    Ema Hinata
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/14ema11.jpg
Voiced by: Rina Sato (Japanese), Colleen Clinkenbeard (English)

The main heroine. Daughter of a renowned explorer who often works overseas for long stretches of time, she is used to fending for herself. Upon the start of her second year of high school, however, her father remarries and she moves in with her thirteen newly gained stepbrothers.

  • Affectionate Nickname:
    • Ema's classmate and friend, Maho, refers to her as "Hina". This is very convenient since it's a shortened version of both her maiden name, "Hinata" and her new family name, "Asahina".
    • Both Louis and Juli call her "Chi".
  • Audience Surrogate: To the point where she unfortunately gets little characterization of her own.
  • Babies Ever After: Depending on the route.
    • She and Masaomi are awaiting their unborn child in his route of the video game.
    • She and Subaru have a daughter in the manga version.
  • Brainy Brunette: Implied in the anime with the mention of her school grades being exceptionally high.
  • Cool Big Sis: He has a loving and close relationship with Wataru.
  • Curtains Match the Windows: Matching brown eyes and hair.
  • Daddy's Girl: Calls Rintarou "Papa". Even after she finds out that he isn't her birth father, Ema still considers him, her "Papa".
  • Dude Magnet: Just ask all 13 of her stepbrothers.
  • The Dutiful Daughter: She is a devoted daughter to her father, and tries her best to not let her new mother down.
  • Gamer Girl: Ema likes to play the games that Natsume's company makes.
  • Happily Adopted: What snapped out of her Heroic BSoD of being adopted was the fact Rintarou was such a caring and loving father.
  • Has a Type: In Hikaru's route, he asks her what her type of guy. She replies with "adult men".
  • Hidden Depths: She likes zombie video games.
  • In-Series Nickname: She is called "Chi" by Juli.
  • Meaningful Rename: A justified version. After her father remarries, her last name had to change from "Hinata" to "Asahina". Also again justified when it's revealed she was Happily Adopted by Rintarou when her biological parents died; her original last name was "Nagami" and changed to "Hinata" when she was adopted.
  • Oblivious Adoption: She was unaware that she was an adopted child by Rintarou.
  • Ordinary High-School Student: Prior to when her father got married.
  • Pink Is Feminine: Most of the outfits she wears outside of her school uniform are pink.
  • Nice Girl: Ema is honest, kind-hearted and polite girl that she cares for her new family.
  • Second Love: Depending on whose route is taken, she'll either end up as this to Ukyo (whose ex-girlfriend has a strong resemblance to Ema) or to Iori, whose girlfriend died.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: In any of the routes, Ema finds love along with a happy ending with one of her stepbrothers, who all are decent guys who swear their undying love to her.
  • Speaks Fluent Animal: Can understand Juli.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Rintarou commented on how much Ema resembles her mother. Who turned out to not be Rintarou's first wife, but a friend and wife of his senior.
  • Tsundere: In the manga.

    Juli

Voiced by: Hiroshi Kamiya (Japanese), Sonny Strait (English)

Ema's pet squirrel who has a mysterious ability to speak, though he is only understood by Ema and Louis. Despite his unassuming and cute exterior, he is fiercely protective of Ema and has made it his mission to protect her from "the pack of wolves" she now lives with. He has been with her since she was young and has given her the nickname of 'Chi'.

Asahina Brothers

    Masaomi Asahina
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_mpcpjxbins1spm57xo6_250.png
Voiced by: Kazuyuki Okitsu (Japanese), J. Michael Tatum (English)

The eldest son of the Asahina family. A doctor.

  • Afraid of Blood: Despite being a pediatrician.
  • Brainy Brunette: Well versed in the knowledge of medicine. Justified since he's a doctor.
  • Cool Big Bro: Especially to his youngest brother, Wataru.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Masaomi has dark brown eyes and hair.
  • Friend to All Children: He loves children and even has a special bond with Wataru.
  • Happily Married: In his route with Ema.
  • Hospital Hottie: His occupation is a doctor and like his brothers, Masaomi is quite handsome.
  • Irony: Despite the fact that Masaomi is a doctor, he does faint at the sight of blood. Virtually every type of doctor has to deal with blood.
  • Nice Guy: He's polite, mature, and mellow.
  • Older Than They Look: Downplayed. When you compare him to Ukyo and Kaname, he has softer facial features, his voice isn't as deep as them, and he's also shorter than them. This was brought up in the drama cds where it was mentioned he looks pretty young for a 31 year-old.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Though not played for drama. His character bio describes him as calm and rarely getting mad. In the game, it's possible to go through multiple playthroughs without ever seeing his angry sprite. The only time it does come up if one of his brothers (namely the ones in Passionate Pink) tries to interrupt his date with Ema.
  • Parental Substitute: He is the typical father figure of the household (considering his age) and looks over Wataru more often than most of the other brothers.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: At least according to Miwa. Out of all the brothers, Masaomi resembles their late dad the most.
  • Sweet Tooth: He usually has candy with him in his official art.

    Ukyo Asahina
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bc_ukyo.jpg
Voiced by: Daisuke Hirakawa (Japanese), Christopher Sabat (English)

The second son of the Asahina family. A lawyer.

  • Covert Pervert: He is extremely sexually repressed.
  • Dogged Nice Guy: His ex-girlfriend, Reiko Amamiya, only dated him to closer to his mother.
  • Hands-On Approach: He does this while teaching Ema to chop meat. Hikaru sees this and teases them mercilessly about it.
  • Has a Type: He used to fancy girls with huge breasts, but changed ever since Ema moved in.
  • House Husband: He's the cook of the house, and is frequently seen in an apron.
  • Motor Mouth: Downplayed. Ukyo doesn't talk a whole lot, but he can be quite social once he does have someone to talk to.
  • Not So Above It All: He realizes in his route he can be hot-blooded and aggressive like Yusuke and Tsubaki.
  • Real Men Cook: He is in charge of cooking/making meals.
  • Sharp-Dressed Man: Wears some pretty snazzy suits.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: Gender-flipped. Because Ema helped him remember that he was an important part in the functioning daily life of the family, and also helped him see that everything he did was appreciated and did not go unnoticed. These small gestures, like welcoming him home, thanking him, letting him know he was missed, eventually made him fall in love with her.
  • Smart People Wear Glasses: He wears glasses and is a successful lawyer.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: He looks like his mother as they both have blond hair and blue eyes.
  • Team Mom: He acts as the mother figure to the Family.
  • Trademark Favorite Drink: He has shown to drink tea a lot.

    Kaname Asahina
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1272321_1377827863111_full.png
Voiced by: Jun'ichi Suwabe (Japanese), Ian Sinclair (English)

The third son of the Asahina family. A monk.

  • Big Brother Instinct: Kaname is very protective over Iori. Justified when it's revealed that Iori is somewhat suicidal.
  • Big Little Brother: He is more taller and muscular than his two older brothers, Masaomi and Ukyo.
  • The Casanova: Judging by his flirting with Ema, he might be this trope.
  • Chick Magnet: He has endless amounts of women chasing after him. Most of his brothers have revealed they are jealous of the fact Kaname is "irresistible" to women and that he has endless amounts of "followers."
  • Chivalrous Pervert: A flirt? Yes. A Nice Guy who wouldn't force his feelings on Ema? Correct again.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Yellow eyes and blonde hair.
  • Dirty Old Monk: He's a monk, but tried to kiss his younger step sister.....the day they met no less!
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: In the Chivalrous Pervert variety; Kaname is described as the "most reliable brother" from Masaomi, the oldest Asahina brother.
  • Handsome Lech: A handsome man who loves to flirt with women, including his stepsister.
  • Hidden Depths:
  • Important Haircut: In his route Kaname cuts off his long hair, symbolizing that he has changed from the flirty, casanova monk to a serious, businessman who would do anything for the girl (Ema) he loves.
  • Ladykiller in Love: Began as a flirt, but comes to stop when he falls for Ema.
  • The Reliable One: Masaomi at one point states that Kaname is the more reliable than himself.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: Gender-flipped. Before Ema came to the family, Kaname was infamous for being a playboy, nothing more. However, Ema saw through his "gracious words" to the kind man he was within, even telling him that she knew he was a good person, which was a first for Kaname. The mere fact that she didn't fall for him like other women, and treated him and his brothers with genuine kindness was enough to spark his interest, and he soon found himself ever drawn in by her kind and caring heart.

    Hikaru Asahina
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/anime_manga_brother_conflict_hikaru_big.jpg
Click here to see Hikaru when he's not crossdressing.
Voiced by: Nobuhiko Okamoto (Japanese), Todd Haberkorn (English)

The fourth son of the Asahina family. A novelist.

  • Covert Pervert: In the Christmas Special, he takes a bath with Ema, both of them are naked and nothing happened. He still enjoyed watching her discomfort though. This trope is more obvious in the novel and his route however.
  • Deadpan Snarker
  • Fiery Redhead: So far Averted.
  • Harem Nanny: He keeps track of his brothers' feelings for Ema and teases them about. He even created a chart with the odds of each one winning her over. In episode 12 he tells Ema that her rejections did not get across completely and how the 'Brothers Conflict' will continue, with him in the fray.
  • Jerkass: He has a sharp tongue and teases Ema and his brothers mercilessly. In the novels, he attempted to convince his brothers to force themselves on Ema. This earns him a well-deserved punch by Kaname.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Despite the above, in the end, he is a good person who cares about his family, albeit in an unorthodox manner.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: Hikaru is a very handsome guy with long hair. Especially when he isn't crossdressing.
  • Manipulative Bastard: He fits this trope to a T.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: He feels no shame over wearing girly dresses.
  • Significant Green-Eyed Redhead: The only one among his brothers to have orange hair and green eyes.
  • Smoking Is Cool: Has been shown occasionally in the novel to smoke alongside Natsume.
  • Troll: Loves to watch his brothers' reactions when it comes to Ema. Special mention goes to him egging Azusa and Natsume on about their feelings for her, while Natsume is driving.
  • Wholesome Crossdresser: Zigzagged. He wants to get a feel for what it's like to be a woman, but in doing so, he does the same thing he accuses "tranny"'s of doing.

    Tsubaki Asahina
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_mpcpjxbins1spm57xo3_250.png
Voiced by: Kenichi Suzumura (Japanese), Micah Solusod (English)

The fifth son of the Asahina family and the first out of triplets with Azusa and Natsume. A seiyuu.

  • Beauty, Brains, and Brawn: The beauty to Azusa's brains and Natsume's brawn. Notably the only triplet to have his ears pierced, have dyed his hair multiple times, and likes to go clothes shopping.
  • Blue Oni, Red Oni: The playful, aggressive red to Azusa's calm, mature blue.
  • Character Development: Once he realizes that he's fallen in love with Ema as a man he becomes increasingly aggressive in his advances towards her. Shown in episode 6, whenever he pushes her down and pins her on the couch before forcefully kissing her. He is also shown to get extremely jealous whenever he sees Ema with one of his other brothers, especially Azusa. However, he later comes to realize that he has to be more considerate of her feelings so as not to hurt her. This causes him to become less forceful with her, but also makes his feelings intensify.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: Exhibits this to Ema after they share their first kiss. He asks her where he got the men's scarf (a Christmas present from Natsume) and admitted it "ticked him off".
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Azusa.
  • Nice Mean And In Between: He's not mean per say, but he really does pick on and embarrass some of his brothers and can be considered too self-absorbed to an extent.
  • Otaku: Is obsessed with imoutos and loves anime and games featuring them.
  • Same-Sex Triplets: He, Azusa, and Natusme are triplets with beauty marks and violet eyes.
  • Series Mascot: Along side with Azusa. They're usually front and center on the games' cover.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: Gender-flipped. Ema helped him to feel needed by someone who wasn't his twin, saying that while Azusa was good at some things, Tsubaki had roles all his own that only he could play. She made him realize that he had to stop comparing himself to Azusa, and just be himself, because it was the things that made him different from his twin that made him unique. She encouraged him in his goals and reignited his passion and drive, but also made him see that there were other people in the world, people that might look at him instead of Azusa. These small actions, that showed how much she cared for him and his brothers, are what eventually make him fall in love with her, and cause him to mature drastically.
  • Technicolor Eyes: Tsubaki has violet eyes.

    Azusa Asahina
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_mppfpnlhk81spm57xo2_250.png
Voiced by: Kosuke Toriumi (Japanese), Josh Grelle (English)

The sixth son of the Asahina family and the second out of triplets with Tsubaki and Natsume. A seiyuu.

  • Alliterative Name: Azusa Asahina. He's the only one in his family to have this.
  • All Love Is Unrequited: This could be said for all the Asahina brothers, but Azusa gets a special mention since he explicitly tells Ema that he's fallen in love with her in Tsubaki's route and he knows his feelings are one-sided since Ema is already in love with his twin brother. Subverted if you go for the secret threesome ending.
  • Always Someone Better: Unintentionally this to Tsubaki.
  • Beauty, Brains, and Brawn: The brains to Tsubaki's beauty and Natsume's brawn. As told by Ukyo, Azusa had high marks in high school and could pretty much apply and go to any college he wanted to.
  • Blind Without 'Em: He can't see well without his glasses. Tsubaki has poor eyesight too, but to a lesser extent. He tries to convince Azusa to wear contacts like he does, but Azusa finds them very troublesome.
  • Blue Oni, Red Oni: The calm, mature blue to Tsubaki's playful, aggressive red.
  • Born Lucky: His New Year's event reveals that each year, when the triplets draw fortunes at the shrine, he usually gets good luck while the other two gets bad luck.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: Only implied in the games, but actually gets more focus in the novels. He's actually pretty good at a number of activities but feels no real passion towards them. Even in voice acting, which he really likes, he doesn't work as hard as Tsubaki and is still considered the superior seiyuu.
  • Covert Pervert: In the Valentine's Day episode, he is seen to be day dreaming about sharing a bath with Ema, and he mistakenly kisses the bowl in front of him, believing it to be Ema in his fantasy.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Tsubaki.
  • Insecure Love Interest: He worries that Ema would prefer Tsubaki over him as a partner than him. Thankfully, it gets resolved later in his route.
  • Nice Guy: Azusa is very caring. He often thinks about others before himself.
  • Nice Mean And In Between: Out of the triplets, he's the nicest of three, since he always looks after his younger brothers and is always considering their feelings. Not unlike Masaomi and Ukyo.
  • Player Nudge: In Iori's route, one event has him noticed that Ema seems troubled because of Iori's weird behavior, so he asks if she wants to talk about her issues. If the player selects yes, Azusa will basically tell her that she needs spend time with the family and the problems will eventually be solved. This is the closest the game will hint to getting Iori's good ending.
  • Same-Sex Triplets: He, Tsubaki, and Natsume are triplets with beauty marks and violet eyes.
  • Series Mascot: Along side with Tsubaki. They're usually front and center on the games' cover.
  • Technicolor Eyes: Like Tsubaki and Natsume, Azusa has violet eyes.

    Natsume Asahina
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_mpcpjxbins1spm57xo1_250.png
Voiced by: Tomoaki Maeno (Japanese), Kyle Hebert (English)

The 7th son of the Asahina family and the third out of triplets with Tsubaki and Azusa. A worker at a videogame company.

  • Annoying Younger Sibling: Inverted. He's usually annoyed by Azusa and Tsubaki, his older brothers.
  • Beauty, Brains, and Brawn: The brawn to Azusa's brains and Tsubaki's beauty. He used to be in the track team back in high school and is still good at running in the present.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Either by looking Subaru's athletic career or saving Wataru from falling in a pond.
  • Big Little Brother: He's both the youngest and most muscular (and mature) of the triplets.
  • Broken Pedestal: His younger brother, Subaru, used to look up to Natsume because of his skill in sports. However, Natsume realized sports could not give him a better future and quit. He explains that even if he had continued, he would be doing it half-heartedly. This was the root of Subaru's hate for Natsume.
  • Brutal Honesty: Downplayed. Natsume is only honest when it's appropriate and he have a point when he's being honest.
  • Fiery Redhead: Averted. He's pretty calm and mellow and he dyed his hair an ornage-reddish color.
  • In-Series Nickname: He is called "Na-kun" by Wataru and "Natsu-nii" by Subaru.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Natsume has a blunt way of talking, but greatly encourages other people. He is very strict when it comes to problems and will willingly help to resolve it. He is rather calm and would protect his siblings.
  • Most Gamers Are Male: He's part of a videogame company; Ema enjoys the games from his company.
  • Nice Mean And In Between: He's in between. He doesn't tease as much as Tsubaki or look after as much as Azusa. He did had a meaningful bond with Subaru, but when they had a falling out, he didn't really do anything to repair that bond.
  • Same-Sex Triplets: He, Tsubaki, and Asuza are triplets with beauty marks and violet eyes.
  • Smoking Is Cool: Both he and Hikaru look damn good smoking.
  • Technicolor Eyes: Like Tusbaki and Azusa, Natsume has violet eyes.

    Louis Asahina
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/louis_and_curling_iron.jpg
Voiced by: Ken Takeuchi (Japanese), Jerry Jewell (English)

The 8th son of the Asahina family. A beautician.

  • Cloudcuckoolander: He has shades of this. For starters, he's the only character aside from Ema who can understand Juli. It also seems like he is sometimes not aware of his surroundings, being up in the clouds.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: Downplayed. There is a slight jealous shade to him, shown in the Valentine's Day special, when Iori comes out with a bouque of chocolate roses for Ema, Louis, along with the others who had tried and failed to make chocolates for her, ate one of the roses in the bouque so Iori wouldn't win. He was also shown to be worried at the end when he wonders who Ema bought the special chocolate for, at first being at peace if it was Juli. When this was proven wrong he, along with the others, was shown to be curious and worried about it once again.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: Out of the brothers, Juli seems to like him the most. Likely due to fact that he can understands him and knows his worries of the other brothers.
  • Hidden Depths: He turns out to be a very perceptive person.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: He's a handsome man with long hair.
  • Mellow Fellow: Louis is so relaxed he fell asleep on the floor on his way to the couch.
  • Nice Guy: Louis has a very calm and caring personality.
  • Odd Name Out: Louis is the only one with a foreign name.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: Louis is a professional beautician and takes much joy in styling hair, especially Ema's.
  • Speaks Fluent Animal: Like Ema, he can understand Juli.

    Subaru Asahina

Voiced by: Daisuke Ono (Japanese), David Matranga (English)

The 9th son of the Asahina family. An university student.

    Iori Asahina
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/df131eae86cdd5092afacbf2e77319a2.jpg
Voiced by: Daisuke Namikawa (Japanese), Eric Vale (English)

The 10th son of the Asahina family. A third-year high school student.

  • The Ace: The most popular guy in his high school and is well known in other high schools as well.
  • Broken Ace: After we learn of his past with Fuyuka.
  • Chick Magnet: He's so popular that girls from different schools are swooning over him.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Iori really loved his girlfriend, Fuyuka, and he would have given everything to her. Unfortunately, died in a car accident. Grief stricken by her death, Iori attempted suicide.
  • Death Seeker: After his beloved girlfriend, Fuyuka, dies Iori wanted to commit suicide to be with her.
  • The Generic Guy: In every route except his own.
  • Green Thumb: Not in the magical sense, but Iori takes care of the Asahina garden.
  • Guide Dangit: There's a good chance you won't get his good ending unless you look up a guide.
  • Nice Guy: He has a very caring personality.
  • Nightmare Fuel Station Attendant: He loves Slasher films, especially ones where many characters die in them.
  • Out of Focus: The anime doesn't really give him enough attention on par with his brothers. Most likely, they didn't want to reveal his Yandere side.
  • Sanity Slippage: This starts to happen when Ema consoles Iori when he tells her about his deceased girlfriend, after he collapsed in the snow. Note that before the event, Azusa and Tsubaki warns her that Iori is not good with snow.
  • Yandere: Shows shades of this in his route. He tried to murder, Kaname, his own brother because he thought that Kaname was getting too close to Ema.
  • Together in Death: What he wanted after his girlfriend, Fuyuka, passed away. And possibly with Ema too in his bad ending...

    Yusuke Asahina
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/496303_1377836467363_245_367.jpg
Voiced by: Yoshimasa Hosoya (Japanese), Matthew Mercer (English)

The 11th son of the Asahina family. A second-year high school student and Ema's classmate.

  • Big Brother Worship: Towards Subaru. Mostly because they both love sports, so Yusuke looks up to him as an ideal athlete.
  • Book Dumb: He has bad grades, and often has to take supplementary lessons.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: He never told Ema his feelings for her. Now since they're step siblings, his crush on her is even more difficult to conceal.
  • Curtains Match the Windows: Red hair and dark red eyes.
  • Delinquent Hair: Yuusuke has messy, short red hair with two braids.
  • Fiery Redhead: Acts and behaves like a wild Yankee.
  • First Guy Wins: If Ema pursues a romance with him.
  • Hot-Blooded: Easily riled up by his brothers, especially Fuuto.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Despite his wild personality, Yuusuke has a really strong sense of justice. He hates everything twisted, often getting into a fight with delinquents to defend what’s right.
  • Red Is Heroic: To the surprise of no one, it's his favorite color.
  • Tragic Keepsake: The necklace he wears is actually a charm his dad bought for him. When Miwa gave birth to Yusuke, he was a stillborn, so his dad gave him that charm for his protection and good health. He figured that since the charm protected him in past, it will protect him in the future. He also wears it since he feels like his dad is still watching over him from heaven.
  • Tsundere: Downplayed. He's a nice guy for the most part.

    Fuuto Asahina
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_mpcpjxbins1spm57xo5_250.png
Voiced by: KENN (Japanese), Vic Mignogna (English)

The 12th son of the Asahina family. A first-year high school student and an idol.

  • Advertised Extra: In the spinoff series, Fortissimo, He's in a lot group shots with Fortte for promotional materials despite the fact he's not a love interest and he's estranged from the group by the time the story begins.
  • Big Eater: Downplayed: He's an idol, so he has to watch what he eats. Though he's always asking Ema to make him something in his route and Louis' route has him asking him to get takoyaki, crepes, fried chicken, and cotton candy at Ema's school festival.
  • Big Little Brother: To Ema, after hitting a growth spurt he becomes taller than her.
  • Bratty Teenage Daughter: A son variant. Fuuto is the most sarcastic and teasing of his siblings.
  • Chick Magnet: Many girls find Fuuto attractive.
  • Curtains Match the Windows: Fuuto has brown eyes and messy light brown/pink hair.
  • Entitled to Have You: Out of all of his brothers, Fuuto has the most entitled behavior toward Ema, often invading her space the most and then claiming how she is "his" before he attempted to rape her in the anime.
  • Hair Color Dissonance: Is his hair light pink or light brown?
  • Hidden Depths:
    • He has a deep interest in acting.
    • He is well known as an exceptionally good dancer.
    • In Yusuke's route, when realizes Ema's being bullied by a jealous freshman at school, he's the one who tells Yusuke about the problem.
  • Idol Singer: As "Fuuto Asakura". This is the main reason why he's rarely at home.
  • In Touch with His Feminine Side: Pink is one of his favorite colors and he loves to go shopping.
  • Meaningful Rename: Justified. Known as "Fuuto Asakura" as an idol in order to keep his professional and personal lives separate.
  • No Sense of Personal Space: Out of Ema's stepbrothers, Fuuto is the one who invades her space the most.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Downplayed. While he's not "evil" he has the most jerkass moments of his brothers. And he attempted to rape Ema in the anime.

Other

    Rintarou Hinata
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/0036.jpg
Voiced by: Masaki Terasoma (Japanese), David Wald (English)

The father of the protagonist, Ema Hinata. He travels all over the world, which left his daughter alone, but he still cares about her and would do anything for her.

  • Disappeared Dad: Downplayed. Rintarou is a part of Ema's life, but he sometimes had to leave her alone because of his job.
  • Good Parents: Despite his job, Rintaoru was still a good father to Ema. He gets even more points as a nice guy, when it's revealed that Ema wasn't his daughter by birth, but the daughter of his friends. After they died, instead of placing Ema in an orphanage, what did he do? Adopted, raised, and loved her like she was his own.
  • Meaningful Rename: A justified version like his daughter. He took Miwa's family name when they were married, which is customary.
  • Mellow Fellow: He is calm and gentle.
  • Nice Guy: A genuine sweet man.
  • Older Than They Look: He's actually 50-years-old but looks like he can be in his 30s.
  • Perma-Stubble: He has a slight bit of stubble on his chin.
  • Second Love: To Miwa, as her first husband died sometime in the past.

    Miwa Asahina
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/miwa_a.jpg
Voiced by: Kikuko Inoue (Japanese), Jamie Marchi (English)

The mother of the Asahina brothers and step mother to Ema. She works as a fashion designer.

  • Absurdly Youthful Mother: She looks like she's in her late 30s while her eldest son is 31 himself.
  • The Fashionista: Her job is a fashion designer.
  • Good Parents: An implied version. She immediately accepts Ema into her family and her sons don't have an ill word to say about her.
  • Good Stepmother: She and Ema get along quite well with Miwa being ecstatic over having a daughter and asking Ema to call her "mama".
  • The Maiden Name Debate: Miwa kept her last name after remarrying to Rintarou, with him being the one to change his last name.
  • Meaningful Name: The "mi" part of her name means "beautiful". Fitting for such a good-looking woman.
  • Nice Girl: She has a bright, candid personality.
  • Shipper on Deck: She would prefer Ema to be with Masaomi.
  • Teen Pregnancy: An implied version. She's 49 and her eldest son, Masaomi, is 31. Thus, she was about 18 when she had him.
