving him advice on how to best use his Marked Bug to grow stronger.
  • Mundane Made Awesome: Normally, a coin toss should be as simple as flipping a coin and calling a side. However, Polaris ended up fiercely fighting Zephyr as Zephyr tried to change the side the coin landed on.
  • No-Sell: Thanks to the <Ancient Dragon's Shadow> skill, Polaris greatly reduces the stats of whomever he catches while also preventing the targets from using mana or skills. Because of this, Ned could not use the Crow Cape and Lucius could not use Shard of Glory while under his grasp.
  • Orcus on His Throne: Despite being immensely powerful and being able to wipe out countless people without breaking a sweat, Polaris decided to completely leave The Apocalypse Plan to the twelve apostles and didn't even care that Oldin was eliminated as long as a replacement could be found and that The Apocalypse Plan would still be brought to fruition. For now, at least...
  • Playing Both Sides: Is both the Leader of the Tartarus Worshippers and the youngest cardinal in the Temple of Light.
  • The Promise: Due to the coin being sliced in half with each half turned to each side, Polaris agreed to not kill Zephyr's companions in exchange for Zephyr not revealing his identity, with the <Oath Ring> skill cast to enforce the promise with the one who breaks the promise losing one of his senses for a month. However, Zephyr gets around this by indirectly telling Ned and Lucius the Leader of the Tartarus Worshippers's identity.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Has red eyes, and is a terrifying enemy.
  • The Sociopath: Polaris Albert Cayenne is a monstrous person who does whatever it takes to accomplish his goals, not caring the least bit for the lives he destroys. Examples include: being the Leader of the Tartarus Worshippers, who want to destroy the world; coaxing Black Moon Ramiel and Crimson Moon Masha—the very two he had defeated just earlier—into demonifying, all as an elaborate plan to pollute Danakil; not caring much while Oldin, one of the twelve apolstles, was being brutally tortured and only wanting to see if the Sword Saint—the Tartarus Worshippers's highest target—had intervened; not even considering how shaken Elfriede would be upon hearing of Oldin's death; using the children who survived the very disaster he had caused and lost everything to, all because of him to make himself look better; and essentially threatening Zephyr with arrest if Zephyr does not agree to doing everything without receiving a single penny in return, chasing off all potential investors.
  • Stealth Insult: Stealthily insulted Zephyr by saying there was nothing more Zephyr could do as a petty thief since he now has a high position in society, and insinuated that Zephyr could not have known that due to never having had such a position before. However, Zephyr was not insulted at all, having to do all he could to avoid breaking into laughter at Polaris's mistake.
  • Strong and Skilled: Has both IMMENSE magical powers and a vast array of skills that make Polaris a REALLY deadly foe.
  • Superpowerful Genetics: Polaris also inherited his ancestor Eurydice's magic, which was part of the reason why he proved to be such a formidable foe to Zephyr, Ned, and Lucius.
  • Theme Naming: Members born into the Cayenne Imperial Family are named after stars and constellations. For insurance, Polaris and Altair are named after the Polaris and Altair stars while King Leo III is named after the Leo constellation. This doubles as Meaningful Name, since Polaris and Altair are the brightest stars in their respective constellations—Ursa Minor/Little Dipper and Aquila respectively—while the Leo constellation was well-known in most ancient cultures and is reminiscent of the shape of Aslan itself…a lion. This highlights the importance all three will have for the future of Aslan, whether for better or for worse.
  • Tome of Eldritch Lore: Gave a very powerful item in the form of a demonic book to Oldin in the previous timeline for brainwashing the Holy One of Light and taking away the Dragon Heart. The book allowed Oldin to take Jinryang of the East as a subordinate and allowed him to grow a force so strong that even Duke Cesare Giornetti could do nothing about it.
  • Underestimating Badassery: No longer thinks of Zephyr as a serious opponent because Zephyr made Polaris believe that he doesn't know how to use the Dragon Hearts; Polaris thinks of Zephyr as a stupid peasant for supposedly not knowing the truth of the world. Polaris not only underestimated Zephyr, he got drunk on the taste of authority after years of playing human and was sure he had already won. Zephyr will make sure Polaris regrets not killing him that day.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: Polaris is beloved by the people of Aslan and is looked up to by countless people. He has such good publicity, he was able to get ten parishes of the Temple of Light to formally acknowledge that Zephyr's actions were a miracle from The Goddess of Light Aria and therefore could not be judged by formal laws. He did that to make himself look charitable while making Zephyr and his party unable to profit from any raids they do.
  • Visionary Villain: All that Polaris does is to summon The God of Demons Tartarus to destroy the world, and thwart any attempts at stopping him. Polaris keeps his stellar image and uses his countless connections to help in that goal, all while keeping most from suspecting anything is amiss...until it's too late.
  • White Magic: Thanks to being a Priest of Light, Polaris also has access to a vast array of holy magic. While acting as a cardinal, Polaris exclusively uses his holy magic and only uses dark magic while disguised by his armor.
  • Why Don't You Just Shoot Him?: Could have easily killed Zephyr while in the Third Parish of the Temple of Light, but chose not to due to being drunk on the taste of authority after years of playing human and was sure he had already won.

    Elfriede

Elfriede

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/elfriede.PNG

The Vice Leader of the Tartarus Worshippers and the 2nd-highest ranking member. Elfriede is the head of the twelve apostles, who are all in charge of carrying out The Apocalypse Plan.

Tropes:

  • The Dragon: To Polaris, the Leader of the Tartarus Worshippers.
  • The Immune: Seems to be immune to all poisons, seeing as she tasted the Belial smeared on the side of Oldin's carriage without anything happening to her, despite Oldin doubling over in immense pain seconds after just getting a little onto his fingertips. In addition, in the previous timeline, Elfriede was able to retrieve Blue Dragon Artalis's Dragon Heart and the demonified Black Moon Ramiel's mana stone without suffering any negative effects from the latter's amplified poison.
  • Plague Doctor: Elfriede's mask is based off of a plague doctor's.
  • Special Attack: In the previous timeline, by using Black Moon Ramiel's mana stone, Elfriede could use Black Moon Ramiel's Exclusive Skill: <Venom Spear>. Using Black Moon Ramiel's mana stone, Elfriede could condense poison into a powerful spear that can even pierce a dragon's scales. Thanks to her usage of that skill, in the current timeline, Zephyr knew of its effects and that by using <Venom Spear>, Black Moon Ramiel would be purifying the Tree of Life and the Lake of Life.
  • Wrong Assumption: Assumed that Jinryang of the East, Lucius, and the Tarantula who recently joined the Tartarus Worshippers were in cahoots after examining the area near Oldin's carriage in addition to where the Silver Knight last was at. She also assumed that the Third Parish of the Temple of Light had the Dragon Heart due to it being protected by a curtain skill with entry and exit being restricted, in addition to assuming the Real Shadow Disciple was involved due to her happening to be nearby.

The Real Shadow Disciple and Ned's long-lost older sister. She was thought dead by Ned after a typhoon hit the ship she and their mother were on, but actually survived and was taken in by Jinryang of the East and was also taught the Dragon King-Style Martial Arts. She rose to become one of the twelve apostles of the Tartarus Worshippers in the previous timeline. In the current timeline, after Ned's defection, Jinryang of the East made Leah into an official disciple and ordered her to execute the traitor, all without her knowing that said traitor is actually her long-lost little brother.

Tropes:

  • Samus Is a Girl: The Real Shadow Disciple is a woman and not a man.
  • Rank Up: Leah was promoted from "Shadow Disciple" to "official disciple".
  • All Men Are Perverts: Leah seems to think so. When Zephyr entered her cell after she attempted to seduce him, she thought she had succeeded, thinking all men are easy. Too bad Zephyr was completely unfazed by her attempted seduction with it only igniting the rage and hatred he held towards Leah ever since she threw him away in their previous lives.
  • Appearance Is in the Eye of the Beholder: Leah cannot see people's faces, except her own. Instead, she sees symbols and arrows where the features would be. Leah believes that she will be able to see her younger brother's face since he looks like her, which is why she did not initially believe Ned when he said he is her younger brother due to being unable to see his face.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: A HUGE part of the reason why Leah has so much Undying Loyalty towards Jinryang of the East. Leah never forgot Jinryang of the East's "kindness" when he dressed the wounds she received from the shipwreck and took care of her while she was going insane from the darkness, telling her she was not useless despite being "broken". Jinryang of the East personally taught her the Dragon King-Style Martial Arts and "promised" to look for her brother. Of course, if she were to ever learn of and believe the truth...
  • Dark Action Girl: Is VERY strong and will ruthlessly kill enemies with a smile on her face.
  • Dead Person Impersonation: Took on Mathias Grimmer’s form through <Transfiguration> in an attempt to fool the people gathered before the Third Parish of the Temple of Light into thinking Lucius had committed blasphemy and therefore justifying a siege.
  • Disability Superpower: With the shipwreck having broken down Leah's brain and Jinryang of the East then using poisonous incense to make her learn mnemonics that help the flow of mana, Leah lost the ability to see faces, yet gained the ability to see symbols and arrows where the features would be, which act as guides that can be used for her own <Transfiguration>. This was why Leah was immune to the Blessing of the Elf Queen: except for she herself, she does not see humans as humans.
  • Dissonant Laughter: Laughed manically after Ophelia had foiled her scheme in front of the Third Parish of the Temple of Light, congratulating Ophelia for foiling not one but two or her plans.
  • Dramatic Irony: Both Ned and Leah were technically together for years and could have been reunited at any moment, but weren't due to 1) Ned thinking Leah was dead and 2) Leah forgetting all about Ned. And that Shadow Disciples are meant to be hidden from everyone and Jinryang of the East did not want them to be reunited so he could continue to use them separately for his own bidding.
  • Easy Sex Change: Leah can easily change her gender. Combined with her <Configuration> skill, this makes it even harder to know who she actually is.
  • First Love: To Zephyr. In the previous timeline, Leah was Zephyr's first love and he did whatever she wanted in hopes of them being able to be together. Too bad Leah was only using Zephyr and threw him away once she no longer had use for him. Leah—and all the other bad people who had also used and deceived Zephyr—hurt Zephyr so badly that he told himself that he would never trust anyone ever again. However, in that dark world full of lies, Altair was the only one who ever showed him honesty in the form of actions instead of words that can be easily fabricated. That earned Zephyr's eternal devotion and love, and Zephyr will only ever pick Altair no matter how many times he might start over.
  • Flash Step: Thanks to her mastery of the Dragon King-Style Martial Arts, Leah can move extremely quickly.
  • Humans Are Bastards: What Leah seems to think. After successfully fooling the Heroic-Grade holy relic <Themis's Judgement>, she contemplated that the situation before her could only be described as a comedy; that if reporting the Holy One could be considered blasphemy, threatening the Holy One by surrounding him could also be considered blasphemy. She thought of the people surrounding the Third Parish of the Temple of Light as hypocrites who have forsaken their respect for the Holy One and their faith for the sake of money and were just waiting for someone else to violently open the gates on their behalf, a group of cowardly beasts. In fact, she thought they should be grateful for her appearance since as Mathias, they would have the perfect excuse to finally storm the Third Parish of the Temple of Light.
  • Lady of War: Leah is very cunning and is a force to be reckoned with.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Doesn't remember Ned, seeing as she referred to him as "Master's Disciple" instead of "Ned" or "little brother", due to being in a shipwreck thirteen years prior to the start of the story. She forgot her little brother's name and appearance, and even forgot her own name. The only reason she knows her first name is because of the pendant Ned had gifted her for her birthday, and the only reason she knows that she has a little brother is because "noona" (누나) is used by males when addressing older women.
  • Long-Lost Relative: Is this to Ned Stryer as his long-lost older sister.
  • Immune to Mind Control: The Blessing of the Elf Queen did not work on Leah, yet it was not a curse-type skill that caused her condition. It's because thanks to the shipwreck having broken down Leah's brain and Jinryang of the East then using poisonous incense to make her learn mnemonics that help the flow of mana, Leah lost the ability to see faces. One of the conditions to activate the Blessing of the Elf Queen is maintaining eye contact with the target, but since she didn't see Ned's eyes as eyes, she didn't even know what she was looking at and therefore the conditions could not be fulfilled.
  • Malicious Slander: Under the guise of Mathias Grimmer, she slandered Lucius. "Mathias" claimed that Lucius attacked and abandoned his party to hide the fact that he would use the investors' profits to steal the Dragon Heart and joined hands with Ned Stryer, a Tartarus Worshipper, to help him do that. Leah did it to spur those gathered in front of the Third Parish of the Temple of Light into attacking.
  • Master of Disguise: Leah's <Transfiguration> skill is so good, she can fool people she had just been speaking to and disappear from their memory. For instance, when Leah took on Mathias Grimmer's form, everyone who had gathered in front of the Third Parish of the Temple of Light had been fooled. Even Lucius himself would have been fooled...had he not killed Mathias himself and watched as Mathias crumbled to dust. Too bad it doesn't work against Ophelia, who is not affected by any stealth skills.
  • Meaningful Name: "Smiling Woman", due to easily being able to blend in with her advanced stealth skills and with how much she smiles. Also, her new last name Testarossa, which means "redhead" in Italian, due to Leah being a redhead.
  • Name Amnesia: Forgot her own name due to the shipwreck. The only reason she knows her first name is because of the pendant Ned had gifted her for her birthday. Leah received the "Testarossa" last name from the family that had taken her in, and has no recollection of her prior family name "Stryer". Which is why Ned's last name "Stryer" doesn't resonate with her.
  • Not Brainwashed: Turns out that even after learning about the truth in the previous timeline, Leah still did not leave the Tartarus Worshippers. That was probably due to her Undying Loyalty towards Jinryang of the East, and her heeding his "warning" about how everyone is out to deceive her.
  • Out-Gambitted: By Fade. Leah had originally planned on retreating by changing her whole energy and stealing someone's cloak after escaping Ophelia, but what Leah hadn't anticipated was that although she can change her appearance, she cannot change her scent. Which was what Fade took advantage of by splattering her with a unique-smelling poison as they were fighting earlier.
  • Perpetual Smiler: Leah is rarely seen without a smile on her face. Which is how she got the "Smiling Woman" name.
  • Shock and Awe: Thanks to her mastery of the Dragon King-Style Martial Arts, Leah gained the ability to use electricity through explosive acceleration for both offense and defense.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Ned and his sister share a strong resemblance, which was why Ophelia was so suspicious of him due to his sister being the real Shadow Disciple.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Has no respect for Elfriede, despite her being the head of the twelve apostles and the Vice Leader of the Tartarus Worshippers. Also has no respect for Oldin, ruthlessly destroying his information network and leaving no survivors.
  • Treachery Is a Special Kind of Evil: Leah seems to think so. The reason she desired to kill Ned so deeply was because he betrayed Jinryang of the East, reasons be damned. However, if Leah were to ever learn the reason of Ned's defection and remember who Ned is, she will most certainly understand Ned's betrayal and will even join him once she actually believes Ned.
  • Truth Serums: Forced to ingest one by Ned and/or Fade to find out more about the Tarantula. However, Leah truly knew nothing about him.
  • Undying Loyalty: To Jinryang of the East, for never forgetting his promise to help her find her long-lost little brother and to help her regain everything. In fact, as her first act as an official disciple, Leah was about to break Jinryang of the East out of prison...only for him to stop her, saying she had to consider his pride and that he would look more pathetic if he escaped without proving his innocence. Even after being captured and being forced to confess all she knew via Truth Serum, Leah still wanted to escape, all in hopes of freeing her precious mentor. Hopefully, Leah's undying loyalty towards Jinryang of the East will shatter once she learns and believes the truth: that Jinryang of the East never intended to actually help her and was actually sending her to execute her own little brother.
  • Unsettling Gender-Reveal: Once Ned's <Falling Lightning> had dispersed Leah's flow of mana and caused her womanly attributes to be visible once more, everyone gathered outside the Third Parish of the Temple of Light were horrified and demanded to know who she actually is.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: She used to be a sweet girl who doted on her little brother Ned, promising to bring him a present after coming back from the voyage she and their mother were going on. Currently, she seems to be a cold and calculating woman hellbent on fulfilling her mission, despite her smiling all the time. However, this is due to her losing her memories, and she wants to regain them and meet her lost family.
  • Vibration Manipulation: Has perfect control over her muscles and acting out certain emotions to the point she can fool the Heroic-Grade holy relic <Themis's Judgement> into thinking "Mathias" was telling the truth.

    Mathias Grimmer

Mathias Grimmer

Click here to see his demon form

Senior Inquisitor at the Temple of Light and long-time friend of Lucius Giornetti. Mathias was also the 36th-highest ranking Tartarus Worshipper and secretly resented Lucius, wanting to take him down.

Tropes:

  • The Assimilator: Used the <Power Drain>/<Seizure> skill to rip out the Marked Bugs from the Tartarus Worshippers who disguised themselves as priests and absorb their power.
  • Battle-Halting Duel: Tried to invoke this on Lucius, promising to tell Lucius everything he wanted to know while in actuality using it to buy time as he secretly signaled for the Tartarus Worshippers who posed as slaves to drink their Suspicious Potions and attack Lucius. Too bad Lucius didn't fall for it.
  • Betrayal Insurance: Mathias kept all the letters Cardinal Oldin Lasker sent him instead of burning them like he was supposed to just in case Cardinal Oldin Lasker would betray him. Zephyr would later find these letters and give them to Lucius so he could use them as evidence of Cardinal Oldin Lasker's heresy.
  • Childhood Friends: With Lucius Giornetti. They were friends since they entered the academy at the age of 12, and have been friends for twenty years. At least Lucius thought.
  • Curbstomp Battle: Was on the receiving end of one by Lucius before handing one to Lucius after becoming a demon, until Lucius used Shard of Glory.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: Mathias was betrayed by Zephyr and Ned after Zephyr activated the device that rearranges the Tomb of the Fallen Princess's layout. Mathias also did this to Lucius after Lucius realized he was a Tartarus Worshipper.
  • Demon of Human Origin: By using the Stone of Revelation, Mathias permanently changed from a human to a demon.
  • False Friend: In reality, Mathias resented Lucius during the entire duration of their friendship because Lucius robbed him of his potential to be a Holy One.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Mathias became extremely jealous of Lucius after The Goddess of Light Aria gave Lucius her stigmata at the age of 7 without having to do anything, robbing him of his chance to get it.
  • Half the Man He Used to Be: After Lucius activated Shard of Glory, he tore numerous holes into Mathias, vaporizing most of Mathias's body.
  • I Shall Taunt You: Was quite fond of taunting Lucius after becoming a demon and turning the tables against Lucius.
  • The Inquisitor General: As a Senior Inquisitor in the Temple of Light, Mathias qualified as this. However, he actually used his position to help his fellow Tartarus Worshippers infiltrate the Temple of Light.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Mathias may have been awful for betraying Lucius by becoming a Tartarus Worshipper and by becoming a demon, but Mathias made a good point when he pointed out that the Temple of Light was also evil for profiteering from the Dungeon Bubble Break and leading many of the people who were scammed to commit suicide.
  • No Body Left Behind: When Mathias died in demon form, instead of leaving a corpse, his body disintegrated into nothingness.
  • Our Demons Are Different: Mathias's demon form seems to be of a vaguely Abrahamic nature with horns, hooves, and a tail.
  • Playing Both Sides: Mathias's goal was to rise in the ranks in both the Temple of Light and with the Tartarus Worshippers.
  • Screw Destiny: Mathias did not want to follow the fate the gods determined for him. Which was why he became a Tartarus Worshipper in the first place and had no qualms with becoming a demon upon realizing he could not fight his fate as a human.
  • Status-Buff Dispel: As a demon, the dark energy that surrounds him negates all status buffs such as Battle Light.
  • White Magic: As a priest in the Temple of Light, Mathias can use divine/light magic. And as a Tartarus Worshipper with a Marked Bug in his stomach, he can also use dark magic.
  • The Worf Effect: Mathias's swift defeat at the hands of Lucius while still a human highlighted the difference between a Holy One's and a normal person's powers, and his second defeat after becoming a demon at the hands of Lucius upon Lucius activating Shard of Glory demonstrated the power of that skill.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Mathias had absolutely no problems with killing the Tartarus Worshippers who posed as slaves after they were forced to attack him. In addition, after becoming a demon, instead of letting the Tartarus Worshippers who disguised themselves as priests help him, Mathias instead harvested their Marked Bugs, killing them in the process.

    Cardinal Oldin Lasker

Cardinal Oldin Lasker

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/oldin.PNG
Click here to see his demon form

A cardinal in the Temple of Light and bishop of the Fourth Parish, with several responsibilities both there and in the Central Parish. Cardinal Oldin Lasker is also one of the twelve apostles of the Tartarus Worshippers and is the 11th-highest ranking member.

Tropes:

  • Acid Attack: In his demon form, Oldin can use his insects' digestive fluids to attack enemies.
  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: After Zephyr first attacked him, Oldin begged for his life, offering to pay Zephyr increasing sums of money and to grant favors. However, it was all a ruse to buy time for the Silver Knight Pollux to come. Too bad it didn't work out.
  • Arch-Enemy: Is this to Ned Stryer.
  • Asshole Victim: Let's be honest...Oldin deserved every bit of the torture and humiliation Zephyr and Ned inflicted on him.
  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: Oldin has a huge Queen Bug/Queen Worm inside of him, and his demon form is basically a huge amalgamated mass of worms.
  • Blue Blood: The Lasker family carries the title of Marquess, making its members nobility who carry tremendous influence.
  • Body Horror: What Oldin's demon form is. However, Oldin also displays this trope in his human form, as seen when after Sister Claudia snatched his arm and after first being poisoned with Belial.
  • Cassandra Truth: That Zephyr was deceiving Ned. Ned believed that Oldin was lying to him until Ophelia revealed who the real Shadow Disciple was. Oldin was right, but not for the right reasons.
  • The Chessmaster: Oldin was the one who manipulated the succession of the Hugo/Vigo family line so he could get the Twin Knights to become his subordinates and gain their complete trust by making it seem like he was on their side.
  • Choosing Neutrality: Cardinal Oldin Lasker purposefully chose to remain neutral in the battle between the various factions within the Temple of Light so he would have no enemies. Said neutrality makes him so valuable, the other cardinals at the Temple of Light would protect him even if he was the leader of the Tartarus Worshippers and not just one of the twelve apostles, all to get his neutral vote for the upcoming papal election.
  • Decapitation Presentation: What Zephyr did to Oldin's head while presenting it to Bishop Alfonso and Lucius after encasing it in Memera's Birdcage, which makes skill usage impossible for those trapped within and preserves the state they were in when put inside.
  • Demon of Human Origin: By using the Stone of Revelation five years prior to the start of the story, Oldin permanently changed from a human to a demon. However, thanks to his <Imitation>/<Mimicry> skill, Oldin can still take on a human form.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: Oldin had absolutely no problems with tricking Ned's father, Leonard Stryer, into investing in dungeon-related financial products even as they were becoming worthless, causing Leonard to lose everything once the Dungeon Bubble Break happened.
  • False Friend: Cardinal Oldin Lasker used his closeness with Leonard to convince him to offer up his baron title and manor as collateral. When Leonard flew out in a rage for being deceived, Oldin had the Twin Knights execute him in front of his own son without a second thought, even mocking Leonard in his final moments.
  • Fate Worse than Death: Let's see...being brutally tortured, being forced to confess everything he knew about the Tartarus Worshippers during said brutal torture, being Ned's punching bag, being beheaded, having his severed head kept alive in Memera's Birdcage, having said severed head being presented to his enemies, having said severed head being forcibly taken over by the Leader of the Tartarus Worshippers before finally being allowed to die after the possession was over...yeah, outright death would have been a MUCH kinder fate.
  • Hate Sink: Cardinal Oldin Lasker’s repulsive actions have made him hated both in-universe and out-of-universe. Zephyr judged that Oldin needed to be killed to prevent the numerous tragedies Oldin had caused in the previous timeline, and Ned experienced immense catharsis while torturing Oldin. Lucius was more-than-okay with Oldin being killed due to Oldin being a Tartarus Worshipper with Oldin taking his wife and child hostage and being about to feed his wife a Princess Bug definitely contributing. Bishop Alfonso, a previously close friend of Oldin, reacted with disgust when presented Oldin’s head, demanding it be burned due to being dangerous.
  • Healing Factor: Thanks to his powerful regeneration abilities, Oldin can heal from almost any wound including nearly being cut in half, being cut into pieces, and being struck by lightning. In fact, due to how quickly and often he can regenerate, he became known as "Immortal Oldin". Too bad Zephyr uses this against him while testing the power of the Dragon Heart on him and gathering data about demons.
  • Hostage Situation: Oldin held Lucius's wife Sister Claudia and son Marius hostage to stop him from attacking Oldin and to convince him to ingest a Princess Bug.
  • I Have Your Wife: After taking Lucius's wife and son hostage, Oldin displayed Claudia right in front of Lucius and held a knife to her neck. He was also about to shove a Princess Bug down her throat only for Ned to stab Oldin in the back with Ned lacerating him and saving Claudia.
  • I Shall Taunt You: In Leonard Stryer's final moments, Oldin told Leonard that he would have had Ned executed as well had Leonard's sword touched him.
  • Insane Troll Logic: Genuinely believed that Ned should have been grateful to him for sending Ned to Jinryang of the East and paying for Ned to be raised while other children starved, became slaves, or were eaten. That he was Ned's savior. Forgetting the fact that he was the one who had stolen everything from Ned's family and had Ned's father murdered in the first place. Ned rightfully tortured Oldin further upon hearing this.
  • Knowledge Broker: Had numerous Contact Points where his subordinates, who were perfectly loyal to him due to his insects controlling them, would send information to him and pass on Oldin's orders to other subordinates. Thanks to his extensive information network, he had excellent intel that he used to play politics and attain a high rank within the Tartarus Worshippers. However, after Oldin was killed, the insects went berserk, leading to the deaths of their hosts. Oh, and Leah Testarossa, the real Shadow Disciple, made sure to finish the job.
  • Loophole Abuse: Although Leonard never offered up Blood Tears as collateral, Oldin was able to take it anyways since Blood Tears belonged to the "Baron Stryer" family, and Oldin convinced Leonard to give up the "Baron Stryer" title.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Manipulated the Twin Knights into becoming his loyal subordinates by playing with the line of succession in the Hugo family, and sealed the deal with honeyed words that made them feel significant and gave them purpose after he himself deprived them of such. For those he cannot manipulate with words, Oldin will resort to mind control via his insects.
  • Our Demons Are Different: Unlike Mathias's demon form, which was of a vaguely Abrahamic nature, Oldin's demon form more resembles an Eldritch Abomination.
  • Out-Gambitted: Oldin might have thought he had planned for every possible situation regarding the Dragon Heart, but he did not plan—and could not have planned—for one: the existence of Zephyr.
  • Playing Both Sides: Oldin holds high positions in both the Temple of Light and with the Tartarus Worshippers, being a cardinal and the bishop of the Fourth Parish while also being one of the twelve apostles and the 11th-highest ranking Tartarus Worshipper.
  • Psychic Link: Thanks to the <Queen's Message> skill, as a holder of a Queen Bug/Queen Worm, Oldin can transmit his voice and location to the holders of the Princess Bugs/Princess Worms, like the Golden Knight and the Silver Knight.
  • Puppeteer Parasite: Oldin uses the larvae of his Queen Bug to control people by forcing them to ingest the larvae. However, after Zephyr and/or Ned killed the Queen Bug, the brainwashing was completely undone.
  • Sadistic Choice: Tried to invoke one on Lucius by making him choose who would ingest the Princess Bug: his wife, his son, or he himself. Naturally, Lucius chose himself, but Oldin was about to feed it to his wife anyways...until Ned intervened.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: After losing the hostages, Oldin fled from Lucius. Later on, after being overwhelmed by Zephyr's <Dragonification>, Oldin in his demon form tried to fly away only to be caught.
  • The Sociopath: Cardinal Oldin Lasker is a monstrous person who does whatever it takes to accomplish his goals, not caring the least bit for the lives he destroys. Examples include: plotting with Jinryang of the East to destroy the Stryer family; tricking his supposed-to-be close friend Leonard Stryer into ruining his and his family's lives by putting up his manor and the "Baron Stryer" title as collatoral for investments that Oldin knew were terrible; having the Twin Knights murder Leonard right in front of his own son; destroying countless other lives during the Dungeon Bubble Break; taking over the Third Parish of the Temple of Light and force-feeding Marked Bugs to the priests, including Bishop Alfonso, another supposed-to-be close friend, in order to control them; trying to feed Marius a Marked Bug despite him being just a baby and therefore of no help; holding Claudia hostage and threatening to stab her in the neck; forcing Lucius to make a Sadistic Choice of either eating a Princess Bug or watching as he fed it to either his wife or his child; was going to feed it to Claudia anyways all while Lucius watched in horror; brainwashed Lucius in the previous timeline and forced Lucius to commit countless heinous acts; and told Ned that Ned should have been grateful to him for sending Ned to Jinryang of the East and that he was actually Ned's savior. Cardinal Oldin Lasker is truly a monster and deserved every last bit of humiliating punishment and torment Zephyr and Ned had subjected him to.
  • Spell My Name With An S: Depending on the translation, his name may be spelled as either "Oldin" or "Aldean".
  • Strong and Skilled: Despite his age and appearance, Oldin isn't weak; in reality, Oldin had been a demon for five years prior to the start of the story and uses his bugs to take on a human form. He can use his bugs in a variety of ways, from mimicry to defense to offense. Too bad he was no match for Zephyr.
  • Too Important to Walk: The reason why Oldin usually leaves most of the fighting to the Twin Knights? Because he doesn't want to show anyone his demon form.
  • Tome of Eldritch Lore: Polaris gave a very powerful item in the form of a demonic book to Oldin in the previous timeline for brainwashing the Holy One of Light and taking away the Dragon Heart. The book allowed Oldin to take Jinryang of the East as a subordinate and allowed him to grow a force so strong that even Duke Cesare Giornetti could do nothing about it.
  • Unwitting Test Subject: Instead of killing Oldin immediately after overpowering him using <Dragonification>, Zephyr decided to continuously hack him into pieces to learn more about demons.
  • Villain Respect: To Zephyr for withstanding his onslaught...until Zephyr revealed he was only using 1% of the Dragon Heart's power and proceeded to use the <Dragonification> skill.
  • Villainous Friendship: Seemed to have one with Jinryang of the East, with Oldin pouring wine for Jinryang of the East and them doing a toast as they discussed the demonified Crimson Moon Masha and Black Moon Ramiel fighting Blue Dragon Artalis. Which was probably why Oldin was so enraged at the mere thought of Jinryang of the East potentially betraying him.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifter: Thanks to the <Imitation> skill, Oldin can easily change between human and demon forms. He can also use said skill to change parts of his body into weapons and to harden his skin.
  • Wrong Assumption: Thanks to Oldin not knowing about Zephyr, Oldin concluded that the only reason his numerous plans failed was because Jinryang of the East lied to and betrayed him.
  • You Killed My Father: One of the main reasons for Ned's immense hatred against Oldin and the Twin Knights. Which is why Zephyr wanted to make sure Ned had the perfect revenge.

    The Golden Knight

The Golden Knight

Click here to see him without his armor

The Golden/Gold Knight Castor Hugo/Castor Vigo is one of the ten strongest people in Aslan and is the older of the Twin Knights. He is the 20th-highest ranking Tartarus Worshipper and, along with his little brother, serve Cardinal Oldin Lasker.

Tropes:

  • Arch-Enemy: Is this to Ned Stryer.
  • Badass Cape: Donned one with his armor. After recovering from being sliced in half by Ned, The Golden Knight used his tattered cape as a makeshift loincloth.
  • Blinded by Rage: The Golden Knight was so furious upon realizing that Ned knew the secret to the Twin Knights' powers, he stopped listening to Oldin's cries through the <Queen's Message> skill.
  • But for Me, It Was Tuesday: The Golden Knight didn't even remember Ned or killing Ned's father due to having killed hundreds of other people over the years. To say Ned was pissed would be a MASSIVE understatement.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: The Golden Knight cared deeply for his little brother the Silver Knight to the point he lost it when Ned showed him the Moon Sword, which the Silver Knight considered as precious as his life.
  • Healing Factor: Thanks to his powerful regeneration abilities, the Golden Knight can heal from almost any wound including his top half being blown off and being vertically cut in half. However, due to having a limited supply of bugs, the Golden Knight's regenerative abilities can only be used a certain amount of times before Oldin has to restore the supply of bugs.
  • Iconic Item: The Sun Sword.
  • Karmic Death: Killed Ned's father, and was killed by Ned.
  • Respected by the Respected: Respected by Aaron Lucas, the creator of the original list that became the first iteration of the ten strongest people in Aslan. Too bad Aaron Lucas did not know of the Twin Knights' true nature...
  • Sensor Character: The Golden Knight has a powerful detection skill that allows him to monitor a wide area. Too bad Ned completely slipped past it using his Mist Bracelets.
  • Sibling Team: With his twin brother the Silver Knight. Through <Eclipse>, the Golden Knight and the Silver Knight surround their target with an endless storm of slashes without any openings. That was why the Twin Knights jointly shared the tenth place of the ten strongest people in Aslan.
  • Spell My Name With An S: Depending on the translation, his last name may be spelled as either "Hugo" or "Vigo".
  • Strong and Skilled: Has both great offensive powers and a vast variety of skills. Together with his twin brother and <Eclipse>, the Golden Knight ranked tenth of the ten strongest people in Aslan alongside the Silver Knight.
  • Twin Telepathy: The secret to the Twin Knights' power. Not only are their thoughts synchronized, but their mana and movements are too, allowing them to cover each other's openings and enact a ceaseless and brutal barrage on foes through their <Eclipse> skill. In fact, the Sun Sword and the Moon Sword are designed to facilitate such synchronicity. However, Ned used this against the Golden Knight by using Floating Cloud and the Moon Sword to synchronize with the Golden Knight's mana through electricity, effectively recreating <Eclipse>.
  • Undying Loyalty: After Oldin gave new meaning to his and his brother's lives, the Golden Knight devoted himself completely to Oldin.
  • Unstoppable Rage: After seeing Ned wield the Moon Sword, he decided to kill Ned instead of immediately going to save Oldin.
  • "World's Best" Character: Considered to jointly be the tenth of the ten strongest people in Aslan alongside his twin brother the Silver Knight. After their deaths, countless adventurers rushed to fill in the spot they left behind within the ten strongest people in Aslan.
  • Wrong Assumption: After realizing Ned knew the secret of <Eclipse>, the Golden Knight assumed that Ned had inflicted such horrendous atrocities to the Silver Knight, that his faithful little brother would leak the secret. Of course, the Golden Knight had no way of knowing that Zephyr was the one who told Ned the secret, not the Silver Knight.
  • You Killed My Father: One of the main reasons for Ned's immense hatred against Oldin and the Twin Knights. Which is why Zephyr wanted to make sure Ned had the perfect revenge.

    The Silver Knight

The Silver Knight

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_silver_knight.PNG

The Silver Knight Pollux Hugo/Pollux Vigo is one of the ten strongest people in Aslan and is the younger of the Twin Knights. He, along with his older brother, serve Cardinal Oldin Lasker.

Tropes:

  • Arch-Enemy: Is this to Ned Stryer.
  • Badass Cape: Donned one with his armor.
  • Doppelgänger: The Silver Knight seen when Lucius confronted Cardinal Oldin Lasker was not the real Silver Knight, but a weak fake who died to a single poisoned needle to the cheek. Meanwhile, the real Silver Knight was with several other Tartarus Worshippers at the meeting place where Ned was supposed to hand over the Dragon Heart.
  • Iconic Item: The Moon Sword.
  • Karmic Death: Killed Ned's father, and was killed by Zephyr, Ned, and Lucius.
  • Killed Offscreen: Twelve hours before Lucius confronted Cardinal Oldin Lasker, the Silver Knight was shown to have been brutally killed by Zephyr, Ned, and Lucius.
  • Off with His Head!: Was shown to have been beheaded in addition to having his limbs cut off and strewn about.
  • Respected by the Respected: Respected by Aaron Lucas, the creator of the original list that became the first iteration of the ten strongest people in Aslan. Too bad Aaron Lucas did not know of the Twin Knights' true nature...
  • Sibling Team: With his twin brother the Golden Knight.
Together with his twin brother and <Eclipse>, the Silver Knight ranked tenth of the ten strongest people in Aslan alongside the Golden Knight.
  • Undying Loyalty: After Oldin gave new meaning to his and his brother's lives, the Silver Knight devoted himself completely to Oldin.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Because the Silver Knight was killed before Lucius confronted Cardinal Oldin Lasker, not much is known about the Silver Knight himself other than he is the little brother of the Golden Knight and although he was a Tartarus Worshipper too, it hasn't been revealed which ranking he was.
  • "World's Best" Character: Considered to jointly be the tenth of the ten strongest people in Aslan alongside his twin brother the Golden Knight. After their deaths, countless adventurers rushed to fill in the spot they left behind within the ten strongest people in Aslan.
  • You Killed My Father: One of the main reasons for Ned's immense hatred against Oldin and the Twin Knights. Which is why Zephyr wanted to make sure Ned had the perfect revenge.

    Apostle Pavel

Apostle Pavel

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pavel.PNG

The 5th-highest ranking Tartarus Worshipper and one of the twelve apostles. In addition to serving as an apostle, Apostle Pavel also serves as a high-ranking priest in the Temple of Light in the Vatican Relic Management Squad alongside Apostle Othello and Apostle Wilhelmina.

Tropes:

  • Good Scars, Evil Scars: Has a cross-shaped scar on his face, and is a very evil person.
  • Impoverished Patrician: Was a member of the <Eastern Union> of the Eastern Lords. He was most likely recruited into the Tartarus Worshippers after the <Eastern Union> of the Eastern Lords collapsed due to the Dungeon Bubble Break, and regained his lost status after doing so.
  • Playing Both Sides: Is both one of the twelve apostles of the Tartarus Worshippers and a high-ranking priest within the Temple of Light.
  • Magical Weapon: The Legendary-Grade holy relic <Dagger of the Holy Sanctuary> pulls mana from the wielder and into the <Golden Mirror of the Holy Sanctuary> for powerful blasts. Apostle Pavel, alongside Apostle Othello and Apostle Wilhelmina, used their daggers to supply immense power to the <Golden Mirror of the Holy Sanctuary> for the purposes of breaking into the Third Parish of the Temple of Light.

    Apostle Othello

Apostle Othello

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/othello.PNG

The 8th-highest ranking Tartarus Worshipper and one of the twelve apostles. In addition to serving as an apostle, Apostle Othello also serves as a high-ranking priest in the Temple of Light in the Vatican Relic Management Squad alongside Apostle Pavel and Apostle Wilhelmina.

Tropes:

  • Evil Red Head: Definitely is one.
  • No Brows: Has no eyebrows, making him all the more uncanny.
  • Occam's Razor: Unlike Apostle Wilhelmina, Apostle Othello prefers to not overthink things. For instance, while Apostle Wilhelmina was thinking that Oldin and Jinryang of the East were working for Altair all along with Oldin and Jingang only pretending to be dead, Apostle Othello opted for the more simple explanation that Oldin was weak and that was why he was defeated.
  • Scary Teeth: Apostle Othello has a set of very sharp, shark-like teeth.
Apostle Othello, alongside Apostle Pavel and Apostle Wilhelmina, used their daggers to supply immense power to the <Golden Mirror of the Holy Sanctuary> for the purposes of breaking into the Third Parish of the Temple of Light.

    Apostle Wilhelmina

Apostle Wilhelmina

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wilhelmina.PNG

The 10th-highest ranking Tartarus Worshipper and one of the twelve apostles. In addition to serving as an apostle, Apostle Wilhelmina also serves as a high-ranking priest in the Temple of Light in the Vatican Relic Management Squad alongside Apostle Pavel and Apostle Othello.

Tropes:

  • Nun Too Holy: May be a priest in the Temple of Light, but is NOT a good person. Apostle Wilhelmina climbed high within the ranks of both the Tartarus Worshippers and the Temple of Light all for the sake of being part of high society.
Apostle Wilhelmina, alongside Apostle Pavel and Apostle Othello, used their daggers to supply immense power to the <Golden Mirror of the Holy Sanctuary> for the purposes of breaking into the Third Parish of the Temple of Light.
  • Wrong Assumption: Believed that Oldin and Jinryang of the East were working for Altair all along with Oldin and Jingang only pretending to be dead. She pointed to how Oldin and Jinryang of the East having their subordinates enter the Tomb of the Fallen Princess and how Oldin's and Jingang's corpses were never found.
