    Jane Romero

Jane Romero - A influential celebrity

Voiced by: Patricia Brochu-Gagné
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/storebackground_ms.png
"Ok, stay calm. Don't overthink it and just keep moving forward: you got this."

Jane never really knew her mother, a famous actress named Loretta Lawrence, as her parents divorced while she was a baby due to Loretta always being away from home to film. She resented her mother for being away all the time and leaving them alone but at the same time admired her performance on the screen. She wanted to be like her mother, so she performed in plays and auditioned for commercials. Eventually, a radio station took notice when she won first place at a national oratory contest and asked for an interview. Her natural charm and repartee impressed them, earning a part-time job at the station.

After graduating college, Jane quit her job to work for a trendy variety show. But her delivery and ad-libbing weren't impressive, and she was fired just five months later. Desperate, she pitched a show at her old radio station, but it was turned down due to being "too risky." Months later, she got a call from a producer who had seen re-runs of the show. He was looking for a new co-host to potentially revive a failing show named Quick Talk. The show had a very crude and inflammatory tone, but she disputed this and instead focused on discussing personal problems. Within weeks, the show's viewership was growing again.

Two years later, she launched her own full-hour segment: The Jane Romero Show, a nationally broadcast show that covered "taboo" topics, such as her own abandonment issues. The show broke records and soon Jane's name could be seen on all sorts of products such as beauty cream. She eventually published a memoir, covering her childhood without her mother. It was a best-seller, but was reviewed harshly by critics.

Jane decided to do a two-hour long special episode on the topic of divorce. The topic was already stressful to her enough, but that stress grew drastically when her mother Loretta agreed to make a guest appearance for the special. Jane tried to keep the interview civil and calm, but eventually Loretta interrupted her, claiming that she and Jane were not related at all. The interview went to hell soon after. Afterwards, Jane went to drive to New Jersey to talk to her father. After popping a few painkillers to help the throbbing pain in her temples that had been bugging her all day, her vision began to blur. Soon, Jane couldn't stop her eyes from closing.

The morning after, the police found her car deep in water. Her body wasn't found, despite weeks-long searches. Both her parents attended her funeral. All of the episodes of The Jane Romero Show were re-released a month later, all starting with an opening tribute for her, wishing her peace.

As a Survivor, Jane's unique perks Solidarity, Poised and Head On allow her to help both teammates and her equally, remain stealthy and get the jump on the Killer. Solidarity activates when you're injured and healing another Survivor, passively healing you at a rate of up to 50% of your normal healing speed. Poised removes your Scratch Marks for a brief period of time after completing a generator. Head On allows you to stun the Killer by jumping out of a locker after hiding in one for three seconds.

Jane Romero is the twelfth new survivor added to the game with the release of the Demise of the Faithful Chapter on March 19th, 2019.

  • Berserk Button: The mere sight of her mother, who all but abandoned her since childhood. It gets even worse when she says they're not actually related during a live show.
  • Big Beautiful Woman: Jane often sticks out from the other female survivors due to her curves, but it doesn't earn her any less adoration from the fans and cosmetics that compliment her figure. This usually ends up playing against her favor, however, as her larger character model makes it easier for Killers to spot her even when she's hiding.
  • Celebrity Survivor: Before the Entity abducted Jane, she had her own nationally syndicated talk show as well as multiple product endorsements.
  • Hartman Hips: What do you mean you didn't notice?
  • In the Blood: Jane inherited much of her mother's charisma and talent, and she knows this.
  • Loved by All: Jane was a nationally adored talk show host and celebrity prior to her disappearance.
  • The Medic: Her "Solidarity" perk allows her to recover health when healing other survivors.
  • Parental Neglect: Jane grew up mostly in the care of her father, while her mother is usually away due to being Married to the Job.
  • Stepford Smiler: Her cutscene from the second Tome of the Archives shows her crying to herself before being called on the phone for her show. When she gets there, she takes a moment to prepare herself then walks on-stage with a smile on her face.
  • Shout-Out: Her surname is a reference to George A. Romero.
  • Stout Strength: Jane is full-figured and can body-slam killers once every 40 seconds with her "Head On" perk.
  • Token Minority: In-universe she struggled to be taken seriously as an actress and actively refused to do any kind of stereotypical Latina accent for her parts.

    Ashley "Ash" J. Williams

Ashley "Ash" Joanna Williams - An alone wolf

Voiced by: Bruce Campbell
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/storebackground_ml.png

Ash Williams was just an average guy working at S-Mart when he and a group of friends went out for a weekend at a cabin in the woods. While they only meant to party around and get high, they ended up discovering a creepy old book and reading from it. Unfortunately, that book happened to be the Necronomicon ex Mortis... the Book of the Dead. The book unleashed a torrent of evil spirits known as Deadites that possessed most of the group, eventually leaving Ash the sole survivor. As he tried to escape the cabin, though, the evil force dragged him back in to play some more.

Meeting with a few new allies that sought to get rid of the Deadites, Ash's hand ended up possessed, so he had to chop it off to prevent it from spreading. Having had enough, Ash went to work customizing a chainsaw and shotgun into his new signature weapons and defeated the demon in the cabin's cellar. However, the attempt to use the Book to exorcise the others went wrong and opened a portal in time, sending Ash to the Middle Ages. After escaping enslavement and impressing the primitive screwheads with his prowess, Ash led the charge against the invading Army of Darkness (which he had accidentally summoned via bungling the incantation to get rid of them) and returned to his own time.

Years later, after hoping to bury the traumas of his past, Ash accidentally summoned the Evil Dead back to this world when he read the Book completely stoned to impress a lady. Teaming up with his Value Stop co-workers Pablo and Kelly, Ash came out of retirement to save the world from evil once again.

Groovy.

As a Survivor, Ash's unique perks Flip-Flop, Buckle Up and Mettle of Man allow him to both help himself and his teammates out of desperate situations while also making himself tougher. Flip-Flop converts up to 50% of your recovery progress while in the dying state into wiggle progress while being carried by the Killer. Buckle Up reveals the Killer's aura while healing a dying Survivor and grants both of you endurance after completing the heal. Mettle of Man activates after taking three protection hits in a trial, and protects you from the next attack that would put you in the dying state, at the cost of constantly revealing your aura to the Killer while you're healthy.

Ashley J. Williams is the thirteenth new survivor added to the game with the release of the Ash vs Evil Dead paragraph on April 2nd, 2019.

Ash is the fifth Guest Fighter survivor to be added in the game, coming from Evil Dead.

  • Adaptational Wimp: One of the biggest cases so far, alongside Bill and the Resident Evil crew, as he has neither his chainsaw nor his boomstick at his disposal. This is ignoring the fact that even in his advanced age in Ash vs. Evil Dead, he was still fully capable of trouncing Baal, an elder demon, so badly that he had to resort to cheating by unleashing his true powers, and this was done with only his Good Old Fisticuffs instead of relying on his chainsaw or trusty Boomstick. If anything, he of all people should be more than capable of handing the Killers' asses to them with his robot hand, had he only been allowed to fight back.
  • Age Lift: His in-game model is significantly younger-looking than his appearance in Ash vs. Evil Dead, with most of his gray hair being gone and him being more physically fit than his live-action incarnation, however, he's clearly older and heavier than he was in Army of Darkness.
  • The Alcoholic: Based on the lore, he still seems to be a heavy drinker who enjoys going to bars a lot.
  • Artificial Limbs:
    • Has a robotic hand to replace the one he lost back in Evil Dead 2. It is the one used in the Ash vs. the Evil Dead series, rather than the one he had back in Army of Darkness. One purchasable outfit replaces this with Ashy Slashy, who seems to be inert this time.
    • Another purchasable outfit replaces his hand with the android prosthetic he received in the Series Finale of Ash vs. Evil Dead.
    • The mobile version has multiple hand choices. In addition to the ones listed above are Pablo's Handiwork and Pablo's custom job, which are variations of the power glove from the series, as well as a "carved wooden hand" which looks somewhat normal and actually comes with a cuff.
  • Aura Vision: Buckle Up allows Ash to see the recovery progress of a dying survivor, and if he manages to heal them back to the injured state, both of them can see the Killer's aura for a few seconds.
  • Blue Is Heroic: His default look includes a bright blue shirt, and he is The Hero of his franchise. His other available outfits include the Hawaiian shirt from season two, his normal attire with a red Value Stop vest, a blue Christmas sweater with a chainsaw design, and his final outfit in the series finale, so every available outfit Ash has is a blue shirt of some type.
  • But for Me, It Was Tuesday: By this point, Ash has gotten so used to supernatural horror that he only reacts with mild annoyance to getting trapped in the Entity's realm. Subverted in gameplay where he seems just as horrified as the rest of the Survivors.
  • Butt-Monkey: The way he gets to the Entity's realm is actually played for Black Comedy unlike the other Survivors who were taken there in pretty horrific ways.
  • Cool Old Guy: He's spent decades fighting off demonic forces and despite his age, is more than capable of surviving the Entity's killers.
  • Continuity Snarl: Ash's in-game lore text establishes that his being taken by the Entity happens after the conclusion of the third season of Ash vs. Evil Dead, and yet he still retains the Power Glove that Pablo built for him instead of the bionic hand that the Knights of Sumeria had constructed in its place, alongside his signature outfit rather than the futuristic jumpsuit that the order gave him when he woke up in the future. While said hand is available as a purchasable cosmetic, it raises the question of why it's not a default part of him to begin with instead of the other way around. That being said, given that the same lore article also described how Ash suddenly finds himself clothed when transported into the realm, it's probable that his current attire was replicated by the Entity on a whim, Power Glove included.
    • A recent update to Ash's cosmetics include the outfit that Ash was seen wearing in the last scene of the series, and also includes the updated robotic hand that he's using when he comes out of stasis.
  • Deadpan Snarker: His dialogue and his reaction to getting trapped in the Entity's realm.
  • Difficult, but Awesome: Downplayed, but two of his three perks require him to be hurt before they can activate. Mettle of Man is a good example of this, requiring him to take at least 3 hits to protect other Survivors before he can use it, while also greatly increasing his chances of becoming the killer's Obsession and revealing his location to them if he's healed up while at a certain distance away, but for the entire duration of its effects, he will be able to No-Sell an attack that should have put him into bleedout. Healing afterwards will reveal his position to the killer, however.
  • Dirty Old Man: As indicated in his background, Ash is still as flirtatious as he was when he was younger.
  • Draw Aggro: His Mettle of Man perk enforces this on a technical level by giving the player a 100% increased likelihood of being selected as the Killer's obsession.
  • Experienced Protagonist: By the time he was trapped in the Entity's twisted game, Ash had tons of experience dealing with the demonic forces.
  • Forgot About His Powers: His expertise as a Gadgeteer Genius in his home series is not carried over to the Entity's trials, where he can be outdone in repairing generators by younger, less-experienced survivors. His uncanny ability to create weapons out of basic scrap seems to have been lost too. Do keep in mind that this is the same guy who managed to refit a beaten-up Oldsmobile into a Deadite-mulching vehicle of doom while trapped in medieval England with nothing but sheer mechanical know-how.
  • Guest Fighter: From Evil Dead, more specifically Ash vs. Evil Dead.
  • Gathering Steam: Mettle of Man gains charges by taking Protection hits in place of your teammates. The real problem is racking up three of those without downing yourself to activate it in the first place, and Protection hits can be deceptively difficult to accrue depending on how skilled you, the Killer, and your teammates are.
  • Handicapped Badass: He was forced to cut his own right hand off after it was possessed by demonic spirits, and depending on the player's cosmetics, has a robotic hand, a wooden hand, or a hand puppet in place of it. It didn't stop him from fighting off the Deadites and it doesn't stop him from going up against the supernaturally powered killers of the Entity's realm.
  • Here We Go Again!: His reaction to arriving in the realm of the Entity.
  • Heroic Resolve: In his home series Ash is a Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass who has a way of getting dangerous after being beaten up by whatever supernatural beastie he's fighting, allowing him to turn the tides and ultimately defeat them. While he can't physically raise his hand against Killers in this game, this is still reflected in the effect of his Mettle of Man perk, where sheer determination alone is enough to allow him to No-Sell a basic attack that would normally send him into the Dying state. Provided he can avoid being downed again after triggering it and keep getting away with taking Protection Hits, a skilled Ash can get extremely good mileage out of Mettle of Man and be a real nuisance to Killers who don't have a means of circumventing it.
  • Highly-Visible Ninja: He's guilty of this like Laurie before him. In a game where stealth is imperative to survival, he starts out wearing a bright blue shirt. His other outfits are no better, either, one of which turns him into a walking Hawaiian-Shirted Tourist, and the other giving him a bright red vest from his job as a department store stock boy. And as the cherry on top, his pained groans are among the loudest in the game, making Ash incredibly easy to spot when wounded. The mobile version allows you to mix and match a bit, so you can dress Ash in the darker Hawaiian shirt and the darker pants, which allows for at least some additional stealth in darker maps. Ash is also a character that is beneficial to max level quickly, to unlock the "Bloody Ash" face and outfit, which darkens the bright blue shirt considerably, and makes him harder to spot in darker maps.
  • Iconic Outfit: As per the films, Ash's main outfit was a blue button down and dark pants or khakis, and the game model dresses him in his series outfit, which he wore in every episode.
  • Ink-Suit Actor: Unlike most of the other crossover characters, Ash is modeled to resemble Bruce Campbell as closely as possible, due to Behaviour managing to secure the rights to use both his likeness and voice.
  • Joke Character: Due to the ability to mix and match outfits, you can wear Ash's main blue button down with the shotgun holster as a top, and have it tucked into the shorts and sandals with socks bottoms that go with the Hawaiian shirt. To say they look incongruous together is an understatement.
    • Also, one of his cosmetics is the "Ashy Slashy" hand puppet which functions just the same as all of his other hands in a match, despite it having a mouth instead of fingers.
  • Joke Item: Played with: One of Ash's hand cosmetics is, of course, the Ashy Slashy puppet, and when worn during a match, not only does it have no special functions in particular, but when healing or repairing generators, the puppet behaves the same as a real hand with fingers, which is quite the visual.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: On occasion, after waiting in a lobby for long enough, Ash might ask "Are we going to be here all day?".
  • Mythology Gag:
  • Nerf: He was one of the most powerful survivors on release due to his Mettle of Man perk, which originally triggered after taking 3 basic hits (unhooking a survivor also counted towards this) and would make him effectively invincible against any basic attack for the 4th hit. When it was recognized that this heavily punished the weaker half of the Killer roster (who can only do basic attacks), while not really affecting stronger Killers like Hillbilly or Huntress who use special attacks, the perk was changed to its current state where it requires 3 protection hits to trigger, though it now applies to any attack.
  • Sir Swearsalot: Swears in both his lore and in some of his dialogue.
  • Situational Sword:
    • Flip-Flop is literally useless if he isn't downed, is downed but then ignored by the killer to bleed out, is downed and then picked up before he could start recovering, or is grabbed from a window/locker instead of picked up while injured, as it converts part of his Recovery meter to Wiggle progress to allow him to break free more easily while being moved to a hook.
    • It is also of no use if a killer uses a Memento Mori or perk to bypass the hooks and kill him directly. This makes Flip-Flop especially worthless if playing against an experienced Shape who has the Tombstone Piece or Judith's Tombstone, since those allow the killer to off him instantly from full health at Evil Within III, bypassing the need to down, carry, and hook him entirely.
  • Suddenly Voiced: The first Survivor in the game to have fully spoken dialogue, as he briefly talks when selecting him in the main menu and lobby.
  • Teleportation Misfire: Him bungling False Linda's incantation accidentally sends him to the Entity's realm instead of back to the real world.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: His reaction when he finds himself in the Realm of the Entity, hearing screams in the distance.
    Nancy Wheeler

Nancy Wheeler - An aspiring journalist

Voiced by: Diane Guillemont
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/qf_storebackground_0.png
"All this time I've been trying so hard to pretend like everything's fine, but it's not."

When her best friend Barb went missing, Nancy Wheeler pulled out all the stops to investigate and find her friend with the assistance of Jonathan Byers, who's younger brother Will also recently went missing. Together, they ultimately uncovered a truth no one could've foreseen; both the people they were searching for had been dragged away into a hellish other world, The Upside Down, by a vicious beast. While Barb had perished, Will was saved and the monster was defeated... or so, they thought.

Her grief over Barb's death ultimately led to her breaking up with her boyfriend Steve Harrington, as well as kickstarting a need for revenge on those responsible for unleashing the "Demogorgon", the Hawkins National Laboratory. After saving Will from another entity possessing him, she and a man named Murray Bauman published an exposé that brought Hawkins National Laboratory down.

After another incident saw the Starcourt Mall be destroyed by the "Mind Flayer" and the Byers family moving to California, Nancy received a new lead linking to the abandoned Hawkins National Laboratory building. She entered the building fearlessly, stepping through the dimly-lit halls before slowly feeling her consciousness fading. She used her radio to contact Steve for help, just as she passed out.

When her eyes fluttered open once more, she found herself somewhere new. Not her world, but not the Upside Down, either. And through the thick mist, she heard the insidious roar of the beast that had claimed her friend all those years ago.

As a Survivor, Nancy's unique perks Better Together, Fixated and Inner Strength (temporarily renamed Situational Awareness, Self-Aware and Inner Healing) allow her to be stealthier, easily work on objectives with teammates and heal herself in a moment's notice. Better Together highlights the aura of the generator you're currently working on to other Survivors, and shows you the aura of all other Survivors if one is downed while you're repairing. Self-Aware shows you your own Scratch Marks and increases your walking speed by up to 20%. Inner Strength activates after cleansing a totem, and allows you to fully heal yourself by hiding in a locker for a short period of time.

Nancy Wheeler is the fourteenth new survivor added to the game with the release of the Stranger Things chapter on September 17th, 2019. However, due to licensing issues with Netflix, on November 17th 2021, Nancy was made no longer purchaseable (though remains in the game for players who already own it). On November 6th 2023, Nancy was made purchaseable again with the Stranger Things chapter or as a standalone Survivor.'

Nancy is the sixth Guest Fighter survivor to be added in the game, coming from Stranger Things.

  • Intrepid Reporter: Nancy is an aspiring Journalist who makes acute observations about her surroundings. Shown in her perk inner strength, requiring her to locate a totem which will then allow her to heal herself when entering a locker.
  • Guest Fighter: From Stranger Things.
  • Heal Thyself: Her unique perk Inner Strength allows Nancy to heal herself for one health state after cleansing a Totem by entering a Locker and staying in it for several seconds. Woe be to her if she's playing against a Huntress or a Trickster, though, as she will be hiding where they will be regularly visiting to restock their "ammo".
  • Ink-Suit Actor: Despite not being voiced by Natalia Dyer, Nancy still shares her likeness with her in the game, unlike some of the other Guest Fighters.
  • Permanently Missable Content: Due to Behaviour's license expiring in November 2021, Nancy has since been permanently removed from online retail platforms, along with the rest of the Stranger Things content. Players who already owned her to the removal are still to be able to play as her, though, and her unique perks were made generic and obtainable by all in the bloodweb. She returned with the rest of the chapter in November 2023.
  • The Sneaky Guy: Her Fixated perk lets survivors walk very fast, which allows them to move quickly without leaving behind scratch marks.

    Steve Harrington

Steve Harrington - A former jock

"I promised to keep you shitheads safe, and that's exactly what I plan on doing."
Click here to see Jonathan Byers

Steve Harrington made a name for himself at Hawkins High School, walking through the halls with fame and arrogance alike. One night, he held a party at his house while his parents away, making love to his girlfriend Nancy Wheeler... as a monster abducted Nancy's friend Barb outside. Later, Steve caught Jonathan Byers developing photos he took of the party, tearing them up and breaking his camera as he tried to comfort Nancy and her worries about the disappearance of her friend.

Eventually, the worry got the best of him and he drove to her house with his friends Tommy and Carol to check in, only to see Jonathan sitting on Nancy's bed with her, putting a jacket onto her. Convinced he was being cheated on and hurt, Steve and his friends spray painted vulgar messages about the duo around town, which led to Jonathan brutally beating up Steve until a cop pulled him off.

The beatdown left Steve reeling, and with a new perspective forming in his head, he told off his "friends", cleaned up the spray paint and drove to Jonathan's house to try and make things right... only to stumble right into Jonathan and Nancy's attempts to kill an extra-dimensional beast.

A few years later, after Nancy broke up with him and some more incidents with the creatures of the Upside Down, losing his high school reputation, building a new one as a babysitter and surviving torture from Russians, Steve received a radio call from Nancy one night. She sounded exhausted, as she told him she needed help at the old Hawkins National Laboratory. Wasting no time, he got into his car and drove off.

When he got there, however, the only thing he found on the dirtied old floor was her notebook. Suddenly, the ground beneath him opened up and he fell, a black mist swirling around his form as he lost consciousness.

When he awakened, he found himself back inside the Hawkins National Laboratory... but, it was different somehow. It looked familiar, yet... wrong.

As a Survivor, Steve's unique perks Babysitter, Camaraderie and Second Wind (temporarily renamed Guardian, Kinship and Renewal) give him a more altruistic playstyle, buying his teammates time to get away and rewarding him for healing Survivors by healing him as well. Babysitter extends a Survivor's haste after being unhooked and hides their scratch marks, while simultaneously revealing the Killer's aura to you for a short period of time. Camaraderie pauses your struggle timer for up to 34 seconds if a Survivor comes within 16 meters of your hook. Second Wind activates after healing a survivor for one full health state, and heals you after being unhooked once a short period of time elapses.

Steve Harrington is the fifteenth new survivor added to the game with the release of the Stranger Things chapter on September 17th, 2019. However, due to licensing issues with Netflix, on November 17th 2021, Steve was made no longer purchaseable (though remains in the game for players who already own him). On November 6th 2023, Steve was made purchaseable again with the Stranger Things chapter or as a standalone survivor.'

Steve is the seventh Guest Fighter survivor to be added in the game, coming from Stranger Things.

  • Adaptational Wimp: In the series, Steve could take on a Demogorgon and a pack of Demodogs with nothing but a nailed bat. Here, however, he's forced to run away like every other Survivor. Ultimately subverted due to the fact that all killers in Dead By Daylight have been souped up and made nearly impossible to properly fight against save for whatever perk or tool the Entity allows in a Trial.
  • Crippling Overspecialization: Somewhat. Two of his three perks activate under very specific circumstances. Camaraderie pauses his struggle timer on the second phase of the hooking process, but only if a survivor comes within a certain range, at which point that survivor is likely to simply unhook him, and Second Wind only activates after spending several seconds untouched after being unhooked, and only if he healed the equivalent of a full health state on other survivors before being hooked.
  • '80s Hair: Wouldn't be Steve "The Hair" Harrington without it.
  • Guest Fighter: From Stranger Things.
  • Heroic Resolve: Camaraderie allows Steve to, upon seeing a survivor nearby, briefly overpower The Entity in order to buy time for his teammates to save him.
  • Highly-Visible Ninja: One of his alternitive outfits is his brightly colored Scoops Ahoy! uniform, which isn't going to help much in a game reliant on stealth.
  • Ink-Suit Actor: Despite not being voiced by Joe Keery, Steve still shares his likeness with him in the game, unlike some of the other Guest Fighters.
  • Palette Swap: His Legendary set changes him into Jonathan Byers, complete with different voice and character portrait.
  • Permanently Missable Content: Due to Behaviour's license expiring in November 2021, Steve has since been permanently removed from online retail platforms, along with the rest of the Stranger Things content. Players who already owned him are still able to play as him, though, and his unique perks have been made generic and obtainable by all in the bloodweb. He returned with the rest of the chapter in November 2023.
  • Regenerating Health: His Second Wind perk allows him to passively heal himself back up to the healthy state after being unhooked, at the cost of leaving him unable to heal via other methods until afterwards.

    Yui Kimura

Yui Kimura - A hardened street racer

Voiced by: Daniela Pinto
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ss_storebackground.png
"I'll hit you with everything I've got. Then I'll do it again."

A rough and tumble street racer from the Japanese town of Hida. Yui's passion for motorcycle racing wasn't approved of by her traditional father, and eventually, she was kicked out of her home and moved to Nagoya, where she began taking part in underground street races.

Her notoriety in races got her the attention of several ladies who proudly displayed her pink colors in racing, as well as an unwanted stalker, who she would eventually come to a violent confrontation within her apartment. A wounded Yui was hospitalized, with her gang members helping pay off her bills. After her hospitalization, she returned to racing with her gang, now officially called the Sakura 7, dedicated to aiding women who suffered abuse. Eventually, during an illegal street race in Tokyo, Yui would vanish into a mysterious fog, and her find herself in a strange, unknown place.

As a Survivor, Yui's unique perks Lucky Break, Any Means Necessary and Breakout hide her trails while allowing her to re-enable dropped pallets and help her teammates break out of the Killer's grasp easier. Lucky Break suppresses your Scratch Marks and pools of blood while injured for up to a minute, with the timer replenishing for every second you spend healing another Survivor. Any Means Necessary lets you reset dropped pallets in the environment and reveals the auras of dropped pallets to you. Breakout grants you haste when you're within five meters of a carried Survivor and increases their wiggle speed by 25%.

Yui Kimura is the sixteenth new survivor added to the game with the release of the Cursed Legacy chapter on December 3rd, 2019.

  • Action Girl: While all female survivors are this by default, Yui deserves a special mention for kicking a stalker's ass despite sustaining severe injuries.
  • Archnemesis Dad: Her traditional father actively discouraged her interests and kicked her out when she told him she wanted to follow her dreams.
  • Badass Biker: A badass motorcycle-riding street racer.
  • Color Motif: Pink, her pink hachimaki became a symbol of feminist empowerment and a symbol of unity for women who suffer from stalkers and abusers.
  • Escape Artist: Yui's gameplay style, if you're using only her perks. See Stern Chase below.
  • Major Injury Underreaction: Her arm and leg were broken during a struggle against an intruder, but that didn't stop her from beating the tar out of him long enough for the cops to arrive. She did have to go to the hospital shortly afterwards, however.
  • Pink Is Erotic: Implied, Yui Kimura is one of the survivors and she is a street racer who uses pink as a motif. Her pink hachimaki became a symbol of feminist empowerment after she had to defend herself from a stalker who broke into her apartment to steal her clothes. While the game doesn't outright say what the stalker's intentions were, it's pretty clear that he broke into her apartment with the intention of raping her and stole her clothes out of a perverse desire to be with her. Afterwards, her pink hachimaki also became a symbol of unity for women who suffer from stalkers and abusive men.
  • Stern Chase: Yui's perks aid greatly in a chase from the killers, ensuring that her and the survivors can't get hooked. Lucky Break won't leave scratch marks or blood trails for 120-180 seconds when survivors get injured; Any Means Necessary puts pallets back upright, giving survivors opportunities to block the Killer's path while being chased, and Breakout increases a carried survivor's wriggle speed so as long as the player is close by while also giving them the Haste Effect, essentially allowing for available healing once the injured survivor breaks free.
  • Tomboy with a Girly Streak: Yui is a biker chick and a Wrench Wench who was disowned by her traditional father, but she still doesn't shy away from wearing jewelry or pink clothes and having long untied hair.
  • Wrench Wench: On top of being a biker chick.

    Zarina Kassir

Zarina Kassir - A plucky documentarian

Voiced by: Émilie Paquin
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/us_storebackground.png
"We can write our own story and decide how it really ends."

Raised in Brooklyn to a Lebanese family, Zarina took interest in news reports of injustice and began interviewing members of her community on various issues, posting her content online. When reports of workplace injustice at a fast-food restaurant came to her attention, she chose to go undercover and get recorded evidence of the exploitation. When news reports spun the story in the restaurant's favor, Zarina chose to become an independent documentarian, starting her career with a film on the infamous Sacco and Vanzetti case. However, her life took a sad turn when a gang member shoved her father into the path of a moving vehicle. The man would be charged with manslaughter and sent to Hellshire Penitentiary.

Zarina, bitter yet determined, began to further investigate the case, eventually heading for Hellshire to get an interview with the culprit behind the case. While unable to get him to talk at first, her research into the man allowed her to successfully push the buttons she needed to get him to speak, and he confessed to a pre-meditated crime. With this, Zarina launched her documentary on the case and gang violence.

Eventually, Zarina's interest would be piqued by another story from Hellshire. This story spoke of a wing in the private prison that was sealed off after a brutal rampage by an Irish convict that claimed the lives of a warden and several guards. Zarina took it upon herself to figure out the truth behind the so-called "Mad Mick Massacre" and snuck herself into the sealed wing of the prison to find out more after finding a matching record in Hellshire documents for an Irish-American inmate from 1860. Inside the convict's cell, she would eventually find a dead body with eyes like her father's... and soon found herself enveloped in a black fog.

As a Survivor, Zarina's unique perks Off the Record, Red Herring and For the People helps her remain hidden after being unhooked, create distractions in the form of fake Generator notifications and allow her to quickly heal her fellow Survivors at the cost of being unhealable for a period of time. Off the Record blocks your aura from being read, hides your Scratch Marks, and grants you endurance after being unhooked. Red Herring lets you create a fake loud noise notification for the Killer, buying you and your teammates time to strategize. For the People allows you to sacrifice a health state to instantly heal another Survivor, at the cost of becoming Broken and becoming the Killer's Obsession.

Zarina Kassir is the seventeenth new survivor added to the game with the release of the Chains of Hate chapter on March 10th, 2020.

  • But Not Too Foreign: Played with but ultimately averted in her lore: As a child, Zarina rejected her Lebanese heritage going so far as to go by another name, but as she got older, she learned to accept it.
  • Intrepid Reporter: What Zarina does for a living. Unfortunately, her desire to get the scoop landed her in The Entity's realm.
  • The Trickster: Her perks are based around deception; Off the Record makes her invisible to aura reading for 60 seconds after being unhooked (as well as much quieter during that time), Red Herring creates fake noise notifications at generators to mislead the killer, and For The People lets her instantly heal survivors, which has a lot of potential for bamboozling the killer.

Cheryl Mason, also known as Heather Mason, found herself thrust into an otherworldly nightmare when an ordinary shopping trip results in her being pursued by the otherwordly influence of the town of Silent Hill. Finding herself haunted by the otherworld wherever she went, she was forced to visit the town in order to put an end to her living nightmare. Facing off with otherworldy monsters, as well as a cult known as the Order, Heather's journey led her to face dark truths, revealing her connection to the Order and the town through her past lives. It was after escaping the clutches of the Order that she began to use the name Cheryl.

Though she had survived her ordeal, the incident left its fair share of trauma on her. Hoping to get some peace of mind, she volunteered at a center for troubled youths. Things seemed to be going well, until one day she recieved a call from what seemed to be a member of the Order from her past, who she thought to be dead. In that moment of panic and confusion, Cheryl was spirited away by the Entity.

As a Survivor, Cheryl's unique perks Soul Guard, Blood Pact, and Repressed Alliance allow her to get herself up from the dying state while afflicted with a Hex and protect herself from hits afterward, help the obsession by revealing herself to them and giving each other a boost after healing, and block generators from being attacked by the Killer for a short duration. Soul Guard grants you endurance after recovering from the dying state by any means, and allows you to fully recover from the dying state if there's an active Hex in the trial. Blood Pact mutually reveals the auras of you and the Obsession when either of you are injured, and grants you both haste when either of you heal the other. Repressed Alliance allows you to summon the Entity to block a generator for a brief period of time after completing a certain amount of repairs.

Cheryl Mason is the eighteenth new survivor added to the game with the release of the Silent Hill chapter on June 16th, 2020.

Cheryl is the eighth Guest Fighter survivor to be added in the game, coming from Silent Hill.

  • Adaptation Name Change: Zig-zagged. The character herself is officially known as Heather Mason in the canon of her home series, while Cheryl is the name of her previous incarnation, before being merged with Alessa Gillespie in the good ending of Silent Hill. This is handwaved in the promotional materials as her adopting said name in honor of her late father, Harry Mason.
  • Adaptational Wimp:
    • Cheryl in her home game is capable of defending herself against the hordes of monsters after her with everyday objects like pipes and bats, and even face off against monsters with similar stature to Pyramid Head in her journey through Silent Hill (Her previous incarnation, Alessa, is one of if not the most powerful entities in Silent Hill, the one who created the nightmare world in the first game). However, in this game, Cheryl is just as defenseless as other Survivors, most likely due to the Entity not giving her any items to fend for herself.
    • Maria in her home game is a Humanoid Abomination who can assume a One-Winged Angel form to float around and attack people. Here, she's just an ordinary human like any other Survivor.
  • Ambiguously Human: Maria is not a human in her home game; she's a demonic construct of Silent Hill's sent to distract and torment James, so the Entity choosing to abduct and torment her is an interesting decision in-universe. One could argue that it serves the same purpose her repeated slaying by Pyramid Head serves in Silent Hill 2. It's also possible to interpret Lisa this way, but the first game's Lisa was explicitly based upon a real person (seen in 0rigins) by Alessa, who is probably who the Entity took.
  • Auto-Revive: Her Soul Guard allows her to pick herself up from the dying state, similar to Bill's Unbreakable or David King's No Mither, but only if the Killer is using a Hex perk and it's totem is still active.
  • Bad Powers, Good People: She can control the Entity to a certain degree, as indicated by her "Repressed Alliance" perk, which lets her activate the Entity Blocker effect on generators (which prevents killers from kicking them). Her "Soul Guard" perk also leeches power off of killer hex totems, giving her infinite self-revives as long as a hex totem is active. Makes sense as she has a portion of Silent Hill's power and it and the Entity have a similar nature.
  • Cosmic Plaything: James Sunderland can't seem to catch a break. First, he has to endure the event of Silent Hill 2, then he's abducted by the Entity. These two things alone are horrible even by the standards of most survivors, but the Entity just has to bring his personalized tormentors Pyramid Head and Maria along with him as well, allowing them to potentially torture him for the rest of eternity (though at least in Maria's case, she's probably too busy being tortured herself to bother him much).
  • Experienced Protagonist: Like Ash, she's very experienced with supernatural hardships, as mentioned in her Perk notes and her title.
    • The same goes for Maria, who has only ever known the hellscape that is Silent Hill throughout her entire existence. Even though she's one of them, the town's creatures target her all the same and she has to fend for herself like any other real human there.
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: There is no special interaction between James and Maria. Regardless of the ending taken in their home game, James either kills or threatens to kill Maria, so they should definitely have a lot to say to each other.
  • Gameplay and Story Integration:
    • Interestingly, Maria is the only survivor whose lore and gameplay match up perfectly, considering that even back in her home franchise she already exists to be tortured and killed over and over, only to turn up alive again multiple times.
    • Alessa is treated as a Very Rare outfit for Cheryl instead of a legendary set, which makes sense because Cheryl is a reincarnation of Alessa rather than an entirely different person. The canonical Cheryl does in fact consider Alessa the same person as her and shares some of the same memory.
  • Guest Fighter: From Silent Hill.
  • Highly-Visible Ninja: One of the biggest offenders so far. In a game reliant on stealth, her base outfit consists of a PURE WHITE vest over a sleeveless orange turtleneck, making her stand out against all the maps in the game, including Ormond. It doesn't help that her hair is dyed blonde.
  • The Hunter Becomes the Hunted: Maria is the first case where a licensed antagonist ends up becoming a survivor in this game, turning her from the tormentor into the victim.
  • Iconic Outfit: Taken right from Silent Hill 3, orange sweatbands and all. In fact, Cheryl is the first female survivor to wear a skirt as part of her default cosmetics.
  • Kid Hero: A teenager and one of the youngest Survivors.
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: Her true identity as Cheryl Mason instead of Heather, as well as her connection to Alessa Gillespie, is not hidden at all in Dead By Daylight.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • Her Christmas sweater prominently features both the Seal of Metatron and Robbie the Rabbit.
    • One of her purchasable outfits is based on her appearance in Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, with the alternate recolour of said outfit being based on Dahlia Mason, too.
    • Another outfit added later was her Princess Heart costume.
  • Odd Name Out: Maria is the only Survivor with Only One Name. This is due to her not being a real person and never having an actual name. Even the name she's referred to is just a variation of the name of the person she's based on — Mary.
  • Palette Swap: Her Legendary sets change her into Lisa Garland, Cybil Bennett, James Sunderland, and Maria, complete with different voice and character portrait. She also has a Very Rare set that puts her in Alessa Gillespie's outfit.

    Felix Richter

Felix Richter - A visionary architect

Voiced by: Frédéric Poirier
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/s23_storebackground.png
"When they come with a wrecking ball, build stronger walls."

A renowned architect from Coburg, Germany. Felix's parents were members of a secret society known as the Imperiatti, of whom a young, shy Felix was told grandiose tales of battles against an ominous dark force by his father. His small friend circle of misfits in high-society, who took the name "The Pariahs", often occupied themselves by exploring the mysterious ruins of Dyer Island. One day, however, the Pariah's adventures led them to the former laboratory of Talbot Grimes, in which the Entity attempted to abduct them. They were only saved by the intervention of Felix's Father, alongside other Imperiatti members, who entered the Entity's realm in their place.

Felix and the Pariahs investigated exactly what had happened to their parents, but by the time they went their separate ways, the often confusing leads they explored left them no closer to finding the truth behind the Entity's abductions than where they began. Moving forward with his life, he devoted himself to his architectural career, helping overcome his awkwardness to project himself better to his clients and established an architectural firm with his colleague Lauren Golder, which eschewed the conventions of modern designs in favor of unique, experimental designs.

Despite becoming well-renowned for his one-of-a-kind buildings, Felix was always haunted by a sense of self-deprecation that he was merely playing the part of an architect, and not truly making a mark on the world. Wild parties and alcohol often served to distract him in these tough times, until he learned of his girlfriend's pregnancy. Getting his act together, he began to seek out a project he could use as a magnum opus so as to leave an inspiring legacy for his child. That project would take him back to Dyer Island at the request of his father's former colleagues.

During his restoration of the island, however, he was greeted with the sight of his lost father's return, through a strange fog. Felix pursued his father through the fog, disappearing without a trace. The Entity had finally claimed Felix.

As a Survivor, Felix's unique perks Visionary, Desperate Measures, and Built to Last grant him the ability to see the auras of unrepaired generators, increase his altruistic speeds for each Survivor in peril, and replenish depleted items using lockers. Visionary reveals the auras of all generators within 32 meters of your location, with the effect deactivating every time for a brief time after a generator is completed. Desperate Measures increases your unhooking and healing speeds for every Survivor that is injured, hooked or dying, including yourself. Built to Last allows you to replenish the charges of your items by hiding in a locker for a brief period of time.

Felix Richter is the nineteenth new survivor added to the game with the release of the Descend Beyond chapter on September 8th, 2020.

  • Dark Is Not Evil: Felix favors an all-black suit and looks like either Nicholai Carpathia or like he should be trying to kill Bruce Willis, but is overall a stand-up guy whose perks are focused on helping his team and aiding other survivors.
  • Disappeared Dad: Combined with Missing Mom, due to both of his parents being claimed by the Entity on Dyer island when he was younger. Felix himself is also this during present time, since he was taken by the Entity before his girlfriend gave birth to his child.
  • The Engineer: His skills reflect his engineering background, with Built to Last shows his careful treatment of his tools, Desperate Measures allows us to see him keeping his cool under pressure and Visionary is his ability to carefully plan and guide others towards a goal.
  • No Social Skills: His bio notes he's very socially awkward, which was a challenge he had to overcome in his adult life.

    Élodie Rakoto

Élodie Rakoto - An occult investigator

Voiced by: Beatrix Moersch
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/storebackground_s24.png
"I relied on others to protect me once and I lost everything. Never again."

Élodie Rakoto is an occult investigator, able to use cunning tricks and stubborn resolve to keep herself alive.

Her personal Perks, Appraisal, Deception and Power Struggle, allow her to rummage through already unlocked chests to gain new items, trick the Killer by faking a locker entry, and stun the Killer while she's being carried if the Killer walks through a pallet. Appraisal lets you look through unlocked chests to gain a second item three times per trial, while also increasing the speed at which you do so. Deception gives you the ability to trick the Killer by faking a rushed locker entry, hiding your own Scratch Marks and pools of blood for three seconds. Power Struggle activates after reaching a certain amount of struggle process while carried, allowing you to free yourself by pallet stunning the Killer if they walk through one's path.

Élodie Rakoto is the twentieth new survivor added to the game with the release of the A Binding of Kin chapter on December 1st, 2020.

  • Closet Shuffle: Inverted. Her Deception perk can end up discouraging this behavior from less-experienced Killers if she spams it often, as most tend to wise up after being fooled by it enough times. This can give some breathing room for her fellow survivors who might decide to seek refuge in a locker, or those with locker-related perks such as Leon or Nancy.
  • Damsel out of Distress: Power Struggle, one of her signature perks, allows her drop a pallet on the killer while being carried, stunning them and freeing herself. Notably, it's the only perk since Decisive Strike to fill this function.
  • The Trickster: Somewhat like Zarina before her. Her Deception perk allows her to interact with a locker while sprinting, creating a noise notification without actually entering it and leaving no scratch marks for a few seconds, duping a killer into spending precious moments searching the locker while she makes her escape.

    Yun-Jin Lee

Yun-Jin Lee - A self-interested music producer

Voiced by: So-Hee Kim
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/s25_storebackground.png
"I've dealt with psychopaths in suits. You're just uglier and worse-dressed."

Yun-Jin Lee faced several hardships on her path to finding success in the music industry. Having grown up in a family plagued by debt, she would eventually become an unpaid intern at famed record label Mightee One Entertainment after a failed audition to become an idol singer. As such, she took it upon herself to gain notoriety in the music industry under the pen name Magnum Opus, becoming the brains behind some of the greatest hits produced by Mightee One. When she was placed in charge of the struggling boy band NO SPIN, Yun-Jin came to the conlusion that they required a new member who could help the band's sound come across as less mainstream, leading her to recruit the aspiring musician Ji-Woon Hak. Her decision paid off for the band, which saw a massive increase in popularity while Yun-Jin gained further acclaim as a producer due to her sharp senses. However, tragedy would strike the promising young band when their studio caught fire during a recording session for their sophomore album, leading to the deaths of all NO SPIN members except for Ji-Woon.

Determined not to let these losses derail the promising careers of both herself and the musician she'd personally recruited, Yun-Jin worked with Ji-Woon to produce new music in preparation for a solo career, using his grief at losing his bandmates as a theme for his next song. This new track would go on to become a massive hit worldwide, and launched Ji-Woon's solo career under the name of "The Trickster". Ji-Woon would soon set out on a world tour with Yun-Jin as his manager.

However, during The Trickster's world tour, Yun-Jin began to notice a string of murder cases that seemed to coincide with Ji-Woon's music and his tour dates. At first, she feared that the culprit behind these cases could be an obsessive fan of the Trickster that might be targeting him, but after the tour ended and she returned to South Korea, she discovered a far worse truth during a recording session with her star musician. It seemed as if Ji-Woon himself had been committing the murders that had been occurring since his world tour. However, a combination of a lack of concrete evidence and a fear of being in the crossfire of the massive scandal that would come of such a revelation convinced her that she was probably just fearing the worst. A few months later, Yun-Jin learned that the executives at Mightee One believed that The Trickster's edgy and violent aesthetic was harming profits. While willing to stand up for her star artist, she did concede that Ji-Woon needed to dial back some of his experimental artistic choices to resonate better with wider audiences. Informing Ji-Woon that she did what she could to defend his integrity, he and Yun-Jin prepared for a private concert meant to showcase The Trickster's new direction to the executives.

However, during the performance, she and the executives were knocked unconcious by a gas trap. When Yun-Jin awoke, she came face to face with the awful truth. Ji-Woon really was the killer behind all the murders committed. Now, she was held captive and forced to watch as Ji-Woon carved up the executives before her eyes. As Ji-Woon prepepared to end her life as well after finishing his macabre masterpiece, Yun-Jin could feel nothing but burning anger as she and her would-be killer were enveloped in the black fog of the Entity. Now stuck in the entity's realm, Yun-Jin resolved to one day get her revenge on Ji-Woon and continue the legend of Magnum Opus at any cost.

As a Survivor, Yun-Jin's unique perks, Fast Track, Smash Hit and Self-Preservation, give her increased bonuses to her Great Skill Checks when other Survivors are hooked, allow her to move at an increased speed after stunning the Killer, and hide her signs of injury whenever a nearby teammate is wounded. Fast Track grants you tokens every time a Survivor other than yourself is hooked, with each token converting to bonus repair progress after hitting a Great Skill Check. Smash Hit lets you break into a sprint after stunning the Killer with a pallet. Self-Preservation activates after a Survivor is injured within 16 meters of you, hiding your Scratch Marks, grunts of pain, and pools of blood for a limited time.

Yun-Jin Lee is the twenty-first new survivor added to the game with the release of the All-Kill chapter on March 30th, 2021.

  • Anti-Hero: She's more ruthless and self-serving than other survivors, and her perks reflect this, allowing her to benefit from the misfortune of her teammates. Highlighted by the ending of her bio, which sounds more like a Killer than a Survivor and is reminiscent of Ji-Woon's desire for fans.
No, she would not let him. He would pay. He would know her suffering. Suddenly, dark coils of black fog rose from the ground and she was... somewhere else.
Bright lights flashed and blinded her. A spotlight found her in the darkness. Then a crowd erupted, chanting her name. "Magnus Opus! Magnus Opus!"
She smiled and welcomed the darkness within.
  • Determinator: In her archive tome she sets out personally to rescue Ji-Woon from what she thought was a murderous fan, even knowing she would get there before the police could back her up. She doesn't even let a car crash stop her.
  • Freudian Excuse: To put it gently, she had a rough life. From growing up in severe poverty, to fighting for recognition that Mightee One refused to give her, to having to get back on her feet after NO SPIN was killed, to ignoring the obvious signs that Ji-Woon was a dangerous serial killer right until he murders her coworkers and makes an attempt on her life. Needless to say, her standoffish personality and selfish tendencies start to sound more understandable, and archives also show that she struggled heavily with grief and guilt over the deaths of NO SPIN.
  • It's Personal: Has the most personal relationship with her Killer counterpart of the (non-licensed) Survivors released so far, as she had been the producer who handpicked the Trickster as NO SPIN's new member, relaunched him again to success after the rest of the band died, and worked closely with him over their careers. He saved her for last in his slaughter at Mightee One because of all she'd done for him and because he believed she was on his side, but forced her to watch his torture and murder of the Mightee One executives, who'd been her co-workers and friends, as his twisted idea of a "reward." While the Trickster's bio suggests he's fond of Yun-Jin if anything, her bio reveals that she on the other hand wants to make him suffer for ruining everything she had and killing her friends.
  • I Work Alone: All three of Yun-Jin's unique perks only benefit herself, often at the expense of others, such as gaining massive boosts to great skill checks when her teammates are hooked (Fast Track), or improving her own sneakiness when others are chased and hit by the Killer (Self-Preservation). About the only perk that doesn't carry a selfish connotation in either its name, effect, or flavor text is Smash Hit, which lets her escape from chases easier without requiring the suffering of anyone else.
  • Record Producer: Her most successful career, bringing the boy band NO SPIN to new heights.
  • Selective Obliviousness: Months before the Mightee One massacre, she recognized the screams in Ji-Woon's new song belonged to the same voice of a recent murder victim on the news, had a flash of intuition correctly piecing together that he was behind the murders that seemed to follow his tour dates... and then went into denial and convinced herself she was wrong when she realized that if it came out that he was a Serial Killer, it would destroy her career.
  • Super-Speed: Granted by her unique perk Smash Hit, where she will gain a massive sprint boost for four seconds after stunning a Killer with a pallet, allowing her to quickly make away before her pursuer can recover. As a trade-off, Yun-Jin becomes Exhausted after Smash Hit wears off, whereupon it cannot be used again until she has recovered.
  • Survivor's Guilt: Her archive tome shows she felt immense guilt over losing the other members of NO SPIN.

Rookie cop Leon Kennedy was late for his first day on the job at the Raccoon City police department when he got caught up in the nightmarish outbreak of the T-Virus spread by the corrupt Umbrella Corporation, transforming the city's populace into flesh-eating zombies. Fighting to survive and escape the city, Leon was eventually hired as a Secret Service agent tasked with rescuing the President's daughter from a Spanish death cult.

As a Survivor, Leon's unique perks, Bite the Bullet, Flashbang and Rookie Spirit, allow him to mask the noise of his healing, create a flashbang to blind the Killer, and reveal regressing generators. Bite the Bullet suppresses grunts of pain and all healing noises while healing yourself or another Survivor, and greatly reduces the penalty for missed Skill Checks while healing. Flashbang lets you craft a flash grenade in a locker after performing a certain amount of repairs. Rookie Spirit activates after hitting a certain amount of Skill Checks, after which the auras of regressing generators are permanently revealed to you.

Leon is the twenty-second new Survivor added to the game with the release of the Resident Evil chapter on June 15, 2021

Leon is the ninth Guest Fighter survivor to be added to the game, hailing from the Resident Evil series.

  • Adaptation Deviation: In either the original Resident Evil 2 or its remake, Leon never crossed paths with either Jill or the Nemesis, as his story officially takes place several days after the first half of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, by which point both of them have long since left the Raccoon City police department. His alternate skin makes it even more ridiculous, as Chris Redfield was in Europe around the time of the two games' setting. A more appropriate companion to Jill would have been Carlos Oliveiranote , but Leon was presumably chosen due to his franchise popularity.
  • Adaptational Wimp: This version of Leon was taken by the Entity after the Raccoon City Incident, which means that while he's not yet the unstoppable backflipping Action Hero of Resident Evil 4 (unless you equip the RE4 jacket costume), he still held his own against a Zombie Apocalypse with his wits and weaponry. In the trials, he's limited to crafting flashbang grenades and can't exercise any physical power or gunplay over the Killers. And if the trope applies to Leon, it definitely applies to his Legendary skin, Mr. Chris "Boulderpunch" Redfield himself.
  • Blinded by the Light: His Flashbang perk allows him to throw flashbang grenades, which behave like Firecrackers that can stun the Killer unless they look away, and can also force them to drop a carried survivor at any time, unlike flashlights which require the Killer to be stuck in an animation lock.
  • Grenade Spam: A downplayed case for his Flashbangs, which he can only hold one at a time but craft multiple of with the eponymous perk. As the trigger for this perk is reliant on generator repair progress, leveling it will lower the point threshold and allow Leon to craft more grenades in the long run, and a tricky player can deliberately let Killers regress gens so they can get more mileage out of each machine.
  • Guest Fighter: From the Resident Evil series, with his appearance taken from Resident Evil 2 (Remake).
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: He and Jill are much more combat-oriented than the typical Dead by Daylight survivor (even previous Experienced Protagonist survivors like Bill, Ash, and Cheryl), as embodied by their Blast Mine and Flashbang perks.
  • The Medic: His Bite the Bullet perk can be a boon for those running a supportive healer build, as it reduces the bar regression if you fail a skill check and also causes neither you nor your patient to make noise throughout the process. It also applies to yourself when using a Med-kit, and it even works if a player with this perk joins a group effort to heal a single teammate, whereupon everybody will stop groaning until it finishes (or is interrupted). Of course, you would still be sticking out like a sore thumb while doing this, but the chances of being heard by an unobservant Killer would be slim to none if you heal someone using this perk.
  • Mythology Gag: One of his alternate outfits is his iconic attire from Resident Evil 4.
    • Additionally, his Christmas Sweater has a couple. Not only is the design of his R.P.D. badge featured prominently, a series of zombie silhouettes are also found along the bottom hem.
  • Naïve Newcomer: Even compared to the likes of less experienced licensed survivors like Nancy and Steve, the latter two at least have had encounters with the supernatural and extremely close brushes with danger over the years. Meanwhile, this version of Leon is his Resident Evil 2 (Remake) version, not the Ganado-crushing, Plagas-exterminating badass he becomes later on, meaning this version of Leon is a rookie cop who’s stuck in a zombie-infested city without any preparation, making him the least experienced of the licensed survivors.
  • Palette Swap: His Legendary sets change him into Chris Redfield and Carlos Oliveira, complete with different voices and character portraits.

Jill Valentine was one of the S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team sent to investigate a string of mysterious murders in the Arklay Mountains near Raccoon City, and ended up stumbling across an old mansion infested with zombies and filled with death traps. Fighting to survive the nightmare, Jill learned of the evil experiments of the Umbrella Corporation with the deadly T-Virus. Upon escaping, she and the other S.T.A.R.S. members tried to tell people about their experience, but their corrupt chief was in league with Umbrella and silenced them, forcing mandatory leave upon Jill. As she was stuck at home, the T-Virus suddenly began to spread across the city, and Jill began to be chased by a giant, unstoppable mutant known as Nemesis.

As a Survivor, Jill's unique perks, Counterforce, Resurgence and Blast Mine, lets her cleanse totems faster and see their auras, gain half healing progress after being freed from a hook, and trap a generator to stun the Killer if they damage it. Counterforce allows you to cleanse totems 20% faster, applying another 20% speed bonus for every totem you cleanse and revealing the auras of the farthest totem after completing a cleanse. Resurgence automatically heals you for up to 50% health after you are unhooked by any means. Blast Mine lets you install a trap which stuns and blinds the Killer after they damage a generator after completing a certain amount of repairs.

Jill is the twenty-third new Survivor added to the game with the release of the Resident Evil chapter on June 15, 2021

Jill is the tenth Guest Fighter survivor to be added to the game, hailing from the Resident Evil series.

  • Booby Trap: Her perk, Blast Mine, allows her to booby trap generators, which will blow up in the Killer's face if they kick them, immobilizing them for several seconds.
  • Experienced Protagonist: Like Bill, Ash and Cheryl before her, Jill has already faced down plenty of monsters prior to the Entity stealing her away. Here, she's been taken from the events of Resident Evil 3 Remake and thus has escaped the zombie-infested Spencer Mansion and faced creatures like the Tyrant and Nemesis.
  • Guest Fighter: From the Resident Evil video game series, her appearance being taken from Resident Evil 3 (Remake).
  • Healing Factor: Her Resurgence perk automatically heals 1/2th her healing bar when she gets unhooked, which significantly speeds up her healing from the injured to the healthy state after being unhooked.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: She and Leon are much more combat-oriented than the typical Dead by Daylight survivor (even previous Experienced Protagonist survivors like Bill, Ash, and Cheryl), as embodied by their Blast Mine and Flashbang perks.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • One of her alternate outfits is her original Resident Evil 3: Nemesis design. The updated design of her S.T.A.R.S. uniform from the 3 Remake was added later, along with her wetsuit from Resident Evil: Revelations.
    • Her Christmas sweater is loaded with references. Her S.T.A.R.S. badge is front and center, along with her Samurai Edge handgun. On the back is a red herb, and her name is spelled out in typewriter keys as a reference to the save rooms.
  • Palette Swap: Her Legendary sets change her into Claire Redfield and Sheva Alomar, complete with different voices and character portraits.

    Mikaela Reid

Mikaela Reid - A young mystic

Voiced by: Adrienne Cowan
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/s28_storebackground.png
"Does anyone else see that? Just me?"

As a Survivor, Mikaela's unique perks, Clairvoyance, Boon: Circle of Healing and Boon: Shadow Step, allow her to see aruras of objectives and escape routes after tampering with a totem, allow Survivors to heal one another faster within an area, and grant Survivors a means of hiding their aura and scratch marks within the boon. Clairvoyance activates after cleansing or blessing a totem, and allows you to see the auras of hooks, generators, exit gate switches, chests, and the hatch within 64 meters if you are empty-handed. Boon: Circle of Healing allows all Survivors within the totem's radius to heal each other faster and reveals the auras of injured Survivors while the totem stands. Boon: Shadow Step hides your Scratch Marks and blocks your aura from being revealed by the Killer while within the totem's radius and for a short time after leaving.

Mikaela Reid is the twenty-fourth new Survivor added to the game with the release of the Hour of the Witch chapter on October 19th, 2021.

  • Achilles' Heel: Unlike Hex perks, which are spread out across several different Totems, all of Mikaela's Boons are centered on one, meaning that if a Killer actually got around to disabling it, two out of three of her perks will be out of commission until another survivor comes along and reactivates it. The saving grace to this is that Mikaela can bless any Totem she comes across, and blessing a Hex Totem will permanently remove its associated perk from the Killer's repertoire, whereas her own Boon Totems can only be temporarily disabled.
  • Everyone Went to School Together: Sable Ward was her best friend, who would later stumble into the fog herself while looking for Mikaela after she vanished.
  • Foil: To the Hag. Both characters have a fascination with magic in their lore, and were introduced with perk kits revolving almost entirely around Totems and active effects, with Hexes for the Hag and Boons for Mikaela. While the Hag utilizes her Hexes to divide and conquer, Mikaela's Boons encourage survivors to cooperate and not spread out too far from each other. If playing with only their respective character perks equipped, Mikaela actually hard-counters the Hag, due to her ability to convert Dull and Hex Totems into Boon Totems that benefit her group that can only be permanently dispelled with Shattered Hope, while also disabling many of her opponent's most nasty tricks.
  • Heal Thyself: Her personal Perk, Boon: Circle of Healing originally allowed any survivor within the radius to patch themselves up. It has since been changed to increase healing speed and display the aura of any injured survivor in the boon's radius.
  • Our Witches Are Different: She's a witch Survivor, a first for the series, and the one who introduces the new Boon Totem perks that were announced back in May 2021.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: She comes with two Boon Totem perks, which means that in order to get any use out of them, she has to sidetrack from doing other objectives to bless a totem, and even then her and the other survivors have to be in the totem's radius to use the perks properly.
  • Nerd Glasses: Huge, thick-rimmed circular ones.
  • Neurodiversity Is Supernatural: Played With, Tome 13 reveals she's dyslexic but doesn't suggest it has to do with her powers.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: Compared to other survivors' default outfits being more grounded and nondescript, Mikaela dons a full witch-themed outfit, complete with occult symbols and a witch hat, for her default outfit.
  • True Sight: Her Clairvoyance perk works this way. After cleansing a Totem, Mikaela can use her aura reading ability to automatically mark all nearby exit gates, generators, hooks, and chests for several seconds. Additionally, her Boon: Shadow Step actively counters this kind of ability for Killers with aura-reading perks, as all survivors within range of an active Boon Totem will leave no scratch marks and their auras cannot be read even for a few seconds after leaving the radius.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: Mikaela's boon perks can easily be countered by the Killer perk Shattered Hope, which allows Killers to permanently destroy the totem and utilize it with Hex: Pentimento.

    Jonah Vasquez

Jonah Vasquez - A mathematical mastermind

Voiced by: Michael Alvarez (prior to Patch 7.2.0), TBA (Patch 7.2.0 onwards)

"After careful analysis, we are getting the hell out of here!"

A CIA codebreaker possessing a talent with and passion for numbers and equations, Jonah found himself perplexed by an odd sequence of numbers written on a card that he recieved as a present when he turned sixteen. Outside of his attempts to solve this odd number puzzle, Jonah found himself working on various projects due to his job. Starting off investigating mysterious signals in Europe that seemed to relate to a group of powerful and wealthy individuals, he was moved to the new nation of Kwantana when that project was suddenly shut down. In Kwantana, Jonah worked to decipher codes that would allow the US to strike rebel forces that threatened the new democracy. However, he soon became consumed with guilt when he learned that he had been fooled by decoy messages, which had caused the death of numerous civilians. Seeking to atone for the atrocity he had unknowingly caused, he hacked into the computer network of the rebels and transferred their funds to the survivors and families of the victims.

After escaping the vengeance of the Rebels, Jonah was reassigned to once again work on the now-reopened signal project. His research soon led him to find that hidden messages about a powerful cabal of individuals had been hidden in a series of horror podcasts. While examining this code, he once again found the series of numbers from his card. Now determined to solve the mystery of the numbers, he tracked a set of GPS coordinates within the numbers to a myserious Chilean graveyard, and soon embarked on a journey to visit the site. While in the graveyard, he had a breakthrough that allowed him to finally reveal the secrets of the numbers from the card. The numbers were a set of two specific dates: the day when Jonah was born, and the day he solved the code. Confused by the revelations he gained from solving the code, Jonah soon found himself swept away by the fog, brought into the Entity's realm.

As a Survivor, Jonah's unique perks, Overcome, Corrective Action and Boon: Exponential, increase his burst of speed after being harmed, prevent his allies from failing skill checks while cooperating with him, and allow himself and others to recover in the dying state quickly and get themselves up without help after setting up a Boon. Overcome extends the speed boost you receive after being injured by two seconds. Corrective Action passively turns any Skill Checks your allies miss while healing or repairing with you into good Skill Checks. Boon: Exponential increases the speed at which Survivors who are within the totem's radius recover from the dying state and lets them fully recover without assistance.

Jonah Vasquez is the twenty-fifth new Survivor added to the game with the release of the Portrait of a Murder chapter on November 30, 2021.

  • Arc Number: When Jonah turned sixteen, he received a unmarked card containing the numbers 8, 25, 19, 44, 1; -20.37, -69.85; 13, 2, 26, 11, 1. Two of those numbers refer to a cementery in Chile, the others, through some codebreaking, correlate to Jonah's birthday and the exact moment The Entity took him away.
  • The Atoner: During his time in the CIA Jonah has deciphered several signals, and bombs were dropped on the sources. Only later he found out that those were decoys and that only civilians were killed. Horrified by this, he attempted to atone for this by transferring money to the victims' families.
  • Auto-Revive: Jonah's "Boon: Exponential" perk lets him bless a totem that allows downed survivors in its vicinity to recover to the injured state.
  • CIA: Jonah is a codebreaker for the CIA in his background.
  • Die or Fly: The "Overcome" perk allows Jonah to keep sprinting for longer after being injured by the Killer, in exchange for becoming Exhausted afterwards.
  • Formulaic Magic: One of his perks is a Boon, which uses his mathematical knowledge in a supernatural ritual.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Jonah is quite handy with technology and machines, and his "Corrective Action" perk can turn a Skill Check failure into a success.
  • The Unreveal: Neither Jonah nor the player ever learned who sent him the card with the mysterious numbers.

    Yoichi Asakawa

Yoichi Asakawa - A brilliant marine biologist

"しょうもんばかりしてると, 亡魂が来るぞ."translation

The son of university professor Ryuji Takayama and reporter Reiko Asakawa, Yoichi inherited the psychic capabilities of his father, giving him heightened senses and the ability to communicate with spirits. Yoichi was only a child when he and his family found themselves subject to the curse of a haunted videotape, incurring the wrath of the vengeful spirit Sadako Yamamura. Though he lost much of his family to the curse, he had managed to survive the ordeal. Following in his late father's footsteps, he chose to become a university professor, earning a degree in marine biology and earning his position at a young age. However, when two of his students disappeared in the town of Izu Oshima, the same town where his encounter with Sadako took place, Yoichi began to have strange nightmares and sensed an otherworldly presence. Believing there was some presence lurking in the sea that had caused this, he began to dive into researching the supernatural, at the expense of his credibility.

After his job as a professor was terminated, Yoichi found himself funded by the media company where his mother worked. As he continued his research, he was visited by the spirit of Ryuji, who instructed him to continue down this path. After learning of a set of mysterious disappearances in Scotland that seemed to share a connection with that of his students, Yoichi found himself traveling abroad to continue his research, with the spirit of Ryuji continuing to guide him. Led to a small formation of islands known as the Seven Hunters, however, he found himself facing rough waters, and eventually, the ship he had chartered crashed. Miraculously, Yoichi survived, and soon found himself walking through a mysterious black fog after his father.

As a Survivor, Yoichi's unique perks, Parental Guidance, Empathic Connection and Boon: Dark Theory, allow him to hide his scratch marks and signs of injury after a successful stun, reveal his location to injured allies, and increase the movement speeds of any Survivor within range of the Boon. Parental Guidance hides your Scratch Marks, pools of blood and grunts of pain for a short period after stunning the Killer by any means. Empathic Connection reveals your aura to injured Survivors and grants you a 10% speed boost to your healing actions. Boon: Dark Theory grants a 2% haste status effect to all Survivors within the totem's radius and for a short time after they leave it.

Yoichi Asakawa is the twenty-sixth new Survivor added to the game with the release of the Sadako Rising chapter on March 8th, 2022.

Yoichi is the eleventh Guest Fighter Survivor added to the game, coming from The Ring.

  • Child Prodigy: His provided backstory describes him as being particularly gifted in his studies and managed to graduate with top honors from his university, after which he became its youngest ever professor.
  • The Empath: The flavor text of "Empathic Connection" implies that Yoichi can sense the pain of other Survivors and subconsciously tries to guide them towards him in order for him to help them.
  • Kid Hero All Grown-Up: While in The Ring films Yoichi is featured as a child, here he is an adult man who works as a marine biologist.
  • In the Blood: Yoichi's innate Psychic Powers were passed down to him from his late father Ryuji, who also had supernatural senses and could see the dead. He even took after his father in his role as a university teacher.
  • The Medic: His "Empathic Connection" perk allows injured Survivors to seek him out so that he would heal them.
  • Papa Wolf: Not Yoichi himself, but his father Ryuji. The "Parental Guidance" perk implies that Ryuji's spirit is subtly warning and guiding his son to escape his pursuers from beyond the grave.
  • Raincoat of Horror: His main attire has him wear a bright yellow raincoat, in line with his occupation as a marine biologist who would spend days at the sea.
  • Stern Chase: The "Parental Guidance" perk allows him to completely hide his tracks while fleeing from the Killer after stunning them.
  • Super-Speed: His Boon perk, "Dark Theory", grants a small speed boost to any Survivors in the area of effect.

"The death, the trauma, the fear... it all leads here. The Overlap."

As a Survivor, Haddie's unique perks Inner Focus, Residual Manifest and Overzealous give her additional information to the whereabouts of her team and the Killer, inflict the Killer with Blindness after a flashlight blind and increase her repairing speed after cleansing or blessing any Totem until she's wounded. Inner Focus shows you the Scratch Marks of your teammates and reveals the Killer's aura if a Survivor is injured within 32 meters of you. Residual Manifest blocks the Killer's aura reading abilities for up to 30 seconds after you blind them by any means and guarantees you a basic flashlight from any chest on the map. Overzealous boosts your repair speed after blessing or cleansing a totem, with the effect being doubled if you bless or cleanse a Hex totem.

Haddie Kaur is the twenty-seventh new Survivor added to the game with the release of the Roots of Dread chapter on June 7th, 2022.

  • Covered with Scars: Haddie's arms and face are riddled with scars from the various times she's had run-ins with monsters from the Entity's realm.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Much like the Blight, Haddie has appeared in several pieces of lore prior to her playable debut.
  • Happily Adopted: After her parents' accident, Haddie was taken in by the Rois family who her parents were visiting the night they died. They and their own son Jordan welcomed her with open arms. Jordan would later help her in investigating the Overlap.
  • Mystical White Hair: She woke up with white streaks in her hair the day her 6th sense manifested.
  • Orphan's Ordeal: Her parents died in an accident after calling them on vacation to tell them she fell ill and they crashed their car returning to her. She's felt guilt over their deaths since then, and the ordeal has awakened her connection to The Overlap.
  • Psychic Powers: Haddie can sense areas where the Entity's power is slipping into the real world, and can see memories and feel emotions associated with the sites. She refers to this phenomenon as The Overlap.

    Ada Wong

Ada Wong - A mysterious secret agent

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/9fd15d15_fc5b_404c_8bdf_ce9dcd66a45d.png

As a Survivor, Ada's unique perks Wiretap, Reactive Healing and Low Profile allow her to track the Killer's aura near generators, heal faster when an ally is attacked and hide more easily when she is the last one standing. Wiretap lets you install a wiretap on a generator after completing a certain amount of repairs, revealing the Killer's aura whenever they come within 14 meters of the trapped generator. Reactive Healing restores up to 50% of your health progress if another Survivor is injured within 32 meters of you. Low Profile hides your Scratch Marks, pools of blood, and grunts of pain whenever you're the only Survivor in the trial who isn't hooked, dying, or dead.

Ada Wong is the twenty-eighth new Survivor added to the game with the release of the Resident Evil: Project W chapter on August 30, 2022.

Ada is the twelfth Guest Fighter survivor to be added to the game, hailing from the Resident Evil series.

  • Anti-Hero: Ada's morality is a lot murkier than her fellow Raccoon City Survivors. She'll generally be helpful, but she always has her own goals, and isn't afraid to moonlight as an ally of Wesker to get what she wants. "Reactive Healing", one of her perks, demonstrates this nicely, giving her a burst of healing whenever one of her allies is hurt.
  • Enemy-Detecting Radar: With her Wiretap perk, Ada can install a spy trap on a generator she's currently repairing, showing its aura to all other Survivors; if the Killer comes within 14 meters of the gen, they, too, are exposed.
  • Experienced Protagonist: An odd case. While Ada's design is lifted from the Resident Evil 2 (Remake), her bio makes reference to Las Plagas and Los Illuminados trying to sacrifice her, suggesting the Entity took her partway into the events of Resident Evil 4.
  • Guest Fighter: From the Resident Evil video game series.
  • Mythology Gag: One of her alternate costumes is her iconic red dress from Resident Evil 4.
    • Like fellow RE characters Leon and Jill, Ada's Christmas sweater has several references. Secret Agent is spelled across the front and the sweater is covered with her signature butterfly motif. The back displays her "Broom Hc" handgun from the Resident Evil 2 (Remake). Finally, like Jill, her name is spelled in typewriter keys to reference the classic save rooms.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: "Ada Wong" is an alias. Her real name is unknown.
  • Stealth Expert: It comes with her being a spy as her occupation. Furthermore, her Low Profile perk hides her grunts of pain, scratch marks and blood pools any time she is the only survivor not down, hooked or dead. Also, she's the quietest Survivor in the game even without the benefit from any perks, making her much harder to detect by sound.

As a Survivor, Rebecca's unique perks Better Than New, Reassurance and Hyperfocus gives additional buffs to other Survivors she heals, allow her to temporarily pause a hooked ally's timer and increase her bonus generator progression with each Great Skill Check she gets. Better Than New increases the healing, cleansing, and unlocking speeds of Survivors you heal. Reassurance allows you to pause a Survivor's sacrifice timer when you come within six meters of their hook. Hyperfocus increases the bonus progression of Great Skill Checks after hitting multiple Great Skill Checks in a row, at the cost of making Skill Checks more frequent and more difficult.

Rebecca Chambers is the twenty-ninth new Survivor added to the game with the release of the Resident Evil: Project W chapter on August 30, 2022.

Rebecca is the thirteenth Guest Fighter survivor to be added to the game, hailing from the Resident Evil series.

  • Child Prodigy: Noted to be one, given she graduated college at 18. Her perk Hyperfocus leans on her being such a quick learner, allowing her to complete tasks fast by ramping up the speed and progress granted by skill checks.
  • Difficult, but Awesome: Her Hyperfocus perk dramatically increases her generator repair speed, but requires you to be able to consistently get great skill checks to work and also makes getting great skill checks more difficult by increasingly speeding up the skill check speed. However, by combining it with Detective Tapp's Stakeout perk (which gives you great skill checks automatically) it becomes Simple, yet Awesome.
  • Guest Fighter: From the Resident Evil video game series.
  • The Medic: Her role within S.T.A.R.S., and her perks rely on her acting on it appropriately to become effective.
  • Mythology Gag: Just like Leon, Jill and Ada, her Christmas sweater has a number of references. Several go with her The Medic role, including blended herb capsules and first aid sprays. S.T.A.R.S. is spelled across the front, and the back has a basketball to reference the infamous photo of her in a basketball uniform.
  • Status Buff: Her "Better Than New" perk grants anybody she heals a speed boost to healing, opening chests or cleansing and blessing totems. "Reassurance" also aids hooked survivors, halting the sacrifice bar progression and any skill checks once activated.

    Vittorio Toscano

Vittorio Toscano - An endless wanderer

Voiced by: Luc De Villars
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/s34_storebackground.png
"I have seen great cruelty... and I have also seen another way."

The third son of a noble Italian family in the 14th century, Vittorio's father sent him for combat training under the knight who had trained his brothers. However, Vittorio's distaste for violence and preference for philosophy did not sit well with his mentor, who had one of his pages attack Vittorio. Though the nobleman defended himself, he never struck at his assailant, who ended up accidentally stabbing himself. This experience further solidified Vittorio's commitment to pacifism, so his father decided to send him off to study history and philosophy with his uncle, the duke of Portoscuro.

While studying, Vittorio became particularly enamored by the history of an ancient group who seemed to guard the secrets of an arcane knowledge that could either help humanity transcend to a higher plane, or lead to their own self-destruction. Hoping to create a better world, Vittorio and his uncle embarked on several expeditions to discover the secrets of this mysterious group known as the Observers. Their travels led them to discover many relics and learn more about the history of the Observers, who they learned had been imprisoned by a dark cult who sought to corrupt and destroy mankind. It was on these expeditions that Vittorio learned of a stone said to hold the secret to traveling the planes of the existence, which Vittorio gave the name of "Lapis Paradisus".

When his uncle perished due to a snake bite he suffered on their journeys, Vittorio inherited his belongings and became the new duke of Portoscuro. Determined to find the Lapis Paradisus, free the Observers, and help guide humanity to a brighter future, Vittorio planned a new expedition, enlisting the aid of the mercenary knight Tarhos Kovács for protection. However, he was betrayed and imprisoned by Tarhos, who had slaughtered the guardians of the catacombs where the stone was to be found. Locked by Tarhos in the dungeons of Portoscuro, Vittorio was tortured by the knight, who hoped to learn the secrets of the Lapis Paradisus. When Vittorio proved unbreakable, he was left to rot. In desperation, Vittorio began to etch the symbols from the stone onto the dungeon floor, hoping to use them to transcend to another plane of existence. Though it took him many tries, the duke would eventually succeed in transcending... right into the Entity's realm. Since then, he has wandered the bleak realm, on a quest to discover the secrets of the world he now inhabits.

As a Survivor, Vittorio's unique perks Potential Energy, Fogwise and Quick Gambit let him store chunks of repair progress for future use, reveal the Killer's aura with Great Skill Checks and give his teammates a boost to their repair speeds while he's being chased. Potential Energy allows you to store up to 30% repair progress for future use if you remain uninjured. Fogwise reveals the Killer's aura to you after passing a Great Skill Check on a generator. Quick Gambit increases the repair speed of any Survivor within 32 meters of you while you're being chased by the Killer.

Vittorio Toscano is the thirtieth new Survivor added to the game with the release of the Forged In Fog chapter on November 22, 2022.

  • Badass Pacifist: Vittorio frustrated his family, long trained in the merits of knighthood, by preferring to study antiquity and philosophy. But that didn't stop him from expertly parrying and dodging his mentor's strikes during his combat training, even resulting in his teacher's death by fatal accident.
  • Charge Meter: In a sense. His unique perk Potential Energy changes the dynamic of how he repairs generators. Instead of progressing its bar as usual, Vittorio can opt to store away minor chunks of progress as tokens, stacking up to a maximum of 20. At any time, the player can hit the ability button to consume all the tokens and convert them into progress in one lump chunk. This is effectively a hard counter to any Killer perks which rely upon generator progress percentages, notably Tinkerer, to activate.
  • Close-Contact Danger Benefit: Quick Gambit forces Vittorio to run the Killer close to generators for the other survivors to benefit; if the Killer decides to break the chase, they won't be too far from a new target.
  • Enemy-Detecting Radar: By just hitting a great skill check while repairing a gen, Vittorio is given the Killer's aura for up to six seconds with his Fogwise perk.
  • Foil: Vittorio and Tarhos couldn't be more dissimilar. Vittorio is compassionate, worldly and studious; Tarhos is cruel, single-minded and cynical. It helps that they were raised quite differently...
  • Gentleman and a Scholar: He's wise, humble, and genuinely wants what is best for humanity, and he spent his life researching the greater secrets of the planet's past to bring paradise to all with the help of the riches he inherited from his uncle.
  • Gone Horribly Wrong: His life's work became deciphering what he came to call the "Lapis Paradisus", certain that it would bring mankind to paradise. While he lay dying in the cell Tarhos had left him in, he struggled to inscribe the glyphs from the Lapis onto the stone floor while meditating upon his perfect world. If his incantations genuinely worked, then the stone was a false hope, as he was transported to the Entity's Realm as a result.
  • Nephewism: Enforced. His father was at his wit's end coping with Vittorio's pacifism, so he was sent to live with his uncle Renzo, who proved to be the intellectual match Vittorio desired in his life.
  • Old Master: Vittorio has existed in the Entity's realm for so long that he has learned a great deal about how it all works, reflected by his insane skill at Killer tracking and bending generators to his will via arcane knowledge.
  • Outdated Outfit: Defied. Despite his centuries of existence, he appears to have adapted well to more modern sensibilities in fashion, sporting a leather jacket, denim jeans and shortly trimmed hair in his default look, in contrast to Tarhos who has kept his suit of armor.
  • Really 700 Years Old: Nearly literally. Vittorio was born in 1343.
  • We Need a Distraction: His Quick Gambit perk utilizes this, having him take the role of running the Killer in exchange for other survivors getting boosted repair speed. But it's also fairly risky, since he needs to stay close to said repairing for it to work.
