"Taiyooooooooooh!"

The main character and player character of the first three games, and the eponymous character of Boktai 2. Django is the last of the Solar Children, and current wielder of the Gun Del Sol, which he inherited from his father, Red Ringo, the greatest vampire hunter. Django tries to follow his father's footsteps as a vampire hunter. Django is usually accompanied by his friend and mentor, Master Otenko, and he drags around a coffin, used to transport vampires after he has defeated them.

He is named after Django from the film of the same name.

  • Anime Hair: While not as noticeable in the first two games, Django's hairstyle is rather spiky in a manner not dissimilar to a Yu-Gi-Oh! protagonist. Official art, the third game, and the Battle Network crossovers help convey this much better.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: After being half-vampirized by his father, his powers are temporarily switched out for traditional vampire ones. He eventually gains control over both.
  • Dhampyr: Becomes a genuine half-vampire after being bitten by his father in 2 and promptly Piledrived. He switches between both human and vampire forms at will.
  • Elemental Powers: While he is naturally Sol-aligned, Django's Lunar Child heritage's power to "reflect" other magic lets him use the four classic elements by channeling his magic through the enchanted lenses of the Gun Del Sol. Being half-vampirized eventually lets him use Dark as well.
  • The Gunslinger: In the first game, his sole weapon is the Gun Del sol. In the sequel, it gets stolen within the first few minutes of gameplay, forcing him to learn how to defend himself with swords, spears, hammers and his own bare fists.
  • Heroic Mime: Seems like this at first, but actually averted, as he usually has a few things to say at the end of 1 and 2. He also speaks regularly in 3, and in the crossover scenarios of Mega Man Battle Network 4 and 6.
  • Heroic Willpower: Firm believer in this. Sabata even thinks it's his strongest trait. It's implied that this is how he got his solar power back after being vampirized.
  • The Immune: His dual heritage makes him near-immune to the power of the undead. For normal people, the mere touch of Kloroflun would transform them into an undead monster. For Django, it's only a very minor bit of damage he can easily recover from. It took the power of a being of pure darkness to overwhelm his resistance and turn him in 2, and even that only partially worked.
  • Light 'em Up: He has a natural affinity to Sol-based powers.
  • Light Is Good: He is the protagonist and hunts vampires, Django himself fighting in support of life.
  • Mix-and-Match Weapon: One of the main combat gimmicks in 1 and 3 is the ability to customize the Gun Del Sol, giving it different attack types and elemental attributes. It isn't present in 2 because the gun was stolen and broken.
  • Money Dumb: Potentially with Dark Loans, depending on player choices. Otenko even cautions him about not following in his father's footsteps.
  • Multi-Melee Master: Gets several types of melee weapons in 2 because of said theft. He retains both ranged- and melee-based fighting styles in 3.
  • Not Quite Dead: In the beginning of Boktai 3. He was presumed dead, but his vampire blood helped to save him. He was still stuck underground though, only broken out by Trinity falling from the sky.
  • The Power of the Sun: Django's power, whether he channels it into his weapons or magic, comes from sunlight.
  • Red Is Heroic: He is associated with the color red due to his scarf. His default state in the later games is referred to as "Red Django".
  • Scarf of Asskicking: Inherited from his father. Otenko uses this connection to his father to encourage him when he's down.
  • Slow Laser: The Gun Del Sol, although most of the time they're more like laser bullets.
  • Sword and Gun: As depicted in the character image. It's the third game where he gets to use both melee weaponry and his Gun Del Sol in full.
  • Super Mode: Has two: Sol Trance and Black Django.
  • Superpowered Evil Side: In 2 as a screen-cleaning Desperation Attack if Django takes too much consecutive damage in vampire form. Save for this, Django is still very much himself, but he still has to resist his vampiric instincts or risk being consumed by them.
  • Yin-Yang Bomb: As the son of Solar Child father and Lunar Child mother, Django inherited the powers of both lines, making him ideal for fighting the undead. He later dips into this further when vampire blood is introduced to the mix, letting him freely use the powers of darkness.
  • You Killed My Father: Django's mission in the very beginning of the game is to defeat the Count, who killed his father. Subverted in that the Count actually turned his father into a Vampire, rather than killing him completely.
  • Young Gun: The Solar Boy, who has inherited his late father's weapon and must defeat the Immortals in his place.

    Otenko

The Messenger of the Sun who aids Django on his quest. Resembles a sunflower with eyes and a long nose.

  • Adaptation Name Change: He is inexplicably called Toasty in the English release of Lunar Knights, despite all previous games addressing him by his original Japanese name.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: He’s the emissary of the Sun and embodiment of its will.
  • Astonishingly Appropriate Appearance: He is the embodiment of the Sun's will. He is in the shape of a sunflower that resembles the Sun itself more closely.
  • Complete Immortality: He cannot be killed. If his physical body is destroyed, he’ll just generate a new one. The only way to get rid of him is to seal his spirit in another being.
  • Exposition Fairy: His main role in the games. This results in Django looking like a silent protagonist at first glance.
  • Gag Nose: He has a pretty long nose. A comment from Otenko in the Boktai 1 results website if you get the Berserker Rank note  implies that his nose is actually a mouth.
  • Light 'em Up: Played With: though he cannot fight, he is still the Messenger of the Sun and the embodiment of the Will of the Sun.
  • Light Is Good: He is the embodiment of the will of the Sun and wants the Sun to shine in people's hearts. He supports the protagonist and life itself.
  • Like Cannot Cut Like: Being the Messenger of the Sun and the embodiment of the Sun's will, the Gun Del Sol cannot hurt him. Solar shots would only make him grow. Shots of any other element only make him change color.
  • Make My Monster Grow: Downplayed: Shooting him with a Solar shot from the Gun Del Sol only makes him grow up to twice his rather tiny size, and he turns back to normal once the shot disappears.
  • Non-Action Guy: He outright says in Boktai 1 that he cannot fight.
  • The Power of the Sun: Otenko is the living embodiment of the Sun's will.
  • Sealed Good in a Can: In every single game. He is imprisoned inside Sabata in 1, Dainn in 2 and Vanargand in 3.
  • Support Party Member: In Boktai 1, he says that his role is only to support.

    Dark Boy Sabata

Django's twin brother, and current owner of the Gun Del Hell. While Django draws power from the Sun, Sabata is aligned to the Darkness. He is a major antagonist in the first and third games, and is also playable in the second and last ones for some brief segments.

  • Archnemesis Dad: Archnemesis aunt, to be precise. She kidnapped Sabata and raised him to be a ruthless killer. He takes revenge on her at the end of the first game.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: He becomes Ratatosk's puppet in the third game.
  • Casting a Shadow: As a fellow Solar and Lunar Child descendant, he should be able to use any element, as his brother does. Unfortunately for him, Hel's experiments destroyed his ability to properly use anything but Dark.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Despite his power over darkness, his weapon being called the Gun Del Hell, and his somewhat demonic appearance, Sabata is not evil. His antagonistic roles are always due to the influence of another, far more menacing being.
  • Dark Magical Girl: Raised by his abusive, demonic aunt, infused with the power of Dark Matter and trained to murder his own brother.
  • The Dragon: Works as Hel's main lackey in the first game.
  • Fusion Dance: Fuses with the Beast of destruction in the third game. Django must finish the battle without injuring his brother to attain the best ending.
  • Heel–Face Revolving Door: Starts out an antagonist, but becomes an ally at the very end of the first game and is unambiguously heroic in the second one. Then Ratatosk decides to make him the vessel of Vanargand and he becomes far more evil than he ever was.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Sabata willingly operates the Piledriver in the second game to prevent Django from becoming a vampire, knowing full well it could kill him. Fortunately, he survives, but suffers severe wounds.
  • Money Dumb: Sabata is shown to have been in debt to Dark Loans at least once in the first entry, with even Otenko remarking in pity.
  • My Greatest Failure: He never stops blaming himself for being unable to save his parents or Carmilla.
  • The Sacred Darkness: He eventually succeeded his mother as the Moon Beauty.
  • Spectacular Spinning: The Gun Del Hell's charge shot lets him spin in place while a wave of red and dark energy circles around him.
  • Star-Crossed Lovers: One of his main motivations is to find a way to save Carmilla from her dark fate so that he and she can finally be together. Unfortunately, circumstances always seem to prevent him from accomplishing this goal.
  • Together in Death: Should the player injure Sabata even only once during the final battle in 3, he will die and join Carmilla inside Vanargand.
  • Yin-Yang Bomb: Like his brother, he has a natural inclination to this. Unfortunately, Aunty Hel's experiments all but destroyed his ability to use the Solar potion of heritage and limited his Lunar abilities significantly. While he is still technically able to activate his Sol powers, attempting to invoke them would be near-fatal to him.
  • Weakened by the Light: As his body is imbued by the power of Dark Matter, Sabata takes continuous damage from exposure to sunlight. Even with the best magical protection available to non-Immortals, Sabata nearly dies when he tries to use the Piledriver to purify Django in the second game.

    The Count of Groundsoaking Blood

Voiced by:
  • Akio Ōtsuka (JP)
  • Guy Perryman (ENG)

A powerful Immortal, and the one whom Django blames for the death of his father. No matter how many times he is beaten, he always seems to find a way to return.

  • Anime Hair: His hair looks like a pair of horns.
  • Arch-Enemy: He's Django's longest lasting opponent and responsible for much of the tragedy in his life. He was previously this to Ringo before eventually defeating him.
  • Badass Armfold: His default stance mixes this and Power Floats for intimating effect.
  • Blood Magic: He pulls this off in the third game to great effect, making it literally rain blood to deal constant damage to Django.
  • Blood Knight: He seems to really enjoy fighting Django, declaring himself to be his eternal rival, destined to come back again and again to battle him.
  • Boss-Arena Idiocy: For reasons unknown, in the first game he decides to fight in a room with an open skylight, which can be exploited to damage and stun him. However, in the second battle he will quickly float around them instead.
  • Classical Movie Vampire: He's the most traditional of all the vampires in the series. He's aristocratic, wears a high collared black suit with a cape, stays in a dark castle filled with undead minions, used blood and bats for attacks, drains blood by biting his victim's necks, and is one of the only humanoid Immortals that does not change into a monstrous form for battle. In a world full of extremely strange "vampires", he stands out for being so classic, yet still always being powerful to be one of the main threats every time he appears.
  • Clothing Damage: He loses his cape once he takes enough damage in the first game.
  • Co-Dragons: He and Sabata are Hel's most trusted minions in the first game.
  • Daywalking Vampire: In the third game, He drains enough power from the Ancient Solar Tree to remove his vulnerability to sunlight uses this new power to handily defeat Django. It takes Django getting his own power-up from the Ancient Solar Tree and Otenko to overwhelm him after that.
  • Defecting for Love: Dainn claims the Count betrayed his faction because he fell in love with Hel.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: He is the Immortal of Earth, after all. One of his attacks involves raising bloody spikes from the ground to impale his opponents from below.
  • Dragon Their Feet: Subverted and played straight. The Count does die before Hel- twice! But he returns afterward anyway to fight Django.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: He truly does love Hel. He was actually sent by Dainn to spy on Hel, but he fell in love with her anyways.
  • Evil Laugh: He lets one out whenever he appears.
  • From a Single Cell: Of a sort- as long as any of his bats survive, he can regenerate. Presumably he's pretty careful about leaving extra lives for himself.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: He is implied to be the one who gave ShadeMan a physical body in the second game.
  • Hero Killer: He was the one who defeated and turned Ringo before the first game.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: In the first game, you can blast his floating swords back at him, and his charge attack can be used to burn him with the skylights.
  • Horror Hunger: As a vampire, he does suck blood, and will be glad to demonstrate the fact when you fight him, because...
  • Life Drain: If he manages to grab Django he will bite him, healing himself.
  • Monster Progenitor: He can turn other people into Immortals, such as Carmilla and Ringo.
  • No Name Given: We only ever know him as "The Count", which is more a title than anything.
  • Power Floats: How he moves around in battle.
  • Summon Magic: Can summon levitating swords and spiders in the first game.
  • Starter Villain: He's the first boss in the series, though don't think that's the last you'll see of him.
  • The Mole: He was originally supposed to spy on Hel, but he developed a crush on her instead.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: He can turn into a swarm of bats at will, which is actually how he avoids death.
  • Weakened by the Light: It burns him, as you may expect. By the time of his last battle in the third game he absorbed enough power to walk in sunlight unharmed. Django only defeated him by unlocking his full potential to overwhelm him.
  • We Will Meet Again: After every defeat, he promises to return to face his Django again.
  • Who Wants to Live Forever?: If the diary Django finds in the first game is any indication, the Count finds his daily grind very boring. Fighting hunters, on the other hand, now that’s a good time.
  • Worthy Opponent: In their first battle, The Count dismisses Django as a child, but the second time he takes him seriously and refers to him by name. After that, he seems to relish any chance he gets to face Django again.

Immortals

    Carmilla

Voiced by:
  • Bianca Allen (ENG)

An Immortal who shares a close relationship with Sabata. She is an antagonist in the first game, but returns as an ally in the third.

  • All the Other Reindeer: Carmilla was hated when she was human due to her powers. Being turned into an Immortal by the Count probably didn't help.
  • Attack Its Weak Point: The majority of her snake body is immune to damage, and she can only by harmed by attacking the rattle at one end or the female body at the other.
  • Beware My Stinger Tail: Not quite a stinger, but a rattle, which she uses as a bludgeon, both to whip Django and to try and smash him into the wall.
  • Blow You Away: She is the Immortal of wind, though this isn't really shown.
  • Boss-Arena Idiocy: In order to capitalize on her Taken for Granite magic spells, Banshee's boss room is filled with mirrors to make the attacks snake around and ricochet dangerously, and she can turn them or even destroy them at will. Unfortunately, Django can also turn them, allowing him to seize control of the path of the spell.
  • Breath Weapon: Fires petrifying blasts from her mouth.
  • Forced into Evil: She really has no choice but to fight Django—the only way that could be avoided is if Django doesn't attack her, as she points out.
  • Flunky Boss: Can call in cockatrices to help her.
  • Game Face: As Banshee the Deathbringer, the humanoid part of her body is still gorgeous. However, when she fires her orbs of magic, she gets Red Eyes, Take Warning and her face splits open like a snake.
  • Gorgeous Gorgon: In her boss fight, Carmilla turns into an immense Lamia with slithering locks of hair and a sexed-up new cut for her red dress and attacks with orb of magic that turn whatever they hit to stone. This form is called Banshee the Deathbringer.
  • Heel–Face Turn: She returns as a ghost in the third game and allies herself with Django.
  • Hero Killer: Kills Otenko, though it doesn't stick.
  • Hoist by Their Own Petard: The Boss-Arena Idiocy is meant to enable Django to reflect her Taken for Granite attacks back at her weak points. When beaten, she turns into stone and promptly crumbles.
  • Not Quite Dead: She returns in the third game as a ghostly ally.
  • Palette Swap: If you initiate her boss battle between the hours of midnight and 3:00 AM, Carmilla will appear with a blue dress and her monster body will be different shades of purple instead of blue and green.
  • Power Floats: Does this briefly before her battle.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Inverted. Carmilla wears red and is sad and withdrawn, while friendly and outgoing Lita wears blue.
  • Sadly Mythtaken: Despite the name of her monster form, Carmilla is a mixture of Gorgon and Lamia monsters, and has nothing to do with the shrieking banshees.
  • Sealed Evil in a Duel: She willingly decides to remain sealed with Vangardr on the moon to prevent the beast from ever awakening again.
  • Star-Crossed Lovers: With Sabata. The two apparently fell in love some time prior to the first game, but circumstances continue to keep them apart.
  • Taken for Granite: Her attacks can petrify Django. She turns to stone herself when you slay her.
  • Tragic Villain: Demonized by people for her powers in life, transformed into an Immortal unwillingly, forced to serve Hel's evil schemes, killed by an enraged Django, and eternally sealed with an undying horror. There's a reason her epitaph is the Crying Witch.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: Can appear in her normal humanoid form or the monster form for battle.

    Hel

Voiced by: Donna Burke (EN)

The Queen of Darkness, who is the main antagonist of the first game.

  • Abusive Parents: As the adoptive mother of Sabata, she raised the boy to be a ruthless and cold-blooded killer.
  • All Your Powers Combined: She can use the attacks of previous bosses during her first phase, including Fenrir's ice breath and Muspell's meteor shower.
  • Anime Hair: Resembles four horns, although her true form hints that's what they actually are.
  • Big Bad: Of the original game.
  • Cain and Abel: The cruel and greedy elder sister of the benevolent Moon Beauty, Mani. She was the one who killed her sister in attempt to steal her power for her plans to transform the world into her own undead kingdom.
  • The Corruption: Infuses Sabata with Dark Matter, granting him dark powers in exchange for vulnerability to sunlight.
  • Evil Uncle: Hel is the sister of Django's mother, yet she plots to kill him by twisting his brother into an agent of Darkness.
  • Giant Hands of Doom: Her main attack in her second form is slashing at the boys with her giant skeletal hands. All four of them must be temporarily destroyed with the Gun Del Sol in order to leave her head vulnerable.
  • No-Sell: Her second phase is immune to normal attacks, forcing Django and Sabata to combine their power into charged shots.
  • Life Drain: In her second phase her giant hands can grab Django or Sabata to bite them and heal herself.
  • One-Winged Angel: Transforms into a gigantic horned skeletal beast after being hit with a solar-charged Otenko.

    Black Dainn

Voiced by: Eric Kelso (EN)

An Immortal with dominion over shadows and the mastermind behind everything that happens in the second game.

  • Antichrist: His purpose is to revive the Doomsday Beast Jormungandr, which will destroy the world. The plan was supposedly in the works since 1, but got delayed due to the Count defecting.
  • Big Bad: Of 2, though he is not the final boss. That honour goes to the beast he was trying to awaken, Jormungandr.
  • Casting a Shadow: The self-proclaimed Shadow Immortal can generate claws and orbs of darkness to attack.
  • Climax Boss: He's the main antagonst of the second game and defeating him is big part of it but by the time he's beaten, Jormungandr is already revealed as the biggest threat.
  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Black Dainn— He wears black.
  • Creepy Child: He begins the second game in the form of a pale young boy and doesn’t even pretend to act as anything less than the undead monster he is.
  • Demonic Possession: He spends the majority of the second game controlling the cat Nero before moving on to a far more interesting host: Ringo.
  • Duel Boss: Despite that his fight starts out with Sabata helping you, both he and the recently-freed Ringo are too exhausted to continue, forcing Django to fight Dainn alone.
  • Eviler than Thou: Dainn openly mocks the first game antagonist.
Dainn: "Imagine someone like Hel becoming queen! What a bad joke!"
  • Grand Theft Me: After his altercation with a no longer Brainwashed and Crazy Ringo, he pulls this on him.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: The Count was operating on his orders before defecting in the first game and his plans are much more destructive than Hel's were.
  • Living Shadow: Dainn has no form of his own, manifesting itself as just a mass of pure darkness that can possess living beings. He originally appeared as a pale young boy, but decided to abandon that for the form of Vampire Ringo.
  • Omnicidal Maniac: He plans to release Jormungandr to wipe out the living.
  • Spell My Name with a "The": Dainn is referred to as the Black Dainn and the Black Shadow.
  • Taking You with Me: His final fate is being burned in the Pile Driver in vampire Ringo’s body while Ringo’s spirit restrains from escaping into another body.
  • Viler New Villain: Hel's plan was turn the entire world into the undead. Black Dainn wants to simply wipe out all life.
  • Weakened by the Light: Dainn's shadow attacks are much weaker and do not last as long when the GBA game catches direct sunlight.
  • We Can Rule Together: Seeing that Django has become way too much of a threat after gaining both Sol and Dark power, he tries this with him. Agreeing leads to a Downer Ending.
    • He tries this again on Ringo as the two are in Pile Driver. He offers him immortality and a place of power if he just lets Dainn escape. Ringo mocks the attempt, saying that he was already dead as a vampire and happily accepts being purified with Dainn, trusting that his sons will protect the world in his stead.
  • You Don't Look Like You: For reasons unknown, he assumes Ringo's form after being exorcised in his boss battle. The game makes it evident that the blackened Ringo is in fact Dainn by using both his own character portrait and his voice.

    White Duneyrr

Voiced by: Lenne Hardt (EN)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Duneyrr_2941.jpg

The Immortal of the Sky, who serves her "brother" Black Dainn. Looks like a blond woman with pale skin in her natural form, but can shapeshift into a giant moth to battle her enemies.

  • Apologetic Attacker: Duneyrr apologizes for having no choice but to kill Django before initiating battle with him.
Duneyrr: Please don't let this shock you, but... I'm afraid you must die now. My brother told me not to fight you. But I'm so hungry. I've been asleep for such a long time. Waking up and having a Solar Child for breakfast is just what I need... So you see, I've really got no choice. So sorry."
  • Basement-Dweller: She may not be living in her mother's basement, but she does reside in the basement of San Miguel's cathedral.
  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: Her battle form is a titanic moth. There are also Duneyrr's larvae, which crawl around the ground, ramming into her foes while she attacks aerially.
  • Blow You Away: She is the Wind Immortal, though she attacks exclusively with poisonous dust.
  • Chromatic Arrangement: Her yellow hair goes perfectly with Durathror's red hair and Dvalinn's blue outfit.
  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Duneyrr's moth form is a snowy white, which makes perfect sense since she is known as the White Duneyrr.
  • Pretty in Mink: Duneyrr wears a green coat decorated in white fur.
  • Spell My Name with a "The": Introduces herself as "the White Duneyrr, the Sky-ruling Immortal..."
  • Wake Up Fighting: Duneyrr is finally awakened from her deep sleep, and what is the first thing she does? Why, she chooses to attack Django!
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Obviously, she doesn't appear for long- woken up, beaten, Piledrived. She even laments that she was slain right after she had finally been awoken.

    Red Durathror

Voiced by: Bianca Allen (EN)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/durathror_1003.png

The Immortal who rules over the Earth. A member of Dainn's clan, she oppresses San Miguel by surrounding the city with living thorns.

  • Bee Afraid: Venomous bees are released from Durathror's decoy buds when struck.
  • Chromatic Arrangement: Her red hair goes perfectly with Duneyrr's yellow hair and Dvalinn's blue outfit.
  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Red Durathror — she has red hair and a red ribbon.
  • Creepy Child: She has the appearance of a young girl around Django’s age, but the same destructive goals as any other Immortal.
  • Desperately Looking for a Purpose in Life:
Durathror: In my world, there was no light... With no light in the world, I just wanted to die... Dark Brother... I tried my hardest... My life had...meaning... didn't it?..."
  • Green Thumb: As the Earth Immortal, she has control over vegetation, attacking with thorns and vines.
  • Light Is Not Good: She's the only Sol-attributed Immortal. Which made her very useful for suppressing the Solar Tree, though it's implied she fixed this with the last of her power after being Piledrived.
  • Oxymoronic Being: She’s an undead Immortal that channels the power of the Sun, which is bane to all undead in this setting. Her plant-growing powers give her an association with life, in contrast to her fellow Earth Immortal, the Count who prefers more death-related bloody stone spires. Ironically, her unique powers made her the one Immortal weak to the power of darkness, when all others thrive on it.
  • Spell My Name with a "The":
Durathror: I am the Red Durathror! I am the Earth-ruling Immortal!!
  • Tentacle Rope: Durathror uses thorny tentacle-like vines to constrict her enemies. Django’s travel routes are restricted by her vines for most of the second game until she is defeated.
  • Tragic Villain: She expresses complete despair in the bleakness of her unlife and uses the last of her power to help the new Solar Tree sprout as she dies.

    Blue Dvalinn

Voiced by: Donna Burke (EN)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Dvalinn_2157.jpg

The Immortal of the Sea. Resembles a woman in a blue dress, but transforms into a giant octopus to fight Django.

  • Attack Its Weak Point: An attack to Dvalinn's head will inflict a substantial amount of damage.
  • Breath Weapon: Dvalinn's Dark Breath attack chips away slowly at the health of those standing in its path.
  • Bubble Gun: Spits a spray of damaging bubbles during her boss fight and her purification.
  • Chromatic Arrangement: Her blue outfit goes perfectly with Durathror's red hair and Duneyrr's yellow hair.
  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Blue Dvalinn— Conveniently enough, Dvalinn's outfit and octopus form are primarily blue.
  • Combat Tentacles: Predictably, her octopus form attacks mainly with these, though she also has access to a variety of projectiles.
  • Giant Squid: Actually, she is a giant octopus—and a destructive one too.
  • Making a Splash: She is of the Frost alignment, but attacks exclusively with her tentacles, ink and bubbles. The last one is also her sole attack when she is being purified by the Piledriver.
  • Spell My Name with a "The": Though she does not say it herself, she is referred to as the Blue Dvalinn by Cheyenne and the others.
  • Tentacle Rope: Dvalinn constricts Django and drags him underwater where she then introduces herself.
  • Typical Tentacle Tactics: Using her tentacles, Dvalinn grabs Django and strands him on a small island arena where she then faces him. Like any other video game octopus, Dvalinn fights with only two of her tentacles and uses an array of spit/rock projectiles.

    Shade Man.EXE

    Hresvelgr

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Hresvelgr_8787.jpg
He will eat your face!

A member of the group of Immortals, working for Ratatosk. He appears in Boktai 3, at the top of the Ancient Solar Tree. He kidnaps Trinity, forcing Django to rescue him, where he is then defeated and purified. His standard non-combat appearance is that pictured to the side, however, it's actually just a disguise, formed by his folded wings. During battle, he unfolds his wings to reveal a far more frightening bird Immortal.

  • Feathered Fiend: When fighting or kidnapping he reveals his avian form.
  • Feather Flechettes: Attacks with sharp feather projectiles.
  • Game Face: When at rest, he appears to be a comical blue blob with a top hat and vacant expression. That face is just a pattern on his wings that he covers his real body with. When ready for a fight or meal, he opens his wings to reveal himself as a massive, monstrous bird.
  • Kidnapping Bird of Prey: Hresvelgr kidnaps Trinity.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Hresvelgr expresses his disdain for Nidhoggr and his obsession with machines.
  • Toothy Bird: He has a giant maw filled with jagged teeth.
  • Villainous Glutton: He is always thinking of his next meal.

    Nidhoggr

A member of the group of Immortals working for Ratatosk. He appears in Boktai 3, and intervenes when Django attempts to travel to the moon from Pirate Island.

  • Dirty Coward: His teammates disparage him for hiding behind his machines instead of his innate vampire powers.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: The Nidhoggr Machine — the ship which he uses to first combat Django on the pirate ship — is his creation.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Nidhoggr is not on good terms with Hresvelgr, who always "thinks with his stomach".

    Ratatosk

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ratatosk_5502.jpg
Yes, people, this is a guy.

A member of the Demon Clan of Immortals and the main antagonist of Boktai 3. His plan is to conquer the earth using the Eternal Vanargand, who resides on the moon. Unlike most Immortals, he chooses not to follow the Will of the Galaxy, instead working for his own goals. He appears in the timelines of both Boktai 3 and Lunar Knights.
